Speaker 1 (00:01):
Listen Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
Well, good morning, good morning, good morning, good morning, happy
happy happy Fox Sports Saturday, where the fellas I'm Anthony Gargantam,
Arnie Spanger and for Jason Fits after a thrilling game
where you still can't believe that Indiana lost. It was
(00:27):
eighty nine eighty two Pacers after Obi topping went bananas right,
hit a bag to three. He was all over the floor.
The Pacers had all kinds of momentums early the fourth quarter.
They had led the whole way. They appeared to have
some sort of straggle hold on the game. But you
(00:50):
had that weird, nagging feeling, and it was bizarre because.
Speaker 3 (00:55):
You kept you kept going.
Speaker 2 (00:57):
You know, there's not enough mon margin between these seats
for as good as for as well as Indiana has
played for as as I mean, you want to talk
about defense and blitzing SGA, getting in his face, not
giving him good shots, not good looks, and doing a
(01:17):
doing an incredible job. I remember, he has twenty points
with five minutes to go in the game. He winds
up with thirty five. He just could not hold on
and you could feel it. You could feel it. They
dominated that game for really three three d a half
quarters and yet there was ok ce Hagen and I
(01:42):
don't know how you come back. If you're the Pacers,
you're up. You've been up three to one right going
to OKC. Now it's two to two going back there. Wow, man,
what a great series, incredible series.
Speaker 4 (01:56):
Good morning Arnie, Good morning Anthony Gergana. How you doing,
my friend? And if we're going to talk NBA. To
start things off, let me just put my phone on
Solitaire and I'll play Solitaire while where you.
Speaker 2 (02:08):
Guys saw what stephen A. Smith?
Speaker 4 (02:09):
Did you saw that?
Speaker 3 (02:10):
Huh? Yeah? Yeah, I mean you know that's a violation.
Speaker 4 (02:17):
Can you imagine? Can you imagine if the boss is like, hey,
you guys, don't sound like you're concentrating, and I'm like, well,
I'm playing back amming and Solitaire. Well I'm doing the
show with Gargano. You don't mind if I do that?
Dude only doing the commercials at like the first minute
of the show. But yes, good good morning man. You
got to get these phones out of your way.
Speaker 2 (02:38):
Then they're they're they're just so distracted they're poison you.
Speaker 4 (02:43):
Is that great though?
Speaker 2 (02:44):
That it's great.
Speaker 4 (02:45):
It's great that people from like far away are taking
pictures of what Stephen A. Smith is doing out his
Thank goodness, he wasn't looking on tinder or right.
Speaker 2 (02:55):
Right right exactly. Man, I know everybody, you know what
I hate. I'll be honest with you.
Speaker 3 (03:01):
Right. You know what buffed me about that story?
Speaker 2 (03:03):
What it's that is that you got people that are
looking the rat people out. We are raising a bunch
of rats, all right, all these kids. All anybody wants
to do is get people. Come on, man, I love
(03:24):
I love that. I'm sorry and no no. Steven A.
Speaker 4 (03:27):
Smith is like, well I could multitask. I'm playing solitaire
during the timeouts. I'm like, shouldn't you be looking at
the demeanor of the players looking to the you know, huddle,
listen to what they're saying, uh, you know, see what
they're talking about. Shouldn't you be looking around into this?
That's not a time to be playing solitaire because they
called the time out on the court. So you're like, hey,
(03:49):
you know, I think that's a good idea. Maybe a
little backammin or something like that. Could you imagine we're
doing the show. And I'm like, wait a minute, Anthony,
I got double sixes. I got to see if I
can I can. I'm sure the guy and win the game.
Speaker 2 (04:01):
You a hold on, you lose your marbles if I did.
Speaker 3 (04:04):
That, hold on hit me.
Speaker 4 (04:08):
Playing blackjack?
Speaker 2 (04:09):
Yeah, love that.
Speaker 3 (04:10):
No, I mean listen, I get your point.
Speaker 2 (04:14):
You know, you know the deal. Stephen NaN's covered a
million games. And unfortunately that's your human nature. You know,
as much as we say, as much as we go, well,
you know you should be locked in on this and
locked in on that, and yeah, but after thirty years
of doing it, I think that's what human nature. What
(04:38):
happens we wind up playing solitaire because you're like, yeah,
I've been through this a million times, which is a shame,
but it's also I think human nature.
Speaker 4 (04:48):
Well, we're kids of multitasking, you and I. What's the
first thing we did as a multitasker. We went to
grade school and listened to the Major League Baseball playoffs
at like noon with the transistor radio in our ear
while we're trying to listen to the teacher too. So
we multitask ever since we were kids.
Speaker 2 (05:05):
Yeah, yeah, no, but it's a it's a it's a
fun story. Let let's let's get to the game, because
let's get to what really matters. I don't know about you,
but that the whole game O case, he was hanging
around like they yeah, and I never got to the
point where they it was completely comfortable as well as
they played. They played terrific, like they dominated play for
(05:30):
you know, the better part of three and a half quarters,
but could never get that margin to where you felt comfortable, Anthony.
Speaker 4 (05:37):
You know what's crazy? And you know they had this
game one. I think they had like a seventy four
or seventy five percent chance of winning. I know Chris
Plank doesn't like to talk about those type of odds
and he thinks they're bogus. I put out some stock
into it, actually, probably more than most people. But you
know what, they they didn't lose, Anthony.
Speaker 2 (05:54):
They didn't.
Speaker 4 (05:54):
They didn't just lose the game yesterday. They lost the
game and they lost the series. They win that game,
they go up three to one, they win the NBA Championship.
They lost. It's two to two. They're not going to
take two of the next three ic Oklahoma City winning
this one. This series is gonna go to ok See
just based on this game, and they're gonna be looking
(06:17):
back at this and say the Pacers had a chance
to win the championship, go up three to one, and
they let it slip right through their damn fingers. And
that's that's what the consequence is gonna be.
Speaker 2 (06:27):
Yeah, No, I mean, you're right, and the issue is
they can never deliver the one knockout punch. No. You know,
in this second half again, Obie Topping was not was
going been at its right. Hit A couple of threes
put them up eight at one point. Then they're up
nine at their Haliburton drive like they were.
Speaker 3 (06:48):
They were right.
Speaker 2 (06:49):
There, but you know, you gotta you gotta get that
one kind of knockout run and nobody knows runs like okay.
See the shame of it is they had the lastg
for most of that.
Speaker 4 (07:01):
Game until the last like five minutes of the game.
Speaker 3 (07:03):
Yeah, he scored five to fifty game.
Speaker 2 (07:06):
Let me ask you a question.
Speaker 4 (07:07):
You saw all those stats about the Pacers when they
came back against the Knicks, and they come back down
twenty against this team and the odds of them were
two million to one to come back and win all
four games and stuff like that, and Oklahoma City came
back last night. My question is, and you see those stats,
a team is one in one hundred and thirty four,
(07:28):
you know, if they if they're a fighter.
Speaker 2 (07:31):
With the Stanley Cup playoffs and Florida up three nothing exactly.
Speaker 4 (07:36):
What my question to you is, why why so many
massive comebacks, even in hockey, basketball, mostly in basketball, we've
seen in football, why so many massive comebacks are the
are the team leading just choking it away? Because we're
seeing something that we've never seen in sports. Like we said,
a team is like one in six hundred and seventy
(07:57):
eight straight up if they have a twenty point when
six minutes left or something, and we got these teams
coming back, and I have no idea it's got to
because the team leading is choking because we don't see
these type of comebacks this massive.
Speaker 3 (08:11):
Yeah, I don't know if it's choking.
Speaker 2 (08:12):
I think it's more when you look at for all,
the three is going to keep you in it in basketball, right,
so it's not for a while though, you know, but
the three, but the three now it is that you
get you get hot, and the next thing, you know,
weird stuff happens. The other aspect of it is I
think you lack. What's lacking, at least on the Indiana side,
(08:37):
is a killer.
Speaker 3 (08:39):
Who's your who's your killer? To end the game? Like
a burden? Yeah, but he's not a killer.
Speaker 2 (08:46):
He's a he's a great player, right, but he's really
more a facilitator. Everybody wants to.
Speaker 3 (08:53):
Make came out to be.
Speaker 2 (08:55):
Uh well, but he's not an offensive. He is clutch player,
but he's not an offensive Like he doesn't shoot well
enough to be the killer. Like you've even killed you know.
Everybody gets on Halburt's case. Where was Siaka in the
end of the game.
Speaker 4 (09:12):
Right, right, he's not having series against the Knicks, that's
for sure.
Speaker 2 (09:16):
But you look at sc A. S c A was
in a straight jacket in the attict kept blitzing him.
They had him in the straight jacket for that entire
game and up until the end. And he's such a
great player that he'll at some point he'll come out
to bite you. But Halburn's at that kind of player.
(09:37):
He's not that kind of score.
Speaker 4 (09:38):
I'm gonna push back a little bit. Obviously, out of
the five hundred emails and texts I sent you yesterday,
with the five thousand stories I sent you, I know
you couldn't have gone all of them.
Speaker 2 (09:49):
I sent you a I appreciate it. Yesterday I sent
you I was in the air while you were I
was on the air and my phone's going I.
Speaker 4 (09:58):
Do that all the time, but I said just Dodden says,
most game tying or lead taking shots with under five
seconds left in the game in the playoffs since nineteen
ninety seven, So we're going back almost thirty years. Lebron
number one, Reggie Miller number two, Tyrese Haliburton number three.
Kobe was number four. So Halliburton is like one of
the most clutch players under his second game, but that.
Speaker 2 (10:22):
Still doesn't accurately depict his game, right, right, He's not Kobe.
He doesn't have the offensive prowess that Kobe has. He's
more of a facilitator. Yeah, he's hit some clutch shots,
but that doesn't accurately tell the story of who the
player is. Well, he's an offensive prow as offensive of course, right,
could score could break down your defender is a great shooter.
(10:47):
Hal Burton is a great is a terrific facilitator, and
he can and he can make shots. But this whole
nonsense about who he is and he needs to step
off and he needs to be this guy. He's not
as g No. No, no, he's a gifted Again, he's
a gifted point guard who could score a little bit too.
He's a combo guard, but he's a great facildier. He's
(11:09):
a great lead guard.
Speaker 4 (11:11):
Let me ask you this that you say he's a
great lead guard, that he's a really good player. Yet
the NBA players not only disagree with you, they voted
him the most overrated player in the NBA.
Speaker 2 (11:25):
Yeah, I'm going to your point about you know, the
the clutch, this other player. I'm just trying to tell
you what kind of player he is. He's not an
offensive He's not Kobe. No, he's not. He's not s
g A. No, he's not a guy that's a volume
scorer like you know, he's not a On a given
(11:47):
night he listen, he'll break your defense, he'll break his
defender down. But there's a limit to what he can
do at the end of games. He needs He's a
guy who needs help. Just the kind of player he is.
Speaker 4 (12:00):
Yet there were one game away, five minutes away from
winning this game and going up three to one and
winning a championship.
Speaker 3 (12:06):
Well that's my point.
Speaker 2 (12:07):
Come, how come it all it all goes on him
and we don't hear a peep.
Speaker 3 (12:12):
About last night.
Speaker 2 (12:17):
You look at Pascal and I like, right, he comes out,
he has a terrific first half.
Speaker 3 (12:22):
Again, and in the second half he wanders.
Speaker 2 (12:26):
And the only guy who kept him in the game
offensively the second half was Obie Topping.
Speaker 4 (12:32):
It was a good pickup when they got him from
the Knicks too. I mean, I didn't want him to go,
but Nick's had no room for him. He's been great
for them coming off the bench. He's just I mean,
and especially in an eighty two game season when you
need guys to log minutes. You always heard you always
heard about pitchers being inning eaters. Somebody like Obie Topping
is like a minute's eater when it comes to the
(12:52):
regular season. And he's played so well during the He's
been well in the playoffs too.
Speaker 2 (12:57):
The bench for the Pacers.
Speaker 4 (12:58):
With top In, maccay, Donald Matherin, they've been fantastic. He
was Shepherd, So.
Speaker 2 (13:05):
I mean, I tell you, that's how they won, That's
how they that's why the series is tied because of
their bench. Yeah, I mean, McConnell has been ridiculous every night,
like giving you energy off the bench, facilitating grabbing you ten, eight,
ten points, right, Like, I mean that bench has been
their shot in the arm. That and how good, how
(13:26):
good defense they play, But they gotta find somebody to
close out games with. Like you know, they got lucky
because Mathren was on fire the other night, right, Yeah,
and they missed. They needed somebody else to step up
last night in the fourth, Like where was Miles Turner?
(13:46):
He missed a couple of big shots in the third quarter.
He finished with twelve points, Like Miles Turner has to
do better. He was zero for six from three. Like
Miles Turner needs to contribute. We talk about Siakam in
the second half, like everybody wants to dump everything on
Halliburton when he's got no help from his from his
bigs who need to score.
Speaker 4 (14:08):
They also have to shoot three points better too, I
mean they're three point shooting team. Also, they weren't really
connecting on a lot of them. I mean they were
eleven to thirty six, so it wasn't all all that bad.
But when they're hitting threes, like they didn't the comeback
against the Knicks, there's they're just almost a stop.
Speaker 2 (14:23):
Here's the issue, Right, They did all their threes in
the first first three quarter, right right. I don't know
what they were from three in the fourth quarter, but
I just by memory they didn't. They didn't shoot well
from behind York in the.
Speaker 4 (14:40):
Fort no either did Okay, see though either they were just.
Speaker 3 (14:42):
Oh but okay, he's not never going to shoot. They're
not a three.
Speaker 4 (14:45):
Point shooting tea better than three or sixteen though, geez.
Speaker 3 (14:47):
Yeah, but they're not.
Speaker 2 (14:48):
But that's not their offense, you're right right, that's not
their offense or transition their SGA breaking you down mid
range game.
Speaker 3 (14:56):
I mean they want to get out and run. I
mean that's who.
Speaker 2 (14:58):
That's who, okay, see is they're not like, it's not
like they're gonna they're gonna dart eat to death in
the ad again, the shame is that.
Speaker 3 (15:07):
They had nobody else.
Speaker 2 (15:08):
They need somebody, and it's clear they need somebody else
to step up besides Halliburton.
Speaker 4 (15:17):
And you know what what cracks me up. Oklahoma City
was actually the big favorite. I don't know if you
want to say big, but they were like a two
to one favorite coming into this. Usually we'd be all
over them, going, what a joke, You're the two to
one favorite to win the NBA Championship.
Speaker 2 (15:32):
Better than one, but there were more than two to one.
Speaker 4 (15:35):
Maybe yeah, maybe yeah.
Speaker 2 (15:37):
Yeah, no, they were a huge favorite. Yeah okay, And.
Speaker 4 (15:40):
We don't bring that up and off we're like, hey,
this is a good series.
Speaker 2 (15:44):
We should praise. It's a great series.
Speaker 3 (15:48):
I have to tell you.
Speaker 2 (15:50):
One of the things that I want to ask you
is do you actually like the basketball?
Speaker 3 (15:55):
Or you know, we get caught up in Steven they.
Speaker 2 (15:59):
Play solitaire or right, right, people people dumping on Halliburton. Right,
we get caught up, and it's just human nature. I
guess right that people love the side store, the w
W E side story, right, they love that, right. The
basketball's fascinating because Indiana's playing great defense. Like they completely
(16:25):
took s g A out of the game for three
and a half quarters.
Speaker 4 (16:28):
No, completely about of the game, Anton, The basketball has
been good. But here's what you're missing. You haven't given
me any storylines. You haven't really given me any villains.
You've given me two markets. I'm really not sure where
they are. You'll have to help me and point that
out a map. You see stephen A playing well solitaire.
That's because people are I don't want to say bored, Anton,
(16:50):
and I'm being honest. It's not that they're bored. They're
just giving me two markets. I mean, as a the.
Speaker 2 (16:56):
Markets aren't on the floor.
Speaker 4 (16:58):
No, I watch you know something. Mike lives in Oklahoma City,
and he got mad at me because I kept calling
them the Oklahoma City Sooners, just to see if anybody
would know that I was calling them by.
Speaker 2 (17:07):
The wrong nickname.
Speaker 3 (17:08):
He was.
Speaker 2 (17:08):
That's so disrespectful. That's so disrespectful.
Speaker 4 (17:12):
If I kept calling him Oklahoma City Sooners, I don't
think anybody would notice that I wasn't calling him by
the by the right nickname. You have two very least
interesting matchups here, and it has to do with the markets.
Speaker 2 (17:26):
It has to do with the no villains, it does.
Speaker 3 (17:32):
It's about it was on the floor, Oh.
Speaker 4 (17:34):
Anthony, if this was the New York Knicks and the Lakers,
you don't think we'd be talking about this for four hours?
Speaker 2 (17:42):
Well, because we would we be talking about Nicks Lakers
because they would have players on the floor. That would
be better that we would be in the finals talking
about them.
Speaker 4 (17:51):
Well, not necessary. I mean, they they didn't even make
it this far. I mean we Oklahoma City had the
best record in the NBA.
Speaker 2 (17:58):
Okay, Okay, see is legit, and of course sc A
is a great, great player. It was the MVP.
Speaker 4 (18:06):
So again, no, there's there's give me, give me the market.
Speaker 2 (18:10):
Who's if you're just talking about the basketball, you're telling
me the basketball itself is not entertaining enough for you.
Speaker 4 (18:17):
No it isn't. I'm sorry it is. It's not enough
to draw me in because I mean, we see eighty
two games out here, we see all the load management,
we see a lot of three No that's I mean
you're gonna get a lot of three pointers. And no,
the basketball is not enough. You have to give me villains.
You have to give me storylines. You have to give
me major markets. I'm a major market snob, as Chris
(18:39):
Plant calls me. So you're from Philly. I mean, come on, now,
let's let's be honest like these sports.
Speaker 2 (18:46):
Listen, I don't give damn a pall about storylines and
villains and heroes and everything else.
Speaker 3 (18:54):
I like sports, all right.
Speaker 2 (18:56):
The whole reason why I got into this is I'm
a writer, right, and I married my passion, which was sports.
I have one question. I don't care about being a
star doing any of this nonsense. I just like talking
about Sports right, and so I watched the game last
night and went, that was a thrilling game that had
(19:17):
that everything.
Speaker 3 (19:18):
I enjoyed it.
Speaker 4 (19:20):
One one question, if it's so great, why are the
ratings the lowest?
Speaker 2 (19:26):
I'm asking.
Speaker 4 (19:27):
I know you may not care, but I want to
know what.
Speaker 3 (19:29):
Let's we'll discuss it.
Speaker 2 (19:31):
On the other side, you're already giving me a We're
twenty minutes of the show and you're giving.
Speaker 3 (19:36):
Me I knew that was happening.
Speaker 2 (19:39):
Alreadie Span You're Anthony Gargatto already in for Fitzie.

Live Fellas Live from the Fox Sports Radio studios and
Arnie Arnie and for fanci Today.
Speaker 3 (20:07):
All right, so let's get to your question.
Speaker 2 (20:09):
Yeah about you know what you need as a sports fan,
because obviously the sport isn't doesn't hold your doesn't captivate you.
Speaker 4 (20:19):
Not only maybe as the ratings are low, they're horrible,
They're just okay.
Speaker 3 (20:24):
I don't know what that.
Speaker 2 (20:24):
Means other than nobody's watching it. If you actually appreciate
the game, then you could go all right, it's a
good series. But I can't help it if people don't
appreciate the games. I mean, if you if you go
everything by masses, I don't know what that means. I
don't know what kind of What does that mean about quality? Well,
it's not always I don't say that. That means popularity.
(20:46):
It's difference between popularity, something being popular and something being quality.
Speaker 4 (20:50):
Yeah, but nobody. Nobody sits down and watches a whole game.
Everybody you know, can't you? Yeah, well one because it's
on at eight thirty at nine Eastern time.
Speaker 2 (21:00):
For crying out loud, you.
Speaker 3 (21:01):
Know, you turned into a pumpkin.
Speaker 2 (21:05):
Come on, bro, it's a Friday night. What do you
want me to stay up?
Speaker 4 (21:09):
What's wrong with you?
Speaker 2 (21:12):
My god?
Speaker 3 (21:13):
Oh my god, you're killing me. You're killing all round.
Speaker 4 (21:17):
They do put these times for West coast people. It's
not for the East coast.
Speaker 2 (21:21):
It's the finals thing. It's a thirty.
Speaker 4 (21:24):
It's fine, Well, let's go back to it's too late,
let's go back to tape delay.
Speaker 2 (21:29):
Then let's just go ahead do it. Because you lived
in an era where Monday night football was nine o'clock. Yeah, yeah,
you didn't watch it.
Speaker 4 (21:37):
NBA Finals was eleven thirty at night after the news.
Well I was taped to lay Yeah exactly.
Speaker 2 (21:42):
Yeah, of course tape delay. I was a little kid
and stayed up to watch. Did want another scores? I
could watch six Ers play the Lakers.
Speaker 4 (21:48):
Yeah, there was no TVO or anything like that. You
had to stay up and watch. You know, you have
to check.
Speaker 2 (21:53):
Oh but what seriously, what's the You don't really have
a beef about that? Do you about the lay? Yeah?
Speaker 4 (21:58):
Of course a little bit if I don't have a beef.
Notice they did change Monday Night football after they because
people did have a beef. It was a big thing.
Even if they move it twenty minutes earlier, that's how
much of a difference would makes. So yeah, all that
makes a difference the time when it starts, how late
it is, the markets that are involved on storylines, villains,
(22:20):
all that plays a fact. Yeah, none of that.
Speaker 2 (22:23):
I get human nature when it comes to the idea
of something that reaches the masses. There's formula movies, right,
there's a reason why there's the summer blockbuster. Right, there's
a reason why you're trying to reach the masses. My
argument is not about popularity. It's about the quality of
(22:44):
the game that we watched. And my only point is
it was an entertaining, thrilling game. If you like basketball, yes,
i'mbout telling you. You you if you actually really like
the game, and you're I guess you were a geek,
that's all I'm saying.
Speaker 4 (23:03):
No, right, you don't have to even be a geek.
I love basketball. I mean, I'm watching college I'm watching
the NBA.
Speaker 3 (23:10):
Which role we're watching this series.
Speaker 4 (23:12):
It's because, like I said, though, you're not giving me enough.
You're Oklahoma City in Indiana is not enough to keep
my interest. The markets are just too small.
Speaker 2 (23:22):
You know.
Speaker 4 (23:23):
You said, well, if you know, if it's the Lakers
in New York, could you imagine if Lebron's team lost
a ten point lead and he didn't hit any shots
in the fourth quarter. I know that, but you would
be talking about not only would we be talking about itsition,
they'd be talking about Anthony. It'd be going out all
(23:43):
day on all weekend. Out of Lebron did this. The
Lakers didn't.
Speaker 2 (23:47):
Yeah, because because Lebron, whether he plays in La Miami
or Cleveland, is always was always the story polar in
a transition period in the NBA, where who are the
true stars of the league? Like what satiates Arnie spangyar
right now?
Speaker 3 (24:07):
What like?
Speaker 2 (24:08):
What what players will satiate you so that you enjoy
the telecast?
Speaker 4 (24:14):
Wolf Fraser, I really like, Oh no, I'm sorry, that's
just that's that's a little too old. What players?
Speaker 6 (24:21):
You know?
Speaker 2 (24:21):
I right now, I like forty So you know, well.
Speaker 4 (24:26):
I like Brunson. I I love watching him. I mean
he's yeah, I'm a nick fan, but I like watching
him anyway, even when he was with Dallas. I love
watching Jokic. I think he's just fantastic. So, I mean
there's you know, but it's not about watching.
Speaker 2 (24:41):
The point is that you got to make room for
Like s g A is a beautiful player to watch.
He's a throwback, He's a mid range player who's a
volume scorer. He's a beautiful man.
Speaker 4 (24:58):
Know what's funny about that? You're right a about everything
you just said. He won the MVP. He took Oklahoma
City to the best records. I mean, there are two
games away from winning a championship. But if we're talking
about popularity, mister MVP doesn't probably fit into the top
ten in popularity in the NBA, and he's MVP and
trying to win a championship and not the best record.
Speaker 3 (25:17):
Of course, this is his coming out party.
Speaker 4 (25:19):
Even if it was his coming out party, he still
won the Most Valuable Player. What he still won the MVP.
You would think that people could be higher than a
top ten un popularity, Dad, You.
Speaker 2 (25:30):
Judge everything off of popularity. I judge it off of quality.
Speaker 4 (25:34):
Oh, he's a great player, there's no doubt about that.
Speaker 2 (25:37):
I'm not gonna argue in three years SGA. Everybody knows SGA. Right, right, That's.
Speaker 3 (25:44):
How it works.
Speaker 2 (25:45):
We're in a transition period of the stars, right, like
you mentioned right, you mentioned Brunson.
Speaker 3 (25:54):
Right, and really like who you got it?
Speaker 2 (25:56):
Man? Right?
Speaker 4 (25:58):
Well, they talk about who's going to be the next
face of the NBA. I don't think it's going to
be any of those guys, to be honest with you.
Speaker 2 (26:04):
Well, I mean Jokic is already you know, thirty whatever, Yeah, right, right,
I mean you're but my point to you is you're
in a position of transition when it comes to the stars. Oh.
Speaker 4 (26:15):
Absolutely, who's gonna carry.
Speaker 2 (26:19):
You're looking for star power? My question is, well, what
star power is there? Like you mentioned the Knicks, and
I love Brunson too, But Brunson is not on the
Marquee Broadway, even though he's the boy guard for the Knicks.
Speaker 4 (26:34):
No, no, but he's still one of the top ten players.
Though he's still one of the great players. I mean,
what about Giannis. Does he move the needle for you?
Speaker 2 (26:41):
Luca? Does he move the needle for you?
Speaker 3 (26:43):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (26:44):
You know, I mean I like Luca, I mean I
like Giannis. I mean they're interesting, you know, great players.
Speaker 4 (26:49):
You'll like Giannis a lot more when he's on the Knicks.
Speaker 3 (26:53):
Look at you. How are you going to get him?
Speaker 2 (26:56):
That's a good question.
Speaker 4 (26:57):
I mean we'll have to give up Karl Anthony Towns,
There's no doubt about that. And I don't want to
give him up. I know a lot of people are
sour on him. I'm still a fan of his. I
know he didn't have the best playoff series, but I'm
not ready to give up on him.
Speaker 3 (27:10):
You don't want to give up cat No, I get
if you can get you honest.
Speaker 4 (27:14):
Well then I'll give him up. But how much do
you have to give up?
Speaker 2 (27:17):
You know?
Speaker 4 (27:17):
I see all these asking prices for some of the
stars like Boston. Supposedly, if they want to give up
Jalen Brown, they.
Speaker 2 (27:23):
Want four that's insane.
Speaker 3 (27:27):
Yeah, that's crazy.
Speaker 2 (27:28):
That is I don't know how you flip Cat, because
first of all, Milwaukee's not gonna want Karl andthrew Towns right, like,
to make the money work, They're gonna want picks and
young players, right, so you have to put in an
expiring contract. But the Knicks don't have the picks. So
if you're gonna move Cat, you gotta get another team involved.
(27:52):
Who would want Cat? And I just don't know who
that would be.
Speaker 4 (27:55):
You're probably right, especially with the money he's making. Defensively,
he's a liability.
Speaker 3 (28:00):
Right, I wouldn't trade for Kat.
Speaker 4 (28:02):
He was exposed in that Indiana series. There was no
doubt about that.
Speaker 3 (28:05):
Yeah, I would.
Speaker 4 (28:06):
I mean, he's the reason why Tibbs doesn't have a
job right now. Thibodeau doesn't have a job right now. Yeah, seriously,
I mean, if he played a little bit of a
better series, there'd be a different outlook. I'm still shocked
that they got rid of him.
Speaker 3 (28:19):
Tibbs.
Speaker 2 (28:20):
Yeah, my guess is that there was a disagreement in
the front office.
Speaker 4 (28:24):
Well, you know after the front office. I said this earlier.
I feel like, you know when you were dating a
girl and you broke up and you're like, you know what,
let's get back together again. I'm going to say I'm sorry,
and let's get back together again with Thibodeau. Let's let's
bring him in give a big hoe.
Speaker 2 (28:40):
It is ridiculous. Like you look at the names that
did Nick. You're looking at right like I'm a Mark
Jackson fan, like I always I love Mark. I I
used to work for the New York Post way back
in the day, right, and uh that Nix in the
ATA series, the last one with Reggie Miller, I covered that,
(29:02):
and I covered that from I was on the Pacers
beat right like, so wherever they went, I went. I
was at their practices and that sort of thing. During
that even leading up to it, they played Miami. So
I knew Mark really well when he was in New
York and then when he went to Indiana and he
(29:23):
like he would call me over and go yo, cous Kamara,
and then he would say, I want to give you
a back page and he would say something He's like
here he's a great quote, and you can put on it.
They love getting the back page. Reggie Miller, I mean
it was it was. It was great theater, right like
it was truly a Broadway.
Speaker 4 (29:41):
Is that when they played the Lakers in the finals,
is that the No.
Speaker 2 (29:43):
That's when they played Remember they played the the the Bulls.
They beat the the Indiana beat the next and then
they beat and then the Bulls beat him seven games. Jordan,
wait before my time. No, I'm just kidding.
Speaker 3 (30:00):
I don't know, dude. Again, the argument, it's a fun argument.
Speaker 2 (30:05):
And I grant you that you know, big picture, big markets,
and you know stars like this. This doesn't this finals
doesn't have that.
Speaker 4 (30:16):
No, it's killing the NBA right now. Seriously. I mean
if the worst I mean thinking about that entity worst
rate I know you don't care about, but the worst
ratings since they started doing this. I mean that's like
in twenty seven, twenty eight years. That's that's horrible. I
mean take away the COVID years. Maybe even the COVID
years did better. It's just that just goes to show
(30:37):
you that this interest that people have in this NBA Finals.
And I know we joke about Stephen A. Smith, but
when you're breaking out the you know, the play solitaire
in the middle of your job.
Speaker 2 (30:48):
There's problems there. Man.
Speaker 4 (30:49):
They can't even keep your interest during the timeouts and
the commercials. And I'm wondering how many people feel the
same way I do, and they're just like, yeah, you know.
Speaker 2 (30:58):
I mean, if you're ask you for that question, how
many people feel that? Well, obviously a lot, because yeah,
the ratings are down, Like I get it, My lilly
pushback is if you actually pay attention to it, it's
pretty good.
Speaker 4 (31:12):
It is one other thing, though, I'll give you this
that maybe the ratings are down. Well, who the hell
made the schedule that said, Okay, we're in the NBA Finals,
two games apiece. Everybody's finally drawn in. We got three
games left if it goes that far. But let's not
put any games this weekend, Saturday or Sunday.
Speaker 2 (31:29):
Nothing going on.
Speaker 4 (31:30):
We're not gonna have any NBA Finals game on Saturday
or Sunday. We're just gonna bypass the weekend. Who makes
that schedule? Who does something like that?
Speaker 2 (31:38):
You know, yeah, we gotta wait till Monday.
Speaker 4 (31:41):
Who wants to you know what?
Speaker 3 (31:44):
And I do agree with you, I think you lose momentum.
Speaker 2 (31:47):
Oh yes, when you space, when you space out like that,
you really lose momentum.
Speaker 3 (31:52):
It's crazy.
Speaker 2 (31:53):
I get it again, yeah, like, and I get it
from the NHL standpoint, like you're going from one end
of the earth to the other end of the earth
with Florida Edmonton, so you need to travel built in
in that sense. But I'm with you. You just lose momentum.
I think you're right, and you're and one.
Speaker 4 (32:12):
You're taking away a weekend where everybody likes to go
ahead and sit down, especially on a Saturday.
Speaker 2 (32:16):
Sunday, Like, how do you not play old Father's Day?
Speaker 3 (32:20):
Exactly? You got the US Open?
Speaker 2 (32:22):
Right, good point, man, Why don't you play at eight
o'clock or seven o'clock at night? Yeah, it's perfect, perfect
Father's Day.
Speaker 3 (32:33):
Dad wants to watch hoop?
Speaker 4 (32:37):
Now what's dad gonna watch now?
Speaker 2 (32:39):
Nothing?
Speaker 3 (32:40):
Yeah, yeah, you're watching the US Open.
Speaker 4 (32:45):
No, I'm not watching the US Open. Get out of here, man,
no way, No, I'm not going to watch to spend
my time. Look, if Tiger was playing, I'd watched the
US again. Give me star power, Anthony.
Speaker 2 (32:55):
I'm sorry, gott dude, you're right, but he's not enough.
Speaker 4 (33:00):
He's not enough for me. To make you know, maybe
on the last day he's got the lead, I'll tune
in the watch and see what's going on. But he's
he's not the kind of guy that's gonna make me
tune into all right.
Speaker 2 (33:09):
Well, so here's my question to you. Yeah, all right,
because now I'm I'm curious. You got me. I'm gonna
go around the horn. Yeah, you gotta tell me what
makes Arnie watch? You got it?
Speaker 3 (33:21):
You got right?
Speaker 2 (33:22):
Okay, all right, we're the fellas already in for Fitsie
right here on Fox Sports Radio. All right, fellas, be
sure to check out a Fox Sports Radio YouTube channel
tons of great videos from many of our Fox Sports

Speaker 4 (33:54):
By the way, I finally realized who you remind me of?
Who you look like an actor? The guy from the Sopranos.
Speaker 2 (34:04):
Well, that's a yeah, that's the guy.
Speaker 4 (34:08):
Well I can't say his name. They call him Big.
You know what I know, I know why people have
said that about you. You've heard that before.
Speaker 2 (34:14):
No, stop it. No, you've not heard that. I know
we all look alike. Yeah, no, I don't know. I
never got that, but it's okay, all right, I got it. Yeah,
I got it. My my lads name is Gargano. I know,
mafia guys. I got it. I got it. I haven't
(34:35):
heard that before. All right, Hey, I got it. You know,
aren't you from New York?
Speaker 4 (34:42):
Yes, the Bronx, from the.
Speaker 2 (34:43):
Bronx, I know, near Marris Park. Did you go around
telling those.
Speaker 4 (34:48):
Those guys streets of Riverdale?
Speaker 2 (34:50):
Did you go tell those guys? You know, you look
like a Sopranos guy with do you think those guys?
Speaker 4 (34:56):
Yeah? Yeah, I'm going to find that.
Speaker 3 (35:00):
All right.
Speaker 2 (35:00):
Uh, this is what would Arnie? What would get Arnie
to watch?
Speaker 3 (35:05):
All right?
Speaker 2 (35:06):
Yeah, so let's let's let's let's go into the other
series for a moment, all right, Before we get to
baseball and football, let's get into Edmonton and Florida in
the NHL.
Speaker 3 (35:17):
Right, are you watching that?
Speaker 4 (35:19):
I'm watching probably more hockey than the basketball. I like
hockey because my son played hockey. So there's a little
bit of favoritism towards there. Uh, you got the Canadian team,
so maybe you're pulling for a Canadian team to win.
You've got a few villains, you know, So the markets,
I'm not crazy about it all, but at least you
(35:40):
have the Canadian market.
Speaker 2 (35:42):
But these are different. You got the greatest player in
the world.
Speaker 4 (35:45):
Right right, right, and there's there's no LEAs, there's no
lack of superstars either. I'm like, man, look at Brad Marshan,
you know, traded from Boston to Florida and just you know,
trying to get a Stanley cop rat.
Speaker 2 (35:59):
Yep, it's it's it's it's good.
Speaker 4 (36:01):
But the the markets, you know, when you have Florida
and they've been a power, and then you got Edmonton
who used to be a power, I mean they're like
an old school, you know, famous team. But yet I
don't know if that's enough to draw the average hockey
fan in. I'm still watching, but the two markets really
don't do much for me.
Speaker 2 (36:23):
Yeah, okay, so you you do can see that you
have two of the greatest players in the world and
McDavid dry title. Yeah, and yeah, you have a great
team in Florida.
Speaker 4 (36:42):
And you've had some great comebacks too.
Speaker 2 (36:44):
Talking about first of all, the other night, I know
that hockey isn't on the isn't on the front lobe
of America's brain. However, if you like sports, that the
other night was one of the great all time games.
Speaker 3 (37:03):
It had everything.
Speaker 2 (37:04):
Anthony, I want to tell you this.
Speaker 4 (37:06):
My father when we moved to Los Angeles, my father
was a big hockey fan. Never went to He went
to one Kings game, one La Kings game. He decided
to take my brother. They were for out of the
just out of the booth. They're like, let's go to
the Kings game. They were playing Edmonton. They were down
five nothing. It was the Miracle on Manchester where they
scored the Tye goal seconds left. They were down five
(37:27):
to nothing in the third, scored the Tyne goal in
the third, I believe one in overtime. The only game
he's been to h to see the Kings that it
was like the one of the most famous games in
La King's history.
Speaker 2 (37:40):
The miracle on Manchester.
Speaker 3 (37:42):
Wow. Yeah, they were down, came back.
Speaker 4 (37:45):
From five nothing in the third, in the third, that's crazy.
Speaker 2 (37:49):
It was unbelievable. Yeah, yeah, that's wild. I loved I
mean the other night I loved that game was had
it all. I mean, it's funny. Iually went over a
buddy of mind. So my buddy Teuc, said, you want
to come over. I got a couple of chamats, come
over watch the game, all right, And so.
Speaker 3 (38:12):
I mean at the end of the.
Speaker 2 (38:13):
Game, we're like, wow, man, it's like what it was
just thrilling.
Speaker 4 (38:17):
It was just a wait, quick question for you. You
went over your buddy's house. You still do that. I
watched my sports by myself.
Speaker 2 (38:23):
I don't.
Speaker 4 (38:24):
I can't get like three, four fives, ten people in
a room, everybody talking. You said, that's good that you
still have friends that you can go over and watch
the game with. I gotta I gotta watch it by myself.
Speaker 2 (38:33):
Man, I can't do that. Well, I've had I grew
up with my I have the same friends since I was,
you know, twelve.
Speaker 4 (38:39):
Oh wow, look at you. So they haven't left you
like most of my friends.
Speaker 2 (38:42):
I like that. So I there's like eight of us
and and so well you know, and she so happens
that my one friend, Tuc, we live.
Speaker 3 (38:54):
We live five minutes away from each other.
Speaker 2 (38:56):
Oh there you go. Yeah, my friends spread all over
the place. Yeah, so it's like air and I it
was like it wasn't A. It wasn't a like plans thing.
It's like, dude, what are you doing? You want to
come and you have baseball because my kids played, My oldest,
my youngest played baseball. So it's like, now I'm off,
I don't watch the game. He's like, I'll come over,
come over. So I got a couple of from A
and you know whatever. So we watched the game and
(39:18):
it was just I love it. I enjoy I've enjoyed
both these series immensely.
Speaker 3 (39:27):
It's funny that you have this kind of take today.
Speaker 4 (39:30):
Well, I'm not alone on this. I'm surprised that you're shocked.
To be honest with you, you know what, I'm aggressively
uninterested in ratings.
Speaker 2 (39:41):
Right, you're like plank right, Yes, yes, I think you're right.
Speaker 3 (39:45):
I think we're the Fells right here.
Speaker 2 (39:50):
Fox it's the radio Sports radio radio. Well, good morning,
good morning, good morning, Happy Fox Sports Saturday. Yes, we
are the Fellas hanging out. Arnie spani your infor Jason Fits.
We come to you live from the Fox Sports Radio studios,
(40:14):
talking to who talk all kinds of fun stuff. Is
uh we take you into Father's Day weekend topics.
Speaker 3 (40:23):
Yeah, Happy Father's Day to you.
Speaker 4 (40:26):
Happy Father's Day, too big plans for you tomorrow or
tonight or anything like that or what.
Speaker 2 (40:30):
No, No, actually, my nephew he's graduating high school today,
so I have thanks buddy. We'll have a part with
a little family party. My father flew in from Florida,
so we'll have like a family party. We have a
My little one is a game today, baseball game, so
(40:53):
we'll do that. We'll go to the party, leave play ball,
come back to the party, and then uh, and then.
Speaker 3 (40:59):
Tomorrow, like tomorrow, I'm just gonna relax.
Speaker 4 (41:01):
Yeah, that's I mean, that's what Father's Day is all about,
you know. Yeah, it's It's funny you mentioned that I
went out to dinner last weekend. My son got engaged.
So I met the my future daughter in law's parents
and they were wearing Pacer sweatshirts because they're from Indiana,
and it totally disgusted me.
Speaker 2 (41:20):
No, it's not awesome.
Speaker 4 (41:22):
No, it's not a matter of fact, almost called off
the wedding right there, almost gone. Let me ask you
a question, Anthony, serious, serious, your son. I know he's
very young, but your son's gonna get married someday, right,
he's gonna come to you and say, Dad, I want
you to meet the love of my life. Right, you're
calling off the wedding if she's a fan of what team?
If you're like, no, no, I can't do that. I
(41:44):
can't do it cow Boys, Right, the wedding's off.
Speaker 2 (41:47):
I can't do that. It's done. It's done. You can't
tell me the Pacers are that team for you.
Speaker 4 (41:53):
Well, they just beat the Knicks and they were wearing
the sweatshirt and I wanted to purposely spill a beer
on him. I'm like, come on, dude, you can't wear
that in front of me after what happened.
Speaker 2 (42:03):
So let me dive into this. I love this story.
It's actually a great story.
Speaker 4 (42:07):
It's really I'm like, I was so aggravated. I mean,
it's the first time I'm meeting you.
Speaker 3 (42:13):
Okay, So where did you guys meet?
Speaker 2 (42:15):
Like in Vermont.
Speaker 4 (42:16):
They came out to Vermont from Indiana. They're from Fort Wayne,
and we went out to dinner and the words Indiana
Pacer sweatshirts. This is got to stop.
Speaker 2 (42:25):
You know. Well, first of all, it's it's beautiful. They're
they're from Fort Wayne, Indiana. You go out to dinner
and they're wearing sweats hoodies, right, is exactly exactly. That's
fatulous itself. Second of all, did they know do they
know what kind of would you do for a living?
Speaker 4 (42:47):
The father wasn't really up on it. The son. The
son came out to the whole family came out, and
he knew and he put on the Pacer sweatshirt. He
went to Indiana University of India or Indiana University.
Speaker 3 (42:58):
They're a huge Pacer people that.
Speaker 4 (43:00):
Yeah. Oh, he was like a cheerleader for the football team.
So so he's a pretty strong guy. And I swear
and I took a picture of his sweatshirt I put
on Twitter. I'm not kidding around. I had to go
outside just to catch my breath, and I purposely wanted
to knock a beer into him and spill it on
him on a sweatshirt. I wanted to, you know, get
it dirty so he'd have to take it off. Is
(43:21):
that bad of me?
Speaker 2 (43:21):
Is that wrong in me to do that? I love it.
I think it's fantastic. Does he know? Did he know
what kind of kind of fan you are? Yeah, he knows.
Speaker 4 (43:31):
I'm a big Knicks fan. But I don't think you
need to what extent now now whole No, Now, I
promise you that after after what I'm like, really, I
mean we're meeting.
Speaker 2 (43:41):
Sports radio guy, Like, did they understand that.
Speaker 4 (43:43):
The father really didn't pick up the parents really didn't
pick up on that the son did. I mean, he
knew of me, but but the parents really had no idea.
What did they for all they know?
Speaker 3 (43:53):
I'm gonna turn.
Speaker 2 (43:55):
Yes, you're.
Speaker 4 (43:58):
You knows, Anthony, But I can't, mother fucker.
Speaker 2 (44:02):
I can't wait till your son brings home.
Speaker 4 (44:04):
You know his you know his girlfriend, and you have
to meet them for the first time. I don't know
are you're gonna be good or you're gonna be bad? Man.
I can't tell you, dude, I can't.
Speaker 2 (44:14):
I have to be honest with you. I'm already upset.
My oldest is fifteen, okay, and like he's bigger than me,
and my little one will soon be bigger than me.
And he his voice is changing. He's twelve, he just
(44:35):
heard twelve.
Speaker 3 (44:36):
And his voice is changing.
Speaker 2 (44:38):
And and I'm already upset that. You know my little
boys are bigger, you know they're they're not little anymore.
Speaker 4 (44:47):
You here, I want you to be my girlfriend, Treasure.
She she's a cowboy fan.
Speaker 2 (44:53):
Yeah, oh my god. Oh well, the worst is the parents, right,
because you got to ge all over the parents.
Speaker 5 (45:01):
You do.
Speaker 4 (45:01):
You have to get along, and they were nice enough,
but you just don't wear pacer stuff when you're meeting
me for the first time. You put me in all.
Speaker 2 (45:08):
That's an interesting meet too, because you have people from
Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Speaker 4 (45:13):
Yeah, yeah, right, exactly.
Speaker 2 (45:15):
Middle of America for sure, meeting you, you know what
I mean, Like, it doesn't get a more bigger character
than you are, right from New York, lived all over
the world, you know.
Speaker 4 (45:29):
And he's a little bit of a gambler too, So
he's like, what do you think should I take the
pacers plus the points or I'm like, I hope they
go down. I hope they don't even play the.
Speaker 2 (45:38):
Game, to be honest, they're gonna lose. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (45:42):
You gotta get along, though, Anthony. You gotta do it
for the kid's.
Speaker 3 (45:45):
Sake, without a doubt.
Speaker 2 (45:50):
Man. Plus you gotta vie someday. God, you know, God
blessed you're gonna have a grand child.
Speaker 3 (45:56):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (45:56):
But but I I did stick it to him a
little bit. So we're you know, we're talking during the
thing and I'm in a sour mood and we're, you know,
we're talking about the wedding. I'm like, boy, I hope
you saved a lot of money, because you know, the
bride's family pays for the weddings, so did I was
gonna give him money, but now, forget about it. I'm
not giving you a dime. You're gonna have to pay
for the whole thing.
Speaker 3 (46:15):
Wait. Wait, wait, he's paid for the whole.
Speaker 4 (46:17):
Thing, the bride's the bride's family pays for the I
pay for the honeymoon, he pays for the wedding. You
like that, You like the way that works out?
Speaker 2 (46:26):
Oh? Really? Yeah?
Speaker 4 (46:27):
I mean I I was gonna give him money because
that is kind of unfair, but not now, not that
he's a Pacer fan.
Speaker 2 (46:33):
Forget about it, you know.
Speaker 3 (46:35):
Yeah, I felt that it's true daughter.
Speaker 4 (46:38):
Right, No, no, it's my son, true son.
Speaker 2 (46:41):
Yeah, it's my son. Yeah yeah yeah, yeah yeah yeah.
Speaker 4 (46:45):
He was a hockey player, so that's why we went much.
Speaker 3 (46:47):
Right, he was a really good hockey player.
Speaker 2 (46:49):
Yeah yeah, So so aren't so the uh are you
gonna you're gonna kick in?
Speaker 4 (46:55):
Yeah, I'll probably kick it after I'm not so bitter
and sour anymore. I mean it, it is kind of
one sided when you're asking them to pay for everything
and you just don't do anything but the you know, yeah, yeah,
just forget you know, you're just doing the honeymoon, and hey, why.
Speaker 2 (47:10):
Don't you your honeymoon? A wife, father of two boys.
I love it. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (47:15):
I know a guy that does radio. He has eight kids.
They're all girls, all girls.
Speaker 2 (47:21):
How about that? Huh?
Speaker 3 (47:22):
Oh my god.
Speaker 4 (47:23):
Yeah, he's he's not And you know what, he's had
two wives. One wife he had four girls, a pair
of twins and two girls. And the other wife a
pair of twins and two girls. I go, whatever you're eating,
stay away from me. I don't want that.
Speaker 2 (47:38):
Keep away.
Speaker 4 (47:40):
That's a lot of money and weddings, that's for sure.
Speaker 2 (47:42):
Oh my god, I love it.
Speaker 4 (47:45):
That's what you got to look forward to when your
son starts bringing home girls and you're planning weddings and
you're figuring, and you know, you got to do it
in the summer. You can't do it during football season.
Speaker 2 (47:56):
Or anything like that. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (47:58):
I had to put the kabash on that there, like, hey,
what do you think about September? I go, no, I
don't I don't think about September. We can we could
plan it in May, maybe June. That's the only two
months you guys are really pretty much getting there.
Speaker 3 (48:09):
That's it, man, what would you what?
Speaker 2 (48:12):
What? What? What would offend you the most? What team?
You can't tell me that the Patris offend you the most? No,
what team would offend me?
Speaker 4 (48:24):
I'm gonna be a hypocrite here because I'm a Dolphins
fan and I hate Buffalo bill fans. But my wife
is from Buffalo and she's a Buffalo Bills fan, So
I guess, I guess I'm a little bit of a hypocrite.
I can't stand the Bills fans. Sometimes I can't stand
my wife. Don't tell her I said that, but yeah,
she we go at it when the Bills. It's it's horrible.
(48:47):
We can't stay in the same room and watch the
Dolphins play the Bills. We have to we can't even
be like within a thousand feet. It's like, you know,
you have to go upstairs and I'll go downstairs.
Speaker 3 (48:56):
And oh, dude, I forgot about this with you.
Speaker 2 (49:01):
Yeah, I can't. I can't watch.
Speaker 3 (49:05):
To call you up.
Speaker 4 (49:08):
I can't watch the game with anybody. And if you're
on the if you're rooting for the other team, I
don't even watch in my house. I can't even have you.
Speaker 2 (49:15):
But I gotta answer the question because that was I
need to know the root of your fandom, Like, how
did that you who are just New York exudes from you? Yeah,
from your poors, like your accent. It doesn't get more
New York. I don't really have much of an accent, right, Yeah?
What how did you wind up as a Dolphins fan
(49:38):
not a Jets or Giants fan?
Speaker 4 (49:39):
I you know, there is a picture of me when
I was a kid with this Jets jacket on. I
think mostly is because my wife, my wife, my mom
got it for like free, so I used to wear it.
We didn't have a lot of money then. But I
was always a you know, I am a New Yorker
all through the Knicks. I used to be a big
Islanders fan, you know, big Mets fan. My kids Shay
(50:00):
for Shay Stadium. But when it came down the football,
you know, it's right, it was seventy two Dolphins when undefeated.
I was only like nine years old then, didn't have
much allegiance to the Jets or the Giants whatsoever. For
some reason, and the Dolphins were the hot team.
Speaker 2 (50:14):
They were going undefeated.
Speaker 4 (50:17):
All the talk was about them, and I just kind
of grated, you know, gradually, you know, just started becoming
a big fan of There's nothing they did other than
that great season, and ever since then though, they've just
pretty much stunk up to joint. Man, I've wint it
a long time. All my teams lose. My Knicks don't win,
My Dolphins, don't win. My Mets maybe a little once
(50:38):
or twice in the last fifty years, but all my
teams lose. Man, It's it's hard to be.
Speaker 3 (50:43):
Of the Bronx and be a Met fan, not a
Yankee fan.
Speaker 2 (50:46):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (50:47):
Never never was a Yankee guy. All my friends were
Yankee guys, and I just always was a Met guy.
Just never you know, it was all about queens and
growing up in the Bronx. You think it's an easy
transition to be a Yank fan. Never went to the
Yankee games, always always went to the Met games out there.
So I've always been different from everybody else, Anthony, What
(51:07):
can I do? I just always went opposite of everybody else.
Speaker 2 (51:10):
I could tell that I could tell where you were.
You were an Island. There's not a Rangers no.
Speaker 4 (51:15):
No, not a Rangers fan Islander fan out there.
Speaker 2 (51:18):
Why did you choose what? You know?
Speaker 4 (51:20):
My brother in law used to own the Islanders.
Speaker 2 (51:23):
What? Yeah, I used to own the Islanders.
Speaker 4 (51:26):
Who with Charles Wang? Remember that guy?
Speaker 2 (51:28):
Was he?
Speaker 3 (51:29):
The which guy was?
Speaker 4 (51:30):
I think it was Charles Wang? I think it was him.
They both old the Islanders together. So yeah, he he
was part owner of the Islanders. He ows like the
Bridgeports sound Tigers at one point. Yeah, my brother in
law is very rich.
Speaker 2 (51:45):
I can't compete with that.
Speaker 3 (51:47):
Yeah, yeah, wats are right? But you you grew up
an Islander fan, not.
Speaker 2 (51:51):
A Ranger fan. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (51:52):
I was all Islanders, man. It was all into that
Tanelly Nystrom, you know that whole thing, and uh BOSSI
and just great year three in a row. Yeah, and
Billy Smith the goalie. I mean, those are great years.
Speaker 2 (52:06):
That's what I was really and stole it because of
the linesman was off side in games in game six.
Speaker 4 (52:15):
I think like the Fires might have been up to
nothing in that game in the third too, and that
on has made a comeback.
Speaker 3 (52:20):
But yeah, you remember that he was off sides by mind, No, I.
Speaker 2 (52:23):
Didn't know that yeah, yeah, I didn't know that. Yes,
you're an interesting cat, dude. You really are. Yeah, that's
not what the boss says. But you really are, all right,
because I can only imagine you being on the uh
(52:44):
you being with the in laws to be in their
pacer guard match gard.
Speaker 4 (52:50):
I mean, look, they're they're nice enough people, but I'm
sure I'm not the only one in that situation. Could
you imagine people listening right now saying, hey, that's nothing, man,
I'm a I'm a diehard Cowboy fan and they brought
over like an.
Speaker 2 (53:03):
Eagle fan or something like that.
Speaker 4 (53:06):
Believe me, there's marriages that have been destroyed over fandom.
You know that, Anthony, Come on, man, there's I'm sure marriage.
Speaker 3 (53:14):
You you married a Bills fan.
Speaker 2 (53:16):
I know what am I think?
Speaker 4 (53:21):
That's four years of losing.
Speaker 2 (53:27):
Yeah, well guess what. That's pretty crazy. Do you like
where your Dolphins are now?
Speaker 4 (53:31):
I liked where they were last year. I'm a little
concerned coming into this year. They really didn't make any moves.
I don't know how good Tyreek Hill's going to be.
Speaker 2 (53:38):
He worries me.
Speaker 4 (53:39):
We don't have that explosiveness like we did the last
couple of years. People say they should make a waddle
the number one receiver. I think we'll be better in
the running game, hopefully will stay healthy. Defensively, I'm a
little worried about that since they're going to give up Ramsey,
but that's okay. They'll bring in somebody to take his spot.
The divisions a lot better too. I think the Jets
(54:01):
are gonna be a lot better. I think New England
certainly has the possibility of being better.
Speaker 2 (54:06):
And we know what the Bulls's gonna be good down.
I have a little bit later on the show, we're
gonna play NFL twenty Questions twenty questions in the NFL
for you. But if we're going to talk about this
for one second, I look at them and I go,
I look at that division. I don't see anybody touch
(54:27):
a buffalo like I think they run away with it.
Speaker 4 (54:30):
Probably you're probably right about that, though, Like I said,
the other three teams I think have closed the gap
a little bit. Last year was like, oh, it was guaranteed.
Matter of fact, I do this kind of like every year.
If you look at last year and coming into it,
I think like five of the divisions were like already decided.
I mean, coming in you know that Buffalo is already
gonna win the division, that's guaranteed. You already know that
(54:52):
Baltimore is gonna win the AFC North, that that's pretty
much guaranteed. You pretty much know that Houston's gonna win
the a FC South guaranteed, and that Kansas City is
going to win the AFC West guaranteed. So the AFC
is already done. You can forget about that. Philadelphia is
gonna win the East in the NFC. That's one guaranteed,
(55:14):
and then maybe the other three divisions are a little
bit open if you don't want to go with Detroit
in the NFC North. But you know, six of the
eight divisions you could pretty much say are locked up already. Anthony,
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (55:26):
I listen.
Speaker 2 (55:28):
You know I respect the chiefs, you know, to the
utmost right, I respect.
Speaker 3 (55:34):
I love Andy Reid.
Speaker 2 (55:35):
I you know, UH love spags at Mahomes.
Speaker 3 (55:40):
You know great.
Speaker 2 (55:41):
I don't know if they fixed that old line that
was a major issue last year.
Speaker 4 (55:45):
You don't think they're gonna win the division.
Speaker 2 (55:47):
Well, dude, I mean, don't sell horrible short.
Speaker 4 (55:51):
I'll bet my job on it to win the division.
Speaker 2 (55:56):
I mean, seriously, I would not say that.
Speaker 4 (56:00):
I mean, really, they're such a favorite. Who's going to
jump up? But it's not going to be the Raiders,
you know what I mean. The Broncos are still a
good team.
Speaker 3 (56:07):
No.
Speaker 2 (56:09):
I talked about the Chargers for a reason because the
Chargers are legit. Harball is a winner. Harball is a
great coach. He knows how to build winning teams. Yeah. See,
though I love kids like I love those guys I'm
very close to. You know, my kids call Steve Spagnola
(56:33):
and Uncle Spags all right, so no, because they were
all in Philly, right right right, so very close. I
think Andy is the best coach in the history of
the league. Like, that's how I feel about you and
he he's a beautiful man, like a great guy. In
addition to being a great coach, he's an even better guy.
He's a wonderful man. I mean, I love Andy and
(56:57):
great So like what I tell you, I give you this.
That's how I personally I feel if I'm looking at it.
They the people talk about Mahomes's numbers. It was all
about their O line.
Speaker 4 (57:09):
Yeah, they weren't big numbers last year like they were
the years before. I will give you that.
Speaker 2 (57:14):
All because but the reason was twofold one. You know,
you're still dealing with no Tyreek kill, right. So they
had a lot of injuries. Are their skill guys, but
primarily their O line was was not good.
Speaker 4 (57:30):
And I don't think they had a good running back
situation either, to be honest.
Speaker 2 (57:33):
You know Rice got hurt. I mean that was a
big deal, but the weir O line. Listen, everything starts
from up front. I know it's cliche, the whole thing,
but I bore witness to it. The Eagles have the
best offensive line in football.
Speaker 4 (57:48):
Right, and that's what they were lacking. That quick quick question.
But you know, I sent you a whole bunch of
topics and you're kind of hitting on topic.
Speaker 2 (57:55):
Roman numeral number eight.
Speaker 4 (57:56):
You notice how I love to do Roman numerals. The
Roman get Kansas City. They're thinking about either renovating Arrowhead
or putting in a new stadium that's going to be
a dome. What would you want? Would you want an
open air stadium or did you.
Speaker 2 (58:11):
I like that topic and I was going to bring
that up to you in general, So we'll do that
coming up next. We're the Fellas. Arnie is in for
Fitzie a Man right here Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 5 (58:23):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at foxsports Radio

listen live.
Speaker 2 (58:36):
All right, Fellas, Arnie in for Fitzie a Man Fellas
every week right here on Fox Sports Radio. We talk
a lot first hour about last night Game four, OKC
with the amazing win. I mean, you know they're they're
teetering all game long, SGA struggling and he is playing
(58:59):
great defense to gain another big contribution from their bench.
But okay, see hangs around, hangs around, hangs around and
steals Game four. Uh, Game five Monday Night, which we
both find inexplicable. Yeah, it's ridiculous, ridiculous real quick.
Speaker 4 (59:16):
But you said Monday night. And I know this is
going to be an unpopular opinion. If you look at
Monday night football rankings or ratings, they've been down every
year for like the last twenty to twenty five years.
Maybe it's time that we get rid of Monday night football.
I mean, maybe that's played out. I've definitely played out
on Sunday night football. So maybe one of them's got
(59:37):
to go. You don't like that, You're gonna hang up
on me now and.
Speaker 2 (59:41):
Get rid of Monday night football.
Speaker 4 (59:44):
Ratings are down, ratings are down.
Speaker 2 (59:46):
Guard I don't believe.
Speaker 3 (59:49):
First of all, I don't believe it.
Speaker 4 (59:50):
No, it is Look if you I don't believe that.
Speaker 3 (59:52):
I don't believe it.
Speaker 2 (59:53):
I don't. I think it's fake news. I don't believe
all right, whatever I could hear right, get rid of
Monday night football.
Speaker 4 (01:00:04):
Well, one of them's got to go. Sunday, Sunday night
or Monday night, one of them's got to go. You
know it''s over saturating the market.
Speaker 3 (01:00:11):
No, we're not.
Speaker 4 (01:00:12):
Then you got the Thursday night, you got Saturday games,
got Sunday games.
Speaker 2 (01:00:16):
Yes, give me Tuesday too. No, I okay inside, No,
you know, Mark Cuban was right.
Speaker 4 (01:00:24):
If you're gonna start putting NFL all over the place
sooner or later, it's gonna oversatirize the market. It really I.
Speaker 2 (01:00:30):
Disagree with that. I read Mark Cuban is wrong. I
disagree with it. So they didn't get big ratings for
Christmas because I realized I didn't see the NBA speaking
of ratings, right, I think I think they got trounced
by the NFL.
Speaker 4 (01:00:46):
No, yes they did. I mean, that's what you're gonna
get when you go up against the NFL.
Speaker 2 (01:00:51):
Though they show so obviously there's not a big ratings
crunch in the in the NFL.
Speaker 4 (01:00:56):
No, but on Monday night football there is no.
Speaker 3 (01:00:59):
I'm not I don't pull it. I don't believe it.
Speaker 2 (01:01:01):
I don't believe I'll pull it up.
Speaker 4 (01:01:02):
I'll pull it up when I have.
Speaker 3 (01:01:04):
Yeah, whatever is, send it to me, because I don't
believe it. I don't.
Speaker 2 (01:01:09):
I think it's ridiculous, And for you to even think
it out loud, it's a violation.
Speaker 4 (01:01:17):
Human resources on me.
Speaker 2 (01:01:19):
You you you you grew up in the heyday of
Monday night football.
Speaker 4 (01:01:23):
Oh of course Howard Cosell, Who I mean? That guy
is still alive in our eyes, you know what I mean?
Speaker 2 (01:01:28):
It was great. So you you grew up in this
era of Monday night football and you want to get.
Speaker 3 (01:01:37):
Rid of it.
Speaker 4 (01:01:38):
I'm thinking it's running its course. You know, eventually everything
runs its course.
Speaker 6 (01:01:42):
There.
Speaker 4 (01:01:43):
You can't have everything your old school. I see though,
your old school. You want to keep everything the way
it is, keep everything.
Speaker 3 (01:01:51):
The way it is. Not I want to add to it.
I love adding to.
Speaker 4 (01:01:54):
It well that we've added the Sunday night, We've added
the Thursday night. It works much.
Speaker 2 (01:02:02):
Here march.
Speaker 4 (01:02:05):
I pulled up one of the things it says here
they were talking about the ratings. It says fifteen million
viewers per game average for the twenty twenty four season
was a fourteen percent drop compared.
Speaker 2 (01:02:17):
To the previous year.
Speaker 4 (01:02:19):
I think if you look back at overall Monday Night
foot series, what season Monday Night from last year and
had a fourteen percent drop?
Speaker 2 (01:02:26):
I believe in Monday Night Football, Okay, and it still
is the number one show.
Speaker 4 (01:02:32):
It is, right, Yes, I mean sports is always if
the top fifty shows are our sporting events.
Speaker 2 (01:02:37):
And it's always the NFL the top fifty shows, yes,
forty seven or the NFL and three or college football.
Speaker 4 (01:02:43):
And I think some of it has to do with
the way we watch it with the Internet. I know
they can't be counting every which way possible when it
comes to the Internet and Twitter and Facebook and TikTok.
Speaker 2 (01:02:52):
And all that. Right, you have multi platforms, Yeah, and
people watch it in a multitude of ways, right, they
can assume it. That's why I look at when you
bring these ratings up and this up. I think it's nonsense.
Speaker 4 (01:03:07):
Well, but you know, there's a reason why companies like
ESPN sell off their college championships or you know, they
just can't afford it. They can't you know, make any
money off it because the ratings dictate how much you're
going to get for that. So they have to say,
we're going to sell it off because we want to
keep part of it, but we just can't keep all
of it. That that does play a big part, you know,
(01:03:28):
when when you figure out which channel or which.
Speaker 2 (01:03:30):
Company is going to carry these games. What do you
mean they can't afford the NFL well rights fees.
Speaker 4 (01:03:37):
Yeah, they're through the roof. It's crazy.
Speaker 2 (01:03:39):
Yeah, well that's why you know, that's where NFL is
where it's at. But but but I'm confused that you
would even have this this.
Speaker 4 (01:03:49):
Take you see, you know, you don't think people listening
right now are like, hey, dude, Monday night football is
run its course, especially especially well if you if you
took away Sunday night football, maybe I wouldn't have that
opinion anymore.
Speaker 2 (01:04:03):
But why, I mean, why are you looking to take
stuff away?
Speaker 4 (01:04:06):
It's not that I love the traditional Sunday one o'clock
four o'clock games. Okay, And I think when we have
like two games at the four o'clock window and it's
always the Raiders or Denver, I mean, you're you're killing
the afternoon the afternoon games. It's truly almost to the
point where it's it's interesting because you have the same teams.
Speaker 2 (01:04:25):
It's the NFL. I know it's the NFL, but mixing
up a little bit.
Speaker 4 (01:04:30):
Don't give me two or three games to watch. I
want to have like five or six.
Speaker 2 (01:04:35):
Okay if you but that's not smart. First of all,
if you're the league. First of all, you can't personally
consume six games.
Speaker 4 (01:04:45):
Well we're doing it Sunday mornings. We're having like eight
games to.
Speaker 2 (01:04:49):
Go through that.
Speaker 3 (01:04:49):
But you can't consume it.
Speaker 4 (01:04:51):
No, you could do you have the red zones. I
don't watch games, by the way, I just watch Red
Zone Channel. I don't watch games anymore.
Speaker 2 (01:04:59):
Okay, I just like it. I like games. I like
to watch the game.
Speaker 4 (01:05:03):
Well, then so you don't watch then you don't like football,
because I don't know how you're gonna watch everything. You
gotta have the Red Zone channel. You have no choice.
You have to watch everything going.
Speaker 2 (01:05:10):
No, No, actually I don't because I have the all
the all twenty.
Speaker 3 (01:05:14):
Two that I get every week, so.
Speaker 2 (01:05:19):
Incorrect, and I like the the real drama of a
game like we watch it on fold, you know, not
just watch highlights, because that's what the red zone is.
Speaker 4 (01:05:29):
No, I understand that.
Speaker 2 (01:05:30):
And I'm not ripping red zone because everybody likes it,
and I get it. I mean, I know, I know
people love it, and I know that's their their most
upset with the NFL because you know, they like, you
like to have all these whip arounds and you get
to see of course.
Speaker 3 (01:05:47):
You have all the scoring plays. I mean, I get it.
Speaker 4 (01:05:49):
So fantasy football has a lot to do with that also.
Speaker 2 (01:05:52):
Yeah, I mean listen, I love fantasy football too, I
get it. So you know whatever, But Moley point, if
you're the NFL, you your inventory of Sunday games means
something because each they've proven that they could put on
any game and people will watch it. Yes, that's what
(01:06:13):
That's what the most interesting aspect of the of the
NFL and TV has come about, which is that we'll
watch anything the NFL puts on. And we saw it,
you know Christmas, right, like they on a Wednesday. Christmas
is on a Wednesday, the worst day to have in
the NFL game, right, They figured out a way to
(01:06:37):
put two teams on, put two games on, and they
own it like it.
Speaker 3 (01:06:43):
Wasn't even closed the NBA. In the NBA, it didn't
even register.
Speaker 2 (01:06:48):
No, you're right about that Black Friday where everybody watched
people straight they broke the streamer, right, it was the
whole thing Amazon. Nah, it's gonna hurt Thursday Night Football too.
It's gonna hurt. It's gonna hurt because it's on the
streamer now and what happened. People found it.
Speaker 4 (01:07:07):
People found it. But there people do complain about. They're like,
I can't change the channel during the commercials because then
I gotta get off that.
Speaker 2 (01:07:14):
Of course we're always going to complain about, right, change.
It's it's a matter of change. Right, I'm the same way.
I have my remote and I have my last button.
Speaker 4 (01:07:24):
Exactly right, exactly.
Speaker 2 (01:07:25):
You know when you're streaming, you gotta get out of
the Yeah, back what.
Speaker 3 (01:07:31):
It is.
Speaker 2 (01:07:32):
But you know this is this is how change happens, right,
It's it'll it will become more seamless in the future.
But Molly points to you is that we consume every
like we want to consume every game.
Speaker 3 (01:07:45):
So sooner or later.
Speaker 2 (01:07:46):
Do you remember the NCAA tournament like in the you know,
I'm an you know I grew up in the eighties
and nineties, right right right, So the tournament you would
have groupings of games, like all the early games would
tip off the same time. It's only over the last
(01:08:07):
fifteen years where they started to stagger of the times.
Speaker 4 (01:08:10):
So you can check it all out, right, But.
Speaker 2 (01:08:13):
Before they would do the whip around, remember the whip around,
and they would have all four games both at the
same time, and they had the quad box, and the
original quad box was during the NCAA tournament and you
had all that stuff. Then they realized that each of
their games was like inventory on a shelf, and they're like, well,
why are we giving this away when we could sell
(01:08:35):
packages to television that spans the whole day. What's the
same thing to the NFL. Why do you think the
international makes sense for them? So beyond just the manifest
destiny piece of it, it's another time slot that they own.
So now nine point thirty in the morning, Eastern Easter time,
(01:08:59):
they own it.
Speaker 4 (01:09:00):
Yeah, but does that hurt ratings when they go in
and put it on that early, does it or do
you not care? And it helps ratings, but you have
such an international audience that it doesn't really matter and
you're just gonna put.
Speaker 2 (01:09:10):
It on anyway. Here's the thing.
Speaker 3 (01:09:12):
Do you think that a network not going to want
those games?
Speaker 2 (01:09:18):
Of course absolutely? Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:09:20):
But usually it's like Jacksonville or something like that.
Speaker 3 (01:09:22):
You want to people are still watching.
Speaker 2 (01:09:25):
We still get up and well, if there's a game on,
an NFL game, you're not putting it on, of course
you are.
Speaker 4 (01:09:33):
Well, it's nine thirty our time, it's not six thirty
in the morning on the West coast.
Speaker 2 (01:09:37):
Hey, regardless if you were if we six thirty Eastern time,
what you put it on?
Speaker 4 (01:09:42):
Probably yes, I'm up and watching it.
Speaker 2 (01:09:44):
Of course you would.
Speaker 3 (01:09:45):
You would watch it you put it on.
Speaker 2 (01:09:48):
It's become so much part of our culture that we love.
So the NFL smartly gets that each of its games
is uh inventory on the shelf.
Speaker 4 (01:10:01):
Yeah, I disagree with that when you say it's a
culture we've become the love. I think there's a lot
of people that are burnt out on the Let's go
to Germany, let's go to Spain, let's go here, let's
go to London, you know, and they're just burnt out
on these overseas games. It's okay to have one or two,
but you're taking away a home game from from these teams,
some of them.
Speaker 2 (01:10:20):
Yeah, well that's why until they go to it today eighteen,
the eighteen game schedule happened.
Speaker 4 (01:10:24):
Right right, Yeah, that won't happen more. Yeah, and that
won't make that much of a difference at that point.
Speaker 2 (01:10:29):
But my plan, I mean, like we my point is
is that we like to complain over right, but in reality,
you love it, Like, so what what's the pretense? Like
why even why even like you want to get rid
of Monday night football?
Speaker 4 (01:10:48):
Nobody even even you would say you can't have it
on every day. You can't. You can't go ahead and
just say let's do it on Tuesdays. And then we
got Christmas and Thanksgiving and Thursdays and Sunday It's and
Monday nights and don't forget at the end of the year,
we'll have them on Saturday when there's no college football.
Speaker 2 (01:11:05):
I mean, you're just spreading yourself thin, No, you're you're
you're spreading yourself beautifully, like peanut butter.
Speaker 4 (01:11:13):
All smooth peanut butter, not the crunchy, got right.
Speaker 3 (01:11:16):
I mean it's brilliant.
Speaker 2 (01:11:19):
By the way, Yeah, what's.
Speaker 3 (01:11:22):
The what's the beef?
Speaker 4 (01:11:25):
The beef with what the beef?
Speaker 3 (01:11:29):
Too much football?
Speaker 4 (01:11:31):
No, it's I don't have a beef with it so much.
I just kind of said, hey, look, the ratings for
Monday Night were down. I'm a little you know, by
the time Monday Night comes in, But by the time
Monday Night comes around, I'm a little football out.
Speaker 7 (01:11:44):
You know.
Speaker 4 (01:11:44):
I've got all day Saturday, college football, all day Sunday,
I got the Sunday night, you know, Monday night football
on a little bit late on.
Speaker 3 (01:11:55):
Troy Aikman.
Speaker 4 (01:11:57):
Now, don't make me say that. And of course I
love those as of course, there's no nothing, nothing against them.
I'm just saying, by the time I football, of course.
Speaker 3 (01:12:05):
You're watching, you may not stay the whole game.
Speaker 4 (01:12:08):
I was just about to say, I was just about
to say, after years said of course you're watching. Let's
let's pull the people on the East Coast, see how
many people are watching after halftime. Let's see how many
people are doing that when they have to go to
work in the next day.
Speaker 2 (01:12:22):
I mean, dude, I mean I never even understood that,
like now a living yeah, but now or like whatever,
I get up. I have a morning show, so I
get up. You know, curious what time do you get up?
Like at four? Well, it's it's my morning. Is not
the traditional morning. So luckily, luckily I started nine. So oh, okay,
(01:12:49):
listen to you.
Speaker 3 (01:12:51):
So you know, it's all right.
Speaker 2 (01:12:53):
I'm in the office by I'm in the studio by
like seven, seven thirty.
Speaker 4 (01:12:57):
But okay, so not too bad.
Speaker 2 (01:13:00):
It's it's not like what I used to do it before.
It was horrible getting.
Speaker 4 (01:13:03):
Off for I know that.
Speaker 2 (01:13:04):
I believe I hated that because I would stay up
all night watch games and then sleep for three hours,
then have to do the show, and then take naps every.
Speaker 4 (01:13:12):
Day, three hour naps. I'm seriously, I would take three
hour naps. Yeah, that's how crazy it is.
Speaker 2 (01:13:17):
Yeah, yeah, all right, Uh we're gonna we never answered
your question. We'll do that next dome in Kansas City Dome.
Not so sure, fellas right here. Fox Sports Radio. Hey
for the best pregame show every weekend, be sure to
tune into Fox Sports Radios Countdown, presented by Bett MGM
(01:13:41):
every Saturday and Sunday morning right after us none em
the noon eastern six to nine Pacific, we will count
you down to all the biggest games. Tune into Countdown
presented by Ben MGM every Saturday and Sunday morning right
here on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 3 (01:13:58):
All right, let me ask.
Speaker 2 (01:13:59):
You this, yeah quickly, because you brought it up and
it's interesting. So the Chiefs will have to choose from hey,
getting a brand new stadium.
Speaker 4 (01:14:08):
A dome Stone stadium, yeah in.
Speaker 2 (01:14:10):
Kansas City, or do a refurbished arrowhead right right?
Speaker 4 (01:14:16):
You know, Wow, let's take money aside, because I think
it's three hundred and fifty million dollars cheaper to redo arrowheads.
That's the easy answer. That's the cop out answer. You
can save three hundred and fifty million dollars. Let's take
that out for a second. I mean, we're talking about
atmosphere and all that for the fans. Matter of fact,
it's interesting because I know everybody's going to say, oh,
(01:14:36):
I want Arrowhead, we want to refurbish it. I was
on Twitter. I want you to hear. Listen to this
from a Chiefs fan. It says here, ready for the
Kansas Dome season ticket holders since two thousand and nine,
been to the last three Super Bowls and every playoff game,
and honestly, at forty I'm tired of the minus twenty
five degrees AFC Championship games.
Speaker 2 (01:14:56):
It was fun.
Speaker 4 (01:14:57):
I've done it. We have mahomes now I'm ready for
some climate control football games. Arrowhead had a great run.
We'll never forget it. And I can understand that. Thinking
you don't want to go to games when it's minus
twenty five and you're freezing. Maybe you go once, and
that's a fun thing. It's a good thing to kind
of you know, have a memory of that. But a
(01:15:17):
dome that kind of takes away the personality. It kind
of takes a little bit from your home field.
Speaker 2 (01:15:22):
I believe, dude. I feel you, because yeah, yeah, there's
a lot of talk in my in my neck of
the woods in Philadelphia about a new stadium. They're talking
about a dome here.
Speaker 4 (01:15:37):
But it's better for the fans though. It's all about
the fan experience and that dome.
Speaker 2 (01:15:43):
Yeah, it's better, I hear you. And here's the issue, right,
because Arrowhead is have you been there? It's an amazing stadium,
right right, So you feel, it feels exudes football, Like
you go to Arrowhead and you look up and it's
like all those the charcoal great Scott, it's.
Speaker 4 (01:16:04):
Still the same fans though, it's still the same excitement.
I know.
Speaker 3 (01:16:08):
Yeah, And look you can argue that.
Speaker 2 (01:16:11):
You know, it gets loud in Minnesota, and it gets
loud in Detroit and you're too great, too great, you
know football towns.
Speaker 3 (01:16:19):
There's something that's unholy about a dome.
Speaker 2 (01:16:26):
It just doesn't work for you.
Speaker 4 (01:16:27):
Is that is that fans experience or does it take
away from your home field?
Speaker 2 (01:16:32):
You know, it takes away from home field. It takes
away from the essence of football. Like, but the fans
are the reason you have home field.
Speaker 4 (01:16:43):
The fans make it why you have three points for
home field advantage.
Speaker 2 (01:16:47):
It's not the field. But also like you could build
a team like the Eagles built a downhill running team
with a big old line and a couple of game
wreckers on their d line, and you know, if that's
a dome, they.
Speaker 3 (01:17:03):
Might lose to the Rams in the divisional round. Last year.
Speaker 4 (01:17:08):
Well, somebody text us and said, well, build a Everybody
in the New England area should have a retractable roof. Well,
who's gonna open up the roof and it's negative twenty
five degree?
Speaker 2 (01:17:16):
That's it.
Speaker 3 (01:17:17):
Nobody's gonna do that. No, No, I got it.
Speaker 2 (01:17:19):
And when it snows, nobody's gonna want to clean it up,
and nobody's gonna want to be outside.
Speaker 4 (01:17:25):
Like Buffalo, they have you shoveling the seats before the game.
Speaker 2 (01:17:29):
Like you know, you're the Bills, And there's a charm
to that, right, like Bill's Mafia and the cold and
the snow, and you know you got a quarterback that
can go.
Speaker 4 (01:17:39):
About the rain too, Don't forget. I remember when my
father and I were in McDonald's. I was just a
kid and the guy next to me is holding up
four Ram Minnesota playoff tickets and me, being a smart ass,
I go, Hey, which to it for me and my dad?
And he hands me two tickets and we go to
the game Anthony, and it was pouring rain and my
dad puts up the umbrella and the guy top some
(01:18:00):
of the shoulder behind me goes, no, no, sir, no unbrothers,
in this game, we can't see you. Just gotta suck
it up and let.
Speaker 2 (01:18:07):
It right on you.
Speaker 4 (01:18:08):
It was poor. It was a fourteen to seven game,
and I still have that experience I still remember to
this day. I mean, and my dad just sitting in
the pouring rain enjoying a playoff game. I mean, you
don't have experiences like that when you have a dome,
you know, I mean, it takes away from that answer.
Speaker 3 (01:18:23):
That's the thing. There's a charm. It feels yes, septic, yes, yes, charm.
Speaker 2 (01:18:28):
What it does is if all of a sudden, you're
gonna add a domie Kansas City, You're gonna add a
dome in New England, you're gonna add a dome in Philadelphia.
But it is nicer experience, yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:18:39):
Yeah, But what happens is it becomes antiseptic.
Speaker 2 (01:18:41):
It becomes homogenized, right, Like, you know, what makes football
beautiful is the fact that it's played differently in different places.
You're right about that.
Speaker 4 (01:18:54):
But when you have a dome and it's all nice
and shiny, and you're adding the restaurants and who maybe
a movie if you're a bully guy, yeah, I don't know.
Whatever whatever you're doing, you know, you get all that
fun stuff you get when you're building a dome that
you're not gonna get if you just leave it open.
You know what I mean, it's not the same thing.
Speaker 3 (01:19:10):
You really care about balling out.
Speaker 2 (01:19:11):
No, I just doesn't really care about like what another
restaurant didn't overcharge and it's bad food that's overcharged.
Speaker 4 (01:19:20):
Yes, that's exactly what you need.
Speaker 3 (01:19:21):
You need, we need that.
Speaker 2 (01:19:24):
Yes, charm the sport and I get it. Like you know,
it's not fun sitting out in twenty eight degree weather. No, no,
it isn't. But there is a uniqueness about your team,
like I think I would want if I was an owner,
I would want the cold. You know. Anyway, Fellas Big
Hour coming up next right here on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (01:19:48):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.
Speaker 2 (01:19:51):
Well, good morning, good morning, good good morning, every buddy,
heavy heavy heavy, uh Fox Sports at all, Arnie, you
heard him.
Speaker 4 (01:20:02):
I'm a little sour right now. I've just got some
disturbing news at the break, very disturbing news. Well, you
know what, We're all very close here at Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (01:20:13):
You know that, don't you.
Speaker 4 (01:20:14):
We have producers, technical directors, update people.
Speaker 3 (01:20:18):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:20:18):
Well, in fact, I love our our producer, our production team,
Mighty Mark and Brianna. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:20:25):
I used to like our producers too. I had a
producer when I was working on the weekends.
Speaker 2 (01:20:33):
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (01:20:33):
You know Ryan Berschinger, Yeah, yeah, he was my producer
for like eight years, maybe fifty years, I don't know.
We've got to make all the mistakes on my show,
and then when he became good, we let him go
to another show, you know, once he became good after.
But me and bursch we're I close. We're like, you know,
two p's in a pod. Yeah, you know, we're just
peanut butter and jelly. We're that close.
Speaker 2 (01:20:56):
I found out today just now.
Speaker 4 (01:20:59):
Matter of fact, Brianna told me our producer and technical director,
that Pershinger is getting married next weekend and I wasn't
invited to the wedding.
Speaker 2 (01:21:09):
Why wouldn't you invite me to the wedding?
Speaker 4 (01:21:11):
I wouldn't go anyway, and at least you get a
free gift out of it. So why and after all
the years you were my producer, you don't invite me
to the wedding. I don't understand this, Anthony. I don't
understand this man.
Speaker 3 (01:21:23):
And you guys, he was your producer for eight years perch.
Speaker 4 (01:21:26):
Yeah, maybe more like fifty years.
Speaker 2 (01:21:27):
I don't know, it could have been that long. No, listen,
you deserve the invite, of course I do. Of course
that What is now? I need to know a couple
of things. One, you know, what is the size of
the invitation list doesn't matter. I got to make the list.
Speaker 3 (01:21:42):
Yeah, what do you think?
Speaker 7 (01:21:44):
It was pretty small? We were thinking like one twenty.
Speaker 4 (01:21:49):
You're going one twenty. I didn't make the top one
hundred and twenty people. He knows, he doesn't even know
one hundred and twenty people.
Speaker 2 (01:21:56):
Understanding he got family. He didn't make the cut.
Speaker 4 (01:22:00):
I didn't make the cut. I don't understand what. There
were sixty people and everybody got a plus one. Not
everybody should be getting plus one.
Speaker 7 (01:22:07):
You wouldn't have phown a halfway across the country.
Speaker 2 (01:22:10):
But you get a free gift from me?
Speaker 4 (01:22:12):
Still get him a gift? So what a minute? Not
only did I not get invited, he didn't even invite me,
just in case I would fly from Vermond to Los
Angeles to be there.
Speaker 2 (01:22:22):
He didn't even.
Speaker 4 (01:22:22):
Invite me for the freak gift.
Speaker 2 (01:22:25):
He didn't even invite me for the free gift. Anthony, Geez,
I think you should still get him a gift. He
so barely did not want you there. You want to
risk the free gift.
Speaker 4 (01:22:37):
Yeah, and look that's that's his that's his problem because
now he misses out on the ten dollars I was
gonna give him, but you know, hey, he must not
need the money, then, Anthony, what can I say?
Speaker 2 (01:22:47):
I don't need the money.
Speaker 7 (01:22:48):
I'll send you the link to send the gift.
Speaker 4 (01:22:50):
Yeah, I'll go. I'll go buy him a blender from Target.
I'm sure that's where he's you know, he has his
list for people to buy him stuff.
Speaker 2 (01:22:57):
So I'll go get him a blender.
Speaker 4 (01:22:58):
He didn't want to wear the wrong team or around you.
There you go, that's that's I buy him like a
NFL bod.
Speaker 7 (01:23:09):
Oh, it's next week.
Speaker 2 (01:23:10):
It's next next week. Yeah.
Speaker 7 (01:23:12):
I was gonna go Shakira Friday and then the wedding Saturday.
So that was like my plan.
Speaker 2 (01:23:16):
You're going to the wedding.
Speaker 4 (01:23:17):
I guess everybody's going to the wedding.
Speaker 7 (01:23:20):
No, not everybody.
Speaker 4 (01:23:21):
One hundred and twenty people are going to the.
Speaker 7 (01:23:23):
Wedding, but a limited amount of people from Fox Sports
Radio are going, and then his family.
Speaker 4 (01:23:29):
How many people from Fox Sports one hundred and nine.
Speaker 7 (01:23:33):
I would say combined producers. No, well, we need people
here still like we can't all go right, So yeah,
I would say a good like four of us are
going four or five.
Speaker 4 (01:23:49):
I didn't even know he was dating anybody yet one
getting married.
Speaker 7 (01:23:52):
They've been together like three years.
Speaker 2 (01:23:53):
I told you what I know about him, my producer
for one hundred years.
Speaker 7 (01:23:56):
It's okay, I'll take pictures and send them cheese to
go be there in spirit.
Speaker 4 (01:24:02):
Yeah, put a picture of me up there so I
can say something.
Speaker 7 (01:24:04):
Oh, even better, I could do that.
Speaker 4 (01:24:07):
Thanks for staying in touch with him. Yes, exactly, exactly.
Speaker 2 (01:24:11):
Could you imagine what Arnie does his weddings.
Speaker 4 (01:24:15):
Haven't That's why I don't get invited to them.
Speaker 2 (01:24:17):
I guess you know.
Speaker 4 (01:24:17):
He brings his own TV by his table. You can't
get me. See, he's picking the right time to get married.
You can't get married.
Speaker 2 (01:24:24):
Like I said, during football season.
Speaker 4 (01:24:26):
That's just not going to work out, you know, especially
if you're in a college town.
Speaker 2 (01:24:30):
Nobody's going to go to your wedding. They're going to
say forget about it. Yeah, I get that. I love
the fact that you're offended by this.
Speaker 4 (01:24:37):
I am offended by it. Seriously, I'm not kidding around.
Speaker 2 (01:24:40):
The guy was He really did not want to risk.
Speaker 4 (01:24:44):
Like I was going to get on a flight and
fly all the way from Vermonto.
Speaker 3 (01:24:49):
He's telling his fiance, So, baby.
Speaker 2 (01:24:51):
Don't risk it.
Speaker 3 (01:24:52):
Should we have Arnie? Should we invite Onnie and his wife?
Speaker 2 (01:24:56):
No?
Speaker 4 (01:24:56):
No, don't do it.
Speaker 2 (01:24:57):
It's not even like I was going to bring my wife.
Is he going to fly from Vermont to Ageles? No?
Do we really want to do? Everyone says it's not
worth it. It's not worth whatever whatever gifts he was
going to said, it ain't worth the fact that what
if he does.
Speaker 4 (01:25:17):
It and Bree got invitation over me, she probably got
the one.
Speaker 2 (01:25:21):
That I was to me. I have known him for
like eight years.
Speaker 7 (01:25:24):
I was an intern here eight years ago.
Speaker 4 (01:25:27):
Wow, roll that back in my face.
Speaker 7 (01:25:30):
Well, I'm just saying I'm not just a random does.
Speaker 2 (01:25:32):
Mark our producer? Is he going to the wedding? No,
I'm not going. You shouldn't go.
Speaker 4 (01:25:36):
I wasn't invited.
Speaker 2 (01:25:38):
You shouldn't be.
Speaker 4 (01:25:39):
I bet you invited all the bosses too. He's sucking
up to all the bosses. I'll invite all the bosses
I know.
Speaker 7 (01:25:46):
I don't think so. Just I think Mike Linguard's going obviously,
that's his boss that's our boss.
Speaker 2 (01:25:53):
So he's going, gosh, disrespect. I love how I love
how al he's offended one hundred.
Speaker 7 (01:26:01):
You know, I picks fly and I get married, Arnie,
I will invite you.
Speaker 4 (01:26:04):
Well, so you can say, no, you know what, Stott
married invites everybody but you.
Speaker 2 (01:26:10):
How about that. I know there's a bunch of losers
out there. You'll you're gonna get You're going to get
a go one.
Speaker 7 (01:26:16):
Okay, let's let's let's put it out there that it's
a good one though.
Speaker 2 (01:26:20):
You're going to go. You're going to get a go one.
Don't worry, don't worry.
Speaker 4 (01:26:24):
I worry you a little bit.
Speaker 2 (01:26:25):
Yeah, yeah, have you been Arnie? Just tell her to
tell her to worry stop.
Speaker 4 (01:26:34):
Hey, you know, are you on are you on Tinder
or something stuff like that? No, God, you know what
we should int I just thought of a great idea today.
Speaker 2 (01:26:42):
I'm not kidding around.
Speaker 4 (01:26:43):
Girls go on a dating website and it's just for
sports fans. So you could go, I'm just gonna look
up Eagle fans or Cowboy fans, or New York Nick
fans or Laker fans.
Speaker 7 (01:26:55):
And what you could just named all the worst fans.
Speaker 4 (01:26:57):
I would never nobody. You could date people. You could
date people that are you're fans of the same team.
And that's how that's a genius. Don't steal that idea
from me, that that's a genius idea. I like that.
Speaker 2 (01:27:09):
We did this whole thing years ago. I did it
called the four for four dating game. So I did
this thing called four for four, which is Phil He's
got four teams, and you know, you foul you were
a fan of those four teams, so you did the
dating game.
Speaker 3 (01:27:25):
But it's it's it's a great idea.
Speaker 2 (01:27:27):
I love it. It's a great idea, I mean, and
you can have some fun with it. But don't tell
Bree man.
Speaker 4 (01:27:38):
She's got plenty of times. Where are you going to
meet guys? By the way, you go to bars, stop
with the tinder stuff.
Speaker 2 (01:27:44):
Going on Tinder.
Speaker 4 (01:27:46):
I go up and talk to guys.
Speaker 2 (01:27:49):
Hey, you look good. No, don't do that.
Speaker 3 (01:27:52):
Don't come first of all, don't do that. Never, I
know you would.
Speaker 2 (01:27:56):
Don't listen to him whatever he says, all right, you know, Anthony,
I don't know if you know.
Speaker 4 (01:28:04):
This is a small fact. This is a true story.
I'm not making this up. I never asked my wife
to marry me. You know, she asked me to marry her.
She proposed to me.
Speaker 2 (01:28:13):
I want you to know that. Look he doesn't believe me.
He's like, you know, I don't want to say I
laid out. We were.
Speaker 4 (01:28:23):
I was, we've been dating for a while, and I
we had just got my friend Keg. You know, he's
a fraternity brother of mine, my friend Keg. Everybody has
a friend named Keg. By the way, he had just
got married. And he was telling me that when they
were dating, him and his girlfriend. When they were dating,
they had plenty of money, but once they got married,
you know, they always short on money for some reason.
(01:28:45):
So they were going to go back to separate bank accounts.
And I was telling Bethist and she goes, I go, gosh,
we're more married than they are.
Speaker 2 (01:28:51):
And she goes speaking of getting married because my wife
talks like that.
Speaker 4 (01:28:55):
She was speaking of out getting married. When are we
getting married? And I'm like, oh, how about three years?
Because my contract was for another three years, and she's like,
I don't think so how about one year. I'm like, fine,
if you think you're going to threaten me, I thought
she was joking. And then I guess a week later,
(01:29:16):
everybody was congratulating me about getting engaged.
Speaker 2 (01:29:19):
So that's how it happened.
Speaker 4 (01:29:23):
No, no, I just had my parents give me one.
I had no money at the time. I was just
getting radio so I was pretty much bright. Yeah, I
just said, give me something that seems like an air
illumin I'll get this over with.
Speaker 2 (01:29:34):
You know, not so romantic. You know, we had the
worst worst honeymoon.
Speaker 4 (01:29:43):
I wanted to tell you the worst worst honeymoon becuse
I said, she goes, where do you want to go
on a honeymoon? I go, you pick. You couldn't have
picked the worst place. We went to the Canadian Rockies, Anthony.
You know, after you know how many lakes and crystal
clear water can I drink? After fifteen minutes, I was
done looking at the lakes and drinking water.
Speaker 2 (01:30:04):
Now I got ten days of this, get out of here.
Speaker 4 (01:30:06):
What the hell am I gonna do looking at Lake
Bamff and Lake Louise and stuff like that. I don't
need to drink ten days worth of clear water and
look at lakes.
Speaker 2 (01:30:17):
I was bored.
Speaker 4 (01:30:17):
After fifteen minutes of looking at lakes and drinking clear water.
Anthony and the Canadian Rockies get out of here. Should
have went to Hawaii. I don't know, and that's why
that's my mistake. Next time, well there is no next time.
Next time, Well, I don't pick the Canadian Rockies. If
(01:30:38):
you're getting married and you're going on a honeymoon, trust.
Speaker 2 (01:30:40):
Me on that. Yeah, where did you go? Where did
you go for honeymoon?
Speaker 3 (01:30:46):
We went to Greece.
Speaker 4 (01:30:48):
Oh geez, everybody goes someplace good. I don't know what
the hell I was thinking about.
Speaker 2 (01:30:51):
Geez. Yeah, I don't know Canadian Rockies. Seriously, it's a
beautiful place.
Speaker 4 (01:31:00):
We want the Calgary like Louise Bam.
Speaker 2 (01:31:02):
You know, I've been the Calgary for a cover hockey game,
like it's you know, it's Vancouver's nice. Like there's some
beautiful cities in Canada. But that's about it. I don't know.
I mean, you know, if you're hot the honeymoon, don't
you want to? Yeah?
Speaker 4 (01:31:17):
You drinks so much Fosters, you know.
Speaker 3 (01:31:21):
Uh, let's get back to the.
Speaker 4 (01:31:23):
Yes, yes, go ahead, I derailed the show.
Speaker 2 (01:31:25):
Sorry, Yeah, I know. You're you're you really are good
at it.
Speaker 3 (01:31:31):
You're excellent at it.
Speaker 2 (01:31:32):
You're you're interesting, You're it's highly entertaining and uh you
definitely like the derail, which is good for sure. Uh,
but I need to just discuss one thing with you.
It's off the last night's game. Yeah, and you know,
we sit here and it's part of the theme of
the show today because you're hung up on ratings and
(01:31:56):
and this popularity content overall. And I I watched that
game last night, and I just thought it was riveting basketball.
And because what made it so riveting?
Speaker 4 (01:32:09):
What was what was the fact that you were like
so drawn in? I mean, obviously it was a comeback
and Oklahoma City pulled the game out, But what made
this so riveting that you couldn't take your eyes off?
And compared to all the other games we've watched so far.
Speaker 2 (01:32:23):
But I just thought it was it was a great game.
I enjoyed it. I just enjoy it.
Speaker 3 (01:32:27):
I enjoyed it.
Speaker 2 (01:32:28):
I enjoyed the energy in the place. I enjoyed the
you know, Obi topping going bananas.
Speaker 4 (01:32:38):
Do you enjoy games like this more where there's over
one hundred scoring or did you enjoy the Michael Jordan
playoff eighty two to eighty games and stuff like that,
or was that different then the eighty two playoff? We know,
like when the games were like eighty two to eighty
or something like that, or low scoring games. It was
all defense and pushing people down the old bad boy the.
Speaker 2 (01:33:00):
And that's me. I mean, obviously, listen, I love Jordan's
So I grew up with Jordan's, right, you know, I
was a Jordan fan.
Speaker 4 (01:33:07):
Well, you had a Philly you're a Philly fan. They
had some badass teams then, you know, with Darryl Dawkins
and all that.
Speaker 3 (01:33:13):
Oh yeah, I was a little before my time.
Speaker 2 (01:33:14):
But then you know, but then what happened is you
had you know, Barkley, and then they traded Barkley. Yeah
that was so we hated them, right for trading Barkley
for nothing.
Speaker 3 (01:33:28):
And then and then you know, and then the Jordan
thing you love.
Speaker 2 (01:33:32):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (01:33:32):
I can fight.
Speaker 2 (01:33:34):
You can't find beauty in a game like last night.
No I do.
Speaker 4 (01:33:37):
Look, I have beauty in the game last night, but
it isn't like it's going to make my top list
of all that was fantastic.
Speaker 2 (01:33:43):
I loved it.
Speaker 4 (01:33:44):
Matter of fact, if I had a chance to do
it all over again, maybe I taped the game and
I watch a brand new episode of Law and Order
or something like that if it was new. I don't
know if it was going to take me away from
other things that maybe I wanted to watch. Of course,
I watched it last night as we're working today, But
I'm not so sure would if there was like a
(01:34:05):
big movie on or a big uh you know, like
a new series or something I.
Speaker 2 (01:34:11):
Want to watch. It's the finals, it's.
Speaker 4 (01:34:16):
You know, Anthony, we we joke around about steven A
Smith playing Solitaire on his phone. I think that proves
to you. That proves my point. I mean, here's a
guy that's almost like the face of the NBA covers everything.
Just because it went to a time out in a commercial,
he's bored to tears. He's playing on his phone. What
does that say. Here's mister NBA and steven A and
(01:34:38):
he's bored two tears about about this game. And it's
not just you know, the time out. I brought this
up earlier.
Speaker 2 (01:34:45):
You know, first of all, this is what people do.
They're addicted to their phone. They're addicted to games that
has nothing to do with the game itself. He's steven
A's covered a million games and he's probably mindless Solitaire
to pass the three.
Speaker 4 (01:35:06):
Right, Okay, well, you know I said this to you
when you asked me what I want, and I said,
I wanted bigger market teams. I want stars, I want villains,
I want storylines. You know what I really wanted. I
kind of missed it. I didn't realize this. I want
Halliburton's dad. I need some of that. I need him
getting in Giannis's face. And I was talking about it,
It's like, what does he doing?
Speaker 2 (01:35:25):
Man? You can't get in a player's face. I mean
last night I need the felt like last night it
felt like do you know those teams disliked each other?
Speaker 4 (01:35:37):
Yeah, but do you have the fan hatred? You know,
kind of way he Overseas the way Cousins got into
it with the Pacers, Yeah, I do. I do hate them,
but you know, kind of like the way Cousins got
into it with the Overseas fans. When he was grabbing
himself and he got into a little bit of a
squirre mission, there was a little bit of a fight.
(01:36:01):
I know, I know, I know, put his hand on it.
I know I need, but I need a little of that.
You do that, I need some of that. Can you
imagine if that happened last night? What we'd be talking
about now.
Speaker 2 (01:36:16):
He's like.
Speaker 4 (01:36:19):
You, it's enough. But if it's just we're just talking
about the game, that's fine. It was a good come
from behind victory. I gotta give Oklahoma City not only
save their season, not only saved the game. I think
they won the championship. Indiana cast themselves a championship on
that game. So if we're talking strictly about the game,
Indiana is going to find themselves with no championship based
(01:36:41):
on what happened in that last five minutes they went.
They let uh Shay Gilchrist just go G'll just go
off on them. In the last five minutes, I think
he had like.
Speaker 2 (01:36:50):
Fifteen points or something minutes. Yeah, carried them. He goes
to the foul and way too many times.
Speaker 4 (01:36:59):
I I don't think as a person I've seen in
my life get more foul calls than him. It's getting ridiculous.
How many times this guy goes to the line and
every time he comes into her I know that, but
every time he comes in for a layup, it's like
he's hitting the ground, and you know, it's like no,
it's like what I can see why people are mad
(01:37:19):
at Jim.
Speaker 3 (01:37:21):
Man down He's an amazing player.
Speaker 2 (01:37:23):
He's a narrow for everybody.
Speaker 3 (01:37:25):
Jacks up threes.
Speaker 2 (01:37:27):
He scores the bulk of his points as his six
to five guard, lead guard on mid range and penetration.
Speaker 4 (01:37:38):
I bet you shot more free throws than anybody else
in the NBA this year. I don't wonder who did that.
Speaker 2 (01:37:42):
Probably probably honest or you know, if be was healthy.
He goes on line a lot, he does, he does hard.
He goes on line a lot. But whatever I mean,
I don't. I don't pull it against him. I mean,
the guy, guy knows how to draw fouls. Guys, the
guy's I love that, SGA. You don't love that, No,
I do. I do.
Speaker 4 (01:38:01):
I do love him, So don't you know, don't say, oh,
I don't I love his game. I I love everything
about him. But you know what's so funny is he's
the star and the team that had the best record
in the regular season. As you even said I said
they were two to one favorites, they might have been more.
Speaker 2 (01:38:15):
Than two and a half to one favorites.
Speaker 4 (01:38:17):
Any superstar would be catching all kinds of grief now
if their teams were two and a half to three,
three to one favorites and they were tied to to
or they were down two games to one. If this
was Lebron or Brunson or anybody else in the league,
we'd be the jo Kich. We'd be destroying them, saying
he told you they're not that good.
Speaker 2 (01:38:37):
They can't carry the team.
Speaker 4 (01:38:38):
It's like, OKC gets a pass, you know, a SGA
gets a pass. Everybody's getting a pass. Yeah, is there
anybody ripping? Is there anybody ripping anybody on Old City
where they are down two games to win?
Speaker 3 (01:38:53):
Alexander?
Speaker 2 (01:38:54):
Why in the pot?
Speaker 3 (01:38:55):
Why in your right mind would you rip him?
Speaker 4 (01:38:58):
Because I would say, because you're big favorites, you were
down two games?
Speaker 2 (01:39:02):
What what do you mean? So what though? No, the
guy averages thirty five a game, thirty five a game,
he's the m v P.
Speaker 4 (01:39:14):
You blame the one that's that's the number one guy.
You're stupid, like look well look at that stupid look
at look at Lebron, look at the numbers he put up.
But yet we blame him like crazy when something.
Speaker 1 (01:39:25):
That's a name.
Speaker 2 (01:39:27):
But what are you talking about? How would you in
your right mind criticize s g A for what? Well?
Speaker 4 (01:39:32):
Then, who's when they were down two games to one
who were going to criticize about that team. Who's the
guy that said, wow, they're good about to get upset
and they were big favorite by.
Speaker 2 (01:39:40):
The way, you I don't know about you, but I
looked at the reason why they were down is that
Indiana played some ridiculous defense and mattrom was was unconscious.
I mean he was fault that they were double and
triple him every time and blitzing him and not giving
(01:40:02):
him clean looks.
Speaker 4 (01:40:03):
And Hartenstein has not had a great series home. Grin's
been less than superior.
Speaker 3 (01:40:08):
Play well play games.
Speaker 4 (01:40:10):
Well he's getting fifty the game, yeah, right, and he's
a plus in his category, but they could still get
a little bit more out of him. Also, there was
no doubt they have God, they won Williams last.
Speaker 2 (01:40:20):
Fight and and he he was the guy that they
needed to step up.
Speaker 3 (01:40:24):
Yes, you had not stepped up earlier. It was Jalen Williams.
Speaker 2 (01:40:28):
Yeah. Well he went to the foul line a lot also,
so that helps me play. I mean he was aggressive
with the ball. They need him because they're double and
triple and SGA. You know, they needed somebody who attacked
the rim and Jalen Williams we know going in there
with that their half court offense is not good.
Speaker 4 (01:40:44):
And if you would have told me that OKAC was
three of sixteen from three point range, I would have
bet everything that they lost the game and it was
three games to one, Indiana going back for game five.
Speaker 2 (01:40:53):
Yeah, but they're three.
Speaker 4 (01:40:55):
Point No, but that's still you know, less than twenty percent,
especially when Indiana is a good three pin and shooting
team and they.
Speaker 2 (01:41:01):
Get you know, they were on fire to start the game.
The first half they were shooting fifty percent. Yeah, you
see what happened, and in reality, they Indiana And this
is where Indiana failed, is that everybody wants to blame Halliburton. Well,
(01:41:22):
we're siakam At in the second half. We're siakam At
in the fourth quarter.
Speaker 4 (01:41:27):
Especially, he played.
Speaker 2 (01:41:29):
Well the first half and disappeared in the second court
and in the second half again Matthren went off and
saved them. In game three?
Speaker 3 (01:41:40):
Where was where was?
Speaker 4 (01:41:42):
You know, it's funny, it's funny. You want to you know,
you go after them, and rightfully so you went after Halliburton,
You're like, and rightfully so, but you don't go after
anybody on OKC. And they were down two games to one.
Speaker 2 (01:41:55):
That's right.
Speaker 3 (01:41:56):
I didn't go after Haliburton.
Speaker 2 (01:41:57):
You dated earlier in the show and I told you
that was ridiculous.
Speaker 4 (01:42:02):
Well, you said he wasn't a great facilitator.
Speaker 2 (01:42:06):
Or no, no, I said he was a great But
what I said was he was he's not that sort
of offensive player that's a volume score that you can
rely on him down the stretch to score the ball.
Speaker 4 (01:42:20):
Who do you have the rest of the way? Who
do you have the rest? How do you How does
the rest of the series play out? To Anthony Garden, I.
Speaker 3 (01:42:25):
Like, I think I think it's pretty obvious.
Speaker 2 (01:42:28):
Now, I don't that loss has to has to sting
and I don't see.
Speaker 3 (01:42:34):
I don't see them lose.
Speaker 2 (01:42:35):
I don't see okay See lose in game five and
now it's a two game series. I just think, okay
See wants to.
Speaker 4 (01:42:42):
Winning in six or seven? Though, does Indyan to take
game six and it goes back to a game seven?
Speaker 3 (01:42:48):
I think I think it's done.
Speaker 4 (01:42:51):
Okay, so they finished it down on the road.
Speaker 2 (01:42:52):
I mean, you know again, you know I could Carlisle
is a really good coach.
Speaker 3 (01:43:00):
I just don't.
Speaker 2 (01:43:01):
I just don't think they have enough bullets, like they
needed someone like they're so deep and their benches. What's
been carried them during the during the series, Like I
mentioned Matthren, TJ. McConnell's played well, Obi Top.
Speaker 4 (01:43:15):
And Arizona kids by the way, University Arizona, Yeah, McConnell.
Speaker 2 (01:43:20):
Yeah. But I again, I I just think they need
more from Siako or Turner.
Speaker 3 (01:43:26):
You know, I just don't think that they have enough
to beat them.
Speaker 4 (01:43:29):
By the way, somebody put a big bet on Matherin
to be the MVP of the series before it started
and got some really good I got like a I
don't know, like fifty to one odds or something like that.
Speaker 2 (01:43:40):
But he's not gonna win. It doesn't matter. Yeah, all right,
twenty questions NFL coming up next. Well, I have some
fun with that. Arenie in for FITSI be cause right

(01:44:54):
and let's get started.
Speaker 3 (01:44:56):
I want to go right to the story in San Francisco.
Speaker 2 (01:45:00):
Oh, Christian McCaffrey pronounces himself fit and he's healthy.
Speaker 3 (01:45:06):
Party, he's got a new deal.
Speaker 2 (01:45:09):
Is are the Niners back to stand one of the
easiest schedules in football? Are the Niners back as the
power in the NFC West?
Speaker 4 (01:45:21):
Absolutely one. Yeah, they finished in last place, so wasn't
It was a surprise, but we didn't think it was
gonna be all that bad. But now that they got
McCaffrey healthy and like you said, he quote unquote, I
feel great. That's ninety percent of the battle. The other
ten percent is how's brock perty gonna play. I like him. Look,
(01:45:43):
make no mistake about it. He's not gonna be a Mahomes.
He's not gonna put up the gaudy numbers. But if
there's ever a picture of a game manager, he is zip.
I'm not going to debate whether he deserved all that
money at quarterback. To me, the whole NFL is wacky
on how they pay quarterbacks and how much whch money
they're getting. So that's beside the point.
Speaker 2 (01:46:02):
Anthony.
Speaker 4 (01:46:02):
Does he deserve all that money? Probably not, But you
know what they say, next guy up gets the money
just on his play alone. Though, Look, the Rams are
going to be better, Arizona's going to be better. I'm
not so sure about Seattle, but San Francisco is going
to be back in a strong way. As long as
McCaffrey is one hundred percent, I still want to see
what party's going to do.
Speaker 2 (01:46:24):
Though, with all that money now and all.
Speaker 4 (01:46:25):
The pressure on him, he's no longer that lovable mister irrelevant.
I was the last pick. I'm a great story. I
deserve money. He's now a guy that's leading one of
the biggest franchises as the starting quarterback, making a ton
of money now. So all the pressure is pretty much
on him, but I think he'll he'll do well to it.
I think McCaffrey being one hundred percent, I think San
(01:46:47):
Francisco's back this year.
Speaker 3 (01:46:50):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:46:50):
I don't know about their defense though, Yeah, I could
buy your offense. How good is that defense? It was
battle to be I mean, Nick Bolks are gonna be
able to sail on the field. I love Fred Warner.
I mean he's getting up there. Dad is secondary that
was pretty poorous. You know, we'll see.
Speaker 4 (01:47:13):
I mean, who do you like in that division? If
it's not San Francisco. I can't go with Stratford again.
I mean, he's older than me, isn't he Isn't he
sixty two or something? I mean, seriously, he's up there
in age. Arizona could be a little bit of a sleeper, but.
Speaker 2 (01:47:28):
You're just gonna just go right past the rams.
Speaker 3 (01:47:33):
Well, I mean, what about their defense. They have one
of the best young defensive lines with football.
Speaker 4 (01:47:37):
They have a good defense, there's no doubt about that.
But you know, it wasn't like they were monsters last year.
They're still in seven record.
Speaker 3 (01:47:45):
Their front it's good, so.
Speaker 4 (01:47:48):
You you think they're gonna be better than San Francisco
next year, who's the favorite to win that division? I
bet you's San Francisco probably.
Speaker 3 (01:47:56):
I didn't see the odds, but.
Speaker 4 (01:47:57):
I haven't seen the odds either, But I bet you
even though they were in last place last year. Matter
of fact, every year you have it seems like you
have a team that goes from worse to first.
Speaker 2 (01:48:06):
They would be Yeah, because of the schedule. I could
see the Niners winning double digits. Oh for you, Yeah,
I just like I like the Rams. I mean you
add Davante Adams to go with Puka.
Speaker 4 (01:48:19):
Yeah, again, that's adding age though. Does he still with
the Devontae Adams? I saw in the second half of
the season for the New York Jets. That guy doesn't
scare me, does he, Anthony? Does that guy go? Oh,
we gotta shut him down? I'm afraid of him. Everybody's
got a good receiver. He's just another good receiver out.
Speaker 3 (01:48:34):
There, well next to Pooka.
Speaker 2 (01:48:36):
And by the way, he's uplirat because because Cooper cupp
was you know, at the end.
Speaker 4 (01:48:42):
Made a mistake to let him go. I know, he
went down hill. He's lost some production, but that's because
Pooka and Nakua took so many balls from him. Look,
I understand why they had to let him go, but
I like him a lot, and you can't get receivers
like that. He was the star there for what a
couple of years back, So it kind of sucked that he.
Speaker 2 (01:48:59):
Had the leave.
Speaker 3 (01:49:01):
Yeah, but I do think he's done or close to it.
Speaker 4 (01:49:05):
He may get a you know, be revised. We'll see
what happens to him. But no, you're right about the Rams.
Good receivers, good running back, and.
Speaker 3 (01:49:11):
Their defenses is really good.
Speaker 4 (01:49:15):
It's good, but you know, is it gonna be good enough?
Not to? Man isn't like world beaters anyway, So it's
not like that.
Speaker 2 (01:49:21):
Dude Fisk, Kobe Turner, Jared Verse. I mean, that front
is nasty. You got Spates and Reader and linebacker.
Speaker 4 (01:49:30):
It'll be a good race for them in San Francisco,
that's gonna be. They'll be between those two. There's no
doubt those are the two teams to beat in that division.
Speaker 2 (01:49:38):
Yeah, I mean I like, I mean, I like the
Rams a lot. I mean, I I I'm with you,
uh that I think San Francisco wins games. I just
don't know how good your defense gonna be and you know,
we'll see. You know, they lost Deebool.
Speaker 4 (01:49:55):
But did you see that story about Deebo looking really
fat and out of shape? I don't, you know, I
know it's not like a story.
Speaker 2 (01:50:04):
Yeah it was.
Speaker 4 (01:50:05):
They were talking about how he was running and he
looked fat, out of shape, didn't have that explosive speed. Mike, Well,
you know how much of this is just blooney and
they're just trying to, you know, make him look bad.
Speaker 2 (01:50:18):
But that that's what the story is. I'll see if
I can find and send it over to you. Yeah,
I did not. I did not, all right? Question number two,
the Lions. Are the Lions done as the favorite? Losing
both coordinators and of course you know all those injuries,
(01:50:38):
all that atrophy. You know, was last year the year
for the Lions, and well they feel it this year. No,
it's not over for the Lions.
Speaker 4 (01:50:49):
First of all, I'm not so sure Minnesota is going
to get it done. Let's see how the quarterback play
is going to be. I mean, I know they're coming
off a fourteen and three season, but they've got a
different quarterback, so that's going to be intrigued. I'm not
on the packer bandwagon With Jordan Love, I think he's
just an okay quarterback. I'm not ready to fall in
love with him and think he's ready to take the
(01:51:10):
Packers to the division. Look, they had a good year
last year, but that's because they had other things going
other than Jordan Love. And I think the Bears, Man
do I love the Bears. This year, I may be
falling into that same trap again. They could be another
team to go from worse to first. But make no
mistake about it, it's still the best team in that division,
the Detroit Lions.
Speaker 2 (01:51:31):
They should still be the favorite.
Speaker 4 (01:51:32):
Matter of fact, I still think they go ahead and
win that division as long as they stay healthy. They've
got so many weapons offensively, it's not even funny. As
long as Hutchinson's okay comes back from that major injury.
There's nobody with offensive weapons like Detroit, as you know. Obviously,
with Kaffa, with Gibbs and running back in Montgomery, that's
(01:51:52):
the best one to two combination out there. Their receivers
are phenomenal. I love i'm Andron Saint Brown. I love
that guy.
Speaker 3 (01:51:59):
Listen.
Speaker 2 (01:52:00):
I like the Lions right like you know I do.
But when you lose your center. You're all well all world.
Speaker 3 (01:52:09):
Center and Rag. Now that's a big loss.
Speaker 4 (01:52:12):
Yes, yes, everybody has injuries though aftery everybody goes to them.
And they did lose Hutchinson too, and they'll get him
back and hopefully he'll be healthy.
Speaker 3 (01:52:21):
No, but again I'm just saying that old line.
Speaker 2 (01:52:24):
But they have they have great tackles right right, great,
I mean you got Soul and you got Decker, just great,
great tackles. But they had some problems that the one
guard spot. Now you lose Rag. Now who retires the
interior line? I worry about like I worry about that
for golf because golf needs to right the right production right.
(01:52:46):
And you talked about a dynamic running game. I'm with
you that Gibbs is the most dynamic back in the league.
Love that guy. Yeah, but when you when you lose
your starting center, that's a big.
Speaker 4 (01:53:01):
Of course, Yes, of course, of course it's a big deal.
I mean there's there's no doubt. But who do you
like in that division? I mean, look at Minnesota, they
lost their starting quarterback. That's a big deal.
Speaker 3 (01:53:09):
Well not if JJ could play.
Speaker 2 (01:53:12):
Do you have a clue on that?
Speaker 3 (01:53:14):
Do I have a club? Yes? I just hear you know,
but I don't know.
Speaker 2 (01:53:19):
I haven't seen it, so, but you know, they're optimistic
that JJ is ready to go. We gotta take a
quick tal we'll come right back. We'll continue the twenty
Questions of the NFL coming up, and uh, don't forget.
Next hour, the brain will join us for uh his
picks of the week, the whole thing where the fella
is already in for fitsie right here on Fox Sports Radio.
(01:53:45):
Fellas already Spaniard. What's your sport? What's your favorite sport?
It's basketball.
Speaker 4 (01:53:52):
I know it's hard to believe, but no, it is basketball.
Speaker 2 (01:53:55):
Basketball is your favorite sport?
Speaker 4 (01:53:58):
College? Yeah, no, it is basketball. I mean, yeah, I well, football,
but I'll watch a lot of college basketball during the
regular season.
Speaker 3 (01:54:05):
You're college the best.
Speaker 4 (01:54:07):
I like college the best.
Speaker 2 (01:54:08):
I love college basketball, college football. Those are my two things.
Speaker 4 (01:54:12):
I love college that I love college football more than
the NFL.
Speaker 2 (01:54:19):
Wow. All right, yeah, I love college football too. Uh
but let me ask you a question. Well, how do
you how do you feel about the new landscape in
what respect?
Speaker 3 (01:54:32):
What do you mean like the college landscape?
Speaker 4 (01:54:35):
Oh, you mean about the nil and all that?
Speaker 2 (01:54:38):
Yeah, you know where.
Speaker 4 (01:54:40):
The teams are going to be dishing out the money.
Is that what you're talking about, Anthony, Well.
Speaker 2 (01:54:43):
It's beyond just teams dish out money. It's you. You're
going to have is teams university start to pick their
sports to invest in, right right, right, like you know,
not everybody. You're going to see people abandon football, right,
You're going to see like all you know, teams that
are all in on certain you know, a.
Speaker 3 (01:55:05):
Lot more basketball.
Speaker 4 (01:55:06):
Look at Texas Technic, they're they're putting all their money
in softball. They gave one of their pitchers a million
dollars in nil deal and they just got two other ones.
So yeah, they're they're definitely. Look, I'm fine with it.
I didn't think that all the money should have gone
the football anyway, but I think it's gotten not a
hand with all this money.
Speaker 2 (01:55:24):
Did you see that.
Speaker 4 (01:55:24):
Cooper Flag reportedly and Plank disputes this like crazy, got
twenty eight million dollars His last year is his year
at Duke and nil money. That that can't be right,
that that's insane. Where does that money come from? Where
do you get that much money? Twenty eight million dollars
was reported That's how much Cooper Flag got in his
(01:55:45):
year it Duke, I don't believe that. Plank says, divide
that in half. And then when I told them was
twenty eight million, he goes divide that twice in half
because there's no way he got that type of money.
Speaker 2 (01:55:56):
But I'm for it.
Speaker 4 (01:55:58):
If the athletes can get paid, you want to put
it into certain sports and they're auditioning out the money,
I'm all for it. But you certainly gotta show your
love to the other sports also. There's no doubt about that.
Speaker 2 (01:56:10):
But it presents for like to me, fascinating times. I mean,
gonna be, it's gonna be, it's gonna be wild man,
the whole thing. It's the wild West.
Speaker 4 (01:56:23):
Well, it's who has the most money and who's gonna
pony it up. You know, it's funny you bring that up.
Do you know the quarterback out of the University of
Michigan that they gave all that money to. Yeah, that
that that's coming in. There was just a story today
how he's just not getting it done and that they're
gonna bring in somebody else. Bryce Underwood. They say his
fitness level heading into the season was a factor that
(01:56:45):
they're looking at another quarterback and this guy got all
the money in the world and nil money. Right, they
were they were bidding wars over this guy, and he's
having problems even before his first snap.
Speaker 2 (01:56:56):
Well, that's gonna be an issue too, because you're not whin.
I was talking to somebody who we were explaining to
me the la how the landscape's gonna work.
Speaker 3 (01:57:05):
He's a GM at a power five, and.
Speaker 2 (01:57:09):
You know, like they're gonna they're not gonna be recruiting
high school kids a lot like you know, six to
eighty year. I know, like Nebraska's gonna do six to
eighty year. You know, Ohio State, same kind of same
kind of vicinity, and they're gonna go heavier into the
obviously the portal, but also you know the the uh,
(01:57:34):
they'll go to the other route like you co and
that sort of thing. So they were talking about, you know,
if you get a deal with a kid and the
kid's a freshman, but the kids are gonna play, they're
gonna look at it like you're on your rookie contract.
So yeah, that's why there's a lot of NFL guys
(01:57:55):
now in going to college and explaining to them the
structure of what the front office, because now you have
to have a front office. That's not just about a university.
I think it's fascinating.
Speaker 4 (01:58:07):
Well, what's gonna happen is more kids are going to
go to the JUCO route as you mentioned. They'll do
their two years there, get whatever money they can at
that level. I don't know what they get there, and
then then start their college career and maybe get another
three years, maybe even four years, so they get like
five to six years of playing.
Speaker 3 (01:58:23):
College account now against your.
Speaker 4 (01:58:25):
Algebra exactly, So you can get paid five to six
years in college football and make a boatload of money
when it's all said and done. So that's gonna be
the landscape. You're gonna be seeing a lot of older guys.
It's gonna be like every team is like BYU football,
where the guys are twenty three, twenty four years.
Speaker 3 (01:58:41):
Old, right, I mean, it's it's pretty wild.
Speaker 2 (01:58:46):
Like when you think about the landscape, now you forget
about these college kids are like men. You remember Chris
Weink played for the Largia State was quarterback. He was
a baseball kid, had a big ball, played and really
never did anything in baseball. Was a quarterback in high school,
(01:59:06):
goes back to college.
Speaker 3 (01:59:09):
I don't know I did a story on him.
Speaker 2 (01:59:10):
He was fascinating because he had a big sunning mons
from baseball, so he had money back when nobody had
money when you're a.
Speaker 4 (01:59:17):
Football player, right, No, I understand that.
Speaker 2 (01:59:20):
Yeah, but he was twenty eight when he was playing,
when he was playing at Florida State.
Speaker 4 (01:59:26):
That's crazy you think about that, you know.
Speaker 2 (01:59:28):
I know, I know, it's nuts. You're you know, these
kids getting drafted now I'm gonna be like twenty four.
Speaker 3 (01:59:35):
To twenty five years old.
Speaker 2 (01:59:37):
Unbelievable. It's wild. All right, big final hour coming up, fellas.
Right here on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (01:59:45):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio, right.
Speaker 2 (01:59:47):
Radio, Good, good, good morning, everybody, Happy, happy, Happy Fox
Sports Saturday. Happy Father's Day, Happy Father's Day weekend to
everybody out. Yes, old guys, we got a couple of
fun little Father's Day things for you.
Speaker 4 (02:00:06):
By the way, real quick, because I know we talked
about hockey.
Speaker 7 (02:00:09):
I know.
Speaker 4 (02:00:09):
Don't want to derail anything, did you. The AHL was
having their championship game one yesterday. I don't know if
you saw this, and it was an overtime all right,
So they're on the face off. It's tied up there
and overtime referee drops the puck right off the drop
of the puck, passes it back, shoot scores for the
(02:00:29):
game winner. The place is going crazy, and then the
referee goes, no, no, no, no, my mistake. The goalie
wasn't ready. We're gonna redrop the pucket. Of course they
end up losing the games. I've never seen that before. Yes,
he goes, my mistake, goalie not ready because they it
(02:00:50):
was a drop of the puck, passed back, boom, shoot
score and they're like no, no, we're gonna do it again.
Speaker 2 (02:00:57):
And he ended up losing.
Speaker 4 (02:00:58):
I can't believe that.
Speaker 2 (02:00:59):
So who was it it was?
Speaker 4 (02:01:03):
It was the Calder Cup and it was the Checkers.
It was the Charlotte Checkers against the Canucks.
Speaker 2 (02:01:11):
I don't know where they're from, so it was.
Speaker 4 (02:01:15):
Yeah, it's crazy Averageford Canucks. That's who it was.
Speaker 3 (02:01:19):
Yeah, okay, all right, they do that.
Speaker 2 (02:01:22):
You know.
Speaker 4 (02:01:23):
I got to tell you this. I don't know about you, Anthony.
You tell me baseball, football, basketball, hockey doesn't make it difference.
Would you be a good raf umpire linesman? I would
be horrible. I I would be just no. I have
no interest in doing that. No, no, no, I think
I think I.
Speaker 2 (02:01:37):
Was going to do it around here born No. I
I yeah, Like I think officials you have to want
to be an official like you had. Like it's got
to be innate, t like you got to be a
rules guy. You got to be born with that gene.
Speaker 3 (02:01:56):
Like I believe that. I believe the officials are born
like I could. I have.
Speaker 2 (02:02:00):
No. I never had any interest in being in ref
or an umpire.
Speaker 3 (02:02:06):
I had no interest in that.
Speaker 4 (02:02:09):
I had no interest in it. But I want to
tell you this. I probably shouldn't tell this story on
the air, but I was in a fantasy baseball league,
right and a guy that was in my fantasy baseball
league was an NFL official, and he actually brought his
son with him because he thought it would be against
(02:02:29):
the rules if he was in the league, so he
made a son draft for him.
Speaker 2 (02:02:32):
You want to know the name of this what do
you got?
Speaker 4 (02:02:34):
His name's Ed Hockley.
Speaker 2 (02:02:35):
You know you remember Ed?
Speaker 1 (02:02:37):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (02:02:37):
And his son, hisn His son was under eighteen at
the time. He wasn't even in the fifth son with
Seawan Hockley. He's a big official now, but I mean
he's a great guy. I've had him on my show before,
to be honest with you, and he doesn't go on
a lot of shows. He's retired now. I actually got
an email from him a couple of years back because
I was going to have a mom. Great guy, I mean,
(02:02:58):
just unbelievable. But yeah, he was in my fantasy baseball
but he was made to be an official. He when
you're talking about growing up, and remember these guys are
not official. They're like lawyers or CPA's principles. You know,
they do other jobs out there there they were. They're
not you know, solely on the NFL or anything like that.
Speaker 3 (02:03:21):
Right.
Speaker 2 (02:03:21):
But I but even even if and I'm talking about
from the youth level, youth, high school, whatever, I think
you're born. I think there's a there's an official gene
like you need. You either have the gene or you don't. Right,
you have the gene that you are a rules guy.
Like I'm not a rules guy. I've never been so
(02:03:45):
I'm not really a stickler and rules. I'm pretty much
like live let live type of thing, you know. But
I think there's a gene that makes you want to
be the official.
Speaker 4 (02:03:56):
You're right, You're right. It's so tough too. I mean,
do you do you call fouls, Like, if you're in
the NBA, do you call foules in every play?
Speaker 2 (02:04:04):
You know?
Speaker 4 (02:04:04):
What about you? You gotta worry about the superstars. You
can't call every foul on them.
Speaker 2 (02:04:10):
You know. It's so tough man, Yeah, it really is.
Speaker 4 (02:04:14):
In the NFL. What about hitting the quarterback late? I'd
go crazy trying to figure out what's a what's a
penalty or not?
Speaker 2 (02:04:20):
When you're hitting the quarterback late. Now you get to
your your group of officials will huddle up. Arnie again,
pick up the flag? Arnie again? What's wrong with you?
Pick up the flag?
Speaker 3 (02:04:33):
Hey.
Speaker 2 (02:04:34):
For over forty years, Tyraq has been helping customers find
the right tires for how, what and where they drive.
Ship fast and free back by free road hazard protection
with convenient insallation options like mobile tire installation tire raq
dot Com The way tire buying should be. Now we
(02:04:56):
got the tire rack play of the day, and it's
a thunder Radio Network on a call, SJA on the
hand holding out on the brickprtment left against CASEPP works
to the baseline, Yeah, fires a fade away, take what job?
He read to the courts under up by one one
O four, one O three.
Speaker 4 (02:05:15):
Time out pasters say, y'all, balance made it away and
luffed and stuck to go ahead deuce to twenty one
to play Oklahoma City.
Speaker 2 (02:05:23):
I'm one O four one O three.
Speaker 3 (02:05:26):
Yeah, there was shay amazing.
Speaker 2 (02:05:30):
They were. He was in a straight jacket for that
entire game. They were running at him, blitzing at him.
Double triple they kept trying for, in fact, to the
point where they changed your substitution pattern, right, because he
usually plays the entire first quarter, but he was struggling
(02:05:50):
so bad to get looks. It was like, let me
wrest him now and bring it back early second quarter.
Like that's how good Indiana that was playing against them.
Speaker 4 (02:06:02):
Are you one of those guys that think, like, come on, man,
it's the finals. You're playing like every third day. Suck
it up and get out there. I don't care if
you got to play forty eight minutes. How tired can
you be when you're getting like three days rest?
Speaker 2 (02:06:14):
Come on, man, you.
Speaker 3 (02:06:15):
Know, yeah, but he's being doubled in triple I.
Speaker 4 (02:06:20):
Know, right, Yeah, he's certainly like front.
Speaker 2 (02:06:23):
And they and they took him out for a reason,
not because he was, you know, tired, fatigue, you take
him out because you wait for matchups.
Speaker 4 (02:06:30):
Yeah, get mentally right?
Speaker 2 (02:06:32):
Also yeah, and that and you know you don't you know,
you don't went to matchups. That's I mean, that's that's
That's a big part of it. But tremendous how that
thing ends and the clutchedness.
Speaker 3 (02:06:45):
I still can't believe it.
Speaker 2 (02:06:47):
I still can't believe yesterday because that game felt like
Indiana was to control the entire game.
Speaker 4 (02:06:55):
Right right, had seventy five percent chance to win that
game at one point in the fourth quarter, and as
you mentioned, SGA going off, how do you let them
score fifteen points in the last five minutes of the
game to steal that one from you? And nobody's making
a big deal about this, But not only did they
lose the game, they lost the series on this because
now it's two games apiece, they go down three to one.
(02:07:17):
Forget about it, it's ov er, it's over, and this
series is going to end in one or two more games.
Now that it's two games apiece, I would think that
Oklahoma City is back to being the big favorite. I
feel good about them.
Speaker 3 (02:07:30):
Yeah, I agree.
Speaker 4 (02:07:30):
I think they win this in seven. I think it
goes all the way you.
Speaker 2 (02:07:34):
Know, it's nuts about the you know, that's the reference
the last five minutes. So here here's here's Okac's points.
So it's ninety seven ninety five, just inside five minutes
to go, right, Indiana's out.
Speaker 3 (02:07:49):
That play we just played.
Speaker 2 (02:07:52):
Shay hits that little five footer right, so ninety seven
ninety seven. Then halltt Burton two free throws and Nate
Smith two free throws right to one oh one ninety seven.
Shay gets in the line, knocks down two. Halliburton makes
it one of three, one oh nine. Then Shay, who
(02:08:13):
had not made a three pointer, who you know is
not a you know, a normal three point shooter, knocks
down that trip right right to make it one o three,
one oh two. Then he hits a fourteen footer. Dort
Dirt makes one free throw. Then it's two for Shay,
(02:08:37):
uh one for Shay, two more for one more for Shay,
two more for Shay. Like right, that's how the game ends.
He scores all their points except for the Dort free.
Speaker 4 (02:08:48):
Throw, and he and he's obviously getting him at the
free throw line, which is another thing. You're like, well,
don't you like basketball? Don't you like the NBA? This
was great basketball. How great is it when it's like
a free throw shooting car test in the last five
minutes of the game and SGA is just shoo shots. Dude, No,
it's not every game. You look at Holiberd, he's actually.
Speaker 2 (02:09:07):
Shooting yeah feul yeah, but like foul to part of
the game, like you know that.
Speaker 4 (02:09:12):
No, I understand that, But I mean how much not
the whole five minutes of the of the game. I mean,
you let the hit a little bit.
Speaker 3 (02:09:18):
Free, be a two big jumpers step back.
Speaker 4 (02:09:22):
I mean, I mean, how many file shots were shot
in the last five minutes of the game.
Speaker 2 (02:09:25):
It's disgusting.
Speaker 4 (02:09:27):
I mean, it was a foul shooting contest. That's what
kills the NBA.
Speaker 2 (02:09:30):
It's the league. You're gonna shoot free throw for the
end of the game, do you know?
Speaker 4 (02:09:34):
It's such a problem. And not to change subjects, but
that's why college is going from half to quarters because
they don't want to be shooting file shots for most
of the half because some team has already got five
files within the first six seven minutes and you could
be shooting file shots for for fourteen minutes of the half.
That's why they're going the quarters. You don't want to
be doing that. Yeah, yeah, that that takes that out.
(02:09:58):
That's certainly why.
Speaker 2 (02:10:00):
And I think the end.
Speaker 4 (02:10:01):
You know, the NBA many years ago when I was
working in Phoenix, they were trying an experiment in the
preseason where they were gonna call it extremely extremely tight.
I mean they were gonna call everything. And the Suns
were involved in that game. I believe there was almost
ninety file shots in the game, and the NBA said, well,
put the cabas on that. We're not going to the
(02:10:21):
light eighty ninety times. I don't care if it's preseason
or not. We can't call it this trick. You gotta
let them get away with it. You gotta have some
things going on, not just because of fouling out, but
you just can't have a file shooting contest, which is
what we had a little bit of the game yesterday.
But it was a good, great victory for KC because
Indiana has cost himself a championship now and I like
oka see to win the next well, to win in
(02:10:44):
game five and seven, so to win this thing in seven.
Speaker 2 (02:10:48):
So here you go for game for game five. OK
sees nine and a half, dude, big number nine and
a half.
Speaker 4 (02:11:02):
That's another problem. I mean, you want close games, but
these lines have been umongous.
Speaker 2 (02:11:05):
You know, Yeah, that's a that's a monster. Nine and
a half, it was a I just think it's too much.
As much as I like okay See to win the
game nine and a half.
Speaker 4 (02:11:18):
The first game was like eleven and a half or
twelve and a half, wasn't it.
Speaker 2 (02:11:21):
Yeah, I think what's we've I think what we've seen
in this series is that okay SE's not ten points
better than in the enda.
Speaker 4 (02:11:30):
Do you know how to you know, the best way
to bet this game is, especially if you like Oklahoma City,
you hope the Pacers, you know, in the first quarter
get out to like a fifteen to two lead, or
you know, at the end of the first quarter it's like,
I don't know, thirty five twenty, they have like a
fifteen point lead, and then all of a sudden, the
line is like pick them, and then you're taking Oklahoma
(02:11:51):
City just to win the game, and you know they're
gonna come back. It happens every time in the NBA.
You have a ten to fifteen point lead, next thing
you know, it's like a five point lead at half time.
I mean, it's all tied up in the third, So
wait till the Pacers get out to the lead. If
they do, and then you bet Oklahoma City. Uh, and
then you don't have to lay the nine and a
half or ten points if the Pacers do get out
to the lead.
Speaker 2 (02:12:12):
Yeah, yeah, I hear you. I actually think I think
is gonna win. But I mean I think, Okay, so
she's gonna win, but I think Indiana covers. I'm curious.
We have a betting expert the Brain, so he he's
joining us, coming up in about ten minutes.
Speaker 4 (02:12:27):
Can I can I tell you my quick game win story?
Speaker 2 (02:12:29):
Do we have time for that? Real quick? Yeah?
Speaker 4 (02:12:31):
God, I you know I don't want to give it.
I don't want to sink.
Speaker 2 (02:12:34):
Yeah, I don't.
Speaker 4 (02:12:35):
I don't want to give any names but his name.
He's a Fox Sports talk show host with us. His
name rhymes with Brian No. And I called Brian and
I said, hey, before the College World Series, this is
like a couple of weeks ago. I want to bet
Arizona where you put fifty bucks because he lives in Vegas.
I go put fifty or one hundred bucks on Arizona
(02:12:55):
to win the whole thing. They're eighty five to one.
Speaker 3 (02:12:57):
Right.
Speaker 4 (02:12:58):
He texted me back and he goes, yeah, they're not
gonna win it, save your money. Well, they won the regionals,
they won the Super Regionals, and now they're in the
College World Series and they did lose yesterday. But you know,
he didn't place the bet for me. That's like a major.
Speaker 2 (02:13:13):
Gambling faux pie. You can't do that.
Speaker 4 (02:13:15):
Somebody's got to be paying me my money.
Speaker 2 (02:13:18):
I want my money if they win.
Speaker 4 (02:13:20):
You know, that's like, that's like eight five hundred dollars
if I bet one hundred dollars. What do you don't
tell me they can't win. Somebody's got to be punished
for that. Anthony.
Speaker 3 (02:13:30):
Yeah, that's a that's a violation.
Speaker 4 (02:13:32):
That's a big Vega.
Speaker 3 (02:13:34):
He lives in Vegas. You won't place the bet for you?
Speaker 4 (02:13:37):
Well, it was too late. Now, this was a couple.
He just he texted me, he goes, they're not gonna
win it, save your money, And I'm like, guy's probably right.
Next thing, I know, they're in the College to the
Final eight eighty five to one odds Anthony, eighty five
to one, my friend, Yeah, that's that's should have been
a million dollars.
Speaker 2 (02:13:56):
That's that's that's a violation. Well he's got you're solid man. Yeah,
so Mike, you couldn't drive down the Connecticut.
Speaker 4 (02:14:05):
No, I could place bets here in Vermont.
Speaker 2 (02:14:07):
But it's a different story.
Speaker 4 (02:14:09):
When you have a guy in Vegas and you get
the ticket.
Speaker 2 (02:14:12):
Whoa wha wait wait, yeah, so you have sports in Vermont.
Speaker 4 (02:14:16):
Yeah, we have it here in Vermont. Yeah, we have
running water and sports betting.
Speaker 2 (02:14:19):
I don't know if you know that.
Speaker 3 (02:14:20):
I figured the running water.
Speaker 2 (02:14:23):
I saw I just because you asked Brian to place
the bet for you. I figured you didn't have it.
Speaker 4 (02:14:29):
Yeah, that's why nobody feels sorry for me. No, I
have sports betting here, So you just do what you're saying.
I know I could have done it too, But you
don't get the type of story.
Speaker 3 (02:14:37):
Stupid.
Speaker 2 (02:14:38):
You don't get the same type of bars.
Speaker 4 (02:14:40):
But you yourself. Yeah, you didn't get the eighty five
to one like you like you did in Vegas.
Speaker 2 (02:14:45):
And what do you mean I like.
Speaker 4 (02:14:47):
The ticket lines, No they're not. They're not as good
as the ones in Vegas.
Speaker 2 (02:14:53):
It's to the same lines. I didn't know it was more.
Speaker 4 (02:14:56):
When I looked online, I was only getting.
Speaker 2 (02:14:58):
Like seventy five to one. It was eighty five.
Speaker 3 (02:15:00):
I have to one. We gotta looks of different book.
Speaker 2 (02:15:02):
I don't have the patience for that. Geez, you.
Speaker 1 (02:15:08):
Were not.
Speaker 3 (02:15:10):
You spend this whole story ripping bright. No, but you
could have placed the bet yourself.
Speaker 4 (02:15:15):
Well you you wouldn't have been mad if somebody wouldn't
place a bet for you. You're like, come on, man, let.
Speaker 3 (02:15:20):
Me be if I could do it myself.
Speaker 4 (02:15:21):
Yeah, there's a difference between online and going to this.
Speaker 2 (02:15:24):
You know, I thought you need no, That's why I
believe you did have access. You wacko. I what's role
with him? What's the matter with this guy.
Speaker 4 (02:15:39):
Where you want to s Yeah? Exactly?
Speaker 3 (02:15:43):
Oh my god, yeah you're mine.
Speaker 4 (02:15:45):
Yeah I have Again, I lived in Vegas, so there's
always good stories there, right, I.
Speaker 2 (02:15:50):
Mean, but but again, if you could do it yourself,
I don't know why you bothered the guy. That's true.
If I was Brian and I say the same thing,
like you out of your mind, come through yourself. We'll
save your money. That's great. All right, let's say quick

Speaker 2 (02:17:14):
Hey, Brad, how you doing?
Speaker 6 (02:17:16):
My friend Hobody could hear you?
Speaker 4 (02:17:19):
The first thing I wanted to ask was you know,
with the NBA final ratings being so low, does that
translate to less people betting on the games or maybe
betting the crops?
Speaker 2 (02:17:28):
Or no?
Speaker 6 (02:17:29):
I don't know, I mean not that I have specific
data on that, but I don't necessarily.
Speaker 2 (02:17:36):
Yeah, you can stop. He's busting my balls because of
his his ridiculous ratings thing that he's hung up on.
He's the same guy who told me today he wants
to get rid of Monday night football.
Speaker 3 (02:17:52):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (02:17:53):
I'm a little burnt out on that.
Speaker 2 (02:17:54):
Yeah, yes, he's in his mind. He's ever not too long.
Speaker 6 (02:18:00):
Well, how would you want to get working Monday night football?
Speaker 2 (02:18:02):
A well? Won?
Speaker 4 (02:18:03):
The ratings have been dropping for the last twenty five
years now. I don't know if that has to do
with social media and stuff like that. I think it's
oversaturated with the Sunday night the Monday night they got
the Thursday the Sunday afternoon games. There's only like two
games now and every one of them is the Raiders game,
and it destroys the Sunday afternoon games.
Speaker 2 (02:18:20):
When you do this, don't entertain it. But yeah, they
don't even entertain It's it's just you know, I mean,
he's an old timer, like a great hippie guy, young
and hard, young and heart no way, young and hard, insane.
I like you as like this insane uncle.
Speaker 4 (02:18:40):
The crazy one that nobody wants to sit next there,
right right yeah, but.
Speaker 2 (02:18:43):
You're but you're charming. It's all get out. Uh you're
a love you know what I mean, you got a
great heart. All right, So let's let's get tennis's sports.
That game last night. First of all, I mean, where
to do this series? Second of all, you know everybody's
on Halliburton. What's going to come up big in.
Speaker 3 (02:19:04):
The fourth quarter?
Speaker 6 (02:19:07):
Look, I mean that that game they Indiana again, they
have really shown, really truly shown that they are just
I mean they're they're not going away. They are not
going away. And they look they're up with a seven
at the end of three, two games to one at home.
If they can get this game up three to one,
(02:19:27):
I mean series up three one. While they look like
they have a they're going to be a legitimately favorite
in the series for the first time. But look, I
give OKC credit. I mean their season was on the line, Anthony,
and look, look it's one quart. It's a playoffs. Either
you do it or you don't. It's that simple. And
in the fourth quarter they didn't do it. And yet
(02:19:47):
I didn't do it. You're right to see an scure
on the fourth quarter. I remember even one.
Speaker 2 (02:19:53):
But again he we've him a turner, like everybody's always
on Hallet a burner, everybody's on Alibert, those two same
thing in Game three, big first half and then they
needed to win the game for him.
Speaker 6 (02:20:13):
Yeah, crickets in the second half for sure. Yeah, I
mean it's just but again, listen, there is a big
reason right that the one team was eight to one
favorite to win the series was because it was going
to be tough for this team. But again, what this
series has shown me in again, I again, Indiana's tolerating
anthony was a certain number before this playoffs and despite
(02:20:36):
the spite, in fact, they've had the Tide with the
best record after the Ulstar break with Okay see, despite
the fact that it's now been let's call it, fifty
games of basketball that.
Speaker 3 (02:20:46):
Have been really good.
Speaker 6 (02:20:47):
But it's because the first fifty games of the year
and they've had a first bad first half of the season.
They just are not getting, in my opinion, the respect
they they've shown that they deserve. I mean, watching the
series for four games, am I going to tell you
I think Oklahoma City looks as zillion times better? I
would be very disingenuous if I said that. And when
you're an eight to one favorite you expect the one
(02:21:07):
team to look extremely spare on the other team. I'm
seeing the series. They can go either way and it's
that's the three. And look, I no reason why this
series won't won't contend to be pretty pretty tough. Okay
to me win the next two games, but I think
it's going to be. I think these games are going
to be tight. I don't think this there's gonna be
someth walkover for okayc And I don't think it's over
(02:21:30):
just because it's now two to two.
Speaker 1 (02:21:32):
Yeah, you know, Brad, I really don't.
Speaker 6 (02:21:33):
I think, okay, see, you will win, but not It's
not automatic for sure.
Speaker 4 (02:21:40):
I feel like I'm missing out gambling wise by making
by making big money because look at all these comebacks,
especially within the ADA. Last night it was Oklahoma City
in game betting. What kind of can you get? Like
what ten to one, fifteen to one on these.
Speaker 6 (02:21:55):
Coming well usually not that high and like yesterday, okay
see when they down by seven, I want to say,
tame of three. I think they were getting like around
a little over two to one odds because again, it
wasn't it wasn't it wasn't any great shakes and even
at the end. It's funny. I will say, so they
were down with like three minutes ago, they were down
(02:22:15):
by three. Uh, then you actually could have gotten still
out two to one odds when they were down by
three with with like three minutes to go, but nothing
because again, okay See was the favorite team of Indiana.
Was a team trailing, it would have been a higher,
much higher return than that because okayc was such a
prohibitive favorite. They got that respect, so to speak.
Speaker 2 (02:22:37):
Gotcha, all right, I'm with you. I do like I
like Indiana. I think okay See wins, but Indiana I'll cover.
Speaker 6 (02:22:46):
Yeah, then you can get ten points in in game
in game five and again I'm it's not easy to
seem to be the scene by by doubled it. It's
crazy they covered game four, Anthony. That's the craziest thing
about it. Can you imagine having India ticket plus set
that was one of the all timers?
Speaker 2 (02:23:03):
Yeah, that would be I guess that's that would be
a horrible beat, horrible horrible beat. Yeh beyond all right,
a couple of things us opened a moving day. Any
you spy any value here?
Speaker 6 (02:23:17):
Man? And it's interesting, you know, you. Well, listen, I
guess if you if you ever wanted to take a
chance on Scotty like where you could actually get like
double the odds, this would be at the time to
take him, right. I mean, he's went in twenty fifth place,
I believe, uh four over, but you know he's only
seven shots back. Look, I mean to me, it's like
(02:23:41):
it's the leaderboard of me. It's like a it's such
a jumbled ding. And then look, if Sam Burns really
going to be able to hold on maybe j spawn
I doubt it heavily. A Hobblin's a guy that actually
do think has the ability to win majors, uh for sure.
And then after that you look at it and yeah,
you see Kopka, he obviously can do it at a
(02:24:01):
plus two. But you know, if I would to look
at it, you know, look again, you see rom At
plus four, more Cola plus four, Shuffler plus four. Those
are arguably the three best golfers in like this top
thirty area, and you can get really nice odds on
all of them. And the US Open is the kind
of course where all these guys can can shoot over
(02:24:23):
par so easily, and all these callers I just mentioned
have the ability to play really, really well, and you
can get around ten to one odds on Scottish Schuler,
which you know, you can get thirty five to one
on more Kawa, you can get around twenty five to
one on John Row, twenty five to one on Kopka.
Those would be the guys that I would personally look at.
(02:24:46):
River's playing great. He's around eleven to one area Anthony,
He's played great. But again, if he he's he's played,
he's even far right now, he's two solid rounds. I
can't get there for him just based off the fact
he's again in this kind of spot. He's never done.
It doesn't mean he can't do it now. But I'd
rather get double the odds for those guys who are
a couple of shots trailing him, Like I'd rather have Griffin.
(02:25:11):
I'm not sure i'd rather have Scheffler getting about the
same aunt as Griffin, even though Scheffler's four shots behind.
Just my opinion, sure.
Speaker 4 (02:25:17):
Brad, you get any action, any interest on the Stanley
Cup two games a piece, everyone was three nothing. I
can only imagine what kind of odds you could have
gotten on that one.
Speaker 6 (02:25:26):
You know, but that was around the ten to the one,
thirteen to one. You know, Anthony, I think Anthy had
a friend of his who who was able to get
in at thirteen to one. Anthony, i'mb you telling me that,
but yeah, I mean, look, this is we've seen the series.
Three of the four games have been as close as
close gets right. I mean three of the four games
are just absolutely razor thin. Game price is close to
(02:25:48):
a pick him, right. I don't really see any edge
here at all. I would always lean to the underdog
that they're getting a price, just because I think these
games are truly like fifty to fifty gone. In my head,
I think Edmonton wins it. But I think these games
are all like beyond razor thin. The only game I
bet in this series was Game four because Edmonton was
(02:26:09):
getting like plus one thirty and there I was like,
all right, thanks to be fifty fifty. I'll take my
chances here. I don't need to take Florida plus one
hundred because I think this is I think these games
really are about fifty to fifty lean Edmonton, but not
not today. I think we've seen these games are going
to be very close.
Speaker 3 (02:26:24):
All right, what do you got for us today with baseball.
Speaker 6 (02:26:28):
Yeah, baseball got some stuff. I'm going to start off
guys with under four runs in the five inning line,
Hunter Brown against Joe Ryan. Hunter Brown, outside of I'd
say Toreak School Bulls probably been the best picture in
the American League. He's been absolutely sensational. I don't understand
why this is four. I think this line is just
(02:26:50):
way too I sub two era and Joe Ryan's been
terrific also has been one of the best pictures in
the league. Also, I will dare five runs to be
scored in that game through five innings. I'll be shocked
if a half and feel very very strong about it.
That game. Under four runs in that game, I'm actually
gonna take two of the props guys. Hunter Brown over
seventeen and a half outs, so that's thirty five starts.
He's twenty nine and six. Minnesota isn't scaring me. I'll
(02:27:13):
take my chances. He gets eighteen outs, dat Pax hunder
Brown gets eighteen outs plus Teama TJ O'Connell, Anthony getting
in six and a half points. Those are the things
we know are always going to happen like that one.
And then I'm gonna tak under strikeouts for Joe Ryan. Now,
Joe Ryan is a valid strikeout pitcher, but they made
this total six and a half and he goes over
under that about almost two thirds of the time. In general,
(02:27:36):
I think he's nine to five to that under. And
he's going into an Asters team that's top four in
the league in terms of puffs to strike out. I
think that's too high of the number six and a half.
I think he should be five and a half like
under Joe Ryan strikeouts. And last, I'll give you another
really good pitching matchup mcgil of the Mets versus Rasmussen
of the Rays. Rasmus has been right. One of the
(02:27:56):
hottest pictures in baseball. Took under four runs in the
five nine, and that one as well. I expecting in
a line that game to be closer to like one
one one nothing to one like under four runs. I'll
be very surprised to fire run for score with these
two pictures.
Speaker 4 (02:28:10):
You know, I just want to throw this out there.
I don't know if you know this. I don't even
know if you could bet this in Vegas, but I
believe you could bet it overseas. Do you know what
the hot gambling thing is going on on Twitter right now.
It's I don't even know. I guess it's true because
people are betting it. They're betting that Angel Reese in
the w NBA will miss her first shot. She's missed
(02:28:31):
her first shot. I guess people are making money. Can
you really bet that.
Speaker 6 (02:28:35):
Brad or what?
Speaker 5 (02:28:36):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (02:28:36):
You can.
Speaker 2 (02:28:36):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (02:28:37):
And it's funny if you if you google this, Arnie,
you could watch like uh like on YouTube videos, people
posting their like tickets with Angel Reese missing their first shot,
and you know and like and like it's going like
crazy when she misses. It's become like a it's become
a thing. It actually has become a thing. I can't
say I've partaken, but others certainly have.
Speaker 2 (02:28:57):
Oh my god, really, yes Na really?
Speaker 6 (02:29:01):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (02:29:01):
What's what's the odds?
Speaker 2 (02:29:03):
Oh, I don't know.
Speaker 6 (02:29:04):
They're usually I don't around my fifty to fifty kind
of thing. I believe, I don't like in front of me.
But I I've been I've watched all these videos and
people like celebrating.
Speaker 3 (02:29:16):
A shot.
Speaker 6 (02:29:17):
So yeah, but I don't. I don't know. The world's
twisted twisted exactly. The world is twisted.
Speaker 2 (02:29:25):
You know you would if I knew it was probable,
I would even.
Speaker 6 (02:29:28):
I would do it myself. But that is not something
I've delved too much into. An opening shot kind of
more of a fluke thing whether you make it or
miss it. But to those who have won on it,
congrats to you. But going forward doesn't mean it's going
to keep wunning.
Speaker 3 (02:29:41):
Yeah, oh my god, that's why.
Speaker 2 (02:29:44):
No College World Series for you.
Speaker 4 (02:29:45):
Nothing, no College World Series for you.
Speaker 6 (02:29:48):
No, it's funny. I'm rooting ny a buddy of mine
before the College World Series bet Oregon State. Some rooting
for them, just for him. But uh no, don't know. Again,
I I don't do this just that for quarter action
unless I really think I have an advantage. I'm one
of those people that I bet to Lane. I don't
bet just to have like the thrill of the game,
(02:30:09):
so to speak to me, it's I if I think
I have an advantage, I'll bet whatever on it. But
if I don't think I have an advantage, yeah I'm not.
I'm not doing it. And that I don't. I don't
follow enough. Not there's someone I knew that followed it.
On the elite level. Sure, I bet it, but not
in my Wheelhouse. So I I sometimes I like watching
the games, but not enough to bet it.
Speaker 2 (02:30:27):
Gotcha Yeah, uh, let's uh Judge, yeah, I mean what
were it is just sheer greatness. He's ridiculous. It's like
every night brain.
Speaker 6 (02:30:47):
Yeah, I know, you know it's interesting.
Speaker 2 (02:30:49):
He and I.
Speaker 6 (02:30:51):
He can't give him this, but he's the closest thing
that we've seen. I mean, the three people are younger
me than Oustar. I don't remember the bags hagment when
I'm just taking it real, the steroid version of Barry Bonds. Uh,
there has never been a player like that before. After
anything like that, not at the people realize how ridiculously
(02:31:14):
over the top great Barry Bonds was, and then you
couldn't get him out like his own bight percent. Because
I'm one of you, I believe sixty three percent, which
is thinking like that sixty three percent, which is just
impossible to do. But you look at Judge and you
know his ops this year is you know, one point
two sixty five, which is just at the highest of
(02:31:36):
high levels. The guy thing close to four hundred. He's doing.
He's having one of the I mean, he's I think Anthony,
would you agree? And already This is maybe since Barry
Bonds the closest. It's kind of like the scottis Cheffer
Tiger would sing, right like, this is the closest we've
seen the Tiger. This is the closest seen the Bonds.
Speaker 4 (02:31:55):
Oh yeah, I just wonder what would have happened if
you went to the San Francisco Giants left the Yankees
when he was threatening to do that. What would have
happened to his career? What kind of numbers?
Speaker 6 (02:32:05):
I mean? Well, I well, I think that's try to
be worse because that's a tough stadium. I think it'd
be harder for him, in my opinion. I think it's
a harder. It's harder to hit home runs there, and
I think would probably hurt us curtain a little bit.
But he's so tremendous. I'm sure he got the best
ats anyway.
Speaker 3 (02:32:21):
Yeah, yeah, Bray listen, Happy Father's Day, buddy.
Speaker 6 (02:32:25):
Yes, appreciate man. You see too, brother, Any baseball tournaments.
Speaker 3 (02:32:30):
We got, I just have a singular game today, one game,
all right, man.
Speaker 6 (02:32:33):
We'll good local for you guys too. Well'll be pulling
for you.
Speaker 2 (02:32:35):
Thanks, buddy, appreciate it. That check it in already. I'll
be back in just a moment. Wrap it up right
here on Fox Sports Radio, Fellas, I want to thank
uh Bree our five producer, Mighty Mark, our great sound engineer.
In fact, want to like them on right now to
(02:32:57):
do a quick Father's Day quest A bunch of questions
for you, all right, So, Arnie, who I've enjoyed? Uh,
we had a great time. A lot of fun happened
with you today, buddy, absolutely, so give me. I got
a couple of Father's Day questions, so I used to
do the four. So the Father's Day four would be this,
(02:33:20):
give me your best movie dad?
Speaker 7 (02:33:29):
Who's first?
Speaker 2 (02:33:30):
So I'll say, okay, I'll tell you what. Let's go
uh Bree your first, and then we'll go Mark, and
then we'll go Arnie.
Speaker 7 (02:33:37):
Okay, Oh my gosh, movie dad.
Speaker 3 (02:33:40):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (02:33:42):
Oh I can't think.
Speaker 7 (02:33:45):
I'll go Mark first, then come back to me because
Mark's good on movie TV.
Speaker 4 (02:33:48):
Could it be a TV show too or just.
Speaker 3 (02:33:50):
Strictly you guys?
Speaker 2 (02:33:51):
So I was gonna do separate, but since this is
already hard, let's go off stop.
Speaker 4 (02:33:56):
In my head right now, I'll go with Danny Glow
the weapon number one.
Speaker 3 (02:34:02):
Danny Glover lethal weapon that kind of.
Speaker 4 (02:34:04):
Stupid answers that well, I just got thrown a question.
Oh my god, are you still mad about don't you're
still man? I guess either my answer is stupid or
I'm just old. I was gonna say, mister Cunningham from
Happy Days.
Speaker 2 (02:34:18):
What is that wrong? I love?
Speaker 3 (02:34:21):
That's a answers, it's not.
Speaker 4 (02:34:25):
A this was a bad answer.
Speaker 7 (02:34:26):
Okay, how about Steve Martin and Father of the Bride?
Speaker 2 (02:34:30):
Okay, I love Do you like Steve Marta? I was
going to separate movies and TV? But you know, well,
I guess that.
Speaker 4 (02:34:40):
We don't have big brains like Brad.
Speaker 2 (02:34:47):
All right, give me your favorite sports dad like you
see guys, you know you see them, athletes, coaches have kids.
You ran a bitch.
Speaker 4 (02:35:02):
Marvinovitch.
Speaker 3 (02:35:04):
Wow, man, it's got this quick.
Speaker 7 (02:35:06):
Man.
Speaker 3 (02:35:07):
I thought this would be a sweet little way to end.
Speaker 2 (02:35:09):
The end the show intentions at first.
Speaker 4 (02:35:17):
My favorite LeVar Ball.
Speaker 2 (02:35:18):
I love that guy.
Speaker 6 (02:35:19):
Man.
Speaker 4 (02:35:20):
I'll take.
Speaker 2 (02:35:21):
I'll take. I'm not kidding either.
Speaker 4 (02:35:23):
I love that you got I'll take. Oh, that was
a good one.
Speaker 2 (02:35:26):
That was a good one.
Speaker 4 (02:35:28):
You made up for your last dance.
Speaker 2 (02:35:30):
It's a great answer, all right, and then uh, get
give me your best fatherly advice that you ever received.
This is an easy one for me.
Speaker 3 (02:35:42):
All right, well, bring you go first?
Speaker 2 (02:35:44):
Yeah, go first.
Speaker 3 (02:35:45):
Break?
Speaker 7 (02:35:45):
Oh my god, my dad gives me advice like every day.
Speaker 4 (02:35:48):
I have so many and you can't get it away.
Speaker 7 (02:35:51):
No, because they're all my favorite and I'm not good
putting it on the spot.
Speaker 2 (02:35:55):
Oh he oh, I have one.
Speaker 7 (02:35:56):
I had perfect one. He like if I ever asked
him for advice. So I'm kind of like confused on
what to do. He's always like, I'd rather see you
pick do your own choices and be proud of you
or whatever, rather than me tell you what to do,
like I, you know, I'll support you.
Speaker 2 (02:36:13):
So yeah, So that's like my favorite.
Speaker 3 (02:36:15):
Okay, okay.
Speaker 4 (02:36:16):
My dad said be on time, always beyond time.
Speaker 2 (02:36:20):
So true, so true.
Speaker 7 (02:36:22):
It's important.
Speaker 3 (02:36:23):
That's great.
Speaker 4 (02:36:24):
Uh. What my dad gave me before I got married
and I now pass along to other people before they
get married. My my dad my mom decided that when
they got married, during the course of their marriage, my
dad would make all the big decisions in the marriage
and my mom would make all the small decisions that
came along.
Speaker 2 (02:36:45):
In the marriage.
Speaker 4 (02:36:46):
They were married over fifty years and would you believe
there was never a big decision, Anthony.
Speaker 2 (02:36:51):
So that is the that's the advice that.
Speaker 3 (02:36:54):
He gave me.
Speaker 4 (02:36:56):
He's never a big decision, never a big decision in
fifty years.
Speaker 2 (02:37:00):
That means your wife is making all the decisions, my friend.
That's classic. That's classic. By the way, our boys, Southside Chuck.
He gives you Clark Griswold as his favorite movie. I
like that. I like that. And then he's got two
TV dads he likes Al Bundy and Fred Sanford. Oh
(02:37:21):
those are good ones. Those are good ones.
Speaker 4 (02:37:23):
I love those. See that's a good answer.
Speaker 2 (02:37:25):
Yeah, I love that. Our man, our man, Southside Chuck
all the way. All right, what are we watching? What
do you got going on this weekend? And what are
you watching? Because there's no basketball to watch? No, there's
no basketball.
Speaker 4 (02:37:41):
I guess that takes away that I'm still gonna watch
the College World Series. Watch a little bit that my
Wildcats play tomorrow against Louisville because Oregon State beat them
and a walk off.
Speaker 2 (02:37:51):
Maybe watch a little bit of Today you got. I
can't believe you didn't you like them.
Speaker 3 (02:37:58):
They were seventy five.
Speaker 4 (02:38:00):
Eighty five to eighty five to eighty five to one.
Speaker 2 (02:38:03):
And you didn't play it.
Speaker 4 (02:38:04):
Yeah, yeah, that's that's well. My my wife's like, stop gambling.
You're the worst gambler ever. She thinks something like the worst.
And then I probably am the way. I'm the opposite
of the Brad. I need action on everything. Give me
action on everything.
Speaker 3 (02:38:17):
Oh yeah, that's yeah. Another if he does that stuff
for a living.
Speaker 2 (02:38:21):
So that's so. Yeah, well I play knowing the backstory.
Listen to your wife. Your wife makes all the decisions.
Speaker 4 (02:38:31):
That's all the little decisions.
Speaker 2 (02:38:33):
That's for sure.
Speaker 3 (02:38:33):
That makes that makes perfect That makes perfect sense. Yeah,
I like it.
Speaker 2 (02:38:38):
Just do me a favor. The one thing that we
that I might take away is your stance against Monday
night football. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (02:38:47):
I just need you to revisit that and don't ever
bring that up again.
Speaker 4 (02:38:52):
Just and keep it to yourself. Don't let the bosses
hear you say that, because you could be fired. I'm
like Mark Cuban. I think over saturation of the market.
Ratings have been dropping for about twenty five years, Anthony,
And you know, if you're not gonna take away Sunday.
Speaker 2 (02:39:08):
Night and you got the Thursday night and you have
to still document those I don't believe it.
Speaker 4 (02:39:13):
Okay, you know what, I'm gonna send it to you now.
Now you're gonna make me do some homework.
Speaker 2 (02:39:16):
Yeah, you're not gonna because I don't believe it. I
think that's fake news. Okay, nonsense.
Speaker 4 (02:39:22):
I'm finding it. Even if I got to make it
up myself, I'm gonna fright.
Speaker 2 (02:39:28):
It's no way in the world I say leave Monday
night football or more football, the better.
Speaker 3 (02:39:34):
Everybody.
Speaker 2 (02:39:34):
Old Dad's out there having happy fathers there, right. We
love you guys, have a great week. We'll see you
next Saturday.
