That's right.
Speaker 3 (00:53):
Horey Chaves is coming up in about twenty eight minutes
the former NFL dB and of course Draft Nastymagazine dot com.
And before we get into some more football NFL Draft
and Travis Hunter going to the Jaguars, I do want
to set a very special shout out to a close
friend of mine, Marcia Wilson. Marcia Wilson, Marcia, Marcia. That's
(01:18):
my mother's name is that right. Yeah, Marcia, Marcia Wilson,
who we went to college together at Southern Connecticut State University.
Speaker 4 (01:26):
And she lived in the We lived in the same dorm. Yep.
Speaker 3 (01:32):
She I lived on top, you know, on the top floor,
and she lived below me. And I can remember hearing
her music play in the morning or whatever we're taking
shower to get ready for school.
Speaker 4 (01:42):
She retired today. That really struck me, you know what
I mean, Like I've known.
Speaker 3 (01:47):
Her since she was nineteen eighteen or nineteen, and now
this whole life is gone by, and she retired from
her job today.
Speaker 4 (01:55):
And you told her that you're never retiring. No, that's
not true. That's what she told her.
Speaker 1 (01:59):
That's great for you. I ain't never retiring. But that's
wild though. Seriously, we were talking about it because as
old as you are, as old as I am, as
people listen like you can still for those who went
to college, you can vividly remember the smell of a
dorm room, the songs playing, the you know, the nervousness
maybe going into your icebreaker college parties, and just like
(02:20):
you can feel that, but a whole lot so far
that you're like, wait, she's she's wedding retiring. Right when
you said that, I felt that.
Speaker 3 (02:30):
It really like it's because that's like one of my
closest friends retiring for the first time. So I'm starting
to go through this now. But anyway, I want to
wish or nothing but the best of law. I sent
her flowers on Monday to a job. I don't want
to wait till today because you know, like probably trying
to get out of there and all that, whether they
get lost or whatever.
Speaker 4 (02:47):
So best of luck, Marcia.
Speaker 3 (02:49):
I mean you will see the next chapter of life.
Speaker 4 (02:52):
She married. No, okay, I'm married. Just gonna throw that
out there. Just did y'a ever make that pass? Okay?
Speaker 1 (03:01):
If we look up and I'm fitty whatever and you're
and then if I'm not married, you're not married, it.
Speaker 4 (03:06):
Bes no, just because you know, I'm just curious. We
did not make that pack. Why all right, let's go
all right now?
Speaker 1 (03:15):
You want to talk sports, Yes, so I do want
to say that.
Speaker 4 (03:20):
And uh uh the Jaguars, you know, I give them credit.
Speaker 3 (03:26):
Okay, Well there were nowhere going organization, right, they got
their quarterback and they saw him to a big deal
and they had that little playoffs, you know, coming back
against the Chargers. You remember that that was a huge
and it looked like that was going to be a
turning point in that franchise. And don't forget they were
in an AFC championship game. They were against the Patriots
with Blake Bortles and then unbelievable defense.
Speaker 4 (03:48):
You remember that Blake Bortles for the rest of his
life is gonna hang on to that. No, it was,
and and they let it the half, and then they
lost in the second.
Speaker 1 (03:55):
I won't let the Tim Tebow eight yard pass that
was ran the rest of the seven exactly by the receiver.
Speaker 4 (04:02):
Boy, I tell you he beat the bro I'm sorry
he beat the Steelers. Who we got here? I thought Jerry.
Speaker 1 (04:07):
I thought Jerry would want the popping circumstance of the
Sanders family.
Speaker 4 (04:11):
No, don't do that.
Speaker 1 (04:11):
Instead, they drafted Donovan and it was a cool an
edge rusher, an ed rusher.
Speaker 4 (04:18):
So uh.
Speaker 3 (04:19):
But I guess the biggest question is two things. When
you're a really good player, you're gonna go to a
bad team. That's usually how it goes. You're a part
of it. A lot of people didn't want Joe Burrow
to go to Cincinnati.
Speaker 4 (04:29):
What did he do?
Speaker 3 (04:30):
Second year after being hurt. Part of his first year,
they go the Super Bowl. He's a part of the solution.
So now can Travis Hunter be a part of the
solution there in Jacksonville take some of the pressure.
Speaker 4 (04:46):
Off of Lawrence? Right? What do you make of this
and the move?
Speaker 3 (04:50):
I like it for them because I think it's easy
to just kind of do the status quo. They went
out and said, here's a generational talent. Two way and
why not. I like what Here's what I think they did.
Two things just happened.
Speaker 4 (05:04):
One.
Speaker 1 (05:04):
As much as we talk about you know, man, this
player is gonna do this player is gonna do that.
Speaker 4 (05:08):
We you know, let's keep it real.
Speaker 1 (05:10):
Sports is also about filling up your arenas, your stadiums,
right your ballpark.
Speaker 4 (05:15):
It's a business.
Speaker 1 (05:15):
It's a business, and sometimes I think a lot of
fans don't want to know dirty seekers that And you
know this, every organization they trying to win, win, win, win,
They're trying to win. But it ain't about to go
at all costs and expenses and buy new buildings and
new arenas. And we are just fine letting this money
take ten to fifteen percent every year, you know, increase.
So some organizations. You know that, hey we can. We
(05:37):
we're trying to win, but we're also trying to make money.
And I say that to say, you.
Speaker 3 (05:40):
Remember when the Bulls did that, when they blew up
the Michael Jordan bully.
Speaker 4 (05:44):
And paper, that's the craziest thing ever think about. Think
about they did.
Speaker 3 (05:47):
They were like, no, we're good, yep, we won six years,
We're good, and then.
Speaker 4 (05:53):
Says if you bring Phil back, I'll come back.
Speaker 1 (05:57):
We're done with if we had a run, so thank you.
You would think we got Michael Jordan come when to
come back? We ain't never. I don't care if Phil
Jackson's eighty eight, but they let him go. I said
that to say so, I think the the Jags are saying, look,
we have a superstar that will also transcend just on
the field, but also get butts in seats, get people
wanting to have, you know, be in our arenas and
(06:19):
want to do deals with us, and you know, just
sponsors and just it'll be cool just to have Travis
Hunter and all the Heisman Trophy winner and also seemingly
a spectacular athlete and talent. Also, I think what they're
doing is getting Trevor Lawrence, who they're highly invested in
some more help on the offensive end, because all the
things we keep hearing is.
Speaker 4 (06:40):
And you and I just did who do we just
have on? Who'sman's out?
Speaker 1 (06:42):
It a heck of a receiver TJ who's his own
self had a really nice career. He said, Man, that
guy's just different. He's just built different. He's just one
of those ones. I remember he said that. Everybody we
keep having on says that another edge rusher from Ohio
State goes forty fifth pick to the Colts. There I
said that to say, you pare him with a rookie
and Brian Thompson junior who had a heck of a
(07:04):
rookie year for the Jags eighty seven receptions, almost thirteen
hundred yards, ten touchdowns. Now I got Travis Hunter on
the other end, No, and you got etn.
Speaker 4 (07:18):
You start to have some things.
Speaker 1 (07:19):
With Trevor Lawrence, like, all right, bro, we've invested in you,
We've given you the tools.
Speaker 3 (07:24):
And he got the money quarterbacks, so you gotta give
him those other tools. Otherwise, what is the point And
to move up and say we're going to get one
of the best receivers in the game. He can also
do a help us out defensively to one of a
kind kind of player.
Speaker 4 (07:41):
Sometimes you need to make moves for that. I'm not mad.
Speaker 3 (07:44):
Why are you gonna be the middle of the road
Jaguars that nobody cares about?
Speaker 1 (07:48):
And the division is open too, that's the key thing.
So if we get Trevor Lawrence and we can get
him another receiver on that side, because Brian Thomas Junior
looks like he's gonna be a really nice receiver in
his lead for a while. Travis Hunter, We've got etm
we got some other pieces and you know what else.
We'll see what else they do this draft. Right, there's
still more moves to be made. Now you can say
we're suing up this offensive side of the ball because
(08:10):
Trevor Lawrence was underwhelming last year and I never see
he was injured and stuff, but he was bad. He
was underwhelming. He has been. So now you can say, man,
we've exhausted a lot of options for you, and we
have to start looking at ourselves and figuring out are
you the guy moving forward because we just now got
you another star receiver. And now to mention, oh, by
(08:30):
the way, thirty thirty five plays a game on the
other side of the ball, we might have one of
the better corners over the next couple of years as well,
or a punk kick returner like who knows what they'll
use him as. I get why they do it, because
they're trying to help an investment from four years ago
in Trevor Lawrence, equally by investing in Travis Hunter.
Speaker 3 (08:49):
Yeah, and I'm not taking a swing for defences, right
with getting somebody who is that talented. I don't have
an issue with that. I really don't. This was like
a stretch. I know they gave up a lot of
picks and all that they did, But but picks, that's fine.
Here's a guy who could be a game changer, right.
(09:10):
He helped Colorado turn it around, didn't he do?
Speaker 4 (09:13):
What? Ever, he's a big part of that.
Speaker 1 (09:14):
Was the best high school football player coming out both ways.
He was the best player in college football literally at
Jackson State. And that's a small as we see you
then go to Colorado Heisman like everywhere he goes, he's
just a man child like he Oh, he's the best
player anybody we've talked to. Oh no, no, no, I know
there's this person.
Speaker 4 (09:32):
I know. No, No, he's gonna be the best.
Speaker 1 (09:34):
They said he could be in the best defensive back
if he was only play dB or obviously the best receiver.
So you gotta go get that type of guy to
help shore Trevor Lawrence. And you still have multiple picks
left throughout the draft to get the other things you
may need. And listen, you just mentioned the draft picks.
They gave up one of the things. We know, draft
picks will come and go.
Speaker 4 (09:52):
Right.
Speaker 1 (09:52):
The Rams have have been in a multitude of Super
Bowls and you know, obviously they won one, and they said,
remember famously, blake ain't blake them picks, right.
Speaker 3 (10:01):
Yeah, because picks, I mean they they do sometimes you
can you know, trade them back and find out. Okay,
we gave up on that, but if you can ultimately win,
which is what you're trying to do, picks just on
that important. I remember when you can get him back too.
And Danny Ainge remember me, you start poll exactly and
they never won with with with all that now, they
won later, but they didn't win when they had all started.
Speaker 1 (10:22):
Yeah, they started to make some moves and and and realize,
you know, picks are great, but also so is Travis
Hunter projected to be right, and so is the way
you feel about Travor Trevor Lawrence based off what you're
paying them. And now again you have and again you
have more draft picks to be made, more moves to
be made too. You never know, you might be able
to trade a couple of uh uh, pick up some
moves and pick up some veteran players as well. But
(10:44):
Travis Hunter seeds by all accounts, to be special. You
put special with Trevor Lawrence so you can finally say, hey, bro,
there's no more excuses. No, no, you got your you
got rightbody saying we have to be fifteen and two,
but we need to see you take three steps forward,
not a step three step forwards. You've got a guy
in Brian Thomas Junior. You got now, Travis Hunter, you
(11:06):
got eatn you got some other pieces on the offensive end.
We'll try to get some more offensive line help. And
you know, but all right now, I'm gonna eas you
to be the Trevor Lawrence we thought when we were
giving you forty five fifty million dollars.
Speaker 3 (11:17):
A year eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven,
seven nine nine, six sixty three sixty nine, Where are
you Do you like this move? Will Travis Hunter be
able to help Trevor Lawrence and the Jags? Did they
give up too much? Just your whole idea, your thought
about this? Was it aggressive? Too aggressive? Was it aggressive?
(11:38):
Where you like it? Because I liked it? Yeah, I
got no issues with it. I'm not saying that they're
gonna win something next week or whatever, but I got
something special the same. You have a talent. There's no
doubt about it, all right, eight seven, seven ninety nine
on Fox, It is The Couple, Rob Parker Kelvin Washington

You can say I'm coming home. I'm coming home.
Speaker 1 (12:49):
Travis Hunter getting ready to go back to Florida where
he's from. He's excited about that. There's a video of
him coming out of high school. Happened to be in
the stadium or the Jacks play and he's like, man,
I would love to be drafted here. You know, sometimes
in life you get that and here he is. He
is back there. You like this move? Gave it up
a lot of picks to get it. Do you maybe
think that was a bad move for the Jacks? Eight seven,
(13:09):
seven ninety nine on Fox So we got let's do it?
Phil in Arizona, you're on the odd couple of Fox
Sports Radio. What's up Phil?
Speaker 5 (13:17):
Much?
Speaker 6 (13:18):
How you guys doing? Okay?
Speaker 1 (13:21):
Well?
Speaker 6 (13:21):
I just called in because I mean I think it.
I hate to move for Travis Hunter going to Jacksonville
because that franchises. That franchise is a joke. I mean,
the owners once until they get the cons out of
there that franchise is going nowhere.
Speaker 4 (13:35):
Well, I hear you on that. But people said that,
and that's why.
Speaker 1 (13:38):
I brought up the AFC title, I mean championship game.
Speaker 4 (13:42):
Yeah, I brought up no, no, no.
Speaker 3 (13:43):
I brought up the Bengals like Brown and now remember
they couldn't win a playoff game and Joe Burrow went there,
took him to the Super Bowl. Some people didn't want
him to go there. They thought the same thing though,
I mean, Angles have a bad owner, you know what
I mean, they can't win.
Speaker 1 (13:57):
I mean the Lions, you were there for so long.
We're a bad team for decades, and no on they
looked like they're kind of steering in the right direction.
So it can I can't. You're right, we'll get We'll
get there in August Septeber. Sorry, we'll get back there
will So my point is, you can be bad, but
if you get the right players, it can change the
direction and all of a sudden make you look smart.
Speaker 4 (14:18):
Vincent in Orlando, you're on the couple of Fox Sports Rado.
What's up, Vincent?
Speaker 7 (14:23):
Hey, I'm doing great, guys. I think it was a
great move by the Jaguars. He'll definitely put fans in
the fens and reset the organization. Uh, they just got
a new coach, new GM and my ceiling. I think
if Shador is still there at the top of the
third round, he got the sixth picks, they should grab
him in. Uh, maybe trade Trevor Lawrence. That ain't happen
(14:44):
some more uh, some more people to fill out the rosters.
Speaker 4 (14:48):
You think that's happening. They ain't sending They ain't send
him up out of there.
Speaker 1 (14:54):
And in fact, this was a move to little him up,
to show him up, to say, hey, brou we got
you everything you need. We drafted a great rookie last year,
the best player. Hire draft any position now again get
it together.
Speaker 4 (15:06):
That wouldn't make sense, and then okay, we do that
and then go get a rookie quarterback. All right?
Speaker 3 (15:10):
Really okay, Andre in Massachusetts, you're on the odd couple
of Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 4 (15:17):
What's up? Dray?
Speaker 5 (15:19):
Hey yea, how you doing?
Speaker 8 (15:20):
Thanks for taking the call? Listen draft and Chador would
be good to pair him with Travis Hunter, so he
has a guy that he knows. But Shador would clearly
be the backup to Trevor Lawrence and would have to
learn and grow you know, and build up and develop
Trevor Chador, you know, And that's the kind of a
current narrative. You know, he's a talented guy, he's the
NFL player, But Trevor Lawrence is a super nova. And
that's why this is a good move because Travis Hunter,
(15:41):
in and of his own rights, is a supernova in
terms of what he can do on both sides of
the ball. The other thing I think is is and
you know you mentioned to Kelvin. You know what I'm saying,
he's from the Sunshine, Sunshine State. He wants to go home,
and he has a lot of good energy, good vibes,
enthusiasm that he can interject into your organization, into your organization,
into your fan base to fire people up. And he
can do it on both sides of the ball. That's
(16:03):
going to be, you know, a continual narrative. If you
want to play on both sides of the ball, they
should play him on both sides of the ball. But listen,
you know what I mean this, even though the NFL
right now is a two hand touch league and all
this flag football, you can't hit people like you once did.
There's no way that anybody can play over one hundred
snaps consistently in the NFL and have longevity. Okay, so
he's going to have to learn how to pick and
(16:23):
you can do it, Travis Hunter. Okay, but focus on
one side of the ball and then make a contribution
on the other side of the ball, you know, and
do it in a way that's smart, and I think
that he can be successful. So I like it for
Jackson Bill because they're an upstart franchise and they need
a spark. They need somebody to rally them, and he's
one hundred percent that person, both on the field in
terms of what he can do, but then off the field,
(16:44):
how he can just bring those good vibes to your organization.
Speaker 3 (16:50):
I want to ask you a question, how surprised are
you with shaudor that the picks just keep going by?
Speaker 4 (16:55):
At the pick forty nine, is that where we are?
Speaker 1 (16:57):
Yes, we are, and the Bengals are about to pick
right now, Dre. Were you picking Shador in the first round?
Where'd you have him?
Speaker 5 (17:06):
No?
Speaker 4 (17:06):
I don't.
Speaker 8 (17:06):
I don't believe Shador Sanders. He's not an elite, top
level court and this isn't a quarterback draft. I keep
saying it. Next year is the year for quarterbacks. This
isn't this isn't about the quarterback this year. And for
sha door from me to him, I would use all
of this because you are an NFL player. You are
getting slighted right now. You do have a big ego,
you know, don't let this put you on a slippery
slope and to come into NFL with bad energy and bitterness.
(17:29):
Use this to motivate you. He's gonna have to work
his way into an NFL role.
Speaker 5 (17:33):
He's not his father, so this is good for.
Speaker 8 (17:35):
Him to just give him the motivation to build himself
up so he can have consistency and longevity. That's how
I feel about it. You get drafted second, third round,
where you know he's not Tom Brady, but Tom Brady's
draft in the sixth round, and he used that to
be great. So that's how I was framing it. From Shador,
thanks taking the call, no.
Speaker 1 (17:51):
Doubt appreciate Yeah, I mean we're going back, you know
for the first hour.
Speaker 4 (17:56):
For those who just gonna say, for those who missed it, listen.
Speaker 1 (17:59):
Is the worst to happen in Shador Sander's life is
that instead of being the first round, he ends up
being you know, we.
Speaker 4 (18:04):
Still have to pick sex, he said.
Speaker 3 (18:06):
If Seattle doesn't pick him, he says, he's not getting
picked in the first second.
Speaker 4 (18:10):
I mean, yeah, Seattle definitely could use a backup.
Speaker 1 (18:13):
Obviously, they got your favorite quarterback in Sam McDonald's as
you like to call him, Ronald McDonald, Ronald McDonald.
Speaker 4 (18:21):
I'm sorry.
Speaker 1 (18:23):
My point, but my point was, if the worst thing
that happens, he's ended up being like right now, let's
say they did draft him, he'd be the fiftieth picking
the draft for for his end up being you know,
some other draft pick in the second round.
Speaker 4 (18:33):
Dude, you'll be fine. Now? Is it? Is it upsetting?
Is it? It's somewhat confusing? Justifiably?
Speaker 1 (18:39):
So I think I can understand why he probably went
most of this year thinking.
Speaker 4 (18:43):
Ways at his house today.
Speaker 1 (18:44):
No, no, I haven't either, at least round anyway. Well
for him, he's so big, I could, you know, but
I don't know. Maybe live is he going live right now?
Speaker 3 (18:54):
But I'd be like, no, don't don't bring any cameras here,
you know what I mean?
Speaker 1 (18:57):
Like, I know you say that because ninety seven point
nine percent of people will do that, but Sanders family
one thousand percent have a camera there, because.
Speaker 4 (19:07):
Either way it's Brian. Baby.
Speaker 1 (19:08):
Let me tell you something. We go through adversity, we
bounce back, baby, you know what I mean. You turn
this into now it's that. Now, it's let me show
you how we bounce back. He's a Sanders boy, and
you turn it into that like, we didn't get drafted.
We don't cower, we don't we ain't scared to be
work our way up from the mud.
Speaker 4 (19:25):
So either way, the Sanders are recording you know that.
Speaker 1 (19:27):
Yeah, you're right, come on, but I'm saying not live,
I mean, because that's just that's literally all he's ever
known to do is like, we're gonna make something of this.
This is content. They are coe over there, but content
over everything.
Speaker 4 (19:41):
But you know it ain't feeling good.
Speaker 3 (19:44):
No, like like because you thought, okay, it'll be the
second round and Cleveland had those early.
Speaker 1 (19:48):
Pigs and when Tyler got shuck get you're like, all right, Cam,
I get it, like dark you might even been all right,
I'm I feel better than him, but you know I
heard his name. Now it's getting offensive. If you're him,
I'm not saying it is it is offensive. But if
you're Schador Centers absolutely you feel slighted, you feel offended,
(20:12):
and you're like, nah, okay, I'm gonna show him now. Now,
I'm absolutely gonna show them one thousand percent he's doing that.
Speaker 2 (20:18):

Speaker 1 (20:30):
But Elijah Arroyo, who just got dressed out to him
because while I know we're talking about you know, uh,
who is that?
Speaker 4 (20:37):
Who is that? Never heard of it?
Speaker 1 (20:39):
But we also got to be you know, give a
lot of love to these players who can draft because
I know they gouta say, hey, what about my moment?
Speaker 4 (20:44):
You know what I mean.
Speaker 1 (20:45):
Corey Chaves, former NFL dB Draft Nastymagazine dot Com is
with your boys right now, the Eye Couple Robin Kelvin
on a funky flashback Friday. Corey, I know you gotta
feel me on that, like, well, we're gonna course ask
you about shador and and Travis Hunter and all that,
but you do want to send some love to the
other guys who are getting drafted because this is the
greatest day of their lives thus far. You know what,
(21:06):
I mean it's an exciting moment for themselves and their families.
Speaker 4 (21:09):
Right.
Speaker 5 (21:10):
No, absolutely, the guy you gots just thanks Lo for
having me. But the guy you guys just mentioned, he
was catching passes on cam Ward and overcame two injuries,
and we even spotlighted him a little bit talking about
how hard it was to make it back from those injuries.
Think he only had eleven catches or something like that
going into this year. Turns it around on the Ward
(21:31):
and all of a sudden becomes the second round pick
Siddia doverall to the t Off. So that just those
types of stories reverberate throughout the draft.
Speaker 3 (21:39):
How about the Shouldul How surprised do you? Did you
have them in your mock draft in the first round?
Speaker 4 (21:45):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (21:45):
Yeah, I had him in a my draft going to
New Orleans in the first round. But I think they
got their quarterback. They got Tyler Shuck in the second round,
who's probably the most talented or one of the more
talented quarterbacks in the class. So that was the preference
with Kellen Moore, and I think that that's how they're
going to try to get things started down in New Orleans.
Speaker 4 (22:02):
Well, he didn't get picked by the panthersy. He didn't
get no. I just want to ask.
Speaker 3 (22:06):
You, you know a lot of people are making the
reasons why they're trying to put him in his place.
He's too brash and too cocky. Can we just have
any evaluation how good really is she?
Speaker 5 (22:18):
Do?
Speaker 3 (22:18):
I know you had him in the first round, but
there were other people who just said no, I didn't.
Speaker 5 (22:22):
I didn't in terms of like where I predicted him
into my draft. That doesn't have anything to do with
the rankers. I would think that he would add a
second round grade two point two to three for much,
but I think a lot of second round grades get
pushed up into the first round. Quarterback is more I
think on a on a knee basis. So that's why
you've had a Kenny Pickett going in the first round.
(22:42):
And what you've seen over the years is you push
some of those guys up and have some of the talent,
like even a Mitchell Trubisky.
Speaker 1 (22:50):
All right, Corey Chavis, our guest, former NFL dB Draft
Nastymagazine dot com. You know that one of the things
I mentioned, I look at somewhere like Cleveland, going to
Mason Graham there from Michigan and you know, you got
Miles Garrett. They even drafted on the second round as well.
They're going real big on defense. Do you think part
of what happened is happening with you do? Or is
(23:10):
that one a lot of teams just hey, we just
don't need a quarterback. Not saying we got Patrick Mahomes
or Tom Brady or anything like that, but we just
don't need a quarterback because it seems like a lot
of teams are focusing on each side of the ball,
like we're gonna shore up our defense if you're Cleveland
and be absolutely dominant on that side of the ball,
so at least we can hang our hat there.
Speaker 4 (23:29):
Are you seeing that as well?
Speaker 5 (23:32):
Well? I think they had a plan. I think Andrew
Barrier he's done an next one job. Not only did
he get the pick that he wanted, but he was
able to come back and get a first round pick
the next year, and they maneuver before the draft actually
get some more draft capital as well. And I think
that the quarterbacks have going you know, in terms of
the teams that they wanted them, they've gone up and
been aggressive to go get them. The Giants traded their
(23:55):
second round pick the third round pick, and then they
trade another third round pick for two thousand, twenty six
to go up and get Dark. We had him taking
Dark in the second round thirty fourth. Overall, they decided
we're not gonna wait around for somebody else to take them,
and they were thinking about the Rams potentially warning him
at twenty six, so they move up ahead of the
Rams at twenty five. So I think teams have been
(24:16):
aggressive when it comes to the quarterback. In terms of
your question about the Browns, I think they're trying to
build up draft capital and they're building their team in
a physical manner. For that, AFC North makes.
Speaker 3 (24:28):
Sense, Yeah, Travishno, of course, Jaguars made a big trade
to move up grab them. Well do you like that
fit getting Trevor Lawrence another big time player and he's
gonna play a little bit on defense as well.
Speaker 4 (24:41):
You like that? To Jacksonville.
Speaker 5 (24:44):
I think Jacksonville is gonna be very aggressive about defensively,
trying to create turnovers. And I think the other day
that Jacksonville got to concentrate on his making sure they're
gonna be able to stop the run. They were very
leaky on that side of the football last year. Defensively,
you can get all the weapons you want to Offensively,
the focus with Jacksonville has to be in this draft
(25:04):
to come out with some impactful players there. I think
they only had maybe like six interceptions last year for
the year or something like that. They've got to do
a better job. I think of not only creating turnovers,
but getting people in the third and long situations.
Speaker 4 (25:18):
When we look at.
Speaker 1 (25:19):
Some more of the things that happened, I look at
it like, right now, that's showing Cam War but looks
like it was obviously from yesterday. I go to somebody
that Cambell what we knew he was going to be
the number one pick, But what are they getting in
a Cam War like, tell us a little bit more
about him, because it was almost to the point, yeah yeah, yeah,
Cam wore number one.
Speaker 4 (25:36):
Number one. Well, he's number one for a reason.
Speaker 1 (25:39):
Tell us more why people drafted were so high on him.
Speaker 5 (25:43):
I think he loves football. I think Henry obviously that
without questioning. One of the big things for him is
he's big on the process of his films that he
talks about that quite a bit. But I also think
that he's improved his pocket presence. Even though you've seen
those spectacular plays out on the movie. He said the
Internet word a couple of years back before he ended
(26:06):
up moving on to Washington. They had a major problem
that year. He drew the forty seven touchdowns with fumbles,
lost a lot of fummos during that year, he said,
And that's still something he's gonna have to correct. Even
when I went to go watch him play this year
at a fumble at Virginia Tech game. Early but he
has improved that. The sack totals dropped tremendously. He can
make all the different throws, and he can make them
from angles that you wouldn't even expect, rolling to his
(26:28):
left and make those throws accurately. Now, a lot of
the problems that he had to pull them out of
this year, he got them into. So I think he's
just gonna have to be more focused on early in
games dialing in as opposed to, you know, having those
stretches where he asked the leader come back.
Speaker 1 (26:48):
Yeah, I mean, I definitely I am excited to see
him because I think about the fact that he wasn't
highly recruited coming out of high school, like top number
one quarterbacks usually are, you know, usually we know about them,
We heard about them, and that wasn't the case.
Speaker 4 (27:01):
He had to get it from the mud.
Speaker 3 (27:03):
He did.
Speaker 5 (27:03):
And one thing about him in basketball, you watch him
in basketball in high school very you saw some of that.
That lessens and kind of wonder how somebody from Texas
gets overlooked. Was not hard. There's so many recruits in
that state. You can't get everybody, and he ends up
having a start off where he does. But he certainly
made it work out, and you're right, he did take
(27:24):
the long road and did it very successfully.
Speaker 3 (27:27):
Anybody out there, we should still that's out there on
the board that somebody could grab. We should be paying
not we think that ship has sailed for the second round.
Speaker 5 (27:40):
Yeah, well I don't think. I don't know if I've
maybe missed a couple of pigs. We're gonna have to
be interested to see where Mike Green ends up. I
think Darius Alexander somebody that that's very fascinating. Aside from
the Will Johnson drop, he ended up going forty seven.
You had a lot of corners that I felt like
we had started potentially. They also had injuries. Aside from
Will Johnson, shavarn Ravel junior from ECU hasn't gone yet.
(28:03):
I actually haven't even seen Trey Amost go yet. So
those are guys with potential starting capability. Jack Besh the
singer Bowl MVP, he's somebody too that you're interested to see,
like where he lands, you know, with the story of
him losing his brother, reverberating it as well, but eggable player. So,
I mean, there's so many prospects. We don't have time,
(28:24):
but I think there's a lot of good players left
and this is a very very deep draft.
Speaker 4 (28:29):
I do have one other question.
Speaker 3 (28:31):
Is it possible that your door does not get drafted
at all? That's not possible.
Speaker 5 (28:35):
Oh no, I don't think. I don't think that that's
the case. This is a matter now, Rob, I think
a matter of how much are you willing to have
him in the room as the backup presence. I think
that was kind of largely what happened with Cam Newton.
That's to some degree that presence of him been there
because regardless of what we want to say, he's got commercials.
(28:58):
He's a different type of presence coming into the room.
But I think the hits smart, the fact that he's
so studious. That's the job of a backup quarterback to
help the start to prepare. I don't think that would
necessarily be a negative with how his high football are Q.
So I hopefully for him it doesn't work in reverse,
(29:20):
because I think he can assist the starter in getting
ready for Sunday afternoons.
Speaker 1 (29:25):
All right, well, we're gonna be waiting to see. Literally,
we're all sitting here waiting to see.
Speaker 5 (29:30):
We'll keep eye wise, y'all. Y'all gotta be kidding me, Okay.
Speaker 4 (29:34):
Corey, Corey, hold on, see here's the thing, Corey.
Speaker 1 (29:36):
See Corey, let me tell you, Corey your draft Nasty
Magazine dot com. This is what you do, Corey. The
rest of us we keep a little eye out. We're watching.
We ain't got nothing else. There's no storyline. It is
button neckade when it comes to storyline, Corey, I'm making
up stuff right now like people sooner.
Speaker 5 (29:50):
That's cool, man, But I think, why no, I can't
say that. I heard y'all talking from baseball back there.
So there's some other stuff going on. A NBA playoffs.
Know that last night at home and we lost one
eighteen to one sixteen. Oh, Detroit broke barn.
Speaker 4 (30:07):
They're not winning that series.
Speaker 5 (30:08):
Stop.
Speaker 4 (30:09):
Whoa, whoa, whoa Corey talk Corey how winching Corey not
winning that series? But you don't know.
Speaker 1 (30:13):
Corey is Rob and I have a pair of Jordan's
bet on the nixt pistons.
Speaker 4 (30:18):
I'm from Michigan, so we're gonna win the series. You
want to get Corey, you want to get on this
Jordan's batto?
Speaker 5 (30:24):
Oh yeah, absolutely, and I'll give you. I'll give you
the old cot the red, White and black. I don't
know if y'all taking that from that?
Speaker 3 (30:32):
No, no, no, I get to pick what I want to me,
I meaning I could win, you could win that.
Speaker 4 (30:40):
I get to pick. All right, Corey, I'm gon went On,
I'm the Pooh Poop Kings.
Speaker 5 (30:46):
Make sure that y'all. I'm totally in on that. We
won the season series and we're gonna win this series. Boy,
we did get up. We were really Game one was
worse because we were up by ten with six minutes
to go.
Speaker 1 (30:58):
Was that one was the one that heard last night
was more frustrating because you kind of felt like you
could have stolen it back.
Speaker 4 (31:04):
But one was worse.
Speaker 1 (31:06):
But they had to learn, they had to, you know,
Fiel with the playoffs feel like, all right, thank you,
Corey Man, appreciate it.
Speaker 5 (31:11):
Thanks a love, I appreciate.
Speaker 4 (31:13):
Hey, he's not lying.
Speaker 1 (31:14):

Game three Lakers Timberwolves one to one a piece. Lakers
(32:33):
were blowing out the timber Wolves ended up being a
closer game than the Lakers would have liked. In Game two,
but Luca goes crazy and puts up a bunch of
pointis averaging I think thirty one in between the first
two games of this series. How do you feel big win?
Big must win for the Lakers to establish their dominance
in this series. Can they go down too to one
(32:53):
to the young upstar Timberwolves.
Speaker 3 (32:57):
To me, this is the biggest game in the series,
like for real, I really do, because the Timberwolves got
the first win. They come home. If they can win
this game they put in, they put themselves in a
great spot. And I don't I'm not saying that the
Lakers couldn't win the series, but they need it more
than the Lakers.
Speaker 4 (33:15):
They really need if they want.
Speaker 3 (33:17):
To to me, the Timberwolves, yeah, they need it, you know,
like coming home, you know, you gotta split no matter what.
Uh and and you can play, you know and throw
it all against the win in game four of the series,
whereas if you lose, you're on your you know what
I mean.
Speaker 4 (33:36):
Like the Lakers have done what they wanted to do.
Speaker 3 (33:38):
They got back home court, and now the Timberwolves are
on their heels at home because they know that they
can't lose it.
Speaker 4 (33:45):
They could go back to LA and get closed out,
you know what I'm saying. Guess why this game is
big for the Timberwolves to me.
Speaker 1 (33:51):
And the Lakers are obviously favorite, But I'm gonna tell
you why. I think it's the Lakers and everything you
just said, Actually I feel you on that. But the
reason why is the Lakers to me, rob a couple
of things. One, the Lakers can't be happy the way
they ended that game Game two.
Speaker 4 (34:03):
That's fair that you don't.
Speaker 1 (34:04):
Want to come out and then have a stinker and
you mess around and lose. And so even though you
won Game two, the Timberwolves can say, hey, and three
of these you know, two of these three games, we
were the better. Matter of fact, they can say in
all three of these games, even though we lost game two,
we ended up feeling better about how we played. You
don't want that. So they had momentum ending and closing
game two. They being the Timberwolves, you don't want to
(34:26):
have that carry over the Game three and they mess
around and get a win, not that your season the
series is over. But if you're the Lakers, no, let's
just go ahead, put our foot on their throat. We
don't want to give them life. We want to say,
you saw how we played most of that game. That's
how we're gonna play. That's how we're gonna dominate the series.
And also one of the key cogs in your game plan,
one of the best players on your team who's gonna
(34:47):
be important going down the stretch is forty one. And
if I can end series as soon as possible, if
I can end series, even if it's blow them out
by by the third quarters, to Lebron gets to sit,
I gotta do that. You know, Luca's still getting better
and back in shaping and health. He came from a
you know, serious injury. Lebron is forty something years old.
(35:09):
I gotta try to knock people out as soon as possible.
I don't have time for hard fought, six game, seven
game series. So to me, if you're the Lakers and
you got a shot to Luca to go nuclear, Lebron
to play well, reeves the bench, hitting some threes, playing
some defense, put this thing over and be up to
to one and then on your way to maybe winning
in five six max. You gotta do that because you
(35:33):
cannot afford to make this a hard fought six to
seven game series when you didn't have to because next series,
next round might be another six hard seven. You get
what I'm saying. If your aspirations are the finals, you
gotta try to do it.
Speaker 3 (35:44):
Let's let's be honest to I mean, the Timberwolves had
a chance to go to the finals last year.
Speaker 1 (35:49):
No, no, I know, but that's what I'm saying. If
you get a shot, don't play around.
Speaker 3 (35:52):
Right, That's what I'm saying, because if they do, especially
when you steal game one on the road like that,
you know you have a bit of confidence. I didn't
think they were gonna win Game two, just I just
didn't believe the Lakers gonna go go down oh two
going back to Minnesota like that would have really, you
gotta win four out of five, your season would have
been over.
Speaker 4 (36:11):
Just about as close as you can be saying it's over.
I mean, that's just the math.
Speaker 1 (36:14):
I think it's seventy four percent of teams that win
Game three, Yeah, going to win this series, which sounds
crazy because like somebody's gotta win it. You know, it's not.
It doesn't, but that is a crazy number. Uh there.
So we'll see how that goes. I will tell you what.
Right now, we've got a good one going Orlando, sixty
nine to sixty three halfway in the first half of
(36:35):
the third quarter. Here you did pick Orlando, you said it.
They're fighting like ay for the lies. Absolutely. What about
the Steelers in the draft? Will tell you Fox Sports
Radio
