Speaker 3 (01:45):
Good Friday, all across America. As we uh that are
of the Christian faith, remember the day that our debt
was paid, the debt that we could not pay impossible,
and finally all the burden of the law and the
(02:06):
standard of the sacrificial system was fulfilled. We believe by
Jesus Christ, who declared himself the Son of God and
the Messiah, that all the prophets had been forecasting. And
we believe that a lot of you believe that. If
you don't, that's certainly okay. But we will be celebrating
(02:29):
which is the most powerful weekend. We make much of Christmas,
and that's fine. God is with us and that is
something to celebrate. But without this weekend, it all doesn't
mean a whole lot. So this is where hope was
finally established for all who were willing to repent and
leave faith in themselves and place faith in Christ and
(02:51):
say thank you for paying my debt. And I believe
that you did, and I believe you're the only one
who met the requirement. So and if you have that peace,
enjoy that today. If you don't, maybe maybe ponder that today.
Maybe maybe think about that today. And and if you need,
need any questions answered, happy to try to do that
for you, either here on the show or certainly privately.
(03:13):
So Speedy, Greg and Adler, they're here checking fellows, check
to hey, check what to ready, and we will be
we will be playing back today on the program what
scripture has to say about the weekend. We'll do that
today as this is a, as I said, a very
special weekend. Now, a lot of people, you do not
(03:35):
have your kids in school today and you do not
have work today, Some do, some don't, So if you're
on a little bit different schedule, we welcome you and
maybe a different schedule to day, whether that be live
or archived. So we do have a lot to cover
the Vox seats. You know that this might have been
a good day if you were able to book a
ticket here because maybe you didn't have work to deal
(03:55):
with or your kids didn't have school. But so vox
seats will be full. There will be another Burgess ball battle.
Oh yeah, I do have I do have a question
about Burgess Ball in hey Burgs today And I can't
remember if we've discussed it or not, but they present
a Scenariokay, I can't remember if we've we've already decided
what we do about that, but anyway, it's an interesting question,
(04:18):
so we'll we'll get to that today. We'll update you
on the stories around the world. Also, and a lot
of you were sending us hey, did y'all see this?
Speaker 2 (04:26):
Guys? Did y'all see this? Did y'all see this?
Speaker 3 (04:29):
Those of you that may be new to the show,
I don't know if you're familiar with our friendship with
Charles Billingsley Charles Billingsley, very very talented man and is
sought after. We've done conferences with Charles. Charles been on
the show many times with his various albums and just
super super talented guy. And the most wonderful thing about
(04:50):
Charles is that he doesn't take himself seriously. He's willing
to cut up and be the butt of the joke.
Doesn't mind it at all.
Speaker 2 (04:57):
He better because you're going to get on it.
Speaker 3 (04:59):
Well, I enjoy getting on him, and he throws a
little back. Now he's he's too nice to go after
me to like he should. But so I know eventually
I'll be able to come out on top because a
kind response. Charles is not willing to get down there
and wrestle.
Speaker 2 (05:11):
In the mud with me.
Speaker 3 (05:12):
But he's too he's too good a human for that.
But anyway, he I mean, I'm talking about just like
day before yesterday was singing in the White House.
Speaker 2 (05:20):
It was he, and I was.
Speaker 3 (05:22):
Like, how did you end up at the White House.
So we will have Charles Billingsley himself from Virginia today,
which is where he lives. Now we do have an
issue because he said, yes, I want to come on
and cut up with you guys and tell you what
happened about my experience. But I'm also playing golf tomorrow
because I just got back home from that. So he's
(05:44):
he maybe I said, now look, we can't have.
Speaker 2 (05:46):
Bad said you give him the time or did he?
He gave me the time.
Speaker 3 (05:49):
I threw out even an earlier time, and he said
about how about this time?
Speaker 2 (05:53):
So here's about his golf. He very serious.
Speaker 3 (05:56):
So so Charles Billingsley, what was it like to go
to the White House and sing?
Speaker 2 (06:00):
Man? I know, it's just well you see people that
can sing, and you see him and you're like, good night.
Look at that. The President was extremely impressed, I mean clapping,
want to come over.
Speaker 3 (06:13):
Yes, the very first time, the very first time I
ever heard Charles Billingsley, he was attending Sanford University in Birmingham.
Speaker 2 (06:26):
I was. I had seen him a couple of times. Uh,
there's a church.
Speaker 3 (06:31):
There's a church in Birmingham called Brook Hills and and
he was there on the you know, praise team or whatever.
And I remember that because Cherry and I first moved
to Birmingham, so we were visiting different churches and we
had visited there and then Dairryberry came out with one
of his c d's, Kevin Deryberry, and there was a
song on there. Was it Stepping in Faith? Was that
(06:51):
the name of it? But anyway, there was another person
singing with him and I was like, who in the
world is that Deryberry? This voice just came in and
He's like.
Speaker 2 (07:00):
Yeah, you know, he just loved you.
Speaker 5 (07:02):
That that's jib ability and so so anyway, so I thought, okay,
that guy and then all of a sudden have you
ever had that day where then that person goes on
to have a bigger platform and you see them and
they and you start thinking, wait a minute, is that
the guy from from the Kevin Derybery song?
Speaker 3 (07:20):
And then I went to Kevin I said is this
the same guy? And he was like, yeah, that's him.
So you know when it all comes together. So yeah,
So Charles is a lot of fun, and he and
I doing men's conferences and him leading worship. We have
had a blast getting on each other. I mean, I
say getting on each other. What am I saying? Me
getting on Charles? Yeah, I mean he tries to volley back.
Speaker 2 (07:41):
Well yeh.
Speaker 3 (07:41):
What I've noticed is he waits like when he gets
to like a women's conference where I'm not there right
and then and then I'll start getting the emails from
the women. He's giving you a hard time to go.
Oh okay, yeah, well I think you'll be proud. I
was trying to pull up the picture again that he
posted on Instagram. But you'd be proud with what he
want war to the White House. I think you would approve,
(08:01):
because I know you're always very sensitive about what he wears.
Speaker 1 (08:04):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (08:04):
I took that on yesterday when he and I were
texting about him being on today, and he said, I
want you to know I had a pastel color on.
Speaker 2 (08:10):
I thought about you and I changed it. You know, Rick,
you actually wore that shirt you have on in honor
of Charles. Yes, I did.
Speaker 3 (08:16):
I wore this today so Charles would feel like. You know,
it's funny. When I pulled this off the rack today,
I said, well, let's select Greg have a good friend.
Speaker 2 (08:23):
I don't know, I'm not sure what that is all
over it, but it's a fish. A fish, got a fish,
so I got a shirt. Fish. I'm sorry, never mind,
So look like island. Yeah, an island. These are little
islands all over sow about serious though the President Trump
was so impressed with what Charles performing he got up
(08:44):
from the table, walked across the room and wanted to
shake his hand. Well you will if you hear Charles
soon he said that was beautiful. You know, Trump, he
can sing. Uh, some of you don't know that. Unbelievable.
Speaker 6 (08:55):
I did not realize the extent to this, of this,
of this whole interaction with Charles Billings Trump, y'all.
Speaker 2 (09:01):
I know, what do you think about? Okay? Is that
President Trump? And we can bring this back to He's
gonna be He's gonna be a combination. And you've just
combined Kevin music and and a little bit of a
Pat Patrick Larry. Oh yeah, we'll do that.
Speaker 7 (09:22):
President.
Speaker 8 (09:23):
We want to just thank you for your strong stance
and for honoring the way it should be honored.
Speaker 2 (09:29):
So we're very grateful, sir, Thank you.
Speaker 6 (09:32):
I want to give you an old song. Yes, sir, Oh,
he's going up to it.
Speaker 2 (09:35):
He's going on there he goes Trump boy boy Charles, Charles.
Of course, Charles, he knew what he was doing, bragg
on Trump, and he loves it. We just not enjoyed
that brand. That's not why I got up and I
(09:59):
just thought he get it's fabulous. Yeah, he thinks I'm something.
We'll be right now. I don't know who that is.
You did not even trying.
Speaker 1 (10:13):
This is the Rick Burgess Show. America sleeps well every
night just knowing these four men are on the air,
(10:35):
The Rick Burgess Show.
Speaker 2 (10:39):
Yeah, sleep well, America. We're back. You're good.
Speaker 3 (10:42):
All right, So so much to cover today, but first
I must.
Speaker 2 (10:45):
Point you to one of the things.
Speaker 3 (10:48):
It's just a fact of life and no fall in
creation that seems to get sometimes darker by the day,
and that is securing your property and protecting the ones
that you love and yourself. Simply safe dot com slash
big box there, that's the king of security. It's not
going to get any better than that. It really isn't.
(11:08):
When it comes to security systems, they are on the
cutting edge of technology, using all the latest technology to
make security systems even better and really easier to customize
to the property and really be less intrusive on the property.
As a matter of fact, even if you're renting, your
(11:29):
landlord will allow you to put in a simply safe
system because you can take it with you when you go.
When you decide to maybe get your own place, or whatever.
So simply safe dot com slash big box now right
now you want, you want to go to that ur
L or use the link at Rick burgesshow dot com
because we're going to get you fifty percent off a
(11:50):
new system. Now that's with a professional monitoring plan, but
you got to have that anyway you want that, and
the first month of that'll be free. And they monitor
with live guard protection, meaning that the people monitoring the
property can actually interact with the property in real time
thanks to AI technology. Yeah, and they can interact with
(12:12):
an intruder, what are you doing here?
Speaker 2 (12:13):
Hey? Does birds know you're here? Who are you?
Speaker 3 (12:17):
And then if there's trouble, they can call an emergency
for fires and floods and even a medical emergency carbon
monoxide poisoning. So go to simplysafe dot com slash big
box and take control of your safety today at fifty
percent off on a new system with a monitoring plan.
There's no safe like simplysafe dot com slash big vox.
(12:39):
So we do have some things to update you on.
One week from yesterday in Birmingham, Alabama, the home of
one four one O four to seven w ZZK historic
rickwood Field, the likes of Willie Mays playing there.
Speaker 2 (12:55):
Oh, yeah, you know you go back.
Speaker 3 (12:58):
I mean there is just a history of the people
that have played at rick Wood Field. Uh, and Willie
just being one but a four pm. Uh, there will
be a celebrity softball game raising money for the American
Baseball or really bringing awareness because it's free to come,
bringing awareness to the American Baseball Foundation. You'll find out
(13:19):
everything you want to know about that while we're there
in the great work that they do. So I got
an update from Casey yesterday. He's heard about the injury. Oh,
he's heard about the injury.
Speaker 2 (13:30):
Did you deal that with this your whole life? And
he says, uh said up drama.
Speaker 3 (13:35):
He said the last second, he's gonna come strolling out
there battling injury and uh it is Uh, I mean
we come.
Speaker 2 (13:43):
I'm persevering through. This shouldn't be here, but I'm going
to be the hero is here.
Speaker 3 (13:49):
You know I learned this from Don't You Evil Canevel.
Speaker 2 (13:51):
Yes, this is the last jump. I'll never be back.
What was funny? This is the last year.
Speaker 3 (14:00):
I mean, what's what was funny on the Evil Canevral
documentary Because he came on again the other day and
I watched it.
Speaker 2 (14:05):
I love any Evil canievel documentaries. They're awesome.
Speaker 3 (14:08):
Well, what was funny about it is the guy and
I forget what network it was. It might have been ABC,
And he said, we had this huge audience when he
crashed in London and he claimed he would never do
it again.
Speaker 2 (14:18):
They're holding him up.
Speaker 3 (14:19):
And then he said, then he sued us for saying
he said, and for playing that. He said he wasn't
gonna jump again because because he decided to jump again. Yeah,
and he was like, don't be playing that. I said,
I wasn't going to jump gets but.
Speaker 2 (14:31):
You did say that. The whole world was.
Speaker 3 (14:33):
Watching the Evil caneval story and background and I can't
remember here I'm going somewhere. I'm not sure, but I
think he started out as some kind of hockey player.
Speaker 2 (14:43):
What something to do with hockey. I don't know. I
don't have made that up. But anyway, I love any
evil canieval documentary. Oh yeah, they're the best.
Speaker 3 (14:52):
So uh, anyway, talking to him now, this is not
going to happen.
Speaker 2 (14:57):
And this is just casey. I said, Casey, I think
that I'll be able to bat I said, I don't
I'm not going to be able to throw overhanded there
there don't seem to be. He's gonna drop the expectation and.
Speaker 3 (15:08):
Exceeds them, right, And I said, but I can still
play the one bag and then he said it and
I had no way am I doing this, especially when
I found out a lot of these are ex pro players. Yeah,
he said, it's forty four ever told the rubber before.
I'm like, no, no, no, I'm not. I'm not pitching.
Uh no, he said, Because then to just be all underhanded,
I said, new new. If you think I'm going to
(15:29):
take my sixty year old self and stand on that
rubber with these guys hitting.
Speaker 2 (15:33):
News, I've never yeah in softball, you've never know. Yeah,
you pitch it and then run back about six seventh
that yeah, yeah, Now I did take the mound one
time and my my glorious Bronco All Star season, I
was there. I was on the team. Yeah. Remember that's
when we used to fight on the field.
Speaker 3 (15:51):
It was one that we had this We had this coacher. Yeah, listen,
we have we had this coach that was was great. Listen,
he was phenomenal. He coached third base in a chair. Yeah,
like you would sit out on the beach like you
set out, like you set out for the lawnchaer a launchaer.
He'd bring it out and sit on on third and
(16:12):
then at practices he would cook like grill out over
there and would wear like a shirt kind of like
I've got on and uh, you know, and like I said,
you know, we grew up. We thought if you smelled
beer on a man that many coached little leg yeah,
it was some sort of Little League cologne. He didn't
even wear the hat that was you know, he didn't
(16:32):
even wear a hat like our team hat. He had
a hat on this some lounge. He played softball on
his hand and we had a ball.
Speaker 2 (16:40):
Yeah, I'm smoking like no tomorrow. Oh yeah. And mom
was the team shorts always and he would reach out
and go to tell you, what, how about this practice?
We need some homemade ice cream? Yeah, you'd come out
and make homemade ice I mean it was great.
Speaker 3 (16:53):
So there were two teams that dominated that year and
we were like the next It's like there were two
teams we couldn't beat, and then we beat everybody.
Speaker 9 (16:59):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (17:00):
But anyway, he had fun. So that was when I
had that great that growth spurt.
Speaker 2 (17:04):
So that's when. That's when I coach.
Speaker 3 (17:06):
Yeah, I was taller than the coaches and I was
twelve and so so he he had I'd never pitched ever,
you know, I've always just played played the one bag
or outfield when I was normal size.
Speaker 9 (17:17):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (17:17):
And so so he we're in this game, and he
and the guy for the other team, they knew each other.
It just turned into like a this game doesn't matter.
Everybody knows where they are in the playoffs, and it
just became a free for all. At one point the
ump let somebody ump and when and and he went
and coach, you know, we were just goofing off, and
he goes, hey, Birch, once you get on the mountain
and throw some and and so I went on the
(17:38):
mound and did the whole deal where remember the bird
Mark Fidrich when he talked to the ball, and I
would talk to the ball and got up there and
of course three up, three down. But I mean, uh,
and I can pretty good.
Speaker 2 (17:49):
I can't. I can remember three remember that.
Speaker 3 (17:52):
Of course I remember the coach to in his seth
for a moment, and I had no nobody had ever
coached me on it at all. I was just what
I did in the backyard, and I remember, I think
it was so late in the season. I told you
they kind of thought maybe I should have roptated that
kid picture. I've got this, I've got this nephelum in
the league, and I Am not letting them throw it.
Speaker 2 (18:12):
Just you standing there is intimidating to but really do
so you talked to the ball.
Speaker 3 (18:17):
I did a whole show out there for aboudyl you
ball before banana ball was banana.
Speaker 2 (18:22):
Of course I went yardwise, but I mean the so.
Speaker 3 (18:27):
You said it was one two three, and that's that's
the only emmy I ever pitched in my entire love.
But it ain't no way. I'm slow pitched, underhanding.
Speaker 2 (18:38):
No, no, I won't even let you do it. We'll
be right back.
Speaker 1 (18:43):
This is the Rick Burgess Show.
Speaker 2 (18:47):

Apparently the shirt you have on today, if you look closer,
those little things on your shirt are actually pictures of
a super.
Speaker 2 (21:25):
Funny you know what text nation.
Speaker 3 (21:27):
You know what if you had a pair of matching
pants to go that you rest.
Speaker 2 (21:32):
I also have the same.
Speaker 3 (21:34):
Color, same everything, really if I mean, look a lot
like pajamas. But I know, And the first thing is
I stepped down.
Speaker 2 (21:43):
Say stand up, stand up and sh do y'all know
how many shirts are hanging in my closet. I never
wear here because they're not a solid color. It's like,
if you well, you know what I'm saying, just basic,
if you got some little whatever that is, he's gotten on.
There's one thing I thought to myself. I'm not defending that.
I'm just saying, and there's shirts that I don't wear
that I'm like, well, there's no way I can get
(22:03):
through that. Rick. It's got more than black, black, or
blue or red in it. I can't wear it.
Speaker 3 (22:09):
Rick was sleepy and he changed his pajama pants out.
But if we got to change his shirt out, have
you ever shirt? Have you ever been beat up by
guy in his pajama? I can't recall it, but anyway,
but I will say this, I thought incorrectly, Rick little
Aaron opportunity. I thought it was all standing between that.
(22:29):
I thought incorrectly, honestly had this thought. This is not
even me trying to do a bit for the show.
I honestly thought, well today he'll be in a different mood.
It's good friend.
Speaker 2 (22:38):
Yeah, lasted five minutes. You should have took good Friday
more serious. Before you picked that shirt. You knew it
was gonna call his turnover. You know, is it because
he's injured? Do you think you can get him?
Speaker 10 (22:49):
Now?
Speaker 2 (22:50):
Get my arm hairs a little bit.
Speaker 3 (22:52):
I will tell you this. You know what I need
to learn from the one arm bend. Here's what I
need to learn today. Jesus, Grace and mercy. Greg not
so much, not so much, not grace over there?
Speaker 2 (23:03):
Did you mean to get that shirt?
Speaker 3 (23:05):
I have been waiting for it to be springy enough
to wear. I realize, you know, in the fall, I
wear more earthy covers.
Speaker 11 (23:19):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (23:19):
You know the my thought process. I looked up and
I'm like, I already wore that too much? And uh
I went with this. I almost I almost went because
tell me we.
Speaker 2 (23:28):
Got three shirts and I just wrote that.
Speaker 3 (23:30):
I want to ask you'all opinion on this when it
comes to staff shirts, okay, which you can get one
of our staff shirts now in the store yourself.
Speaker 2 (23:36):
So Gary about that yesterday? Boy, he's really into that story.
I mean, I guess I ain't gonna get no staff shirt.
Do you want him at Reges or not? He said
he needs a staff shirt him at Regions and staff shirt.
He's there, he's there, He's gonna come here and ride
in with Rick.
Speaker 12 (23:48):
Oh.
Speaker 3 (23:48):
Yes, he's already told me, Hey, I want to go.
I want to go when y'all do that show on
location you know about golf, And I'm like, what are
you talking about? You know what thing y'all do. Can
we let him interview you a bartloo please?
Speaker 2 (24:03):
Normally? And he's out, he's gonna be there for the Longhime. Yeah,
and he's gonna wish he hadn't gonna get breakfast.
Speaker 3 (24:12):
Hey, I mean, I ain't gotta come if you don't
want me to. Ain't don't matter to me. But everywhere
I go, everybody says he's gonna be a bro willman ain't.
Speaker 2 (24:20):
So he trails off sometimes.
Speaker 10 (24:26):
No.
Speaker 3 (24:27):
But the when I was really when I was thinking
about staff shirts, and this is one that my my
one thing was that I thought, well, I wore a
staff shirt yesterday, the blue, Yeah, and I almost went
with the gray today. But there was some unwritten rule.
I thought, can you work a staff shirt two days
in a row, if it's two different staff shirts?
Speaker 2 (24:45):
We got to go to gregg? Yes, you can if
I do different completely.
Speaker 3 (24:49):
So you're telling me if I came in with the
staff shirt on, you going, hey, you run through the
staff shirt.
Speaker 2 (24:53):
I'm to ask you if we had uniforms and now
we're supposed to wear, I'd have done that.
Speaker 3 (24:56):
But so I know there was no win for me. No, No,
I think that's not a foul though. Right, I'll be
honest with you. I'd rather caught grief over wearing another
staff shirt as opposed to wearing that one. Okay, so
that if it was up to anything, if it was
up to you, would this shirt be done as far
as work is concerned.
Speaker 2 (25:15):
It's a lot of bad shirt.
Speaker 3 (25:16):
Only allowed to wear it on vacation. Oh yeah, you
can wear it on vacation. It's a vacation shirt while
you're in the cabana. But I locked my shirt.
Speaker 2 (25:25):
No, I ain't nothing wrong you wear it. I lost
some weight, got a new style about me. Greg, don't
have a new size. I got a new style. Okay,
are you all right? I was just showed him how
MU shoulder shirts. I know he doesn't care. He cares
more about the size the shirt you're wearing.
Speaker 3 (25:43):
By the way, this person said they picked up on
a pattern and they were waiting on the cameo shirt
on Friday.
Speaker 2 (25:47):
Because that's my normal. I will wear a cameo shirt
on Friday. About if you want to beat me up
about not having a lot of shirts, and then that's
the valid. Now, Lisa did she pulled the thing we
always said we like, there's a style of shirt. She
bought me like five of them, and she did it.
That's what we normally do, right there. That one, Uh no, okay,
but one I wore yesterday, I think. So, I.
Speaker 3 (26:10):
Know Easter this weekend. I know Easter this weekend. We're
splitting up. You've got your grandkids and your kids now hosting.
Speaker 2 (26:17):
Are you all going? So now we're going We're doing both.
It's going going to Taylor and Kelsey Saturday and then
and then channel of them will be with the Joneses
and then channel them back. Anyway, we're swapping up. But
you don't have to host them their houses. No, yeah,
at my house. I go to there have ones at
my house. It's so confusing. A ready, I can't what
(26:37):
the heck are you hosting?
Speaker 3 (26:38):
I've got the rest got something going Saturday end, Sunday,
you know, and it's at my house on one of
those days.
Speaker 2 (26:44):
I don't even know.
Speaker 6 (26:44):
You don't know what one of those days.
Speaker 3 (26:46):
My wife has become we're hosting the rest of the
family at our house, and my wife has turned into
it's like, I don't really, I'm not really I don't
know where she is. She's never in the house. There's
this woman that is some gardening all over our yard.
She never comes in. I mean when I when I
(27:08):
get she's she's out there planting a shrub, planting a tree,
planting a flower.
Speaker 2 (27:14):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (27:15):
And she's become obsessed with hosing off the driveway and
then blowing off any leaves. And I'm like, I'm supposed
to be doing the lee blowing things. She goes and
I love lee blowing and she gets the lee blower
out and just I mean it's like it's non stop.
And this has been going on every day this week.
And me too. I said, Baby, I don't want to
(27:37):
the leaves.
Speaker 2 (27:38):
There's still some leaves and stuff that's blowing around and
those little things. I said, most of the pollen. It's
gotten better. Is it still it's.
Speaker 3 (27:45):
Better because it's my vehicles, not it's better, but it's
still there. What I'm talking about is everything you just did,
as far as the pool, the driveway. You know, it's
just going to be back here tomorrow. Why don't we
just do that Friday, yeah, or Saturday before because we're
going to a service tonight. We're taking Mom to that
and I think I think one of my kids is
(28:07):
going uh, and then and then then Saturday, Big Love
comes in from Atlanta. And then Sunday we go to church,
Mom and two of the boys, one wife, Sissy, our
sister and her kids are coming and Mama, and then
(28:28):
we're going over after church to eat at our house.
And we're and we're doing the most gentile thing you
can do. You talk about celebrating the New Covenant. We're
having ham Oh yeah, and brands grafted in gentile.
Speaker 2 (28:41):
Hello, Hebrews, the Gentiles are here. Did you throw? You
were getting your mom in there a bunch of times
to kind of dig at him a little bit, because
I saw that getting Mom. I'm getting Mom.
Speaker 8 (28:53):
I can't.
Speaker 2 (28:54):
I can't go after him.
Speaker 3 (28:55):
Mom's to the point she's she's she's moved Gregg up
to the one slot in his I an apology.
Speaker 2 (29:00):
I look about it now.
Speaker 3 (29:00):
Yeah, you know what she said yesterday quote no exaggeration,
zero exaggeration. Hey, mom, just let's get our plan for
the weekend, because we had invited mob just to come
spend the night at our house the whole weekend and
she didn't want to do that. Shed because women just
I'll have to dress up and we have all our
stuff in our bathroom. I only live fifteen minutes from you.
If I live further away, then I would do that.
Speaker 2 (29:21):
Ma'am. That's it. And I mean, I'm trying to.
Speaker 3 (29:23):
I thought, well, I'm gonna care on the conversation with hey, Rick,
let me ask you something. Okay, has Greg left? You
had to see it on his well over here? I said, just, ma'am,
he just left, Okay, all right, So all right, well
I'll see. And I was like, I just got wrapped up. Yeah,
I just got wrapped up. Is Greg on his way?
And yeah, I got a bonus. They got to visit
with coach ROLLINGD. Houston and Ya Katie, his daughter. They
(29:44):
came buy to visit Mom and we got to talked.
Speaker 2 (29:46):
Wow.
Speaker 3 (29:46):
He had brought off scrap books from the high school
days of football and some of the college Did you
sit down and kind of good scrap book? Did you
sit down this summer a little simmer a little bit
in the glory of seventy five?
Speaker 2 (29:58):
No, we didn't spend as many time on that as
you would have, but yeah, probably a lot of pictures
of it in there.
Speaker 10 (30:03):
There.
Speaker 2 (30:04):
There was a couple actually some of them, some of
them well even we waved before our time. Oh really, Now,
what he's talking about is coach ROLLINGD. Houston.
Speaker 3 (30:11):
If you don't know that coach with our dad. Wow,
for a long time, pretty mom was at Oxford High
School and Jacksonville State. He was also my position coach
in high school.
Speaker 2 (30:22):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (30:23):
Uh, And and he went on to be head coach
at a lot of school a lot of School's a
great man. And but he has a lot of scrap
books from all the years of coach with dad. So
he's been bringing those by and let mom see them,
which is him. And as the daughter Katie came by, Yeah.
Speaker 2 (30:34):
Which is cool. So we had to do all that
with you, min Yeah. So look at that, No, look
at that.
Speaker 3 (30:41):
No, it was clear when I got wrapped up by
Mom when I thought, I'm gonna sit here and talk
to you a minute.
Speaker 2 (30:45):
Okay, got through his chick and I got some of
that to him. Bro wow, speedy.
Speaker 3 (30:50):
So what time are y'all gonna pick me up tomorrow?
Mom will probably pick you up about fourth they Okay,
is great. On his way, yes, ma'am, yeh, yeah, he's
gonna come over here. Yes, ma'am, I know I'll see
you this weekend. It's Greg on his way.
Speaker 2 (31:07):
My dust. We'll let me ask you questions. You have
to have that Guthries in the truck and wait to
eat till you got their place. Yes, with that torture
you smell it? Did you get in it? I did not,
but I didn't maybe one one prime.
Speaker 1 (31:24):
This is the Rick Burchers show.
Speaker 2 (31:36):
I get to live.
Speaker 13 (31:36):
Little devil didn't marble hayt.
Speaker 1 (31:39):
That's like me, could never be saved.
Speaker 2 (31:41):
Whatever the thing changed.
Speaker 13 (31:42):
I remember the day when I heard him calling my day,
my good beat him moday.
Speaker 2 (31:48):
He stuck into my life. I was dead.
Speaker 8 (31:52):
Now I'm alive and singing.
Speaker 4 (31:56):
I got stole him by the grave, Robert, pick me
up from that, bte me back to line.
Speaker 2 (32:06):
Crowder brings us back.
Speaker 3 (32:07):
For those of you that aren't watching on YouTube, Grave Robert,
have you good Friday to you. We'll celebrate no longer
coming up a little bit later on in the show. Today,
hopefully we have an incredible weekend uh together with family

be here. We'll have a Burgess Ball Battle today as well.
So and we mentioned that we will be participating in
Birmingham next Thursday at rick Wood Field for the game,
the charity Softball Game.
Speaker 2 (32:48):
Of course, I'll be playing hurt, but I'm gonna push
through it. I'm gonna push through it. Uh.
Speaker 3 (32:52):
And four pm it starts. You can come hang out
before that. Uh, we'll be doing pre game and stuff
about three. I think they have a press friendship one thirty.
From what I heard from Casey, they will be announcing
the lineups next week. So well, I don't know whose
team I'm them. I know Dunaway might.
Speaker 2 (33:10):
Be part of it. Oh, cool, be great seeing him.
I don't know where he landed on that. I'm just
there's a lot. We won't break it down now. But
you mean you've you've said we're broadcasting it. You are broadcasting.
You're on the p A N c J.
Speaker 7 (33:23):
The d J.
Speaker 2 (33:25):
C J is good. He is very good. But so
we're gonna have two mics because Greg's right there with me, right,
he's color, he's color.
Speaker 14 (33:35):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (33:35):
We don't even know who the roster is. And you're
you're play by player. I'm going to Casey. I'm getting
around you.
Speaker 3 (33:40):
You know you're like Pa guys you announced people coming out.
You'll have a little going around. Casey, I'm a contact.
Speaker 6 (33:44):
Do you all need a sideline reporter?
Speaker 3 (33:46):
You know you're singing. You may be singing the national land. Yeah,
but we are world and he can do something.
Speaker 2 (33:51):
After that. We are going to go to you like
you're gonna be on the field.
Speaker 6 (33:53):
Yeah, I'll go. I'll be on the field.
Speaker 3 (33:55):
Do you have any baseball gear of any kind?
Speaker 6 (33:57):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (33:57):
Yeah? Could you? Could you suit up and be my
pinch runner? Yes?
Speaker 6 (34:01):
Yeah, I've got one of those plastic te ball teas,
nice and a plastic bag. Bring that warm up nice?
Speaker 2 (34:08):
Rick U remind me, will you text me maybe Sunday
late and remind me to bring a glove in for you.
We need to work on your picks. I've already got
I've already.
Speaker 3 (34:17):
Got my my bat and glover reay to go, and
I'd like to wear one of the revived bat and
gloves under the glove too, over at one bag so
the people may bring it over with all intentionally.
Speaker 10 (34:25):
You.
Speaker 3 (34:26):
I started thinking myself, I can't remember the last time
that I caught a ball that.
Speaker 2 (34:30):
Was being thrown at me with a glove or swung
a baseball. Batting, you're prepared for this ball. You need
to play catch a little bit because that ball gets
on you a little bit. I know it does. Yeah,
I forget it.
Speaker 6 (34:40):
Gimped up and don't run. You've seen people they'll they'll
lean over to get the ball as it's coming, like
a line drive or whatever, and they're leaning while they're running.
Run get there and then go down for it. Don't
be running with your globe doom.
Speaker 2 (34:55):
Look dude, I'm playing for space. I won't be doing
any of that. I'm just saying they're throwing it over
to me.
Speaker 6 (35:00):
Speeding knows what I'm talking about. We're just talking ball.
Speaker 2 (35:02):
Let me tell you what talk my my entire.
Speaker 3 (35:07):
We're not very illustrious, uh, playing of first space in
baseball and softball. I can handle the glove pretty well,
but when it comes to grounders, not a great infielder.
Speaker 6 (35:19):
You got to get behind it, square up.
Speaker 3 (35:20):
I just try to knock it down. It's not pretty hitching,
it's not pretty.
Speaker 6 (35:24):
Knock it down.
Speaker 3 (35:25):
Yeah, just you get your body in front of it. Yes,
so it bounces up and hit you in the chest.
You get and watch down below.
Speaker 2 (35:31):
Watch you gott you wear cup on first base, you
know the first baseman's hit ground balls.
Speaker 3 (35:40):
I know, but get you one like a guy cameo,
you swear and wear it over your pants.
Speaker 4 (35:45):
Yeah, what if?
Speaker 2 (35:49):
What if I walk up, walk up?
Speaker 3 (35:52):
Zone was word up and I had it on the outside.
Speaker 2 (35:57):
I'll play that. Payper that when you when you're rolling
around the ground going so we'll be working. Last night
you were a cup and we played something I didn't
because I was in there. So last night around dinner, Uh,
we were sitting down to eat and and I was
(36:18):
on Netflix and I was like, hey, what you want
to watch? You will do that? And and uh this,
uh this documentary The Twister came up. The Twister caught
in the storm. Do you remember the Twister that went
through Joplin, Missouri and tes two thousand US, Yes, and
tour that city to horrible, horrible, awful. You're talking about Greg,
(36:38):
I thought about you. Well, first of all, you know,
I love anything like this. I don't love that it happened,
but just just weather in general. And and like Twister
the movie is the greatest pressure stuff like that. This
was one of the best documentaries I've seen when it
comes to real events and Greg Burgess, you got some
characters in there, Okay, I mean you got to think,
(36:59):
oh yeah, oh yeah, and excuse there every now and
then there's a little bit of language in the description
of what's going on, and then they actually have they
have footage and audio of when it was all happening
and the reaction is is there. There's a little bit
of language in there, but the detail and the people
they interview, they even interview the meteorologist that was there
(37:20):
and was live covering it. That entire situation was way
more than I ever thought it was. This This was
a well done documentary and it's like you were in
the tornado.
Speaker 3 (37:32):
Yeah, I remember it because you know, and I don't.
I don't think we still have them are and are
I don't know if they made it all the way
to the end of the Rick and Bubby years, but
you know, we had an affiliate in Joplin and when
that happened, so I remember that and just devastating and
also knew people that had family yeah there, and it
was it was devastating I think some people.
Speaker 2 (37:55):
So that documentary must have just come out, did it well,
I don't know if it just came out of it
popped up on the popular thing and I don't know
if it's been out for a while or not.
Speaker 3 (38:04):
But the reason why the twister caught in the storm,
the reason why I asked. I noticed there were some
meteorologists on their social media posting with that, not not that,
but what that day looked like, right, and they were
showing what it like on radar. Yes, oh my goodness, yeah,
the U is It was in May twenty eleven, a
massive tornado ripped through Joppelin, Missouri, and it even went
(38:25):
through it. Like was interviewing some of the high school
students because you know, graduation had just finished and they're
all coming out of graduation and the tornado sirens are running.
Speaker 2 (38:36):
They're like, what's up, what's going on? And so you
have that aspect. Then you have some some guys that
are just out partying and in the in the truck
and they don't know what's happening, and then they start
getting calls from their parents going, hey, by the way,
there's the sirens are going off. There's a massive tornado
headed this way. But you have different different aspects from
(38:56):
different people that were in the town doing different things.
But the biggest one will. I mean, there was a
high school graduation that gymnation and they all come out. Yeah,
but they all come out and it's like, what's happening.
And one of the one of the dads, called one
of the sons and he's being interviewed in this and
he said, and he could tell by his voice, he said, hey, son,
(39:17):
there's a there's a tornador headed this way. You need,
I know you were going to do some post graduation stuff.
You need to get home. And he got home just
in time. Wow. But it was crazy because then you
have someone else that was just at a dinner a
quarter mile from where it went through and ripped through
this and they were fine. And so they came out
of the diner going, man, I'm glad it missed the
city and they're like no, And there's cars beat up,
(39:39):
looked like it had been in a war, and people
are getting out all bloody, going man, this the city's gone.
But the it is absolutely pulse pounding first hand footage.
It is bad. It's bad stuff.
Speaker 3 (39:52):
So unlike the movie Twister that you love, this is
the real deal. This is the real deal. This is
the real deal.
Speaker 2 (39:57):
Okay, Well it is on Netflix, yes, and what was
it called. It's called the twister Caught in the storm.
And again, the only thing is that some of the
actual footage has a little bit of language from them
responding and stuff like that, and they could have done
without that, but it was in there.
Speaker 3 (40:15):
But my gracious, when we come back two hundred and
fifty years ago today, what happened two hundred and fifty
years ago today, we'll talk about that and we come back.
Speaker 1 (40:29):

Speaker 2 (42:37):
Are you ready?
Speaker 3 (42:41):
So it is Good Friday and we'll be talking more
about that as we go forward. But also today a
special celebration for America two hundred and fifty years ago today,
how about that Paul Revere's famous midnight rock wow. You know,
we celebrate our nation's two hundred and fiftieth birthday in
(43:04):
twenty twenty six, but the midnight ride was two hundred
and fifty years ago. Today the British are coming. They're coming,
and so what we're doing down at the farm today
is we will have Gary will ride actually a donkey
down down one of the county roads in our in
(43:24):
our county.
Speaker 2 (43:25):
Hey, British is coming and red coats. It's coming.
Speaker 3 (43:29):
So you remember the signal that we were looking for
on the message was it was you know one or
two one two by sea?
Speaker 8 (43:38):
Wow?
Speaker 2 (43:39):
What's that?
Speaker 3 (43:40):
And we we know that Paul saw the two if
by sea and he was off and running. So today
all across America, people are shining two lights for liberty.
Speaker 2 (43:51):
Greg you remember you did a great thank Yeah you
did Rick video about it, right, So it made me
stand out and do the pledge.
Speaker 3 (43:59):
L I noticed no one here shotting two lights, So
I didn't have a lot of impact for that. But
we also which you've heard miss Kay many years on
the Rick and Bubba show, that is the governor of Alabama.
And so you know there were people at different states
doing different things. In our state, they were asking some
(44:22):
of us to do something and you know, working along
with the American Village, which is an incredible place to
go if you've never been there, that just lays out history.
You just watch it come alive at this wonderful place.
But so the Governor of Alabama also is reminding Alabamians
and Americans about this celebration today and the here she
(44:46):
is a social community.
Speaker 2 (44:47):
In her own words, here here we go.
Speaker 15 (44:49):
My fellow Alabamians. On April the eighteenth, we will marked
two hundred and fifty years since Paulvill's famous midnight ride
which sparked Co's fight for freedom. Through Alabama's two Lights
for Tomorrow initiative, I'm inviting all to pauls and reflect
on the values that built this great nation. Courage, perseverance,
(45:14):
and liberty for all. Right, as we approach the two
hundred and fiftieth anniversary of the Declaration of Independence at
twenty twenty six, that's how of the past and recommit
to building a brighter future. So on April eighteenth, join
us shine your two lights, and let's celebrate the enduring
(45:37):
spirit of America and people.
Speaker 2 (45:39):
Amen.
Speaker 15 (45:40):
May God bless Alabama and bless the United States of America.
Speaker 3 (45:46):
Real time and there you go in US and Alabama,
and I know I'm beaming, yes, thank you, governor, Yeah,
there it is.
Speaker 2 (45:54):
Thank you. That lipstick matches that jacket perfectly as she tops.
Speaker 3 (46:00):
But ye great great can anybody outstep a high step?
Speaker 2 (46:05):
They can't do it, not her, evidently not.
Speaker 6 (46:08):
I thought our I thought our person that calls in
as k I it was exaggerating. It's not an exaggerating.
Speaker 2 (46:15):
No, it's not. Because that's that's it, that's real.
Speaker 6 (46:19):
I don't know if we can legally say that, yeah,
what are talking about? I don't know if we can.
Speaker 2 (46:25):
That's what she said.
Speaker 3 (46:26):
I step up, miss miss k the alert and you
you keep using the wrong thing to to be factually correct.
The governor of Alabama actually attended Auburn alban A.
Speaker 2 (46:38):
Just right, that's right, and went to jud and hell,
you know, I always.
Speaker 3 (46:44):
I always complained in movies when they have somebody from
the South and their accent is exaggerated, not necessarily, not necessarily,
not always depends on which part of the stage you look.
That is correct. You're not wrong with that, even saying
you've got a different accent. Yeah, and what you had
there with our is you have Gary. That's an accent
that is country. Yes, hey, you might hear that anywhere. Yeah,
(47:07):
if you're out in rural Americans, what you heard here
with the governor is a true old Southern accent, which
is different it is. You find that, and the movies
tend to go that route. If you find that down now,
Montgomery and your mother and your father and the government.
Speaker 2 (47:26):
I got a little work to do.
Speaker 3 (47:26):
I need to bro your hammer right if you can
have me the hammer, governor.
Speaker 2 (47:31):
Have me the haima golfin now. No, nobody, that's nobody
sounds like that. Nobody sounds like that.
Speaker 10 (47:37):
You know.
Speaker 2 (47:37):
It's someone with the head injury, that's it.
Speaker 3 (47:40):
So anyway, so anyway, uh, America remember that, I'll say.
Speaker 2 (47:46):
Yeah. So, so it.
Speaker 3 (47:48):
Is two lights, two lights right now, and they're inviting
Americans all over the country two like two lights. And
we are acknowledging that this was this was a call
to action, from a call to action, America's fight for free.
Speaker 2 (48:08):
When I was a kid, I loved that story. I
was all fired about it.
Speaker 3 (48:11):
Oh sure, everybody wanted to and then uh, and then
of course we also are calling that we will continue
to have an enduring.
Speaker 2 (48:22):
Passion to protect our liberty. That's right. So that's about
that today.
Speaker 3 (48:28):
You better think about it today. A lot to think
about today. You've got you've got America the country, the
call to action to fight for freedom. And then you've
got for those of us in the Christian faith and
we believe this to be true. Uh that also ultimate
freedom was given by our Lord and Savior of Jesus Christ,
who paid the debt to set us eternally free.
Speaker 2 (48:51):
A lot of freedom today.
Speaker 11 (48:54):
Today.
Speaker 2 (48:54):
So you ought to be in a better mood.
Speaker 6 (48:56):
Yeah, Greg, I've got a statue of liberty costume that
we can put you in and be great.
Speaker 2 (49:00):
Yeah, you're gonna face silver, Yes, yes, yeah, I love that.
I wish we had Oh if we had that, I'm
mad that yous it?
Speaker 3 (49:08):
And can I give you a heads up, speedy on
what just happened with you just seconds ago?
Speaker 2 (49:13):
This is Greg in a good mood.
Speaker 3 (49:14):
Oh okay, well right right, Rick, I'm giggling.
Speaker 2 (49:22):
He's beside himself. He got next hours later, Yes he did.
I got him later than I normally. What happened? I
just I got talking. He went to Ellis's baseball game
last night, right, but I thought you would have He
was at partying at the ballpark.
Speaker 3 (49:37):
Okay, what is this the second half of the season
because didn't have some tournament. Yeah, yes, back to regular season. Okay,
so mid season tournament. Now we're back in. I'm starting over.
Everybody win, losses go to zero. Now they played some
league before the tournament.
Speaker 2 (49:54):
Okay, look, look, rig just mid season. Normally you normally
have a first half winter then the second half. Never
heard of that. Oh wow, you haven't heard a lot.
Speaker 3 (50:03):
You think Oxford Baseball for Youth did that. I was like,
you know what, Rick, that was thirty years ago.
Speaker 2 (50:07):
Well that's what I'm saying. All Right, we'll be back.
Our bats were a little cold last night. Actually fifty
years so they were. They went cold on you. Yeah,
they made a ryan at the end. So we're back.
Even the even the the batters that produce were now yes,
oh you know you ever had with them?
Speaker 6 (50:25):
Not?
Speaker 2 (50:25):
Oh everybody was all those that you're banking on. So
nothing's going right. Yeah, but it's fun. We had a
good time, but it was fine. It was Yeah, We'll
be right back.
Speaker 1 (50:35):
This is the Rick Burgess Show.
Speaker 16 (50:45):
Out of the Shadows, Five of the Gallows, A damn
now Walking, The Love Game, Coling Rise of.
Speaker 2 (50:58):

Speaker 16 (51:02):

Speaker 2 (51:07):

All right, so let's let's look first. When you start
thinking about energy drinks, they've they've you gotta watch them.
Energy drinks. They come with a bit of a warning.
They can you know, they can help you, but they
can also harm you. And so the folks at my pillow,
(52:04):
you know, you never know what Lindell is going to
get into. He's he's fired up about this Make America
Healthy Again campaign we've got going with rf K Junior,
and he says he believes they have found the next
generation and energy drinks. They call it Rev seven r
E V seven. Uh it is a new energy drink
powered by uh what.
Speaker 2 (52:25):
What is go B h B.
Speaker 3 (52:28):
I don't even I don't even know what that is.
Something good is something good. It has no caffeine, it
has no sugar.
Speaker 6 (52:35):
Oh, it's beta hydroxy butarate, thank you so much, thank
you that I knew that.
Speaker 2 (52:40):
I just didn't want to sound upity.
Speaker 6 (52:42):
It's a keytne body.
Speaker 2 (52:43):
It's a salt right, yes, okay, yeah, got it? Uh,
lemonade flavored green apple, blueberry, citrus. Uh. It is vegan.
Speaker 3 (52:52):
If you care about that, it gives you great energy,
clean energy and RESTful nights. REV seven may need to
power your days without all of those energy drinks that
maybe have things you're like, no stimulants in this at all.
So go to my pillow dot com slash big vox
today or find the link at rickburgesshow dot com under
(53:15):
the sponsors REV seven the next generation of energy drinks. Okay,
a lot to celebrate today, but we also have to
take a hard look sadly at the falling creation in
the evil that still exists here on earth. And we've
seen it again. A twenty year old gunman open fire
(53:40):
just before noon yesterday at the student union at Florida
State University, leaving two people dead six injured. Phoenix is
at Eichner was shot by police. He refused their commands.
He invoked his his right not to speak when taken
(54:02):
into custody, so he is alive. We have a press
conference and a couple of clips audio video. We'll go
with six A or that's b roll. There isn't it
just showing that? So on six B we actually get
to the FSU shooting press conference and we'll hear a
little bit of what I've already said, but some more
(54:25):
information as well.
Speaker 7 (54:26):
So here it is the students who are here, and
we understand that you all have been devastated because of
this person's actions.
Speaker 2 (54:36):
The question as relates to.
Speaker 7 (54:37):
Who is a shooter. The shooter is twenty year old
Phoenix Eckner Echnichnerichner, OK.
Speaker 2 (54:47):
And he's a son of a Lean County Sheriff Deputy Wow.
Speaker 7 (54:51):
Our deputy Deputy Eichner has been with the Lenn County
Sheriff's Office for over eighteen years. She has a tremendo
this job that she's done. Her service to this community
has been exceptional. Unfortunately, her son had access to one
of her weapons and that was one of the weapons
(55:15):
that was found at the scene and we will continue
that investigation into how that weapon was used and what
other weapons perhaps he may have had access to. The
alleged shooter was also a long standing member of the
Leon County Sheriff's Office Citizen Advisory or Youth Advisory Council,
(55:39):
so he has been steep in the Lean County Sheriff's
Office family, engaged in a number of training programs that
we have, so it's not a surprise to us that
he had access to weapons. This event is tragic in
more ways than you people in the audience could ever
(56:01):
offantom from a law enforcement perspective.
Speaker 2 (56:06):
Okay, yeah, it's and hearing more about the family too. Uh,
it's there was just a lot of turmoil in the family.
He made a social media post and it's now emerged
prior to the shooting. He wrote, you are my war club,
my weapon for battle. With you, I shatter nations with you,
(56:30):
I destroy kingdoms. The quote is a message from Jeremiah
and the Bible which warned of an impendent impending I
should say judgment day.
Speaker 9 (56:38):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (56:39):
And so that's emerged as a social media post that
he set out well, and.
Speaker 3 (56:45):
You know you don't want you don't want to be insensitive,
but you also want to tell the truth. What you
have here once again, and we can tiptoe all around.
It is evil, especially when you see once again taking scripture,
misuse it, mishandling it, misinterpreting it. And we are not
God and we are not here to hand out his wrath. Now,
(57:08):
it is true that sometimes God's wrath is handed out
through government officials and things like that, but I'm talking
about it in our individual lives. Is for whatever reason,
under no circumstance, are we ever representing God by killing
people in cold blood who haven't done anything you know
(57:29):
that would They're not protecting yourself. You're not you know,
stopping a crime in progress. You're just killing to kill.
And that brothers and sisters is nothing but demonic evil action.
Speaker 2 (57:43):
That's all that is. Yep.
Speaker 3 (57:45):
And and it's a you know when when you think
about him being on that the youth board and all that,
and having a mama, who's you know in law enforcement,
it is his mama right now.
Speaker 2 (57:54):
I believe it's his stepmom. His biological mom has come
out and said there was a okay, there's there's been
termoil within the family for quite some time. Uh, And
I kind of threw some stuff towards the dad, saying
that he was he was off too and anyway. I
don't know, but yeah, there's that he thinks that the dad. Yeah,
(58:17):
that's that's what the biological mom is saying that that
he is. He's not he's not easy to deal with
in a handle. But but I don't know the termoil
but in the family. But I just know that I
believe the sheriff's deputy is the step mom.
Speaker 3 (58:28):
Is there any indication speedy beyond that that post and
there's nothing in this story. I know we're so early.
We don't know any of these things you mentioned a
little bit. So he he targeted these people as God's
vengeance on them for what.
Speaker 2 (58:45):
I don't know. He he hit his He also recently
mocked students on campus protesting the results of the twenty
twenty four presidential election. He was quoted as saying, these
people are usually pretty entertaining, usually not for good reason
in a school magazine. He I guess put that out.
He was describing the political science major that he had.
(59:09):
He said, I think I'm a little I think it's
a little too late. He Trump has already going to
be inaugurated on January the twentieth. So his political leaning,
of course was right. And now the media is going
to jump on that. But some other friends have come
out said he was a little bizarre when on some
of his political statements too, right.
Speaker 3 (59:31):
Well, I know a lot of people on the left
that are politically bizarre and have done evil things.
Speaker 2 (59:35):
But don't I don't blame any.
Speaker 3 (59:37):
Political figure for their evil acts because there really is
no excuse to do things that are evil like this,
regardless of your political leanings or not. And I don't
blame the people that you support politically for the evil acts, even.
Speaker 2 (59:53):
Though I know that does happen a lot.
Speaker 3 (59:55):
I think at the end of the day, we need
a little more of not of saying I'll tell you
who's responsible for filling the blank latest evil act is
the person who actually did it.
Speaker 2 (01:00:06):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:00:06):
Yeah, I know a lot of people that come from
troubled families. I know a lot of people, and they
don't go out and kill people in cold blood.
Speaker 2 (01:00:12):
No they don't.
Speaker 3 (01:00:13):
So so it's it's another sad, sad story. But there
you go, and more of that will come out as
as time goes on. So, but that was yesterday and
then you know about no one was killed. But about
four days ago, or maybe maybe less than that, maybe
two to four, there was a high school shooting, uh
(01:00:34):
in Dallas, the Dallas Fort Worth area. I think four
people were injured there. So it's it's become the norm,
hasn't it.
Speaker 2 (01:00:41):
We'll be right back.
Speaker 1 (01:00:43):
This is the Rick Burgess Show, The Man Who lovees
(01:01:06):
for a national holiday in honor of whoever the pussin
was who invented airic editioning.
Speaker 3 (01:01:16):
Here we go, Here we go, Here we go here
another day. Thank you for being with us. Good Friday
edition of the Rick Burgess Show. Also the two hundred
and fiftieth anniversary of Paul Revere's famous midnight Ride. All

and please follow all instructions.
Speaker 2 (01:01:48):
Your cutoff is coming.
Speaker 3 (01:01:49):
It will be April the thirtieth, so get all that
in just use those links there at rickburgesshow dot com.
And let's take a look at the Aaron Rodgers stuff.
You know this Aaron Rodgers story he's said, he's setting
the record straight. Saw him talking, you know, speedy with
your buddy Pat McAfee. Yeah, oh, Pat, Pat McAfee. And
(01:02:13):
uh and and he was he thought that he was
going to go meet the new coach for the Jets
and and they were gonna have some they were going
to discuss some things about his future and his role.
What kind of offense this guy, you know, likes, et cetera.
I won't give away the clip, but he said he
thought he was going to be flying across the country
for a you know, lengthy meeting two two and a
(01:02:35):
half hours discussing the future, and uh, it didn't quite
go that way.
Speaker 2 (01:02:40):
So here he is, courtesy of the Pat McAfee show.
Speaker 17 (01:02:45):
I meet with the coach, we start talking, he runs
out of the room. I'm like, that's kind of strange.
Speaker 2 (01:02:51):
I was like.
Speaker 17 (01:02:52):
Then he comes back with the GM and I'm like,
all right. So we sit down in the office and
I think we're going to have this long conversation. I've
flown across the country, and twenty seconds in he goes,
I mean literally, I'm talking to the GM about something.
(01:03:13):
And he leans to the edge of his sheet and
goes shouldn't want to play football. I was like, yeah,
I'm interested. And he said, we're going a different direction
in quarterback. And I said, and I was kind of shocked. Now,
not shocked because I didn't think that was a possibility.
Speaker 2 (01:03:28):
Listen.
Speaker 17 (01:03:28):
Of course they want to move on. That's totally fine,
but shocked because I just flew across the country. You
could have told me this on the phone.
Speaker 2 (01:03:36):
Yeah, I agree, Yeah, yeah, I got it. You know
you're moving on.
Speaker 6 (01:03:41):
But a text message any right?
Speaker 2 (01:03:45):
Right? That that's even worse than the you know what
you hear.
Speaker 3 (01:03:49):
The phrase people keep using now is I can't stand
to go to meetings that could have been an email.
Speaker 2 (01:03:53):
Yeah, this is even.
Speaker 3 (01:03:54):
Beyond that you said, could have been a text, I
mean FaceTime. Hey, no need for you to come all
the way out here.
Speaker 2 (01:04:04):
Let's just have a chat.
Speaker 8 (01:04:05):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (01:04:06):
He went on to say to the Pat McAfee that
he will set everything straight.
Speaker 2 (01:04:12):
He said, I'll set it all straight. I have no problem.
He said that he has he has spoke with the Giants.
Speaker 18 (01:04:18):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (01:04:19):
He also has been in regular contact with the Vikings,
also with Tomlin and the Steelers, so those three teams.
He said, I'm open to anything and attached to nothing.
Retirement could still be a possibility, but right now my
focus is and has been, and will continue to be
my personal life. There's still conversations that are being had.
Speaker 2 (01:04:41):
Uh, Greg, we go to you, you take Rogers on
right now.
Speaker 3 (01:04:46):
Just think about that statement right there, I'm more concerned
about my private life than anything. Which that's fine. He's
earned it, he's played his time. Do you think he
still has that? I mean, I mean, get out there
and let'sten. Let's think he won't to end.
Speaker 2 (01:05:00):
On a good note. He don't want to leave the
Jets thing, you know. I think that's what's driving him. Yeah,
but I don't know. If I had a.
Speaker 3 (01:05:08):
Team, then maybe I have a young quarterback and I
need a veteran to come in there and kind of
let him instead of having to throw him into the wolves,
I would consider it. But now I don't know if
he's going to have some ridiculous amount of money or
what that's going to play too.
Speaker 2 (01:05:21):
Yeah. I think it's all he just didn't like the
way this ended. And I get it. Is that a
great career and then this Jet thing from the injury
to just last year. I mean, it's not a good ending.
Do you think this new coach made a mistake cutting
him loose?
Speaker 19 (01:05:35):
Well?
Speaker 2 (01:05:35):
Who else they got? Didn't they just take traded from?
Come on, he's just with the Steelers. Oh, backup, come on, everybody? Fields?
Justin Fields?
Speaker 10 (01:05:46):
No?
Speaker 2 (01:05:47):
Yeah, or he was a backup for the Steelers and
they just got him. Well that was Fields.
Speaker 3 (01:05:51):
But the other quarterback that was in Pittsburgh, we can't
remember that played for the Seahawks.
Speaker 19 (01:05:58):
And.
Speaker 2 (01:06:00):
You couldn't think of Russell Wilson. Did he go to
the Giants? I don't know. Yeah, I think Aaron right, well,
we really know. I think that Aaron Rodgers. It would
it would be a mistake even entertain the Giants. But
the Steelers and the Vikings, they're ready to win right now,
you know I know that. So what I rather have?
I think I would rather have Aaron Rodgers at quarterback
than Justin Fields.
Speaker 6 (01:06:21):
Russell Wilson is the quarterback for the New York Giants.
Speaker 2 (01:06:24):
Yeah, right, and again that'll be a long year. Yeah,
maybe you can catch a Broadway play or two he likes.
Speaker 3 (01:06:32):
That's gonna be ugly, right, Something about that whole franchise
right now just feels ugly.
Speaker 2 (01:06:37):
How weird? Would it be though if he did end
up going to the Vikings and in his career there
and that's just like that's where are what do you
throw it across his body? Wayne Scrambling, he cast him
up super Bowls, going to going to the Super Bowls,
trying to make a play. He was, that's why you
love him. Of course he can hurt you. Now I'm
not I'm not as happy and I'm not saying that
(01:06:58):
that we need to feel sorry for Aaron Rodgers. He's
done real well financially he has, but to make it
even worse, the Jets made him pay for his own flight.
That's to come sit down.
Speaker 3 (01:07:07):
For five Oh my goodness, he's like, on my own dime.
Speaker 2 (01:07:11):
I flew there and they said that.
Speaker 3 (01:07:12):
This almost feel this almost feels like they're trying to
pay him back or something. It's like they were mad
at it. I say, watch his are y'all mad at me?
Speaker 2 (01:07:19):
Or something? Whatever? And he's talking about how he leaves
the room, comes back with the GM with yeah, y'all
do it. It feels like I would have I would
have thrown a fit. I would have Yeah, he had
a dumped desk.
Speaker 3 (01:07:29):
Over Oh really, Yeah, you had to cut up. Well,
I mean, he's so stupid, made me fly out here
for that. Yeah, but he's not he's not happy about it.
So it looks like right now it's Giants, which they
have Russell Wilson, So I guess that's over Vikings and Steelers.
Speaker 2 (01:07:44):
And then didn't Jamis Winston get picked up by the
Giants too? He did? Yeah, I think so Jameis Winston.
I just don't know where he's gonna show up now.
So great back up, right, So he's been with the Saints,
the Browns got him. Originally he was gonna be the
franchise guy. Yes, he was. Didn't work out, he's got
(01:08:06):
to I heard we talked a little bit about it yesterday.
All fair. When you look at his career, I guess
it's I mean it's not you know, but it's successful.
I mean he had a career. He didn't he didn't
just wash out. I'll give him that. It's not super successful,
it's not, but I mean he had a career in
the NFL, but he made money, got to play in
the NFL for he and like I say, he was
(01:08:26):
not considered like some of these other quarterbacks that come
in and now they can't even you know, get on
a roster nowhere. They came out, you know, high draft picks.
He doesn't fall under that category. He didn't fall under
the flop category. I don't think would you would you
take him over justin fields?
Speaker 14 (01:08:42):
Uh?
Speaker 2 (01:08:43):
You know, I think I would. I may be wrong there,
but I'm just not that Aaron Rodgers. M hm mm,
I don't know.
Speaker 6 (01:08:53):
No, I take Aaron Rodgers, Bucks, Saints, Brown's, and now
Giants like you guys there it is.
Speaker 2 (01:09:01):
I also remember he started some for the Saints when
I think injuries. But yeah, look he's carved out a
good career. He can hang around the back up because
he's a good back.
Speaker 6 (01:09:08):
Oh yeah, I like him as a commentator. I did
a Man on the Street. My goodness, that was fantastic.
Coverage was great, It really was. It was a fun
nice guy.
Speaker 2 (01:09:19):
Yeah, guys, and we've talked about it. I think we
like him.
Speaker 6 (01:09:21):
If we sit down, I would like to be his friend.
Speaker 2 (01:09:23):
This is a repeat, but I'm doing it anyway.
Speaker 3 (01:09:26):
Years ago when we had a sports show, we were
covering him coming out of high school. Jameis Winston I'm
speaking of because he's local from here and now he's
already at the end of his career in the NFL,
do you guys very weird? Wow, that doesn't seem that
long ago, because we did these high school reports and
member because we couldn't figure out how to say his
name at first, and then we finally figured it out,
and then he goes on Heisman Trophy and all that.
Speaker 2 (01:09:49):
But that does not seem that long ago. But guys,
he's at the end of his NFL career. I remember
watching him in high school and he was that quarterback
at the high school level for sure, that you got
every body covered and it's like fourth and twelve and
he still finds a way to get the first down,
and you're like, good night, what are we gonna do?
Speaker 3 (01:10:07):
Now, he's just a baseball player too. Yeah, yeah, don't
forget that.
Speaker 2 (01:10:13):
No, we can't. We can't.
Speaker 3 (01:10:14):
I call it and you can call it a success.
I think he was not a flop now, right, not
super successful, no, but but good, steady but steady kepa
check coming in, got in some games. I'm over here
if y'all need me. Yeah, which is really a good
place to be, not bad. Your body probably lasts a
lot longer that way.
Speaker 2 (01:10:34):
Yeah, Yeah, what what the Titans I to do is
get Aaron Rodgers and draft Travis Hunne. Yeah, that's the
thing ought to do. If I see him as the type,
that would be cool. We'll be back more of the
Rick Burgess Show coming up right after this.
Speaker 1 (01:10:55):
This is the Rick Burgess Show doing what he was
born to do, The Rick Budget Show.
Speaker 2 (01:11:14):
How about it, America?
Speaker 3 (01:11:16):
Spending time together again today, getting you into the Easter weekend.
Speaker 2 (01:11:21):
Good Friday edition of the show.
Speaker 3 (01:11:24):
Okay, so as we work our way back, a couple
other things to touch on today and we got a
lot to cover, and we come back next hour. We'll
do which was a tradition during the years of being
on the Rick and Bubba Show together, and we start
doing it, different versions of it. And of course, anytime
we get to something as special as celebrating this weekend
(01:11:47):
and remembering the Crucifixion and the Resurrection, we want to,
you know, take time with all of you and even
those of you that may not believe what we believe
and acknowledge that as we're called to do publicly, and
we will do that coming up next probably next segment
that if that works for you, but definitely next hour. Uh,
but want to hit on a few things yesterday, some
(01:12:08):
updates on things that we've been covering. You know, a
lot of people and I'm getting a few emails have
noticed this. You know, I'm starting to become a little
more handy. Yeah, this is one of the things that
that I've kind of taken on. I want to be
a little more handy around that all injured, and that's
the next level. Yeah, well, you know, Sherry is planning
stuff everywhere. I keep saying, maybe I'm over here if
(01:12:29):
you need me, and uh, she's.
Speaker 2 (01:12:31):
Something she posted yesterday I need to ask you about
by the way, Okay, but that's for later. What right?
Speaker 3 (01:12:35):
And I wish I wish you are with me on this.
You ever had your wife start posting things You're like, hey,
you don't run.
Speaker 2 (01:12:40):
That by me. That was one thing she posted that
I didn't think you agreed with that.
Speaker 3 (01:12:44):
That and and the guys are gonna they're gonna give
me a hard time about it. You shall throw things
out there sometimes, I like, know, oh you ever noticed
we're we don't get the same courtesy that they demand
all from us.
Speaker 2 (01:12:55):
Don't you post something that I didn't approve of? And
they'll just post I don't know what it was. It
was the English peace. Oh yeah, I don't think I
told Terry I said he didn't eat those. There's no
way he did. If he did, then he held his nose.
It's on Sherry's story adds what they're talking about. That
(01:13:16):
was that was That wasn't just a few. That was
a plate full of English peas.
Speaker 6 (01:13:21):
That looks fantastic.
Speaker 3 (01:13:23):
That's supposed to be a sweet picture that my wife
took of me praying before we ate a dinner together.
Speaker 2 (01:13:30):
And we're a lot of peas on your plate. By
the way.
Speaker 3 (01:13:32):
That salmon right there is from our sponsor point looks fantastic.
That does It looks really good salmon too, But you
didn't eat them English. Sherry Burgess loves those English peas.
I've been on record about it, but you don't.
Speaker 2 (01:13:44):
I don't.
Speaker 3 (01:13:44):
But but you know what, I mixed it with those
carrots and the salmon, and I just ate.
Speaker 2 (01:13:49):
What time out. So this is like when I was
a kid.
Speaker 3 (01:13:51):
Sherry's forcing you to eat English speed I have to
eat and all all this you make you sit in
there until you and all those all the guys that
are trying to help me do a little bit better.
They love English speech. Oh, oh that's a great great
protein resource. We can find other protein. Yeah, there's other protein.
Speaker 7 (01:14:09):
I love it.
Speaker 6 (01:14:09):
You can't. My grandfather was a pe teacher. You used
to always say they're good for your innerds. Tell me
it's a little tiny child. You're scaring me. I'm thinking
about my inerts.
Speaker 2 (01:14:20):
Now, what's good for great grandfather?
Speaker 6 (01:14:22):
Good for your inerts?
Speaker 2 (01:14:23):
Oh that had a way to go, grand dad.
Speaker 3 (01:14:25):
Yeah, so anyway that yes, I did eat those English
speace because my wife's a great dinner she made and
I ate it.
Speaker 2 (01:14:32):
That's a lot of them. That's that's if you make.
Speaker 3 (01:14:34):
Fantastic So you're required to eat everything. Uh no, I
mean I could say it's not a bad thing. I
could have said no, but but I really you went
on a ran against English speece bad.
Speaker 2 (01:14:46):
Like I said, it's not my TH's like you almost
like I tolerate them.
Speaker 3 (01:14:50):
I tolerate them. I don't kick them out of a
chicken pop pietor Now. I would like to see that
serving be about half that size.
Speaker 2 (01:14:56):
That yeah, that's why you step. That's too many. That
Sherry's place. That's my plate all right? For those of
you that can't see it is uh, would you say
that's that's probably from nine to twelve o'clock on the dial,
that's on the plate. It's that much? Oh yeah, I
don't think that's a quarter of your quarter.
Speaker 3 (01:15:14):
Of an hour English piece. I don't even They're like nothing.
I hate in air. There's nothing to them. So he's
singing a different tune. Now she must be watching and listening.
Speaker 2 (01:15:22):
You know that does look good. But he didn't like Eli.
I will hate it's salmon, not salmon, but salmon. I
would admit. I don't think I've ever even tried them,
so I really what I think I've avoided English? What
are you still?
Speaker 12 (01:15:38):
Five one?
Speaker 2 (01:15:39):
Yeah? Tried them? You think you would like?
Speaker 3 (01:15:42):
I don't know, Sam, I am that was a that
was a specific that was Yeah, come on, Sam.
Speaker 6 (01:15:47):
You talked about how much you hate them and you've
never even tried.
Speaker 2 (01:15:53):
Them, and and you will. I say, I'm I'm sure
I tried them at one point. Try try them, try them,
and you may try them, try them and you will
like them. What if I did crazy and just loved
them and ate them, brought them to work? They just
they're good?
Speaker 3 (01:16:09):
It set up you worried about you entered to me
English peace. If if food were people, english bees never
get invited anything. Oh okay, now like you're not gonnavite
English peas?
Speaker 2 (01:16:19):
Are they coming? I gotta say they coming? All. I
was hearing a different different words yet last week. I
hate them. I don't like it. I don't care for them.
Rick actually questioned people who liked.
Speaker 3 (01:16:29):
Him, I didn't go that far exaggerator to cool tap.
I said, I don't like it. I don't like them,
but my wife made the English peas and the carrots
and the salmon, and I had a nice dinner with
my wife.
Speaker 2 (01:16:41):
We're actually praying in this picture. Thank you.
Speaker 3 (01:16:44):
And now y'all, y'all focused on is I meeting English peach? Well,
that's the first thing that jumped out. And the shirt
and English bees, why I wouldn't they?
Speaker 2 (01:16:51):
Terry even said, oh, look, Sherry's posted something that's so
that's so sweet, and then she showed me the picture
and I went, he didn't eat that. That's the first
thing I saw. Okay.
Speaker 3 (01:16:59):
I actually he thought there was another post that she
put up that I was praying. If you look at this,
it looks like I'm praying I'm actually looking at the peace.
Speaker 2 (01:17:10):
She also posted something about y'all love a tree or something.
That's the one I'm talking about. I thought that's where
you were going. Let me that's the next one, Rick,
and I just love. Don't pull me into that. So
you that bitter Mexican energy drink. You're drinking that with
your meal. That was Sherry's drink. That's not my drink
(01:17:30):
with a meal. That's tough. I wouldn't my drink. My
drink is the Stevie over there. Make fun of that.
There's plenty to make fun of there.
Speaker 10 (01:17:38):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:17:38):
Well, soon after that picture, she posted right here the
tulip picture. Rick and I think this tulip popular? Popular?
Is heavenly?
Speaker 6 (01:17:48):
It's not popular?
Speaker 2 (01:17:49):
It's a pop popular poplar poplar? Those poplars are beautiful?
You thought that? Did you use the word in their heads? Heaven?
Live shot.
Speaker 3 (01:18:00):
I had a conversation. I thought it was private with
my life heaven? She said, poplar is just beautiful. What
was going on with you yesterday?
Speaker 11 (01:18:13):
What is that?
Speaker 20 (01:18:15):
God?
Speaker 2 (01:18:16):
I can tell you how my day ended. Oh he's
trying to run now because he's down. He's down about twenty.
Speaker 3 (01:18:22):
One, Okay, And I just went out there and she said,
come out here and look at my tulip poplar. She
loves this time of year. Everything's blooming. She's planting things.
And I looked up and I said, man, that that
really is amazing. That's almost like something we'll see in heaven.
I didn't know she was gonna post it.
Speaker 2 (01:18:39):
I'm gonna eat my peas, I'm gonna look ahead and
look at something. There's certain things you say.
Speaker 3 (01:18:44):
There's certain things you say around your wife you wouldn't
say around the guys.
Speaker 2 (01:18:47):
I thought we all knew that.
Speaker 6 (01:18:50):
I've never said the word cute. As far as y'all
are concerned, I ever said.
Speaker 2 (01:18:53):
I didn't say cute. I never said cute.
Speaker 6 (01:18:56):
But I said in private to my wife.
Speaker 3 (01:18:58):
See that's what I mean. Yes, that's a great example.
And there's a time and place for that kind of talk.
It's not around when I saw that. I didn't know
about it until I got to work today and I
saw that. I said, I've got this shirt on and
that post today, I'm I'm.
Speaker 2 (01:19:16):
Dead in the water. Go in there and get you
some of that milk the breakfast she had the first
day and almond. Yeah, you're walking around This is supposed
to be good shirt. Looking at tulips, it's supposed to
be a good Friday. It's not going very well for me.
Speaker 6 (01:19:30):
Her garden, my goodness, the garden is amazing. Don't look
at this flower, though, Ricky might start crying.
Speaker 2 (01:19:35):
Well, you're gonna go get a pedicure today.
Speaker 3 (01:19:36):
Oh okay, if if it would make her happy and
it'd be a good day together.
Speaker 2 (01:19:41):
Maybe. Plus, I'm sure he don't be upset. We're kidding now.
It's just that he didn't like eat your peast, your peas,
and we're going out seeing the tulip and you better
like it's it's not a tulip. Well whatever, Look at
the crape, myrtles.
Speaker 6 (01:19:58):
Okay, Lord, help me it through these peas.
Speaker 2 (01:20:04):
Take my tongue, Lord, Lord, I know you took taste
from me during COVID. Bring that back for just ten
more minutes.
Speaker 3 (01:20:10):
Lord, you fed five thousand men with just a couple
of fish and some bread. You can make English speech
taste good. That's not even a hard thing's it's not
beyond your power.
Speaker 2 (01:20:23):
Top of the hour. Thanks your man with us.
Speaker 1 (01:20:27):
This is the Rick Burgess Show. Looted with caffeine and
ready for another hour.
Speaker 2 (01:20:43):
This is the Rick Burgis Show.
Speaker 3 (01:20:45):
It is the Good Friday Edition, and we want to
take a just a pause right now to celebrate the
debt that all mankind Oh's being paid and by Jesus
Christ today and looking ahead to the weekend is resurrection.
(01:21:07):
So just kind of sit back, pause and enjoy reflection
on what happened on this day for the world.
Speaker 6 (01:21:16):
Now. The Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron in the
land of Egypt, for.
Speaker 21 (01:21:21):
I will pass through the land of Egypt on that
night and will strike all the first born in the
land of Egypt, both man and beast, and against all
the gods of Egypt. I will execute judgment.
Speaker 2 (01:21:36):
I am the Lord.
Speaker 21 (01:21:39):
Now the blood shall be a sign for you on
the houses where you are. And when I see the blood,
I will pass over you, and the plague shall not
be on you to destroy you when I strike the
land of Egypt. So this day shall be to you
(01:21:59):
a memorial, and you shall keep it as a feast
to the Lord throughout your generations.
Speaker 2 (01:22:07):
The Gospel according to Mark.
Speaker 13 (01:22:10):
Immediately in the morning, the chief priests held a consultation
with the elders and scribes, and the whole council, and
they bound Jesus, led him away and delivered him to Pilot.
Then Pilot asked him.
Speaker 1 (01:22:25):
Are you the King of the Jews?
Speaker 13 (01:22:28):
It is as you say, And the chief priests accused
him of many things, but he answered nothing.
Speaker 2 (01:22:35):
Do you answer nothing? See how many things they testify
against you.
Speaker 13 (01:22:41):
But Jesus still answered nothing, so that Pilot marveled. Now
at the feast, he was accustomed to releasing one prisoner
to them whomver they requested. And there was one named Barabbas,
who was chained with his fellow rebels they had committed
murder in the rebellion. Then the multitude, crying aloud, began
(01:23:06):
to ask him to do just as he had always
done for them. But Pilot answered.
Speaker 2 (01:23:10):
Them, do you want me to release to you the
King of the Jews?
Speaker 13 (01:23:15):
For he knew that the chief priest had handed him
over because of envy. But the chief priest stirred up
the crowd so that he should rather release Barabas to them.
Speaker 2 (01:23:26):
What then, do you want me to do with him,
whom you call the King of the Jews.
Speaker 13 (01:23:30):
So they cried out again, why what even has he done?
But they cried out all the morning so Pilot, wanting
to gratify the crowd, released Barabas to them, and he
(01:23:51):
delivered Jesus after he had scorched him to be crucified.
Then the soldiers led him away to the hall called Pretorium,
and they called together the whole garrison, and they clothed
him with purple, and they twisted a crown of thorns,
put it on his head, and began to salute him
(01:24:13):
he the jew. Then they struck him on the head
with a reed and spat on him, and bowing the knee,
they worshiped him. And when they had mocked him, they
took the purple off him, put his own clothes on him,
and let him out to crucify him. Then they compelled
(01:24:42):
a certain man Simon, a Serenian, the father of Alexander
and Rufus, as he was coming out of the country
and passing by, to bare his cross. And they brought
him to the place Golgatha, which is translated place of
a skull. Then they gave him wine mingled with mrr
to drink, but he did not take it. And when
(01:25:10):
they crucified him, they divided his garments, casting lots for
them to determine what every man should take. Now it
was the third hour, and they crucified him, and the
inscription of his accusation was written above the King of
the Jews. With him, they also crucified two robbers, one
on his right and the other on his left. So
(01:25:33):
the scripture was fulfilled, which says, and he was numbered
with the transgressors, and those who passed by blasphemed him,
wagging their heads and saying.
Speaker 21 (01:25:42):
Aha, you who destroy the temple and build it in
three days, save yourself and come.
Speaker 1 (01:25:51):
Down from the cross.
Speaker 13 (01:25:52):
Likewise, the chief priests also mocking among themselves.
Speaker 12 (01:25:56):
With the scribes he saved others himself, he cannot say.
Let the Christ, the King of Israel, descend now from
the cross, that we may see and believe.
Speaker 13 (01:26:07):
Even those who were crucified with him reviled him. Now,
when the sixth hour had come, there was darkness over
the whole land until the ninth hour. And at the
ninth hour, Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying.
Speaker 1 (01:26:22):
Hello, Helloma.
Speaker 13 (01:26:26):
Suffundingly, which is translated.
Speaker 22 (01:26:31):
My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?
Speaker 13 (01:26:40):
Some of those who stood by when they heard that.
Speaker 6 (01:26:42):
Said, look, he's calling for Elijah.
Speaker 13 (01:26:46):
Then someone ran and filled a sponge full of sour wine,
put it on a reed, and offered it to him
to drink. Let him alone, let us see if Elijah
will come to take him down. And Jesus cried out
the loud voice and breathed his last. Then the veil
(01:27:26):
of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom.
So when the centurion who stood opposite him saw that
he cried out like this and breathed his last.
Speaker 1 (01:27:35):
He said, truly this man was the son of God.
Speaker 13 (01:27:44):
And there were also women looking on from Afar, among
whom was Mary Magdalen, Mary the mother of James, the
lesson of Joseys, and Salome, who also followed him and
ministered to him when he was in Galilee, and many
other women who came up with him to Jerusalem. Now,
(01:28:06):
when evening had come, because it was the preparation day,
that is, the day before the Sabbath, Joseph of Arimathea,
a prominent council member, who was himself waiting for the
Kingdom of God coming, and taking courage, went into Pilot
and asked for the body of Jesus. Pilot marveled that
he was already dead, and summoning the centurion, he asked
(01:28:28):
him if he had been dead for some time. So,
when he found out from the Centurion, he granted the
body to Joseph. Then he bought fine linen, took him
down and wrapped him in the linen. And he laid
him in a tomb which had been hewn out of
the rock, and rolled a stone against the door of
(01:28:50):
the tomb. And Mary Magdalen and Mary the mother of
Jades observed where he was laid. Now, when the Sabbath
was past, Mary Magdalen, Mary the mother of James, and
Salomi bought spices that they might come and anoint him.
(01:29:13):
Very early in the morning on the first day of
the week. They came to the tomb when the sun
had risen, and they said among themselves, who will roll
away the stone from the door of the tomb for us?
But when they looked up, they saw that the stone
had been rolled away, for it was very large. And
entering the tomb, they saw a young man clothed in
(01:29:35):
a long white robe sitting on the right side, and
they were alarmed. Do not be alarmed.
Speaker 23 (01:29:42):
You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified.
Speaker 1 (01:29:46):
He is risen.
Speaker 23 (01:29:48):
He is not here see the place where they laid him.
But go tell his disciples and Peter that he is
going before you into Galilee. There will see him as
he said to you.
Speaker 13 (01:30:04):
So they went out quickly and fled from the tomb,
for they trembled and were amazed. And they said nothing
to anyone, for they were afraid.
Speaker 10 (01:30:12):
Now.
Speaker 13 (01:30:12):
When he rose early on the first day of the week,
he appeared first to Mary Magdalen, out of whom he
had cast seven demons. She went and told those who
had been with him as they mourned and wept, And
when they heard that he was alive and had been
seen by her, they did not believe. After that, he
(01:30:32):
appeared in another form to two of them as they
walked and went into the country, and they went and
told it to the rest, but they did not believe
them either. Later he appeared to the eleven as they
sat at the table, and he rebuked their unbelief and
hardness of heart, because they did not believe those who
had seen him. After he had risen, go.
Speaker 24 (01:30:55):
Into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature.
He who believes and is baptized will be saved. But
he who does not believe will be condemned.
Speaker 13 (01:31:08):
So then after the Lord had spoken to them, he
was received up into heaven and sat down at the
right hand of God. And they went out and preached everywhere,
the Lord working with them and confirming the word to
the accompanying signs.
Speaker 3 (01:31:26):
Amen, and happy good Friday in resurrection Sunday coming up
to all of you. The biggest problem that we all
have has been resolved, and I hope that brings you
peace today. No matter what you're going through, because of
what Christ did, everything really is going to be all right.
Speaker 2 (01:31:50):
We'll be right back.
Speaker 1 (01:31:54):
This is the Rick Burgess show Men Don't Run in
the Rain. The new book by Rick Burches available everywhere
(01:32:17):
May thirteenth.
Speaker 3 (01:32:19):
Okay, So working our way back as we had a
time of reflection there, and thank you for your feedback
on that, and.
Speaker 2 (01:32:28):
We are walking through the day together. Don't forget.
Speaker 3 (01:32:30):
Also today two hundred and fiftieth anniversary and of the
Paul Revere Midnight Right, and as part of our anticipation
of the two hundred and fiftieth birthday of the Declaration
of Independence which is coming next year, asking people all
over the country to light two lights put them in
(01:32:52):
your window for liberty today, so as we celebrate that.
So there's the declaration of freedom for our countries we
said earlier, and then we just heard about true freedom
available to all because of what Christ did. So looking
at some of the other stories today, the the Katy
Perry thing just continues, and it's almost like, I know
(01:33:14):
that Gail King and some of the others have taken
a little bit of heat about their Blue Origin ride
to the edge of space. And there's some things out
there trying to be fair that some of you are
saying about this voyage that isn't correct, and some of
that's being debunked. So if you're gonna if you're gonna
poke a little fun you you at least do need
to be accurate. But here's something that's kind of a
(01:33:36):
breath of fresh air. Wendy's was having some fun at
Katy Perry's expense and they've been asked to apologize. Here's
what they put when that you know, they showed when
Katy Perry kissed the Earth when she came back, they
had that picture, uh, and the and the post that
Wendy's put up on their x account was can we
send her back, and that's funny. That is very very
(01:34:00):
very funny. Uh, And so they they the twist was,
of course, you remember the the I Kissed the Girls
song from from Katy Perry. They also were walking her
for kissing the earth and playing that and having some
fun with that, and so people were, you know, upset
(01:34:21):
in some places, they were, they were getting some wonder
why Wendy's of all things, I kissed the ground and
I liked it? Can we send her back? But here's greg,
I think you're gonna this is gonna make you go
to a Wendy's drive through today.
Speaker 2 (01:34:32):
Yeah, I mean, and probably we all will. I'm heady
there to get a frosty I don't hate, oh I
love people.
Speaker 3 (01:34:38):
Magazine reported that Wendy's had been given a chance to
walk it back instead. Breath of fresh air here, the
brand took the scenic route around an apology.
Speaker 2 (01:34:48):
Here.
Speaker 3 (01:34:49):
Here's what they said. We always bring a little spice
to our socials. But Wendy's has a ton of respect
for Katy Perry and her out of this world talent.
But they did not appolyogize for poking fun. Standing on
the beef of it was a joke. And we need
(01:35:09):
to get back around here in this country where we
can take a joke and we liked it. We don't
mean any harm. We had an opportunity to take a
little to have a little fun, and we did it,
and it was just supposed to be humorous. Not apologizing
for that. Don't mean any harm to Katy Perry. We're
cutting up, having a little fun.
Speaker 2 (01:35:25):
Yeah, I love it and I like it. I see
where Domino's also posted while she was in space. It
says number of pizzas sould while Katy Perry was in
space two, meaning that she was only there for long. Yeah,
also while floating around screaming.
Speaker 3 (01:35:42):
Some of you are texting it, but I told Adler, Yes,
the Babylon B shot too, and I showed this to
Greg earlier. Babylon B has her writing. Is it called
astro World. It's one of the first rides Disney ever
had at Disney World. We I'm an Astronaut exclaims. It
claims Katy Perry doing ride on Disneyland astro Orbiter.
Speaker 2 (01:36:04):
So she's in there. This is but look, this is
all fun. Yeah, this is all in fun.
Speaker 3 (01:36:09):
So I think Wendy's will sell more burgers today because
what Wendy's is doing, and I hope they're wise enough
to do this, is they're understanding that some of this
fake world stuff that maybe these young marketing teams keep
telling you to do, and they're realizing that's not really
our audience. We're not going to do these campaigns for
(01:36:31):
a fake world. Let's throw something out that might appeal
to the real world, and that is we think this
is funny. We're standing by it. Don't many harm to
Katy Perry. She's a talented woman. We wish her the best,
but I'm sorry that's funny. Yeah, and they have a
good time on social media for sure. And don't you
think that that place to the real audience that buys Hamburgers.
Speaker 2 (01:36:50):
More than the others. Yeah.
Speaker 6 (01:36:53):
One thing that people are love with Double with Cheese
trying to really stir up is that this whole thing
was fake. They wouldn't risk it, they wouldn't do all
this and all that they and they're sighting like the
door we went door that was opened from the inside
and then they said hold up so that Jeff Bezos
could have his big on camera moment where he was opening.
Speaker 2 (01:37:14):
The laughter together off the ground.
Speaker 6 (01:37:16):
Yes, after he fell in the trench. So I don't
think the door proves that this was fake. And then
another thing that people are sighting is this photo right
here from Blue Origin that shows a in the window.
There's a shot and it's very clearly a dummy's hand,
a dummy hand this and people are saying, oh, this
(01:37:39):
is this proves it was fake. That's from a test
flight where they did put dummies in Blue Origin.
Speaker 2 (01:37:45):
That is an old out. So everything's fake now that
what everybody?
Speaker 6 (01:37:49):
Everything's fake?
Speaker 3 (01:37:50):
But so that's a really photo, everybody, it really was done,
just like the people that think the moon landing in.
Speaker 6 (01:37:56):
Bubble that's not Let's not lump those together.
Speaker 3 (01:38:00):
But Bubba pointed out and he was right that yes, yes,
there was a fake landing that was shot in case
they couldn't get a signal from the moon.
Speaker 2 (01:38:08):
So both of those are equally true.
Speaker 3 (01:38:10):
You can still have landed on the podcast and still.
Speaker 6 (01:38:12):
Well, I know they needed stuff to show on TV
in case that didn't work.
Speaker 2 (01:38:16):
Right, All that right now, but was it real?
Speaker 3 (01:38:19):
But the narrative portray it that way or people had
to figure the narrative on Katie Perry that is accurate,
and the ladies. Is they can't claim their astronauts this
calling them astronauts. Astronauts don't float around in the castle
screaming no like a bunch of cheerleaders.
Speaker 2 (01:38:35):
They're not.
Speaker 3 (01:38:36):
They're not astronauts. That did they take a ride?
Speaker 19 (01:38:38):
That was.
Speaker 3 (01:38:41):
And kind of a night of this world carnival ride
they did. Are they astronauts?
Speaker 2 (01:38:45):
No, they're not.
Speaker 3 (01:38:46):
I do think they went I do think they came back.
They're not astronaut. Now, when they go up and stay
on the space of station for months at a time,
then they might.
Speaker 2 (01:38:54):
Have an argument right that they're astronaut.
Speaker 3 (01:38:59):

Welcome to the Rick Burgess Show. Unscreened phone calls.
Speaker 2 (01:41:02):
Go Ahi, Rick, anybody call me?
Speaker 3 (01:41:06):
We got Fridy's coming.
Speaker 2 (01:41:12):
That's good.
Speaker 3 (01:41:13):
Uh, Hey, you're on the Rick Burgers Show. Unscreened phone calls,
Go ahead, Well.
Speaker 9 (01:41:17):
Good morning, brothers. I wanted to kind of go see
if y'all had heard there was another Babylon b uh
headline that I shared to the group chat. I don't
know if y'all saw it or not group chat, but anyway,
uh taxtline and UH it said that UH and uh
(01:41:38):
space had returned Amazon's package or whatever. I thought it
was pretty funny.
Speaker 2 (01:41:44):
All right, well, oh, let me change.
Speaker 3 (01:41:48):
I'm sure he's a nice guy. Well he could not
land that plan. Oh he couldn't land his ship. And
I think he left half of the joke out. I
want you to imagine that changed that Amazon's back.
Speaker 2 (01:42:00):
A picture of this greg before we had before, we
had ways, before we had Google maps.
Speaker 3 (01:42:05):
You you're lost in the town and he's trying to
you imagine just forget it. Hey, where are where are you?
I'm just riding riding circles. Some guy tell me how
to get there. Hey, it's a Rick Burgess show. Unscreen
phone calls, and go.
Speaker 1 (01:42:24):
I love the show.
Speaker 3 (01:42:26):
There's that thing against being all all right, Hey, unscreen
phone calls on the Rick Burgess Show. Go ahead, there's
no way we can deal with that.
Speaker 2 (01:42:39):
They were.
Speaker 3 (01:42:41):
We continue he show unscreen phone calls, go ahead.
Speaker 2 (01:42:47):
Yeah, I was curious if you could tell me what
the definition of it.
Speaker 3 (01:42:52):
Uh. I think that's that guy, that's how Yeah, he
went by Mike at one time, but now he's I
think he's going to buy various names.
Speaker 6 (01:43:03):
I got a name for him.
Speaker 2 (01:43:04):
Well, I was just wondering, Hey, Rick.
Speaker 3 (01:43:07):
Birder show you're on unscreen phone calls, go.
Speaker 25 (01:43:09):
Ahead, Yes, sir, I just wanted to say thanks for
the bit you played about the Crucis Dixon want to
go to h Yeah. I was driving down the interstate
on my way to a hospital over here on two
to eighty and I really needed to hear that. And
I appreciate you guys, and appreciate your prayers for my
dear mom's day.
Speaker 3 (01:43:29):
Oh yeah, what's your mama's name.
Speaker 2 (01:43:32):
Her name is Elizabeth.
Speaker 3 (01:43:34):
Well, we pray for you and Elizabeth, and I do
hope that that was comforting. I mean, let's face it,
what you're going through right now, sir, I mean, if
we don't have that hope, you know, that's the reason
why when Jesus said in John sixteen thirty three, I
say this so that you have peace in this world.
You will face tribulation. You're in it, sir right now,
but you're clinging to what he said next. But when
(01:43:55):
you're in it, always have joy in your heart because
I've overcome the world world. So if if your mama
is redeemed, you know, if if her earthly life is
getting uh, you know, toward the end, it's only beginning.
And that that that brings peace to all of us.
So thank you for that reminder to and I'm glad
it was comforting to you during your time of need. Hey,
this is the Rick Burgers Show. Unscreen phone calls, go ahead.
Speaker 26 (01:44:19):
Oh yes, I'm Colin.
Speaker 6 (01:44:20):
I ask you questions about the uh.
Speaker 19 (01:44:24):
The KD.
Speaker 26 (01:44:24):
Perry situation and why y'all think that is real.
Speaker 3 (01:44:27):
We we think it's real that the Blue Origin, you know,
goes up to wherever it goes to and comes back down.
Speaker 2 (01:44:33):
Yeah, we think.
Speaker 3 (01:44:34):
We don't think they're astronauts, but I don't think they
pretended to ride up and back down because a lot
of people have done it and they didn't have any
more expertise than they did. And there yeah, and there
was some training that goes with it. Yeah, yeah, I
don't think that that they're pretending to take the ride.
I just don't think the ride equates astronauts.
Speaker 2 (01:44:56):
Okay, so my question is if it's real. Is that
not a slap in the face to all astronauts that
trained for years to go as the WISP NMG forces
only to not be able to go.
Speaker 3 (01:45:06):
Yes, it's a slap in the face of astronauts if
they claim to be astronauts. It's not a slap in
the face if they say, we're riding the blue Blue
Origin thing that's available too to rich people. Yeah, so
it's as long as they keep it in the we
aren't astronauts, but we're going to ride this rocket that
Bezos has has allowed us to ride. I don't think
(01:45:28):
it's a slap in the face because I mean, it's free.
It's it's we have the freedom to do this research.
If Bezos has funded it himself and he has the
freedom to let whomever he chooses to ride it, and
people have the choice to ride it, I don't think
that's a slap in anyone's face. It's just pretending you've
done something more than you've done. Yeah, that's a slap
(01:45:51):
to astronauts.
Speaker 2 (01:45:52):
Face. Yes, I do think that. All right, it's my
second question. Go ahead.
Speaker 26 (01:45:58):
My second question is why would it make the most
sense for that door to be able to open from
the end silight. What if one of those girls got
an intrusa thall say, hey, I want to see what
you know what happens when I open this? You know
airti stelled door.
Speaker 2 (01:46:12):
Well, now in that particular bunch floating around and their
leg hangs on it or something kicks it open. I
don't know how it worked. No, I'm sure it's not
that easy.
Speaker 12 (01:46:21):
It is.
Speaker 6 (01:46:22):
It's probably not that easy. But I do see why
they want it to be able to be opened from.
Speaker 2 (01:46:28):
As if asked him, he wished his would have open
them doors on planes, the emergency doors they pull.
Speaker 1 (01:46:35):
In they've gotten.
Speaker 6 (01:46:36):
Yeah, you we can open doors on planes too. Yeah,
that's why they change the design of refrigerators. Little kids
were getting in there.
Speaker 2 (01:46:44):
You go, buddy?
Speaker 3 (01:46:45):
Uh the right from the text line, the email for
Hayburge is Rick at Rick Burgess Show dot Com. Put
in the subject line, hey Burge, Yeah, and Greg likes
to be copied on it.
Speaker 2 (01:46:55):
Oh he loves that.
Speaker 3 (01:46:56):
Would Hello, unscreened phone calls, you're on the Rick Burgess Show.
Speaker 20 (01:46:59):
Go Hi, I wanted to see if I could shout
out my husband who is a new musician with a
few new songs out. His name is Brandon Jordan and
he was just joined by Scott Bartlett of saving Ebel
who just joined his band.
Speaker 2 (01:47:16):
How cool is that.
Speaker 3 (01:47:17):
Well, congratulations to your husband and a little shout out
to him. And I see that that's out there helping
your husband doing some marketing. Well done, proud wife. I
love it, uh huh, And wish.
Speaker 2 (01:47:28):
You guys the best. Pretty good, Yeah they really are.
Speaker 3 (01:47:30):
Hey, Rick Burger's show, unscreen phone calls go ahead, Hey,
good morning guys.
Speaker 9 (01:47:36):
Tell y'all doing a great job.
Speaker 2 (01:47:37):
We appreciate what you do. Thank you. I will so Rick.
Speaker 26 (01:47:41):
You can't have your cake and eat it too. An
astronaut is simply someone who goes into outer space.
Speaker 2 (01:47:47):
Yeah. I may not like the Yeah, yeah, there's all
kinds of folks, but hey, come on, but you know
what I mean, though, I got to others go through
all the tracks. Yeah.
Speaker 6 (01:48:00):
Person who is trained to travel in a spacecraft is
the official Deck Oxford definition.
Speaker 3 (01:48:06):
Yes, and they didn't go through the same training. It
just feels a little I'm still gonna not like it. Yeah, uh,
and I'm still gonna enjoy the cake. Hey, this is
the Rick Burgers Show. Unscreen phone calls, go ahead, Good
morning guys.
Speaker 2 (01:48:22):
Hey buddy.
Speaker 8 (01:48:25):
Uh So my wife and I are expecting.
Speaker 2 (01:48:27):
Our first child in the first congratulations.
Speaker 8 (01:48:29):
And what is some advice you guys can offer for
us for.
Speaker 3 (01:48:33):
The actual Hey, we're welcoming and you baby? Are you
talking long term?
Speaker 2 (01:48:38):
A little bit of both a little bit of both.
What to expect? What to expect?
Speaker 3 (01:48:42):
Well, it's going to be a day of elation, enjoy,
and we'll be praying that everything goes smoothly. I want
to prepare you for what I think, and I'm just
and we've all talked about this before, so I think
we're all on the same page. I do want to
prepare you for that moment when everybody who's there helping
have to go back to their own lives and you've
(01:49:03):
never if you never, you never, you never taken care
of your baby Scar, and you look in the last
the tail lights drive away from your house, and you
look at your wife and she looks at you, and
you look at this beautiful baby and you're like, okay,
so it's us but don't be overly overwhelmed by that
because look how.
Speaker 2 (01:49:21):
Many people pull it off.
Speaker 3 (01:49:22):
Yeah okay, including everybody in this room, so we're not
overly impressive.
Speaker 12 (01:49:28):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (01:49:28):
And we have wonderful wives. But we did have to participate,
you know they couldn't we all, we all were involved.
And then I would say the do not have a
child centered home. Remember that the baby is coming into
you and your wives life. You're not being sucked into its.
Speaker 9 (01:49:46):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (01:49:46):
And and and get the baby on a schedule. Schedule,
schedule schedule baby wise is one that Sherry loved and
she's given that to many first time moms. Get the
baby on a schedule and h and enjoy the baby.
Don't let the baby overwhelm you. And the baby needs
structure in the schedule too. It's it's healthy for the man.
Speaker 2 (01:50:06):
And the day is it seems like chaos, okay, but
just know that you're in the professionals world. They do
this every day, multiple times a day, so lean on them,
and your number one focus be on your wife and
making sure she's okay. And enjoy the day as best
you can. Take lots of pictures, lots of videos, uh
and just share the moment enjoy it. Yeah, do not
(01:50:29):
let the chaos put go past you.
Speaker 3 (01:50:30):
And one person on the text line pretty funny and
really put off teaching it to talk.
Speaker 1 (01:50:38):
That's funny.
Speaker 6 (01:50:41):
Yes, and sleep when they sleep, when the kid is asleep, they.
Speaker 2 (01:50:45):
Nap in gotta get go to rest, leap when they sleep, and.
Speaker 6 (01:50:49):
Just enjoy the day and be thankful. Yeah, it's amazing thing.
The days are along with the years are shortly those quick.
Ruby's five now, y'all quick.
Speaker 2 (01:50:58):
We'll be back. Thanks for the phone calls. Good work.
We'll be right back here.
Speaker 1 (01:51:03):
This is the Rick Burgess Show, wherethy is the.
Speaker 18 (01:51:23):
Them who wslave?
Speaker 27 (01:51:27):
Holy?
Speaker 18 (01:51:28):
Holy?
Speaker 6 (01:51:29):
Is he.
Speaker 18 (01:51:35):
Sing a new song.
Speaker 2 (01:51:38):
To him who sits on.
Speaker 23 (01:51:43):
Heaven's macc We're back.
Speaker 2 (01:51:47):
Good Friday edition of the Rick Burdio Show. Thanks for
being with us.
Speaker 16 (01:51:51):
Where he is them bustling.
Speaker 27 (01:51:59):
Holy?
Speaker 3 (01:52:02):
Okay, so other stories to cover today. We do want
to point to this ongoing deal with Colorado and weather
or not. And by the way, a lot of people
responding to the guy who said you you the astronaut
word whatever, they didn't technically technically get into space, so
that one I don't even think they're meeting the criteria.
(01:52:24):
You're pointing out.
Speaker 6 (01:52:25):
They passed the Carmen line. Yeah, but not technically outer space.
Speaker 1 (01:52:29):
I guess.
Speaker 2 (01:52:30):
Yeah, so inner space, Yeah it is.
Speaker 3 (01:52:33):
Is that not the same thing? The red Bull parachute
got jumped from somewhere. That's crazy that yeah, yeah, another
texture it is stolen astronaut valor.
Speaker 6 (01:52:47):
Okay. The Carmen Line is one hundred kilometers above sea
level and it is officially marks the boundary between Earth's
atmosphere and outer space.
Speaker 2 (01:52:57):
Did they get there?
Speaker 6 (01:52:59):
They did pass the Carmen line?
Speaker 2 (01:53:00):
Okay, all right, who's Carmen.
Speaker 6 (01:53:03):
It's Carmen with a K, not like Carmen, the singer
from my childhood, right, but we could call him astro not.
Speaker 1 (01:53:16):
I see it.
Speaker 3 (01:53:17):
All right, speaking of this kind of thing, does Schador
Sanders meet the criteria past the Carmen line for a
jersey to be retired? And Dion Sanders is weighing in
on this, so now we're hearing from him. We talked
about the other day, but we're hearing dionside. The problem is,
and I have a lot of respect for Dion Sanders
(01:53:39):
in the way he coaches and what he's trying to do,
but really what he's saying is exactly what people is
why people think he shouldn't. They think he's getting treatment
because of the last name that he wouldn't get and
Dion's trying to say he's getting there. He's getting criticized, Greg,
this is Colorado.
Speaker 2 (01:53:56):
Yeah, but he's inside.
Speaker 6 (01:53:57):
Uh, he's actually going to talk about the the temperature
in the room. That's so funny you mentioned that.
Speaker 3 (01:54:02):
Okay, So here's here's Dionne Sanders weighing in on people
who are critical of Shade or his son Jersey, being
retired at Colorado.
Speaker 10 (01:54:11):
Let's get the elephant at the room. I don't want
to talk about this too long. I'm gonna just talk
briefly and let it go. We talking about Shador. We
ain't talking about nobody else. But his last name wasn't Sanders,
we wouldn't have discovered this discussion. The only reason we
were happing this discussion is his last name is Sanders. Okay,
(01:54:31):
that's it. It's been so many things accomplished at this university, expeditiously.
It's been unbelievable, and I think we should be appreciative,
we should be thankful. We have a room full of
wonderful people that covers us and I don't. I don't
know if you all were in this room two three
years ago. Some I mean very few, okay, but I
(01:54:52):
mean it's a new day. We're doing things a little different.
I think the training table, I think the food is better.
Nobody said nothing but that. It's a whole lot of
things that are brighter and they're better because someone stands
on business and makes it that way, and he's resigged
when it comes to it being that way, because everything
we do is to improve everything for us.
Speaker 2 (01:55:14):
I think it was hot in here one time.
Speaker 10 (01:55:16):
I say, let's turn it their an air condition over
on on that night game right the next time we
came in, what happened?
Speaker 2 (01:55:22):
I think about those details. I'm not sure what well
Dan look, he's saying that the two jerseys that are
being retired, Travis Hunter and Shadoor Sanders. The real issue
is is Shaud or Sanders. He's saying we're talking about
one one.
Speaker 3 (01:55:39):
Travis Hunters won the Heisman Trophy, not saying Shade is
not a great player good.
Speaker 2 (01:55:44):
I don't know if he has but not. I haven't
seen play that much. But the point is they've only
been what four five people they've ever retired. One of
them was a Heisman Trophy winner and one hundred and
thirty five years And then you're hearing from former players,
a lot of them say, these guys deserve it, but
not right now. It's too soon. There's other people that
should be retired ahead of them that are not.
Speaker 3 (01:56:06):
And you mentioned some of them the other day that
have played for Colorado that their jersey has yet to
be retired. Maybe it never will be. Yeah, but there's
a national championship team too.
Speaker 2 (01:56:15):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:56:16):
They're saying, why would we go ahead and retire these
young guys jerseys at their graduation or when they're leaving Colorado?
I mean immediately, And I would say, and I have
great respect for coach Sanders, I would say here, and
it's difficult when you're dealing with your own children, and
I get that, and you want to defend them, and
I respect that. But I think people are saying, he's
(01:56:38):
getting his jersey retired because he's your son. If his
name wasn't Sanders, he wouldn't be getting it retired. And
you're saying the reason why they're critical of him is
because of the last name.
Speaker 2 (01:56:50):
He's saying, his numbers don't lie with his numbers, his
jerseys should be retired and the only reason you have
a problem with him is because he's my.
Speaker 3 (01:56:56):
Son, right, and that's what his angle right, and the
critical angle is no the only reason why his jersey's
being retarded because you're.
Speaker 2 (01:57:03):
Like, yeah, and I agree with the players a lot
of them, I mean former players maybe that they deserve it,
but they don't deserve it right now, either one of them,
because it's too shiving them in too soon.
Speaker 3 (01:57:13):
And when you say see things like and I know numbers,
but I'm talking about impact on the program. Tim Tebow's
jersey isn't retired, right, Are we really prepared to say
that Shader Sanders has done more for Colorado than Tim
Tebow did for Florida?
Speaker 2 (01:57:26):
And it looks like up to this point, Colorado pretty
stingsy when it comes to retiring numbers. I mean you
got to really, because there's not many. You think he's
hurted up and doing this. The reason why it's now
because before he leaves, you can't get it.
Speaker 28 (01:57:39):
And Deon is he's already got a well and I
understand take care of this all the way out because
I ain't gonna be here and I do understand that
that Dion is saying Colorado hasn't had a lot to
cheer about in a while, and he's right, here's something
we can get excited about, and now we're being critical
of it.
Speaker 3 (01:57:54):
It makes us look like our program's actually doing something
to have two players that have played here that they're
retiring their jerseys.
Speaker 2 (01:57:59):
And I understand that too. Yeah, but before there was
a time when they were really good, and there are
a lot of good players come out of that. You're right,
exactly right, I'd probably deserve a jersey, right profession deal.
Speaker 3 (01:58:08):
Retiring a jersey to me, that standard, it just feels
a little like everything else we're doing. We're at one
time this standard was an elite standard, and we just
kind of lower it down to saying, let's retire people's
jerseys just if they were popular players and did some
pretty good things while they were there, yeah, and had
some big numbers. And when it comes to like, I mean,
(01:58:30):
Hunter's got the Heisman Trophy, so that gives him an age.
But like a lot of like Hall of Fame guys,
he's not a first ballot Hall of Fame, but one
day he will get in.
Speaker 2 (01:58:37):
You know, I think falls in that category. They may
retire it. It ain't right now, but one day they might.
Did you see where Travis Hunter came out and said
something to the effect of, if I can't play both
ways and I'm a quick football, if I can't play
both offensive defense, and I'm just going to start paying.
Speaker 6 (01:58:54):
He says he can dominate on both sides of the ball.
He's what he says he can do.
Speaker 2 (01:58:59):
Of course, next pretty difficult.
Speaker 1 (01:59:02):
This is the Rick Burgess Show.
Speaker 29 (01:59:17):
You better listen up.
Speaker 6 (01:59:20):
No what we say, ass I'm gonna tell.

Speaker 2 (02:02:02):
Did everyone on the show realize this? Hey bird? A bird?
Speaker 6 (02:02:05):
Uh?
Speaker 3 (02:02:05):
This is from Dylan. Speedy was destined to be bald.
He had, He had no saying it.
Speaker 2 (02:02:12):
The name Calvin stems from the French word shaw.
Speaker 3 (02:02:17):
They, which means bald. Are little before our little bald one.
That Speedy was always going to be bald. So your name,
he said, If you take his name and just do
a straight interpretation from French to English, and you're gonna
like this one.
Speaker 2 (02:02:35):
Speedy's name actually is the bald wonder. Yeah, oh I
like that. Huh, I think the bald one. You know,
I won't hear that your hand together for speed, the
bald Wonder getting shot out of a rock. There he goes,

loves that Alco? What is so mean?
Speaker 2 (02:03:47):
Papa?
Speaker 19 (02:03:48):

Speaker 2 (02:03:48):

Speaker 3 (02:03:49):

Speaker 3 (02:03:59):

Speaker 2 (02:04:08):

Speaker 2 (02:04:16):

Speaker 13 (02:04:16):

Speaker 2 (02:04:18):
Okay? Why is Nelly scared of you, Papa, and they're
scared of Melli brou whi'sical Rick coming back over, Papa,
Why look so young and you're so old? Papa is
Rick older than you?
Speaker 12 (02:04:33):
Wow?
Speaker 2 (02:04:35):
He said? Why does Rick wear that shirts?
Speaker 6 (02:04:40):
That?
Speaker 3 (02:04:41):
Uh? Reality has set back in. I go to work Monday.
Oh could I make your request? And this is interesting
because I remember this was done a long time ago,
but it wasn't Speedy who did it? But he wants
you to try it through the bald wonder. Can Speedy
the bald Wonder do? An impression of Freddie Mercury from
from Queen buck Teeth included thank you Malcolm South care
(02:05:05):
Mike in South Carolina.
Speaker 2 (02:05:06):
You got that sam buck tooth. How that is right?
And you got an English accent?
Speaker 6 (02:05:11):
Right?
Speaker 2 (02:05:12):
That's tough, that is but you do you do him?
Speaker 1 (02:05:14):
Nothing?
Speaker 3 (02:05:15):
They got it just like they get out there, nothing mad.
Speaker 6 (02:05:26):
Oh that's terrible.
Speaker 2 (02:05:37):
Uh So I close my eyes because I can't see
you looking at me, because I get I get embarrassed.
Speaker 3 (02:05:42):
Oh my goodness, Hey birds, hay birds, this is for Greg.
Like crap, Greg, don't make fun of all the female
space crew.
Speaker 11 (02:05:50):
Greg.
Speaker 3 (02:05:51):
Women will play an important role in space expiration. After all, Sam,
we just don't make themselves.
Speaker 2 (02:05:58):
Oh yeah, that's a good don't get that.
Speaker 3 (02:06:05):
I know you're asking, but you got to rattle in
pods and vans, I get it, astronauts me, uh and everybody.
Hey birds, hay birds, don't get me started on this one.
And uh, this this is just uh hey bird, hay bird.
Did you hear Katie Perry referring to divine feminine power
(02:06:31):
or whatever that to a goddess or something? You know
what all I hear raised better than that game? Well, yeah,
and she's rejected what what she at one time was
actually very seemed to be passionate about. So you know,
that's the thing that we were told by the one
that we're celebrating today. Just keep an eye on people.
Eventually you'll find out if all this is true or not.
(02:06:51):
But you know, I don't even want to spend time
on that because it's just so stupid. I mean, it's
one of those things. You know, this is the ultimate
in a very important area category, Greg, But it really
is just another version of trying to be sure what
watch watch me, watch me be edgy and pretend that
I know something about the creator of the universe that
(02:07:13):
nobody else knows it, and it's and it's divine and feminine,
is what I'm I mean, that's just I mean, it's
just it's just so stupid. It doesn't it's not even
worth it for a lot of times. What do you
think about that? You know what I'd answer, I think
that's stupid.
Speaker 2 (02:07:25):
Yeah, next, next, All right, we got more to cover,
so there we go.
Speaker 3 (02:07:30):
Thank you for those, and if you want to send
some to be considered, all you do is put in
the subject line hey verge a verge when you email me,
and we thank you for participating.
Speaker 2 (02:07:42):
We'll be back more of the Rick Burgess Show right

(02:08:31):
mister Osborne just told you, Relief Factor take it every
single day. Let me tell you that life can take
a toll on the body. Whether you're you're sitting for
too many hours, even at the computer, you work a
physical job. Maybe it's an injury, maybe maybe you are
a weekend warrior. Whatever the case may be. If your
(02:08:53):
problem is related to information, here comes a relief factor.
Relief is on the way. We got a three weeks
Lady Packed nineteen ninety five. Why three weeks? I'll tell
you why. It's not masking pain. It's not like the
over the counter stuff for some of the prescriptions that
mask pain, but they don't really deal with why you're
having the pain. If it's inflammation, these four botanicals will
(02:09:15):
go to work and they will solve the problem permanently.
Speaker 10 (02:09:19):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (02:09:20):
And that's not going to happen overnight. But if inflammation
is at the root of it, relief factor can help
and help naturally. It is part of my daily routine.
And like now when I have a look, I just
I take three packs versus two. Right here, look at
my range emotion.
Speaker 2 (02:09:34):
It's better. He's lifting his arms. So so there you go.
Speaker 3 (02:09:38):
Relief Factory dot Com shirt with him doing it. Rick
Burgess Show dot com under sponsors.
Speaker 2 (02:09:44):
Keep this up. I'm playing in this shirt next Thursday. Okay,
that's coming quick, next Thursday, is I mean, it's quick. Well,
let me tell you how real it is is Uh.
I told my wife about it. Of course, you know
the first day they're always very bold. You know what,
I think, I'll go with you that that's not going
to happen and so.
Speaker 3 (02:10:01):
Uh. But then I heard her yesterday going, hey, you
so and so and so and so we're thinking about
having dinner with them. What do you think about next Thursday?
I said, that's a softball game. I can't do next Thursday.
She said, well, you didn't put that on my calendar.
I said, we talked about it. So so anyway, so
I can already go out to eat after your victory.
Speaker 2 (02:10:18):
Well we'll see, all right, if you're escorted out for
some injury, carry it out.
Speaker 3 (02:10:22):
Yeah, well, well we'll see. I mean, I'm gonna take
it easy. This is just for a good cause and
time to be with the fans, not about trying to
be MVV or anything. Heard.
Speaker 2 (02:10:30):
So you do need to go early though, and go
into the museum there. Yeah, in the gift shop. It's
pretty cool. Yeah, no, I mean they have the the
old gloves out laid out for you them. See if
you can catch a ball in gloves, what do you
say them? You're gonna go you know what, I'm sorry
speak to go find me and said, I'm so sorry
I didn't give you enough on these gloves. Yeah, I
know they're tiny globs. No, you don't know. You don't know.
(02:10:53):
You don't realize gloves. It's a little bit bigger in
your hand. And they were catching with them right with
very little Patty, are you I need love? I'll bring
it him up. Who dares me to play one of those?
Speaker 12 (02:11:03):
I do?
Speaker 2 (02:11:04):
Well, you won't catch a thing? No like shoeless Joe Jack. No,
I don't want to do that.
Speaker 22 (02:11:08):
All right.
Speaker 3 (02:11:09):
A couple of things from Trump and Greg. This one,
this first one you were going to just it's as
if sometimes I think Trump is saying, I'm gonna do
something for Greg today. Okay, all right, So so here
he is and Greg. His topic is Jimmy Carter and
Joe Biden. And that's all I'm gonna say that almost
And I want you to listen to this. This one
(02:11:31):
here is President Trump.
Speaker 11 (02:11:34):
We're useless.
Speaker 30 (02:11:35):
It wasn't competent, worst administration in the issue of our country,
worst than Jimmy Carter.
Speaker 11 (02:11:40):
Jimmy Carter died a happy man. You know why because
he wasn't the worst president. Joe Biden was.
Speaker 2 (02:11:49):
So uh, that's why he died a happy man because
he thought he was greg but now he wasn't. That's
that one has been that one has a two for
in it.
Speaker 3 (02:12:00):
First of all, he's talking, he's talking about Joe Biden,
how however he was and all that. Okay, but it
gets a twofer because Jimmy Carter just recently died, So
then he gets to go for a twofer to be
insensitive on that as well. Is that he died a
happy man. Why because now he's not the worst president? Good?
Speaker 2 (02:12:21):
Good point, good point.
Speaker 3 (02:12:23):
And he couldn't wait to say you say, make sure
you got eybody's attention.
Speaker 2 (02:12:28):
Okay.
Speaker 3 (02:12:29):
So now a reporter is asking Trump about his meetings
with Iran and he wants to know has he waved
off an Israeli plan to attack a run.
Speaker 2 (02:12:38):
So here here's his answer to that.
Speaker 11 (02:12:48):
And they said the attack is what I wouldn't say
waved off.
Speaker 30 (02:12:56):
I'm not in a rush to do it because I
think that Iran has a chance to have a great
country and to live happily without death, and I'd like
to see that. That's my first option. If there's a
second option, I think it would be very bad for Iran.
And I think Iran is wanting to talk. I hope
(02:13:19):
they're wanting to talk. It's going to be very good
for them if they do. And I'd like to see
Iran thrive in the future, do fantastically well.
Speaker 11 (02:13:28):
I know the Iranian people.
Speaker 30 (02:13:29):
They're incredible people, always have been, very smart, very energetic,
very successful people.
Speaker 11 (02:13:35):
And I don't want to do anything that's going to
hurt anybody. I really don't. But Iran can't have a
nuclear weapon. It's pretty simple. It's really simple.
Speaker 30 (02:13:46):
We're not looking to take their industry, we're not looking
to take their land, we're not.
Speaker 11 (02:13:52):
All we're saying is you can't have a nuclear weapon.
Speaker 3 (02:13:55):
Very simple, very simple. Greg I Notici threw in that
the Iranian people are energetic. Here everybody knows that. I
didn't know the energy that's but apparently, of course I
get distracted. I can't what is that weird bust that's
behind him that looks like something from a horror movie.
Speaker 2 (02:14:11):
I do not know, do you not saying? That's all
I can stare out.
Speaker 8 (02:14:14):
I do not know.
Speaker 3 (02:14:15):
It's some weird face, that's what That's what you're doing
the whole time, the whole time. That's what you're looking.
Speaker 2 (02:14:20):
Is that Churchill look? Is it possibly that creepy or
what it is? Creepy? Thanks? Greg? Now that's all I
can I.
Speaker 6 (02:14:29):
Don't care for the term bust.
Speaker 2 (02:14:30):
Frankly, that's what they call him.
Speaker 6 (02:14:32):
I know something else.
Speaker 3 (02:14:35):
Italy's Prime Minister and I don't even know how to
say her name, but she's she's really upsetting everybody in
the EU. G uh, Geory, Georija. But anyway, she's here
and she says she's negotiating a trade deal uh with
with Trump and and even when it's far in the
(02:14:57):
second clip to say a phrase, it's ridly on the
episode of People. But let's get clipped clip one first.
Here she is at the White House.
Speaker 2 (02:15:03):
Now you are George Mila on it.
Speaker 3 (02:15:07):
So and she's shaking him with Trump, meeting with Trump,
trying to negotiate a trade deal.
Speaker 6 (02:15:12):
And this is a big deal because her being part
of the European Union.
Speaker 3 (02:15:19):
Rogue, a little rogue, and look at it. On the
second one, She's gonna stun the world. Hey, stun the
world by saying the follow with raiser.
Speaker 10 (02:15:30):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (02:15:31):
So here you listen to what she has to say.
Speaker 18 (02:15:33):
The goal for me is to make the West great again, okay,
and I think we can do it together.
Speaker 2 (02:15:39):
I think we can do it and we will keep
on work on that.
Speaker 11 (02:15:44):
I'm going to close.
Speaker 18 (02:15:45):
I want to say only I'm proud of sitting here
as Prime minister over on Italy that today as very good,
as a very good situation, despite the difficulties of stable country,
reliable country, one more jobs in the Yes.
Speaker 6 (02:16:03):
That's a spy sent me at the ball I'm going
to make the West the great again.
Speaker 3 (02:16:08):
And throwing throwing out Trump's phrase.
Speaker 2 (02:16:11):
Uh huh, I bet this.
Speaker 9 (02:16:13):
Bet.
Speaker 2 (02:16:15):
Do you think some of you just didn't have a conniption?
Speaker 6 (02:16:19):
She is a she's more nationalist versus being a globalist,
and a lot of people did not want her in power,
and she I'm just gonna read it really quick.
Speaker 12 (02:16:29):
Uh.
Speaker 6 (02:16:29):
In a recent speech, she said they said I would
destroy Italy, but they were wrong. Employment it is at
record high, the economy is growing. Illegal immigration has decreased
by sixty percent, and we are expanding freedom in every
aspect of Italians lives, pro pro national, not globalist. Common sense.
It works, it improves countries.
Speaker 2 (02:16:51):
Who I'm gonna start to working with the Trump who
would have thought, yeah, that's yeah, you can't stop talking
like that if you start, why.
Speaker 4 (02:16:59):
Don't dood the rest of the show, so all over
everybody thought her, I did not so Trump and I
how to spaghett deal. We will not to eat of
the bugs.
Speaker 2 (02:17:17):
I gonna make you smile. You gotta cover now, Greg,
We're gonna do it when we come back. Burgis Ball
battle were just a meat the ball we will be uh,
we'll see who wins.
Speaker 3 (02:17:38):
Here in the old box seats, there were two random
names your head to head for a shot at the
wheel of bundles, Bits and bunch.
Speaker 1 (02:17:48):
And this is the Rick Burgess Show. It's like eating
(02:18:10):
lunch at the cool table the Rick Burgess Show.
Speaker 2 (02:18:16):
Welcome in, hanging out and having a blast. So we
are going to be.
Speaker 3 (02:18:23):
Looking here at our friends in the box seats. Now,
first we will do a Burgess ball battle. Then we
will the ones who desire they'll all be introduced and
the ones that would like to will come to the
Big Boy microphone for a quick shout out a question
they might want to ask, et cetera.
Speaker 2 (02:18:41):
So that's all going to happen in the next couple
of segments.
Speaker 3 (02:18:44):
Charles Billingsley coming up next hour, will ask him what
it was like to go to the White House and
sing for the president, So that'll be coming up in
the next hour. So, speedy, what we need now? We
need you to draw out a couple of names. Okay,
did Greg can draw? Greg has drawn them? So y'all
(02:19:04):
blamed Greg if you didn't make it. Yep, So speedy,
I'm gonna start the intro.
Speaker 2 (02:19:09):
Tell us who's in the battle today? The mock seats
number three? Here is Philip rushing Philip, come on, over
coming over. Philip is gonna be sitting actually playing against
Who's sitting in seat nine? Emily Sanders? Emily Emily, Emily
(02:19:32):
Sanders is in the house. Baby shot at the wib yep,
Emily's been in on the court here, we're over here
at the court. We're looking at it here. Okay, Now,
Emily's gonna be to your right, Phillip's to your left.
You be by girl. We're not gonna I'm gonna turn
it on do you have any questions? No, you're good,
You're good.
Speaker 9 (02:19:51):
Greg.
Speaker 2 (02:19:52):
All right, here we go. Emily step up. All right,
we're gonna get this thing going. I'm gonna hit a
couple of buttons here. You're gonna have thirty seconds. Okay, uh,
hold on, all right, that's all right, good and wait
and go alright, sir, and it has begun.
Speaker 11 (02:20:08):
All right.
Speaker 2 (02:20:08):
We have Philip on the left, Emily on the right.
Philip is up to now only just one. Philip's up
four to two. Emily just scored. Now it's oh six,
four sixty six now okay. Now Philip is up eight six.
This is ten six, twelve six. Okay, he's on a
run right now it's twelve six Emily.
Speaker 11 (02:20:27):
Here, w we go.
Speaker 2 (02:20:28):
Everything counts as three now fifteen to nine. Philip fifteen twelve, fifteen, fifteen, eighteen, eighteen, eighteen,
and is twenty one. She won Emily on twenty one one,
twenty one, eight ten. What a comeback. Oh my goodness,
the three pointers made all the difference.
Speaker 6 (02:20:48):
I did not see that.
Speaker 2 (02:20:49):
Come on, Oh my goodness, come up, he's gonna be
our ship game, both of y'all. Come up, y'all, come up,
Come on up, Philip, Come on up, Emily. Don't be afraid.
It's just a whill. You get to spind. Okay, so
you step up real quick and then Philip will have
(02:21:12):
you spin and you'll just see what you might have won. Okay,
but then yeah, yeah, take it away all right, So
you must look at us.
Speaker 6 (02:21:21):
That was crazy.
Speaker 2 (02:21:21):
That was a crazy game. Well done, Emily. Wow, Emily,
what a come by.
Speaker 3 (02:21:28):
Just breathe, Just take a deep breath. It's all right, Philip.
Tough ride for you in the vehicle today with your friends. Okay, fine, Emily,
did you play any basketball?
Speaker 28 (02:21:41):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (02:21:42):
You did? You could tell she's a ringer. All right,
So you say to me when you're ready, it's will
to me. It's will to me.
Speaker 3 (02:21:49):
Then you just spend it and we'll see what happens.
All right, when you're ready, say it, it's.
Speaker 2 (02:21:53):
Will to me. All right, go ahead, get it to see.
No money, yeah, no money.
Speaker 6 (02:22:10):
One click away.
Speaker 3 (02:22:11):
It landed on Greg. So all she's gonna hear is
great complain about something? And so, Greg, is there anything
that is bothering you today?
Speaker 2 (02:22:19):
Emily wants to know.
Speaker 3 (02:22:21):
Well, it keeps coming up and I have to address
it all the time. That Maverick was any even close
to top Gun.
Speaker 2 (02:22:27):
It wasn't the mocked ten and you bail out not
any good. Y'all had it built up so bad, and
I was so excited about it. I go to the theater,
got me some popcorn, spent a fortune, and y'all had
built it up, and then I left me a little
bit dry.
Speaker 3 (02:22:42):
I'm sorry, so you didn't live up to you talking
about not living up the hype, and I blame all
of y'all. Maverick the movie you have thought Rick had
seen ben her it was sweedy. I mean, my goodness,
it was like I mean, cinematographer, you've never seen anything
like that.
Speaker 2 (02:22:56):
I said, it was a breath of fresh air. There
was a lot of bad movies during that. It might
have been happened.
Speaker 3 (02:23:00):
It ain't even close. I think Capler was the one
that went crazy.
Speaker 2 (02:23:04):
He's too young.
Speaker 6 (02:23:05):
You never saw him Everick, No, you never.
Speaker 3 (02:23:09):
I checked at Mark ten. Then I walked into a restaurant.
Im wait a minute, we kicked him out of the program.
Wait a minute, somebody is in a plane unannounced going
through the course. Remember that, Yeah, stupid, thanks for nothing?
Like the first one was outstanding. I watched it every
time it's on. Emily, you won, but then we all off.
Speaker 2 (02:23:28):
Yeah, so look at what you want, Emily.
Speaker 3 (02:23:31):
All right, so Philip, let's let's add insult to injury.
Do you remember where Emily started Helium boy and Helium Boy?
All right, So so Philip, what we're gonna find out
now is what could have happened that you have to
say it's not.
Speaker 2 (02:23:46):
Will to me, go back to go back to one click.
You gotta go out one click. I now say it's
not will to me. All he would have gone revert. Okay, interesting, Okay,
Let's let's see what would have happened for Philip. It's
gonna land on five hundred right here, Oh Philip, oh
oh moments one click away. Okay, all right, so we're
all right, then all is not lost. Well, he would
(02:24:07):
have won, bath I know, who would have thought? Emily
would have done one for the ladies? What a shot?
String music we call it down there in the South.
So still gotten Still, I'm sorry, really I should not
have done that. But let's look at those vox seats.
I'm always say I'm olding the vox seats. Today maybe
(02:24:32):
I got it.
Speaker 3 (02:24:38):
Donna and Wanda Whidley, make your way to the big boy.
Speaker 2 (02:24:41):
Min Oh, here they come. It is Donna and Wanda,
and they're gonna make their way. I have to ask
Wanda right out of the gate. Okay.
Speaker 3 (02:24:52):
So the fact that back in the thirty one years
of Rick and Bubba, probably the biggest hit of those
thirty one years is a story called Willy and Wanda.
Speaker 2 (02:25:03):
You get that? Was my question? No you are not,
And we could tell no, you are not because you
haven't sworn once since you've been here today stumped a
cigarette out in the hallway. Right yeah.
Speaker 3 (02:25:16):
So so Donna and Wanda, So you do you guys
have any shout out your questions?
Speaker 2 (02:25:22):
Go ahead, Well, I shout out to Silas and Michayla,
my son and doldren Law at home, and to all
my friends at work and.
Speaker 21 (02:25:32):

Speaker 3 (02:25:38):
Okay, well that's that's great. What about said?
Speaker 2 (02:25:40):

my husband who's making the money at work while I'm not.
Speaker 2 (02:25:48):
She got a peep shirt on not I. I don't
even like Pete.
Speaker 3 (02:25:51):
Well neither did Greg because he was traumatized because the
Easter Bunny kept giving him two packs of peech pizza,
gave me two chocolate bunnies.
Speaker 2 (02:25:58):
Brick, I got to the bottom of it. Were in
the Growl store of the day, you know the displays.
I didn't know this, Mom pointed, So I love peeps,
so that explains it. Oh so Mom's the one that
loves peeps, she said she liked. Do you see the
the viral videos going out that guy tried to eat
up hot dog in the in Peeps bun for you
use peeps for buns? Somebody saim, I hope it was
(02:26:19):
pretty great and it looked real packaging of sardine flavored. Yeah,
I think that was Hopefully that was a prime Oh
my gracious, why do you think they eat money always
gave you two packs?
Speaker 3 (02:26:27):
Yeah, I wonder wreck and how you ended up with
two chocolate bunny. Bunny likes me better. Bunny likes me better? Well,
thinking where a y'all from.
Speaker 2 (02:26:40):
White White spread Georgia's.

Speaker 2 (02:26:55):
We have some that do not thank you ladies.
Speaker 3 (02:26:57):
We have some that do not want to be on
the big boy mind stays hot, so we'll meet the
rest of the box seats the next hour.
Speaker 2 (02:27:06):
Charles Billingsley joins us. He sang for the President. I
believe day before yesterday, So are with it yesterday? I
know it was day I think that before. We'll be back.
More of the Rick Burgess Show coming out right after this.
Speaker 1 (02:27:21):
This is the Rick Burgess Show. Only in America. Could
these four men do this for a living God bless America?

all that this weekend represents in redemption for all who
are willing to repent.
Speaker 2 (02:27:58):

We also talked about it's a two hundred and fiftieth
birthday of the midnight ride from Paul Revere the Fifth
that ignited our fight for freedom. Shine two lights for liberty.
I know Greg the valley will be illuminated this weekend.
That's right, run down the driveway. Thank you, buddy. We're
also saying hello to our folks in the box seats.
(02:28:23):
We've talked to Donna and Wanda. Wanda brought gifts for
us and our wives.
Speaker 2 (02:28:28):
Yes, way, oh so sweet, even Super Tom and his wife,
Gary and his wife, I mean everybody. Yeah, that's so sweet.
Speaker 3 (02:28:34):
The issue though, well, no, Greg, what I noticed I
looked there's a gift for everybody.
Speaker 2 (02:28:39):
There's not one for you. But for some reason, I
have two. Yeah, I figured that that happened again. So
so let's bring Philip Rushing and Brian pull them. I'm
gonna show the big boy mind. Come on over, Philip
and Brian. Philip also known as back in Place. But
(02:29:00):
I mean, how are you? Nice? Lead? Yeah? Nice look?
Speaker 1 (02:29:07):
And lost it?
Speaker 3 (02:29:07):
Yeah, I think you something happened. I mean you were
rolling and Emily was pressing, and then suddenly did you
look to see.
Speaker 2 (02:29:14):
What she was doing?
Speaker 22 (02:29:15):
No, No, I started trying to bank them in and
lost my touch right there.
Speaker 2 (02:29:18):
I think she was sandbagging on you.
Speaker 11 (02:29:20):
And then.
Speaker 3 (02:29:21):
When it got three pointer times, she came a lot
she said, and here I am so uh you you
were from where enterprise, Alabama enterprise?
Speaker 2 (02:29:29):
But you said before that you lived, we lived. I
lived in Tallahassee, Tallahassee.
Speaker 22 (02:29:33):
Yeah, so he's from me, he's from Evansville and down.
Speaker 3 (02:29:36):
Okay, all right, yeah yeah, and now you're you're both
are in Enterprise now, is that right? So any any
shout outs or any questions you want to ask?
Speaker 22 (02:29:43):
I just want to say out to my wife. I
hope she's listening. If not, we'll watch this later tonight.
Speaker 3 (02:29:47):
Okay said that's the beauty of the Armhives. You can
go back and see that. You might want to skip
the part where you're playing basketball.
Speaker 22 (02:29:52):
We're definitely. She was hoping I'd bring home some money
and she said we split it.
Speaker 2 (02:29:56):
If I did, that's not gonna happen. Brian, how about you?
What's your story? Buddy?
Speaker 3 (02:30:02):
Are we know you came uh to Enterprise, Alabama via
Evansville right in Indiana.
Speaker 2 (02:30:08):
Yeah, so what what's you got? A shout out? Her question?
Speaker 3 (02:30:11):
And sir Okay, do you feel look, yeah, do you
feel a kinship with Speedy? Does he represents the Bald community?
Speaker 2 (02:30:19):
Well? Yes, we all kind of just nod at each other.
We know what it's like. What was that his name
was the Calvin Bald and Beautiful? I think was it was?
We just talked about it that one. What about Jamie
(02:30:41):
and Andrew Sanders, Jamie and Andrews and.
Speaker 3 (02:30:45):
South Carolina and also Jonathan Sanders. Where's Jonathan South Carolina
in the mix? So the Sanders and what part of
South Carolina?
Speaker 2 (02:30:58):
From? It's upstated from We're from Bulling Springs. Bullying Spring
is in Spartanburg County. You know, you know Greg Greg.
Speaker 3 (02:31:06):
Ghoest right through Buling Springs on the home every day.
It is the name of the road Bowling Springs. We
talked about this the Man conference Spartanburg. That's the home
of David Peter Pearson.
Speaker 2 (02:31:14):
He thought I didn't know what. Another one the home
of the Marshall Tucker Band written, I didn't know that
that we did not know. Wait a minute, you didn't
know something I knew David Pearson. Wait a minute. I
think I may have heard that.
Speaker 12 (02:31:26):
I heard it, and I.
Speaker 2 (02:31:27):
Love like Marshall Tucker Band. I'm responsible for bringing in
the ringer.
Speaker 3 (02:31:35):
Uh huh oh yeah, what Emily?
Speaker 2 (02:31:37):
Were you proud of her? Absolutely? Did you know that
you could shoot? Yes?
Speaker 10 (02:31:42):
I did?
Speaker 2 (02:31:42):
Okay, do you do you have any shout out your
questions you want to ask? Actually, my wife's aunt and
uncle living Bessemer Ralph and Bib Taylor.
Speaker 3 (02:31:52):
Going to visit, all right, Well, any of any questions
or comments from the rest of the Sanders, Yeah, all right,
we got one, okay, And I.
Speaker 2 (02:32:02):
Just want to say thank you to my wife for
being such a good ball player.
Speaker 11 (02:32:05):
That's right.
Speaker 2 (02:32:06):
That's it. Well, and thank y'all for the strawberries from
South Carolina. That's awesome. That's awesome. Yeah, I was showing
your family a happy East. Thank you, buddy.
Speaker 1 (02:32:19):
You're a man.
Speaker 3 (02:32:22):
To America needs freedom and national freedom. On the same day,
confused about my list? Now, well that's it, right, that's it.
Speaker 2 (02:32:34):
Yeah, Yeah, Leslie and Emily Sanders are here. They chose not.
We have Leslie and Emily and Emily you heard in
the game, and neither one of them desired to come
to the big boy Mike. She said, I want I
don't need to say anything said. Yeah, that's what she said,
is enough said, that's it. That's all right.
Speaker 3 (02:32:49):
So there's there's some things that you I tried to
talk about and men to go. Of course, you know,
y'all jumped all over me about the Mode ball, about this.
Y'all jumped on me about multiple things when you all
target yeh, goodness, you might as well just said, hey, y'all,
go ahead. I don't want the audience to see something traumatizing. Okay, yeah,
I don't push me in the corner. Now, we doesn't
talk about the shirt.
Speaker 2 (02:33:10):
Let's let it go.
Speaker 3 (02:33:10):
Okay, great, don't make I'm gonna come by that corner
in a minute. And there was a ball open too.
But the h look at our gifts. But I was
trying to tell y'all that I continue to become more
handy and handsome. There's nothing I can do there. Yeah, right,
But yesterday noticed door knob a little loose. Well it's
(02:33:33):
a rough one, and got out the Phillips said, and Cherry,
I said, hold that weapon, I said, I said, the
master bedroom. We've got something gotta I got a knob
loose And she goes, yeah, it does. It does feel
a little loose. I said, hang on, baby, I got that.
And of course she's covered in dirt and and you know,
but I don't hear you harping a lot on the garden.
She says she doesn't want me to be out there,
so I can't imagine why. Yeah, I said, what you
(02:33:56):
do that, I'll take care of it, and and so
you know I did walk that on. She's out there
playing and digging and just covered in dirty door knobs.
Speaker 2 (02:34:03):
Tight now, Philip saying, got it, she's using that blow
or she probably needs to yesterday, right there, Ed, that's
exactly what I did. I'm gonna tell you you are
an architect. Right, righty, righty righty righty righty righty righty
righty righty righty righty righty righty right got it? Got it.
Speaker 3 (02:34:22):
I know why he's not being help in the gard
set years. This probably goes about years she wanted him
to help. He used to do this when we were kids.
He got out there and messed it up, and then
it's one just get out, just do it myself. He
used to do that all the time and Dad would say, great,
just do it.
Speaker 2 (02:34:35):
Rick's tearing everything up. Okay.
Speaker 3 (02:34:37):
Maybe he would wake at you, Oh yeah, you need
to go over and do whatever you wanted to do.
Maybe that did it was some sort of golden rod
something I remember it. Yeah, I know you and I
didn't fully comprehend how deep the whole needed to be.
Speaker 2 (02:34:51):
And you've been banned. You know what happened. That's a
good gout of work. Yeah, you go out there looking
this lad over on the side. Yeah.
Speaker 11 (02:35:00):
Dry.
Speaker 2 (02:35:00):
Now did I hear something else about yesterday? Since you're handy, right,
Not only did you do that? Did I hear you
say you went to a home improvement store? Sure? Did?
You normally don't go anywhere near those places. Had to
run in there.
Speaker 3 (02:35:13):
And by the way, I had to fix loas yesterday.
I had to fix los wow.
Speaker 2 (02:35:19):
Lows. What what are y'all do it?
Speaker 3 (02:35:22):
If somebody needs a leaf blower battery, you can't have
the leaf blower batteries over in tools. That's not a
fishing at all. They are to be hanging here right
next to the leaf blowers. So they didn't have them
the same So I'm over around the leaf blowers. One
of the batteries for the leaf blower went bad, you know.
And and so now that you're handy, you can go
get them. So Shay, you just somehow fix it. So
(02:35:43):
I walked outside. I said, maybe what's wrong with the
leaf blower because I'm not using it? And uh, and
she said the batteries going back. Can you go get
us another battery? I'm on it, and so uh, I
just finished the door knob, go get the batteries and
I and I went in there and somebody wal so
I said, but where's the batteries? And even the guy
had to go and pull it up and all that,
(02:36:04):
and he goes, oh, it's over in tools. I said, well,
why would it be in tools? Are these batteries for tools?
Are they batteries for leaf blowers? I can and and
he said, I don't know why they're over there. And
I said, this has got to change. And I try
to talk to a manager and she didn't seem I
bet she didn't. She did not listen.
Speaker 2 (02:36:19):
So you're holding not that shirt on that was yesterday. No,
I had a different shirt on your day. Yesterday.
Speaker 3 (02:36:23):
I was wearing the very outdoorsy mink shirt.
Speaker 6 (02:36:27):
And uh.
Speaker 3 (02:36:27):
And they must know what he's talking about, which represents
a local farmer. So everybody probably had an illusion that
maybe I formed.
Speaker 12 (02:36:36):
And uh.
Speaker 3 (02:36:36):
And I said, I said, y'all, y'all don't have these
batteries in the right place. And she said, well, that
that's where we keep all the batteries that might be
for tools or leaf blowers. So you took time to
actually go up and ask I said, if if people
are looking for batteries for the leaf blower. I think
they should be by the leaf blowers. And even the
little fellow next to me, I nodded his head, like,
you know, he's a little fellow. He was a little person.
(02:36:58):
I got him little, not not not vertically blessed, and so.
Speaker 6 (02:37:04):
We uh, just because something is shorter than you doesn't
make him like a little fella.
Speaker 14 (02:37:07):
I know.
Speaker 2 (02:37:08):
I didn't say, I don't mean that negative. I mean
that like you don't mean it's a little fella. Here
he was agreeing with me.
Speaker 3 (02:37:14):
I think I mean that that was an observation, like
if he'd been six or eight, I would have said
it was a really tall fella, and nobody would have
said a word about that.
Speaker 6 (02:37:23):
I heard that that that little fellow went to his
manager and said, hey, some fact, I said, we need
to put the battery next to the leaklak there you go.
Speaker 2 (02:37:29):
See he had a boy shirt. See, nobody has a
problem with that, you know what I mean.
Speaker 3 (02:37:33):
But you say someone was small, and suddenly it's some
kind of derogatory statement.
Speaker 1 (02:37:37):
This is the Rick Burgess Show, Got a fin The
(02:38:06):
Voice of Reason in an Unreasonable World, The Rick Burchard Show.
Speaker 3 (02:38:12):
That's right, baby coming to you. It is good Friday,
and we are so thankful that you're here today. Enjoy
your weekend as we remember the greatest gift ever given.
Speaker 2 (02:38:27):
We have a line still to cover this hour.
Speaker 3 (02:38:30):
Speedy Gregg and Adler are still hear the box seats,
our jam.
Speaker 2 (02:38:34):
Packs and we are rolling off.
Speaker 3 (02:38:39):
He is on the back nine, fresh off singing for
the President himself. We speak, of course, of our friend
Charles Billingsley. You are actually playing golf, Charles, like right now.
Speaker 8 (02:38:55):
At this moment, not with potus, just myself, yes, and
my friends. Yeah, but how he if he was available,
he'd want to be here.
Speaker 3 (02:39:03):
Yeah, how are you? How are you hitting him?
Speaker 14 (02:39:05):
Uh?
Speaker 8 (02:39:06):
You know, it's it's not it's not a good day, Rick.
I just double bogey to par five and that is
about as bad as it gets.
Speaker 2 (02:39:11):
Oh, I am so sorry.
Speaker 3 (02:39:12):
I don't even know anything about golf, and I know
that's bad, man.
Speaker 2 (02:39:16):
I'm sorry.
Speaker 8 (02:39:18):
No, No, it really was bad. I lost my drive
to the right, had to take a penalty stroke and
it just went downhill from there. But you know what,
it's a new hole, it's a new day, yep, it's
a new start.
Speaker 30 (02:39:28):
You know.
Speaker 3 (02:39:29):
This is why I don't think this game is for me. No,
she Speedy's been working with me and Greg.
Speaker 2 (02:39:33):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (02:39:33):
You've probably heard about it, teaching us how to drive
the ball and pray for me.
Speaker 8 (02:39:38):
No, I've not heard about this.
Speaker 3 (02:39:40):
Yeah, I'll send you. I'll send you a picture. But
the about hit one about three seventy five. But it's
not bad, it's about at all. It's sixty years old.
I mean, we didn't measure it. It just looked that
far to me.
Speaker 8 (02:39:52):
Yeah, it just worked that far.
Speaker 2 (02:39:54):
Sure, Yeah, it seemed to go a long way as well.
Speaker 8 (02:39:57):
It can be a little deceptive, you know, sometimes what
feels like three seventy five was actually about one't eighty.
Speaker 3 (02:40:03):
Yeah, but you know what, until somebody measures it, it's
my story.
Speaker 8 (02:40:07):
Uh, that's a very good point.
Speaker 3 (02:40:09):
Let's talk a little bit. What what how did you
end up at the White House? We watched uh and
Adams just showing it again. We watched the President i
mean get up out of his seat and come over
to shake your hand, uh, and talk about how wonderful
you you saying, which is not surprising. I mean, the
glory to God. Let's face it, you had nothing to
do with it. But uh, but you you you you
(02:40:31):
have a great voice, and so what what how did
you How did you end up there and.
Speaker 2 (02:40:36):
How did it go?
Speaker 8 (02:40:38):
Well, you know, I think he just liked the Paisley
rompers I was wearing so good. I'm just I'm just kidding.
Speaker 2 (02:40:47):
Yeah, you know what.
Speaker 14 (02:40:49):
It was.
Speaker 8 (02:40:50):
It was a really surreal moment. I mean I got
a call from the Faith Commission on the Wednesday prior
to that, and they asked me if I could come,
and they said, now listen, he likes he likes more
operatic stuff. And they said, we heard that you can
do some opera, but we wanted to be Christian because
it's an Easter dinner. And so I shot them a
(02:41:10):
couple of options, you know, by way of email, and
they chose a couple of songs. And what I didn't
know is that he was actually going to be in
the room. I mean, he actually walked in and then
the next thing I know, they're introducing me. And so
I started off our meeting with the Lord's Prayer And
when I got done with the Lord's Prayer, I was
going to go into my next song. And I started
(02:41:30):
to go on my next song and he literally just
stands up and he goes, hang on, hang on, I
want to I want to come meet you and shake
your hand, and he complimenting my voice and stuff. And
it was very very kind. It was a really very
surreal moment. And I'll be honest with you, man, I
didn't know what to do. I thought, well, gosh, I'm
in trouble. He's what's he coming after me for? But
the truth is he was just being very kind and gracious.
(02:41:52):
And you know, he walks in the room. It's like
you see him every day on TV and you just think, wow,
you know, and you know he walks in the room,
you feel like you know him because you see him
so much. But it was a really weird moment. But
I shook his hand and I'm walking back to the
mike emotions for me to go ahead and go back
to the mic and finish my second song. And it
was the weirdest thing. Suddenly all my nerves went away
(02:42:14):
and I was just fine, because you know what it was.
It was the strangest thing. I had prayed that the
Lord would annoyed this moment. And and I walked away
and I said, man, in my mind, I was like, man,
I just I just shook hands with a president, but
I'm I'm here to sing for a king.
Speaker 11 (02:42:30):
Hey man, that's so good.
Speaker 8 (02:42:33):
And I'll be honest with you, it's just everything, all
the nerves went away and I just decided, you know what,
we're gonna worship the Lord right here.
Speaker 19 (02:42:40):
And we did.
Speaker 8 (02:42:40):
And I'm telling you, the Lord just annoying at that moment.
And it was a powerful, powerful moment. And you know,
he I don't know really where he stands with the Lord,
but I knew now this he is very pro evangelicalism,
and I you know, if he's not a born again believer,
I know this, he loves Christians and he is a
Bible and he loves what Easter is about. And so
(02:43:04):
I thanked him for, you know, honoring Easter the way
it's meant to be honored. And it was pretty cool.
It was just a great moment.
Speaker 3 (02:43:11):
Yeah, we watched that moment when you said that, and
I think you're right. And we've said this a number
of times, and I know I've heard others. I think
Franklin Graham said something similar. You know, it's we're unsure,
you know, it's not our call of you know, is
he truly redeemed? But what we can say he's not
an enemy of the church, and he seems to be
(02:43:31):
an advocate for the church. And when you look at
the posts that he put out from he and his
wife versus some of the posts that were put out
under the last administration and others before that administration. We
don't know what his personal situation is with God, but
we sure do know when he publicly talks about the faith,
he doesn't pull any punches.
Speaker 8 (02:43:53):
No, he does not. And that's why I so appreciate him.
You know, people like him or love him. You know,
some people can't standing or whatever. I've gotten quite a
few little hate notes about this boat.
Speaker 3 (02:44:04):
Sure, yeah, yeah, God forbid, God give you an opportunity
to sing at the White House and you don't go.
Like you said, there's a lot of things we do
in life that we're not sure God, is this something
that you're setting up this one. I don't think you
had to ask and you knew.
Speaker 10 (02:44:18):
It was No.
Speaker 8 (02:44:19):
I mean, like, I just want to ask all these people. Okay,
So if the President calls you to come sing, you're
gonna say no, come on, I mean, you know, and
truth is, if Obama would have called me or whatever,
I'd still go because of the honoring of the office.
Speaker 3 (02:44:32):
You know, you don't think the Apostle Paul wouldn't have
strutted in that room if God opened that door.
Speaker 8 (02:44:38):
Absolutely he would have. I mean, look at Felix, look
at the you know, the Festus, there's all kinds of thing. Yeah, yep,
So you know what, it's just an honor and I
do so appreciate the fact that he acknowledges Christ the
way he does, and the meaning of Easter the way
he does. It's a really awesome, awesome thing. So I'm
(02:44:59):
thrilled have gotten to do it. I hope I get
to do it again. And you know, we'll see. But
it's sure started my Easter week off good.
Speaker 10 (02:45:07):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (02:45:07):
Well yeah, and thanks for sharing that moment with us
and always and cutting up and having fun and look
for the next time we're together. But before you go,
I have to I have to look at this text
that was just sent here. This is our friendship and
in a nutshell text. Okay, all right, so you came
to Madison, Mississippi, over ten years ago. I didn't realize
how long we've been friends. By the way, uh to
(02:45:30):
sing at one of our church's Christmas specials. Now you're
gonna love this, Charles, You're about to this. This will
get you for the back nine. Okay after the service.
After the service, Charles stayed up front to talk with people.
Our youth director was around the age of twenty two
to twenty three and his family. Very proud mother came
to talk to Charles, and the kid was telling Charles
how much of an inspiration he was for him. Now
(02:45:51):
here's where our friendship gets us both in trouble. So
that's a beautiful moment. Right in the middle of that
beautiful In the middle of that, I walked up to
tell Charles that Rick Burgess sent me to monitor what
clothes that he had on. Charles then proceeds to yell out,
very loudly, Burgess.
Speaker 2 (02:46:08):
What an idiot.
Speaker 3 (02:46:10):
As we begin to I really say that, listen, and
then we begin to talk about the show, the look
on that mother's face, once very proud, was now horrifying.
Speaker 2 (02:46:19):
We ruined a touching moment.
Speaker 9 (02:46:25):
That's amazing.
Speaker 3 (02:46:27):
So yeah, you know, it's kind of those things where
the Lord looks down at our our friendship goes I
like it, now right there.
Speaker 2 (02:46:33):
We need to work on that.
Speaker 8 (02:46:34):
Yeah, but yeah, yeah, but you know what, we all
got something to work on, right, brother, we're a work
in progress.
Speaker 3 (02:46:40):
Well, I always say the Lord has a sense of humor.
If he didn't, we wouldn't have one. Yes, since he created.
Speaker 8 (02:46:45):
Well that's the truth, man, And it's like my golf game.
Thank god I can sing because my golf game is
definitely a working all right.
Speaker 2 (02:46:52):
Look, I was gonna talk to you, Charles, and I
know you got to go because everybody's probably waiting on
and you can't believe you're holding them up. Look, you've
been running hard, your mind is racing right now, slow
everything down the rest of the round. Just slow down,
slow down and enjoy. Just enjoy the round.
Speaker 21 (02:47:08):
Just enjoy the round.
Speaker 9 (02:47:09):
You know, thank you?
Speaker 8 (02:47:10):
This this helped me already. I feel like my next
shot is going to be amazing.
Speaker 2 (02:47:14):
That's right. How about this.
Speaker 3 (02:47:15):
I'm gonna tell you it will be because you're relaxed.
Speaker 2 (02:47:17):
Now, just slow down and quit jerking at the top.
Just slow down.
Speaker 3 (02:47:24):
YouTube Charles Stakes, Buddy, enjoy it.
Speaker 2 (02:47:32):
Charles Belasy just saying for the present, Wow, can you
believe people giving him? Yeah? Just haters, haters.
Speaker 3 (02:47:39):
Isn't that exactly what we're supposed to do? I mean,
when given a platform, we go there. He didn't go
in there and compromise God. He didn't go in and
glorified God. That's right and one of the biggest platforms
one could be given in this country and really in
the world.
Speaker 2 (02:47:53):
We'll be right back.
Speaker 1 (02:47:56):
This is the Rick Burgess Show, simply out working.
Speaker 11 (02:48:09):
But show can't count rims.
Speaker 3 (02:48:12):

Speaker 2 (02:48:15):

Speaker 6 (02:48:37):

Speaker 1 (02:48:41):
Come because I know.
Speaker 2 (02:48:45):
Nobody saying when your see so I can't you know.
I think the Lord just blessed me with a text.
Speaker 3 (02:48:56):
I'm taking a lot of heat from Greg today, I
mean immense heat and then this little gift what you
got from text nation. I've realized that Greg and all
his photos, is very photogenic, but he needs to ask

Speaker 6 (02:49:40):

You just make kind of one.
Speaker 6 (02:50:04):
You know.
Speaker 2 (02:50:05):
You know what I love about when the weather's like this,
it's spring, whatever.
Speaker 4 (02:50:10):

Speaker 2 (02:50:10):

Then it was that high school folded Jenny. Yeah around right, Yeah,

Speaker 2 (02:50:25):

ever voted you that nobody? No one's ever voted you
the most encouraging. That's no, most likely to be a turd.
That's what you were voted. MLT.
Speaker 6 (02:50:40):
It's Greg, turn it down, Turn it down.
Speaker 3 (02:50:45):
It was cold, and I wish you had I am
to s right now people saying Greg turned down. My
wife's watching, you know, Rick went in and text that itself,
so he could do that. But it's been rough in

Speaker 2 (02:51:12):
Yeah, this was going towards the downtown areas, which is
into enemy territory, which horrible.
Speaker 3 (02:51:18):
Listen, the only thing that makes his already long commute
home longer is to not go the right way.
Speaker 2 (02:51:23):
It's ten miles the other way. Oh, you realize, to
you you'd be really catch this. Yeah, I'm sad of

Speaker 3 (02:51:38):
It's a beautiful spring day, and people's kids drive to school.
It won't be crowded in.
Speaker 2 (02:51:41):
The parking is not bad at all.
Speaker 3 (02:51:43):

and make this angry Friday. It's good Friday.
Speaker 12 (02:52:04):

Speaker 2 (02:52:05):
Put your glasses on and all the ladies want to help. Yeah. No,
I don't just want to take a picture because I'm
photog in anything. Greg, I want you to have a
better attitude about that. I got a great here's a question,
would you want to go? No, the question is not
whether I want to go? Do you want me to go?
Because if it's if I want they that. First I
got you out for ignoring my messages. But I'm kind
(02:52:26):
of busy, you know. I got you out for that.
And then I was asked if I was like, well,
I said, would you do you want me to? And
that's enough. I'm helpful, Greg, Are you yeah? Okay?
Speaker 3 (02:52:42):
So I want to get make this the question of
you not checking?
Speaker 2 (02:52:45):
You're not checking your messages and then when you got
a mission check, then you had something to say about it.
Speaker 1 (02:52:50):
No, that ain't it.
Speaker 2 (02:52:51):
Look I mean I love you, I love you. You're
doing this and this is all. No, no, I'm saying
I do love you to death. But you will miss
a message and I'm not you. I mean when I'm
in here now, you'll do anything for anybody. I'm not
saying that, but you'll miss a message. Then when it's
like did you see, it's like, huh, what are you
talking about? You didn't send?
Speaker 10 (02:53:09):
No?
Speaker 3 (02:53:10):
Oh here, you know, and about the time he went
to read his glasses and always take a picture of it.
Speaker 2 (02:53:16):
I know you do normally, But if I'm in here
visiting with everybody and we're having a show, if I
missed one and maybe or miss about at least thing
to get some movie gooey cake, yeah, stuff like that.
That takes some important thing.

chip cook being so photogenic? Okay, right, he did have
takes a picture.
Speaker 2 (02:53:37):

way to the end of the show.
Speaker 2 (02:53:46):

of that nice pajama.
Speaker 3 (02:53:51):
You don't get up and start swinging the I'm sorry

I'm mad you're going to that baker down there. No,
it's always written hard where I'm going. It's probably close
to it.
Speaker 2 (02:54:06):
You don't have to say what you're getting.
Speaker 10 (02:54:07):
But what what?
Speaker 2 (02:54:08):
What good? You're not going to a bakery for cooking
one right here? No, No, it's a cookie place, the cookies,
cookie place. Lisa's cousin makes these really good cookies. You
can get them from the parties for the kids and all.
Where's yours? They're said that they got some extras Eastern
ones if we want them, is it? But that's when
(02:54:29):
I was asked what I liked there? Which is it
a shop or you got to go somebody's house and
it's it's a place of business. But then they just
have them in there, the cookies in there. Thing. You
don't bring those cookies home all weekends can be I
wish I had them cookies here. Well, let me just
go get the cookies and be happy about it. Where
you go. It was kind of I wish it was
locating Leeds. Okay, let me let me say this again.
Speaker 14 (02:54:51):

Speaker 3 (02:54:52):
I know this place, and I know this place well,
I'm taking there many times. Okay, grab the first farkest
bat you see. I do not think you're gonna find
one better, to be honest, I've made this cookie run
before the place of business. Normally they have their own parking.
Now that house and it does have that'll help. It's
just getting to it there so you don't always turn
on the wrong run. You get in there, it's like
(02:55:14):
a gauntlet. You don't have to grab those that are
in there on the trendy that little trendy road. Well,

He's spilling coffee everywhere, but he can read a sticky note.
Speaker 10 (02:59:34):
He can.
Speaker 2 (02:59:35):
I just think it's probably underneath and peripheral.
Speaker 6 (02:59:39):

US Navy US Navy mysterious aircraft Greg launching from c Well,
I want it to be.
Speaker 2 (03:00:53):
I'm tired of seeing little dots and I won't say
something legit. No one, No one is another tick tak.
No one is identifying it. At this point.
Speaker 6 (03:01:03):
We have a it is a tic tac.
Speaker 2 (03:01:07):
The tic tack is by yeah, yeah, what did you say?
Said Palaway? Okay, I know you.
Speaker 11 (03:01:14):
Didn't, no.
Speaker 2 (03:01:18):
Said, he said.
Speaker 6 (03:01:23):
Here's a news package from Channel eight CBS.
Speaker 14 (03:01:26):
From our eight News Now investigators. Dramatic UFO footage recorded
aboarding US warship off the coast of southern California is
making waves. As we first reported last week, Navy sailors
recorded video of two tic Tac shaped objects near their ship. Well,
now an eyewitness to that encounter has stepped forward, and
coincidentally he's from Las Vegas.
Speaker 19 (03:01:46):
Eight News investigator George Knaff spoke with the witness about
his encounter with a whizbank craft that emerged from the ocean.
Speaker 2 (03:01:53):
Hope he's going to Las Vegas.
Speaker 31 (03:01:54):
This is the famed tic Tac object that was pursued
by the Navy's best aviators off the coast of southern
California back in two thousand and four. And this is
the thermal image of two strikingly similar objects documented by
the crew of the USS Jackson in February twenty twenty
three in the very same waters. The original tic TAC
proved to be one of the most consequential UFO incidents
(03:02:16):
of all time, first investigated by a secret program based
in Las Vegas managed by the DIA. The incident generated
a huge wave of media coverage and inspired Congress to
launch new investigations into UFOs now called UAPs.
Speaker 19 (03:02:32):
I feel obligated to show more leadership on this issue
of UAP disclosure by validating the credibility of the courageous
men and women who have come out as witnesses and
whistleblowers to expose the truth.
Speaker 31 (03:02:42):
In the most recent Congressional hearing into the UAP mystery,
retired Rear Admiral doctor Tim Galladett encouraged witnesses to step forward,
and now one of them has.
Speaker 29 (03:02:52):
I am Operation Specialist Senior Chief Alexandra Wiggins been in
the Navy four twenty three years and counted.
Speaker 31 (03:03:00):
When Alexandra Wiggins heard that a video from the USS
Jackson's encounter with unknown objects was circulating, he reached out
to the former admiral and was then put in touch
with filmmaker Jeremy Corbel, who first released the new tic
TAC video. On the podcast Weaponized, Wiggins not only shared
details about the encounter, but also his personal connection to
(03:03:21):
Las Vegas. He grew up here, as shown in this
photo with his brother in the family's backyard.
Speaker 29 (03:03:26):
I've watched you when your hair was as dark as mine.
Speaker 31 (03:03:29):
In February twenty twenty three, Wiggins was a senior chief
and radar specialist on the Jackson, an air traffic controller
for the Navy. His main job was to identify what
might be in the air near the ship. He and
others in the Jackson's Combat Information center saw curious objects
on their screens. Wiggins wanted to get eyes on whatever
it was and went out to take a look.
Speaker 29 (03:03:50):
And to my surprise, which is something I've never witnessed,
was a light I noticed on the horizon, but it
was it was looked as if it were surfacing out
of the water.
Speaker 8 (03:04:02):
He says.
Speaker 31 (03:04:02):
He jammed back to the combat center. It took a
closer look on the Sapphire system, which is a thermal sensor,
not a camera. The sensor detected not just one, but
two tic tac shaped objects. Neither showed any hint of
an exhaust system or any known propulsion system.
Speaker 29 (03:04:18):
We only saw the one, and then we see the
second one. It was only when we zoom out we realize,
holy crap, there's two more out here, a total of four,
and all of a sudden, you just see all four
of them. Take off to the northeast, all at the
same time, just out of nowhere.
Speaker 2 (03:04:37):
And if I had to.
Speaker 6 (03:04:40):
Talk speed.
Speaker 29 (03:04:43):
It was it was, I would it would say like
maybe two steps behind instantaneous.
Speaker 2 (03:04:50):
Where you don't TikTok, TikTok. I don't. I can't see
there's a little objects move. I won't say, like a
picture of a ship like.
Speaker 3 (03:05:00):
An alien watching this addler, So we've lill died on screen.
Speaker 2 (03:05:03):
You don't know what that is.
Speaker 3 (03:05:04):
We've seen these since two thousand and four, and then
again in twenty three and then whenever this was. I
guess it is relatively recent, so it's it's the reoccurring
of the same thing. Of course, my first thought, and
this is just how my mind works. Well, if they
were here two thousand and four and they hadn't done anything, now,
who cares. I mean, they've had plenty of time to attack.
Speaker 2 (03:05:25):
And if it's the.
Speaker 3 (03:05:26):
Same thing, or is it just drones? Just you know,
drones are down everywhere and are people playing with drones?
Speaker 2 (03:05:33):
What what's going to speed their speed? Great?
Speaker 3 (03:05:36):
Yeah, they say, what a click from instantaneously that would
be two I'm just like better footage or something.
Speaker 6 (03:05:43):
No exhaust signature that hurts. So it's more like, uh
could be a gravity gravity what they call aps, Greg,
we had it for years. What is it called you're
using they're using gravity to propel themselves.
Speaker 9 (03:06:02):
What is you?
Speaker 6 (03:06:03):
A now? Unidentified aerial phenomenon? I believe, Yeah, so.
Speaker 2 (03:06:09):
That's object it Yeah, I like this. A UFO was
so much easier.
Speaker 6 (03:06:14):
Well, fly, I guess they had a problem with flying object.
Maybe it's not and maybe it's not flying. I know,
I'm not.
Speaker 2 (03:06:22):
I'm just a creature.
Speaker 3 (03:06:23):
I mean, what are we talking about, right.
Speaker 6 (03:06:24):
Aerial phenomenon, not flying object?
Speaker 3 (03:06:27):
Okay, hmmm. Any any you're even remotely concerned about this,
any of us?
Speaker 2 (03:06:33):
I'm just not.
Speaker 3 (03:06:34):
I mean it's if the Rick, if they've seen one
in the cousa maybe yeah, you know saying that it's well.
Speaker 2 (03:06:41):
Then there's like a texture. It looks like somebody's playing palm.
I was just like, I won't. I don't want to
footage of a bunch of dines. I want to see
an aircraft, right, that's a that's a sign. Yeah, I
want to see it like they too, and they come
back with it. Since nineteen you know, this is the.
Speaker 1 (03:07:08):
Rick Burgess show warning in order to truly benefit from
this show. You must have a sense of humor. So
like enough Francis and enjoy the Rick Burgis Show.
Speaker 3 (03:07:29):
Here we go, Here we go, rolling through another day,
getting you ready for a big weekend. Good Friday, today,
Easter on Sunday. Hopefully if you have a great weekend. Adler,
your sounds like you had to do a little, uh
little medical work as a daddy.
Speaker 2 (03:07:48):
Yeah, what happened doctor? What happened there?
Speaker 6 (03:07:52):
I'm trying to do that same voice that you do
when you're like Phillips had screwed.
Speaker 18 (03:07:57):
Day?
Speaker 2 (03:07:58):
Help, I understand the dad's no fear, doctor, Daddy's here,
Daddy's here. I'm good.
Speaker 20 (03:08:03):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (03:08:05):
In fact, so I guess it was two days ago.
My wife sends me a picture and she goes, Ezra's foot.
That's all that. The picture says, Ezra's foot.
Speaker 2 (03:08:14):
That's it. And Ezra is two years old.
Speaker 6 (03:08:16):
Now, Ezra's two, he just turned two. He's a wild man,
he's crazy, he's savage, he's uh, he's crazy, he's you yeah,
he is, and his foot across the whole bottom of it,
the entire bottom of it is a thorn. Hey, And
I'm like, wow, Okay.
Speaker 3 (03:08:36):
So tiny, little two year old foot another.
Speaker 2 (03:08:39):
So that night, thorn.
Speaker 6 (03:08:41):
That night I get home. Splinter, splinter, thorn. Yes, and
it is. I think I can confirm it's from the deck,
the deck I built.
Speaker 3 (03:08:50):
Believe screaming, So really indirectly it's your fault.
Speaker 27 (03:08:54):
Yes, yes, somehow how deep, luckily not crazy. It is
more like a side oh on the surface kind of
side there. There's a lot of skin, though you don't
break off when you're trying to get it out.
Speaker 6 (03:09:07):
And so two year olds aren't good at holding still
any at any point, any point in their life.
Speaker 2 (03:09:13):
So that's what I did.
Speaker 6 (03:09:15):
I sat on him, sat on him.
Speaker 3 (03:09:17):
It's like, don't you you have no choice.
Speaker 6 (03:09:20):
It was like the that he loved, Like when you're
shoeing a horse, putting a new horse shoe on a horse,
you know, except if you were like laying on the
on top of the horse. I also, you know, I
can't see. I can't see anymore. I had to put
on a headlamps just so I could see what I
was doing.
Speaker 3 (03:09:35):
Did you have a headside on your son foot up
in the air trying to get out a splinter?
Speaker 6 (03:09:40):
He's actually and he's sitting on his stomach so that
I can pull his leg up. So I'm basically doing
what's that wrestling move the you like the chema clad, yes,
the backbreaker, yes, whatever that is. And y'all, I'm having
to hold him still and where I look like I'm
shoeing a horse, and he sounds like he's a pig
being slaughtered like it's a barnyard.
Speaker 3 (03:10:01):
That was my next question. When did he decide this
is horror?
Speaker 6 (03:10:04):
And so, y'all, Luckily I had a little bit of
a bite, you know you got. I didn't have to
dig too much. I didn't have to go get a needle. Really,
I didn't have to do that, and we did it
after a bath. I think that really helped.
Speaker 2 (03:10:17):
What did you use?
Speaker 6 (03:10:18):
I used Tweezers straight, Yeah, I get hold of it.
Pair of Tweezers, which I had a bar from my
wife because I don't own them.
Speaker 2 (03:10:27):
You don't plug your eyebrow, I don't.
Speaker 6 (03:10:29):
I don't own Tweezers. I just realized that I don't own.
Speaker 2 (03:10:31):
Tweet and you know what, that's painfully obvious?
Speaker 6 (03:10:33):
Yeah it is, y'all. But I'm going to show you
his foot. I got a picture here, so you're able.
Speaker 2 (03:10:38):
To grab the end on it. When you started pulling
on it, it stayed together.
Speaker 6 (03:10:42):
Well, it took me two pieces, but you wanted to
be organized. I did it after a bath, okay, and
that helped, I think helped kind of puff up everything
and kind of soften the skin a little bit. And
here's the after, and actually here's the after. Little heels
that he'll entered here came through there and I got
(03:11:04):
it out. Look at his little belly button.
Speaker 2 (03:11:09):
Did you did you put a little poly on it?
Speaker 1 (03:11:13):
Yes?
Speaker 6 (03:11:13):
Yes, Look at his diaper though, guys, he's just pooping
in his pants all day long. Yeah, And y'all, So
the headlamp worked, the tweezers work, the bath worked, and
here is it split into y'all. And I'm not joking.
It's a toothpick there. It is in my pow. And
that is, honestly, I think, the largest splinter I've ever
(03:11:35):
pulled out of anyone ever. He was out of a
two year old's tiny, tiny little.
Speaker 2 (03:11:41):
How much crying? How much crying a lot of crying
or a.
Speaker 6 (03:11:43):
Lot of crying, and then relief.
Speaker 2 (03:11:44):
He was like, huh, how quick did he turn back?
Speaker 6 (03:11:47):
Normal seconds? Yes, he's such a champ. It's amazing. What
pain they can ignore because he walked on it all
day long.
Speaker 3 (03:11:54):
Right, that's what I was gonna Actually, you never show
any signs of discomfort.
Speaker 6 (03:11:57):
It's crazy.
Speaker 2 (03:11:58):
No, No, that's uh.
Speaker 6 (03:12:00):
And we've got i think two minutes left, three you know,
for three minutes left on the show. And I've been
hiding something from y'all. Oh no, yeah, And I'm telling
y'all right now before we end the show, because I'm hoping,
I'll hope you all.
Speaker 2 (03:12:14):
You're doing this so we won't have much time.
Speaker 6 (03:12:16):
You won't have any time, and you'll forget over the break.
But I also need to put a p s A
out there. Y'all remember the day, it was a couple
of weeks ago when Greg was gone. Greg was gone.
I think he was sick or something like that. It
was that the day after you heard in the trash can.
So I'm on my way in in the van this
(03:12:36):
I've been holding, hold this, And if y'all remember we
had storms, how much I'm doing we got we had
storms the day before. There's a lot of old pine trees,
a lot of old pine trees in my neighborhood.
Speaker 2 (03:12:49):
Yes, and they'll break and they'll break.
Speaker 6 (03:12:51):
And they'll fall and they'll fall into the road, so
you got to watch out. I'm so stupid. I'm so stupid.
I'm so stupid. I'm on my way in and there's
this little stretch of my neighborhood that has a straight shot,
no curves, no hills, no nothing, no even driveways.
Speaker 2 (03:13:10):
So I know I'm good.
Speaker 6 (03:13:11):
And that is actually every morning where I queue up
I have a quick ten minute news podcast that I
listened to on my way in.
Speaker 2 (03:13:18):
I didn't know that look down.
Speaker 6 (03:13:21):
I looked to the side to queue it up because
I do have a mount. I have a mount for
my phone so that it's at eye level.
Speaker 2 (03:13:28):
It's safe driver.
Speaker 6 (03:13:29):
And because of this little tiny hill, the headlights did
not shine on what was in the road either, so
I didn't see it from afar. So I think I'm good.
I'm driving coming in probably thirty five miles an hour
forty five, i'd say thirty five ten over, which is
(03:13:51):
which is ten over. But y'all, there's nobody around. It's
it's so dark, there's nobody around. There's never any joggers,
there's never even any any other cars. When I'm on
the road, I go and push the button on the podcast,
and I hear like a just you know all this
happened so quickly. It happens so quickly. And I look
(03:14:12):
up and it is a wall of trees, wall of green.
I think I have I think I've driven in. You
know how your mind races so fast. I think I've
gone to the all the way to the end of
the road where it's just woods.
Speaker 2 (03:14:31):
You can't forget why this is.
Speaker 6 (03:14:33):
And I drove through a tree. I drove the van
through the tree fell in the winds the night before
the tree fell into the road. A large pine tree
is a pine tree the top of it, but enough
so that the the the the trees and limbs were
(03:14:56):
above the vehicle I drove.
Speaker 2 (03:14:58):
It goes you're in You're in a sweet vand so
that's a tall vehicle, y'all.
Speaker 6 (03:15:03):
It went from I'm listening to the news podcast on
my way to work, I'm gonna go and the guys
and I don't like that. In the morning, that's how
I talked to myself. That's my real voice actually, And y'all,
it was a wall of tree. I drove through the tree.
It was like boom, and I'm through the tree and
I'm on the other side of the tree hit there
are pine needles from the bumper to the top. And
(03:15:24):
you remember when you made fun of me for putting
that that grill on the front front of the van.
You said that grill is just for looks. I used
the grill, I used.
Speaker 2 (03:15:31):
The brush guard. Did you stop and get out and
look around damage?
Speaker 6 (03:15:36):
My rear view mirror was completely torn off. What it
tore my rear view mirror off the one side? You
know why? Because I drove through a tree with the van.
Speaker 11 (03:15:50):
I had.
Speaker 2 (03:15:51):
I've had to hold it, waited to the music.
Speaker 11 (03:15:57):
You want?
Speaker 2 (03:15:57):
You want to for kids?
Speaker 8 (03:15:58):
A P s A.
Speaker 6 (03:15:59):
Everybody watch out for trees.
Speaker 2 (03:16:00):
Is this what this was all about? I think I
think it's mom being what's he doing?
Speaker 10 (03:16:06):
He's sleeping?
Speaker 2 (03:16:07):
What's he doing? Why is he running?
Speaker 1 (03:16:08):
Oh, there's the rear view, there's the we're just show
