Speaker 1 (01:27):
Don't forget uh last calls coming up as well, in
case you missed out on some of the other topics
we're talking about, and a couple of things that's going around.
Speaker 3 (01:37):
Good baseball game.
Speaker 1 (01:39):
Six four to Cleveland. The Knicks are losing to Detroit
sixty two fifty three.
Speaker 3 (01:47):
So weird call. They're looking at his relat seven minutes
to go. What is it? Pistons got to steal in
a fast break?
Speaker 4 (01:53):
K throws an aliyu to sure Thompson and he gets
Figus undercut and he just tips it in in the air.
But they're like reviewing, have the file ever? Is it
a clear path file? Is it a you'll see it?
I guess because technically he was ahead of the player.
Like this is a weird like it's usually just a given, Like, Okay,
he got filed, he made the basket, but they're saying,
was it a clear path even though he already jumped this.
(02:13):
It's a weird call, you know, us watching the TV
with no volumes, I don't understand what that.
Speaker 3 (02:18):
I don't know what the what they're looking at them like.
Speaker 4 (02:20):
Okay, boom, file layup and one, what's the big deal?
A good game there? Though, Yeah, we got some some
NBA action got the the Clippers coming up a little later,
Nuggets as well.
Speaker 1 (02:29):
Yeah, so a lot of action on this Monday night,
NBA playoffs or underway, and probably of we talked about
with Eddie Howse. Yeah, all the games that we got
to see over the weekend. I mean it was hard
not to look at that Okac score, see that they
(02:50):
won by what fifty one? It didn't even look real
and not say, oh my goodness, like like like, okay,
we've been talking about him. People have been it's counting them,
picking everybody but their uncle to get to the NBA
Finals and not them. Because while the two Eddie House
brought it up earlier as well defensively across the board,
(03:11):
they've been all year, all year.
Speaker 3 (03:13):
This is not new hat, this is not new.
Speaker 1 (03:16):
This is this is real, Like like stop saying it
ain't real.
Speaker 3 (03:25):
It's real.
Speaker 1 (03:27):
And they didn't play around with Memphis, did they? Did
they play around with Memphis?
Speaker 2 (03:34):
No? They did not.
Speaker 4 (03:36):
I mean I looked at the score, was confused at
the first quarter, so I was like, wait, what am
I looking at?
Speaker 3 (03:41):
Like is this real?
Speaker 1 (03:42):
And that is a statement game. I don't get anybody says, right,
that's a statement game. Hello, look at us. We're loud,
we're proud, we're not playing around. We are are that good?
We are that good?
Speaker 3 (04:03):
I think, uh, what'd you come away with?
Speaker 4 (04:05):
Because I was in bus I think sometimes things are
so obvious to sitting in your face and you still go, Nah,
that can't be it. Okay, see all year long, and
it started last year when they were good and we
were like, oh, they're too young to to this, chet
it and healthy, blah blah blah.
Speaker 3 (04:21):
They'll be this, they'll be that.
Speaker 4 (04:23):
And they got knocked out of the playoffs and then
that could have been their bumps and bruises and lumps
that all they needed.
Speaker 3 (04:28):
We went through it. We got it.
Speaker 4 (04:29):
We have an MVP candidate, probably gonna be MVP three
years in a row of averaging thirty plus. Only person
to do that in shoot fifty percent. Michael Jordan has
some great company to be in. And so all of
a sudden, it's kind of like, well, you guys tell
me defense wins championships. Okay, check, you guys tell me
you got to have one of the best players on
your team usually to win. Okay, check, got an MVP
(04:51):
Kennyate likely MVP. You know, we're energetic. You tell me
you gotta have a bench, you gotta be able to play,
you know, eight nine, ten deep? Okay, check and I
think that is And you got an a potential soon
to be defensive player in the year. And check homegram
who will be a defensive player of the year at
some point. He plays that great and you I'm just
sitting here thinking to all of it, including myself, Is
(05:14):
it just that obviously we're just trying to find something else?
Speaker 3 (05:17):
That's why I think we are. I mean, I just
don't like him.
Speaker 4 (05:20):
They don't have enough many you know names we know
or this, they don't have superstars s g A. That's it.
Is it just because they were judging them because it's
Oklahoma City. It's not Chicago, New York, LA.
Speaker 1 (05:29):
And it's not Oklahoma City with hardened West Westbrook. That
that one we could buy into it. Man to the finals,
you go, oh, man, look at it. When we knew
they were young. And if there's not a foul in that,
what was the game too or whatever at the end
of urrant got fouled wasn't called.
Speaker 4 (05:45):
Uh, maybe it's a difference. Maybe maybe we didn't think
we are or if Harden sticks around, maybe.
Speaker 1 (05:52):
It'd be right. But but it didn't happen. But we
were more apt to see that and look at it
because you knew Kevin Durant was already like and be
one of those players and then the other two guys.
Harden was fantastic off the bench, if you remember.
Speaker 4 (06:05):
Not in the final, the finals, but the rest of
the way he and that's where the whole hard in
the playoffs becomes.
Speaker 1 (06:11):
Like because because he was tremendous, like he was leading
up to the final, man, who was this dude exactly?
Speaker 3 (06:17):
That's exactly. I remember, like one of my wife is
he on the bench because he was off the year?
Speaker 1 (06:26):
But but now you know, I think there comes a
point where you have to just be like stop, stop
looking for excuses not to like Okay c or not
to buy in. And I'm not saying they won the
NBA Finals by beating Memphis by fifty one.
Speaker 3 (06:45):
I thought what we were saying, well, why can't it be Okay?
Speaker 1 (06:49):
See why they've They've done nothing for us to believe
that it can't be.
Speaker 3 (06:54):
Why can't okay se come out of the West?
Speaker 1 (06:58):
You beginve me the I want somebody tell me, what
other than just saying, oh, well, they don't have enough experience.
Speaker 3 (07:03):
Other than that, what do.
Speaker 1 (07:04):
You have when you look at it affrontively? It's not
an issue. Offensively is not an issue. What is it?
It's the big coach word issue. Nope, he's to have
a really good coach. It's the e word experience. The
only thing why I will knock what we typically say.
Speaker 4 (07:21):
Typically we say you got to go through the bumps
to bruises, you got to go through your lumps.
Speaker 3 (07:25):
And I agree with that.
Speaker 4 (07:26):
Here's the difference, rob The difference is when you let's
go back to the eighties Celtics, they had to get
through the doctor JS the seventy six ers. We don't
talk about those seventy six ers teams enough. In the
eighties Celtics had to beat them up, they had to
get roughed up both they went back and forth. Then
they started to become the team in the East. Then
the Pistons had to beat up, finally beat the Celtics
after taking their lumps, their bruises. Barren Sales the ball
(07:49):
and we had to go through all that. Then the
Chicago Bulls had to get through the Pistons. Well, the difference.
I think why okay See is probably saying, hello, who
do we have to get through? This isn't twenty fifteen, sixteen, seventeen,
eighteen nineteen Warriors. You get what I mean. There's no
team that they have to get through. Denver is not
(08:09):
the Denver of old. The Lakers aren't walking around with
Ad and Lebron in the bubble. So I think one
thing we keep saying, I'm including myself is all. But
they gotta go through the bumps and bruises. They gotta
get their lumps. But Okayse is saying from who their
margin of victory throughout the season was like I think
ten ten points or something.
Speaker 3 (08:28):
They were they were destroying people.
Speaker 4 (08:30):
They won sixty eight games and rob when you start
to look at the teams historically have won sixty eight
games or more, well, it bowls well for them. You
go all the way back to the seventy two seventy
three Celtics. They lost in the Eastern Conference finals. At
least they made it to the East CONVERERCE finals. But
after that sixty six sixty seven seventy sixty won the finals.
Speaker 3 (08:49):
Ninety six ninety seven Bulls. We know what they did
won the finals.
Speaker 4 (08:52):
By the way, ninety five ninety six Bulls won seventy
two games, won the finals, seventy one seventy two Lakers
won the finals, and the only one is Golden State
warri And they got to the finals and lost in seven.
Speaker 1 (09:02):
Games up three to one and had a major chokeren
so they should have won the finals.
Speaker 4 (09:07):
So on paper, everything says great defense won sixty eight games. Historically,
that means typically you go to the finals and win it.
Got an MVP candidate, blew everybody out all season long.
There is no bohemoth in the Western Conference. We got
to get through. There's no Old Warriors team, no Denver,
no you know, Kobe Shaq, Lakers. Why can't it be us?
And I think that's how they feel and justifiably so.
Speaker 1 (09:31):
It is amazing when you think about OKC and the
journey that they've been on, because it has been almost
from the word go and they just haven't let up.
At one point, people thought that they might get to
that plateau, will win seventy two or game like they
(09:52):
were really had a shot at making that happen, and
it didn't happen. But they are one of the best
teams we've seen in a while without a dea out.
And again that's why if you're them, you're sitting here
thinking what are they? You know, I think they're quiet, like,
all right, that's cool. And they've been a collective the
whole season.
Speaker 4 (10:10):
Sga wins the game forty some points and they go
to do the interview. He's got all of his teammates,
they're they're barking their dogs, they're all excited. They've just
been a great group. And I think this is what's
good for the league.
Speaker 3 (10:20):
You know what I mean.
Speaker 4 (10:21):
You got a budding star in Jalen Williams, got a
superstar in Sga. Chet looks like he's gonna be a really,
really good player in his league for the next seven
eight years long as he stays healthy. They got a
bunch of guys on their bench, and I think it's
good man. And again, I think it's good for the league.
That's why I was saying, when we had the conversation
last week, how do we feel about the state of
the NBA heading into the postseason. I was saying, if
(10:41):
you get these young member, I said this, you get
these young stars to show up, And Edwards showed up
looked great. Okay, see they did exactly what they were
supposed to do. And also you get a good mixture
of Steph having a great game and doing things like
this is kind of what you want, whereas a battle,
you know, fighting between the old garden and changing of
the are these young guys and okay, so you are saying, uh,
(11:03):
I know there were some literal college teams in March
Maddness that were older than us.
Speaker 3 (11:07):
Literally don't sleep on us. And I think, get out of.
Speaker 4 (11:10):
Your pajamas, get out the bed, lift off the eyemass thing,
and let's go, is what they're saying. Sorry, No, it's
it's hard to gotta respond. You can't get you can't
beat getting yours messed up.
Speaker 1 (11:26):
And I know it's a seven game series and we're
not crowning anybody after one game. They can lose and
they can lose the next game. But but but the
idea is just that.
Speaker 4 (11:36):
You said it from from wire to wired. They've just
been this good. They they've been this good.
Speaker 1 (11:40):
When you talk about them, just be honest, like they
they haven't been bad.
Speaker 3 (11:44):
They've been good, very good.
Speaker 1 (11:46):
And when somebody talks about defensively, that defense is what
that's effort you have.
Speaker 3 (11:52):
To put into that offense to right offense.
Speaker 1 (11:56):
Shots can come and fall, fall, and sometimes they don't
fall in your favor. All kinds of stuff can happen,
but you have to roll your sleeves up and really
want to play defensively and for a first game where.
Speaker 3 (12:07):
All this stuff and all this talk about.
Speaker 1 (12:09):
Okay, see, I was overly impressed to put that kind
of win in the books, all right, eight seven seven
ninety nine on Fox eight seven seven nine nine six
sixty three sixty nine.
Speaker 3 (12:22):
Did that game do anything for you as far as OKC.
Speaker 1 (12:24):
I think it did. Some people, law, are you like,
just ah, it's one game, you know what I mean.
I still got reservations about them. I still don't buy
into them totally. Or did you just say, Man, they
are really good and maybe they can make this run.
Speaker 3 (12:39):
Why not them? That's what I'm saying to myself. Why not?
Speaker 1 (12:44):
Because I think they have a real legitimate chance. It
is the odd couple on a Magic City Monday, Rob Parker,
Kelvin Washington, right here on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 3 (12:54):
You know what you need to do? Stick and stay.
I just set up a reservation at Red Lobster in

Speaker 3 (13:42):
Take us some calls.
Speaker 4 (13:44):
Okay, See, they've just been dominant all season long, and
now right into the postseason, first game they win by
fifty one points, destroying the Memphis Grizzlies. Maybe somebody can
say Memphis Grizzy retired. They had to play the playing
games and all that. Maybe jobs a little banged up
with that ankle. Are you buying up and just saying
this is what they've done all year? Or are you
saying I pumped the breaks a little bit? Eight seven
(14:04):
to seven ninety nine on Fox, we got Dion?
Speaker 1 (14:08):
Is this Dion in Texas? You're on the odd couple
of Fox Sports Radio?
Speaker 3 (14:11):
What's up?
Speaker 5 (14:12):
Deon?
Speaker 3 (14:12):
Hey?
Speaker 6 (14:12):
What's up? Guys? Deon for texts? That's correct? How you
doing rock?
Speaker 3 (14:16):
I'm good? How are you?
Speaker 6 (14:18):
How you doing count? Then?
Speaker 5 (14:20):
Hey, listen, guys.
Speaker 6 (14:22):
So let's pump the breaks. That was an impressive win,
but no one expect the eight seed to challenge Okay, see,
no matter who it was. And I'm gonna be honest
with you, Memphis been on the struggle bus. And also yes,
and John's a little banged up, so I don't want
to make any excuses. The bottom line is, Okay, S's
a great team, but let's see what they do in
(14:43):
the second and third rounds and things like that. I
honestly think if the Clippers get past Denver, I think
the Clippers might beat them.
Speaker 3 (14:52):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (14:52):
I'm just just saying we didn't crown them anything. It
just well, we're not crowning anybody off of one game.
Speaker 4 (14:58):
Yeah, let me ask you that if if I'm if
I'm SGA. He's sitting in on the Iye cuple one
day maybe he will be. And he's sitting there hanging out.
He said, but what more do you want? Like we've
destroyed people all here long, sixty eight wins, like I'm
the MVP number one defensive team, I'm checking.
Speaker 3 (15:14):
Out the box.
Speaker 1 (15:14):
And Memphis, like you just said, John's a little banged up,
Like that's what you do, you destroy.
Speaker 3 (15:19):
You didn't even let them. They didn't only win by ten, right,
you were like, no, you're not good enough.
Speaker 1 (15:25):
No matter you're mangled up, We're going to attack you
and beat you.
Speaker 6 (15:29):
Get them. My final point, I think those games one,
it's more important for the road team. I think it's
the gauge for the road team to shout out Minnesota.
They did they were supposed to do, and darn it,
Detroit put some doubt in the Knicks despite they won,
so there was no doubt in the man. I'm sorry
Tata for disrespecting Detroit. They might win tonight. So and
(15:50):
they look, they all played them two gangs straight, but
Memphis and play them in game one.
Speaker 3 (15:55):
They didn't have played except for that eight minutes.
Speaker 7 (15:58):
I'm sorry, you gotta remember when you when you.
Speaker 4 (16:00):
Give up on No, no, don't see, don't be waving
d don't let him say something that.
Speaker 1 (16:05):
Would you give up when you give up a twenty
twenty one old run in the playoffs?
Speaker 3 (16:10):
You ain't out playing. You can't say that.
Speaker 6 (16:12):
Yeah, but Memphis, okay, see, gave them no chance at all.
They can't beat those guys. So thanks, guys. I appreciate you, all.
Speaker 3 (16:20):
Right, I appreciate you. They that was ridiculous. Don't do
you doing play by play while you're doing the radio ridiculous? Whatever?
Speaker 4 (16:27):
If Judge at the home run right now, we will
lose you for three minutes.
Speaker 3 (16:30):
What are you talking about? They're not playing? I said,
if Judge you know, I'm like.
Speaker 2 (16:33):
You know what I mean?
Speaker 3 (16:34):
Rob, No, I don't know what you want. Hello, Why
I'm looking at the back of your head right now?
What what you're talking about? All right? Jay? In San Antonio,
you're in the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up? Jay?
Speaker 7 (16:45):
What's going on? Partners? I totally love the show man.
I totally disagree with my total Texans. I was saying
from week one, they gonna win the Chip. I was
saying from week one and I'm a Spurs fan. Mind
recognize real And I'm gonna tell you why, SGA. Man,
this guy he reminds me of Mark Macon back in Timple.
Speaker 3 (17:06):
Wow.
Speaker 4 (17:07):
Mark Making Making, Yeah, he was a real good player.
Speaker 3 (17:10):
I remember Mark Making.
Speaker 7 (17:11):
And Jordan and Kovid. They let the game come to them.
They never forced in the first quarter. They trying to
get their teammates involved. And the guy played seventy six
games out of eighty two. They beat teams by one
thousand and fifty five points the last that's the that's
the record in the NBA. The last four teams they
(17:32):
won the chips. So I totally disagree with my boy.
Speaker 1 (17:35):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's what that's so we're not crowning
them off of one game. But man, if you want
to talk about all this, what what they did, they
did what they were supposed to do.
Speaker 3 (17:45):
And let you know, men know we're balling. Yeah, we're
real deal. Like, don't discount us.
Speaker 4 (17:53):
I like that. You know you brought it up to love.
We talked about during the football season as well. Some
teams like it was those teams come in good, bad,
hurt and different. I'm going to beat you right period.
I don't care who you have. I don't care if
you're a bad team or good team. I know my schedule.
I can't control my schedule. I'm coming in to beat you.
And I liked it. Okay, se did that.
Speaker 3 (18:12):
It didn't. Well, we can take it easy.
Speaker 4 (18:14):
And maybe they're like I said, maybe with some of
these other teams, and you know, like I mentioned with
the Pistons tonight as we were talking about going in
this game, they're.
Speaker 3 (18:21):
Young, dumb and don't know.
Speaker 4 (18:22):
They're not supposed to be in this And I feel like,
OKAYC is like, yeah, why not. We feel like we're energized,
we're better than you. We got we're deep, got the MVP.
Our defense has been good all year. Why can't we
beat you?
Speaker 3 (18:32):
You know what?
Speaker 8 (18:33):
I mean?
Speaker 3 (18:33):
Why?
Speaker 7 (18:33):
What?
Speaker 3 (18:34):
What?
Speaker 4 (18:34):
Why we should beat You've been doing it all year?
And so I think and again my last point, I
think I said it earlier. There's no Bohemos standing in
their way.
Speaker 3 (18:44):
Rob.
Speaker 4 (18:44):
You know, there's there's no Warriors, there's no Shaqing Kobe,
the no.
Speaker 1 (18:48):
But people want to put the Lakers and the Wars
in that class.
Speaker 3 (18:51):
It's almost like.
Speaker 1 (18:52):
The the uh, the chief Chiefs.
Speaker 3 (18:55):
You know what I'm saying, like, like where people do well,
you know, I don't want to see what the chiefs
earn that the Lakers haven't earned that.
Speaker 1 (19:02):
No, but just because of the nation two gods, right,
I agree that the two guys and Luca and Lebron,
and I get when you talk about all time greats
and all that kind of stuff and where they're going
to be when their careers are both all over, But
that doesn't mean that they're here and now right now.
Speaker 4 (19:17):
Rod's forty something and the Lakers haven't been dominated for
last six seven years. They got a ring, and that's
a legitimate ring. Congrats to them, but they have it.
It's you know, it's not like they've been in the
finals three years in a row. So if I'm okay, see,
I say, why aren't we the ones you're looking at.
There's no other team in the West that just automatically
put over us. We deserve that, So they have the
right to feel that way.
Speaker 3 (19:37):
All right.
Speaker 4 (19:38):
More on the way, we have to have some conversations
about what Nico says speaking to Lakers about Luca.
Speaker 3 (19:44):
It just it's never ending.
Speaker 2 (19:46):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in

Speaker 4 (19:58):
So Nico Harrison has been obviously in the news for
quite some time with all of There's Luca and the trade
and keeps having to answer questions In an exit interview
basically ending the season for the MAVs, he had something
to say when I asked about Luca.
Speaker 3 (20:13):
Let's listen.
Speaker 5 (20:15):
I didn't know that Luca was important to the to
the fan base. I didn't quite know it to the
to what level. But really the way we looked at
it is, you know, if you're putting on the if
you're putting the team on the floor, that's Kyrie, Clay PJ,
Anthony Davis and Lively. We filled that's a championship caliber
team and we would have been winning at a high
(20:37):
level and that would have quieted some of the outrage.
Speaker 3 (20:40):
Uh And so.
Speaker 5 (20:41):
Unfortunately we weren't able to do that. So it just
continued to you know, go on and on.
Speaker 1 (20:48):
There comes a time when you should just just stop,
do you know what I mean? Like seriously, like just
stop with the just just you gotta stop. Like like
I get I get part of what he's saying, and
not that that Luca's been the five time first team
All NBA okay five times, so let's not act like, uh,
(21:08):
he wasn't a great player. He's an international star and
all that. But what I will say it has taken
on a life of its own. And that happened sometimes
in death, like somebody was like like popular, right, and
then all of a sudden he goes like to the stratosphere.
Speaker 4 (21:23):
If you would think Nmsey Hustle was the greatest rapper
of all time, he was phenomenal, had to you know,
he was a great human. Uh, But like the death
added to it as far as you know, the popularity.
I remember covering it and people were like, I didn't
know him until this.
Speaker 3 (21:37):
Right now and now and now all of a sudden,
do you understand what I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (21:40):
So and I'm not saying like nobody knew Luca he
wasn't a good player or whatever, but it it it
was so and I said this to you earlier, so shocking,
like so shocking of a trade. It was so shocking
when the news came out that most people, what did
(22:02):
they do? They didn't even believe the reports they had
the Sham's account has been hacked. There's no way did
this happen. It's an April fool's joke. What are you talking?
Speaker 3 (22:13):
You know what I mean?
Speaker 1 (22:14):
Like that, That's what it was like because nobody had
ever seen that, not a not a player twenty five
years old who would accomplished all these things being traded? Yeah, right,
And so that's what I think heighten this whole thing.
Not that they weren't all into Luca, because they were,
(22:34):
but this has pushed.
Speaker 3 (22:35):
Him over the top.
Speaker 1 (22:36):
It's not like Luca won a championship or took it
in three straight championships and you know, and then you'll
be like what you know what I mean?
Speaker 4 (22:44):
I think the issue I still it was still flabbergasting
for a couple of reasons. One, there was no First
of all, he's twenty five, that's the main part. He
wasn't thirty one, thirty two where we've seen twenty five
is so twenty five to be that good, And that's
why it's shocking the news trade because how young he is.
Second is because there was no inkling, like he hasn't
whispered about. I wouldn't mind playing somewhere he hasn't talked
(23:05):
about I don't really like being here and this and that,
and so it made all of us kind of like, whoa, wait,
where did that come from? He's closing on the house.
So that's what made it strange, was it was absolutely
out the bloem. And again we'll always be feeling like
maybe he could have got some more. But I go
back to Nico in this. If you felt, for whatever reasons,
you had to make this trade, which again I don't
agree with, but if that's what you felt like you
(23:26):
had to do, then fine. But at a certain point
you don't have to keep answering questions about it, like
move on, because now it continues to make you look incompetent.
And I'm not saying that he is, although that move
would make you think that he is. But just say, oh,
I didn't know that the fans loved him like that?
Speaker 3 (23:42):
Excuse me?
Speaker 4 (23:44):
That is kind of part of your job is to
be well informed and well in tune with your team,
your organization, your connection to the community.
Speaker 3 (23:52):
To note, well, I ain't know they was.
Speaker 4 (23:55):
That's like trading twenty five year o Kobe Bryant and
mean like, well, I ain't know they was gonna be
that mad Rady to Kobe, like what, I agree, So
just do not to say you it's okay to not
say that. Hey, man, listen, the fans have a right.
We know the man, we're gonna earn. Trust, we're gonna
win and they'll be happy.
Speaker 2 (24:13):
He was.
Speaker 3 (24:14):
We get it. He was a five time off. This
guy is an international star.
Speaker 1 (24:20):
We made a a unorthodox move that you just don't
see that often, you.
Speaker 3 (24:25):
Know what I mean.
Speaker 1 (24:25):
And we did what we thought was going to be
great for us. That's what we did, and it and
it wind up, uh the reaction from the fans.
Speaker 3 (24:33):
I get it. When you trade such a talent and
just leave it at that.
Speaker 4 (24:36):
You can't sell me alloud. Oh, I ain't know they
was gonna be that man, Rob. You just literally can't
say that, like you cannot say that because that just
he's Luca.
Speaker 3 (24:48):
That's why I.
Speaker 1 (24:49):
Said, sometimes you're better off not saying anything. And I guess, no,
I get it, you have to make a comment, but
but that's not the right comment.
Speaker 4 (24:57):
You traded yr Kics. Well, shoot, I ain't know they
was gonna be that man you trained sga. Oh, I
ain't know they was gonna be that man. Like this
is why it just keeps getting worse. So at some
point it's okay to say, look, you know, we have
to move on. And I know this is a sensitive subject.
I know people are said, but we have we made
a decision. We're gonna stick by it. We have to
move on, and we believe things will work out when
(25:18):
our guys are healthy. You know, when we get a
D healthy, I mean obviously he's playing. When we get
a D healthy, we get Kyrie back. Just set a
bounce back next year. This isn't our full game plan.
We can't be judged here. There's no way you can
say that out loud, right, But.
Speaker 1 (25:32):
But you know what I mean, like like like the
idea that you could put that out there and think
people aren't gonna push back on you, or people aren't
gonna look at you and.
Speaker 3 (25:41):
Go what even even people who may have supported you
would be like.
Speaker 1 (25:44):
But but there was a question though, I did want
to ask you real quick U.
Speaker 3 (25:49):
A reporter asked him, why should why should you be fired?
Or something? Or how? What was it? Why shouldn't you
be Why shouldn't you be fired? Is what they said.
And I don't know if it was the question should
have been more like.
Speaker 1 (26:10):
After making that trade and the reaction that you've gotten
from the fan base and whatever. Like, to me, the
question would be do you expect to keep your job?
Is your job safe?
Speaker 3 (26:24):
Is? Yeah? You got it? Okay? Here it is? Why
shouldn't you be fired?
Speaker 6 (26:29):
One?
Speaker 5 (26:29):
I think I've done a really good job here and
I don't think I can be judged by the injuries
this year. You have to judge from totality from beginning
to end, and so I think I have a really
good working relationship with Patrick. I think you had in Rick.
The leadership that we have is really elite. And you'll
see next year when our team comes back, we're going
to be competing for a championship.
Speaker 3 (26:50):
Yeah. I get what you're saying.
Speaker 4 (26:53):
The question with a move like this, does it warrant
being fired?
Speaker 3 (26:58):
See?
Speaker 1 (26:59):
But I think more about because he didn't make the
move by itself. So my point is my point would
be from from the uh, the ownership, you know.
Speaker 3 (27:11):
What I mean?
Speaker 1 (27:12):
Like this, you made this trade. Uh, the reaction has
been really bad. Have you been given a guarantee by
ownership that you won't be fired or that you're secured?
Speaker 3 (27:24):
Do you see what I'm saying, do you feel like your.
Speaker 1 (27:26):
Your job security is secure here after this trade or
something of that ilk I think would be more, but
you have to bring into it ownership. It can't be
just him because you can't make a trade, because you
can't just make a trade by yourself.
Speaker 4 (27:45):
I totally agree. You see what I'm saying. We all
have let the ownership off the hook some because you're
not trading Luca and and you need to have these conversations,
and we keep talking about Nico and you and I
have talked about it. Well I'm keeping it without ownership
going who a we doing?
Speaker 3 (28:01):
What are we doing?
Speaker 4 (28:02):
Okay on hepproval or coming to him, Hey man, we're
not paying this three fifty for him. We're not doing
to get what make some calls you're making make a
deal because that you're not not him.
Speaker 1 (28:14):
And that's the only point that I think is as
unrealistic is that people think he woke up one day
and just decided to trade Luke like like, oh, he
did it, And ownership said, oh what happened? We didn't
even what you traded. I didn't even know. So I
saw the Shams report.
Speaker 3 (28:30):
Come on, man, you already know that they knew all right.

Speaker 4 (29:41):
What, six for seven with Hope Bro They did score
twenty four, right, Yeah, that's true, and uh he has
six RBIs. I'm almost disappointed it out of twenty four
six hits as the Reds destroyed the Orioles twenty four
to two. Congrats again, Austin wins Our Express Pro of
the Week. I almost tempted to just say, not him,
but the whole tigh rents. That's insane. Twenty four to two.

All right, it signed off for last call. All right,
this is a last call.
Speaker 3 (30:18):
O Fox. All right, last go who we got? Let's
do it?
Speaker 1 (30:23):
Chris in Syracuse, You're on the odd couple of Fox
Sports Radio and you are the last call.
Speaker 8 (30:30):
Guys. You know, I just dig this show so much,
and I want to touch on this thing about Luca.
You know, I've never represented millionaires of people in sports,
but I've represented people a lot of years, and other
than a business being shut down, the worst thing that
could happen to people that work, and these players are employees.
(30:51):
As a new management they come in, they say, we're
the boss now, we got all the answers. Whatever you
thought before me nothing to us. And they suck and
they're using ignorant and they just mess so many things
up and usually takes years for them to either screw
up so bad they're out again, or they change the
(31:13):
people in Dallas. I feel for you. You're gonna have
to turn your back on this team and get rid
of that management.
Speaker 1 (31:20):
Well, and so I hear you, Chris. And here's the thing.
You never know when somebody buys over. We know what
was being done before with Mark Cuban and all that
changes people have. And and this again I said it
to you before. This is just a financial thing, no
matter how you look at it.
Speaker 3 (31:38):
Am I right?
Speaker 4 (31:39):
But I think that goes to his point of like
new management is like we're here for a reason. This
how we're gonna do business. We're gonna conduct business like this.
We're we're not making money, and here's how we're gonna
do it.
Speaker 1 (31:50):
Squeeze another one in who we got Manuel from guard
Die Parker.
Speaker 6 (31:56):
Yo store Legs my man Hey Mom kelvin Washington with
more jobs than the whole Jamaican nation.
Speaker 3 (32:06):
Baby three jobs, minding great.
Speaker 6 (32:08):
How are you hey, I'm good. So you know what, Rob,
this is one of the times that I agree with you.
Speaker 7 (32:14):
The Lakers, man.
Speaker 6 (32:16):
They're hobbling. You know, I never been a big Lebron guy.
Speaker 7 (32:19):
I've been a Laker guy, right, you know.
Speaker 3 (32:20):
What I mean?
Speaker 6 (32:22):
So I give him twenty twenty. But that team was loaded, man,
it was like an all Star team. Luca, I've always
felt that he's been giving way too much, way too soon.
I mean, yeah, he was a fifteen year old playing
in Spain and you know, a professional as a teenager
and all that good stuff. Man, but he hasn't done
(32:44):
it here, you know what I mean. So I didn't
never crown him king, none of that. I was skeptical
from the beginning because of the fact that the deficiencies
that this Lakers squad has on defense only get compound
dig when you throw in a guy like Luca who's
all offense. So I give credit to the guy in
(33:07):
Dallas for having the balls to say, man, you know what,
he's not a complete player. He is a superstar. I
won't take that away from him. But you know how
it is, man, Sometimes the fans don't like the decisions man,
you met me. You know, I'm the leader fan aflets
not that all day. So right, well it's all good man.
You know, like either you roll with your team and
(33:29):
you love your team, or cheer for someone else. At
the end of the day, it's business. Yeah, business as usual.
Speaker 1 (33:37):
It is business, especially when you're talking about three hundred
and fifty million dollars.
Speaker 4 (33:40):
Yeah, it's sometimes we forget it is easy to throw
around somebody else's money.
Speaker 3 (33:44):
That's a lot of money. It's amazing. Give him now,
I do that?
Speaker 8 (33:47):
Do it?
Speaker 3 (33:47):
Ain't your money. It's a major commitment.
Speaker 4 (33:50):
Yeah, I still, I mean obviously that. But he said
Luca hasn't done anything. I mean i'd five and beat Wait,
what what's going on right now? Jalen Brunson walking out
the game with four or forty left pretty much the
only thing happening for the Knicks. Curious what to see?
What's going on there? He just went through the tunnel. Uh,
pissons up six with four to thirty left. But yeah,
(34:12):
I mean Luca has five time all NBA got. You
just got just got your team to the finals, not
like it was six seven years ago. Uh, that is
the part I think that also shook fans was that
he just got them to the finals this season. I
think that like the confusion as a fan, because you'd
be going, all right, we're gonna do this, we got this,
and then Luca's gonna and you're like, wait, we the
(34:34):
same guy that just got us to the finals traded.
That's what I think would be added to why fans
are kind of still upset, no doubt, little testy game
right here, it is all right, listen, this is what
it's supposed to be.
Speaker 3 (34:46):
There's still a lot of time. Four and a half minutes,
six point game, and look at this score. That's a
nineties boy. Patrick Ewing and.
Speaker 4 (34:55):
John Starkson Joe dupe Tex, that's your man, text, Joe
du Marcella.
Speaker 3 (34:59):
Is he out there? All right?
Speaker 1 (35:00):
The uh we'll be back tomorrow for a trash talking Tuesdays.
Speaker 4 (35:04):
Right, I'm gonna talk. I'm gonna send you my Jordans.
I want to, but okay, don't do that. Chris did that.
