Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's one of three five Kiss FM. I'm Showbiz Shelley,
and I have a Chicago icon on the line with me.
Speaker 2 (00:07):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (00:07):
Sports reporter Pat Tomasulo of WGN Morning News.
Speaker 3 (00:10):
Hello, Pat, Oh my god, I've reached icon dat you.
I've been in this down on this show way too long.
Oh my lord?
Speaker 2 (00:20):
But Pat, really, how long has it been? It's been what?
How many years?
Speaker 3 (00:23):
I want you to get and then I will all
tell you how long do you think it's been?
Speaker 1 (00:27):
You guys just celebrated thirty years? Right, it's been thirty years.
I think I saw is that right? So?
Speaker 2 (00:32):
Okay?
Speaker 1 (00:33):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (00:33):
Yeah, twenty Holy crap, that's close nineteen years.
Speaker 2 (00:37):
Whooh oh wow. See, it's been a long time past.
Speaker 1 (00:39):
I know, I know it has you know, and a
lot of you know you from a lot of people
know you from of course the Morning Show, but you
also you do something really cool. This is a fundraiser
that you've been doing for a while now, the Laugh
your Face Off Fundraiser, happening on September twenty first.
Speaker 2 (00:57):
For those who don't know, can you talk about it
a little bit?
Speaker 3 (00:59):
Yeah, So this is a stand up comedy fundraiser that
we do to raise research money for trigeminal neuralgia, which
is a very rare, very debilitating, horrific neuropathic facial pain
condition that my wife Amy has had since two thousand
and one. It's you know, a lot of the patients
(01:21):
who have this are are not able to be treated
with medications and surgery. Some can. There are definitely some
who can and find relief, but people like Amy, who
have a more serious case have nothing. And so we
started this event in twenty fifteen. This is our tenth year,
and we raise money to fund research for a group
(01:43):
called the Facial Pain Research Foundation, which I actually also
help run, and we fund our own research and supplement
other ongoing research to hopefully find some treatments and a cure.
So all, we do this event every year. It's at
the Park West September twenty first. It's sold out, We've
sold out. I'll be performing along with some other top
Chicago stand up comics, and every dollar we raise goes
(02:06):
to research.
Speaker 2 (02:07):
Yeah wow.
Speaker 1 (02:08):
And so the thing, yeah, that I want to mention
is that people can still participate in the silent auction
and help contribute to the whole cause. And I was
looking at the silent auction prizes. I mean dinner with
Tom Skilling that stuck out to me. I R yeah,
what else?
Speaker 2 (02:25):
What else can people win?
Speaker 3 (02:26):

listening can can participate. You just go to Laughyourfaceoff dot Org,
go to our website and'll link you to the auction.

I do want to say that we have stuff from
twenty five dollars up to five thousand dollars. We have everything,
(02:48):
but some of the bigger ones. I will officiate your
wedding or your vow renewal. That's one of the prizes.

yacht for twelve people with him as the captain. I mean,
the stuff we have is just it is totally bonkers.
Speaker 2 (03:42):
See I'm saying icon status.
Speaker 1 (03:45):
That's what I'm saying is that's really this is really cool,
and like you said, it's all for such a great cause.
So yeah, can you get that website one more time
for anybody wants to take a look.
Speaker 3 (03:55):

can also go in there and donate. If you don't
want to bet on anything, we'll take your money too.
But no, thirty years this show has been on the air.
I can't believe it's been. It's been nineteen years, and
I think I've known you almost the entire nineteen years.
Speaker 1 (04:36):
Well, you know, I so starting in November, it'll start
my twentieth year doing radio.
Speaker 2 (04:40):

Speaker 2 (04:44):
Yeah, look about it.
Speaker 3 (04:46):
What has happened? You could be cool? I know we
were cool.

I see you at events.
Speaker 2 (04:55):
Hey, there's Shelley, But the rest of the team, Pat,
I can't remember.
Speaker 1 (04:58):
I'm like, just I'm embedded in the suburbs now, Like
I can't tell you the last time I went to
an event, so I know it's wild.
Speaker 3 (05:04):
Well, at least, you know, I'm still in the city,
so at least I can see the things that are happening,
but I'm not going to them.
Speaker 2 (05:10):
Yeah, I hear you. No, that's awesome.
Speaker 1 (05:14):
Well, Pat, thank you so much for taking the time,
and best of luck with the event, and yeah, everybody else,
go to laugh yourfaceoff dot org to check out all
those prizes.
