You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (00:28):
Greetings, Welcome inside final hour tonight The Jason Smith Show
with my bes friend Mike Harmon. Happy Friday the thirteenth.

Speaker 3 (00:47):
Okay, I like it.

Speaker 1 (00:50):
I was waiting for it, waiting for it, Happy Friday
the thirteenth.

Speaker 3 (00:55):
I was waiting for that. There we go, there we go. See.
I dig the fact that you never know what you're
gonna get. No, that is true. That is true. That
is true.

Speaker 1 (01:09):
Now I want to say this before we get to
SGA Game four of the NBA Finals.

Speaker 3 (01:16):
Two things. Yeah, only Friday the thirteenth, by the Happy
Birthday Jason Vore.

Speaker 1 (01:20):
He's seventy nine today. Birthday was born on June thirteenth.
The biggest shocker to me, right, Like, you know, there've
been like one hundred Friday the Thirteenth movies and a
remake and all kinds.

Speaker 3 (01:33):
Of crazy stuff TV series.

Speaker 1 (01:35):
Yeah yeah, I'm like, oh, I'm like, okay, what a
And and in any list you get of best Friday
the Thirteenth movies, right, like you know, one through one
hundred and seventeen whatever it was, right, Like the best
one is never at the top, and that's part three
where Jason gets the hockey mask. Like Jason's hockey mask

(02:00):
is one of the most is one of the most
iconic movie props, pieces, pieces of video of all time.
Like like there's so like you think about it, like
Darth Vader's helmet, Jason vor He's like it's right up there,
and like you know, they stumbled on it, right, Like
you know, they didn't give him the mask until like

(02:20):
midway through the third one.

Speaker 3 (02:21):
I don't know where a hockey is. Nobody cared who
he was till he put on the mask.

Speaker 1 (02:25):
Come on, yeah, for guys, never had a line in
like ten movies, right, but like you know, some of
the other movies are pretty good, but like that's the
best one because that that really made the industry happen, right,
Like you had the first one, you had the second
one when you're still you know, the slasher movies are
going on. But that third one, when you gave him
a personality and a persona, and the hockey mask is

(02:46):
synonymous with movies, like you know, we had the conversation
with Steve Disager a few minutes ago where he talked
about how, yeah, you know, how many people really know
at this point? And I'm like, everybody knows Jason Voorhe's everybody,
and everybody knows the hockey Mask, Like, and you look
on every list like it's never at the top. I'm like,
there's no franchise without number three. And he can't in
here and say, oh, well the quality of the movie.

(03:06):
All the movies are the same, except ten, ten is
absolutely awful. It's in space, right, all the movies are
the same, right, all were the same. So here's number three,
which really launched an entire, an entire phenomenon. Like that's
the best and it's never at the top.

Speaker 3 (03:22):
Well, it's always the curiosity, dude. People like the other
kills better. I mean because part two at the guy
rolling down in the wheelchair heard that's my fit. We've
been hearing that all night.

Speaker 1 (03:33):
Tyshon, you got the guy in the wheelchair that got
killed and goes down the steps.

Speaker 3 (03:36):
Can we hear that? Yeah? So I mean you just
look at it from that angle. I mean that's iconic. Yeah,
maybe that's what you do. You decide to go to
a scorecard and it's the best deaths. Wait, I don't
know what the weight he is. Yeah, because the hockey mask,
to you and I is iconic and important, and it

(03:59):
certainly is made a lot of money for the guys
that have been behind the masks through the years and
all the fantasy you know, conventions and comic cons and whatever,
because they sign all sorts of dollars ninety nine replica masks,
kind of like the first gross of masks that you know,
Christian Bale and Michael Kane go through and say, hey,
those are We'll just order more because he said there.

(04:23):
The same thing with these comic cons is like, you know,
I've seen a lot of pictures of hey, you know
this guy was was Jason and all these movies. He's
made a lot of moneies, so good brand. But but
all it's cottage industry. But but I agree with you. Yeah,
I mean you can argue what what what is best
in brand? But obviously the people have spoken.

Speaker 1 (04:46):
Yeah, I mean, look two always has a special place
for me because Jason's wearing a sack over his head
and he's running, and it's like whoa, whenever you got
somebody running after. It's much more better than I'm gonna
walk really fast and hope you trip and fall. I mean,
do we have enough of that? Rob, I'm gonna trip
and fall. If you trip and fall, get up and
keep running. You don't stop it, don't stop and stop.

Speaker 3 (05:05):
And turn around. Like I liked it. He was running
and and And when I.

Speaker 1 (05:08):
First saw that movie in I think it came out
in eighty one, like I remember, I was, I was
spending the summer at my dad's and I saw it
late one night. I'm like, ooh, Friday the thirteenth, Part two,
Like I didn't see part one. We're like, okay, i'll
see part two. It's a scary movie. And I watch
it and I had horrible nightmares for months, like months,
like I really had difficult.

Speaker 3 (05:27):
My mom would sit and talk to me about it.

Speaker 1 (05:29):
I really had difficulty times, like it really affected me
because I'd never seen a movie like that, and I
really had difficulty, like I would wake up, and I'd
be scared sometimes to go to bed if I I
was kind of kind of like when when when I
when a dog hears the fireworks and all of a sudden,
it gets a little, you know, jittery because dogs are
like fireworks, takes a while to calm down and stuff
like That's kind of I would get myself all worked up.

(05:51):
Sometimes I'm like, oh, Friday the thirteenth, and my mom
would say, just go to bed, Just go to bed,
like it was it really like it was probably a
couple of months before I really got back to normal.
And then my family's like, don't see any you can't
go see any horror movies ever again.

Speaker 3 (06:04):
I'm like Okay.

Speaker 1 (06:05):
Then I got older and I realized, okay, I gotta
I can't not watch Everybody goes to see horror movies,
they love them.

Speaker 3 (06:10):
And then I turned into a huge fan, right and
then you know.

Speaker 1 (06:13):
Good communal experience yea, yeah, yeah. I even took History
of the Horror Film at Syracuse. I mean I haven't
took that class like that was like, yeah, I got
History of the Horror Film where we'd watch a horror
film on Thursday, talk about it on Monday, take a
test on it.

Speaker 3 (06:27):
Oh it's fat That best class ever, man, my favorite
class ever in Syracuse. His three film, Oh it sounds
sounds the deal. But let me extend it, right, So
you're talking about you, Jason, you're extending it. You're Scott Fought.
I'm extending the conversation. That is right, okay, Jason Moore,
He's just shoved the guy down the stairs. Spoiler alert

(06:48):
is the the idea of fast Jason versus slow plotting
methodical Jason, or zombie movies where they move really slowly,
methodically versus the guys from World War It would breath
Oh no, no, no, the zombie like that. That's the thing.

Speaker 1 (07:03):
I think that's why people love the zombies like the
Walking Dead and love those movies so much, because everybody thinks, oh, man,
I would love the zombie apocalypse to happen because it
would just be me and a bunch of hot women
and I could just start my life over and I'd
be able to kill all the zombies because they're so slow,
and I would have.

Speaker 4 (07:22):
Like a big red jeep that I could run them
over with that I could just steal from anywhere, and
i'd have guns and I'd have weapons and I'd be
running things and I could start my life over again.

Speaker 1 (07:32):
I think that's why people like But the movies where
the zombies are running. Oh no, I don't want any
part of this, man, No, I want any part of
that post apocalyptic world.

Speaker 3 (07:39):
No, no, no, your monologue was really good, right, dramatic reenactment. Yeah,
you missed the part where you're supposed to take a
beat and take a long drag off a cigarette. Oh yeah,
I probably should have done that, you know what I mean,
Like you really sell that as a you're pensive and
telling this story.

Speaker 1 (07:56):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, because that's what the that's what people
think the zombie apocalypse is gonna be.

Speaker 3 (08:01):
Oh, I get start.

Speaker 1 (08:02):
I'm gonna wind up going from what I'm doing now
to being the president.

Speaker 3 (08:05):
I'm gonna run things like the governor.

Speaker 1 (08:08):
I'm gonna run and I'm gonna all these hot women
are gonna show up and it's gonna be great.

Speaker 3 (08:14):
I don't really have to be scared. And when I
was running a refrigeration and now I'm the guy that
the leader of the free world, I get Bob Zombi.

Speaker 1 (08:22):
I was Bob Vance advanced refrigeration and now I lead
the entire.

Speaker 3 (08:26):
East Coast second the second week, second reference of the
week for Bob Vance Advanced Refrigeration. You that's one of
my favorite lines of the office.

Speaker 1 (08:37):
Do you take Bob Vance Advance Refrigeration to be your
lavel wedded husband.

Speaker 3 (08:44):
Because the other one was going around today? Right? I'm
not not superstitious, but you know, sometimes I'm a little
shits oh Man.

Speaker 1 (08:53):
Jason Smith, Mike Harmon live from the Fox Sports Radio studio.
So happy Friday the thirteenth for those of you who celebrate. Meanwhile,
we're celebrating that we're probably gonna get a seven games,
probably gonna get a seven game.

Speaker 3 (09:07):
Series in the NBA Finals. Now seven Yeah, I.

Speaker 1 (09:11):
Mean, it's uh it it felt that way after Game two.
I said, it looks like it's game seven. It feels
that way after Game four, And to to just focus
for a second and spotlight Shay Gilgess Alexander scoring fifteen
points in the fourth quarter, all in the final five

(09:31):
and a half minutes. Now coming up in a few minutes,
we'll get to the the reason he was able to
score those fifteen points, which, okay, you gotta have equal
time when the officiating is that slanted towards you. But this,
this is what MVPs do, like, this is what when
when I was looking at this game, I said after
game three, I said, hey, he's gonna score forty. They're
gonna win game four because he knows I did not

(09:52):
play like an MVP in game three, and it's time
that I put my stamp on this series. Now I'll
take the win because I said forty and he got
thirty five.

Speaker 3 (10:01):
Okay, whatever, Okay, well, but I mean you abandoned him.
You you forsook him mid game, and we're calling for a
PACER's route. No, no, no, I said, you were on air. No, no,
you were on air. I'll tell you what I said.
You said, MVP as this guy's doing nothing.

Speaker 1 (10:18):
Okay, you've been watching too many NYPD Blue reruns. Hey,
maybe my ads. We're gonna make sure we cleared his
case here. Okay, I said, hey, pacers, look like they're
gonna run away with this. I don't like the way
the game's going for the Thunder. The only way they
win is if SGA puts them on his back and
takes them all the way. Now, it didn't happen until

(10:38):
the five and a half minute mark of the fourth quarter.
But it happened. It was enough. I don't care they
didn't have any assists. I don't care what he did
before that, when it was a niptuck game. Again, fifteen
points in the final five and a half minutes. That
this is This is why I picked the Thunder to win.
It's why I picked them every round in the playoffs
because they simply have the best player on the floor
every playoff series they play. And yes, the Pacers are fantastic.

(11:02):
Haliburton's fantastic. Siakam is really good. He's playing like KD
at his peak in the playoffs. But Sga is the
best player and he should be the face of the league.
He always makes the right basketball decisions. Sometimes the right
basketball decisions are I gotta get everybody involved, get to
the free throw line. Sometimes it's I got to keep
the basketball, not worry about setting anybody up because this

(11:23):
is a game where I have to do it. And
that's how the last six minutes broke out. He's got
to do it.

Speaker 3 (11:28):
He knew he had to. He did. It's what MVP's do. Man.
What it's what's so exciting about the guy? Right?

Speaker 1 (11:33):
Like, you know, I know, you get caught up in, Hey,
Anthony Edwards is really athletic some of the plays he makes.
But you know, sometimes there's something to be said for
just always making the right play. And it's not that
Michael Jordan was always a highlight reel. I mean he was,
But how many times did he win games at the
end of the at the end, big playoff games by
hitting a fifteen foot step back jumper right to go

(11:55):
from a two point lead to a four point lead
and that closes the door on the lake or on
the blit, whatever it is, Like he had just as
many shots like that as he had. Oh look at
this great move where he glides to the rim and
he moves it to his left hand and he goes
in Like.

Speaker 3 (12:10):
Yeah, he had a lot of those.

Speaker 1 (12:12):
But he also won games of the free throw line
by making sure he got there and hitting shots like
this like this is go back and look, this is
how Jordan won games. This is how SGA's winning games.
Whatever is needed at the end, he makes the right decision, right.
Lebron gets caught up and saying, oh, hey, Lebron, why
didn't you take that wide open three at the end.
Why did you pass it off to Anthony Davis, Well,
I was a right basketball play. No, sometimes the right

(12:34):
basketball play is the best player on the team taking
a shot.

Speaker 3 (12:37):
But you know what do I know?

Speaker 1 (12:38):
But like he's always caught up and that was the
right basketball play to make the right basketball play. I
feel like SGA just inherently makes the right basketball play
all the time.

Speaker 3 (12:48):
And you watch the.

Speaker 1 (12:49):
Last six minutes of this, there's there's nothing you can say.
He could have done different or you would have done different.
He finds guys when he needs to find him. But
this is where I need to keep the ball and
make shots. And that's what he did. And I'm telling
you that's why the guy's so much fun.

Speaker 3 (13:02):
Well, my favorite was his postgame comments to kind of
encapsulate them. Was not only the three to one is
a lot different than two two going back home, but
recognizing all that was going to be said if they
lost this game. He goes, and I couldn't let that happen. Quote.
We played with desperation to end the game and that's

(13:24):
why we won. He did the Homer Simpson. I can't
let that happen. I won't let that happen. And I
can't let that happen. That's right, right, because I mean, look,
he played a pedestrian game. The zero assists is still
kind of remarkable. And he gave guys some wide open
looks because they collapse on him and they beat the
hell out of him, because that's that's the other side

(13:46):
of it, right. He got a couple of calls late
superstar calls, and you can call the push off whatever,
but plenty of times during the game he's looking around
going why am I not getting that call? I just
got sent to the deck again, So it you know
the give and take of that process as well. But
in the final five and a half plus minutes, he

(14:06):
outscored everybody and then some the Pacers just seventeen points
in the fourth quarter. Defense is ratcheted things up, but
SGA just saying all right, I'll play isoball. But in
the end, I'm getting to the free throw line eight
for eight down the stretch.

Speaker 1 (14:21):
Now, speaking of that eight for eight, that is also
incredibly interesting because SGA did everything tonight and showed you
why he's the MVP. However, the Pacers got hosed by
a plethora of calls in the final couple minute, a
plethora both things can be true. We tell you why
when you want to extend a series. Scott Foster obviously

(14:44):
is that guy we break it down? Coming up next?
Right here, Jason and Mike. You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
I thought Tycher was looking for the guy falling down
the stairs on Friday.

Speaker 3 (14:56):
The thirte.

Speaker 2 (15:04):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 1 (15:22):
Fox Sports Radio. The Jason Smith Show with My best
friend Mike Harmony Friday to thirteenth. I can't believe it's
the only one of the year. I mean, like usually
sometimes we get like four or five. It's the only
one this year.

Speaker 3 (15:36):
Your selfish bastard, there you go, June taking it all
for itself, may say, friend.

Speaker 1 (15:50):
So I just posted the jiff of this kill that
ty shirt keeps it is infatuated with, which I gotta
say I was infatuated with a lot in my life too,
going Wow.

Speaker 3 (15:58):
That's that's amazing. Keeps going down the hill stuff of legend, man,
it is, it is keeps growing and as we talk
and celebrate this and no doubt in a AI chat
room and someone has come up with fifteen more operations
by which Jason could destroy somebody, which will become the

(16:20):
next movie.

Speaker 1 (16:20):
Now I want to know this because this is something
that I think is a big thing. We'll get back
in the NBA finals side, because this is a big
thing that I think Hollywood has missed. A Jason movie. Okay,
Jason movie that's a horror movie that's also a comedy
where it's like twelve huge stars who take like very

(16:43):
little money to do a horror movie and where Jason
kills everybody or kills all of them and they make
it to the end, and it's all incredibly big stars, right,
like Jennifer Lawrence is in it, and you know, Sabrina
Carpenter and Olivia Rodrigo and Olivia Munn and Bradley Cooper,

(17:04):
like some of the biggest stars.

Speaker 3 (17:06):
All show up. They're all doing it. Whatever you want
to make it.

Speaker 1 (17:08):
It's an adult weekend at a camp or something in
Jason's kill Are, but it's a comedy. It's gotta be
a comedy too, Like how has that not been made?
Because that I think stars would would love to.

Speaker 3 (17:18):
Be in a movie like that seems to me the
opportunity expired when my guy go Wildcats Gary Marshall did,
because this could have been the natural extension of all
of those that he did right for New Year's, New
Year's Eve and Valentine's Day and whatever else, that was
the natural extension a horror holiday camp. Oh man, I

(17:41):
mean that that could be it. Oh, horror holiday camp,
and and and he's and they.

Speaker 1 (17:45):
Think it's actually like they all decide, Oh no, no,
they all play themselves. They all play themselves and they
go to horror holiday camp.

Speaker 3 (17:54):
Hey, it's kind of fun, you know, all the.

Speaker 1 (17:56):
Maybe they're all gonna do a movie together. It's like
a big con.

Speaker 3 (17:59):
No, he is here to get people come in and
sign autographs or whatever. But then they go home at
night and it's just them around the campfire.

Speaker 1 (18:06):
Yeah yeah, yeah, Like they're all gonna do a movie together.
Like they're all gonna do like a like a Steven
Soderberg movie. Who has a big you know, a big cast.
So it's like ten, ten or twelve of them and
it's like a bonding thing. Hey, we're all gonna do
we all decided to do a horror holiday camp just
to get to know each other. We're all gonna all
these scenes in there, great great, great and their workshire,
and there's your inner there's your internal conflict, which is

(18:28):
how they're getting along. They're not getting along in the movie.
Like some of them don't like each other. You know,
Bradley Cooper suddenly is fighting with Jennifer Lawrence when.

Speaker 3 (18:35):
That guy's beat me out for a roll eight years ago.

Speaker 1 (18:37):
Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, you know, like Dave Franco
shows up and it's like, hey, you know what you
tell your brother?

Speaker 3 (18:42):
You know, all the kind of stuff, right and one
and then you just watched seth Rogen Show again, did you?

Speaker 1 (18:48):
And I did a movie with magic And it's like, yeah,
I was cheating. I was cheating the whole time. And
meanwhile you think, okay, this is how it goes. And
if you die in the horror, if you're dead, Okay,
you're dead, and we don't see you the rest of
the weekend.

Speaker 3 (19:05):
Okay, I get it, I get it. But meanwhile, they're.

Speaker 1 (19:07):
Really getting killed or you think they're really getting killed,
And then you have to do the test audience thing.

Speaker 3 (19:12):
Would you like it if the kills were all real?
Or just like it?

Speaker 1 (19:14):
If the kills were fake and it was a whole
thing to make them all come together as a cast. Like,
I don't know what the better ending is, but I
am patent pennanting the hell out of that movie right now.

Speaker 3 (19:23):
Yeah, let's start to work on that one. That one's yeah,
I think that one's got some legs. Okay, I think
we got enough. Guess, and look, if people are gonna
keep joining season eighty seven of the Traders and all
this other stuff, we can get them on board this
holiday horror camp. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, that would be
awesome mony campers.

Speaker 1 (19:46):
Jason Smith my carbon again. Happy Friday the thirteenth, if
you celebrate now. Look Game four of the NBA Finals,
we watched the Thunder come from behind win a thriller,
and look we all win because now, look it looks
like this here going seven. I thought it was after
two games. It looks like we're there right now. I
expect to go home, home home, and the Thunder to

(20:06):
be the champions. But as great as it was great
at performance, we saw from Sga, as great as as
what he did in the final five and a half minutes,
single handedly lifting up the Thunder and dragging them across
the finish line. Uh, there's a reason why Scott Foster
was assigned to that game and extenders extend. Don't sit here,

(20:27):
and you can't sit here and tell me you're surprised,
you're shocked.

Speaker 3 (20:30):
I can't believe.

Speaker 1 (20:30):
I didn't think this would happen, because, make no mistake
about it, the Thunder had this game handed to them
with some of the calls in the final two minutes
of regulation. This is a niptuck one point game. And
there were five calls where I sat there and said, Wow,
clearly the NBA wants this game to go set, this
series to go seven right. The first one was the

(20:51):
lou Dort play, which is just absolutely stunning that no
foul is called. The Pacers are down one and they're
trying to get the p out to Tyrese Halliburton and
loud Dort all NBA player, right, all NBA defensive player,
so I can't fault to good strategy. Loud Dort simply
just shoves Tyrese Halliburton out of the way when he's
gonna get the ball, grabs the ball and goes in

(21:13):
for a layup, gets fouled, goes to the free throw
line like this is not even close, like this is
just I'm two handed shoving you into the fourth row,
and no foul is called.

Speaker 3 (21:22):
Wow, So there's two free throws for the Thunder.

Speaker 1 (21:25):
Right, you had two big pushoffs from SGA where it
was full arm extended, like this is not just little,
this is like hey, one on one where you're watching
the play and he's full arm extended, offensive foul but
not called two jumpers four points for the Thunder where
clearly you could have called an easy offensive foul on

(21:46):
either of them. Right, And then you had the fouls
before the ball was inbounded a couple of times when
it was still a three point game with about a
minute left to inside the final minute, where the fouls
away from the ball before the ball was inbounded. So
SGA gets the free throw line to shoot a free
throw not once but twice. Right the first time, I

(22:07):
don't know how he gets there. There's nothing that goes
on that Matt Matheren gets called for the foul and
I'm saying, what are you kidding? Like, and I saw
Rick Carlisle. He was like breathing fire in the sideline.
After that, then you had the second one where okay,
that one I can kind of see because Sga fell
down and the defender fell into him from behind. That
one I can kind of see a little bit. But
usually you don't get that call. You don't get oh hey,

(22:28):
here's a foul. Here's a foul call before the ball
is inbounded away from the ball, so you get free throws.
So in the final two minutes you add the lou
Dort play that that's absolutely needs to be called. Two
jumpers you get away with where you extend your arm,
its an offensive foul, and two times before the inbound
you get free free throw free free throws. And so

(22:49):
that's eight points that the Thunder got in the last
couple of minutes, the last ninety seconds that helped them
win this game by seven.

Speaker 3 (22:58):
All right, now I get go back right where Rushow
ends up going to the line when they upgrade a foul,
and it's.

Speaker 1 (23:04):
Like, oh yeah, yeah, hard. I mean, you know, I
get that you're right because that was a bad call too.
But that's something that you can come back from.

Speaker 3 (23:12):
Right.

Speaker 1 (23:12):
You know, a call in the first you know you're
upgrading a play to a to a flagrant foul in
the first in the first half of the game. Okay,
you can come back from that, right, you have enough
basketball to say, Oh, that call killed us.

Speaker 3 (23:23):
It's one call in the second quarter. Oh, it doesn't matter.

Speaker 1 (23:26):
These are five calls in the final ninety seconds that
flipped the game. I absolutely flipped the game. And I
can't believe for Carlile didn't say anything after the game.
I can't believe I'm the one saying the Pacers got
screwed when I'm usually the one saying Pacers stopped complaining.
But look, I got to call it how I saw it,
and that's exactly how I saw the final couple minutes
of this game. You had five calls that could have

(23:47):
flipped the game, could have made it a closer game,
and instead all of them, four of them ridiculously went
to the side of the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Speaker 3 (23:55):
Now I got two good ones as related to Scott Foster. First,
we got justin. This comes via Twitter at how about
a Fresco at Swollen Dome at Fox Sports Radio. Please
send it along. Scott Foster's Adam Silver's version of the
Jackass Richard Keel guy from Happy Gilmore, I need you
here in Indiana tomorrow. Silver. I thought we were gonna

(24:17):
be friends, so and you got that. And then Eric
via the Instagram world, I'm over at Swollen Dome. He
fired off a I wonder if there isn't some sort
of like the sound of Manchurian candidate that activates him
in the middle of a game. Right, Also like Reggie
Jackson in the Naked Gun, Well, we keep getting the

(24:41):
Naked Gun in ChIL the Queen, Right, there's a sound,
there's a trigger and boom, Hey, we we got ourselves
some activity and now we get some fouls. Look the
SGA push off things. That's how that's how he won
the MVP. Like that's that was all year long. So
like those those id feel like that's kind of what

(25:02):
we've been doing here. So there's really nothing there. The
dort one is absurd. The Cruso one changes it just
because you're talking about tone and tenor of how you're
setting a game in terms of physicality, So that one
ends up becoming an outlier because you let him beat
the hell out of each other for the rest of
the game except in a couple of critical moments. And

(25:22):
then Matherin getting to the free throw line after the
first technical, right, they steal the inbound and then he
misses two free throws, like, well, you had a chance
to do cheaters proof right there by getting that play
and making a play, and you didn't take advantage from
the charity stripe, something that the Pacers did frequently during
this game. So I do agree with Carlisle, and in

(25:45):
some respects they have only themselves to blame that. And
you know, the Thunder played pretty good defense, Jason. So
that's part of the other side of it, because notice
all the calls. We're talking about the Thunder on the
offensive side, not defending what the Pacers were trying to do.

Speaker 1 (26:04):
Exit out about a Fresca exit swollen dome, Jason Smith
Mike Carmen Live from the Fox Sports Radio Studios, Left,
I picked the Thunder to win this series. You think
I'm saying, oh, everything is fine. No, those calls were
absolutely horrendous. And boy, again, the NBA always knows who
they're calling up when they put him out there, right.
I mean, Tony Brothers had to say, hey, man, I
tried to I tried to wear your cape and cowl,

(26:26):
but I'm not the real extender. You are the real extender.
Scott Fastery takes the uniform back and says they called me.

Speaker 3 (26:32):
I have to go do my thing.

Speaker 1 (26:34):
I mean eight free throws for SGA in the Final Cup.
I mean, come on, man, I'd be really what do
you have? Two free throws in the first three and
a half quarters and then eight more in the final
Come on man.

Speaker 3 (26:44):
By the way, welcome to the free throw line, Tyrese
Halliburt and he got there for the first time in
the series.

Speaker 1 (26:48):
Yeah, yeah, it's nice. Hey, hey, well, the series is
starting again now. It's now best of three.

Speaker 3 (26:52):
We're all good.

Speaker 1 (26:53):
Game on time now to find out what's trending in
the wide world of sports with someone who's been called
the Jason Vour. He's a Fox Sports Radio because he's
both gone to.

Speaker 3 (27:03):
Hell and taken Manhattan. It's Steve Disaga.

Speaker 5 (27:05):

Speaker 3 (31:04):
Ten back to, You thank, You STEVE.

Speaker 1 (31:06):
O you know it is it is one crazy, thing
right to talk about the officiating here like THE, Nba
LIKE nba fans now, know like you have to be
a pretty decent SIZED nba, fan but you, know the
the the there's been enough officiating questions that you kind
of get hip. To certain officials get to the games
and you, Know Scott foster does a game and they

(31:27):
call them the extender and you see stuff go.

Speaker 3 (31:29):
On.

Speaker 1 (31:31):
It, really it still amazes me that despite the fact
that all of this talk is out there and you
see what happens in games When Scott foster officiates it
or whoever, else that he still GETS Nba finals assignments.

Speaker 3 (31:46):
And they're still gonna do.

Speaker 1 (31:48):
It and there's no you could you could have you
could you could send anybody you want. TO i don't
think anybody's gonna complain About Scott foster not.

Speaker 3 (31:55):
Doing AN Nba playoff, game, well unless he retires all.
Together if suddenly he's not getting the sim it's, like,
wow was he that? Bad how did he get downgraded
that badly after all those years Of finals. Appearances what?
Happened did they change the metrics and the evaluation? Process i'm?

Speaker 1 (32:13):
Confused exit out about A, fresca exit Swollen Dome The
Jason Smith show with my best Friend Mike. Carbon thank,
You Scott, foster thank you for extending this. Series we'll
see you again in game. Seven or maybe.

Speaker 3 (32:26):
Not maybe his work is.

Speaker 1 (32:26):
Done Maybe this is one of those nights where, says
my work is done. Here and like you know in
the movie where where the girlfriend, says will you ever
come back around this way?

Speaker 3 (32:35):
Again i'll wait for. YOU i don't. Know i'm a busy.

Speaker 1 (32:37):
Guy Maybe i'll come back, around BUT i have to
go where the league sends me Because i'm the. Extender
and he takes off like on a train or on
a horse and he waves good.

Speaker 3 (32:47):
Pie it's like the trend going. Around someone that's been
in my timeline is tell me every movie ending isn't
better if you add born to run as the final scene.
Ends SO i saw one With Casa blaika getting your little. Friendship, pause,

(33:09):
pause dam and off it. Goes uh coming up, next.

Speaker 1 (33:19):
Proof That mike AND i should be running The New York,
knicks and, uh what it means to play solitaire During
game four of THE Nba, Finals jason And Mike Fox Sports.

Speaker 2 (33:27):
Radio be sure to catch live editions Of The Jason
Smith show With Mike harmon weekdays at ten Pm, eastern
seven Pm, Pacific Fox Sports.

Speaker 3 (33:37):
Radio The Jason Smith show With my Best Friend Mike. Harmon. Up,
Uh i'm not this is not me being overly. Confident
this is not me saying something that's.

Speaker 1 (33:54):
Outlandish IF i had been running The knicks the last,
week they'd be much better.

Speaker 3 (33:58):
Off than they are right. NOW i mean, really because
what DID i? Say what DID i say last? Night?

Speaker 1 (34:02):
RIGHT i should be running The knicks BECAUSE i would
have gotten them past this Ridiculous, hey calling these teams
to try to get permission from, coaches where teams are
going to tell you to get? Bent right When tibbs got,
fired the GUY i, said, hey top of my, List Mike.
Brown why really good offensive system that works with The knicks.

(34:23):
Defensively he is a great. Coach he is going to
get them where.

Speaker 3 (34:26):
They need to.

Speaker 1 (34:27):
Be he has experience in big markets coaching. Superstars he's
got the same resume As Jason. Kidd, right we've seen
it One coach of The year two years. Ago Mike
brown would be, great you, Said Taylor. Jenkins he's the
guy to call talk, to, Right you like every you
can throw out what happened with With John moran because
It's John moran and he's as we've, seen it's a
little difficult to try to.

Speaker 3 (34:47):
Coach it gets a little bit of a hall pass on.

Speaker 1 (34:50):
Here, right these are the names we, said, why, hey
go for these, guys because these are who you should
be talking to right. Away if you Interview Mike brown
And Taylor jenkins And Michael, malone these are the. Guys
no one's gonna, Say, okay we talked to these three. Guys,
meanwhile you could back channel the hell out of maybe
figuring out If Jason kidd would want the, job and
then you call The mavericks and ask for. Permission they

(35:12):
might say, no But Jason kidd, says, WAIT i want that.
Job once a coach says he wants a job with another,
team you have to let him go because he can't
come back and coach that team after saying, it and
then you're just figuring out.

Speaker 3 (35:21):
Compensation back channel the hell out of. It like when you're,
looking you're.

Speaker 1 (35:25):
Talking you never know when that's when A Jason kidd
or A Quinn snyder or A Billy dotovi it, says,
hey wait a, minute and.

Speaker 3 (35:30):
Then you reach. Out once you get, permission you talk
to the.

Speaker 1 (35:33):
Guy but instead The knicks go oh for, six even
go over with guys that don't even have a head coaching.
Job right, Now, jay right, Now i'd rather stay retired
than coach The knicks, right talk To Mike, Brown Tailor,
deeds the guys you gotta talk to. First what's been
the big story? Today shamsharania tweets this out beginning Of
game four THE Nba, Finals The knicks will speak with

(35:53):
Both Mike brown And Taylor jenkins next week with their
first two official interviews to try to Place Tom. Thibodeau
maybe more are, coming but now these are the first
two guys they're going to talk to.

Speaker 3 (36:04):
Officially jason defensive. Coordinators you do it together if you want.
To like last, night what DID i?

Speaker 1 (36:11):
SAY i, said if you paid, me if no one
would call, Me i'd, say give me fifty grand.

Speaker 3 (36:16):
And i'll in an, Hour i'll have the top name for. You.

Speaker 1 (36:19):
Me it will take me all of three minutes to
get The Mike. Brown but fifty, grand that's all you
need to.

Speaker 3 (36:23):
Do fifty.

Speaker 1 (36:24):
GRAND i would have had you in a much better
spot than you are, now because no one would think
you're a laughing. Stock no one think you don't know
what's going, on you don't know what you're, doing that
you're not a destination. Anymore, No, NO i had you
talk to these guys first and then see what you
can shake. Free i'd have done that in three minutes
and only charge them fifty whatever he's Paying Leon. Roads
it's way too much BECAUSE i could have come in
and done this three minutes worth of work fifty.

Speaker 3 (36:45):
Grand i'm not.

Speaker 1 (36:46):
GREEDY i Would that's, okay fifty grand for three minutes
worth of, work but it gets you a head. Coach,
hey that's worth it for. Me that that's that's absolutely.
Proportional but think about.

Speaker 3 (36:55):
It, extrapolated it's it's a million dollars an. Hour so going, forward,
bam million dollar. Quote we had to get proof of. Concept,
MIKE i gotta do. IT i gotta do it.

Speaker 1 (37:05):
ONCE i gotta do it once and so it, works
THEN i could Charge brown's.

Speaker 3 (37:10):
At least got to get him back to The Eastern conference. Finals, yeah,
yeah absolutely. Does so if that, HAPPENS i, mean all
of a, sudden your website goes. Up you're, Ready you're
ready to cook the next coaching higher that someone's uh
looking to.

Speaker 1 (37:23):
MAKE i, mean, REALLY i it's easy to, say boy
when the when a guy in the radio is better
off at running the knicks and the guy actually running
the knicks that's.

Speaker 3 (37:32):
Something, now on the plus, side we did get paid
to espouse these. Views it is. True, yeah that's. True
SO i mean, like we didn't get the fifty thousand
dollars for three. Minutes, no at LEAST i didn't. Get.
NO i didn't get that. EITHER i didn't GET i
got the thrill of being on the radio for. That
that's what happened. There, well you have a lot of
folks that clearly, listen high, powered influential people going boy that.

(37:54):
Lunatic AS i was listening on the iHeartRadio app WHEREVER

and his idiot co, host he gave up this other
guy call him, Too so they they know that we're

Speaker 1 (38:32):

of the Song? Solitaire isn't it share? Song and she
might she might solid somebody else does.

Speaker 3 (38:40):

man that was.

Speaker 1 (38:45):
No BUT i want to, say Like Laura brandigan or, somebody,
no somebody we got something big has a?

Speaker 3 (38:51):
Song Solid share had a song Called? Solitaire ok all
the way back to the. Seventies all, right all, right all,

have very well been.
