Black Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson is urging residents to resist
Trump era immigration enforcement, calling it a necessary fight.

I am calling on all of Chicago to resist in
this moment because whatever particular vulnerable group is being targeted today,
another group will be next.

His comments come as the city prepares for possible federal
immigration rates, though he did not say how the city

The debate over immigration is in full effect today as
black Florida Representative Byron Donald's attempts to tear into Governors
Kathy Hochel and J. B. Pritsker during a House Silver
Side Committee hearing on sanctuary state governors. Here's an exchange
between Donald's and JB.

Pritzker.

Speaker 5 (01:42):
Governor Pritsker, how much does the State of Illinois spend
on illegal immigration every year?

Speaker 2 (01:46):
Illegal immigration? That's a federal responsibility. Governor.

Speaker 5 (01:50):
Don't you keep track of how many people are on
your Medicaid roles? How many people who are illegal immigrants
in the state of Illinois who are getting actually benefits
in your state?

Speaker 2 (01:58):
Doesn't your government keep track of that they don't get medicated.

Speaker 1 (02:01):
Then Donald's attempted to light into New York's governor, You
go along.

Speaker 5 (02:04):
With the strategy from the Biden administration, which massively expanded
immigration protocols that overwhelmed your city and overwhelmed your state.

Speaker 2 (02:12):
Do you agree with that.

Speaker 6 (02:12):
We call for secure borders, we call for this body.

Speaker 2 (02:15):
I've never remember. Are you calling for secure borders at all? Governors?
That doesn't sound like many conversations I had with the
White House.

Speaker 6 (02:23):
We asked for federal resources.

Speaker 1 (02:24):
I mean, you're putting a federal problem on our laps,
and you know what gets old. After all, I wish
you would just do your job. It's important to note
that Barack Obama, while he was in office, was nicknamed
the deeporter in Chief for exiting more undocumented immigrants than
any other president in the history of the United States,
and Republicans are expressing their disappointment over Democratic leaders who
feel they are downplaying the violence happening in some cities

during anti deportation protests and are blaming President Trump for
the chaos.

Speaker 6 (02:51):
Donald Trump knowingly is doing this.

Speaker 2 (02:53):
He is knowingly provoking chaos. He has to answer for
everything that has that has happened.

Speaker 3 (02:59):
He has a risk fonsibility in all of this.

Speaker 1 (03:01):
He started this. That should be no viole Phs. Secretary
Christy Noam, Governor Newsom, mayor Bass.

Speaker 3 (03:07):
You have to call an end to this violence.

Speaker 1 (03:09):
This rhetoric against our politicians and against our law enforcement
officers has gone way too far. Many Republicans are siding
with Trump's decision to send troops to Los Angeles, backing
up his effort to establish law and order in the
United States. And finally, if you haven't seen the new
Netflix movie titled Straw starring actress Taraji p Henson, you
are missing out on one powerful movie that dives into

the strength and resilient nature of a black woman struggling
to pull it all together in the face of adversity.
Singer Tianna Taylor co stars in the movie, playing an
empathetic detective who understands the Payne Henson's character is going through.
She touched on how amazing it was working with Tyler Perry,
who directed the film, while speaking on Today's Jenna and Friends.

like so grateful for him. And it was good to
make him proud, him getting to see me be a
young woman mother and you know this incredible like actions
or from whatever he considers me.
