great man this morning? Because I can you know how,
I've said this before, but you know how there's like
a presence when you have somebody home, you know that
there's somebody else in that in your house, my daughter

(01:23):
being exact from college, no invasion, no no, no, no no,
but just the sense that my daughter is there and
that I know she's there, and and it just it's
it's actually just kind of calming, you know what I mean.
It's like, Okay, she's good. All right, this is good.

(01:45):
I say that now. I know that I might change
my mind at some point here coming up, but I'm
glad that she's back.

And I can you appreciate her under your roof?

it's now or never. Now. What is he trying to
say to us, Well, live boldly because time waits for

(05:32):
no one. Bon Jovi, it's my life and it's now

say there is a specific song that can help you
have laser focus.

Speaker 2 (06:20):
All right, and you'll hear what that song is in minutes.
Stay right there, Welcome to Friday Morning, Toby and Chili
in the morning. Here at ninety seven point one was CHFM.
As you get ready for the weekend or to take
on the day before the weekend, you should know that
there is a song that is the best for you
according to neuroscientists when it comes to boosting your focus.

Speaker 3 (06:43):
Like if you have ADHD, especially Box Goldberg Variations is
the perfect tune to help you focus.

Speaker 2 (07:07):
The only thing that that song makes me want to
focus on Chili is going back to bed.

Speaker 3 (07:12):
Yeah, it is definitely a calming song. I'm not sure
about listening to that if I'm intensely working on a project.
I don't like any noise when I'm in the zone
working on something intensely.

Speaker 2 (07:26):
Oh you see, I like some music on in the background,
but not that. No, that's that is not a fire
me up to get anything done sort of a song.

Speaker 3 (07:36):
Well, if you want to try it, you could. I
don't know if it's going to help you fall asleep faster,
or maybe it's gonna surprise you you might actually get
stuff done.

Speaker 2 (07:44):
I mean, hey, I'm no neurologist or neuroscientist or whatever,
but if Bach does it for you, Bach does it
for you.

Speaker 3 (07:53):
I could try to put that on while my eleven
year old is doing homework and see how he reacts.

Speaker 2 (07:57):
You realize that that song was the song from you know,
Silence of the Lands when Hannibal lecters you know who
when he's having a fend for dinner.

Speaker 3 (08:07):
Oh god, now that ruined it for me.

Speaker 2 (08:10):
Well, why do you think that that song was put
into the movie Oh God. Anyway, if you want to

Speaker 1 (08:34):
The eye, Top Stories top of the Hour.

Speaker 3 (08:39):
Former FBI director James Comy is facing backlash for a
social media post that some say calls for the assassination
of President Trump. The post included a picture of seashells
on a beach that were arranged to form the numbers
eighty six forty seven. Eighty six is slang for getting

(08:59):
rid of something or someone. New Jersey Transit train service
has stopped because of a strike. Train engineers walked off
the job just after midnight after a contract deal could
not be worked out. A two year old child is
expected to be okay after following fifteen stories from an
apartment balcony in Silver Spring yesterday. The child reportedly landed

(09:21):
in bushes below and wound up with the broken arm.
Police are investigating Metro rail riders may soon be able
to tap their credit or debit cards to pay for
their trips. Metro announced yesterday they're working on a system
to allow tap to pay, which will eliminate the need
for smart trip cards. Some court cases in Fairfax County

(09:43):
are being rescheduled because of technical issues at the courthouse,
so some hearings will be held virtually or moved to
the Historic Courthouse. Human remains, specifically a human leg, were
found near Taylor Swift's Rhode Island residence, and police say
that leg was sent to the medical Examiner for analysis.

(10:05):
And according to a recent survey, fifty two percent say
Memorial Day has lost its original meeting, but sixty percent
still associated with honoring fallen military service members, and cookouts
are the most popular way people celebrate. Forecast today a
hot and humid day. There is a chance of a
thunderstorm this afternoon. His will be in the upper eighties

(10:29):
right now, sixty six and Stafford.

Speaker 2 (10:31):
That's the news. Top stories at the top of the hour.
You've got Toby and Chilly in the morning at ninety
seven point one wasch FM where it is six oh
five and coming up in just a few minutes. This
is an interesting idea for the workplace. It's something that
they say might help you to be more productive. What

(10:51):
is it. We'll talk about it coming up. We'll tell
you coming up. I'm pretty sure that it might surprise you.
Stay with us six one with Toby and Chile in
the morning here on ninety seven point one wash FM. Chili,
I've got to tell you all about this incredible idea
for us to use the office that can help us
to be all more productive at what we do. More caffeine, No,

(11:14):
what is No, it's not more caffeine. It's the idea
that we should be showering during the work day.

Speaker 3 (11:22):
Yeah, taking a shower break.

Speaker 2 (11:24):
They did a study and they said that if we
take showers when we're at work, will be more productive,
more creative, and we can use more creative around here.
And seriously, they talked to four different businesses, a restaurant,
and architectural firm, at agency in a lingerie company. So

(11:44):
they experimented with they did and they say that those
employees that took a shower break showed improvement in a
range of areas from mood to productivity. That's just they're
just brilliant, we should start showering today?

Speaker 4 (11:58):
No?

Speaker 2 (11:59):
Why?

Speaker 3 (12:00):
No, way was It's a chore. It's not that simple.
I mean, first of all, if I'm doing this and
trying to take a shower, I'm certainly not washing my hair.
It'll just be from the neck down. And I don't
know if it's gonna help the hair drying and all that.
Plus you got to bring a change clothes to work.

Speaker 4 (12:16):
No, no, it would be glorious. So you would you
would consider can you imagine, let's say we have a
nine to five gig. Okay, so instead of taking a lunch.

Speaker 3 (12:26):
Break, you get the lunch break too. Okay, fine, maybe
part of your lunch break, you're okay with going in
and taking a shower and then getting redressed, maybe in
something different, and coming back to the.

Speaker 2 (12:39):
Because it refreshes you. You know, maybe you went to
work and you were having it some sort of a
morning from the night before.

Speaker 3 (12:45):
Maybe you were take a shower in the morning before
you get.

Speaker 2 (12:48):
To before you get to work, but you know, you know,
the grind your drags on, geez, and you take a
quick shower at work and you just become more productive
and more creative.

Speaker 3 (12:59):
Here's an idea. Thank you for the study about the
shower in the middle of the day. How about you
lessen the workload for all these people who are drowning
and overwhelmed instead of having them take a shower. That's
an idea. How about that?

Speaker 2 (13:15):
Well, I can't say that I'm opposed to that idea
with a nice hot shower.

Speaker 1 (13:20):
Kelby and Chilli's nearly impossible questions.

Speaker 2 (13:22):
All right, all the two thousands fields, you'll get to
relive them all for a night. The Pop two thousand
Tour is coming to town this summer, and if you
want to go, thanks to Live Nation, we can get
you into the film or to be a part of
it with Chris Kirkpatrick from the Syncotown bb Mac Ryan
Cabrera on the Way Down and LFO the Light Funky Ones. Yes,

(13:43):

tickets will be yours.

Speaker 3 (13:49):
One in five people use a cup holder in their
car for this What is it?

Speaker 2 (13:54):
Eight six, six, nine, two, seven, forty three sixty one
is the number?

Speaker 3 (14:01):
The question is one in five people use the cup
holder in their car for this What is it?

Speaker 2 (14:07):
The Pop two thousand Tour tickets are up for grabs
if you know the answer, maybe you yourself do this
call eight sixty six nine two seven forty three sixty
one guests, guess right and win and we'll all learn
something together. Coming up, it's your nearly impossible question for Friday.

Speaker 1 (14:24):
Tobby and Chilly's nearly impossible question.

Speaker 2 (14:27):
Here's the question again one more time in case you
missed it.

Speaker 3 (14:30):
One in five people use the cup holder in their
car for this What is it?

Speaker 2 (14:35):
Pop two thousand tour tickets up for grabs thanks to
Live Nation. Hey, Brittany and Prince Frederick. Good morning, good morning,
good morning, and welcome. How are things on this Friday? Good?

Speaker 1 (14:46):
They're great, It's a Friday.

Speaker 2 (14:48):
Amen to that, sister. Well, you've got the question. What's
your guests for these Pop two thousands tour tickets?

Speaker 3 (14:55):
I think it's a trash holder. Okay, so you're saying
you put trash in a cup.

Speaker 2 (15:00):
Not a trash can for the car.

Speaker 1 (15:02):
No, I have no trash can. I just bust things
on a cup holder.

Speaker 3 (15:05):
Yes, well, you know Toby and I I believe, are
guilty of the same thing.

Speaker 2 (15:09):
Yes, then the more you put in there, the more
padding it gives for something that you put on top
of it. Let you know, say a cup or whatever.

Speaker 3 (15:17):
Crumpled up her seats are in there.

Speaker 2 (15:19):
Just not a cup holder. It's a trash holder. It's
a thing holder.

Speaker 3 (15:23):
Well, that's an excellent guess, Brittany. It's also the correct answer.
One in five people do use the cup holder for
their trash woho.

Speaker 2 (15:30):
And you know that means now you're going to go
to the Pop two thousand's tour at the Fillmore's Silver
Spring all of the nostalgia fields thanks to Live Nation
with Chris Kirkpatrick Ofvin sinc Otown, BB Mac, Ryan Cabrera
and Moore. It's in June. You should have a great
time there.

that's next week after the weekend. We got the news

seven point one wash.

Speaker 1 (16:31):
FF top stories, top of the hour.

Speaker 3 (16:36):
New Jersey Transit train service has stopped because of a strike.
Trained engineers walked off the job at midnight after a
contract you could not be worked out. A federal hearing
is happening today in the case of Kilmar Abrego Garcia.
He was deported to El Salvador in March on what
they called an administrative error. The Trump administration has been

(16:58):
ordered by the Supreme Court to sacilitate Garcia's return. A

He says discussions are progressing, and he sees the project
as a key part of revitalizing the area. A new
union is forming among employees at the Kennedy Center. Workers
made the announcement yesterday after recent layoffs by the Trump

administration the Washington Capitals they've been eliminated from the playoffs
after falling to the Carolina Hurricanes three to one in
Game five of their best of seven second round series.
Case you don't know. The Preakness Stakes tomorrow at Pimlico
Racecourse in Baltimore, but there will not be Triple Crown

(18:07):
And Walmart announced that because of tariffs, prices on some
food items, electronics, and toys are going up. Consumers can
expect to see price hikes later this month. Forecast for

Speaker 2 (18:27):
When you become a miracle maker, you help to make
stories like this Friday's story that'll bring you all the fields.
It's our feel good Friday story. Happen A Maryland Boy
is the first, the first to have this procedure done.
We'll tell you the procedure, will tell you his story.

(18:47):
It will make you feel good, and then you'll want
to call eight sixty six nine two seven forty three
sixty one so we can send you over to our
friends and Children's National where you can become a miracle
maker and help miracles happen. And just like the one
you're about to hear about, coming up with ninety seven
point one, watch up. If it's a story that gives
you all the fields, it's probably our field. Good story

(19:10):
for this Friday, Toby and Chilly in the morning at
ninety seven point one watch FM. So did you hear
about this amazing surgery at Children's National Hospital in DC.
There's an eleven year old boy named Preston Porter and
he's from Maryland has a serious heart condition. He was
the first kid in the world to get his artificial

(19:33):
heart valve replaced with the living one. It is a
huge medical milestone that they pulled off over at Children's
National Hospital.

Speaker 3 (19:42):
Here's Preston's mom, Lauren. When we first told him that
this was an option, he said, so this means I
could be a normal kid. Here's how the procedure worked.
Preston had an artificial valve in his heart, which is
common but not perfect. But these valves don't grow old
with the kids. They usually need multiple surgeries as a

(20:03):
child gets bigger.

Speaker 2 (20:04):
But the doctors and Children's National, led by doctor Dudeckham,
did something incredible. They performed a partial heart transplant where
they took a living valve from a donor heart and
implanted to replace the artificial one. It's living so it
can grow with him, so it can grow doubly's weight.
It's not natural tissue. You can heal itself.

Speaker 3 (20:25):
Even though the surgery was complex and risky, it went
well and Preston is doing amazing now.

Speaker 2 (20:33):
It feels great knowing that I can have a normal life.
It also feels really cool knowing I can also help
people in the future. It really is amazing to see
how science and medicine are pushing boundaries to give kids
like Preston a better, healthier future. It's even more amazing
for us to know that that's happening just down the

(20:54):
road at Children's National in the nation's capital.

Speaker 3 (20:58):
It's definitely a story that made us feel very good
on this Friday, and hopefully it warmed your heart as well,
and you can read more about it on the Toby
and Chili page at washfm dot com.

Speaker 2 (21:09):
Now, stay with Toby and Chile in the Morning because
in minutes we want to talk with you about this.
Would you rather have a steady paycheck and go on
vacations or have a job where you constantly travel? Where
do you stand? We'll get your take on this coming up.
Eight sixty six nine two seven forty three sixty one

(21:30):
is the number if you want to jump in right
now with Toby and Chile in the Morning. That's on
the web Toby and Chilly in the Morning. The number
is eight six six nine two seven forty three sixty
one here at ninety seven point one. Wash FM Talkback
also works if you're signed into your iHeart app. Just
tap speak, send us a voice note and tell us
what you think about this. So what would you choose?

(21:51):
Would you choose a job where MIT's a nine to
five and you get vacation time, or would you choose
to have a career where you travel all the time
and you're on the road. We bring it up because
there's a study that says, among other things, that people
are choosing passion over a paycheck. Despite lower pay and
less job security, the passion brings joy and fulfillment, thoughts

(22:15):
Chillia Mahar.

Speaker 3 (22:16):
I would rather have a steady gig and take vacation
on my own time, then travel a lot for work.

Speaker 2 (22:23):
I would pack a bag and I would travel all
the time. I would enjoy it. I would enjoy life
on the road. I already enjoy staying in hotels. It's
kind of refreshing to me.

Speaker 3 (22:34):
I think you and I are at different places in
our lives too. I still have a young child in school, sure,
and feel a responsibility to sort of be a little
more stable, whereas your daughter as an adult.

Speaker 2 (22:44):
Now that's right. And if I can travel and globe
trot the world and make money doing it, yes, hopefully
the paycheck is good. Why not? You only live once?
So what do you choose? The stable job with normal
vacation or a job where you can travel all the time.
Look forward to what you have to say. As Toby
and Chilly, the morning continues the news on the way,

(23:05):
Top stories at the top of the hour. Stay with us.

for my job.

Speaker 2 (26:10):
I need to spend time at home with my wife
and kids.

Speaker 3 (26:12):
Elon, that's an excellent point, which is also why I
had said I would rather just take my own vacation
and have a steady gig sable.

Speaker 2 (26:19):
In Crystal City. Would you say it's the same for you?

Speaker 3 (26:22):
Give me the job where I lit out of a
suitcase and forget my zip code.

Speaker 1 (26:26):
I want layovered and.

Speaker 3 (26:27):
Live in meetings in Tokyo and emails sent from rooftop
cafe that sounds an awful lot like Toby, Well, thank
you Sabled by the way for chiming in.

Speaker 2 (26:36):
Yes, that sounds divine to me. Are you kidding me?
I'd be getting paid to be a Globe trotter. I
would say yes, a thousand times.

Speaker 3 (26:44):
Yes, except if I'm in a rooftop cafe. The last
thing I want to do is answer someone's email.

Speaker 2 (26:50):
Well, I mean, you gotta do what you gotta do
to get the bills paid. I mean, come on, if
that meant working from a rooftop cafe, sign me up.
What more?

Speaker 1 (26:58):
Toby and Jilly get over to washfm dot com or
