Speaker 1 (00:18):
Hey, what's up there?
Speaker 2 (00:19):
Happy Monday, Happy Monday. Today, Tatiana Ali is going to
be joining us. She's got this these baby quotes that
she does called baby and and she also blogs. She
went through a lot having her two sons, her first
son in particular, was quite a journey. She learned a
lot about what black women get treated like when they're
giving birth. Yeah, so we'll talk to her today, but
(00:42):
of course it's a legendary Tatiana Ali. So just exciting
to have her in the building. And uh, of course
we got to start the show up with some love
and some positivity. I was at a wedding over the weekend,
our producer Dan Yay because now leaving for his honeymoon.
But he got married over the weekend. He had a
week long activities.
Speaker 1 (01:01):
I know, I saw his stories and they looked it
looked they looked amazing.
Speaker 3 (01:04):
When I tell you, all kinds of fun things happen.
Speaker 2 (01:07):
We'll talk about it later and about last night, but
in the meantime, let's spread some love, some positivity. Let's
shine a light eight hundred and two ninety two fifty
one fifty. Let us know who you want to shine
a light on. No more single ladies for Rita. She's
married now she's a Green, Daniel Green and Rita. Congratulations, guys.
Speaker 3 (01:22):
His way out.
Speaker 4 (01:26):
Turn your lights on, y'all, spreading love to those who
are doing greatness, the light on, Shine the light on.

His way up at Angela.
Speaker 2 (01:38):
Yeah, I'm here with my guy, I kem y'all a
keen Wes And today you know what, since I was
at Dan and Rita's wedding over the weekend, Let's shine
a light on Rita his now wife. Her name is
not Rita Green, but she actually works as Serious where
I used to work. That's where I started my career
in radio, and she does a programming over at Sirius.
(02:02):
But her story is very interesting. She was a dental hygienist,
that's what she went to school for. And then she
won tickets and to go see I think it was
Selena Gomez and decided when she went up to the
station to pick them up, that's what she wanted to
do and showed up for work the next morning at
five am to intern. And that's actually what started her
in radio, to see something like that, that's amazing and
(02:24):
then show up the next morning early on time. And
she transitioned from pop music into dance music. That's when
her mentor actually left and she was able to get
a job there as assistant program director, and that's when
she fell in love with dance music. And she actually
had Afrojack come in DJ, which is a huge deal,
I know.
Speaker 3 (02:42):
At the wedding.
Speaker 2 (02:42):
All right, now, who do you guys want to spread
some love to who do you want to shine a
light on?
Speaker 3 (02:45):
What's up?
Speaker 1 (02:46):
James?
Speaker 3 (02:46):
Do you want to shine a light on what?
Speaker 6 (02:48):

Speaker 7 (02:52):
Okay?
Speaker 6 (02:52):
Dan? Yes, And I want to say congratulations to him
and if fiance and I also want to sind a
light on you. And I love your dablishment, I love
your place. Then I can't wait to come there again.
Speaker 3 (03:03):
Oh you went to cup coffee up lifts people?
Speaker 6 (03:06):
Yeah, I winked in I follow you and I got
kind of nervous, but I'll be coming there again. But
I just want to shine a light on your producer
and his new wife.
Speaker 3 (03:15):
That's his wife now no longer. Yep, they married.
Speaker 6 (03:19):
What's love to them? Send them much of their way?
Speaker 3 (03:21):
All right, thank you, James.
Speaker 6 (03:23):
Fine.
Speaker 2 (03:23):
That was Shining Light eight hundred and two nine two
fifty one fifty In case you couldn't get through. And
since Akema is guest hosting today, let's come back with
some yet. Regarding comedian Damon Wayams, he was on Club
Shay Shay and so we'll find out all the tea.
He had a lot of things to talk about. For instance,
he was supposed to play Richard Pryor. I heard and
the biopic will tell you what happened.
Speaker 1 (03:44):
Is way up?
Speaker 4 (03:45):
This says proof in the rooms from the industry shade
to all the gossips out send angels feeling.
Speaker 2 (03:51):
That yeezy, it's way up with angela Ye, I'm here,
akem Wodge is hear me?
Speaker 1 (03:57):
What's up?
Speaker 6 (03:57):
Boo?
Speaker 3 (03:58):
Let's get into some eat.
Speaker 2 (03:59):
First of all, a Minecraft movie made one hundred and
fifty seven million dollars in its opening weekend. It's the
biggest domestic debut of the year and the best in
history for a video game adaptation. Well shout out to them.
I did the reads for that up here, oh man.
Prior to this weekend, Disney and Marvel's Captain America Brave
(04:20):
New World. How the benchmark for the year's biggest opening,
so yes. And then before that also Super Mario Brothers.
That was the largest start for a video game adaptation
underwe was cute and forty six million dollars. So now
this broke those records. So shout out to a Minecraft movie.
Speaker 1 (04:35):
Good for them. I've never played the game, but.
Speaker 3 (04:38):
Well you might want to, or at least watch the movie.
Speaker 1 (04:40):
I'm going to watch it all right.
Speaker 3 (04:41):
Now, let's get into Club Shay Shay.
Speaker 2 (04:43):
Damon Wayne Senior was on and he talked about a
lot of different things. One thing that he talked about was,
and they've said this before, when they were young, if
they used to fight or get in trouble, their mom
would make them kiss each other. Here's what he had
to say, in a very joking manner.
Speaker 1 (05:00):
You guys would fight, your mom would make you guys
kiss in the mouth. I learned how to tongue kids
with Marlon.
Speaker 8 (05:13):
No.
Speaker 1 (05:14):
But like, once you kiss your brother, you don't want
to do that, you don't want to fight.
Speaker 9 (05:19):
Yeah, we'll take this we'll go outside, we'll find a
place to finish this.
Speaker 7 (05:24):
But like we didn't like kissing each other.
Speaker 1 (05:26):
That's a wild sentence.
Speaker 3 (05:29):
That's a wild way to punish your kids for fighting.
Speaker 2 (05:31):
Like it worked anymore, we promise, Lois.
Speaker 1 (05:37):
It seems like child abused me.
Speaker 3 (05:38):
But all right now.
Speaker 2 (05:40):
Another thing he talked about was that he was supposed
to play Richard Pryor, but Richard Pryor's ex wife got
in the way of him playing him in the movie
because she had this whole thing called A Fallen Angel
that was basically about her struggles in her marriage, where
she detailed Richard Pryor being abusive.
Speaker 3 (05:58):
Here's what he said.
Speaker 10 (05:59):
I that was the original one that they picked, and
supposedly Richard wanted me to do it.
Speaker 1 (06:04):
This life is complex, and I don't think it's his life.
Speaker 5 (06:06):
I think it's his ex wife wife who wants to.
Speaker 10 (06:09):
Make it her story, okay, because I read her book
A Fallen Angel, which was a good book, but Richard
was abusive and she wants it to be more about that.
And I met with Jennifer and I was like, look,
Richard Pryor is Malcolm Max with punchlines.
Speaker 3 (06:26):
That's how black people see him.
Speaker 10 (06:28):
They would lose their minds if they made this movie
about you.
Speaker 7 (06:34):
And then I never heard from her again.
Speaker 3 (06:37):
That's juicy, I mean.
Speaker 1 (06:38):
But he's low key right though. I mean, it can
be two separate movies.
Speaker 3 (06:43):
If you want to make your story, if you want
to do your.
Speaker 1 (06:45):
Story, no one's telling you not to tell your story.
Speaker 2 (06:47):
Right, But a story about Richard Prior can't focus on.
Speaker 1 (06:51):
On one aspect. That has to be his whole life.
Speaker 3 (06:53):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (06:54):
And lastly, he also talked about falling in love with
his nephew's ex girlfriend.
Speaker 3 (06:58):
Oh we don't have that, okay, all right.
Speaker 2 (07:00):
Well that is your yet when we come back, we
have about last night. I told you I had an
active weekend. I know we both did the same thing
last night too.
Speaker 1 (07:07):
I know, whad the season finale? It's way up, spicy.
Speaker 5 (07:12):
So about last night, Yes, went down.
Speaker 3 (07:18):
It's way up at Angela yee. I'm here with akem Woods.
Speaker 1 (07:21):
What's up, guys, what's up?
Speaker 3 (07:22):
And about last night?
Speaker 2 (07:23):
I do want to say again a shout out to
the happy couple Dan and Rita. They got married over
the weekend. Dan's our producer, so he's on vacation, so
we are holding it down. Yes, he's on his honeymoon
right now. But it was amazing the wedding, the food
was great. Afro Jack came in surprise DJ. We got
Maino to do a song love and that went crazy.
(07:45):
They kept throwing Dan in the air. We talked to
him around like a rag.
Speaker 1 (07:50):
How long were you out too?
Speaker 3 (07:52):
It was on Saturday. It was a long time.
Speaker 2 (07:55):
Everything started at four and then it didn't end. It
didn't They're probably still there, but no, it was a
good time, So congratulations to them. And then last night
I was recovering. I was also trying to take care
of things in my home, which is overwhelming, but I
had to watch White Lotus. You were the one that
kept reminding me you, but my friend Heidi, everybody was like,
(08:17):
White Lotus, don't forget White Lotus. You watched White Lotus
tonight season finale, Season finale of season three. What did
you think? On a scale of one to ten, what
do you give it?
Speaker 1 (08:26):
I give it a six ooh yeah, higher than like
a little bit above the average, but still not happy
with it.
Speaker 2 (08:32):
I don't want to give away spoilers because I know
I'm sure there's people that haven't watched it yet. Seasons one, two,
or three? Which was your favorite or put them in order.
Speaker 1 (08:40):
I love season to the most. That was with Jennifer Coolids, right.
Speaker 3 (08:46):
I don't never know anybody.
Speaker 1 (08:48):
Jennifer, Jennifer Cools, the girl who fell off the ball.
Speaker 3 (08:50):
One was in Hawaii. Season two was in was it
in Italy?
Speaker 1 (08:55):
Yes? Okay? Season two is my favorite? Season one and
then season three.
Speaker 2 (08:59):
Okay, all right, so season three is your least favorite?
Speaker 1 (09:02):
Is favorite? Season two was? That was with Jennifer Coolist.
That was hilariously great. I love season two. All right.
Speaker 2 (09:10):
Well yeah, so if you haven't watched it, make sure
you check it out. I mean a lot of people
said they felt unfulfilled. One thing, and this is not
really a spoiler, but we will say the family that
was there with the two sons that made out with each.
Speaker 1 (09:25):
Other, yeah yeah, they got a little X ray.
Speaker 3 (09:27):
Yeah yeah.
Speaker 2 (09:27):
And the father, you know, because people don't have their
phones there, so no one had their phone, so they
didn't realize that the father was like going gone broke
and yeah, probably going to jail for embezzlement. Embezzlement, right,
so they're about to find out, you know, in this
and people wanted more from that they felt people.
Speaker 1 (09:43):
I felt unfulfilled.
Speaker 3 (09:45):
You want to reaction.
Speaker 1 (09:46):
I wanted like it.
Speaker 2 (09:46):
When people get their phones back, like what we're broke
when they were staying in this beautiful resorts. Yeah, but
that I'll say that much because that's not too much
of a spoiler.
Speaker 1 (09:55):
Yeah, it's just it's just, you know, it was what
it was. But I was a very It was mid
to me, what did you think.
Speaker 3 (10:00):
Was going to because they always started for somebody getting killed?
Who did you think I was?
Speaker 1 (10:04):
I was thinking it's going to be dead. I don't
know what I thought. I thought it was going to
be Well, I don't want to say who I thought,
because then that that'll tell you that person's not.
Speaker 3 (10:11):
It doesn't matter. Who did you think?
Speaker 1 (10:13):
I thought that dad was going to be dead?
Speaker 3 (10:14):
Okay, because that's I think that was the most obvious one.
Speaker 1 (10:17):
Yeah, that was the most obvious one. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (10:18):
All right, well that is about last night. Now when
we come back, tell us a secret. We didn't give
too many secrets away from white artists eight hundred two
ninety two fifty one fifty Call us up any secret
you had. This is a no judgment zone. No matter
what it is, you can call us up unless it's
a crime.
Speaker 1 (10:32):
Yeah, yeah, don't be telling us you murdered somebody, all right.
Speaker 2 (10:34):
Eight hundred two ninety two fifty one fifty call us up.
We want to hear your secrets. You are anonymous. It's
a no judgment zone. That's eight hundred two ninety two
fifty one fifty. Tell us a secret.
Speaker 5 (10:45):
This is a judgment free zone. Tell us a secret.
Speaker 3 (10:48):
What's up?
Speaker 1 (10:48):
This way?
Speaker 3 (10:49):
You putty Angela? Yee, I'm here with comedian I keen
Wood's what's up?
Speaker 1 (10:52):
What's up?
Speaker 3 (10:52):
You want to tell us a secret?
Speaker 1 (10:53):
I keme no, but I'm excited to hear these.
Speaker 2 (10:55):
All right, Well, you guys, it's anonymous. It's a no
judgment zone for sure. Eight hundred fifty one fifty.
Speaker 3 (11:01):
What's up? An item is calor what's your secret?
Speaker 6 (11:03):
Oh yeah?
Speaker 11 (11:04):
So I love to peg my man?
Speaker 3 (11:06):
Okay, all right.
Speaker 11 (11:07):
I introduced it to him and since then it's is
just something that we do when you've spent a little extra.
Speaker 2 (11:12):
Spikey, how do you introduce it for everybody out there?
That's like, I want to introduce my man as it is.
Speaker 11 (11:18):
It was just one of those Hey, I like to
charge something.
Speaker 7 (11:20):
New with you.
Speaker 11 (11:21):
If you're just you know, you guys got to be
real comfortable. Take a couple of shots.
Speaker 7 (11:24):
I think you are.
Speaker 1 (11:26):
How many men have you pegged? Men? Four?
Speaker 11 (11:30):
Okay, I've done two white men and then two black men.
Speaker 7 (11:36):
That far.
Speaker 1 (11:37):
Oh I'm excited for the comments to say that this
is gay. I don't think it's gay, but I know
people are gonna think it's gay.
Speaker 3 (11:43):
All right, well, kills at all. Definitely no judgment here.
Speaker 2 (11:47):
That was tell us a secret eight hundred two nine
two fifty one fifty if you couldn't get through and
still want to tell us a secret. And when we
come back, yea tea time I came, I was showing
you Real Housewives of Atlanta and this scene. That is
the reason and Kenya is not filming for the rest
of the season, but we have that for you. Definitely
want to know what your thoughts are to hit us
on at way up with Yee, so you can chime in.
Speaker 3 (12:08):
It's way up shore.
Speaker 4 (12:09):
She's about to blow the lead. Abouf this, but let's
get it. Oh yeah, Angela's feeling that. Yee tee, come
and get to sea.
Speaker 3 (12:16):
All right, it's way up with Angela. Yee. I'm here
a Keen Woods is here.
Speaker 1 (12:19):
Hey y'all, what's up?
Speaker 3 (12:20):
Hey, And it's yee tee time.
Speaker 2 (12:23):
So I had you watching some Real Housewives of Atlanta messy.
Speaker 3 (12:27):
Yes, it's very messy.
Speaker 2 (12:29):
And as you know, Kenya Moore, who is a staple
on the show, she recently has been not filming. So
basically she filmed up to a certain point and a
lot of people were talking about this, her exit from
Real Housewives of Atlanta. Some people were torn about it,
but we also hadn't seen what happened.
Speaker 3 (12:48):
Now we do know.
Speaker 2 (12:49):
This has to do with some type of pornographic images
being shown a brit Edie who's on the show.
Speaker 3 (12:54):
She's a new cast member this season, and so now.
Speaker 7 (12:56):
We have that.
Speaker 2 (12:57):
So Kenya was doing her hair so opening and she
spent a lot of time showing some images of brit
at the opening and so she had these big post
a boards. Was that she was showing and here's what happened.
Speaker 1 (13:14):
Then I kept sending me information that's some nasty work.
Speaker 8 (13:23):
Okay, I'm trying to see this girl second or whatis
is soaked crazy?
Speaker 2 (13:28):
So she showed some images of Britt performing oral sex. Yes,
right at an event in front of all these people. Now,
Bravo blacked out the post aboard and said, due to
the graphic nature of these pictures, they weren't going to
show it.
Speaker 3 (13:42):
Of these images.
Speaker 2 (13:44):
And here is what people had to say immediately after
this at the event.
Speaker 1 (13:48):
What's Lord and Hill?
Speaker 7 (13:49):
What's worse than him?
Speaker 8 (13:50):
Whatever it is, that's where we're at now.
Speaker 7 (13:53):
I didn't like the that was the line.
Speaker 8 (13:58):
It's too far, I know, and it's like, okay, tit
for tennant sometime in this group, I know you go low,
I go lower, but this this is too much.
Speaker 2 (14:08):
And the way the scene started off had came with
flowers to apologize. That's crazy to Kenya for something previous.
Kenya was just ignoring her. Now Kenya posted, you have
been my besties for the last twelve years and I
love and appreciate you so much. Last year, you cried
with me when all of my hard worked from the
salon was cut by production and none of it was shown.
I want to thank all of my friends who showed
up for me and who support me on a regular basis,
(14:28):
who love me down. Miss Laurence, thank you for gracing
us all with your presence. You are a star. She
think the event planner events by Monet. She thanked the
gorgeous models who helped make Kenya more hair care so iconic,
and she said to the cast, I wish you all
an incredible season. To my friends and family, thank you
for loving me flaws and all. So I don't know
what this means for the future on the show, but
(14:49):
you watched this, what did you think about it?
Speaker 1 (14:51):
Toxic? The most toxic thing I've ever seen one that's legal.
Revenge poort is definitely a crime in Atlanta, So please
y'alllso whoever she did it to shill file against her
because she could definitely get some jail time and some
one hundred thousand dollar fine.
Speaker 2 (15:04):
Types Though now people on social media are going back
and forth about this. Cynthia had said, I'm getting to
know Britt, but I know you. I really hate that
you let that in this way. I think you're bigger
than this, and I think you're better than this. So
Cynthia said that even though she's friends with Kenya. Now
you know, one of Kenya's friends said, all I'm gonna
say is you were provoked and antagonized for four episodes.
You were the best version of yourself during every single
(15:26):
encounter with every single cast member the moment that threat
was made. And that's because brit the threatned that she
had a gun okay yeah, on a prior episode, and
so people took that as well. Why is brit still
on the show and Kenya's not? If she's referencing I.
Speaker 1 (15:42):
Mean taking both off the show. They both toxic. But
like that's an easy solution, taking both off.
Speaker 2 (15:48):
But that was Kenya's last appearance on this season, rightfully show, and.
Speaker 3 (15:52):
So I don't know what's going to happen in the future.
Speaker 2 (15:56):
I don't know if she's going to be on season seventeen,
but I guess here to find out. But I agree
it could have been that maybe both of them shouldn't
have been because.
Speaker 1 (16:06):
Throw somebody with a time. But at the same time,
you can't go out here and show pornographic pictures of
people either, like that's wild.
Speaker 2 (16:15):
All right, well that is your Yet when we come back,
we have under the radar. These are the stories that
are not in the headlines. They're flying under the radar.
One of them I wanted to talk to you guys about.
It's a new clothing rental marketplace that has raised some money.
Speaker 3 (16:28):
I want to see if you would use this. It's
way up.
Speaker 4 (16:30):
Okay, news this in the news that relates to you.
Speaker 5 (16:34):
These stories are flying under the radar.
Speaker 2 (16:36):
It's way up with Angela yee, I'm here, a Keen
Woods is here, whatever, And it's time for under the radar.
Speaker 3 (16:42):
Do you have your real ID? You do?
Speaker 2 (16:45):
You know that everybody has to get the real ID,
and you have until May seventh.
Speaker 3 (16:49):
That's when, oh, now you don't know.
Speaker 2 (16:52):
And that's when new federal rules go into effect. And
they pushed us back for years because I remember they
kept saying, if you don't have this real life, you
won't be able to travel. But the real ID Act
was passed by Congress in two thousand and five. They're
saying the federal government has to enhance security standards for identification.
So that's what this is about. Everybody's panicking. So everybody's
(17:14):
let me see, is this a real ID? I think
you have the right one? Not for federal purposes, it
says here, Okay, I hope so, but yes, there's it's
really hard for people to get appointments right now because
people waited till the last minute. But the real ID
rollout has varied from state to state a lot of
residents are confused about who needs it, who's required to
(17:34):
get one, how quickly you can get a new ID.
Now that people are rushing to get this done. So
they said May seventh, that data is very much on
That final rule was published in January to allow for
necessary flexibility. So yes, to avoid delays at airport security checkpoints,
everybody eighteen and old are earthed to secure proper identification
(17:54):
by May seventh. All right, now, I was telling you
guys about this pair to pair clothing rens to marketplace.
It's called Pickle oh, and they've raised twelve million dollars.
They're trying to be the Airbnb of fashion. Okay, So
basically it's a rental service that's available via mail nationwide,
but it's focused especially on New York, LA and Miami.
Lenders and renters can meet up or use courier services
(18:17):
through Uber or door dash, and you can basically exchange
clothes and borrow somebody's outfit.
Speaker 1 (18:23):
Oh.
Speaker 2 (18:24):
So it's something that's been popular with fashion influencers. They
are using it to monetize their closets. So maybe you
want to rent out your clothes like an Airbnb for
your clothes, okay, and you can do that directly to somebody.
They pay you to borrow and wear your clothes and
then give it back. What do you think about that.
I'm not doing it, okay. Like let's say I was
(18:45):
at a wedding over the weekend. Yeah, so let's just
say I needed address for the wedding and I saw somebody.
Speaker 1 (18:52):
I get why people do it.
Speaker 3 (18:54):
I'm not doing it because you love clothes.
Speaker 1 (18:56):
I like my own clothes. I'm not trying to be
in some risk.
Speaker 3 (18:59):
It's kind of like thrift shopping though no in a way,
but you don't need to keep it.
Speaker 1 (19:03):
I like to keep the stuff that I got.
Speaker 2 (19:05):
But what if it's something special that you want to
wear one time only. It's kind of like how rents
the Runway was.
Speaker 1 (19:11):
I mean, I mean, I don't want to say maybe,
but I'm I'm.
Speaker 2 (19:15):
Wear You're getting it directly from a person, and there's
certain people you look at online and you're like, oh,
they dressed so nice.
Speaker 3 (19:22):
And now you can monetize. You could rent your.
Speaker 1 (19:24):
Clothes out all.
Speaker 3 (19:26):
Right under the radar. Now we do have the way
it mix.
Speaker 2 (19:30):
At the top of the hour, plus, Tatiana Ali is
going to be joining us today.
Speaker 3 (19:34):
So excited.
Speaker 2 (19:34):
You were excited, I know, because we are all big
fans of the Fresh Prince, of course, but she's done
a lot since then too, and she also has her
own passion project that she's working on based off of
her own experience giving birth, and we'll talk about that.
Speaker 3 (19:47):
It's way she likes it, like.
Speaker 7 (19:49):
The Angel Jean, like they Angela Jean Man.
Speaker 5 (19:52):
She's spilling it all. This is yet way off.
Speaker 2 (19:58):
All right, it's way up with Angela yee here and
of course Akima is here with me.
Speaker 1 (20:02):
What's up?
Speaker 3 (20:03):
What's up? And let's get into this. Well. First of all, let's.
Speaker 2 (20:08):
Talk about I'm Kim Kardashian and Beyonce. Rumor is that
the two of them have been having crisis calls after
Kanye has been attacking Beyonce and jay Z's children, also
having things to say about his own kids.
Speaker 1 (20:22):
He is unhinged. The fact that I want to take
away his phone is wild now.
Speaker 2 (20:25):
According to in Tauch, a source told a source said
that Kim and Beyonce have been communicating and that Kim
feels terrible about what Kanye has said and that he
crossed the line and they're trying to reach out to
people in Kanye's circle, hoping to encourage him to seek treatment.
They're saying, this is just a huge crisis, and no
matter how angry and disgusted they are, there's still a
(20:46):
sense of sadness that Kanye is on this path.
Speaker 3 (20:50):
Yeah, I mean that's a I mean, he has said
something he's.
Speaker 1 (20:53):
I mean, look at his Look at his Twitter. He's
like posting crazy. He was he was a part of
the Nazis and he wasn't and then he bore a
Black klans when out fair like he's unhinged.
Speaker 5 (21:02):
Well.
Speaker 2 (21:02):
Also on Friday, Tina Knowle shared an Instagram post celebrating
Beyonce and jay Z's seventeenth wedding anniversary. She said, happy
seventeenth anniversary to two of my favorite people in the
whole wide world, and she praised them for their love
and commitment to each other. She said, true love rises
above all of the bs. Enjoy your day, Enjoy love
all right now. Terence Howard was on the Demystified Side
(21:26):
podcast and he had some things to say, and this
one really viral where he was basically referencing I guess
conversations with diddyh or actually going to Ditty's house. Here's
what he had to say.
Speaker 9 (21:45):
Huffy invited me for weeks, asking me to come and
wanted me to be his acting coach for a while.
I'm like, okay, what's the material you want to work on?
He's just looking at me. So then my assistant was like,
you know, he wants to hang out with you next week,
and I was like, for what He's like, I think
he's trying to you. Okay, now I get it, So
now no more communication have lost businesses because I don't.
(22:06):
I don't bend over in that way. I don't compromise.
I don't play gay roles. I don't kiss a man.
I don't do that because the man card means everything.
Speaker 2 (22:16):
I got to ask you, Keem, as a gay man,
what is the man card?
Speaker 1 (22:20):
The man card is toxic because just because you're gay
doesn't make you less of a man, It just makes
you gay. So now I respect his decision to not
want to play gay roles. He's not gay, he doesn't
want to play gay roles.
Speaker 2 (22:32):
I don't care, and don't Also, whether you're gay or street,
don't invite me over trying to sleep a meeting. Are
the guys I want to take acting lessons from you exactly.
Speaker 1 (22:41):
That's the real problem. The problem is that Oh and.
Speaker 2 (22:44):
This is from the PbD podcast. Sorry I said the
wrong podcast, but yes, I think.
Speaker 1 (22:48):
That's the real So the man card is weird because
you could be a gay man and still not sleep
with men to get things like so the fact that
it doesn't make you less of a man to be gay,
So that's the man card is weird and toxic.
Speaker 2 (23:00):
And then they there was this rumor, and I don't
know how true this is, but Usher was trending over
the weekend.
Speaker 3 (23:06):
Did you see this.
Speaker 2 (23:06):
They're saying that a man filed for divorce after his
wife was seduced by him during a recent performance, and
this performance went viral.
Speaker 3 (23:15):
The woman They kept saying.
Speaker 2 (23:16):
Oh, Usher seduced this church going woman, so on and
so forth. I want to say, these allegations have not
been verified anywhere. But they're saying the husband was upset
that his wife, who has never kissed him in public,
appeared intimately engaged with a complete stranger in the presence
of twenty thousand people. This has not been verified. I mean,
(23:37):
I didn't see them kiss. I watched the video footage.
I saw them extremely close and like really face and face,
so you know, and then I saw her kind of
slink down to the ground to.
Speaker 3 (23:49):
It was very seductive.
Speaker 1 (23:51):
Listen, if you were not comfortable with your relationship, don't
go see us.
Speaker 2 (23:55):
I didn't see him anywhere, but we also don't know
that this is verified, but it was trending. All right,
Well that is your Yet when we come back, we
have asked ye eight hundred two ninety two fifty one fifty.
I'm here, Akeim is here? Any question you have, We're
here to help with. So Tatiana Ali is going to
be joining us. So excited. Fresh Prince is one of
the best shows ever.
Speaker 4 (24:12):
Amazing show, okay everybody since with its relationship for career advice,
Angela's dropping facts.
Speaker 5 (24:20):
This is ask gee?
Speaker 3 (24:21):
What's up? This way up? But Angela Yee, I'm here,
a Keim Weiz is here with me.
Speaker 2 (24:25):
Hey, and it's time for ask Yee eight hundred two
nine two fifty one fifty.
Speaker 3 (24:29):
We have Latanya on the line. What's up Latanya?
Speaker 11 (24:32):
And what's going on? Ye?
Speaker 3 (24:34):
What's up?
Speaker 6 (24:35):
Is me?
Speaker 3 (24:35):
And ikem Hey?
Speaker 11 (24:38):
How are you?
Speaker 3 (24:38):
I'm good, Baker? What's your question today?
Speaker 11 (24:41):
Okay, I'm in byre need of you guys help. Okay,
there is this tall, chocolate, pretty brown skin next foot.
I mean, oh my god. I when I tell you,
I am okay, listen, I'm focused on shut it down.
On the said look, I gotta love me more than
I love you are to focus. But when I tell you,
(25:01):
every time I wake up, I go to sleep all
day long, I'm thinking about this person. I need my
medicine and he's my medicine. But I have rejected him
because I'm trying to stay focused. I want to know.
My question is there is just me?
Speaker 7 (25:16):
Is this just me?
Speaker 11 (25:16):
Does this happen to anybody else? Because when I tell you,
I am totally captivated to the point of I don't
care what he's doing. When he's doing whatever he's doing,
just as Monk is he come see me? And I
had to stop that. So it still affected me even
though I let him go. Yee, what should I do? Like?
Is this normal? What's going on? It's like he came
(25:40):
around in a time where I was really going through
something and it was just like he said something to
me like it's not about you getting down, it's just
how long are you gonna stay down? And I got up,
and I kept going up, and I'm almost all the
way up, And so what I'm saying is hey, to
just to touch the small on my bag? Can you
I'm talking about just to im when you know I'm
talking about when this person walk in, he could have
(26:01):
been just tough as bricks before he walked in. But
then you put it in the.
Speaker 1 (26:05):
Didn't answer our question how large y'all been dated? Are you?
Speaker 4 (26:09):
Guys?
Speaker 11 (26:10):
Say that it's a situation.
Speaker 1 (26:12):
It's like a thing, you know, So are you so?
Are you trying to be in a relationship with this
with this Michael B.
Speaker 11 (26:19):
Jordan looking dude, if Papa Doc called me and said
yes right now, yes, I would be totally. I would
be fool fledged.
Speaker 1 (26:28):
Not.
Speaker 11 (26:28):
I mean, I'm already like in a relationship without being
in a relationship. That's why I'm trying to ask you, So.
Speaker 3 (26:33):
Do you feel like he does he feel the same
way about you?
Speaker 7 (26:36):
Or no? I mean, like we.
Speaker 11 (26:37):
Even told each other we love each other and stuff.
But I know he focused on his money right now,
and I know how that could because that's how I'm
supposed to be right focused on my money right now.
But he is just captivating. He's still in my mind,
like with everything I do, you know, there's.
Speaker 2 (26:50):
A chance that he could end up wanting to be
with you too, and you know, but if not, it
feels like you're very knowing what it is. You're not
lying to yourself. You just are obsessed with this person
right now.
Speaker 1 (27:03):
Yeah.
Speaker 11 (27:04):
Yeah, And that's why I shut it down. And I'm
just taking time to what I need to focus on
because like when he said what he said, like I'm
focused on my money. Okay, that's what I need to
be focused on too. So it was kind of like
put me on the right track, like, Okay, fall back
off this for a minute, focus on your money. But
he's still there, and I, like I said, you said it, yee,
I'm going to ask. I'm gonna I'm not going to
(27:25):
ask on him. Want to wait till he responds to me,
but I'll be there.
Speaker 7 (27:29):
I'll wait.
Speaker 3 (27:29):
Enjoy it.
Speaker 2 (27:30):
Who knows this could be her one ape? Just a
fun time.
Speaker 1 (27:34):
I hope you get wiped up girl.
Speaker 11 (27:36):
Me too, right, Thank you guys much.
Speaker 3 (27:39):
Have a good time.
Speaker 7 (27:40):
You all right?
Speaker 2 (27:43):
You telling her to go back to the stream listen
so she wants right now enjoy it. Doesn't happen off you.
Speaker 1 (27:50):
No, you're right, I'm toxic, all right?
Speaker 3 (27:52):
What that was? Ask ye?
Speaker 2 (27:53):
Eight hundred and two ninety two fifty one fifty. If
you couldn't get through, you could leave a message and
we'll answer your question in that manner. And when we
come back, Tatiana Ali is gonna be joining us young
Ashley from the Fresh Prince.
Speaker 3 (28:05):
You know it.
Speaker 2 (28:06):
Listen, she's done so much since then, but we cannot
say stop saying.
Speaker 3 (28:09):
She's on Abbot Elementary. I know, but it's iconic. All right,
it's way up, turn me up here we go upgain.
Speaker 5 (28:18):
This is way up with Angela ye.
Speaker 1 (28:20):
What's up?
Speaker 9 (28:21):
His?
Speaker 2 (28:21):
Way up with Angela yee? And this is exciting. We
have a legend in the building. Tatiana Ali is here.
Speaker 3 (28:26):
Welcome, what's that? Thank you?
Speaker 7 (28:28):
Thanks for having me.
Speaker 3 (28:29):
Well, thank you so much for coming.
Speaker 2 (28:30):
I was watching you on Taman Hall, so it's nice
to see like the energy that you have there. And
also on Abbot Elementary, which is one of my favorite shows.
Speaker 7 (28:37):
Oh my gosh, it's so much fun.
Speaker 3 (28:39):
Yeah, and I know that cast looks like they have
a good time.
Speaker 8 (28:42):
They have a good time. They're like comedy scientists. It's
like every time you go. You have to have your
A game.
Speaker 7 (28:47):
It's been really cool.
Speaker 2 (28:48):
I feel like you are on your A game though, No, seriously,
because if you think about it, and I didn't realize
until you said it, and that's why I brought up
Tamman Hall. You said you've been acting since you were four, Yes, Man,
like four years old.
Speaker 7 (29:01):
Four years old.
Speaker 3 (29:02):
That's wild.
Speaker 2 (29:03):
And to see that you're still going strong today, that
is such a rare thing.
Speaker 8 (29:07):
It's been your journey. Yeah, it's I've been really blessed
to have incredible mentors.
Speaker 2 (29:16):
How were you when you started on The Fresh Prince?
I was eleven, eleven years old.
Speaker 8 (29:20):
Yeah, I got the job from here in New York,
and then it slowly moved us to California and my family,
my mom and dad and my sisters.
Speaker 7 (29:28):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (29:29):
And then you're still in La right, I'm actually in
the Bay.
Speaker 7 (29:32):
I'm in CALFI.
Speaker 3 (29:33):
Okay, yes, all right now. I also want to talk
about purpose right now.
Speaker 2 (29:37):
And I love this because you have a company that
you baby Ams.
Speaker 3 (29:41):
Yes, and this is all and.
Speaker 2 (29:43):
This is something I talk about on this show a lot,
is the black maternal health care and the crisis that
we're in.
Speaker 3 (29:49):
And I actually pulled up, just like what's going on.
Speaker 2 (29:52):
In twenty twenty five, maternal deaths have dropped except for
black women. So the mortality rate for black mothers in
the US has not improved. And so this is something
that you have taken on as a mission. Can you
tell us what your personal experience was, Like.
Speaker 8 (30:07):
My oldest baby, I had a very healthy pregnancy, but
when I got into the hospital and it was time
to give birth, everything changed and you know, my birth
plan was ignored. I experienced obstetric violence, I was restrained.
All the things that happened and there ended with resulting
(30:28):
in my baby being in the NICU for the first
few days.
Speaker 3 (30:31):
And I can't imagine how scary that is.
Speaker 7 (30:33):
It's terrifying because we went in healthy.
Speaker 8 (30:35):
Same pediatrician I as a child was the pediatrician from
my son, and I remember finally getting to his office
and him holding up my baby and just being like,
don't worry, we have a healthy baby.
Speaker 7 (30:46):
Boy.
Speaker 8 (30:46):
You guys are all good. We start clean from here
because you needed to hear that.
Speaker 7 (30:51):
I needed to hear that.
Speaker 8 (30:53):
And we went through, you know, a year in change
of just real like like almost like a PTSD right
of like what happened, and how did that go down?
Speaker 7 (31:01):
Like that? When I found out we were expecting.
Speaker 8 (31:03):
Our youngest, that's when all the red light alarms went off.
Speaker 7 (31:07):
I cannot do that again.
Speaker 8 (31:09):
I found this whole world of activists and advocates and
community birth workers, black midwives and doulas and who have
been raising the alarm for decades. This has been going
on the same experience that I had. This is the
kind of treatment and lack of listening and lack of
(31:30):
bodily autonomy.
Speaker 7 (31:32):
That leads to deaths.
Speaker 8 (31:34):
And I started the advocacy work, educating myself, going everywhere
I could while.
Speaker 7 (31:39):
I was still pregnant, while I was pregnant with my secondary.
Speaker 2 (31:41):
Because you learned from that first one and you're like,
we're never going to let this happen.
Speaker 8 (31:45):
Yes, I was, you know, I was doing my research,
I was learning. I was looking for Oh my gosh,
I want a midwife.
Speaker 7 (31:51):
I want a black midwife. I want this experience.
Speaker 8 (31:54):
And at the same time, I just wanted to share
what I was seeing and what I was learning.
Speaker 2 (31:59):
If I had known, because you want to have, nothing
would have been different, you know, just a flashback to
like you said, you had a plan and they just
ignored what your plan was.
Speaker 7 (32:07):
It was just like that piece of paper was just tossed.
From the minute that we walked in, absolutely all right.
Speaker 3 (32:12):
What Tatiana Ali is here? Definitely a legend. She's got
a lot going on.
Speaker 2 (32:16):
Of course we know her, it's actually from Fresh Prince,
but she also has a lot going on in the
realm of helping other women with her baby Yams. We
have more with her when we come back. It's way up,
way up with Angela Yee. More now what's up his
way up at Angela Yee. I'm here and I am
talking to Tatiana Ali. I know recently you've seen her
on Abbot Elementary. You know her from the Fresh Prince
(32:38):
and she's got her own venture going on with baby Yams.
Speaker 7 (32:41):
I learned during my advocacy work.
Speaker 8 (32:43):
I don't come from a particularly like litigious family, like
you know, my parents are immigrants, Like if something happens
to us, it's not like well co like I just
wasn't that like that either, right, I wasn't raised that way.
But along my work I realized that the same things
that happened to you, there are people who have sued
for that. And by the time I figured that out
(33:05):
though the statue of limitations, so and.
Speaker 7 (33:08):
And I wish I had known that because.
Speaker 2 (33:10):
You was healthy after all of that and in sight
of you know, what happened in there.
Speaker 3 (33:16):
Yes, so that's the biggest pass.
Speaker 7 (33:18):
They do it, and they're both doing well today. They're
just they're healthy, happy babies.
Speaker 2 (33:22):
Did you know about midwives and dulas when you were
having your first baby.
Speaker 7 (33:25):
I'd heard the term.
Speaker 8 (33:27):
I'd heard the term dulas, and I even I even
had one actually during my first birth. But I didn't
understand community dulas. I didn't understand the difference with community midwives.
So the dula I worked with was very much kind
of like in conjunction with the hospital. There are even
there are a lot of midwives in hospitals, but they
(33:51):
don't they function differently from community midwives.
Speaker 7 (33:54):
And community duelas.
Speaker 8 (33:56):
Okay, So I didn't have that sort of protection and
guidance from my doula that a community duela would give someone.
Speaker 2 (34:03):
What would you tell somebody listening now, a woman who
is expecting and is going to have to check into
the hospital to have her baby, What advice would you
give to a woman right now, just so she can
feel more comfortable and know how to advocate for herself.
Speaker 8 (34:16):
So I would say number one, trust your instincts. Any
little microaggression. We're so used to microaggressions at the grocery store,
people following you, looking at you funny. This is not
the place for that. We're used to like, you know what,
let me just go about my business. I'm not worried
about that. This is not the place for that. If
you experience any kind of microaggressions with your caregiver, people
like dismissing your questions or not taking the time.
Speaker 7 (34:38):
To really sit with you, look elsewhere. That's one.
Speaker 8 (34:41):
And build your team, the team of people around you.
It could be a sister, could be a friend, it
could be your partner. Have that team because there's something
that's happened in this.
Speaker 7 (34:52):
Culture where it's like we feel like we have to
do everything.
Speaker 8 (34:55):
By ourselves, right, But that's not how That's not how
it works in this that It's not how it works
when you're some kids, when you have a family, that
building your family, where's your village?
Speaker 7 (35:05):
Like, look look to people for help, tell.
Speaker 8 (35:07):
Them what they what you want, like what your desire is,
what your dream is, and then go find it right.
Speaker 3 (35:13):
Do your kids know how cool you are?
Speaker 8 (35:15):
Oh?
Speaker 5 (35:15):
My god?
Speaker 3 (35:16):
Do they have any idea like who their mom is?
Speaker 8 (35:19):
I mean they know like I'm an actor, like an
art you know, but they're not on TikTok already. I've
kept them away from phones for as long let's see
how long I can do it. But so they don't
know all of that.
Speaker 2 (35:33):
No, not necessarily, because even because they can watch like
Abbot Elementary is.
Speaker 3 (35:37):
Yeah, you don't mind having that on in the house.
Speaker 7 (35:39):
Yeah, no, no, no, no no.
Speaker 2 (35:42):
So talk to me about even how you got that. Well,
you said you actually have to audition for it too.
Oh yeah, oh.
Speaker 7 (35:48):
Yeah, no.
Speaker 8 (35:48):
I auditioned for it just like actors do. And I
was really excited when I.
Speaker 3 (35:52):
Found out that I got it right.
Speaker 7 (35:55):
There's something about Crystal that I don't know.
Speaker 2 (35:58):
I felt like I got her a little snarky.
Speaker 8 (36:02):
She's snarky, a little nice, nasty mm mmmm. She's kind
of a composition of some different people what I've known.
Speaker 2 (36:11):
Wish I would Yeah, all right, Tatiana Ali is here.
Now this is a special day. Normally we would have
last word when we come back. But because I'm enjoying
myself and living out my dream with Tatiana Ali. We
have one more break with her when we come back.
It's way up.
Speaker 4 (36:27):
About to doos to famous women in radio radio.
Speaker 5 (36:30):
We're talking about Angela Ye. You're way up with Angela Yee.
Please believe that.
Speaker 2 (36:35):
What's up is way up with Angela Yee. I'm here
and Tatiana Ali is here with me aka Ashley from
The Fresh Prince. Do you think that people feel like
they know what you're like just based off of your roles,
because like you said, you've been doing this since you
were a kid. It's not just acting, it's the music
and now it's this activism work. Yes, I want to
show you the blanket. I cannot wait to see that.
And I know you've sourced the materials from Ghana. Yes,
(36:58):
all right, so talk to me about this. To see
these blankets?
Speaker 7 (37:01):
Oh okay, So that's these are baby ams.
Speaker 3 (37:04):
Okay.
Speaker 8 (37:04):
And so when I was working with my midwife, when
I was pregnant with my youngest Alejandro, I a mom
group that I spoke at. They gave me ankara and
I love to sew, and so I made a quilt
from my son and I put blessings in it. My
husband and I it was a really expectant, like joyful
(37:24):
time in my life, especially after what I experienced, and
I got so.
Speaker 7 (37:27):
Many compliments on it. So I started to design.
Speaker 3 (37:30):
This is beautiful these baby quilts.
Speaker 8 (37:34):
And every pattern a blessing. So this is the blessing
of abundance and that's the name of the pattern. And
the ankara comes from a woman who sells fabrics in
Acra and it's a really iconic West African fabric.
Speaker 3 (37:49):
And then it's beautiful have bautiques and.
Speaker 7 (37:52):
Then we got them collefic.
Speaker 3 (37:53):
Oh really, I love this. Okay, go ahead, I'm sorry.
Speaker 8 (37:57):
And ten of the proceeds of the blankets go towards
grants for community Black and Indigenous midwives and dulas. This
is beautiful, yeah, and they used the medians for schooling.
They use those grants for their birth kids.
Speaker 7 (38:11):
We do it through an organization called Birth Future Foundation.
Speaker 8 (38:16):
Last year they gave seventy five thousand dollars worth of
grants and we were able to participate in that grand
giving with the sales of the blankets.
Speaker 3 (38:24):
These are great gifts for anybody.
Speaker 7 (38:26):
People by their forgifts.
Speaker 8 (38:28):
I get emails from from grandma's and abuelas like who
you know, they get these for their grand babies and
it's a keepsake.
Speaker 7 (38:37):
They're meant to be passed down.
Speaker 2 (38:39):
I have this blanket from when I was born that
I still have to this day.
Speaker 3 (38:43):
Yes, yeah, do you have anything?
