tonight's final primary debate. But first, here's bin news.
Speaker 2 (00:24):
Now, about seven hundred Marines have been sent to Los
Angeles to support the National Guard, but are not on
the streets yet. They're expected to join by tomorrow.
Speaker 3 (00:33):
I pause it that maybe we are part of a
national experiment to determine how far the federal government can
go in reaching in and taking over power from a governor,
power from a local jurisdiction.
Speaker 2 (00:48):
Black Mayor Karen Bass reported two hundred arrest overnight and
says the White House is out of line. R Kelly's
lawyers are asking President Trump to free him, claiming a
neo Nazi gang member tried to kill him in prison,
say his life is in danger and want him moved
to home detention. Kelly is serving thirty years for racketeering
and sex trafficking, and starting January first, Oregon Health Plan
(01:09):
patients with severe illnesses like sickle cell disease will get
access to gene therapies. The state joined a federal effort
to lower costs. Sickle cell mostly affects black and Hispanic people,
with over half on Medicaid. I'm Inmber paytent with bi
in news now back to you, doug Hey.
Speaker 1 (01:23):
Thanks Zampra. House Republicans for pushing the cut nine point
four billion dollars in funding that was previously approved. House
Minority Leader Hakim Jeffreys held a news conference today explaining
the party's stance.
Speaker 4 (01:34):
From the very beginning of this Congress, House Democrats have
made clear that we will work with anyone in this
town who's interested in making life better for the American people.
House Democrats believe that America is too expensive. We're committed
to lowering housing costs, childcare costs, grocery costs, insurance costs,
and utility costs. There are far too many people in
the United States of America who are struggling to live
(01:57):
paycheck to paycheck. That should not have in the wealthiest
country in the history of the world.
Speaker 1 (02:02):
Jeffreys also said Trump's Big Beautiful Bill will deestimate the
deficit by more than three trillion dollars.
Speaker 4 (02:08):
And add trillions of dollars to our national debt, which
is already out of control because of reckless Republican spending
during the first Trump administration. Approximately twenty five percent or
so of our nation's debt in this country, a debt
that is out of control that we need to do
something about. Approximately twenty five percent of our nation's debt
was accumulated during Donald Trump's first four years in office.
Speaker 1 (02:29):
The decision package is part of a larger effort by
President Trump to slight spending. House Speaker Mike Johnson calls
it to move towards greater accountability and government. The outcome
of that vote could signal how aggressively the GOP plans
to pursue further budget cuts in the coming months. Meanwhile,
President Trump is doubling down on his claim the LAPD
welcome the National Guard to help deal with the anti
(02:50):
ice demonstrations. Chief Jim McConnell told CNN last night Trump's
claimed that he said we are very lucky to have
them was not true. Today, from the White House, Trump
suggested someone got McConnell to change a statement.
Speaker 5 (03:03):
He said, Oh, I think we could have handled so
sad he was so honest.
Speaker 3 (03:08):
So he's using his quote all over the place that
they got him to change.
Speaker 2 (03:11):
But he knows.
Speaker 1 (03:12):
Trump said again, LA would be burned to the ground
if it weren't for the National Guard and Marines. And finally,
prior to tonight's second and final New York City mayoral debate,
former black New York State Governor David Patterson says he's
been critical of former Governor Andrew Cuomo in the past,
but wants to see a more moderate Democrat as the
next mayor.
Speaker 5 (03:31):
The issue is bigger than my criticism. There seems to
be some movement in the Democratic Party toward the left,
like the far left, and I really don't want to
see that happen.
Speaker 1 (03:41):
This comes as front under former Governor Andrew Cromo scores
the endorsement of the former governor.
Speaker 5 (03:46):
He is the most organized public official that I've met
since I went into public service. I mean, his ability
to run the city is really, I think better than
any of the candidates.
Speaker 1 (03:58):
Cuomo also picked up endorsements from former New York City
mayor of Michael Bloomberg, and Keith Wright, the chairman of
the Manhattan Democratic Party. Seven Democrats, including Cromo, will debate
at seven o'clock tonight, hosted by New York One. Stay inform,
