Emily in Reston thought she met a sweet guy from her church’s childcare center. Harmless, right? Nope. One dinner in, and he storms out—offended that a single mom doesn’t meet his “purity standards.”

Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's Toby and Hilly crazy first.

Speaker 2 (00:02):
Day Emily and rest in. Good morning and welcome. How
are you?

Speaker 1 (00:06):
I am great, how are y'all?

Speaker 2 (00:08):
We're excited to hear your crazy first date stories.

Speaker 1 (00:11):
So I was moved back to the area after a
very messy divorce with my ex husband and went to
my parents' church to visit, and I checked my kids
into the nursery whatever they call the kids center. Afterwards,
one of the guys who had been working in the
kid center with my kids when I went to pick
them up. He and I got to talking and he

(00:32):
asked me out on a date, and I was like,
all right, you know what, let's go for it. Go
on state with this guy. Everything's fine, Silver Diner, great conversation.
At one point, he makes this off handed comment about how,
you know, he feels it's very important to make sure
that whatever woman he ends up marrying is a virgin,
and I laughed, and he looked at me like I

(00:54):
had six heads, and I was like, well, you do
realize that I have two children and I'm divorced. He
stood up and started screaming at me in the middle
of the restaurant and stormed out.

Speaker 2 (01:05):
Wow.

Speaker 3 (01:06):
Wait, I'm so confused, Emily, Yeah, me too. Then what
happens after he leaves?

Speaker 1 (01:12):
So after he leaves, I'm just sitting there kind of
in shock, and the waitress comes over and looks at
me and asks me what happened. So I told her
the story. She then goes and tells her manager they
caught my meal. Gave me a milkshake. I tipped the
lady and sat and talked with her for a little bit,
and then I went home. I don't know if maybe
someone never really gave him the full birds and the Bees.

Speaker 2 (01:35):
Talk or what I mean. I'm sure.

Speaker 4 (01:38):
I'm sure this guy is the most chaste guy anybody's
ever heard of.

Speaker 1 (01:42):
Oh of course, she's never done anything that could possibly
blemish him in the eyes of the Lord. He's a
good Christian man, that's right.

Speaker 4 (01:49):
Quite chassee, quite full of the Lord's goodness, Yes, exactly.
Going on encounter a mom who comes to the kid
center with her children, who is not a virginal, pure
and white like the fresh fallen snow.

Speaker 1 (02:06):
I'm now engaged to an amazing man who is a
wonderful father figure to my children, and I'm.

Speaker 2 (02:13):
Very very happy, and he's okay that you're not a virgin.

Speaker 1 (02:16):
He was able to overlook that extreme transgression and love
you anyway.

Speaker 3 (02:20):
Well, y'all deserve a date night because you shared that
crazy first date story with us. We would love to
send you to go see Rob Thomas at MGM National
Harbor August tenth.
