that they have and it all kind of centers around
the voices, experiences and the brilliance of people who have
been directly impacted by the justice system, your self included. Yes, indeed,
all right, well let's shine a light and spread some
love and positivity eight hundred and two ninety two fifty
one fifty Call us up, let us know who you want.
Speaker 4 (01:26):
To shine a light on its way up.
Speaker 2 (01:27):
I'm sham.
Speaker 7 (01:30):

Speaker 7 (01:39):
It's time to shine a light on.
Speaker 3 (01:41):
It's way up at the Angela. Yeah, I'm here with
my guy Mane and today i want to shine a
light on somebody who I met yesterday.
Speaker 1 (01:48):
Eric F.
Speaker 4 (01:49):
King, that's his social media pages. To Eric F.
Speaker 3 (01:52):
King, he was actually at coffee uplifts people. But he
is a coach and he helps you take your speaking
career to the next level. So he does this whole
speakers experience where they do a photoshoot, videography. It's like
a virtual studio and it's fully equipped and they actually
help you get content for your sizzor reels for your website,
for social media pages. And this actually helps people with
(02:13):
branding themselves and with sales and engaging with people and networking,
which is one of the most important things. So he
also helps you when it comes to being able to
speak in public and coaching you through that, but then
also that leads to helping you generate more sales when
you can actually get in front of audiences know how
to speak and yeah, and it's like a virtual stage
(02:34):
so you can then use that content and post it
and also helping you be booked on like different podcasts
and different platforms to help you with that. You know,
speaking is like a fear for a lot of people
and do it. Everybody can do it, but they it's
kind of like it's still scary to get up in
front of.
Speaker 4 (02:53):
People and do you do it very well?
Speaker 3 (02:56):
You know, it depends, like different situations make me more.
We'll talk about it later. But anyway, who do you
want to shine a light on? Eight hundred to ninety
light fifty one fifty mellow?
Speaker 4 (03:06):
What's goodeezy?
Speaker 8 (03:09):
Man?
Speaker 1 (03:10):
Never that. That's why I'm calling you right now to
shine a light on you and your greatness. You feel me,
I'm showing to light on the whole way up with
ye teams, staff and mother effing food. And if you're
that a way up with even shine a light on
you too.
Speaker 3 (03:23):
Okay, everything, God be a little rhyme, don't it?
Speaker 1 (03:26):
You feel me like somebody gotta do it?
Speaker 3 (03:28):
Mellow, thank you so much. We appreciate you. You are day one.
Speaker 1 (03:32):
Of course, you know what I mean. I'm about stop
out a coffee, uplift people in an hour, and I'm
gonna send me your thefts, you know what I mean,
giving some smile about on the grainy Bay.
Speaker 3 (03:39):
I'm gonna be there tonight and we got a watch
party on Thursday. We're gonna watch the mayoral debates together.
If you want to come, I am there.
Speaker 1 (03:48):
I'm gonna bring my girlfriend.
Speaker 4 (03:49):
Bring her, bring it through. Let's go. Thanks Mellow anytime, Musy. Well,
that was.
Speaker 3 (03:55):
Shining to light eight hundred and two ninety two fifty
one fifty And as you know, the BET Awards were
on last night, so I know throughout the show we'll.
Speaker 4 (04:01):
Be talking about different moments.
Speaker 3 (04:03):
But when we come back, I want to focus on
what Dochi had to say when she was up on
that stage. It's way up, they say truth in the rooms,
from industry shade.
Speaker 7 (04:12):
To all of gossips out send Angela's speeling that eat.
Speaker 4 (04:17):
Yeah, it's way up. Put Angela. Yeah, I'm here with Mayna.
Did you want to BET Awards last night?
Speaker 7 (04:22):
I missed it?
Speaker 3 (04:23):
All right, Well I'll give you some highlights. You know,
Kevin Hart was hosting. He has some great funny moments.
There was one part where he was dressed up as
Usher and he had the cherry and the audience and
everybody was like no, and then him and Kerrie Washington
had a cute moment. But here is Kevin Hart talking
about after parties.
Speaker 2 (04:43):
Also, I'm gonna do my part. I'm shutting down the
idea of after parties.
Speaker 5 (04:47):
No after parties, tonight, take your asses home after this.
Speaker 2 (04:49):
That's why I did it on a Monday.
Speaker 5 (04:51):
That's where Gets Slippery had them goddamn after parties. We're
learning a lot about people, ain't we We're learning a lot.
No yachts, no boats, cardi B, no pink stuff.
Speaker 4 (05:01):
Oh okay, all right. In addition to that, you know,
it was interesting because this.
Speaker 3 (05:09):
Was downtown the BET Awards, and this is also where
a lot of the protests have been happening in LA
and so this is based off of ice right, basically,
just you know, going full throttle on everybody and instilling
a lot of fear and people, even though some people
are waiting for their due process, a lot of programs
getting shut down, a lot of confusion, while Doty was
(05:32):
on stage, and there's no way you could ignore what's happening.
Here's what you had to say, as she accepted the
BET Award for Best Female Hip Hop Artists.
Speaker 9 (05:39):
Trump is using military forces to stop a protest, and
I want you all to consider what kind of government
it appears to be when every time we exercise our
democratic right to protest, the military is deployed against us.
Speaker 4 (05:54):
People are being.
Speaker 9 (05:55):
Swept up and torn from their families, and I feel
it's my responsibility as an artists to use this moment
to speak up for all oppressed people.
Speaker 3 (06:04):
Man, I want to say, I appreciate the fact that
she did that so much, and I think the message
that people are missing because they're like, yeah, I'm staying
with Trump on immigration. These people shouldn't be here. It's
interesting that you steal the land and then want to
say who can and can't come? Then y'all namly to
be Yeah, let's never forget that. But let's also realize
that a lot of people are trying to do things
(06:24):
the right way and there's no due process, and people
are being shipped out and torn apart from their families unjustly,
and so there has to be some type of process,
and that's the problem. You can't just round people up
scare them and it's only a certain group of people.
When the white South Africans wanted to come here and
Elon Musk said that they're being oppressed, it was doors
wide open.
Speaker 4 (06:44):
Just some things to think about.
Speaker 3 (06:46):
Now, another thing that happened, you know, it was the
one O six in Park reunion that was such a
huge deal. Unfortunately AJ didn't make it, and I saw
some people act like it was a conspiracy, like him
and Freed don't get along, because Free was there, but
she wasn't present for an interview before. Well, he posted
when you're on a plane and your phone blows up
because you missed a huge night for the best and
(07:06):
livest audience in the world. So it looks like he
tried to make it. He didn't land in time. There
was a lot of confusion too, with all of the protests,
a lot of flight delays, there were whether you know issues.
I know when we were going out there with Jasmine Brand,
her flight was delayed like eight hours, so there were
a lot of issues.
Speaker 1 (07:23):
Now.
Speaker 3 (07:23):
Roxy also posted because she wasn't there either, and she said,
I'm so sorry if I let you down. Just know
I tried everything possible to be a part of the
one O six in Park reunion. But she did say
on the topic of platforms, I'm currently about to embark
on one of the biggest stages of my career. I
hope you will support this new project. More details coming
as soon as I can announce it. So just know
it was because of an immediate job opportunity, I was
(07:44):
unable to take part in the reunion.
Speaker 4 (07:46):
But she did.
Speaker 3 (07:46):
Acknowledge the huge role that BT played in her becoming
who she is today. Now, another thing that BT did
was they announced one O six and Sports. It's a
spinoff of one O six in Park that's hosted by
Cam Newton to Ashley Nicoll Moss. And here is what
Cam Newton had to say.
Speaker 6 (08:04):
As is about more than stores and statistics. It's about
the culture around the game players, the personality and of
course the fashion almost poorly.
Speaker 4 (08:13):
It's about the fans, all right.
Speaker 3 (08:16):
So a lot of things going down at BT last night,
and we'll be talking more about that, I'm sure about
last night. It's coming up next so we can discuss
some more things and we hear what you did, Mane,
because you've been outside as usual, you know, it is
what it is.
Speaker 4 (08:29):
But you've been in the gym. It's way up night.
Speaker 7 (08:33):
So about last night that I went down, it's way
up at Angela yee, and it's time for about last night?
Speaker 4 (08:43):
And what did you do? Mane?
Speaker 2 (08:45):
I was a studio for a little while.
Speaker 6 (08:47):
That's why I missed the awards, So I didn't get
a chance to watch a shout out the little essens.
I was in the studio with him in the office.
Speaker 3 (08:56):
You know what I haven't had a chance to talk about.
I was watching the Beats Awards last night. So and
by the way, Kendrick won five, so he did. He
had a nice little run at the BT Awards. Kevin
Hart was like, just take them all. But did you
watch Straw yet? That Tyler Perry movie.
Speaker 2 (09:13):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (09:14):
Now I want to know, Yeah, I want to know
your thoughts about Straw because I watched it too.
Speaker 4 (09:19):
You want to know, Yeah, I just don't know who who?
Speaker 2 (09:23):
Life is that bad?
Speaker 6 (09:24):
Like she lost her job or daughter her car? Uh
that accused of murder, killed two people, robed the bank.
Speaker 4 (09:31):
All on one day, like all day.
Speaker 6 (09:35):
Like not even a week, like all on one day,
all this happened on one day, like in the eight
hour time.
Speaker 4 (09:44):
All right, but all right as sad from that. But
you're right, that was a lot.
Speaker 6 (09:48):
That's a lot, man, I like, I like to watch
things that reflect reality. Something Now, I understand that this
is struggle. We grew up in the struggle. We understand struggle.
I watched my mother struggle. But at the same time,
it was just like overkill.
Speaker 10 (09:59):
Like he was.
Speaker 4 (10:00):
It was like, can she get a break?
Speaker 2 (10:01):
Really like that? Whose life is that bad?
Speaker 4 (10:04):
You know? My friend I came hit me.
Speaker 3 (10:06):
He was like, I hated the ending, but I want
to say a couple of things about it. You did
watch the whole thing, so it did have your It
did have your attention enough that you watched the whole thing, right.
I thought Tarachi did an amazing job acting, And I
also thought Sherry Shepherd and Tianna Taylor. What I did
like was with these black women, the empathy that they
(10:27):
had for each other's situations. Right, like coming into the bank,
you having a tough day. She's like Sherry Shepherd's character
who manages the bank was definitely understanding of her situation.
She knows she's she's ta can look at Taraji and
know her. She's been coming to this bank. You know,
life is rough for her and she's trying to do
the right thing. And then even with Tiana Taylor, she
(10:48):
was the one person she was a cop right and
she that was actually understanding and giving her some grace.
Speaker 4 (10:55):
And so I think that dynamic was great.
Speaker 3 (10:57):
But you're right, it wasn't really lunge when you put
it all together like that. It was a long, hard day.
Speaker 4 (11:03):
But it is a number one movie right.
Speaker 3 (11:05):
Now Ontflix on Netflix Straw. I want to get anybody
who watched it, what is your opinion on Straw. If
you guys watch Straw, you know that's very talked about.
It's a number one movie on Netflix right now. I
see tons of criticism, but I see tons of praise
as well. I want to get your honest thoughts on Straw.
Eight hundred two nine two fifty one fifty call us up.
That's eight hundred two nine to fifty one fifty. Its
(11:28):
way up.
Speaker 7 (11:28):
And okay, we about to do this one of the
memos to famous women in radio vidio. We're talking about
angela Ye.
Speaker 4 (11:35):
You're way up with angela Ye.
Speaker 2 (11:36):
Please believe that?
Speaker 4 (11:37):
All right? His way up and Mano's here.
Speaker 3 (11:39):
I'm here and we're talking about Tyler Perry Straw number
one on Netflix in the US, also number one in
the UK, Canada, Australia, Island, Germany, Iceland, Italy, and all
the countries in Africa, Nial It's on fire. And so
you just felt like she had a terrible day.
Speaker 4 (11:55):
I just felt like it was just like too much
in one day.
Speaker 6 (12:00):
You know, I'm not here standing on You.
Speaker 4 (12:02):
Ever feel like you had a day that everything went wrong?
Speaker 6 (12:05):
No, not like that, losing your child, your call, your freedom,
Robin Vans killing people though.
Speaker 4 (12:11):
Some people at the end don't know what happened.
Speaker 3 (12:14):
At then you got to watch the full thing to understand,
like some things are a little bit up in the air,
you know.
Speaker 4 (12:19):
I will say I was watching it in l A. B.
Speaker 3 (12:22):
T Awards weekend while I was getting my makeup done,
and I had to take a moment because it was
very set like it was just felt like who you.
Speaker 2 (12:28):
Took a moment?
Speaker 3 (12:28):
You you could watch that movie for real and not
feel emotionless. But the one thing I did like about
it was the three black women having empathy for each
other when everybody else was not understanding Tiana Tail as
a cop she had that gave her the benefit of
the doubt no one else was doing that, and understanding
(12:50):
how awful the police treated her everything, and then seeing
Sherry Shepherd as the manager of the bank also being like,
it's okay treating her a human being.
Speaker 6 (13:00):
I guess I'm taking the literal and it shouldn't be
taken in literal.
Speaker 4 (13:05):
Right, Yeah, I think it's representative.
Speaker 6 (13:07):
Maybe it's representative of just the struggle, although maybe I
feel like maybe that struggle could have stretched out for
a month.
Speaker 4 (13:14):
Well, what are your thoughts on Straw?
Speaker 8 (13:17):
Personally? I loved it. I felt like there was a
deep message, but I feel like it did go over
a lot of people said, you know without a criticism,
So that.
Speaker 4 (13:26):
What was the message in your in your words.
Speaker 8 (13:28):
You know, to thee kinds of people and giving them grades,
like you never know what somebody is going through. People
love to call women strong, and I feel like it's
a compliment. But at the same time, is that really
like the biggest propliments I have for women?
Speaker 4 (13:44):
Because strong by necessity?
Speaker 8 (13:49):
Yeah, Like single mothers really have a heart, Like she
just had one kid and you know, she was facing
so many adversities all on her own. So it's the
definitely hard. Now. I'm not gonna take that away, cause
it's hard to hell with one child with I have four,
and luckily I have a village. But I also know
how it feels to not have anybody either because I
(14:13):
always I haven't always had the support I have.
Speaker 4 (14:15):
Okay, Well, listen that perspective.
Speaker 3 (14:17):
I love that you called and told us that, because
I do feel like I saw a lot of people
that were like in tears watching this movie because it
resonated with them so much about how some days you
have the hardest day ever you gotta still keep on pushing.
All right, Well, thank you for calling. I appreciate your perspective.
Speaker 8 (14:34):
You're welcome you.
Speaker 4 (14:34):
I have a good day, you too, Hey, Battle, how
are you?
Speaker 8 (14:37):
Good morning? I wait up?
Speaker 4 (14:39):
Okay, good morning. So I want to know what you
thought about Straw.
Speaker 11 (14:43):
I've really enjoyed the movie swallowing this production, okay, But
the word part that hit home.
Speaker 12 (14:49):
For me is the grief part.
Speaker 11 (14:51):
Like I've been dealing with a lot, a lot of
a lot of grief.
Speaker 8 (14:54):
I lost a few people in one year and then
a few people in one month.
Speaker 11 (14:58):
And I went through the I went through a lot
of the things that I saw the character go through,
So it hit hole.
Speaker 8 (15:06):
But I come to the other side of it with
a lot of cancer, grief, fruits and using my family
like she didn't.
Speaker 4 (15:14):
Hit nobody, right.
Speaker 3 (15:16):
I think so many black women in particular related to
this movie so much because they saw pieces of themselves
in that situation. Yes, well, thank you so much for calling,
because I see Tyler Perry getting a lot of flak
and like, oh, why does he keep on doing this?
Speaker 4 (15:30):
But again, he is the mental health actress.
Speaker 11 (15:33):
Yes, that's what she does.
Speaker 1 (15:35):
I expected it.
Speaker 4 (15:36):
Chie's the mental health actress. Okay, love it. Thank you
for calling.
Speaker 3 (15:40):
Thank you all right, Well you guys, thanks for calling.
Eight hundred and two ninety two fifty one fifty. You
can always leave a message for last word, because I
know a lot of people are passionate and talking about
Tyler Perry and his movies, and we're talking about straw
divorced sisters. Also, they had a preview yesterday after the
BET Awards and he was there too. When we come back,
we have your and let's talk about Diddy and this
(16:02):
mistrial that judge said they would give an answer today
we'll tell you what that answer is.
Speaker 4 (16:07):
It's way up shore. She's about to blow the lead
above this pot.
Speaker 2 (16:10):
Let's get it.
Speaker 7 (16:10):
Oh yeah, angelus building that yee te.
Speaker 2 (16:12):
Come and get the tea.
Speaker 4 (16:14):
It's way up at Angela yee. I'm here with my
guy Maino.
Speaker 5 (16:17):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (16:17):
Yeah, all right, as you know, let's get into this yet, Diddy,
they were trying to get a mistrial. They did another
motion for a mistrial. Well the judge has said no
thumbs down for that. It's the twentieth day of this
trial and that mistrial is not going to happen. Yet again,
They're going to keep on trying, but the judge is
not having it.
Speaker 10 (16:38):
Now.
Speaker 3 (16:38):
Little Dirk has also been denied bail again in this
whole murder for higher case, so he will still remain
in custody as he's awaiting his October trial for now,
just giving you all updates on everything. All right, now,
let's get into Kai Sinat and Wallet. This was interesting
to me because I see a lot of people feeling like, well,
(17:00):
maybe Kay Sanatt really doesn't know who Wile is, and
people having conversations about like, well, how could he not
know him? Because that's what I would think I think
everybody knows w A. Wile's had hits, right, you know,
for a long time. I know out of this we're
going to play on Chill Wilee and Jeremiah, which is
a hit, a smash, and he's had like not just
regular songs, but hits. But anyway, here's here is what
(17:22):
happened as right after Wile ran into kay Sanat they spoke.
Speaker 4 (17:27):
But apparently Kyson I had no idea who he was.
Here's what happened.
Speaker 6 (17:33):
Good, I'll read you a yay walle Oh my god,
that was somebody crazy.
Speaker 4 (17:42):
The whole chat knows him.
Speaker 2 (17:45):
What do you do?
Speaker 4 (17:48):
This is at the bat was joking.
Speaker 3 (17:51):
At first, all right, Well after that, you know, Wile
A do not play and while went up to him
at the war and confronted him about I guess you
know that went viral after kys and I didn't know
who he was. And here's what Wile said to him.
Speaker 2 (18:08):
Crazy right now, I mean, they're running with it, but.
Speaker 4 (18:11):
We'll talk later, he said, we'll talk later, but get
a little sensey. You know you know what people.
Speaker 3 (18:19):
Acted like he threatened him or something. I don't know
that that was a threat. It wasn't it was just
him like feeling away because I'm sure people was weighing
in on all of that.
Speaker 6 (18:28):
Unless this is all part of a marketing.
Speaker 4 (18:31):
Scheme, No, I don't think so.
Speaker 6 (18:33):
And then he drops the album it's called Who's think
about it? That'll be crazy.
Speaker 3 (18:43):
Who he is, which is the most important thing and
the constant stream. The most important thing is that everybody
but that didn't look like a chance running.
Speaker 4 (18:52):
That would be too And while playing around.
Speaker 6 (18:54):
Like that, this might be all part of us.
Speaker 3 (18:58):
Well, you know what, let's refresh anybody out there who
has no idea who Walle is because Wile got hits
on hits on hits, and I don't like this till
making him feel like he don't want to come back
outside again because he will go into hibernation. Here's Antil,
Wile and Jeremi. Under the radar is next news.
Speaker 7 (19:14):
This in the news that relates to you. These stories
are flying under the radar.
Speaker 4 (19:19):
It's way yep. But Angela, ye may know. I'm here
with my guy Mano.
Speaker 3 (19:22):
He always uses my microphone stand as a stand for
his phone. All right, well, let's do some of these
under the radar stories. And this story shocked a lot
of people in this room. So I know y'all are
going to be shocked. The wealthiest city in the world.
What city is that? Because and this is not just
in the US, in the world. The wealthiest city, well,
number one on the list is New York City. Can
(19:44):
you believe that there's over three hundred and eighty four
thousand millionaires eight hundred and eighteen seventy millionaires.
Speaker 4 (19:51):
That means over one hundred.
Speaker 3 (19:52):
Million and sixty six billionaires, and so that made us
the wealthiest city in the world.
Speaker 4 (19:59):
Can you believe that?
Speaker 2 (20:00):
Crazy?
Speaker 4 (20:01):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (20:02):
So there's fifty cities that they have on the top list,
and eleven of them are actually in the United States.
Number two is the Bay Area, three is Tokyo, number
four Singapore, followed by Los Angeles, London, Paris, Hong Kong, Sydney,
and then Chicago is also on that list. So shout
out to Chicago for making that richest city in the world,
wealthiest city in the world.
Speaker 4 (20:22):
So, yeah, great list to be on.
Speaker 3 (20:25):
Another thing that you guys will be excited about is
drone service. Walmart is expanding their drone service, so if
you want to get deliveries from a drone, they're going
to be expanding their thirty minute drone delivery service to
one hundred additional locations.
Speaker 4 (20:39):
Do they flying things on the drone, Yeah, and they'll
deliver it to you.
Speaker 3 (20:43):
So now that service is going to be coming to Atlanta, Charlotte, Houston, Orlando,
and Tampa. No, it is not here yet, but right
now it's available in Dallas, Fort Worth and Northwest Arkansas.
Speaker 4 (20:56):
So they're going to keep on expanding. We need that
here though with traffic.
Speaker 3 (20:59):
I need a drone delivery service to get me to work,
like I wish a drone could pick me up and
drop me off here. Listen, when I used to work
at another place where howis Sterne was? He took a
helicopter to work every day.
Speaker 4 (21:14):
Really yep. He lived in Martha.
Speaker 2 (21:16):
Can We can't have a helicopter.
Speaker 4 (21:18):
Put that in it, put that in the paperwork.
Speaker 3 (21:20):
And he had his own elevator in addition to that,
so he never had to interact with anyone. All right, Well,
that is your under the radar. Now we do have
the Way Up mix at the top of the hour.
Plus the founder of just Us, Marvin Bing, is going
to be joining us. Both Mano and I are participating
in the summit that's coming up this that's actually this
week and we're really excited about it. So we'll be
talking about that initiative.
Speaker 4 (21:41):
It's way up.
Speaker 9 (21:42):
Just like to talk like they Aeli Jean, like they Angelie.
Speaker 7 (21:45):
Jean Man, she's spilling it all. This is yet way off.
Speaker 4 (21:52):
What's up?
Speaker 3 (21:53):
His way up with Angela. Ye, it's me and Mayno's
time for yet ready. First of all, you know, we
got to show some love to Maclamore. There was an
issue where there was a home invasion at his house.
The kids were in bed when somebody broke and it's
all caught on video. This is in Seattle, so they
got a lot of jewelry. They also maced the nanny
while the kids were in the house. So there's dramatic
(22:15):
doorbell footage. It's on TMZ. You can see the nanny.
She's shaken. She's banging on a neighbor's door. It was
two men that were wearing black outfits, vests and face
masks that broke into the house. This happened early Saturday morning.
They broken through the patio door. Isn't that awful? That
is one of the scariest things that make you.
Speaker 4 (22:31):
Want to move.
Speaker 2 (22:31):
Yeah, you have to at that point.
Speaker 3 (22:33):
Yeah, they took her phone, they threw her to the ground.
She bit one of them and then ran out of
the house and the three kids were inside. She did
escape without injuries, but by the time the cops came,
they were already gone and Maclamore was not there.
Speaker 4 (22:45):
He's in Ireland, so.
Speaker 3 (22:46):
Mesan, you're already in another country and this is happening
at home.
Speaker 4 (22:49):
And I just want to give an update on.
Speaker 3 (22:51):
Wiallet and what happened with him and Kay Sannatt where
he ran up on him and yeah, he was upset,
kys and I didn't know him. The reason he was upset,
he said, was because they had played in a football
game together. Yeah, a celebrity football game. So he felt
like we've met. It wasn't even about him being famous.
It was more like we played in a game together.
Speaker 6 (23:11):
Oh, maybe he forgot him, or maybe he didn't.
Speaker 2 (23:13):
Know who he was.
Speaker 3 (23:14):
Maybe he meets so many people he just you know,
all right now, speaking of the Beet Awards, Jamie Fox,
he was getting his Ultimate Icon Award and his acceptance
speech when I tell you emotional people crying, here's what
he said.
Speaker 12 (23:30):
When I saw the memmorium, I was like, man, that
could have been me. I don't know why I went
through what I went through, but I know my second
chance I'm not gonna turn down. I have so much
love to give. I told him, I said, men, just
give me one more crack at this. And I promise,
I said, whatever whatever reason you put this on me,
(23:51):
I promise, I'm gonna do right.
Speaker 7 (23:53):
Man.
Speaker 4 (23:53):
That was incredible to watch.
Speaker 3 (23:54):
And you know, for him to be up there with
Stevie Wonder and still be funny throughout it all, him
talking about every think he's been, he almost did not
make it like literally Yeah. Mariah Carey also got her
first ever BT award, her BT Ultimate Icon Award, and
here's what she said.
Speaker 13 (24:09):
I heard this is actually my first BET award, and
I mean, if you're gonna get one, might as well
start with the Ultimate Icon of War. My life and
career have been quite the adventure. It took me a while,
but I finally realized that life is far too short
to live for anyone else's approval, which is something I
(24:31):
always did.
Speaker 3 (24:32):
She also performed her last single, which is Type Dangerous
that we premiered last week too.
Speaker 6 (24:37):
So is that the one with rock Him?
Speaker 4 (24:39):
Yes, there's she.
Speaker 3 (24:39):
Sample rock him. Eric B is president, all right, so
shout out to all of them. Shout out to Kerry
Franklin who got an Ultimate Icon Award, and Snoop Dogg
as well. Amazing speeches make shall y'all go watch all
of those online? Oh and lastly, you know who wasn't there,
Kanye Apparently he's filed the trademark to change his name
again from yay to yay yay Yeah, y yea yeah, yeah, yeah.
(25:01):
All right, well that is your yee t. And when
we come back to Yee eight hundred nine fifty fifty's
me and the award winning advice giving man away.
Speaker 4 (25:10):
Here, yeah yearning. It's way up.
Speaker 7 (25:12):
Yeah ya girl, I go o gat everybody since, whether
it's relationship for career advice, Angela's dropping facts, you should
you should know.
Speaker 4 (25:20):
This is as gee what's up his way up?
Speaker 3 (25:23):
But Angela Ye, I'm Angela yee and Mano's in the
building please here to give you that unfiltered advice, the greatest,
the greatest. And we have somebody who wants to be
anonymous on the line. Hello darling, how are you?
Speaker 8 (25:34):
Hello, miss ye how are you?
Speaker 3 (25:36):
I'm good and listen I'm the nice one, So let's
see what Mano has to say about you. I'm nice
too about your question today, I.
Speaker 11 (25:44):
Just want to know should I take him back?
Speaker 10 (25:47):
And I answer a question because I just found out
that my well, my X.
Speaker 8 (25:53):
Now, I just found out.
Speaker 2 (25:54):
He was cheating.
Speaker 10 (25:55):
He popping bowed me, recorded it on his voicemail.
Speaker 4 (25:59):
You heard him have sex with somebody else?
Speaker 11 (26:01):
Yes, I did.
Speaker 2 (26:02):
Wow anniversary of the next month.
Speaker 10 (26:04):
And I'm just tolm because you swear that it was
just the one time. It was a mistake. I love you,
blah blah blah, and I'm just.
Speaker 8 (26:13):
Really not vironment.
Speaker 10 (26:15):
I think it happened more than one time, and I
really just don't know what to do. Like I'm going
through the phase of no contact now and I just
really don't know what to do.
Speaker 4 (26:26):
You just told me you're not buying it.
Speaker 3 (26:28):
You believe he lied to you, so to me, you
do know what to do, it's just not what you
want to do, right, And sometimes what you know you
need to do is not always the easiest thing. A
lot of times it's the hardest thing. And if you're
taking back, you can only blame yourself for giving somebody
another chance.
Speaker 4 (26:45):
Who you know is lying to you.
Speaker 10 (26:47):
He had we we were great, like we won't weeping
or at odds or anything. So I'm still shocked about it.
Speaker 6 (26:54):
So he got caught one time, he did, he cheated
one time. I mean, you can forgive him, and you
possibly don't with him.
Speaker 4 (27:01):
I don't know how you feel about that, but he knew.
Speaker 11 (27:04):
I don't want to talk to you.
Speaker 4 (27:05):
Oh it's concerting.
Speaker 3 (27:07):
And here's the thing though, you know you're saying this
is just the one time. Imagine if he wouldn't have pocketalgo,
you'd still be just in bliss. It's always scary to
me when people cheating.
Speaker 10 (27:16):
Things are great, exactly, Yeah, and then when I come
in front of him, but he couldn't say anything.
Speaker 3 (27:22):
Listen, I just can't imagine being with somebody who I
just don't believe them. That's not fun and who knows
down the line, he's got a lot to prove. But
I just think you've already started the initial process of
breaking away. Do you really want to start to go
back and start this all over again with somebody you
don't even trust.
Speaker 4 (27:39):
You don't give somebody another chance.
Speaker 3 (27:41):
They have to really really earn it, and it doesn't
feel like he's earned it.
Speaker 1 (27:44):
What's the right?
Speaker 3 (27:45):
Well, I wish you luck. I know it's not easy.
Trust me, I know it ain't nothing you did than
no problem matos like just have a three, So that's
not always an answer. All right, Well that was ask
you eight hundred two nine two fifty one fifty just
in case you couldn't get through. And when we come back,
Marvin bing is going to be joining us. We're talking
about just Us. They have a whole summit going down
(28:05):
in Philly this week. I'm heading out there Thursday morning,
So were you right?
Speaker 13 (28:08):
Man?
Speaker 3 (28:09):
No, I'll be hosting her Blueprint Designing Justice through her
Lens Women's Just Us town hall brunching, so get ready
for that. But you're gonna love this conversation to see
what you can do. Also, it's way out and no
day we about.
Speaker 7 (28:22):
To doos to famous women in radio vidio.
Speaker 4 (28:25):
We're talking about Angela Ye, you're way up with Angela Yee.
Please believe that what's up?
Speaker 3 (28:30):
His way up with Angela Yee? And excited to have
Marvin being here with me. How you failing today? I'm good,
a real change maker and we're getting ready for the
just US IDEA summit Ideas Week, So tell us about
that first and foremost, so Justin's.
Speaker 2 (28:45):
Ideas Week is a little platform I created.
Speaker 4 (28:48):
Not a little platform. I'm doing that, Okay.
Speaker 14 (28:51):
A lot of my career has been behind the scenes.
A lot of things you've seen around social movements. I've
had a hand in over the course of the last
fifteen so year how to get a false scure system.
Met my father in jail for the first time. My
mother was killed when I was four, So I wanted
to get back to those communities, and I felt like,
this is going to be my legacy and.
Speaker 2 (29:10):
This is going to work on.
Speaker 3 (29:11):
There's a lot of people who aren't represented in that space,
and a lot of people who also feel like they
don't have a voice, no one cares about them, They
feel forgotten, and those are the most important people to
advocate for us, to strategize with, because sometimes people feel
like even voting doesn't matter true story.
Speaker 14 (29:26):
I mean, even one of our cornerstones of our platform is,
you know, we have a president who is a convicted fela.
What does that mean for all the people in America
who have a felony record that can't run for office
and can even vote. So even the stuff that we're doing,
is like, how does that relate into policy change in
states that are still punishing people who have been in
(29:46):
prison when it comes to voting or again running for
public office.
Speaker 2 (29:50):
If he can do it, anyone should be able to
do it.
Speaker 3 (29:51):
We do see some things getting challenged, right, but the
average person is like, how do I play a role
in any exactly?
Speaker 14 (29:57):
And that's what just AS like this week is a
platform for average people who've been to these systems that
are set on paper help to rehabilitate, support and guide,
but oftentimes we know it causes more trauma, more destruction,
separations from our families. So we're trying to bring everyone
together that's been impacted by the criminal legal system to
really just have a moment of you're not alone, We're
(30:20):
in this together, and really attack and focus our collective
energy to building something monumental that this country really hasn't
seen in terms of a united front.
Speaker 4 (30:29):
Right now, I'm talking to Marvin being the founder of
just US.
Speaker 3 (30:33):
What are some things that you've seen just from last year,
just some the strategic things that you saw implemented after
the summit last year, There's been.
Speaker 14 (30:41):
Minor changes in certain states and I get this question
a lot in terms of like.
Speaker 2 (30:45):
Well, what are you actually building toward?
Speaker 14 (30:46):
What is all this for? And for me it's simple.
I want to create the AARP for people who've been
in prison. I want to create like a labor union
for people who've been in prison, right, Like what's our space? Like,
what's a space where where if you've been impacted by
any of these systems, really where you could come and
get the same type of advocacy, services, protection, the defense,
(31:07):
legal support that all these other groups always maintain in already, Right,
you ever see anyone attack the NRA and what happens
after that attack?
Speaker 2 (31:16):
Here they come. They should be the same thing for
people who've been in the system.
Speaker 14 (31:20):
We should have a structure and some sort of entity
that you attack one, you attack all.
Speaker 2 (31:26):
And that's exactly what we're trying to build towards.
Speaker 4 (31:28):
What can people expect from justice ideas weak.
Speaker 14 (31:31):
Energy, recommitment to collaboration, an ego less, selfless clarion call
to get active, to do it together, and to recognize
their own power, like we are the power. No one
should be elected in this country without going through people
who experienced the justice system. And if we band together
as a collective. It wasn't all, ain't no stopping so.
Speaker 3 (31:53):
And where can people go to sign up if they
want to adjust usideas?
Speaker 14 (31:57):
Dot org is free, just us ideas on Instagram. If
you have a relative, friend, family, you know somebody's been incarcerated,
they got somebody currently incarcerated that has a relative and
fault to care any woman that Julie Jensen tap in.
Speaker 2 (32:11):
This is for us.
Speaker 4 (32:12):
All right, Well, I'm looking forward to it. I will
be there.
Speaker 3 (32:14):
I'm excited and thank you and I appreciate you and
the work thanking this well. Thank you so much Marvin
Bank for joining us. You can watch that phote interview

Speaker 2 (32:29):
On Way Up with angela Ye?
Speaker 4 (32:31):
What's up? As Way Up with angela Ye? May know
what a day? Every time I don't see you for
like a few days, it feels like it's a lot
going on.
Speaker 3 (32:39):
Taco Tuesday, Yes, today is Taco Tuesday's at Cup Thursday,
we're actually having an event. We're going to be having
a mayoral debate watch party at Cup and so we'll
be watching the mayoral debate.
Speaker 4 (32:50):
Yeah, it's gonna be hosts.
Speaker 3 (32:53):
Hosted by New York City Votes and you get a
chance to see the mayor's debate, the potential mayors for
the Democratic Party debate, So we got I don't know
who's running for office and what they're saying, and the
only way to do that is to hear them talk directly.
Speaker 4 (33:05):
So I'm excited for that.
Speaker 3 (33:06):
So whatever city you're in when you're voting, make sure
you pay attention to those debates. It's important, all right. Also,
thank you and Marvin Bank for joining us, just as
we'll both be out there in Philly on Thursday. We're
talking about social justice and this is your show, so
you have the last word. And if you haven't watched Straw,
we got some spoilers this way up.
Speaker 11 (33:26):
Hi Angela, this is Melvina. I feel that Shaw was
