W D I a prince of the Charles.
Speaker 1 (00:48):
How are you brother?
Speaker 5 (00:52):
How are you doing today?
Speaker 4 (00:53):
I'm doing well.
Speaker 5 (00:54):
I'm doing well, sounding greatn't allay Mi Noman? How are
you doing today?
Speaker 1 (00:59):
I'm under fouls. Good to hear from you again, that's
great to hear your voices.
Speaker 6 (01:04):
Well.
Speaker 5 (01:04):
Death is always good morning to you your collegi and listener,
and miss Norman is always a pleasure to good a
chance to talk to you. I have two questions when
you listens most of these cameras. What countries do these
cameras come from?
Speaker 1 (01:20):
Well, I couldn't tell you on the real ID because
I hadn't been hit by that. But I did get
a fake poole text this morning, and that one came
from the Philippines because they put their number on it.
Speaker 3 (01:29):
Wow.
Speaker 5 (01:31):
I know a lot of times when I get those
those texts or emails. They come from the Middle East,
like in India, and I was just curious. And if
you go to YouTube you can pull up the scammers.
But evenly you can stop this from happening. I mean,
I don't understand how they get your information. I was
(01:52):
sitting at home one a couple of saturdays to go
I could go to work, and I get a text
from Emma saying that I just made a purpose now
in minding I made anything. I really don't care for
Amazon anyway, So I call Amazon, and I call my
credit cards and which I put a lock on it
right then and there. But if the idea of how
(02:15):
do they get this information to use it to goard
issue and if you don't know what you're doing, they
would run, they would greatly drop.
Speaker 1 (02:23):
Yes, you're correct, and so a lot of this information
is on the dark web if you use the web
at all. These companies are data mining as to who
uses Amazon, etc. Or they're just taking a wild guess.
In this case, they're going to hit everybody in Tennessee
because it's our deadline and everybody's supposed to have this,
So anybody on social media that that's in Tennessee they
(02:46):
know they could get a hold of you, either they
send you a Facebook message or or a text or
an email. But your your address and your phone numbers
are out there that have been called from somebody who
sold your data. We talked about this a little bit
last month with a vast computer security who.
Speaker 7 (03:07):
Had you know.
Speaker 1 (03:09):
Of course it's a security thing. They didn't tell people
they were selling the data to third parties, and so
all your data is out there and uh, if people
want to pay for it or get it, they will
be able to get it. And so all they need
is your phone number. And I've gotten those Amazon ones too,
(03:29):
and so they're just guessing that I have an Amazon
account perhaps, but uh, if you do, you're going to
get an email or a text from somebody and it's
going to say you just made this purchase and you didn't.
But what they're what they're trying to get you to
do is click the link. Then they can allow it
download malware to your phone or your computer, and then
(03:49):
they get what's on your phone or your computer, and
then you are in big trouble. So the whole the
main thing we tell everybody's don't click the.
Speaker 8 (03:56):
Don't click on anything Okay, just being said, Miss Newman,
why would the company say, for example, got a company
with Chase or this company, it doesn't matter.
Speaker 9 (04:07):
Why would they want to sell your information to third parties?
Speaker 5 (04:11):
I can't figure that out.
Speaker 10 (04:13):
If they know that this is going to happen.
Speaker 1 (04:15):
Well, there's the words selling there. I know there's the
word selling there. And then if they sell it to
somebody who's you know, reputable. Okay, if they sell it
to somebody else, then it's just out there and they're
so they're getting money for selling data. And then you
have people, the scammers out there calling data and data
(04:36):
mining on things. So every time you click a link,
your information is going somewhere, and then once it's once
it's out there, it's just gonna get sold on and
sold on and sold on. This how people get hacked
constantly through their email or their social media.
Speaker 10 (04:54):
Okay, thank you for allowing me to speak, Miss Newman.
Speaker 5 (04:56):
Is great to speak with you as well. I want
everybody to have a beautiful blessing.
Speaker 11 (05:00):
Thank you.
Speaker 4 (05:02):
One bye bye, hi sharing how you doing, ladies morning?
Speaker 12 (05:08):
Normally normally listen to your your broadcast every morning. I
missed most of this morning. That's my quick question is
is this the issue you're talking about, this digital ID
and the start on the driving license. I already have
a star on my drop away way.
Speaker 3 (05:24):
You're good.
Speaker 7 (05:24):
You're good.
Speaker 12 (05:25):
If you so, I don't have to do any of
these things you're talking about.
Speaker 4 (05:28):
No, no, Sharon, if you already have the star, you
are good.
Speaker 12 (05:33):
Okay. Well my fiancee doesn't, so he's not good.
Speaker 13 (05:35):
He's not good.
Speaker 4 (05:36):
He's gonna, yeah, he's gonna.
Speaker 12 (05:40):
Okay, listen. I took notes from the end of that
and very informative. I'll make sure he does what he
needs to do so it will stop us from getting
married soon. Congratulations, yank you, thank you, you late to
keep doing what you're doing. Thank you so very much
for this informative, very important information.
Speaker 1 (05:57):
You're welcome, Sharon, thank you, and you miss it. It's
on the w d i A website, yes, and it's
on the Shelby County Trustee Facebook page. So we will
be posting the whole thing later. Right.
Speaker 14 (06:10):
That's great.
Speaker 12 (06:11):
That's that's wonderful because this needs to be known by
a lot of people.
Speaker 10 (06:14):
That's been very important and a lot of people get
hurt by this, but not knowing ignorance can hurt you.
Speaker 4 (06:18):
You're absolutely correct, Thank you, Sharon. All right, bye, bye
common Man, Hey Bill heyd On. I'm doing well, common Man,
and yourself.
Speaker 9 (06:31):
I'm doing fine, doing fine.
Speaker 12 (06:32):
Hello to you guests.
Speaker 9 (06:34):
Uh I went online, tray said the appointment. They're they're
booked up you know for a might a long time.
Speaker 4 (06:44):
Yeah.
Speaker 9 (06:45):
We went out. Yeah, we went as far as the
July I think it was, and couldn't find a spot nowhere,
you know, at any locations we right, we even ventured
out to Jackson and sal Yeah. Man, you know, just yeah,
it's really really stressed out, militant something everywhere. But listen,
(07:06):
this is the question I have for you out. If
you're all a dancer, I know, May the seventh is
the deadline, right, but okay, say, for instance, you don't
have to start by May the seven. At that point
that has just stopped you from getting on the flights
or whatnot. But can you go after May seven and
then basically reinstate yourself in terms of being able to
(07:28):
fly and stuff like that.
Speaker 2 (07:29):
But if you have a pass but I understand they
will still you have a passport, you can use that.
Speaker 1 (07:34):
Yeah, if the May seventh is not the deadline for
them issuing them. They will keep issuing them, right, it's
just the deadline to be able to use it to
fly and get on get into a federal building and
stuff like that. So if you're not doing any of
that before May the seven, you can go on make
your July appointment and get it then.
Speaker 15 (07:53):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (07:53):
And so it's gonna go on for a while because
everybody kind of waited till the last.
Speaker 2 (07:59):
And they and I'm sure they know that a lot
of people, a lot of people don't have that star
on that drivers.
Speaker 4 (08:08):
Yes, so I'm sure you might be getting it.
Speaker 9 (08:11):
Yeah, yeah, okay, that's good. No, the last question, I mean,
when I heard you mentioned something about the clerk's office, Now,
what was they said we couldn't go to the clerk's
office and get to start cooking.
Speaker 2 (08:22):
Yeah, yeah, because I went downtown to Wonda Halbert's office downtown.
Speaker 1 (08:27):
She's got several offices and you can go to them
as well and get the real ID.
Speaker 9 (08:32):
Yes, okay, so they'll do it.
Speaker 1 (08:35):
Don't have to be it doesn't have to be the
Tennessee Driver's License Center, but that that's the appointment you're
trying to get, So you can go to go and wait.
Speaker 4 (08:44):
Yeah it's a clerk.
Speaker 12 (08:45):
Okay, yeah, that's probably work better than take it out.
Speaker 9 (08:48):
All right, Well that's what I yeah, that's what I
need to know.
Speaker 12 (08:51):
And I appreciate you all all right, thank you.
Speaker 3 (08:53):
Comming man.
Speaker 4 (08:55):
Yeah, you can go to the clerk's office. Yeah, yeah,
that's good. W E I a high caller.
Speaker 16 (09:03):
Tell was my most beautiful black African ros Tula Queen
his shoe Radio Hall of Fame, Miss Beverly Elaine Johnson, Hey,
my Steve fell real quick, mistery Gina Noman. Oh, I
didn't know about appointments about a year ago, and uh
(09:25):
my son named me an.
Speaker 17 (09:26):
Appointment in Oakland. When we pulled up, people was all
on the street. It wasn't even know where the city there.
And I walked up about five minutes to ten and
told the lady I had a ten o'clock appointment. And
you said it took about two hours. That lady send
me straight up to the wonder took me about five minutes.
It was so many people in there. People were standing
up against the wall and I felt kind of bad
(09:47):
because they were looking at me like I was crazy.
Speaker 1 (09:50):
But yeah, but it works that yeah, yeah, it works.
Speaker 18 (09:54):
I'm talking about.
Speaker 7 (09:54):
See it was people in the land.
Speaker 17 (09:56):
I said, ma'am, can I just ask your course. I'm
not trying to skip any battery, but I have a chan.
When we went to Oakland, Tennessee, I said, I have
a ten o'clock appointment.
Speaker 7 (10:03):
Uh do what do I do?
Speaker 17 (10:04):
She said, sir, She looked my name up and send
me straight up to the one and it took five minutes.
And uh, this is this is a scam. Course, Okay,
my auntie been calling and weren't weren't missed out of
me to call Bill. She saw a story the other
day on the news. Was gay he scammed two people
out of their housing. Well, he bought three dollars for
(10:25):
one house.
Speaker 4 (10:26):
Three, I said you, She says three.
Speaker 17 (10:33):
Yeah, okay, three houses, and he he sold a lady
house was worked one hundred seventy eight thousand. I think
he saw for eighty seven thousand. He sold another house
of ten thousand. I don't know about the last one.
But my auntie house is paid for.
Speaker 13 (10:45):
And uh, I don't.
Speaker 17 (10:46):
She wants to know who does she need to call
to check if somebody then tried to quick deed a house. Uh,
somebody didn't try to do, you know, try to, like
I said, scam out of the house like quick died.
Speaker 9 (10:59):
Or something like that.
Speaker 12 (10:59):
She wants me to.
Speaker 17 (11:00):
She wanted me to call Bill. She's been one to that.
Speaker 11 (11:04):
All right.
Speaker 1 (11:06):
I got data for you. Yeah, okay, I got info.
Speaker 13 (11:08):
For you, and you can.
Speaker 17 (11:11):
I'm so glad. I don't know what to do on
the show today, all right. So okay, I'm free to
hang up because I got a pen on a piece
of paper like gave he said, write it down without
there for yet, So I'm free to hang up pissing.
I got a peen on a piece of paper in
my hand. You ladies have a great day.
Speaker 7 (11:28):
Bill.
Speaker 17 (11:28):
Be careful, you say, keep your head on swivel because
these people driving like that crazy with the peen in
the paper.
Speaker 4 (11:34):
All right, go Regie.
Speaker 1 (11:37):
All right. So there was a story in the paper
the other the other day about this fella who scammed
people out of their houses. So essentially he did a deed,
forged their name, signed it over to somebody else, presumably himself,
for some company, and he owned recorded the deed, and
therefore the new ownership of their house, which was unbeknownst
to them, was him. So there's two ways to check
(12:01):
on this. You can go to the register's website. Shelby
County Register of Deeds has a website. His name is
Willie Brooks and he has a website, and you can
look up your property address. It's somewhat complicated, but you know,
otherwise you can call him and say, who's the property
in the name of. You can also check the assessor's
(12:24):
website and the Shelby County Trustees' website, which is mine,
and put your address in there if you say, let's
say you want to look up your assessment or your taxes,
but it'll show who the owner is. So if the
owner is still your aunt Steve, or if the owner
is who it's supposed to be, your good But here's
what I'm going to tell you about the Shelby County
Register of Deeds. They have a program called the Deed
(12:45):
Fraud Program. Yes, you go to their website, Shelby County
Register of Deeds and right on the front page sign
up for the deed Fraud Program. If anybody records a
deed on your house, you pick your address, you pick
your name, and you can get an email about anything
that got recorded on your house. Yes, whether it's a
(13:06):
new mortgage, whether it's a change of title, whether it's
a lean of some sort, it's ays of my money,
any of those kind of things, and you will get
an email about it and you can look into it
at that time.
Speaker 2 (13:20):
And a lot of people have done this, and I
have done this because I've done it too. Yep, anytime
that matter of fact, you know, it's so crazy, Steve.
I was on the air, we were talking about it,
and my niece did it for me. She went online
and did it for me. And my niece lives in
Dallas because she.
Speaker 1 (13:37):
Was listening and she went But it works, Yes, it works,
and they have a new they have a new way
of handling it too. So if you have somebody that
perhaps like my mom or your aunt who is older
person who doesn't have an email address, they have a
method of sending an email to themselves if somebody signed
up for the deed from program, so that they can
(13:58):
notify the person. So that's what you want, is the
notification that it has happened, because otherwise you may not
know about it for a long time. So by all means,
sign up for the deed fraud program, but also check
the ownership on your property, and the information that the
assessor has and that my office, the Trustees' office has,
(14:18):
are all coming from the Register's office. That's where deeds
are recorded. So you can check any of our websites
and see whose name is on the property. Because we
had this situation several years ago, we put out a
wallet warning on it because some lady had signed away
her property without knowing it. Yeah, not only signed away
(14:39):
her property and it was her actual signature, but the
fella got her to sign something saying it was a
payment plan with the trustees' office, when it wasn't a
payment plan. It was a plan to for him to
own her property and her to pay him rent.
Speaker 14 (14:54):
Yeah, and so.
Speaker 1 (14:56):
This is particularly bad with the elderly. It's particular will
be bad with folks whose houses are paid off because
they not have a mortgage company to help them. So,
by all means, check out the title on your property
and then check out the deep for our program at
the registered se Sounds.
Speaker 19 (15:14):
Good, w D I a hi caller, Hello, Bill Johnson,
How you doing today?
Speaker 4 (15:21):
I'm doing fine, mister James.
Speaker 1 (15:23):
How are you all?
Speaker 16 (15:25):
That's well in my world?
Speaker 19 (15:26):
Hello to your guests. Also, Hello, I have a question
about property taxes.
Speaker 16 (15:32):
Is there in a way that you can set it
up with.
Speaker 19 (15:34):
Your property taxes can automatically come out of your checking account.
Speaker 3 (15:38):
Yes, sir, oh okay, so that was an.
Speaker 4 (15:43):
Easy question, mister James.
Speaker 3 (15:45):
That was easy. Wasn't it?
Speaker 2 (15:47):
Go to.
Speaker 1 (15:49):
Our vendor for that. Our online payment carrier is pay
it nine oh one. They have a phone app, they
have a website, and if you go through our website,
you're going to get to them to pay your taxes.
And you can set up monthly payments. As long as
all of them are paid by February twenty eighth, you
are on time. So if you want to just wait
(16:09):
till February twenty eighth, then send your payment through in full,
you can do that. Or when the bills come out
in July, you can set up monthlies up until February,
however you want to do it.
Speaker 14 (16:20):
Okay.
Speaker 19 (16:21):
So when I'm trying to avoid just a thirty dollars
seat when you you you know when you go online,
because I've used that nine on one, I've used that
and then i get it over the phone with my
with my bank card, and I'm always getting hit with
that thirty dollars seat if.
Speaker 1 (16:40):
You have a thirty dollars fee. If you do an
each act, it's like a bucks buck and a quarter
or a buck fifty act each payment, each act, each payment.
Speaker 9 (16:54):
Each payment, that's a and E payment.
Speaker 1 (16:58):
Even each check, each check. Yeah, okay, if you use
a credit card, it's going to be more because it's
going to be like a credit card feed it's like
three point five percent or something, so that people use
credit cards have to pay the credit card fee. But
or you could do any check to our office through
your bank. Okay, So your your bank has bill pay
(17:23):
or something, you can just notify them to send us
something and they can do that. But if you want
to do it through the pay a company, then they
will take it from your bank account and send it
to us and they just transfer. It's on wires, it's
on somewhere.
Speaker 19 (17:40):
So I'm looking for each check.
Speaker 1 (17:43):
Exactly. Instead of using the credit card used or the
debit card, use the e check fee, which is only
a dollar or something.
Speaker 19 (17:53):
All right, I'll check that out. Well, thank you so much,
and you laid up a great day.
Speaker 4 (17:57):
You toobe mister James. Hi Frank, oh, how are you doing?
I'm doing well? Frayed and you if I'm.
Speaker 14 (18:05):
Doing great, you know, I as the world as the
world just do what they do. Uh, it takes everything
that what's really going on? Do you know you can
be ninety years old when you go to buy alcohol.
Now you've got to scan your driver license? What what
(18:31):
well they got to scan it. They got to scan it.
Speaker 18 (18:34):
You can't eat.
Speaker 10 (18:35):
It's a reason, yeah, I got it.
Speaker 14 (18:37):
Yeah, because they tied. They tied of.
Speaker 10 (18:43):
Us.
Speaker 14 (18:44):
Really, they doing everything they can to get rid of us.
Now that disability thing. Listen to me, and y'all men
with disability going buying them drinks and they scan in
you'all cars.
Speaker 15 (18:57):
Sooner or later you'll check on, get cut off, go
get cause that's the main reason they're doing it, the
driving lice and things.
Speaker 9 (19:07):
It keeps up with your technology is so advanced.
Speaker 4 (19:13):
Do you have the star idea yet?
Speaker 18 (19:16):
I got it.
Speaker 15 (19:17):
But but but everybody, they're making everybody get it.
Speaker 12 (19:21):
You know, where they need to know where you're at.
Speaker 13 (19:24):
There's so many cooks out here and everything ens and everything.
So now they want to keep up with the good
people because they trying to. I mean, ain't they ain't trying.
Speaker 18 (19:35):
They they eliminating good Uh, but they need this technology
to see where you're at, with where you're going, where
you We need to take this stuff serious.
Speaker 11 (19:45):
If these folks ain't playing with us, they're not playing.
If we need to stop for a minute and see
what's really going on. Well, look when I realized that
something was wrong when I'm trying to pay a bill
and them folks keep me on hold for three hours
to give them some money, you know, something might have
(20:06):
might have won.
Speaker 18 (20:08):
No, No, it's spear as though.
Speaker 7 (20:09):
This this is not a game.
Speaker 15 (20:11):
We're going through and it's gonna get worser and worser,
and we're gonna be still warm and then and gonna
hit us, which is already hitting us. But they got
a big plan for us.
Speaker 6 (20:24):
And and you can say it with technology though, and
then you can see it with all the stuff happening.
This stuff for real, It is when when mistakes come
in here and and they coming ain't no here fans,
and but.
Speaker 20 (20:37):
They got to come. You know why they got to come,
because it's good people forcing them to come. But but
it's gonna be different, though, The right thing is gonna
be different and and and and it's gonna be for
the better because the good people is gonna always win.
Speaker 12 (20:54):
So but but everything that's going on is simply.
Speaker 14 (20:58):
Because it's the world where cooks. You've got people out
there getting three four check, they bed it.
Speaker 18 (21:05):
They sooze it, they anime they getting I mean, it's crazy.
Speaker 4 (21:09):
It is all right, thank you, Frank.
Speaker 2 (21:13):
Well, we want to get we don't want to get
too far out because we talk about this real ID.
All right, Thank you, Frank, Thank you, Frank. Hold on, callers,
just a few, we're gonna get to you. Let me
get this break. Our Shelby County.
Speaker 4 (21:24):
Trustee is here.
Speaker 2 (21:26):
We're talking about the real ID and the scams. But
you have to have that real ID. You have a
question for Regina nine zero one five three five, nine
three four two eight hundred five zero three nine three
four two eight three three five three five nine three
four two will get.
Speaker 6 (21:45):

Speaker 1 (22:10):

Speaker 3 (22:20):
I'm telling everyone talking everyone, welcome back.
Speaker 2 (22:36):
We're talking with our Shelby County Trustee Regina Morrison Newman.
We're talking about the real I D scams. You gotta
have a real ID, but look out for the scams. Unforgetful, Yes, I.
Speaker 10 (22:49):
Would listen to this show. I want the driving knife.
Speaker 2 (22:54):
You have to have a star on your driver's license.
Now it's a yellow star. It has to be on
your driver's license. It's good for what, No, it's good
for the government is or I don't know what.
Speaker 1 (23:07):
It's good for.
Speaker 3 (23:08):
But tell Regina you got that.
Speaker 4 (23:10):
That's your idea.
Speaker 2 (23:11):
If you're a driver's license or if you just have
an identification, you're going to have to have now, unforgetful,
the star on your driver's license or your idea.
Speaker 10 (23:21):
The driver license sort of like pick like itself. I
was just wondering about that. I thought maybe kind of exclude.
Speaker 4 (23:28):
Something like the real No, no, no, everybody has to
have it.
Speaker 10 (23:35):
Yeah, because I know when I go when I got
in the military, I went down there and did my

you're gonna and some other things, you're gonna have to
have the real ID with the gold star on it,
otherwise they will.

to tell about this real life these scams because.

It's the deadline, it's coming up, and they're gonna try
to scam you. And so just keep in mind you
have to take your original documents and your body to
a driver's license station or the county clerk's office to
get this. If somebody says they can get it for
your line, they can't do it. If somebody says, send
me your documents and I'll take care of it, they
can't do it. And you've just given all your IDs away.
(27:06):
So don't do that, don't fall for it. Just don't
click links and just take take your time, make your
appointment online at Tennessee dot gov. Go to another county
if you have to in Tennessee and try to get
in there. And we had a fellow say it's just
you know, booked up, booked up through July, but they're
gonna keep giving them out, so you know, if you
(27:28):
just want to wait, if you're not taking a flight,
if you or if you may be able to get
a passport faster.
Speaker 3 (27:33):
Too, you probably know, yeah, yeah, you might.
Speaker 1 (27:35):
You can use a passport if you don't get your
real ID, but you can't you know you're gonna have
to have it as sooner or letters.
