Speaker 1 (00:01):
Hey, everyone, welcome back to Better Happy Hour. I'm Joe
and I'm Srina and we are here with Dean and Kalin,
who we've actually been here with for about forty five minutes,
but we've been having technical difficulties on both of our ends.
So welcome, Welcome back to the podcast.

Speaker 2 (00:15):
Yeah, thanks for sticking around, Thanks for having us, Thanks
so much for having us.

Speaker 3 (00:19):
What a real pleasure and treated us.

Speaker 4 (00:21):
To be here.

Speaker 3 (00:22):
Hey, Heje, what's your handicap at these days?

Speaker 2 (00:26):
We record for ten minutes of this podcast already that
is never going to be seen or heard likely, boy.

Speaker 1 (00:32):
But Dan, when you put in your handicap in the
in the well, we're gonna move off of golf. But
just real quick, when you put in your handicap in
the email thread, you were like a You're like, I'm
a nineteen point one. Now you're down to a nine.

Speaker 5 (00:47):
No, I was lying about that podcas as many strokes
as I could so I could win some money.

Speaker 1 (00:51):
Okay, So I actually like, if I get at this point,
I'm like a thirty something. But like if I'm if
I'm golfing in two months in the eighties, I'm gonna
beat everyone.

Speaker 3 (01:01):
Yeah, I think what Ben's doing too, is you like.

Speaker 2 (01:02):
Locked in your if you're golfing in the sixties, you're
also gonna beat everyone.

Speaker 1 (01:06):
I'm just you know, no, I.

Speaker 3 (01:08):
Mean, it's it's true.

Speaker 5 (01:09):
You're in a good position right now because like if
you're like a ten to a three, where a lot
of those people are gonna be.

Speaker 3 (01:15):
You're not gonna get you.

Speaker 5 (01:16):
You like could have improved by twelve strokes, but those
guys aren't going to improve by.

Speaker 3 (01:20):
Twelve strokes, you know. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:21):
Yeah, so you're.

Speaker 3 (01:22):
Gonna want some money down there.

Speaker 1 (01:24):
That's That's what I'm hoping. Anyways, Where where are you guys?
You guys are in You guys are in Colorado. I'm
assuming twenty minutes outside I Aspen.

Speaker 3 (01:32):
Yeah, that's a good guess. We're at a higher elevation
than Salt Lake City.

Speaker 2 (01:35):
Believe it or not, this is only gonna be funny
for us because our listeners.

Speaker 6 (01:42):
Don't realize that we've already had.

Speaker 2 (01:44):
This conversation and we're having it a second time for
everyone listening.

Speaker 3 (01:49):
Where are you guys? Are you in Chicago?

Speaker 1 (01:51):
No, we're in New York, but we so we re
signed the New York for another year.

Speaker 6 (01:56):
It started April first.

Speaker 1 (01:58):
April first, Yeah, and then we we you we're getting
an apartment in Toronto, where Serena's from. And then I
think we're gonna be moving to Chicago next year, but
we we still haven't figured out.

Speaker 2 (02:09):
Yeah, we moved to New York being like, oh, we'll
be here for a year or two, and then year
three came, We're like, oh, let's sign again. And then
the plan was to move to Chicago this year, start
saving some money and settling down quote unquote, and we
just couldn't pull the trigger on it, so we resigned
we'll be here for a fourth year and then maybe

(02:31):
next year we'll move.

Speaker 6 (02:33):
Likely next year we'll move Chicago.

Speaker 5 (02:34):
Yeah, your apartment is giving new age Gossip Girl Like
boo hoo, chic you we're actually.

Speaker 6 (02:42):
Watching gossip right now?

Speaker 1 (02:44):
Do you do you watch? Have you watched Gossip Girl?

Speaker 5 (02:47):
I've seen when Caitlen watches it, I like pretend I'm
interested in it, and then all of a sudden, I'm
like really.

Speaker 3 (02:52):
Hooked in and like very invested. So I watched a
little bit of it.

Speaker 1 (02:56):
Yeah, well you're on the right podcast body, because I've
currently had season six on the last season. Yeah, the
first time that I've watched This is the first time
that I've watched Gossip Girl. I I I've enjoyed it.

Speaker 6 (03:10):
You love it.

Speaker 4 (03:11):
I do know who gossip Girl is.

Speaker 1 (03:14):
I don't know, but I'm gonna I'll give you my prediction.
I I think so. I feel like the most obvious person.
I fucking hate Rufus, but I think it could be Rufous.

Speaker 2 (03:25):
He thinks it's a guy. Is one of his friends
referred to gossip girls. He always said it was Yeah,
but you you know, you've had.

Speaker 1 (03:33):
This obvious person to be gossip Girl. In my opinion,
it's got to be Dan. I think it's Dan.

Speaker 6 (03:38):
Why do you think it's Dan?

Speaker 1 (03:40):
Well, oh, I didn't tell you this. I told my cousin.
But I think Dan is the most obvious choice because
he's obsessed with the Upper East Side. He's the outsider.
He's a writer, and he writes best talking about people
that he knows. And he just, all of a sudden,
he wrote a novel pretty quick. He had all that information.

Speaker 2 (03:59):
It's so funny because when I watch gospip Girl for
the first time, this is my second time, I'm rewatching
it with him. I didn't think one time about who
gossip Girl is, Like, I didn't think about it at all.
I feel like that's been like the main discussion now,
like watching it back, knowing and then hearing he thinks
it's going to be, which has changed.

Speaker 1 (04:15):
Obviously. I've never really cared about who gossip Girl was,
but I just got so sick of wanting Chuck and
Blair to work, and it's so it's so frustrating that
they kind of they just can't make it work. To
the point, now.

Speaker 4 (04:28):
Why do you hate Rufus? I've never heard of someone
hating Rufus.

Speaker 2 (04:31):
I just I just he's just at a bad point
in season six because Rufus is like dating Ivy then.

Speaker 4 (04:37):
I forgot about that.

Speaker 1 (04:39):
That's not that's the coolest thing he's done. I just
he just drives me crazy, Rufous. He's just a goodie
two shoe Rufus.

Speaker 6 (04:48):
Okay, I just want him to have a bit of it.

Speaker 1 (04:51):
That that was fir Okay. So you guys started living
in Colorado.

Speaker 5 (04:58):
If you guys, If you guys are ever driving through Carbondale, Colorado,
and you see a Wi Fi name that would maybe
resonate with you, the password for that Wi Fi is
XO Exo gossip girl.

Speaker 2 (05:11):
Well away, all right, well everyone in your neighborhoods had
to steal your Wi Fi?

Speaker 4 (05:15):
Now, yeah, maybe about it.

Speaker 3 (05:18):
No, that's fine. There's no one's gonna be driven by
our house.

Speaker 1 (05:21):
Is this your Is this? Is this like home for
a while? Is this where you guys plan on staying?

Speaker 4 (05:27):
I'd like to raise kids here. We're we've been trying
for kids. No luck yet, but I think it's we
have six bunk bags here, so it feels like it
would be a good sleepover house. And it's fun. We're
on a bunch of lands, so the kids can just
like run free. It's great.

Speaker 6 (05:44):
Chase, How has that process been?

Speaker 2 (05:46):
I saw you posted about your like fertility journey, and
I feel like there's so many different obviously fertility journeys.
But I have friends that were like, I didn't want
to get pregnant on the first try, and I got
pregnant right away, and I thought it was going to
take me like to years. And then there's people that
are like, I thought I was gonna get pregnant right away,
and it took me so much longer.

Speaker 4 (06:05):
Yeah, I thought I would be immediate. My mom got
pregnant every time, so fast, so easily. So I was like, okay,
first time we try, I'm gonna get pregnant. And then yeah,
it's not that easy.

Speaker 3 (06:15):
It's my fault. I've got bumnards.

Speaker 4 (06:17):
We don't know that for sure.

Speaker 6 (06:18):
But are you guys getting like testing done and stuff?

Speaker 4 (06:22):
I got mine done. I did blood work in an
ultra sound on my ovaries. He still has to get his.

Speaker 3 (06:27):
Well.

Speaker 5 (06:27):
I've done a sperm check before and it was a
while ago, and they said I was fine, kind of
kind of maybe fine.

Speaker 6 (06:34):
Oh no, this is.

Speaker 1 (06:35):
A this is a this is maybe well yeah, are
you are you guys ready for kids? Are you like
we want to have kids?

Speaker 4 (06:44):
Now? I feel pretty ready. I turned thirty a month
and a half. Okay, so I that feels older than
I ever thought for kids. But part of me too
is like I could wait maybe another year.

Speaker 3 (06:56):
I don't know. I'm like ready but.

Speaker 5 (06:58):
Not ready, but I feel like no one's ever fully ready. Yeah,
and then they have the kids and they're like, oh
my gosh, I wasn't as ready as I thought I
was if they think they were ready. So it definitely
is an interesting morall like dilemma that I'm faced with
not faced with, but like, I think about it, the
pros and the cons, probably more often than I should.
I'm like, I want to have kids because I think
it'd be so much fun to raise kids and be

(07:18):
a parent and do all those things. But at the
same time, I love to be able to do whatever
I want, whenever I want, and if you have kids,
you can't necessarily do.

Speaker 4 (07:25):
That, and you just have to plan your life so much.
Both of our best friends are getting married. His best
friend is marrying my best friend.

Speaker 6 (07:33):
Oh my gosh, yeah in Ireland.

Speaker 4 (07:35):
Amazing, right, it's so fun. But now I'm like, wait,
if we get pregnant today, I might not be able
to go to the wedding if I get pregnant next month.
So I'm like, dude, I don't know, but do I
really need to wait for that? Right? Maybe?

Speaker 3 (07:46):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (07:47):
It's funny because when we first moved here, we were
talking about kids and she's like, well, I just want
to have one summer where I don't have to worry
about being pregnant and I can party and party.

Speaker 3 (07:54):
I did not see party.

Speaker 2 (07:57):
I know I've ever I can't really picture Kaylin partying
and party.

Speaker 5 (08:02):
She didn't say party, but she wanted to like quote
unquote enjoy the summer.

Speaker 4 (08:05):
As a child red wine.

Speaker 5 (08:07):
I like to you know, and party and party, but
but I feel like we'll always have an excuse to
not have them then at the current time. So I
feel like we just got to rip the cord and
do it, but just keep trying.

Speaker 1 (08:19):
I guess were you guys. Were you guys considering going
to Coachella this year? Is that a thing anymore in
your lives?

Speaker 5 (08:26):
It was not even with them. I never even considered
it for a second.

Speaker 4 (08:30):
Well, It's funny because I was watching all the videos
and I was like, I'm so happy I'm not there.
I wasn't invited. I wasn't thinking about going, but it
just yeah, I feel too old.

Speaker 1 (08:39):
Yeah yeah, well I mean I was, you know, you
see everybody posting this week and I was like like damn,
like I wasn't. I wouldn't even like like that, no
one asked us to go or else. Yeah, but like
I wouldn't even have considered I.

Speaker 6 (08:52):
Even knows this weekend until.

Speaker 1 (08:53):
Like like I'm seeing all the like younger bachelor people
now are all there, you know, and it's like, yeah,
used to get I would get it.

Speaker 5 (09:00):
I would go if if I got paid to go, Yeah,
of course, but but I wouldn't.

Speaker 3 (09:05):
I wouldn't. I wouldn't go like on my own free.

Speaker 6 (09:08):
Volition or whatever would it self facilitates.

Speaker 1 (09:10):
Did you ever get invited to the Masters?

Speaker 3 (09:13):
Oh my god, and it'd be dream come true. But no,
I have not, have.

Speaker 1 (09:15):
You, No, but I would love to.

Speaker 5 (09:19):
They don't invite like people. They just you have to
go through lottery and get it right.

Speaker 1 (09:23):
Oh really, I think I want to say Joey who
was the Bachelor, was was invited last year there. Yeah,
I'm pretty sure.

Speaker 5 (09:32):
Yeah, but he's like way up here and we're like
way down here, so it would make sense for him
to get the invite over us.

Speaker 4 (09:37):
I know.

Speaker 1 (09:37):
And we're not like we're not getting back up there anytime.
We're just going to have to win the lottery for sure.
Do you guys still own a house in Vegas?

Speaker 4 (09:49):
Yeah, we do. We've had tenants there for a year
and a half. They just signed for two years, so
it's pretty easy.

Speaker 3 (09:55):
Just good.

Speaker 4 (09:56):
They're really easy tenants and we got super lucky.

Speaker 3 (09:59):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (09:59):
It's it's one of those things where it's like in
all reality, like we will never live there again. And
so we like, maybe should sell the house, but we
got We got it in at like the COVID rate
of like a two point nine percent inches straight, and
so it's like it kind of would be silly to
get rid of.

Speaker 3 (10:12):
It, I guess.

Speaker 4 (10:13):
But it was nice for three years living there. We
were so close to the airport and easy airport to
find it out of. And the summers were brutal, but
every other season was fine. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (10:23):
What what neighborhood is it? Like Henderson or summer summer? Yeah,
I'm pro Vegas.

Speaker 6 (10:30):
Yeah, you love Vegas, you love this?

Speaker 1 (10:33):
Well, no, but I would live in Vegas.

Speaker 2 (10:35):
I feel like we don't know enough about life in Vegas.

Speaker 1 (10:39):
I've been to Vegas more than I've been anywhere, true though.

Speaker 6 (10:44):
I have, Like, but have you been in suburbia Vegas?

Speaker 3 (10:48):
I have?

Speaker 2 (10:48):
Okay, well you can move there, but I'm not. I'm
not envisioning my life there. Let's try to get our
ass out of New York.

Speaker 6 (10:56):
First.

Speaker 3 (10:57):
Are you a lot of golf out there too? Which
is nice? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (11:00):
Yeah, I actually I just golfed out there, but that's
where I golfed the one twenty.

Speaker 3 (11:05):
Nice. What course did you play?

Speaker 4 (11:07):
Uh?

Speaker 1 (11:08):
If you say the name I want to say was
it Reserve Revere. Revere. It was a public course. It
was like it was like twenty minutes from the strip.

Speaker 3 (11:19):
Okay, I probably know it, but I can't think of
what it would be off the top of my head.

Speaker 5 (11:24):
It was one of those funny things too, moving there.
Like we bought it because Caitlyn had family out there
at the time, and it was a good price versus
especially like Los Angeles prices. So we bought it as
like an investment and then lived in it, and we
actually did enjoy living there more than we thought we would.
I was kind of concerned for myself because I love blackjack,
Like I could play blackjack all day every day, but

(11:45):
I know that's not like a.

Speaker 3 (11:45):
Healthy habit to have.

Speaker 5 (11:47):
And so when I was like, we're buying a house
Las Vegas, I'm going to literally live at the casino,
I was really proud of myself because I probably only
went to the casino like once every other month, and
I don't like saw that.

Speaker 3 (11:58):
Yeah, I was like I would be living there.

Speaker 5 (12:00):
I never went, but like if I visit on vacation,
I'm like always on the casino floor. So I would
like go once every other month, and I would only
gamble like one hundred dollars at a time, So it
was actually a little healthier than I thought it was
going to be.

Speaker 3 (12:11):
Living out there.

Speaker 1 (12:13):
Well, yeah, that's that's that's showing some real growth. I
feel like if I live there, because when I go there,
I gamble like all day every day. But like if
I live there, I don't think I would.

Speaker 3 (12:29):
Didn't you win it. Didn't you go for your bachelor
party and win like a bunch of money?

Speaker 1 (12:32):
Yeah, I had. We hit a slot, Me and my
buddy hit a slot for sixty K. But I've been Yeah,
I've been paying. I've been playing a lot of I
play a lot of roulette, but I only which all
the like all the dealers that you all look at
me like I'm insane. But I only played the number
thirty one, and I just keep playing it. And I've

(12:53):
been winning, like I'm I'm I'm coming home a winner.
I've won the past like six times in Vegas like.

Speaker 3 (12:59):
A good des bat. I think thirty one.

Speaker 1 (13:00):
Just by basically, well, I will bet thirty one, and
I'll bet. I was betting twenty five for Serena's birthday,
and then I found out her birthday is actually the
twenty eighth, No birthday, Your birthday's the twenty fifth.

Speaker 6 (13:11):
Yeah it is.

Speaker 1 (13:13):
I think I was met in twenty eight.

Speaker 2 (13:14):
Again, I don't know what you're doing, but my birthday
is the twenty damn birthdays the thirty first, which is
the lucky number. Yeah, that's the You could just just
stop betting me.

Speaker 6 (13:26):
It's okay.

Speaker 5 (13:28):
I got asked when you won the sixty k, did
you was it Did the trip trans because it sounds
like it was at the start of the trip.

Speaker 3 (13:32):
Did it transform then.

Speaker 5 (13:33):
To be like we have all of this money to
spend on this trip and make it like the best
possible trip, or did you like put a bunch of
it away?

Speaker 1 (13:40):
I well, I was up going into it, So I
was up like we we split sixty so thirty thirty,
and then I was up going into it. And then
I just yeah, it just had a good time on
the trip. It was my bachelor party, so most of
the guys were picking up a lot of the tabs anyways,
and I just kind of kept gambling. I just kind
of kept building it up nice and I won't point.

(14:00):
At one point, I was playing blackjack and I was
drunk after the pool, and if I wasn't playing conservative,
I would have won a lot of money, but I
stopped myself because I could have lost it all and
I didn't want to do that.

Speaker 5 (14:15):
Well, good, good job. I think Serena's probably proud of
you for doing that, so I thought.

Speaker 1 (14:19):
She's made me a much more conservative human being, which
is great, which I.

Speaker 6 (14:23):
Think has a result in you gambling better.

Speaker 1 (14:26):
Yeah, I think so too. Okay, but enough enough enough
about me, are you guys? Because like Dean, can you
like build a house from scratch?

Speaker 3 (14:35):
At this point, I think I think I could make
a fair shot at it. I don't think it wouldn't
stand very long, but I could probably get it done.

Speaker 4 (14:42):
He just so, we just got a cat, and he
I wanted an external litter box, so it's like living
in our garage, but he can like come in and
out because he's not an outdoor cat. So he built
like a whole house with like siding, like deciding you
would see on a house. You can describe it better.
I don't really understand what he did.

Speaker 6 (14:59):
You a good job.

Speaker 1 (15:00):
Yeah, basically I pictured that.

Speaker 3 (15:03):
It's basically a mini house.

Speaker 5 (15:05):
It's like three feet by six feet, so it's really small, obviously,
but it's yeah, it's got like siding, it's got windows,
it's got insulation, it's got electrical like electricity in ITRK.

Speaker 6 (15:17):
Is living in luxury.

Speaker 5 (15:19):
Oh my god, we basically added six feet of living
space to our house. I hope the tax adjusters don't
come and start charging more for our property value.

Speaker 1 (15:26):
But if you so, But like if I if my
if I got it my living room, you could ungut
it like you could.

Speaker 3 (15:35):
I could uncut it. Yeah, I could regut it, I guess.

Speaker 1 (15:38):
And how long would that take you?

Speaker 5 (15:40):
It depends. I mean, Kalin's probably got some stuff to
say about this. My I've got this issue where I'll
start a project and I'll get like ninety percent of
the way done with it, and then I'm like, you
know what, I think this is done enough for me
to move on to the next thing. So there's a
few things around the house where it's like like, for instance,
I redid our pantry and it's like ninety like it's
totally done, unusable, but I wanted to add like two

(16:01):
extra outlets, and I didn't finish the backsplash, and now
it's like, who knows what that's gonna get finished soon.

Speaker 3 (16:07):
It's gonna finish it. Yeah, it's gonna ge finish it soon.

Speaker 1 (16:09):
But how does that make you feel?

Speaker 4 (16:11):
The pantry one is a bit and can be it's
looks like an inconvenience because.

Speaker 3 (16:18):
All so much better than it used to be.

Speaker 4 (16:19):
Though totally, totally he did a really good job. But
all of our appliances live in the pantry, and the
goal was to have the outlet so we never have
to like bring them in the kitchen. Right, So that's
the one thing I'm missing in the backslash.

Speaker 3 (16:29):
Isn't done it.

Speaker 5 (16:30):
But you should have seen this pantry before I got
my hands on it. It was just like the little
plywood shelves. Now we got marble countertops, floating shelves.

Speaker 2 (16:37):
So it's like, what's gonna happen first, the baby or
the pantry?

Speaker 3 (16:41):
Right? I think once the baby, well, this is my plan.

Speaker 5 (16:43):
Once Dalen gets pregnant, I think I'm going to stop
drinking alcohol, not like saying like, I don't know, it's
kind of weird to have that stipulation, but my brother
did that. My brother had his second child like a
year and a half ago, and when his wife got pregnant,
with the second baby. He hasn't had a drink since then,
so like over two years, and I admire him so
much and I want to be just like him in
every single way. And so my logic is, once Klein

(17:06):
gets pregnant, I'm gonna do the same thing. And I
feel like once that happens, I'll be just more productive
and capable as a human being in general. And I
don't know if I'll actually be able to do it,
but that's like my mindset going into it.

Speaker 6 (17:17):
At least, are you like an everyday drinker, like will you?

Speaker 4 (17:21):
It's like a social get and it's like warming up here,
so it's more like, yeah, socially outside.

Speaker 5 (17:27):
I usually drink on the golf course, but actually this
just this season specifically, I've been walking a lot more.

Speaker 3 (17:33):
I've been walking eighteen holes, so it's like seven miles
and you're.

Speaker 5 (17:36):
Like, don't have a cup holder. So I'm not drinking
on the golf course, which has been really nice. But yeah,
I drink like maybe twice a week, so not a lot,
but not not never.

Speaker 3 (17:44):
Do you zen?

Speaker 4 (17:46):
I do? He wakes up?

Speaker 3 (17:49):
Do you zin? Do you?

Speaker 4 (17:51):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (17:51):
But I've I've really stopped the past couple of weeks
just because I don't know. I don't know, Like I mean,
I really enjoy them, but I just know it's probably
not great for you.

Speaker 3 (18:02):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (18:02):
Also, I also definitely feel like my heart rate being
elevated when I when I do are those threes sixes?
What are you doing?

Speaker 3 (18:10):
There's six is sixes? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (18:12):
Yeah, yeah, because that's I got to a point where
threes just were like just not cutting it. I was like,
I don't know, and then I was like, then if
I do drink, then I'll smoke somebody's vape and that's a.

Speaker 5 (18:26):
There are times it hasn't happened, like this is like
a couple of years ago, but I would like throw
us in in and then drink an energy drink and
I would just be sitting there. I could like feel
my heart beating, and I was like, this can't be
healthy for me, Like this is not a good thing
right now.

Speaker 3 (18:39):
But I'm trying to cut down as well. I'm doing
less than I used to.

Speaker 1 (18:44):
That's good.

Speaker 2 (18:45):
So in solidarity with Kalin's future pregnancy, you'll be sober.

Speaker 6 (18:49):
Does that include the zins?

Speaker 3 (18:51):
No, this are probably stick around a little bit. Sorry, Yeah,
it's not.

Speaker 5 (18:56):
I mean I'm not condoning anyone to start doings in
but it is kind of for me, it's like an
oral fixation thing, Like it's like chewing a piece of gum.

Speaker 4 (19:03):
Yeah, and then I said, well, why did you chew gum?

Speaker 3 (19:06):
I'm not gonna chew gum. I don't get chew them
all day long. That's too much gum.

Speaker 1 (19:09):
I honestly think I would say, I would say gum
might be worse.

Speaker 6 (19:13):
Now get out of here with that.

Speaker 1 (19:15):
Yeah, I mean there's a lot of there's a lot
of there's a lot of things in gum.

Speaker 6 (19:18):
There's a lot of things in Zin's too.

Speaker 3 (19:20):
Just it's just salt basically.

Speaker 1 (19:22):
Yeah. Yeah, I mean listen, I'm like, you have motivated
me to get a pack after this podcast.

Speaker 6 (19:28):
So thank you. Guys are not welcome back.

Speaker 3 (19:31):
Well, it's tough, correct me if I'm wrong.

Speaker 5 (19:33):
But in New York they don't do the flavors, right,
because California is the same way.

Speaker 3 (19:37):
I think.

Speaker 1 (19:37):
No New York has the flavors.

Speaker 5 (19:39):
Oh they do, okay, okay, yeah, because I know in
California all my friends that do it, they can only
buy like the flavorless stuff. And if that were the
case here, which like we live in like a pretty
progressive valley, so I'm surprised that there there's only like
two shops in the whole valley that sells them in flavors.
But if I couldn't get the if I couldn't get
the citrus flavor, I probably would just stop altogether because

(19:59):
I'm not I don't like the menthol or like the
regular chill whatever it is.

Speaker 1 (20:03):
Okay, moving on from from from sins you guys? Are
you you guys? Are I heard you guys are starting
your own podcast?

Speaker 3 (20:11):
Is that?

Speaker 1 (20:12):
Is that something that I heard?

Speaker 4 (20:13):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (20:13):
So on the to do list we went under yeah,
so wait, it was help I Suck at Being Married Dating.

Speaker 4 (20:20):
Well, it went through a lot of name changes.

Speaker 5 (20:23):
It started help I Suck at Dating, and then it
went to help at being newly what ope, which is
just mouthful.

Speaker 6 (20:29):
And then it went to Jared Yeah, and.

Speaker 3 (20:32):
I enjoyed podcasting.

Speaker 5 (20:34):
I mean, you guys might be able to weigh in
on this too, like before I started my po and
I'm not I'm going to be the first one to
say my podcast was never good. And then when Klen
came on it got a little bit better, obviously, But
I'm just like not much of like a storyteller.

Speaker 3 (20:46):
I tend to like speak really.

Speaker 5 (20:48):
Fast and mumble and ramble like all these things that
aren't necessarily good for podcasting. But when I started podcasting,
I noticed, like just in like everyday conversation with my friends,
I was like telling better stories.

Speaker 3 (20:59):
And I just I felt more comfortable talking. So I
do think that from the personal.

Speaker 5 (21:03):
Side of it, I benefited a little bit from.

Speaker 3 (21:06):
Having the podcast.

Speaker 5 (21:07):
And there is like a weird thing about telling the
world about everyday life that you're going through and then
all of a sudden not being able.

Speaker 3 (21:15):
To do that.

Speaker 4 (21:16):
Like, Yeah, I also think like we're pretty private people,
Like we share our lives on Instagram, but not like
the full extent, And I think the podcast was a
way to like share our lives a little bit better.

Speaker 5 (21:27):
Yeah, And I don't know about you guys, but I
just I hate social media right now for whatever reason.
Like Instagram, I never post there anymore, partly because my
life is way less exciting, and the other part is
like I'll just like see other people post, like just
like scrolling the reels, like the Discover reels, I'm like,
these people are out of their minds, Like what's going
on and then I get discouraged to like you even

(21:48):
want to do anything with it too, But hopefully that
comes back at some point because obviously that's a that's
a big money generator for us, and it kind of
sucks to not do it.

Speaker 1 (21:56):
But but honestly, you kind of sound like me. Yeah,
I'm very similar, like I have like unless I like,
the only time I usually post is if I'm just
like in the moment I pick up my phone, I talk,
and then I just say I'm just going to release that. Yeah,
and it usually doesn't really do well, and that's just Yeah,
that's just how I look at it now.

Speaker 3 (22:16):
But I think that's the best way to do it too.

Speaker 5 (22:18):
I like I I there was a time in my
life where I was doing that and I felt really
good about it too, because you would just be like,
I'll just post whatever, like.

Speaker 3 (22:25):
It doesn't matter. But now since I don't post.

Speaker 5 (22:27):
Anymore, I feel like every post has to be something
more significant.

Speaker 3 (22:30):
But it's so stupid for me to think that way.

Speaker 1 (22:33):
You know, I don't know, Calen, you post a lot, right, Yeah,
I post way.

Speaker 4 (22:38):
More than him, and I'm trying to get on him
to be like post the cat House post the pantry,
like post all of his dis stuff, you like, built
these benches from the wall, Like what do you call
built in benches? But yeah, he hasn't done that, but
I post I post quite a bit.

Speaker 3 (22:52):
I'm just yeah, I'm just really critical of my work.

Speaker 5 (22:54):
So whenever I finish something, I like point out all
the flaws and I'm like, I don't want to post
this because everyone's going to see how much I suck.
But in reality it might not be as bad as
I think.

Speaker 3 (23:03):
I guess I don't know.

Speaker 1 (23:04):
I mean, I could never build a cat house.

Speaker 6 (23:07):
So you beat me there, like Joe's not handy?

Speaker 1 (23:10):
Yeah no, no, yeah no.

Speaker 3 (23:13):
I mean, hey, you guys are you're city folk. You
know you don't need to.

Speaker 6 (23:16):
Build anything exactly. We don't have space to build anything.

Speaker 1 (23:27):
Now, what's the new podcast going to be about?

Speaker 3 (23:29):
Absolutely nothing?

Speaker 4 (23:30):
Well, Jesus.

Speaker 3 (23:33):
Subscribe right now to leave a five serve you.

Speaker 4 (23:37):
Nothing one with Jared like our lives and updates and
travel kind of a wide variety.

Speaker 5 (23:43):
Yeah, the goal is to we kind of have disagreements
about this, but I want to like self publish and
and not try to monetize it at all, especially at
first because you know, we're not really gonna, in my opinion,
to have that many listeners. I guess at the end
of the day, because we're not very interesting.

Speaker 2 (24:00):
But yeah, it's sure there'll be people that you used
to listen to you guys on Suckers I suck a Dating.

Speaker 1 (24:06):
We think you come over, yeah, and we think you're interesting.
Like honestly, like we were excited when you guys are
coming in the podcast, like this will be this will
be easy. I didn't know it was going to take
forty five minutes for us to get going. But I mean,
we find you interesting.

Speaker 3 (24:19):
Well, and that's kind of the thing. I'm sure you
guys feel this way too.

Speaker 5 (24:21):
It's like there are so many times where, at least
for me, I'm like, I can't believe people would even
want to listen to us talk about anything.

Speaker 3 (24:28):
But at the end of the day, I.

Speaker 5 (24:29):
Guess, yeah, there are you know, like people are invested
for whatever reason, and I guess it's just important to
remind yourself that or to me, I'm talking to myself
here that people are interested.

Speaker 4 (24:39):
That's a qolm. I'm like, he talks himself down NonStop,
but he's like going to Bolivia in two weeks to
hike one hundred miles. He just.

Speaker 1 (24:52):
You're going to Bolivia to hike on a hundred miles?
Really one hundred I think.

Speaker 3 (24:56):
So it's like one hundred and forty some more. Yeah,
thank you.

Speaker 1 (25:00):
Is it with the group, like, are you like taking
turns or is you're doing.

Speaker 3 (25:03):
The full now it's it's with the same guys.

Speaker 5 (25:05):
I went to Pakistan with a couple of years ago
and we hiked I think it was like one hundred
something through the Himalays there, and so we're basically just
doing it's like a trekt thing, So we're just gonna
climb some mountains and hike from A to B sort
of thing.

Speaker 3 (25:18):
I don't really know.

Speaker 5 (25:18):
I just got invited and I just said yes, and
I gave him some money and then I haven't really
done any research on it.

Speaker 3 (25:23):
I'm not really sure what to expect.

Speaker 6 (25:24):
But Calin, do you have really fear for his life
in Pakistan?

Speaker 4 (25:28):
Yeah, because I was at Sarah Wills's wedding with you guys,
and that's when like all the flooding in Pakistan happened
and it was a little scary, and he didn't have
a phone on him. This time, he'll bring a phone
like a what is it called the satellite phone? Yeah,
so it should be it should be better, maybe safer.

Speaker 3 (25:47):
The thing is like, I'm not gonna I'm just like
never gonna hurt myself.

Speaker 4 (25:52):
Yeah, someone died on his Pakistan trip.

Speaker 3 (25:54):
So oh but it was me. I will not. I
tell Kalen this all the time, and she gets so
mad at me.

Speaker 5 (25:59):
I think I'm gonna to be like one hundred and
forty years old, and it just sucks because I'm going
to be like a widow for the last fifty.

Speaker 3 (26:06):
Years of my life. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (26:11):
How long is that hike? Well, that is at like
one hundred and forty miles.

Speaker 3 (26:14):
In it's about two weeks. Two weeks, okay, so you
probably do like.

Speaker 5 (26:18):
Ten miles well maybe like a little over ten miles
a day, summoning mountains a couple of days and some
days are easy, some days are hard. But it'll be
nice because part of the reason I agreed to it
when I went to Pakistan and I lost like twenty
pounds because I was hiking a lot. Obviously, I wasn't
drinking alcohol. I stopped eating meat out there because it
made me sick.

Speaker 4 (26:36):
And they were carrying the meat with them, walking the
meat with them, if you know what I'm saying, If
you know what.

Speaker 3 (26:42):
I mean, thanks, yeah.

Speaker 5 (26:44):
So, And I don't know about you, Joe, but like,
I don't like going to the gym anymore now that
I'm married. Not that when I was like single and
I was going to the gym, I was like going
to the gym to like try to not.

Speaker 3 (26:56):
Be single anymore. And now that I'm married, I'm like, well,
she's you know, she's agreed to be with me for life.

Speaker 5 (27:00):
So if I gained a couple of pounds this, you know,
she can be mad, but she's not going to leave
me for being a couple pounds overweight.

Speaker 4 (27:07):
I'm saying a lot of crazy stuff.

Speaker 1 (27:11):
I was gonna say, kaelin, how does that make you feel?

Speaker 3 (27:16):
And then what's funny is keep going this is bad?

Speaker 6 (27:19):
That's funny, Dean, what's funny?

Speaker 5 (27:21):
So right before our wedding, I set the goal to
climb all the fourteen years in Colorado before we got married.

Speaker 3 (27:26):
So there's fifty eight of them.

Speaker 5 (27:28):
And so I spent the whole summer climbing all the
mountains in Colorado, and I still felt like I would
like look in the mirror.

Speaker 3 (27:34):
I've got body dysmorphia, by the way. I would look
in the mirror and I.

Speaker 5 (27:36):
Would be like, you're still just so out of shape
and you're so ugly, blah blah blah. And then she
sent me a video of us right before the wedding,
just like last week. She showed it to me and
I was like, oh my god, I was so skinny
and so hot, but.

Speaker 3 (27:51):
I couldn't see it at the time.

Speaker 5 (27:52):
It's only like in retrospect I'm able to look back
and be like, wow, I actually wasn't really good shape,
even though I kept telling myself I wasn't.

Speaker 3 (27:57):
In good shape.

Speaker 1 (27:58):
You know that's literally, Yeah, this podcast has fucked me
on I I was going to go to the gym
after this, and now I'm going down to the store
and buying Zen's.

Speaker 6 (28:11):
And just let yourself go.

Speaker 1 (28:14):
You married me, Sa, You deal with it, Kayla. What
are you gonna do when he's What are you gonna
do when he's gone in Bolivia for two weeks?

Speaker 4 (28:24):
I might do like some girls trips. The problem is
we don't like to leave our animals, Like we have
to send our dog to daycare, but we don't love
to do so I'll probably be here, maybe have some
like girlfriends over to the house. I don't know. I'm
kind of excited to be long read a lot. Yeah,
do nothing, do you guys? I really like enjoy the
time I have at the house by myself because I
feel like I get a lot done. Like I clean

(28:45):
a lot more, I get a lot more work done.

Speaker 6 (28:47):
I am so much more productive when Joe's gone too.

Speaker 4 (28:50):
Yeah. I don't know what it is.

Speaker 2 (28:52):
I think it's Yeah, I don't know what it is either,
but I'm just way more down to like chill and
do nothing when he's here.

Speaker 1 (28:57):
Your entertainment.

Speaker 6 (28:58):
I'm like, let me deep clean every room.

Speaker 4 (29:01):
Yes. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (29:02):
On the opposite, I feel like I'm more productive when
Kailin's around.

Speaker 4 (29:05):
You need accountability.

Speaker 5 (29:06):
I need to be able accountable exactly. If she's on around,
I'm like, oh, I can do whatever I want. Might
as well crackup b right now.

Speaker 1 (29:14):
Any do you guys have any joint trips plan?

Speaker 4 (29:19):
We are going to LA this weekend?

Speaker 3 (29:21):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (29:22):
Is that it? I think that's it?

Speaker 1 (29:25):
You think sounds great?

Speaker 6 (29:27):
Kiln. Are you working with audible now? Are you doing
something with audible?

Speaker 4 (29:31):
I'm narrating a book, Yes, that's so cool, way harder
than I thought. I'm like, I think I'm too much
of a perfectionist. I like have re recorded chapter one
one hundred times. But maybe once I get the hang
of it, it'll be more fun.

Speaker 1 (29:45):
I feel like that would be really I feel like
that would be really difficult. Like we just watched Severance
and the last the season finale, the author of the
book like did a book reading, and I was like,
this is why I would never write a book. I
don't think I'd be capable writing book, but if I did,
I would never want to then write it and then
read the whole fucking thing in a room.

Speaker 6 (30:06):
Well I don't think you read the whole thing.

Speaker 1 (30:07):
I think, oh really.

Speaker 2 (30:08):
No, you just typically read excerpt from the book or
like a chapter or something.

Speaker 1 (30:14):
Like eight hours fiction.

Speaker 6 (30:19):
So I think that was to align with like the quirky.

Speaker 1 (30:22):
Yeah, but I always thought about that. I was like,
the one issue with if I was ever to write
a book is then I have to go do a
reading and read the whole.

Speaker 6 (30:30):
Well that's Calen's your job.

Speaker 3 (30:32):
Wow.

Speaker 4 (30:32):
Yeah. And it's like, I mean, every book has different characters,
but this is a fantasy book and there's like so
many characters and so many voices, and I'm like, shit,
I think I'm trying.

Speaker 2 (30:47):
Saying what book it is or no, I don't know,
but I don't know. That's okay, it's a fantasy book.

Speaker 1 (30:54):
Can't give us a Can you give us a different voice?

Speaker 3 (30:58):
No?

Speaker 4 (30:58):
Absolutely not. I honestly don't know if I'll ever share
the name of the book because I don't want people
to hear my voice. I don't know.

Speaker 2 (31:07):
Oh my gosh, wait, I'm so curious. So how long
does that take? If you're like from start to finish,
how long do you estimate it's going to take.

Speaker 4 (31:16):
I think the whole book will be about five to
six hours, so it'll take a lot because I'm editing
everything also, so I'm recording it and then putting it
into an audio editor and yeah, I don't know. I
had to sit it, send in like a fifteen minute
mark for the author to approve, and she was like,
sounds great, So I have like full range now to
just record.

Speaker 3 (31:36):
There's a teaser. It's a female author.

Speaker 6 (31:38):
Yeah, yeah, did you read the book before?

Speaker 4 (31:41):
No? No. So I was applying on acx, which is
an audible site, and got accepted for this one.

Speaker 6 (31:48):
Okay, oh wow, yeah, so cool.

Speaker 1 (31:50):
Oh my gosh. And then do you guys you guys
met in Paradise and Paradise is coming back. Yes, and
Paradise is coming back this year. Are you are you?
Will you watch it?

Speaker 3 (32:03):
I think we'll watch it.

Speaker 4 (32:04):
Yeah, we need to catch up. I feel like we've
missed a few seasons, so we don't know the characters.
We need to catch up and and like really know
who we're watching. But actually maybe it's more fun to
not know the characters.

Speaker 7 (32:15):
I wonder is like the Paradise is the best in
my opinion as someone that doesn't really watch Montreoti television
as it is, But like Bachelor and Bachelorette are great
shows in their own right, of course, but there's just
a lot of like fluff that I.

Speaker 3 (32:27):
Don't as a as an individual, really care about.

Speaker 5 (32:30):
Like I don't care about the backstories and all the
sad moments.

Speaker 3 (32:33):
I want.

Speaker 5 (32:33):
I want a bunch of hot, drunk people on a
beach making bad decisions and that's exactly what Paradise is.
So that's like, that's I won't really watch the main
shows all that much, but I don't mind watching Paradise
because it's the most, Like the flow is the best
in my opinion.

Speaker 2 (32:46):
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, And there's just so much more
opportunity for like a variety of storylines. Did you see
they're bringing the Golden Bachelor contestants doone as well? Oh,
it's so funny Grant's finale. So they haven't said how
it's gonna work, but they're integrating the Golden Bachelor contestants
with the regular Bachelor and Batchlory contestants.

Speaker 4 (33:08):
Oh I love that. That's gonna be so fun to watch.

Speaker 1 (33:10):
Would you guys go host the date if they asked?

Speaker 4 (33:13):
Oh, yeah, we love we love Paradise.

Speaker 5 (33:15):
It's one of those things where we'll like say yes
to anything for the most part. So yeah, maybe if
the if the Bachelor producers are out there listening, we're
available whenever you need us.

Speaker 4 (33:24):
It's a little Dene would say no to.

Speaker 3 (33:27):
Yeah, would be one of them, though, Yeah.

Speaker 1 (33:30):
What would be one of them? Yeah, I'm with you
on that. I agree. I I would. Yeah, I do
misspir like it would be nice to go back and
just kind of like smell the error, you know, whats
has like a distinct smell. It's gonna bring me back.

Speaker 2 (33:46):
Like tropical Yeah, it's sentimental, going back, it's nostalgic.

Speaker 1 (33:49):
Okay, guys, we took up a lot of your time today.
I think that's it for the episode. Thank you so
much for taking the time and hopping on Bachelor Happy Hour.
You guys have a podcast coming out, if you want
to plug it, plug it.

Speaker 6 (34:03):
Yeah, what's it to be called?

Speaker 3 (34:04):
Were still work? We're still work with the name here.
We're gonna figure it out. I want something to work.
Play with bell, but it's hard to hard to do.

Speaker 6 (34:13):
Ring the bell, Ring the bells, Ring the bell.

Speaker 5 (34:16):
Yeah, that was that was an option. That was That
was our wedding. Well, that was the wedding hashtag that
I use. I don't know if anyone else used it, but.

Speaker 1 (34:23):
You can do saved by the bells.

Speaker 3 (34:28):
That might be the new first position, right.

Speaker 6 (34:32):
By the bell. I really like that.

Speaker 5 (34:35):
That's so that's so much better than anything I thought of,
and I've been thinking for months on that.

Speaker 1 (34:42):
Okay, guys, thank you so much, And to all our listeners,
thank you guys for tuning into Better Happy Hour. Make
sure you download and subscribe to the podcast.

good luck on your guys this fertility journey. We're wishing
