Speaker 1 (00:00):
All right, here we are, guys, our last break of
the day. Wow, it's been a good day, right, It's
been a great day.
Speaker 2 (00:09):
All right, Steve, Hey, you know, my closing remarks today
is for Junior. On tomorrow, Junior will be speaking in
front of the Senate in Texas and he's going to
talk about the importance of passing bills to help sickle
sell a.
Speaker 3 (00:32):
Patience.
Speaker 2 (00:35):
We admire Junior for this, but Junior is a little apprehensive,
and so at the beginning of the show, I was
trying to talk to him. But I have something for
Junior as you go in front of the Senate. The
thing that has always helped me whenever I do speeches,
because Junior say, he's been writing a speech and he's
(00:55):
torn the paper up several times. One of the things
that's always help me when I'm speaking of level of importance,
and especially if I'm speaking on the subject that I know,
I always speak from the heart. It's more effective people.
(01:18):
You know, have you ever watched the Court show and
you've seen like people get a chance to talk to
to the defendant who did something to their family and
they read this statement. I've always wondered why that is,
But the average person, the average person I have to understand,
(01:40):
has to write their statements down. But I would think
that's one of the moments where I would be most
effective if I spoke from the heart. If I've lost
somebody and it's because of you, I don't need a
piece of paper to tell you how I feel. And
I'm using that as example of what tomorrow should look
like for you, Junior, Be authentically you. When you stand
(02:04):
in front of a group of people and you're speaking
on a subject, especially a subject where you are an
expert on, and you are an expert, know this fact
that as you go in front of the Senate tomorrow,
that you are the one person in that room who
knows exactly what they're talking about, who has first hand
(02:25):
knowledge of anything that comes out your mouth, about this
debilitating disease, how it affects you, how it makes you
have to adjust how you live your life, the crippling
effects of it, the pain of it. So when you're talking, Junior,
I suggest you take an index card with some bullet
(02:47):
points so you don't miss the major things you do.
Speaker 3 (02:51):
But I will find three, no more than four.
Speaker 2 (02:53):
Things to cover, and cover those three or four important
things about Sickle Sale that nobody may have thought of.
So you're saying something that's very poignant, something that's very sincere,
and something that puts something on their head that they
may have never thought of. I love talking in front
(03:14):
of people when I know I'm the one who knows
what he's talking about. Well, Junior, you can rest assured
that on tomorrow, you will be the one person in
that room. Now, that could be somebody else in there
with Sickle Sell, and they may know, but they didn't
ask them to talk.
Speaker 3 (03:27):
They ask you to talk.
Speaker 2 (03:29):
So go up there with a lot of confidence, and
go up there with your head hell high, because brother,
you are survival. You have survived so many crises. Get
your head up, man, you ain't gotta look down at them.
You stronger than most everybody in that room. You are
the toughest dudes I know.
Speaker 3 (03:50):
Now. You walk in there just like that.
Speaker 2 (03:53):
I'm a bad man, and you can walk up there
and know that because Junior, I'm telling you, most people
don't deal with what you deal with. I'm a bad man,
and I walk up there with that attitude. I'm a
bad man, but I'm here to tell you some facts
that you know nothing about And what I'm about to
tell you is one hundred percent truth because I live
(04:13):
it and I want y'all to understand. So while y'all
sit up in here and take your time to decide
if you're gonna pass a bill or not, what's wrong
with you? Where is your heart at? Where's your heart
for people?
Speaker 3 (04:29):
Now?
Speaker 2 (04:29):
Because this disease affects primarily black people and Asians Native Americans,
and it don't affect a whole lot of whites. Could
that be the reason why you have in trouble with
these bills? But let me tell you something. We love
our life just like you love your life. We want
(04:49):
the same things in life you have. We all want
to be happy, and we all want to be successful,
but more importantly, we all want to be here. Now
can you relate to that? And all of us vote.
We vote. We are part of the system, and we
pay taxes and all you got to do is pass
(05:12):
a bill to help us. But as you sit here
and you debate this help, let me tell you what
I don't get to debate.
Speaker 3 (05:20):
I don't get to debate when it happens to me.
Speaker 2 (05:23):
I don't get to debate the severity of the pain
I don't get to debate whether I was had something
planned or not.
Speaker 3 (05:32):
And all you got to do is pass a bill. Now.
Speaker 2 (05:36):
You can make this sound as complicated as you want,
but it get real simple for us. We looking for help,
We looking for some relief, and y'all can provide it.
Speaker 3 (05:48):
Now.
Speaker 2 (05:48):
What you're gonna do with this opportunity to help somebody?
And I hope I said something that you didn't understand
about this disease before, but now you do, and you
heard it from me because with it and who knows
when I have my next crisis. But while I'm sitting
in that hospital, I will remember that I ask for help,
(06:10):
and I remember whether you gave it to me or not.
My name is Junior. I'm killed spades. I'm a bad man.
Thank y'all for having me. Y'all have a great one today.
Talk to God today. He would absolutely love to hear
from you. Yeah, I'll ask.
