Speaker 1 (00:00):
Well, our girl, actress Taraji p Henson will be this
year's commencement speaker at Spelman College's graduation ceremony. Sevelman's interim president,
Rosalind Brewer, said in part that Taraji's brilliance on screen
is matched by her commitment to advocacy and empowerment.

Speaker 2 (00:17):
Most president of Spelman.

Speaker 1 (00:20):
Rosalind Rosalind Brewer Brewer, Roslyn Brewer, Uh huh, yeah, she's
the interim president. Yes at Spelman, only know one ros Bruer. Okay,
all right, Well, Miss Brewer said that Taraji's brilliance on
screen is matched by her commitment to advocacy and empowerment,

(00:40):
making her a powerful role model for our graduating students
as they prepare to step into the world and lead
in their own extraordinary ways. So, Steve, you've been a
guest speaker at a few graduation ceremonies and uh, we're
living in some very trying times. So what advice would
you give to a class of twenty twenty five graduate?

Speaker 2 (01:02):
I mean it's simple for me, as follow your dreams
because that's the eventual, that's eventually the thing that will
make you thirst and chase the best. Now you can
go get a job, but I suggest if you're going
and get a job, then have your job bankroll your
dreams because listen to me, if life becomes worth it

(01:24):
when you are chasing what you were born to do.
And that's not always the case with your particular degree,
as most people find out. But now you are, by
sitting in this room today, you have proven something that
you are capable of completing very difficult tasks, and you

(01:47):
have the ability to see it through and you are
an amazing person on recall, recalling, of information testing all
of that. So take all those jewels and positive points
that you've developed over the years and applied to your life,
because real life starts after graduation. You go get out

(02:09):
this bubble of the campus life. You go get out
the bubble of being a college student. Afterwards, life really
begins and you've got to be ready for that. And
when real life really begins, chase your dreams. That's my
message to everybody. And that's why I've never been invited

(02:30):
back twice. Really, anybody has me to come back down
here again. Because educators are funny people, especially doctors and stuff,
because they play so much emphasis on education and the
importance of education, and it is if you want to
be a teacher, doctor Dennis lawyer, absolutely, But if you're

(02:51):
not that person, what do you have? And you have
your dreams and your visions And you know, I say that,
which means a lot to the students. And I can't
tell you how many students have came up to me afterwards,
years later and thank you. But the PhD is sitting
behind me with them castles on their head, with them
bars on their robes. They're not filling me.

Speaker 1 (03:14):
Oh wow, you're listening to the Steve Harvey Morning Show.
