Speaker 1 (00:04):
Welcome to NFL Daily, where they never stash us on
ir boomerang. I'm Greg Rosenthal and I'm here with Jordan
rod Rieg to recap all the news and transactions that
happen on cutdown Day. All the rosters are down to
fifty three active men. Jordan, not a day that's like

(00:26):
a happy day around the NFL, but it does feel like, okay,
that means the seasons here, that's a good thing.

Speaker 2 (00:34):
Yeah, it's a milestone moment for some. It's a really
hard day for others, and it really just starts everybody's journey,
whether they make the team or not, really starts their
professional journey off in different directions. And my favorite thing
is always by the middle of the season we see
some udfas breaking out right who've made these rosters, or

(00:54):
we've seen guys who got cut and maybe get claimed
by other teams off of waivers, or guys who find
a new home on other teams. It turns out to
be the right place. That's my favorite thing. But I'm
an optimist, Greg, an eternal optimist.

Speaker 1 (01:06):
Yeah, and this is a tough day for you know,
fans of a lot of these players, But like you said,
it doesn't mean it's the end of the road. And
I said, you know, every team's cut down to fifty
three men. That's true. Some even one further. The Lions
only have fifty guys on the roster, which is interesting.
We still don't know, Like as we're taping this, we're

(01:27):
still waiting for I believe it's five teams. These are
the teams of shame right now, the Jets, the Chargers,
the Chiefs, the Ravens, and the Buccaneers. We'll check if
they release their fifty three men roster by the end
of the show. We're taping this three hours after the deadline.
You know, we kept delaying. The show's waiting for. You

(01:48):
think you're better than us, Jets, Ravens, Chargers, Chiefs and Bucks.
You sting get over yourself, Like, just release the names.
The rest of the league's gonna find out. All right,
let's get to it. We're gonna have Eric help me
out here, and he's gonna have to count the number
of nuggets throughout the show because this is going to
be a business like show. Jordan, me and you are
going through I don't like what you said before the

(02:09):
show where you're like, what do you even need me
for here. You're just like going through transactions. You're gonna offer.

Speaker 2 (02:14):
A lot, You're gonna have a transaction, Greg.

Speaker 3 (02:17):
I do love a transaction.

Speaker 1 (02:19):
Although let's just start because it was from Tuesday with
a starting quarterback announcement. Take it away, Kellen Moore.

Speaker 4 (02:26):
Spencer Ratlers our starting quarterback. Really really excited for him.
He's done awesome job this offseason. So he's just been consistent.
He's made some really good decisions throughout this whole entire process,
and you know, his ability to make plays to his
arm and his feet have certainly shown up. And so
I'm really really excited about Spencer. He's earned this opportunity.
He's gonna do a tremendous job for us. At the

(02:47):
same time, we're really really fortunate we got Tyler. Love
the development that he's he's had over the course of
this entire offseason.

Speaker 1 (02:54):
My biggest takeaway with this one, Jordan, is that kell
is doing what he wants to do. I you know,
you do wonder about this organization sometimes is it top
down with Mickey Lewis making all the decisions or is
it bottom up? And you know, Tyler Shuck is the
guy the front office wants to play. I believe he
will play the majority of games, but I do like

(03:17):
that Ultimately, Kellen Moore decided Spencer Ratler looks a little
more ready, was a little more prepared and better in
the preseason and reportedly in the practices, and I'm going
to go with him now because he earned the job
and we'll see where it goes. The odds are obviously
against Spencer Ratler keeping this job into say November, like
October is probably the over under here.

Speaker 2 (03:36):
Yeah, it's I mean, who would be able to tell
you who should be playing quarterback for you to start
the season then a former quarterback who played the game
at a very very high level in Kellen Moore. So
I would hope that they're listening to him on this topic.
And to your point, that's exactly what it looks like
so far. And also, Spencer Ratler is not a rookie.
I know he hasn't played a lot of football, but

(03:57):
he's no longer a rookie. Tyler Shuck still has some
some learning to do, obviously, has to learn how to
prepare for these games in real time situations. And Greg,
I think that while he looked pretty good when we
were at Saints camp. Like good got better as the
day went on. Spencer Rattler has been there. He knows
that the ropes, he knows what he's supposed to do,

(04:17):
and he looked fine. I mean, none of this is great,
but you know, of the choices you had, this seemed
like it would be inevitable, as was the j.

Speaker 1 (04:26):
Hayner cut, right and Ratler, I mean, look, he's younger
than Tyler Shuck.

Speaker 3 (04:31):
Generally, you see a guy.

Speaker 2 (04:32):
That you always love to point out you hate hold prospects.

Speaker 1 (04:35):
Saying in general, you expect the high second round pick
to win the job at quarterbacks sooner in the lander,
but there's not that many quarterbacks that are taken there anymore.
So it's going to be Rattler versus the Cardinals. Good
luck in Week one going up against that Jonathan Gannon defense.
Some interesting cuts there. Isaiah Foski, who we mentioned a
lot of these cuts we kind of previewed in our
Sunday shows with shook over the last handful of weeks.

(04:57):
And then they came to Fruition, a guy that our
friend Adam reported back in the day, Mickey Loomis put
his thumb on the scale and said, no, do not
take Brian Branch, who Jeff Ireland in the front office
reportedly wanted to take.

Speaker 3 (05:12):
You're taking Fosky. He doesn't even make the team in
his third year.

Speaker 1 (05:16):
So that's that's how dysfunctional franchises can stay dysfunctional. Jake
Hayner didn't make the team and your your old friend
Cam Akers.

Speaker 3 (05:23):
Unfortunately that's true.

Speaker 2 (05:25):
Yeah. Cam Akers posted about it too. He said the
NFL is crazy. Ye a day before we are recording this,
so I assume he knew this was coming well before
it actually happened.

Speaker 1 (05:37):
Yeah, it's too bad. He's never quite come back from
from those injuries. Clyde Edwards Hilaire was another guy cut
from the Saints. You just on this, they see a
lot of these names and you're like, oh, yeah, Like
he's still in the league and it's just such a
brutal road with the ninety man roster. The Saints also
traded for a tackle a Seam Richards from the Cowboys
for a late round pick in like twenty twenty eight.

(05:58):
Let's get a big contract the trade. Hendrickson drama is over.
That's happened since we last taped an NFL Daily episode.
He got to raise this season to thirty million dollars.
Any takeaways from this saga ending, Jordan.

Speaker 2 (06:12):
Thank god it's over, you know, I mean, we were
all waiting on the edge of our seat. No, this
was always gonna get figured out. It's just one of
those things where, yes, there's a lot of drama in
the middle, unnecessarily so it seemed like from the part
of the organization and a lot of people going to
the media to share their parts of the story, and
the guarantees were an issue, and now there are questions about,

(06:35):
you know, his long term future, his longer term future
with the team. But he wanted to raise, he got
the raise. He will be playing for the Bengals in
twenty twenty five. After that, It's kind of a little
bit of a gray area there, Greg.

Speaker 1 (06:49):
You know what, as we're taping and I'm checking the website,
breaking news, just as we're taping, not breaking for the
people listening, they have set their fifty three man roster.

Speaker 3 (06:58):
They are no longer on the list of shape.

Speaker 2 (07:00):
We'll have to see if there's anything another reason to
just have a big sigh of relief. Thank god.

Speaker 1 (07:07):
I did think that the structure of the deal and
the Rays was informative, and Paul Daner, your colleague at
the Athletic, kind of confirmed what I was thinking was
the Bengals had never had any interest in signing him
long term period like if if like they just didn't
offer him guaranteed money into the next year.

Speaker 3 (07:24):
This is essentially a one year deal.

Speaker 1 (07:26):
If you listened to Trey Hendrickson's quotes, they're like, I
really realize how much I wanted to stay a Bengal
for the twenty twenty five season. Yeah, that was the quote.
So it's we've seen this with the Bengals before. Jesse
Bates did the exact same thing. It was like a
very obvious this will be your last year with the Bengals,
and they wanted to make it sound publicly like they

(07:47):
wanted to keep him long term. Apparently they had an
offer where the second year of the deal he got
like a ten million dollar pay reduction.

Speaker 3 (07:52):
It's just like, let's be serious.

Speaker 1 (07:55):
That said, I I just wish they would be more
honest about it to Trey hendricks I actually kind of
get it. A thirty thirty one year old pass rusher, like,
at some point you do need to make a change.
They wanted him this year specifically, but just you know,
don't don't give us all the nonsense.

Speaker 2 (08:12):
Yeah, I mean, if you just look at it from
an organizational perspective, if you take out the fact that
it's the Bengals and they do have such a history
of these types of situations unfolding the way that they
have over the last couple of years with contracts, structurally, logically,
it makes sense that you know, he had, I mean,
he had an amazing year, you know, league leading year

(08:34):
in production last season. At his age, there is no
guarantee that that is going to repeat the worth of
a long term extension. So yes, all of this makes sense.
I think the issue is none of the other stuff
had to happen. You know.

Speaker 1 (08:48):
I do appreciate though the raise was a fair raise.
I mean, had he had a sixteen million dollar base
salary goes all the way up to thirty million for
where he is at that that is fair.

Speaker 3 (08:58):
Move along, but good defense. Good before.

Speaker 2 (09:00):
Also, I do want to point out, if you're watching
this on YouTube, I had like a momentary, momentary semi
freak out. I don't know, it's a shadow cross my face. Tucker,
my dog came up very quietly under the table and
put his nose on my knee, and I thought I
was being attacked, like that was gonna die. So that's

(09:20):
that's what that was. If anybody caught that. Sorry, I'm
glad you pointed that out. If anything is going to
boost our YouTube numbers, and yeah, do us a favor.

Speaker 3 (09:29):
We don't ask for too much.

Speaker 1 (09:30):
But if you're listening to this hit that like button subscribe,
it does help grow the show. If anything's going to
grow it, it's some more Tucker. So let's get talk.

Speaker 2 (09:38):
I know, I'm just going to put him in the chair. Actually,
the next time we run through a transaction show like
this or like a book review for example, I'm just
going to put him in the in the seat, just
so he's staring blankly at you as you're rolling through
all of the points to stop it.

Speaker 1 (09:53):
Watch out, Lenny, You're not the only dog on a podcast.
It's not really on the podcast The Raiders. They finally
ended our national nightmare here Jordan, and by.

Speaker 2 (10:04):
Our I mean one of them anyway.

Speaker 1 (10:07):
Yeah, Amari Cooper is back in the NFL. Wow, back
on the Raiders and your list.

Speaker 2 (10:13):
Your list breathes the sigh of relief there, Greg, you
had him pretty high on your on your top free
agents list this offseason.

Speaker 3 (10:20):
Some would recall, well, forget this offseason.

Speaker 1 (10:24):
Every single preseason game on NFL Network for some reason,
they brought the list back and it's just scrolling across
the bottom, and I, you know, I sent I sent
that out on Twitter, being like, it's embarrassing at this point,
it's a personal shame that I just keep seeing Amari
Cooper's name there, and I was shocked because usually you
send something that esoteric and that personal, like four people care.

(10:46):
A million people are like, yeah, we know, bro, it's
pretty embarrassing.

Speaker 3 (10:50):
Bad job by you on the list.

Speaker 1 (10:51):
And I was like, I'm wearing that Cooper was too high,
But who knows, maybe he'll be like their number two receiver.
It wouldn't surprise me. Jacoby Myers won out of Oakland.
I think that's a contract thing. But the Las Vegas
rather not Oakland. The Raiders said no, that we have
no interest in trading you. Sorry, like we're just going
to completely ignore this trade request. He had been wanting

(11:12):
a contract extension. But Amari Cooper comes in there and
you figure like he's actually going to play right away, right,
I guess, I guess replacing Dante Thorton a little bit,
maybe the rookie in the.

Speaker 3 (11:21):
Starting lineup maybe.

Speaker 2 (11:23):
I mean, I don't know how still how much of
a volume share he's going to get, because it looks
like based on even what they showed in the preseason.
Then also what we know kind of about how they
might want to go about, you know, playing this offense
is they're going to run a lot of stuff through
the tight ends. And so brock Bauers is still going
to be the number one, then you're going to sort
of orbit a cast of characters around him. So I

(11:45):
don't know, Yes, I think he's going to play right away,
but I don't think it's going to be like this
needle moving situation for him.

Speaker 3 (11:52):
Good point.

Speaker 1 (11:53):
If I was doing like fantasy shares you used to
have to project like I'm still given Jacobe Meyers more
targets than Amari Cooper, maybe giving Michael Mayer their second
round pick from at tight end from a couple of
years ago and their second tight end more but a
good guy to add to the mix. Also added Kenny
Pickett to the mix. You know here here Today's news

(12:15):
before it happens on Sunday Show. We threw out there
Kenny Pickett to the Raiders. I'm sure the Browns would
give him to the Raiders if the Raiders wanted them
and they got a.

Speaker 3 (12:25):
Fifth round pick for him.

Speaker 1 (12:26):
Somehow, the Browns got the same value in a fifth
round pick that they essentially gave up to get him.

Speaker 3 (12:33):
So I guess that's good business. I don't know.

Speaker 1 (12:36):
I feel like that's a small, small win for the
Cleveland Browns, very small.

Speaker 3 (12:42):
They got nothing out of him too.

Speaker 2 (12:44):
Kenny Pickett's hands sized win. If you're here the Browns,
I feel like it is that was super mean. I
take it back as I show my hand.

Speaker 1 (12:56):
Why why should hand size be like an insult? Why
should any size be an insult. It's like sometimes when
people are like you know, oh yeah, like you know,
it's like some somehow like height is brought up and
someone's brought up as short or whatever.

Speaker 3 (13:09):
They're like, oh, sorry about that.

Speaker 1 (13:11):
Why would I take a fence, you know, why would
even you take a fence at small hands?

Speaker 3 (13:16):
Like, small hands are just as good as big hands.

Speaker 2 (13:19):
If you're a quarterback, you need larger hands to hold
onto the football. Greg this isn't about you that you
don't internalize this insult. You know, like, this is not
about your.

Speaker 1 (13:27):
Gofs made it happen, except for you know, when it
has like a little bit of moisture in the.

Speaker 2 (13:31):
Air, except for like all the fumbles over time.

Speaker 1 (13:35):
You know this, look at all you're adding to the show.
They cut their Tom Brady pick cam Miller. This has
been on my radar that like cam Miller was that
tom Brady approved quarterback, but they traded him to get
Kenny Pickett. And for those just joining, Aidan O'Connell was hurt.
So the Raiders are one of the teams of shame

(13:57):
that haven't put their transactions. But I would assume ad
O'Connell's going on short term my r in, Kenny Pickett
is there, and cam Miller.

Speaker 3 (14:04):
Will likely be on the practice squad.

Speaker 1 (14:06):
The Texans had a lot of transactions that really matter
that had nothing to do with the cuts. So we
did get clarity Jordan on Joe Mixon to the reserve
NFI list out at least four weeks. Some mystery there
what's going on? And Denico Autri to the pup list.
So a lot of guys that they thought were going

(14:27):
to have big parts of their roster this year. Three
starters really and gone for various reasons, for various amounts
of time.

Speaker 2 (14:36):
This is a team that's kind of showing us that
they really want to throw the ball a lot right away,
and that they might have to throw the ball a
lot right away, and so, you know, I think they've
got the receivers to do it, and they certainly have
the quarterback. I just everything is sort of moot if
they can't protect so, you know, mix in not being
able to stabilize things, especially early on, that looms large

(14:59):
early in this He isn't for them.

Speaker 1 (15:01):
I mean, I wouldn't be shocked if, you know, he
doesn't play this season, just from the sound of it.
I wouldn't be shocked if he's back in Week six either.
I just sometimes you get a feeling with these situations
when just the drip drip drip of info is coming
out and it never sounds good. He's on the NFI list,
which means they can go after his money. Why is
he on that list? It they're setbacks. It's confusing. It's

(15:23):
I don't know the fact that they're you know, trying
to win a title and you know, Nick Chubb and
Damian Pierce are they're leading running backs.

Speaker 3 (15:29):
They want to run the ball a lot. It's it's
a little concerning there.

Speaker 1 (15:32):
They also cut the guy Harris and Bryant the tight
end that they traded John Metchi for last week.

Speaker 3 (15:39):
So everybody say it with me how he did it again.
I didn't really think you would say it with me,
but it would have been nice.

Speaker 2 (15:48):
You know, you never knew, well, I know it wasn't
in the Rundown, so I'm not really sure what you
were referring to. But yeah, that's just it.

Speaker 3 (15:54):
That's his info.

Speaker 1 (15:55):
You can you can go off and improv, you can
freestyle Trenton Brown, I was in Rundown.

Speaker 3 (16:00):
I didn't mention that he.

Speaker 1 (16:01):
Got cut, by the way former forty nine ers and
Bengal and Patriot.

Speaker 2 (16:06):
Anytime that somebody gets cut very quickly after agreeing to
terms or being involved in some sort of a trade situation.
I have the Simpsons jiff stuck in my head where
the guy walks in the door, takes his hat off,
then puts his hat back on, spins around and walks out.
That's basically what Harrison Bryant just did in Houston.

Speaker 1 (16:23):
I hate that that happens all the time. Like you
see these guys that just got cut, just got signed
last week, and then they're cut again or acquired. A
lot of times those guys end up on a practice squad.
So wouldn't surprise me if Harris and Bryant ad some
depth there. The Browns cut Dustin Hopkins, which means that
Andre Smitt. How do you say it's s z y mt.

(16:47):
One of the best last names.

Speaker 2 (16:50):
Is that a Schmidt?

Speaker 1 (16:51):
Maybe right, one of the best last names on a uniform.
I would buy that uniform s z y Mt. He's
the he's the kicker. They also cut Deontay Johnson, who
I went back and look. Talk about bad free agency rankings.
I do want in August every year, just coming out
later this week, by the way, like a.

Speaker 3 (17:12):
Preview, little early top thirty or something.

Speaker 1 (17:16):
And Deontay Johnson was in my top twenty last year
at this point and he has been on I think
three team since or four team since.

Speaker 3 (17:24):
It's crazy.

Speaker 2 (17:25):
So would you say you're the good luck charm or.

Speaker 5 (17:27):
The bad luck charm in this The rest of the
list look good, but man, he had almost five thousand
yards in the first six years of his career and
he's been cut now by or dumped essentially by like
four teams in the span of eighteen months.

Speaker 3 (17:43):
It's rough.

Speaker 1 (17:44):
And I did want to listen to Kevin Stefanski who
talked about Dylan Gabriel, who won officially the backup job
over Shador Sanders with Kenny Pickett now in Las Vegas.

Speaker 6 (17:57):
It's such a all encompassing value, so everything the guys
did in the games was important. We also saw a
lot of them out here in practice and how they are,
you know, at their craft, and he's certainly somebody that
we think is getting better and better.

Speaker 1 (18:13):
Do you have any hot rounds quarterback takes. I feel
like I've said anything I have to say on this one.

Speaker 2 (18:18):
No, and I feel like the world needs less hot
rounds quarterback takes to be honest with you, but I
will say, I mean it was pretty clear you draft
a guy in the third round you're really hoping he's
going to be your backup quarterback. I mean it's like,
you know, circle gets the square one plus one equals
to you know, that's kind of what this is always
trending this way, And I am very high on Shore
Sanders as a long term player in this league, and

(18:42):
certainly people will be watching breathlessly to see his every
move and his development. Still, but if you draft a
guy in the third round and you know you have
Joe Flacco and you need to find a backup, that
is your third round pick is probably going to be
your backup, you know.

Speaker 1 (18:59):
Right, Him playing well really mattered in that sense. I
think they would have traded Kenny Picket regardless. Yeah, but
it had to give them more confidence. I also don't
think the Kenny Pickett trade was like necessarily destined to happen.
That was a unique situation where the Raiders were kind
of crazy desperate for some reason, a little overly desperate, and.

Speaker 2 (19:19):
Because their backup broke his wrist or something similar to it.
So of course, you know, finds.

Speaker 1 (19:24):
Like I'd rather have Tommy DeVito for nothing then give
a fifth round pick for Kenny Pickett person.

Speaker 2 (19:29):
But I can understand. But I can understand if you
look at the sequencing of how these events happened, the
Raiders are trying to not get to the point where
they're waiting long enough to compete with anyone else for
a potential trade. If someone else decides okay, we actually
want to bring in Kenny Pickett. So it's like, all right,
move faster than the other people do, even if you're
moving a little fat, like, even if you look desperate,
because you kind of are. You need this player, you know,

(19:51):
behind Geno Smith on your on your roster, you need
somebody there.

Speaker 1 (19:55):
He'll be there week one in Foxborough as the backup
snap away from my guy, Gino Smith in case he
got hurt. The Falcons announced on Tuesday Caleb McGarry, the
right tackle, is out for the season. That comes to
the surprise. We had no idea how hurt he was,
and that's.

Speaker 3 (20:14):
How hurt he is.

Speaker 2 (20:15):
Yeah, and by the way, he's the right tackle, and
Mike Pennix is a left handed quarterback, so he is
the blind side protector for Mike Pennix and also his backup.
Storm Norton, great name, is a swing tackle, is also hurt.
So it's like Elijah Wilkinson, who reporters were saying was
at practice last week at right tackle. He's a veteran.

(20:38):
They also are trying. It seems like they're in the market.
They made a trade with Seattle for a sort of
a depth guy too. But this is this is not great.
This is really tough. It is six to eight weeks
for Storm Norton and the full season for Caleb McGarry.
That's not great.

Speaker 1 (20:56):
That is brutal and one of the bigger, a little
you know, bigger items to come out today, just in
terms of like impacting the teams when lost total and
great perspective there on the blind side, you know, on
the right tackle.

Speaker 2 (21:09):
I was a person who did an entire in depth
story about field spacing for left handed quarterbacks because I
am a true sicko. So I definitely have I have
even more to share, should you want it. I hope
you don't, but I do.

Speaker 3 (21:22):
I want it.

Speaker 1 (21:23):
Eric, I hope you're keeping track, you know, of all
the nuggets that we can put in a number at
the front of this show. But I will point out,
like I did leave some things on the cutting room floor.
You mentioned that tackle going to the Falcons. There had
to been like seven tackles that I wasn't overly familiar
with that got just traded around today for like seventh
round conditional bicks Winston went to the brown right from.

Speaker 3 (21:47):
The rams right.

Speaker 1 (21:49):
Yeah, I left those on the cutting room floor. Those
if those matter in the long run, we'll see if
it's your.

Speaker 3 (21:55):
Team, I'm sure you know.

Speaker 1 (21:56):
Anyways, speaking of teams that we follow close, the New
England Patriots, after all the honking by me all training camp,
kept Kyle Duggar, their safety kept and Forredin Jennings their
defensive end kept Kendrick Born.

Speaker 3 (22:11):
I think these are all for now.

Speaker 1 (22:13):
I wouldn't be surprised if any of those changed in
the next few days. So all these situations are fluid,
but they all are on the roster. They cut Cole Strange,
who was a first round pick a couple of years
ago by Bill Belichick that everyone made fun of. Looks
like everyone aka the consensus board was right there. Marcus Apps,
who's played a lot of football at safety, got caught.

(22:33):
Braden Swinson, who was a fifth round pick a lot
of people like, did not make the team.

Speaker 3 (22:37):
He could.

Speaker 1 (22:38):
He's someone actually I think could get claimed by another team.
And then their rookie kicker Andy Brialis won the job,
even though it seems like he didn't win the job,
they just gave it to him because he was the
draft pick.

Speaker 2 (22:50):
There are some great kicker names out there this year,
you know, like.

Speaker 1 (22:54):
Fefton Chishim another great name. We just took it for
granted that he made the team, by the way, but
he made the team along with Javi.

Speaker 2 (23:00):
I know. I told you this back when I was
at Vikings Patriots joint practices. I was like, I, this
guy's making the team. I mean, there's I don't have
a question about it. The way they were using him
first and second team reps very very clear. I don't
know how much he's going to play right away or
at all this year, but definitely definitely a guy who
was making that team.

Speaker 1 (23:18):
See if they trade Kendrick Bourne, I yeah, I don't
think Josh McDaniels can can resist.

Speaker 3 (23:24):
He's got to put him out there. Let's take a
quick break.

Speaker 1 (23:27):
We'll get an update if any of the Teams of
Shame have have come off the list.

Speaker 3 (23:31):
In what number nugget we are at right now? Back
in a.

Speaker 1 (23:35):
Minute, back on NFL Daily, A lot of controversy kind
to total out these nuggets.

Speaker 3 (23:52):
Eric had roughly thirteen.

Speaker 2 (23:55):
Jordan, what did you have like thirty something?

Speaker 3 (23:58):
Thirty something?

Speaker 1 (23:59):
So streets are talking that this might not be an
exact number. That's very worrisome, But the exact number of
teams on the list of shame remained the same. I
checked during the break still six Ravens, Chargers, Chiefs, Bucks.

Speaker 3 (24:18):
That's five. I'm not good at adding.

Speaker 1 (24:22):
Let's fire through the rest of these nuggets, and it's
a day that Eric wants to be over.

Speaker 3 (24:27):
We kept him late.

Speaker 1 (24:29):
He also finds it very annoying that all the insiders
act like it's such a big deal that they had
like exclusively report that, like the seventy fourth guy on
the Titans got cut, which you know, it's just part
of the game. But I could see how Eric would
find it annoying. On a hot Los Angeles state out Denver,
Broncos they cut Audric estimate. That was the interesting one there.

(24:52):
They do have a nice deep roster. I was expecting
to see some fireworks with the Broncos. I thought maybe
there'd be some trades, but there really wasn't. It was
pretty quiet. Let's go to the of Bills because that's
too quiet. Maxwell Harriston, their first round pick went to
injured reserve. So the rules for that, if we haven't
been clear on, that means they have to miss at
least the first four weeks of the season. Each team
has a certain amount of guys they can designate to

(25:13):
return every year. I believe it's eight now, right, and
you can do two at this time of year.

Speaker 3 (25:20):
Why are you laughing?

Speaker 2 (25:21):
I'm sorry. I'm in the Google doc and I'm seeing
Eric is passive, aggressively writing numbers next to all the things. Now,
it's good because he wants to be right about the count.
That's amazing.

Speaker 3 (25:33):
Oh my god.

Speaker 1 (25:34):
Maybe he's just trying to be a pro. I appreciate
that he's he's showing his work. Okay, you're you're out
for the Bills. Michael Hoyt Larry oganjoin Obie to the
suspended list. They cut Mike White he didn't make the team.
Frank or Junior who had some good numbers, and you know,
I want that guy to make it will probably be
hitting year three on the practice squad.

Speaker 3 (25:55):
But man, they are.

Speaker 1 (25:56):
They are thin in their defensive backfield with Hair than
Now out for at least four weeks, and Tyrol Shavers
made the team.

Speaker 3 (26:05):
You know, Eric's gotta like that.

Speaker 2 (26:08):
Yeah, I mean we kind of knew too that this
was coming up front for them. It seemed like the
Bills signed both of these guys, Mike hoy and Larryogan
Jobi like maybe without knowing that this was coming, because
I don't know why you would do that if you
knew that these guys were going to be suspended for
that long. That's significant. I am concerned about this defense overall.
I'm concerned about how they start the season. They're going

(26:31):
to have to score a lot of points early. And
there was also some chatter. It was interesting, you know,
they even addressed it locally a little bit earlier this
week or last week, late last week, a little bit
of like Curtis Samuel chatter too, just trying to figure
out if maybe he was somebody who was tradable for them.
So I still kind of have my eye on that
as these teams try to figure out what they've got
or don't have at receiver.

Speaker 1 (26:52):
Good call to me, he would be very tradable. I
think he would help teams out there. And good thing
for the Bills was he actually got healthy just in
time to practice and the injury is no longer a
concern over the last week, So good call on that one.
The Bucks cut Kyle Trask. The quarterback controversy is over.

(27:13):
Teddy Bridgewater wins Kyle Trask. I think a second round pick.
I would argue, though, even though he never played, if
you got him to be your backup quarterback for three years,
including like a Super Bowl championship year, that's actually a
fine news. Backup quarterbacks are worth that much. They also
cut Trey Palmer, who had a lot of touchdowns for
them just a year ago, and the Panthers cut Hunter

(27:37):
renfro and your boy Adam Thielen still remains on the roster.

Speaker 3 (27:41):
Do you think he will stay there?

Speaker 2 (27:43):
Why has he become Why is Adam feel Why am
I claiming Adam feeling just.

Speaker 3 (27:48):
Feels like a guy that would be your boy. Minnesota
in general.

Speaker 2 (27:51):
It's just been like pretty skeptical of that receiving corps
for a while. So I don't know why this is
a fit, but yeah, it's interesting. There's been some like
batting messaging being leaked slash shared across the Insider network
over the last couple of days and versus what people
are saying locally about you know, whether he is also

(28:15):
into the idea of a trade and the communication of
he wants to he would be open to it, but hey,
the price is too high or you know, those kinds
of things, And I just I find that to be
a little like wearisome. If I'm if I'm the Panthers
and so and so, I think, you know, just just
shut it down, honestly. I mean they've got to talk

(28:37):
after these cutdowns and all this stuff. I'm Dan Morgan,
I just get up there and shut it down.

Speaker 1 (28:41):
My guess, because I think he wanted a raise at
one point, is just he wants if he's gonna bother
to move, he wants a bump, a good bump. And
I'm sure in Minnesota is not willing to give him
the money.

Speaker 3 (28:56):
That he wants.

Speaker 1 (28:57):
But if they're for this much smoked happened, there's clearly
interest on both sides.

Speaker 2 (29:02):
Oh yeah, Minnesota has a need. I mean they he
would fit right back into a system. He knows like
they have a need at receiver. With some of their
guys hurt right now, it makes so much sense, It
makes so much sense in fact, that it's a perfect
time to ask for a pay bump, you know, like
that's that's where we're at with this.

Speaker 1 (29:18):
I think, Yeah, like with Jordan Addison suspended, their their
wide receiver too is Jalen Naylor.

Speaker 2 (29:24):
And then and he's been hurt he's been hurt.

Speaker 1 (29:27):
Tye Felton, who hasn't been great the rookie, and yeah,
I think I think they kind of need Adam Thlin
plus it they'd be more fun to watch. I was
bummed to see Robert Woods cut from the Steelers. Might
be the end of the road for a very good
player over the years with the Rams, of course, the
Bills to start out Texans. They also cut Chuck Clark,
who was brought in to maybe play some big snaps

(29:49):
for them at safety, Beanie Bishop who I think at
four interceptions as a rookie and and is now not
on the team, James Pierre. So actually, some pretty worthwhile
names cut by the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Speaker 2 (30:01):
Feels like at least a couple of those guys are
practice squad candidates too, you know. I mean Robert Woods
because of his just intrinsic knowledge and ability to just
sort of slot in and blocking help pretty much anywhere
you put him, seems like he would be a viable
I mean, I wouldn't rule him out if you're looking
at waiver claims and whatnot. He's someone who I would
feel like Minnesota may have some interest in, not because

(30:24):
he's going to go be your one, two or three
once your healthy guys get back. But because he can
help you, and he knows Kevin O'Connell and kind of
knows that system.

Speaker 3 (30:31):
Good calls. As like, I'm.

Speaker 2 (30:33):
Noting in that, I'm noting that these are none of
these little additions are counting as nuggets. I would put
personally count them that way. I'm not doing.

Speaker 1 (30:41):
I think I'm just noticing, Like, if you're breaking that down,
I think the cutting of the renfro and then the
feeling analysis is two different nuggets because I think they're
a little separate.

Speaker 3 (30:53):
I think they're separate.

Speaker 2 (30:55):
I'm noting in the dock now. Thank you, Eric, thank
you for seeing me. I appreciate it.

Speaker 1 (31:00):
The Cowboys put one of our favorite camp guys, Film Maffa,
on injured reserve so he could be back during the season.
Rookie running back, and then their veteran running backs. It
looks like all made the team, at least for now.
Miles Sanders, Davonte Williams, Travon Diggs is fully practicing. We
mentioned that he was activated, but he's talking up potentially

(31:20):
being available for Week one. We'll see, but even that
he's talking that way, is positive. Let's listen to a
less positive storyline. Courtesy of coach Brian Schottenheim. Were talking
about Michael Parsons.

Speaker 7 (31:33):
Mike and I had a long conversation, probably talk for
an hour about a lot of different things and addressed
a number of different issues and things like that. And
at this point I'm going to keep that between he
and I, but we had a we had a very
very good conversation.

Speaker 1 (31:48):
An hour, and so it goes that's like Jordan rod Rieg,
Greg Rosenthal post show call or something. I mean, he
thought it'd be hours a long time for a head
coach to just be doing that conversation.

Speaker 2 (32:01):
I know, and I all of these whenever coaches say
stuff like this and this situation particularly, but like over
the history of the modern you know, holdouts of our league,
when coaches get up and say this, I so wish
we could know, Like what really are they talking about?
Like how much of that time is small talk? How
much of that time is checking on your family? Is

(32:22):
there any part of that that's spent trying to convince
somebody of something they don't want to be convinced of.
How much of that is spent talking about other things?
I mean that's like you're not sitting there repeating could
you please? Could you please come back to practice? Could
you please come back to practice? Like you're just you're
not just doing that. I mean, I don't know. Hey man,
we got new hit dummies. You'd really like them. I

(32:43):
promise you know, what are we doing here?

Speaker 3 (32:45):
And do that at all?

Speaker 1 (32:46):
Because you know, he knows he hopes that Michael Barrs
is going to be on this team, and he just
wants their connection to be great.

Speaker 3 (32:52):
So it's got to be a soft cell of just
of just caring.

Speaker 1 (32:56):
About him as a human and maybe maybe not talking
about that, like seeing it if he's sleeping enough at night,
if he needs that nap on the trainer's table, that's
a little worrisome.

Speaker 2 (33:04):
You know, it's just your typical food coma. You know
who among us has not needed a quick snooze, a
quick power nap after eating some nachos.

Speaker 8 (33:13):
You know.

Speaker 1 (33:14):
The Lions, they're not afraid to be different. They've got
only fifty players mentioned that up top. That seems weird
to me. Obviously they're going to add three more players.
They're not gonna this isn't like the new analytics that
just have less players, but they only have three edge
players I noticed on the roster, and one of them
is a starter, Marcus Davenport, who's been available for a
total of six games over the last two years. So

(33:37):
it's a little worrisome. They cut Hendon Hooker, which we
saw coming. They cut Dan Skipper, one of my favorites,
which I did not see coming. And they have a
lot of guys on pup or NFI out at the
beginning of the season, especially on defense, Josh Pascal, Ale
McNeil so that those are both defensive linemen. And then
Malcolm Rodrigo Malcolm Rodriguez one Rodrigo from Hard Knocks a

(34:01):
couple of years ago. So yeah, just a little shorthanded.
It was just a reminder. Oh they even though it
felt like they didn't get that hurt in the training camp,
they are missing more players than most teams.

Speaker 2 (34:11):
I wonder what they're cooking up too, because it's not
like you know, I mean, it just feels like they're looking.
They're going to be somewhat a team that they're not
super high on waivers obviously, but might be looking. There
might be a team that's looking to make some trades.
I mean, they're so they're so competition ready, like they're
so ready to be a strong team right out of
the gate that you're just sort of picking and pruning.

(34:33):
But it is interesting. I wonder how many people across
the league and other buildings are like, what are they
doing only fifty players? Is this something new? That? Because
the Lions are now sort of setting their own tone
and a lot of different team building methods. So I
was like, oh, what is this new thing?

Speaker 8 (34:49):
Now?

Speaker 2 (34:49):
What are they doing? Doesn't mean anything? No, it doesn't
mean anything. They're going to add three more players, I.

Speaker 3 (34:53):
Know I have. I have seen it before, like with
like fifty.

Speaker 2 (34:57):
Two or fifty one, fifty two.

Speaker 1 (35:00):
Fifty one, never seen the fifty You made me think like, oh, yeah,
who would they sign?

Speaker 3 (35:05):
There are some people out there.

Speaker 1 (35:07):
Zadarius Smith is not on a team right now, so
that would not surprise me at all bringing him back
because he was pretty good for them last year.

Speaker 3 (35:17):
Jadavian Clowney not on a team at all.

Speaker 1 (35:18):
Both feel like they could be Lions, but Zadarius Smith
literally was a Lion, so that seems more likely. Let's
go to the Eagles who cut Kenyon Green, who they
traded for in the Chauncey Gardner Johnson trade, former first
round pick of the Texans, Kendall Lamb, who I thought
was a good pickup for them. Nikobe Dean is going
to the pup list, and Fred Johnson, their swing tackle

(35:41):
from a year ago, was brought back in a trade.
Another one of those tackles. They brought him back from
the Jaguars. Unfortunately, you're first guy you mentioned in some
show this offseason, Terrorist Marshall did not make the Eagles.

Speaker 2 (35:56):
Yes, you texted me how early should we talk about
this today? Because I know you just really really wanted
to rub it in just a little bit. Okay, if
this was going to work, this was going to be
the team that it works with. That's that's what I'll stand.

Speaker 1 (36:08):
By that I didn't want to rub it in because
you're not rooting against a guy or one of your teams.

Speaker 2 (36:13):
No, No, you're rooting against me.

Speaker 3 (36:16):
No, I wasn't. I wasn't.

Speaker 1 (36:18):
I think our friend bo Wolf pointed it out. You know,
even after that show like, oh, it's interesting Jordan led
with Tis Marshall pop. I don't even remember what we
were talking about.

Speaker 2 (36:27):
Yeah, I don't remember what we were talking about. It
was like something like similar to I can fix him where.
It's like it could this actually work? Could they actually
find a diamond in the rough kind of thing and
new faces, new places. This is a guy with traits
and skill, and I'm like looking at the Eagles and
I'm like, if anyone can do it, Howie and co

(36:47):
can do it? And they couldn't.

Speaker 1 (36:49):
So what happens Jordan when you're on you know, we
bumped it up. It was getting to like twice a
week in the off season. Now you're three times a week.
It was just there's the history is rich.

Speaker 3 (37:01):
The Seahawks. Two fullbacks made the team. Immediately.

Speaker 1 (37:04):
One Seahawks fan was like, well one of them, I
forget which one. He's really a tight end, but they
list him as a fullback for marketing.

Speaker 3 (37:10):
Well, if that's.

Speaker 5 (37:12):
True, it works marketing, they should marketing.

Speaker 2 (37:16):
That's incredible. Oh my gosh, Okay. I love this watching
their preseason games because they actually showed more of what
they want, especially when the first team was in. They
showed more of what they actually want to do with
this offense and what Clint Kubiak wants to do with
this offense. I'm trying to temper my feelings about this,
but I'm low key kind of fired up about this.
I love the fact that they're playing Gary Kubiak ball

(37:39):
with a full back. They're playing, they're looking, they're trying.
What they're trying to be is like twenty nineteen Kyle
Shanahan twenty one personnel, Like we're going to run through
your face kind of people. I still don't know if
they can pass protect, we'll see, but like they they've
got some dudes to help them chop away in this

(38:00):
run game. And I really like it, and I like
the fact that they're using fullbacks, and I think that
is an important thing to be doing in the modern
cycle of what we're watching in the league.

Speaker 1 (38:08):
It's crazy, like everything old it is new again. I
just you see these fifty three man rosters. You've done
it enough times and we had gotten to the point
where there's only like eight to ten.

Speaker 3 (38:17):
Total fullbacks left in the league.

Speaker 1 (38:19):
And so I don't know how long it's been since
I've seen two on the same team. It's got to
be at least a decade. The Patriots would carry two
some back in the day, but it's been a while.

Speaker 3 (38:28):
Unfortunately.

Speaker 1 (38:29):
Marcus Valdiscanting I think is going to win the competition
that only exists in my head that I keep track
of every year at this time, which is what front
office gave away the most guaranteed money to a guy
that didn't make the team. And I think it's probably
Marcus Valdez scanting right now for three million dollars because
it's no slight to MVS. He got that that money's guaranteed.

(38:50):
He's getting that money, but obviously not something you want
to do. It's just like burning three million dollars. So
next time you hear about like, oh, quarterbacks cost too
much money, this that it's like teams make mistakes in
the middle and the bottom of the depth start so much.
That's like, don't don't worry about the quarterbacks too much.
That's that's my take. I got some breaking news, Jordan.

(39:15):
The Kansas City Chiefs have announced their fifty three man roster.

Speaker 2 (39:18):
They are off the list, off the shamelesstoo oh man.
They're having a big they're having a big day, you know.

Speaker 3 (39:24):
Now down to the Chargers.

Speaker 1 (39:25):
That's right, you know, congratulations to to Travis Kelce and
Taylor Swift and by the way, great analysis. We've given
them some pop here, But when Travis Kelcey and Taylor
Swift did their podcast together, I didn't personally have the

(39:48):
desire to invest like that much time in it. But
no judgment on those who would, but I would much
rather listen to the sports gossip shows, like fifty five
minute recap of that too hour and twenty minute conversation,
then the actual conversation, so that everything that you want
you can you can go right there right now.

Speaker 2 (40:05):
You're colleagues at the Athletic Yeah, and I'm I'm super
stoked on that sports gossip show. I turned you onto them,
and I am there like my happy place listening show.
To be honest with you, it's.

Speaker 1 (40:15):
Pretty greatame same, I really like it. No, you know,
I was trying to read while you were talking, but
you know, I wanted.

Speaker 3 (40:22):
To pay attention if I had a nickel.

Speaker 1 (40:24):
The Seahawks stuff, but we knew Taekwon Thornton was going
to make the team. We knew, you know, Juju smith
Susher was going to make the team. I didn't see
many surprises with the Chiefs, but a couple veterans Mike Pennell,
who's played a lot for them, including in the Super
Bowl last year, was cut. Mike Edwards, the safety who's
also played a lot for them, was cut as well.
Let's move on to the Cardinals. No surprise, they put

(40:47):
their defensive lineman Walter Nolan, Ballal Nichols, and bij Ojalari
all on the pup list, so they are out for
at least the first four games of the season. The
forty nine Ers also put Brandon Ayuk and safety Mike
Mustafa on the pup list.

Speaker 3 (41:02):
They will be out for the first four games of
the season.

Speaker 2 (41:05):
Yeah, the really thin still forty nine Ers. They're staying
that way. Juwan Jennings's situation has shown no signs of resolving.
Kyle Shanahan said he's expecting him to be ready for
Week one. He has a practice, so I don't know
how ready you could possibly be. So this is something
where I would expect them to I mean, they made
it with Sky Moore, right, I would expect them to

(41:26):
at least make another move before this week is up.

Speaker 1 (41:29):
Yes, because they cut a lot of their depth guys.
I think some of the younger players they're hopeful could
be ready for Week one, but if not, then they're
going to have to get some guys in the building,
they could be someone that makes a trade here. I
did see almost like a threat from the team which
seemed wild from Tim Kawakami in a written piece that

(41:52):
they could go with a nuclear option and put Ayuk
on the IR or NF lists to start the season.
So that and you know, like they just wouldn't let
him play, almost calling his bluff that he's.

Speaker 3 (42:07):
Not really hurt. Well if.

Speaker 1 (42:10):
Jennings Juan Jennings, Yes, sorry, Jwon Jennings, I'm sorry, Yeah.

Speaker 2 (42:13):
That's crazy. I saw Kala Kami saying too that they
could they could trade him. I mean, that's like all
of this is. I mean, we he's pretty plugged in
over there to that, to that coaching staff in that
front office. So this being floated a little bit. I'm like,
oh man, this is escalating a little bit here.

Speaker 1 (42:29):
But you know, if you're Juwan Jennings's agent, the BS
detector is so easy to read. When I read that,
I was like, there's no chance I would There's zero
point zero chance that they would put a guy on
injured reserve like that. They're just throwing it out there
as a threat. It's dirty business. My son's favorite player. Yes,
reset the you know, shows since Walker Rosenthal has been

(42:52):
mentioned meter.

Speaker 3 (42:53):
Back to zero.

Speaker 1 (42:56):
His favorite new player in the entire NFL is Marlo Wax.
I mean Marlo Wax, the linebacker on the Chargers who
balled out in this preseason game we went to and
then was outrageous in their third preseason game made the team.
So I am very excited. We were following this. We
actually don't know this from the Chargers. We only know
this from Marlo Wax on Twitter where he said thank

(43:16):
you God. And I'm taking that as confirmation that my
guy made the team. I want everyone who listens to
NFL daily to track Marlo Wax's entire career from the beginning.

Speaker 3 (43:26):
We're doing it.

Speaker 2 (43:28):
I mean, what if it wasn't. What if he was
released and was like, I'm gonna go find another team,
thank you God. What if it was that.

Speaker 1 (43:36):
This is a pretty big risk that we're taking here.
But it's the Chargers own fault. You did this to yourself.
You haven't, You're still on the list of shame. The
Bears activated their cornerback Jalen Johnson, and so that's good news.
They're at least hopeful that he'll be back at some
point early in the season, they cut a twenty twenty
three third rounder, Zach Pickens, at defensive tackle, and then
I noticed TJ. Edwards, their linebacker, was heard at practice

(43:59):
this week I think today Tuesday. So that's something just
to keep an eye on. Case Keenum made.

Speaker 2 (44:04):
A roster I mean twenty twenty five.

Speaker 1 (44:08):
I know, Like that's cool. I clearly they value his
experience and ability to help those guys out.

Speaker 2 (44:17):
He's like in also kind of a quarterbacks coach adjacent
role in that room, Like he is very much taken
on talking to people over there, taking on the mentorship role,
the preparing for X, Y and Z. You have to remember,
I mean Caleb Williams himself said he wasn't doing any
of this, didn't even know how to do any of

(44:37):
this in the NFL from what happened last season, and
so resetting and really building in you know, Case Keen.
Not many more players are more tenured at preparing for
game weeks, whether as the starter or the backup, than
Case Keenum is. And all of that entails start to
finish for a quarterback.

Speaker 3 (44:55):
It's awesome.

Speaker 1 (44:56):
And he really is the dude Joshua Cown the like
slash quarterback because they got. They just gave their backup
Tyson Bagent, a new contract right before. He had one
of the best preseasons of any quarterback out there. And
that's a cool and young quarterback room. You could tell
Ben Jhonson really likes Tyson Bagent, which is interesting. If
they ever needed to use him, I think he'd be

(45:19):
pretty good in that offense. All right, let's just fly
through some of these. The Giants cut Tommy DeVito. I
think he'll end up on a roster. If not, I'm
sure he'll be on that practice squad. The Commander's cut
some notable wide receivers kJ Osborne, Michael Gallup, you know
former Raiders top pick, the defensive lineman Cleveland Ferrell. They
placed Sam Cosmy. They're all pro guard on the pup list.

(45:40):
And I just wanted to shout out Josh Johnson. Class
of two thousand and eight draft pick Josh Johnson, still
in the NFL, made a roster again. Only three players
from the two thousand and eight class are on a team.
Were you tracking my social enough to know I already
tweeted about this, because don't look, I want you to

(46:00):
try to guess who they are.

Speaker 3 (46:01):
If you haven't seen it.

Speaker 2 (46:02):
I did see it, I don't remember who it is.
I have notifications on for you, Greg, because you're an important.

Speaker 1 (46:07):
And that's my sane behavior to have notifications on for
literally anyone on Twitter, I think, but especially me.

Speaker 2 (46:16):
You're an important person in my life. I don't like
to scroll, so I like to just see what you're
talking about, you know, without having to scroll through that
hilacious website every day.

Speaker 1 (46:24):
And what if I'm like half the time it's like, oh,
Petri Kavitt of a congratulations on her retirement.

Speaker 2 (46:31):
You know, you know, you know, it's kind of crazy.
I actually view you as a complete person, so I'm
interested in the things you're interested in. Also, you know,
like i'm your friend, so like I'm interested in like
your hobbies and your life. And I know that's crazy.
I know that's crazy concept for you there, Greg, But
you know I am.

Speaker 1 (46:49):
You're interested in women's professional tennis that much. They just
want the analysis. Although the US Open is going.

Speaker 2 (46:55):
It's a great time if you're a bird. I'm a bird. Greg.

Speaker 3 (46:58):
That's like the nicest thing you've ever said it to me.
That's very nice.

Speaker 1 (47:01):
MALICKI Corley was cut by the Jets. We've been talking
about that on the Sunday night shows. The Packers cut
Isaiah Simmons, Mikol Hardman. They put Christian Watson on pup
their backup running back, Marshawn Lloyd is going to injured
reserve Isaiah Simmons. Simmons, you said to me over text,
kind of the ultimate I can fix some guy. Unfortunately,
he's the face of I can fix him defensive. Yeah,

(47:24):
it just it just hasn't happened for him. I remember,
you know our friend, you know, Chris Westling, had a
long fascination. Can someone figure out how to get Isaiah
Simmons going? Sean McVay, I thought this was interesting, and
I'll let you say if you found anything interesting from
the Rams cuts in general. But I did note that
he was quite optimistic about Stafford for week one. At

(47:46):
this point, they're putting their names on it that they
expect him out there.

Speaker 2 (47:50):
This has been from the beginning. I know it got
a little dicey there in the middle. If Matthew Stafford
had another setback, maybe we're not feeling so optimistic. But
I'm telling you, and I've said this right from the start,
that however, hubristic. It might have seemed this team was
internally optimistic that Week one would be a go for
Matthew Stafford, regardless that if he were like missing an arm,

(48:11):
he would still be out there.

Speaker 3 (48:13):
I mean, I.

Speaker 2 (48:15):
Hope for him that he stayed. He's protected. Alerc Jackson
is going to be working back into team drills this week,
the left tackle. That's absolutely huge. He's been recovering from
blood clots so far through the spring and summer and
and sort of getting on treatment to manage those, so
that is significant as well as Matthew Stafford being a
go for week one. But yeah, I mean, I this

(48:35):
is just kind of they're they're saying the things they've
muttered and maybe data just a little bit in themselves
over the last couple of weeks. But they've been muttering
this since since this popped up, that he'd be he'd
be okay for week one.

Speaker 1 (48:47):
And you you wrote in that poop Paul the fifth
round pick was cut.

Speaker 2 (48:51):
Yeah, the inside linebacker. Yeah, fifth round pick. They traded
up to get him, and he was dealing with some
hamstring issues to start camp, so kind of a delayed
development for him. And then Sean Dolac up from Western
New York and he is an undrafted free agent inside
linebacker who made this roster. And usually when the Rams
have an undrafted free agent who makes the roster, he's

(49:14):
playing for them sooner rather than later, particularly at a
position that they don't financially invest in. Definitely someone I've
got my eye on there, like that shout out.

Speaker 3 (49:24):
I like the nitty gritty.

Speaker 1 (49:25):
I like knowing some players' names to just like keep
a closer eye on. I've been keeping a close eye
on this list of shame, and we do have some
breaking news.

Speaker 2 (49:35):
Eric.

Speaker 1 (49:39):
The Chargers are off the list, just in time, and
this is why we want a complete show. I haven't
even gone through their whole list yet, and immediately I
see something notable. First of all, they caught Taylor Heineke,
so Trey Lance earned that backup job. Nice upward trajectory
to his career, which is cool right now seeing him

(50:00):
and turn it around. But they only kept three running
backs and one of those three is Naja Harris, so
to me, that is really notable that he did not
end up on the NFI lists. And they're thin at
the position, so they they cut Kamani Videl, which I
was a little surprised about they cut Nahem Heines. Hassan
Haskins right now is the third running back, so it
shows a little bit of confidence there in Naja Harris.

Speaker 2 (50:20):
Yeah, shows confidence that he'll be back in playing for
them before they are in dire straits and needing him
to write like this is like sort of a calmness
because you would at least keep an emergency option if
you are worried about multiple weeks into the season. And
Omari and Hampton, I mean, I'm really excited to see
what he can do because he'll be playing for them immediately,
be starting for them immediately, and he's just showed a

(50:43):
lot of promise. He has a lot of buzz around him,
and this is going to be kind of his run
game to start.

Speaker 1 (50:49):
And Junior Colson was put on injured reserve. I didn't
realize his injury was nearly that serious because he was
not designated for a return. You can designate two players
for return, and they did a long snapper and a
depth defensive back, but not Junior Colson. So he is
out for the season for the Los Angeles Chargers. Last

(51:09):
couple teams will hit. The Dolphins cut Mike Hilton. They
signed Razula Douglas, so he's back in the league. They've
been using this undrafted free agent Jason Marshall at the
nickelback position. The Colts cut a twenty twenty three second rounder,
Juju Brents. I can guarantee he is going to get
claimed on waivers because he is a talented guy who's
put up some interesting film at the NFL level, but

(51:33):
has had some injuries. Not sure if there's something else
going on there. They also traded for Mackay Blackman from
the Vikings for a sixth round pick, and they cut
Jelanie Woods. Do you have any colts thoughts before we
say goodbye?

Speaker 2 (51:47):
I don't really have any colts thoughts. It's more so
that it looks like the Vikings are trying. They're starting
to stockpile up these middle to middle, late to late
round picks over the next two seasons. And I always
get curious when a team starts doing that. I always
get very curious about what they're thinking and their team
building model that's going to mean and why hmm.

Speaker 1 (52:08):
All right, keep an eye on the Vikings. Insert Brian Windhorse,
you know, pointing fingers here.

Speaker 2 (52:17):
Their cuts aren't out yet, right or are they out?
I haven't seen. I haven't seen if they are not.
But they they kept Brosmer, the quarterback. They love that guy.
They he's on their developmental track for them, like they
absolutely love that kid.

Speaker 3 (52:29):
There cuts are out.

Speaker 1 (52:32):
We're down to now that the Chargers are crossed out,
just three teams left on the Teams of Shame, and
I just want to make sure, because we're all about
being one hundred percent accurate, that I'm going to double
check and make sure they have not done anything in
the last few minutes before I announced who they are.
In the meantime, let's end the show on a happy note,

(52:54):
and let's listen to a guy we mentioned on Sunday
night show Defensive Line UDFA that Kevin Stefanski loves so
much that he announced at the podium that this kid
was going to make the team, Aiden Huntington, and a
guy who hasn't really talked with the media much there
and had something that just warmed my heart on Tuesday.

Speaker 8 (53:16):
I've been watching Brian Baldy for for years. I had
videos saved on my Twitter and actually one of my goals,
you know coming here was you know, him to make
a positive video about me. So when I had saw
the I got tagged, I looked at the phone. I blinked.
It was surreal and like and in that moment, I
just thank God because, like I said, that was one

(53:37):
of my goals. And you know a lot of times
people get those videos for not so positive things. So
just for it to be a positive video and you know,
in this positive reinforcement.

Speaker 3 (53:45):
But like I said, I have to continue to work.

Speaker 8 (53:48):
I have to continue to do the things that I
did to get me here and maybe even do a
little bit more so I can stay here.

Speaker 3 (53:54):
I love that song.

Speaker 2 (53:56):
That's so nice. Oh my gosh.

Speaker 1 (53:59):
I like just I love that Baldi through just his
pure love of football. We have our show, The Reasons
for Joy for the twenty twenty five season coming up
later this week, and man, that is a guy who
finds so much joy out of the game. And because
of that, he started putting out those bald these breakdowns
and it's turned into a great thing. But all it

(54:21):
is is just like he's just loving watching ball and
wanting to share it with someone.

Speaker 3 (54:25):
And I guess I never thought.

Speaker 1 (54:26):
Because it's just these clips on Twitter and stuff that
kids are growing up and they're if they love ball
that much too, they're watching bald these breakdowns, and he
said it was a goal for him to get on
a bald These breakdown and then he did it as
a rookie undrafted free agent and what are the odds
of that? By the way, like that is so cool.

Speaker 2 (54:45):
Yeah, that makes me smile. There's been a couple of
really earnest, such heartwarming moments from this preseason, and that's
probably one of my favorites. Tyson Bagent crying at the
podium talking about how his dad didn't have electricity or
sees me running water growing up, and how much this
meant to his family. Like these things, I just they

(55:06):
get me every time. Greg, I'm so soft. They just
give me every time. I just go. I've got like
a tear in one eye. I can't and right now, stay.

Speaker 1 (55:15):
That way, okay, Jordan. That is our final nugget. Roughly
seventy nuggets is where.

Speaker 2 (55:22):
We landed, give or take one hundred, Yes.

Speaker 1 (55:25):
Roughly seventy nuggets. And I don't know if this is
a nugget or if this is just the most important
thing everyone listening is going to hear today.

Speaker 3 (55:33):
The final three teams to release.

Speaker 1 (55:37):
There are players to actually just tell the media and
help it the.

Speaker 3 (55:42):
Media do their job.

Speaker 1 (55:45):
Where the New York Jets, the Los Angeles Chargers, and
the Baltimore Ravens, and as case would have it, they
actually all posted their cuts within ten minutes of each other,
right as we are wrapping up the show. And so
you would think, Jordan, that that would take them off
the list of shame, but it wouldn't because I can

(56:08):
look at the time stamps and the Chargers they got
in you know at seven forty eastern time, they're off
the list of shame. The Ravens they got it at
seven forty seven eastern. I'll be generous and take them
off the list of shame. The New York Jets. I
like your team this year. I'm I think you're going
to be better than people think. But you were the

(56:29):
last team to report all the cuts, and you have
to stay on the list of shame at least for tonight.

Speaker 2 (56:37):
Whatever is wrong with you, I think like needs to
be like extracted, bottled and studied somewhere. Frankly, this is
just this is Pete Gregg right here. To be honest
with you.

Speaker 1 (56:50):
Well, I was like I'm looking at the time you
starting to get excited. I was like, oh, seven forty oh,
seven forty Okay, it's over, let's get out here.

Speaker 3 (57:00):
Oh my gosh.

Speaker 1 (57:01):
We will be back Jordan on Wednesday, really big show.
We are going to do our awards predictions. We'll be
back in the studio for that. So really excited. And
we have a surprise that you.

Speaker 3 (57:13):
Don't know about that.

Speaker 1 (57:14):
Eric doesn't know about that, the listeners don't know about that.

Speaker 3 (57:17):
I'm really excited. A surprise the roster cutdown. Look, two
fullbacks are making a freaking team. Football is so back

Speaker 2 (57:31):
Two fullbacks
