So I've been watching this story, like many of you
probably have, the Carmelo Anthony story out of Frisco, Texas.

And the parents.

Speaker 2 (02:20):
Yesterday, the attorney and the parents had a press conference.
The Austin Metcalf, the young man that was killed his father,
showed up at the press conference.

Speaker 1 (02:31):
He was escorted out.

Speaker 2 (02:34):
The attorney for Carmelo Anthony's family said that he felt
like it was a you know, disrespectful to the memory
of his son that he would show up at their
press conference.

Speaker 1 (02:47):
Why did he come, Why did he show up? Why
was he there?

Speaker 2 (02:53):
Nobody knows. Maybe he was there to do just what
he did, to cause a scene, because when I looked
at a lot of the news reports I saw where.

And it's something house stories.

When you read stories, depending on where you read it,
it's going to be slanted one side to one side
or the other. So the stories that I saw and
the post that I saw called Carmelo Anthony's family disrespectful
that he was, that he had to be escorted out,

and I thought, wait a minute, it wasn't even And
on top of that, and I said.

This yesterday on my show.

On top of that, Carmelo Anthony is not supposed to
have any contact and he wasn't not that press conference
because he's on house arrest.

But he wasn't.

He's not supposed to have any contact with that family.
So if he's not supposed to have any contact with
that family, why would make it make sense?

Make it make sense? And I don't know.

Maybe when you're going through grief, and I mean you're dealing.

With a high profile. This case has.

Become high profile, and you know, unfortunately, the mother said yesterday,
people have lied and these are some of the publications
that we have read as well that have lied and
said that they got all that money.

She said yesterday.

Made it clear that the money wasn't released until yesterday.

Didn't have any of that money.

Speaker 2 (04:28):
So if they didn't have the money, that meant they
got their own money and got their son out of jail.

The goalfundme was put up, and it was put up
for his case.

And I don't tell you, honestly, this is just me.

If I gave money to Carmeth, you know, to the fund,
I honestly wouldn't care how they had to spend it,
if they had to buy a house to move so
that they're thirteen year old daughter could sleep at night,
because she said they've come under racist attacks. She said

in that press conference yesterday, My thirteen year old daughter
does not even want to sleep in her own bed,
she said, me, my husband, and my children had nothing
to do with what happened, but we are facing the
consequences of it, and consequences that are probably beyond what
any of us can imagine. So at any rate, they

just received notice that they can get those funds that
have been given through you know that. I think it
was give Fund. I can't remember the exact name of
that fund, but they just received notification yesterday that they
could get that money.

And now this is what I heard.

The families, not hurting for money. That's what I heard.

The husband, she explained the mother in that press conference
that her husband.

Had to take off his job. He had to who.

Take time off because he's fearful for his family's safety.
I saw somewhere on social media last night where somebody
said white people are having their Trayvon Martin moment. Now,
I don't know if that's how they feel. I don't know.

All I know is both sides are wrong. Now I
want you to I want to caution you. For those
of you that that go to social media and you
read everything and you think Facebook is you know, accurate
and everything they say. I want to caution you because
there are both sides are putting out information. Okay, you

got the folks on Austin's side that's putting out hateful information,
and you got the other side that's putting out information,
maybe hateful. I haven't seen much of the hateful, you know, information,
but I have seen it on the other side. And
I'm just telling you what I've seen. I'm not trying
to pick sides or anything like that. I'm just telling
you what I saw. But I want to caution you

to be careful about the information you spread because now
I saw I was talking to her friend.

Last night and I said, she posted on social media.

Speaker 2 (07:21):
Now we know what Austin not what Carmelo used to
stab the young man. The word is that it's a
cleat sharpener that he used.

Speaker 1 (07:33):
Not a knife.

But but but wait, I was up all night last night.
I was trying to find a cleat sharpener. To my knowledge,
they don't exist. You can't buy one, you know what
I'm saying. But I did find out that people what
people use. So it could be now it's just a

It could be that the reason he had the knife
had nothing to do with him protecting himself, but had
to do with sharpening his cleats. Could be because when
I looked up last night, you know what people use.

They use different kinds of things, and that might have
been what Carmelo used, he could have just happened to
have it on him. It could have been something he
had on him all the time. Imagine you get jumped on,
you go somewhere, you get jumped on, and you gotta
protect yourself. What do you do? I'm just saying, just imagine.

I saw the lady here in Memphis that her dog
I saw this, probably saw this story. Her dog bit
a child and the child's family members came back and
beat her up. And it's not funny. I'm gonna tell
you what. He is kind of interesting. When they did
the story, they literally said in the story, she acts

to be kept anonymous to protect her identity, yet her
face is all over say social media, they put they put.

Tell me what you think about the Austin Metcalf thing.
Does that change your mind that you know? Sometimes those
track stars use knives, sharpeners to or they use I
don't know if they use knives.

Let me not say that. I don't know what they use.

But maybe it could have been that the reason he
had the knife was because he was sharpening his cleats,
or he used it for his cleats, but this time
he used it to protect himself. Does it change your
mind or where you are? You know what I'm saying?
How do you feel? It's one of those stories that's

being at work and we everybody stopped to watch what
was going on, especially when that decision came down. You
remember that, You remember that where I know you know

The lady that yeah, I thought that was interesting. I
don't know why the news media put her face out there,
because that's that is it?

Because people could easily you know people anyway? She says
she's going to have to move. If you what you moved?
She she her dog bit a child. This was here
in Memphis, y'all. Okay, it happened in the graham Wood neighborhood. No, no,
that's not I'm not that's the wrong story. It's not
the grand Wood, nagh. This is Cooper Young. Yeah, at
an apartment complex in Cooper Young and some kids. She said,

there were young kids. They came back and beat her up,
and she's pregnant.

She says she.

Was in the feat net position trying to cover her
baby bump, you know what I'm saying, So that nothing
happened to the child. But at any rate, they got
a picture of a hunter. She wanted to remain anonymous.
They got a picture of him. And yeah, like I said,
most people probably know who she is by now.

But she did say she was gonna move.

Now.

Speaker 2 (11:19):
This story right here, really, this is Memphis. This story
right this one confused man. And I did it this
morning in the news. Y'all even do the story the
man who was found shot on Wednesday morning outside of
a home in the Graham Wood neighborhood. He was found
near a black face mask and a bag full of tools.

(11:45):
Couldn't tell him what he was doing over there, couldn't
tell him nothing. Police investigators later found that black bag
near where the man was shot and discovered inside of
it was a power drill. And he said when they
arrested him, he was dressed in all black and he
had not arrested. I don't know if they arrested him,

but the story doesn't say he was arrested, but he
had let me see, a black face mask was also found,
but they said he had on all black, he had
on gloves, and he was shot in the back and
left with critical injuries.

So he's in the hospital. What was he doing? Okay?

Speaker 2 (12:30):
If investigators find out that he was there doing something
he'd had no business doing, tell me this, are they
going to when they find out who shot him? Are
they gonna arrest that? What they want to know? I
don't know. Uh, y'all tell me what you think about

talk about him a litle bit because I know Stan
talks about it, and I'll find a story tell you

I could not And that's not all I read. I
read about the young man in Florida. I wanted to
mention that guy to you because I mentioned him quickly yesterday.
And I'm wondering, since he used his mother's gun to

wreak havoc at that Florida university out there, and his
mama was a sheriff deputy. By the way, is she
going to get arrested too, that's my question.

Well, normally they would charge the parents of the person
or the person that used in that weapon as well.
Remember what took place up in Michigan when a young
man went up there and shot up at the school
and they arrested the parents.

Yeah, but that's a little different story because that kid
was a minor. This young man, from what I'm understanding,
is grown who knows not grown, but you know he's
see you.

Know, you know, they be responsible for himself. Hey, Stormy,

let me say this here. I was listening to your
talk and you may have mentioned about and they continue
to say this, and I hear it on the radio
and news reports that crime and Memphis is going down
on what street? That's it going down?

Wait a minute, So you don't believe the crime is
going down, No.

Ma'am, I do not each and every day when you
come on the ear. So when we come on this
radio station, we always hearing about what crime, what don't
happened in different parts of the city. It's just constantly,
constantly going So what tell me, how is crime going down? Stormy?
In my humble opinion, we got some pathetic and it's
not the politicians. I can't really throw it on them

because this is this is this is homegrown. This starts
at the family, on the family level. But Stormy, it
is out of control. I was told and I hadn't
read this, so don't quote me on this that now
people in the city of Memphis is moving out on
the housekirts to jerman Town, to Carville, Pyperton, even down

to Olive Branch and White Haven to get away from
the crime that's taking place in Memphis. I mean about
the car your bail. But Stormy, I say this and
I leave you with this. I have so upset with
our city and county officials. They can take money and
use it for whatever purpose that they want to without

consulting the citizens of Memphis. And it's this lady I
can't remember her name, and she said this, and I
leave you with this, Stormy.

She said, the government will go to the people who
don't have the money and take the money from them,
but they won't go to the Federal Reserve unit to
people who print the money.

Think about that.

I noticed that they got to stay care take care
of the city. But if people don't have the money
to pay whatever taxes that they need to pay, and
you're throwing it more on top of them. Everybody know
that Honemy is jacked up at this moment. But we
got a mayor and the city council and the count
commission and the counter mayor that just think that money
growing on trees. I wish I could run for mayor.

I would turn this city around, Stormy.

And I promise you, why can't you, Why can't you
run for mayor? Why can't you, Stormy?

I probably wouldn't get five votes, and that five votes
probably would come from from family members. But I have
an idea about about how we can turn this around
other cities. I've done it on the same scale as
Myphis is and then making a profit without raising taxes
on everything but Memphis and politicians first thing.

Is to raise taxes in order to get money.

And if they were doing something with the money, I
can see it. I would have no problem with it. Okay, okay,

But uh, you know the sad part about it too,
is it happened close to Good Sunday. Nobody wants that.
I mean to Easter Sunday, Good Friday yesterday. But it's
not the only one that happened this week. The young
man that did the shooting in Dallas, he turned himself in.

Turn himself in.

This guy, the young this this man that you know
shot up the school in Florida.

I just yea, can we understand that you all have
been devastated because of this person's actions. The question that
relates to who is a shooter? A shooter is twenty
year old Phoenix Hechner Heikener and he's a son of
a Land County sheriff deputy. Our deputy Definity Eichner has

been with the Land County Sheriff's office for over eighteen years.
She has a tremendous job that she's done. Her service
to this community has been exceptional.

And I get all of that, But what do you
do now? Young Eichner twenty years old shot up the school,
killed two people, and last I saw, I think it
was two people that had died. And y'all can correct
me if I'm wrong. His mama is a what do
you do? And he used reportedly the parents service weapon

in that crime.
