Speaker 2 (05:41):
I'll take it. I'll take it. I'll take it. I
receive it, receive it.

Speaker 3 (05:44):
Anything happening in the last couple weeks since the last
time we got together, Nah, keeping a card.

Speaker 2 (05:50):
Just we just rolling along, just rolling along. We are
rolling alone.

Speaker 3 (05:55):
You know, I don't track or watch the news as
much as I used to. But what's going on with
your your your friends up in Washington? Elon, Musk and Trumpet?

Speaker 2 (06:03):
My friend? I read something that come on. What's going on?

Speaker 3 (06:10):
You know what what we said, Well, we had talked
about and people have talked about, said they it's gonna
get to the point, Terry where Elon is going to
turn on the president. And so now Elon, I don't
know if this is what you're referring to, that he's
the President's big beautiful bill. Elon says, it ain't a

(06:33):
big beautiful bill. It's abomination.

Speaker 2 (06:35):
What you talking about? I wonder what's going on?

Speaker 3 (06:38):
And so people and some of the folks are talking
about Elon. But I knew that was going to happen.
The bromance probably is getting ready to be over.

Speaker 2 (06:48):
Wow. Yeah, that was pretty pretty fast.

Speaker 3 (06:51):
Well well no, no, and he he has stepped down
from Doze after he has messed up folks lives, you know,
laying off people.

Speaker 2 (06:59):
And so they didn't find it, the money any excess,
well it claimed they did. They did, but he he
didn't do what what he had said. He did what
he found. It was very little from my understanding.

Speaker 3 (07:10):
And so but yeah, he's talking about that that that
bill that's in Congress and it says it's abomination.

Speaker 2 (07:18):
Elon said that. Wow, so not my friend. As I
will say this Terry.

Speaker 3 (07:25):
Publicly again and to you, Yes, I didn't vote for
that man in the White House. I didn't vote for
so for those of those people Terry who voted farm
as dramatics would say, what you see is what you get,
and that's what y'all getting.

Speaker 2 (07:44):
What you see is what you get and they're getting it. Wow.

Speaker 3 (07:48):
Okay, So that's all I can say about that. But yeah,
you know we had talked about that Elon. I knew
he would probably turn on him. I just read that today.
I don't I don't track it at all. Yeah, yeah,
like what is going on? I thought they were just
buddy buddy. Yeah, right, Okay, I guess we need to
find out or I guess I need to do what's
in the bill that he doesn't like. Is it something

(08:10):
that's costing his company or companies about cutting you know,
getting the money for the border, cutting medicaid and maybe
all that.

Speaker 2 (08:18):
Yeah, it's a lot of stuff. Wow. Yeah, so interesting,
that's what's going on, brother, Interesting. Interesting. I knew you
would know. I know, she's always got a thing on
the post. Yeah yeah, yeah.

Speaker 3 (08:31):
Hey, so I saw you you uploaded some pictures from
your trip. Finally you you that was like a great
trip Saint Lucia.

Speaker 2 (08:37):
Oh yeah, Lucia. Yeah, yeah, I put a few. I
don't I don't do a lot. I just did enough.

Speaker 3 (08:43):
Yeah, and so see, but we had a good time, Terry.
That would be a good place for you when your
back traveling, that's right.

Speaker 4 (08:50):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (08:50):
But Saint Lucia's beautiful island and it was nice and
it was it was peaceful and RESTful and a place
where you can go just just think and peace and
made it.

Speaker 2 (09:00):
Hate and yeah, it was good. It was good.

Speaker 3 (09:02):
How far How long is the flight to the same
we it was a four about a four our flight from.

Speaker 2 (09:09):
Because we left out of Atlanta. Okay, so for our
flight from Atlanta. No, it's not it's not that bad.
It wasn't that bad.

Speaker 3 (09:17):
Yeah, and I'm sure it's even less because some of
our some of my folks, they they went out of Miami. Okay,
so some went out of Miami and then some some
of us went out of Atlanta. Yeah. Yeah, did you
buy a chance to have a discussion with your friends?
I know you said, now when we own this trip, y'all,
don't take pictures until we get back.

Speaker 2 (09:35):
You ever had that talk that just you know, just.

Speaker 3 (09:38):
Words coming out my mouth because folks are my hard
here hard well you know most people. Most people like that,
and I get people get excited, but come yeah, tigg
one live, you know, and all that stuff. I guess
the folks mean, I know, we're bev and not talking
about we're talking about sometimes, well not sometimes when people
take trips hips, especially out of the country, you know,

(10:01):
if you haven't started posting when you when you in
the airport and you're letting people know, okay, you out
of town, hey, right, you letting people and then you know,
sometimes you don't you don't want.

Speaker 2 (10:14):
People to know what your business, what you're doing. That's right.
But uh, those folks, I don't know if I should say.
You know my dad.

Speaker 3 (10:24):
My dad would always tell me your mouth gonna get
you in trouble. And if my mouth got mad, so
my mouth might get me in trouble. But for those
folks who were posting before we got home, I already
know what you y'all hear that, right, you take trust

(10:46):
with there. You better follow the instruction. Come on, take
a long vacation on your own. Take your own damn vacation.
Go do your own vacation. Because I have deleted I carry,
I've deleted a lot of folks. Hey, over the years
I've traveled, I've deleted a lot of folks I know.

Speaker 2 (11:09):
So you just delete them. You go on your own vacation.
Y'all hear that you're here to take a trip with BEV. Now,
don't y'all go? You go me now, I don't mind
a lie.

Speaker 4 (11:21):
All that.

Speaker 2 (11:21):
Yeah. Now, I don't do the lives. I do the
You do the photo yeah, do the photographs.

Speaker 3 (11:26):
And I try to give a little commentary because I
know when I'm watching people's post online, I like to know,
like some people will take a picture and won't put
any comment her, Like, you don't even know what you're
looking at, right, So I like to look at people's posts,
but like, where are you? What's happening? You know, how
do you feel about it? I like to read what's
happening with the photograph or the video. But anyway, we're

(11:47):
not here to talk about social media and Facebook and
Bev's friends over in DC, Elon and Trump. We're here
to talk about cars today. I have a few subjects.
Before I get into those topics, let me first begin
with a super high salute to all of our police officers,
all of our firefighters, all those who are actively serving

(12:10):
in the military and those who are not. We thank
you all so much for your services. You know, Miss
Bev always say our freedoms they seem free, but there's
a cost to be paid for the liberties that we
enjoy here in the United States. Also high slew for
those in the medical field, the hospitals, the doctors, the nurses,
all those who do specific jobs in the medical industry,

(12:36):
the hospital industry. Thank you all so much for your services.

Speaker 2 (12:38):
So, Miss bab a.

Speaker 3 (12:39):
Few topics for today. There is a dealership in Memphis,
Miss Bev. I'm not sure if you're aware of It's
not that was just bought, it was just purchased. It
might be your favorite dealership. We're gonna talk about who
was just bought out over the weekend.

Speaker 2 (12:56):
Ms Bev.

Speaker 3 (12:57):
Also, you know, sometimes this happens more than we may
think think it happens.

Speaker 2 (13:05):
Let's say, and this may be you, because you know life.

Speaker 3 (13:07):
I tell people a lot of times when they come
in they talk about their credit scores and what the
credit score used to be.

Speaker 2 (13:12):
And what it is now.

Speaker 3 (13:13):
And I always said, look, it's just here's a reminder.
Credit is similar, in my opinion, is similar to the
stock market. It's gonna be high and it's gonna fall
down low, and it's gonna it's just it's gonna be
up and down. For an example, you got a credit
card the zero balance, Your scores are gonna be high.
You go through the holidays, you buy the kids and
family gifts. You look at your credit score after the holidays.

(13:36):
Score gonna drive back down, but it goes back. It's
gonna be up and down. But here's the point. Let's
say your credit is not in the best situation right now,
and you have an accident and that vehicle, let's say
it was you, You had it paid for, you have
the title for it, but you were in an accident,
the vehicle was total lost, Your credit is not great.

Speaker 2 (13:59):
What do you do? We'll talk about that. I've got
a couple.

Speaker 3 (14:06):
Routes that you probably can take if you are in
that situation, or if you know someone in that situation.
I have a remedy or two that may assist you,
Miss Bev. Also, I'm going to talk about creative financing.

Speaker 2 (14:19):
What I mean by that.

Speaker 3 (14:20):
A good friend of mine, good dear friend of mine,
she and her daughter a few weeks ago were looking
for a cash car under twenty thousand dollars and they
wanted to put down a good lump soign of payment
and have a payment at a certain interest rate. But
I'm gonna talk about creative financing. So stand by for
a couple of those topics here as we go forward

(14:41):
in the show. But also, Miss Bev, if you know
the new cars, if you have not been out car
shopping in a while, the new cars have some really
nice technology.

Speaker 2 (14:54):
Bev.

Speaker 3 (14:54):
Are you aware that in the twenty twenty five GMC
two rain as an example, inside the vehicle, why you're driving.
You are familiar with the devices at your house, the
Google Home or the Alexa.

Speaker 2 (15:09):
You're on the vehicle.

Speaker 3 (15:09):
You can actually, when you're driving, you can say, okay, Google,
turn my air to seventy two degrees.

Speaker 2 (15:17):
It will do that.

Speaker 3 (15:18):
Wow, you can drive and you can say, okay, Google,
where is the nearest Starbucks? It finds the nearest one,
puts it on the map. You do everything with voice
in these new cars. Wow, really really nice technology.

Speaker 2 (15:30):
Were you're a worth that you can do that? Miss Bell? No,
I was not aware of that. Does your Coscata do that?

Speaker 3 (15:36):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (15:37):
We have to check it out. It does a lot
of good things.

Speaker 3 (15:41):
Yeah, Miss Bev has a lot of technology in her
I'm still learning because somebody asked me the other day
and my god brother says when he looks at he says,
are you getting all this stuff?

Speaker 2 (15:50):
I said, I'm learning. I'm learning. I'm learning some things.
I said with Terry. It showed me some things. But
I've learned a lot.

Speaker 3 (15:56):
I have.

Speaker 2 (15:57):
I have learned a lot because it's a lot of technology.
Yeah it is, and I'm learning. That's right. That's right.
Do you have your own Star active. Do you use
all Yes, it's very active. You use it a lot. No,
I don't use it.

Speaker 3 (16:10):
But I had a good friend of mine, Jason Clark,
he just bought a car. Yes, and no matter of fact,
mcahad give him a shotout right now. So Jason Clark,
he totaled his vehicle May twenty fourth. He's he wanted
to get his total his letter saying the vehicle was
gonna be total total out and he finally got the letter.

Speaker 2 (16:25):
He came in bought that vehicle.

Speaker 3 (16:26):
But he says when he had a GMC terrain, he
says it was in fifteen seconds after the impact that
on Star came on asked him, was he okay?

Speaker 2 (16:37):
Is he you know? Are you conscious? Are you okay?
Are you hurt?

Speaker 3 (16:40):
Are any passenger in the vehicle how are they? And
he says even if he was unconscious, Own Star would
have stayed. They called him immediately. If he didn't respond
when they called, they were going to automatically send emergency
vehicles to his location because they would have that through
the GPS. So on Star is a great benefit to
have if you don't use for anything else. If you

(17:01):
ever get into an accident, they're gonna call and check
on you. He said it was fifteen seconds. Well good,
I'm glad you told me that, so I will know
that that's right. Hopefully I'll never get an accident. I know,
I know, but yeah, yeah, yeah. On Star is another
another thing that you may or may not use. But
unless say you're driving and you forget to put gas
in it and you run out of gas, you can
press the own Star button and they will send triple

(17:22):
A out and they will bring you put gas in
your cry. Don't quote me on this, but I think
it's like three gallums for free or something that's built in.
It's some kind of but anyway, you can press the button,
they'll come out, put the gas and send you on
your way.

Speaker 2 (17:33):
So all Start has a lot of features that most
people don't know what I think this.

Speaker 3 (17:39):
Yeah it is on Star, Terry. I'm glad you because
on my email they'll want some month. I think the
month they will send me about. Yeah, you're good on
your all change Oh yes, y. I love that it
checks all of what's going on in your car, so
it says you're all is good right now.

Speaker 2 (18:00):
You don't have to change that your tires. You might
be a little low, but and it tells, it tells
you all the things right like WHOA.

Speaker 3 (18:09):
I love what Bev is describing. She has the Own
Star what it does for her. Every month, it sends
her a status update of her vehicle and the because
the Own Star is checking the computer systems, it can
it can see what her all life remaining balance is
her tire pressure. And it gives her a report every
month of the status of her car.

Speaker 2 (18:29):
So different things.

Speaker 3 (18:30):
And when I first saw, first of all, I saw
that like I don't start doing I want some more money.

Speaker 2 (18:37):
And then I'm going like, wow, I love this. The
stars are great. That's good. Yeah, yeah, I'm enjoying that.

Speaker 3 (18:43):
That's awesome, as Bevy. So let's go ahead and jump
into some topics here, miss Bev. If we have the
time we got, well, okay, that's right, so you can
get get your your together.

Speaker 2 (18:53):
I like it.

Speaker 3 (18:54):
But I love how Terry opens up and we have
a little conversation. That's good, Terry, our automotives specialists is here.
Matter of fact, Terry. Last this week a lady called
and wanted your number. So I don't know her name,
but Gabr who and then somebody emailed me, so you
pop them.

Speaker 2 (19:13):
I get a lot of calls. Yeah, well good, and
I sent them to you, and I appreciate it, and
I tell people.

Speaker 3 (19:17):
I tell people I said, Terry Spicer is the man,
and he's gonna do what he says he's gonna do.

Speaker 2 (19:23):
If he cannot do it, he will let you.

Speaker 3 (19:26):
Know right and get you with the person who can.
I tell this all the time is Peth. I operate
like a salesperson, but I'm blessed and fortune. I'm actually
in management. I run this social media marketing for Sunrise
at Wolf Chase. My check is the same every two
weeks if you buy a car, if you don't buy
a car, my money is the same. My job is
to help you get the best deal, even if that's

(19:49):
at another dealership. And salespeople or dealerships. You don't hear
people saying that, but that's how I operate.

Speaker 2 (19:54):
Yeah, I love it.

Speaker 3 (19:55):
Terry Spicer is here our automotive specialist. When we come back,
Terry going to get into his topics, but always if
you have a question or two for Terry, here are
our numbers nine zero, one five three five, nine three

Speaker 2 (21:31):

Speaker 3 (21:46):
Off. Good morning and welcome back to WDIA.

Speaker 2 (22:04):
We are asking the expert.

Speaker 3 (22:05):
Our expert is our automotive specialist, Terry Spicer. Terry, thank you,
miss Bell, my beautiful radio hall or famer. If for
some reason you just joined in, we are talking automotive today.
Get your pen and paper handy. I want to make
sure that I can give you some information that you
can use. Information is going to be valuable for you.

(22:26):
Before I get going here, let me give a few shoutouts.
Huge shout out to my friends, my new friends, the
Hearns family, Miss Sheryl Hearns and a beautiful family. They
came out and bought themselves a nice, really nice twenty
seventeen Ford f one point fifty family.

Speaker 2 (22:41):
You have options.

Speaker 3 (22:42):
You can go anywhere in town. You can go to
a Ford store. But they came out to see me,
and thank you for allowing me to serve. Big shout
out to my friends Alexis Mason and a beautiful mom,
Makieva Mason. They came out and bought a brand new
twenty twenty five Buick Encore. The family has the family,

(23:02):
the grandmother. They've all bought cars from me. I love
when people call me and say where are you? We're
coming to see you so again. I know that folks
have options that can go anywhere in town. Thank you
so much for allowing me to serve. Two more shoutouts
and then we'll get into some valuable information for you.
Big shout out to my friends Antwine mcgroun. I think

(23:25):
I'm saying that right Antoine mcgroun and Natory mcgroun. They
came out this weekend and bought a brand new twenty
twenty five Buick in this Miss Bev right now. The
Buick in Vista. The numbers don't lie the Mid South.
If you ask what car is moving the most, the

(23:47):
fastest right now, it is the Buick in this the
check it out. It's what I like to call affordable luxury.
You've probably seen this vehicle on the road. I'm almost
certain that you've seen this vehicle on the road, not
really knowing what it is, but that it has like
that foreign look to it.

Speaker 2 (24:07):
The back of it.

Speaker 3 (24:08):
It puts you in the mind of the back of
a bmwor they even say it looks like the Lamborghini yours.
But check it out, Google it, the twenty twenty five
Buick and Vista. It is the hottest selling vehicle right
now here in the Mid South. One more shout out,
we'll get to some value information. My new friends Marcus
ask you and Tremika Winbush ask you, Miss Bev. They

(24:32):
are loyal listeners of the Bev Johnson Show. I'm sure
they're tuned in right now. They came out last Saturday,
Missbeth and they they bought themselves a brand new twenty
twenty five Buick in Vista. Family, thank you so much.
They passed probably ten dealerships to come out and visit

(24:53):
with me, and they got themselves a beautiful vehicle. Now,
all the names I just called out, their stories, their
photograph are on my Facebook wall.

Speaker 2 (25:02):
You don't even have to be my friend.

Speaker 3 (25:04):
I hope that you will be. But go to my
wall Terry Spicer on Facebook. I have on a blue suit.
Just go down my wall and you'll see all the
beautiful people and their vehicles. And also Instagram. I'm on
Instagram also as Terry L. Spicer and my profile picture
there I'm actually in Germany. Technically, I just held the
camera up and I took a picture of myself with

(25:26):
some buildings behind me on Instagram.

Speaker 2 (25:28):
So I miss Beth.

Speaker 3 (25:29):
Let's get into some topics here. I found that the
topic a couple of weeks ago, how to figure out
your negative equity. I think I need to revisit that,
and I'm gonna do that right now, right now. So
let's say you are thinking about trading your current vehicle
in and you always hear people saying stuff about equity,

(25:49):
negative equity.

Speaker 4 (25:50):
What is that?

Speaker 3 (25:51):
Let me first tell you what negative equity is. Let's
say your vehicle right now is being financed do wals
and you owe wells fargo thirty thousand dollars. You're paying
them six hundred dollars a month and your balance right now.
If you want to cut them a check, you owe
them thirty thousand dollars. Most people's situation is the vehicle

(26:16):
is gonna be worth less than what you owe the bank.
That's the way most people's situation is. So as an example,
you come and get the vehicle a praise. Let's say
that it's a praise for twenty five thousand dollars. What
that means is the dealership will give you twenty five
thousand dollars for that vehicle. That's what it's worth right now.
If they took it to the auction, that's what they

(26:37):
can get for twenty five thousand dollars. But you owe
the bank thirty. That means the difference between the thirty
and twenty five is five thousand dollars. That is what
we call negative equity. So when you try to trade
and you have five thousand negative that's why the dealerships
are asking can you put money down? They're trying to

(26:59):
get that negative money covered so that it doesn't carry
over to the new car loan.

Speaker 2 (27:04):
Now, I always.

Speaker 3 (27:06):
Recommend to Folks, when you have a negative equity about
five thousand dollars, you want to find if you can
a brand new car with a rebate. The rebates are
like down payment. It's the matter Facturers produce these rebates
to assist folks in this type situation to clean up
your negative equity so that it doesn't carry over to

(27:27):
the new loan. So that's what negative equity is. Now.
If you want to kind of get an idea of
what your negative equity is, it's going to be a
rough idea, go to Kellybluebook dot com, or better yet,
go to k BB dot com forward slash type out

(27:47):
what's my car worth? So one more time KBB dot
com forward slash what's my car worth? It takes you
straight to a scream and in that screen you type
in the year of your vehicle to make them model
the mouths, the color. And I always recommend to folks
click the button that says fifty percent of the people

(28:07):
click here, and that's because we all think it's bad
that our vehicles are in excellent condition. We all think
and I think of the same thing. But click on
the one that fifty percent of the folks click on
that button because it gives you a just a it's
just it's a nice looking car, it's a clean car.

Speaker 2 (28:23):
You want to get that number. You want to go
in conservative.

Speaker 3 (28:25):
You don't want to get your feelings hurt because the
dealer is going to find some reason why your car
is not excellent. But anyway, when you get that number,
that's going to be a pretty general number of what your.

Speaker 2 (28:36):
Vehicle was worth.

Speaker 3 (28:37):
Now, call your bank or if you have the mobile app,
go to the app and get the payoff, not the balance.
Get the payoff, and then you subtract the payoff from
what the the the Also, here's another good point, click
on trade in value, because the trade in value is

(28:58):
what the dealerships are gonna use. They're not going to
use retail. And the reason why, in case you're wondering
the dealerships, they are in business to turn a profit,
so they gonna they're gonna give you the trade in
value so they can take the vehicle. Of course, they
go at sunrise, we get the vehicle, inspect it, we
change the oil, change breaks if necessary, change tires if necessary,

(29:20):
change the windshield if necessary. They take it through a
safety inspection, and of course they're gonna get it cleaned
and detail for sale on the retail sides. And that's
how they make their profit. So if you want to
figure out what your negative equity is to give yourself
a rough ideal, that's how you do it. Now let's
move to the next topic here. So all the weekend

(29:41):
is bev before I get into that. June third, yesterday
was Sunrise a wolf Chase one year anniversary under our
new company, Lithia Motors. Lithia Motors purchase the Sunrise and
Barlet store and the Sunrise and Caruville store last year

(30:03):
June third, we open up under the Lithia umbrella. Lithia
is a huge it is a conglomerate. Lithia owns five
six hundred stores worldwide, all makes, all brands, and miss Bell.
Over the weekend Sunday, a new dealership was the papers
were signed and Lithia now owns the Mercedes Benz of Carville.

(30:30):
Lithia now owns they owned the Mercedes Benz of Carville,
and they also purchased the Mercedes Benz store in Jackson, Tennessee. Wow,
so we now Lithia now has Sunrise Barlet, Sunrise Carluville
and now the Mercedes Benz of Carville, and someone was

(30:52):
asking me the question, Hey, since Lythia now owns the car,
the Mercedes Bend in Carville, if I want a Mercedes,
can you get I don't know the answered to that.

Speaker 2 (31:00):
I don't think so.

Speaker 3 (31:01):
I know we can't get a brand new Mercedes and
bring it over because we don't we don't have the
trademark for the Mercedes of the brand new Mercedes, but
a pre Mercedes. I wonder a good question I'm asking
can because because we can get vehicles from the Carville store,
and they can vice versa from us, we can switch inventories.
Not sure about Mercedes, though, so we'll we'll figure that

(31:22):
out as we go. Okay, let's get in some some
more information that you can use here. Here's a question
that you may have, or you may know someone who's
asked this question. I'm sure if you don't ask, you
probably think about it. How can I get the best
deal on a new car purchase? I had a customer

(31:43):
to call me. I don't even sell the brand that
he was looking for. He was looking for some advice.
I think it was a Ford that he was after.
And he says, you know, I'm trying to get the
best deal on this twenty twenty five Ford f one
fifty whatever the trim line was, and he.

Speaker 2 (31:59):
Says, how how do I get the best deal?

Speaker 3 (32:01):
And I'll share this with you if you're looking for
and this works best with brand new cars. And the
reason why I say best with the emphasis is because
when you look at brand new cars, it's easier to
compare what we say apples to apples, oranges to oranges.
What I mean by that As an example of my dealership,

(32:22):
Let's say you're looking for twenty twenty five buick in
Vista Aveneer. A lot of people, Miss Bev, don't even
know what Avenuer means. You know what a denale is,
Miss Bev. THEE the GMC denale, Thenaley is the top
trim line for GMC has all the bells and whistles

(32:43):
in the denale on buick side. Aveneer is just like Donaley.
So if someone says I want to get the best
deal on a twenty twenty five Buick in Vista Aveneer,
then they know and they maybe say the particular color
that they want, and I want this color and I

(33:04):
won't I want to make for sure it has a
sun route because not all denalities or not all aveneers
come with some rufe believe that or not. So going
back to the gentleman who called me, he wanted to
get a twenty five Ford f one fifty, and he says,
I want to how do I get the best price?
Here is something for you to write down. It could

(33:24):
be a Ford, it could be a BMW, it could
be a Lexis. This is how you get the dealer
to get the price down. It's a little bluffing going on,
and the bluff can actually turn into where you have
to actually make the drive.

Speaker 2 (33:38):
So what I told the gentleman is, I don't.

Speaker 3 (33:40):
Know who the biggest Ford dealership is sales wise in
the mid South. I haven't tracked it. I'm sure I
can easily find that out, But I said, find out
who sells what dealership sells more brand new forwards than
any other, Even if it's an hour drive out of town,

(34:01):
even if it's in Atlanta, or if it's in Saint Louis.
Contact that dealer, tell them you're willing to make the drive.
If they can give you a good deal on whatever
you're looking for. They're gonna send you. They're gonna email
you some numbers. Dealers don't They probably don't want me
be sharing this information, but you need to know how
to get yourself a good deal. They're gonna give you numbers,

(34:21):
probably less than the market that you're in, to get
you to take that hour drive. Once you get those numbers,
when you visit the other dealership, you say, look, I'm
gonna take this drive. If you can't match or beat
that number, now they got a decision to make. They're
gonna match it or beat it, or you're gonna.

Speaker 2 (34:38):
Take a drive.

Speaker 3 (34:39):
So that's how you get yourself a really good deal
on a car, specifically new cars. If you're trying to
get a deal on a used car, they're a little
bit different because used cars, you're gonna have different trim levels,
they're gonna have different miles on them. They're not gonna
be necessarily Apple to Apple, and it's gonna be easy
for somebody to say, well, I can't meet get that
price because their vehicle has ten thousand miles less than mine.

(35:02):
I'm speaking about used cars right now, So just keep
that in mind if you are looking for a new car,
whatever that is, Lexus, Mercedes, Lincoln, whatever it is that
is one of the ways that you can get yourself
a good deal without a lot of hassling. But you
just have to bear in mind that that the dealer
in local here. If they don't reduce the price, you

(35:22):
may have to take that drive. So let's move forward here,
miss Beef, anything before I move to my next line
of information? Here, move on, let's do it. So let's
talk about Let's I say, look, this actually happened. So
if you are someone you know, you've seen your credit

(35:43):
in its glory days, you've had the eight hundred score of.

Speaker 2 (35:47):
The eight fifty. But life happens. Believe me, miss bev,
I know, life happens.

Speaker 3 (35:53):
And let's say your credit is take a taking a
beating and you're down in the let's just go low fies.
You're in the low five hundreds right now, and you
can't ford for anything to happen. It's going to force
you to have to go out and buy something. If
you're one of those folks and you're driving a car,

(36:13):
you have the title for it and you get into
an accident and unfortunately it is totaled and you're forced
back in the marketplace.

Speaker 2 (36:25):
What do you do?

Speaker 3 (36:27):
You know your credit is challenged, and you know if
you get if you get approved.

Speaker 2 (36:32):
It's going to be a high rate. What do you do?

Speaker 3 (36:35):
What I recommend to folks when they call me with
that situation, I would always recommend, if you can, let's
find you a brand new car. A lot of times
it's Belle. When I talk about new cars, people think
they're going to be paying more money, and that's not
it's not the case. I'm in the business, I'm working
behind the scenes. I see it all. I always tell folks,

(36:56):
a brand new car is always a really good first option,
especially the manufacturer has incentives, that being rebates or even
incentivized interest rates in case you don't know what an
incentivized interest rate is. Sometimes the manufacturer will say, with
approved credit, you can finance this brand new car or truck,

(37:16):
whatever it is, for sixty months at a zero point
nine percentages rate. With approved credit. That's gonna beat every
credit union, every bank. When you see those type of specials,
so you need to look for that. But now my
person with the challenge challenge credit won't be approved for
the zero point nine of course because the scores are challenged.
But you can still look at a brand new car

(37:38):
and if they always recommend the second vehicle to look for.
If not brand new, the second one is going to
be pre owned certified. Speaking for general motors products, the manufacturers,
the warranty on a brand new cars five years sixty
thousand miles. A pre owned certified car that more warranty

(38:00):
moves to a six year, one hundred thousand miles powertrain warranty.
So a pre on certified car will be a second
option which you get. You get the safety net of
that warranty. And of course the third option is just
a car that doesn't have warranty. But I would always
recommend to folks that you buy a car that doesn't
have warranted to if you can, if you can afford it,

(38:21):
spend the ten to fifteen dollars per month to get
the extra warranted. But let's go back to the situation,
so I can give you the strategy to use because
this actually happened. I'm not making this up. This recently
happened car was totaled, credit challenged. Let's look at something
brand new. And of course, now I won't say of

(38:43):
course because you have to. If you don't deal with me,
you don't want to be in a challenged situation. Drive
up to a random dealership and get with a random
salesman who might be new and don't know what they're doing.
To take the lead on a big investment like a car,
you want to get yourself with someone who is seasoned,

(39:06):
who's been in the business for a while, and they
know how to structure up deals. Let me get back
to the point. So one thing that I am good
at is when you visit with me or you called me,
and I hear your story and I ask you some questions,
it the information tells me how to set up your
deal for the approval. I do a really good job. Anti,

(39:27):
don't be on that radio bragging, nephew, Auntie. I'm not bragging.
Just want the people to know that I do know
what I'm doing. But I want to get you set
up on a vehicle that's going to be have warranty.
I would like to get it with the warranty already
built in it for your brand new car qualifies. The
rate will probably come back higher than we want And
the situation that I'm explaining it did. The rate came

(39:48):
back higher than we wanted to be. But the good
news is the customer has a brand new car under
a full manufacturer's warranty. The rate in the pavement is
going to be higher than we want. But here is
the plan. Your credit lords will and will improve.

Speaker 2 (40:06):
We got to work on it.

Speaker 3 (40:08):
Always tell folks, if you get into a high interest
rate loan, oh sorry about that family, they're starting to
call me miss BEV.

Speaker 2 (40:14):
When you get yourself huh, lab you give out your
number and they call you and they know you on
their ears.

Speaker 3 (40:21):
That's fine, that's okay. It's they may just be storing
the number, you know, cay happen.

Speaker 2 (40:26):
Okay. So so here's the thing.

Speaker 3 (40:28):
When you go into that high rate interest, that high
interest loan on a brand new car, don't feel like
woe is me, I'm stuck in this car. I'm gonna
pay too much. No, you're not, because you're only gonna
sign up and keep that payment. The plan to keep
that payment for somewhere between thirteen to twenty four months,

(40:50):
and if you can get out of it, get it refinance.
This is where I'm getting to. You want to get
it refinancial. Of course, you want to trade out and
get into something together, but you want to get your
scores up now. If you don't know how to do that.
Everyone's situation is gonna be different. I would prefer you
call me and I will get my number out here, shorty,
you call me so that I can assist you with

(41:11):
that plan. Most salespeople, they just want to sell you
a car, thank you for stopping buying, and see me
have a great life. Me I not only want to
sell you a car now, especially if your rate is higher.
I want to sell you a car, get you something
reliable with the strategy to assist you to get that
interest rate down so we can get.

Speaker 2 (41:32):
That payment down.

Speaker 3 (41:34):
And if you can, if you can keep in your mind,
if I can do this for thirteen payments, then I
can get it refinanced, or I can trade out and
get into something newer. Now, somebody may give me an
argument and say, well, if they do that, they're gonna
pay for a car for one year, they're gonna refinancial
or get into something else and they're gonna start over.

Speaker 2 (41:54):
You will be right, But what other option do they have?

Speaker 3 (42:00):
If you think about that, somebody's gonna say that you
went up to the dealership and you sign up for
that twenty percent car.

Speaker 2 (42:05):
What other option do they have? Now?

Speaker 3 (42:07):
If this person is doing this talking co sign with them,
give them a good lump summer money five or ten
thousand dollars. People love MS BEV to say you gonna
do what you gonna help them? And if you're not
gonna help them, what other path do they have? So
let me get back to it so I can wrap up.

(42:30):
So if your credit is challenged once again, five hundred
score car was total, you don't have a co signer,
you have minimal money to put down.

Speaker 2 (42:39):
What do you do?

Speaker 3 (42:40):
Let's get you into a brand new car with a
plan to keep that vehicle somewhere between thirteen to twenty
four payments. Now you may say, why are you saying
this odd thirteen for think about this when you make
your thirteenth payment, twelve other payments are certainly showing up
in the credit bureau if you've done your job of

(43:03):
making all those payments one time. And let me also
add this is important too, if you don't have a
credit card while you're going through this payment process, I
would recommend to get a credit card, even if it's
just a Macy's card or a JC Penny's card that
maybe they only allow you to charge five hundred dollars.

(43:25):
What you do in this same thirteen month period, don't
charge the whole five hundred dollars. You charge no more
than thirty percent, and you don't pay it off. The
next month you make the credit card payment. The thirty
percent that you've charged, you pay that in the same
thirteen months, and that's gonna boost your score up. So

(43:48):
in the thirteenth month somewhere, and I always say, miss Bill,
eighteen months is the sweet spot. Stam last the stand
Bill laughs at me. Eighteen months is the sweet spot.
That's when you've been in the car long long enough
to where if you've made the payments one time, if
you've got a small credit card, that you've made those
payments on time, remember no more than thirty percent. That

(44:09):
shows you know how to manage money. Your scores will
go up at that moment. At that time, you want
to refinance with the credit union. You can't refinance at
a car dealership. You need to also get yourself a
relationship with a great credit union there there are several
here in Memphis. Refinance the car or find another vehicle

(44:32):
that you're interested in that has a rebate, because if
you have a twenty percent interest rate. You are going
to have negative equity, so a rebate and money down
will be necessary if you're going to trade in between
that thirteen and twenty four months. Misbare if anything before
I move forward here, no.

Speaker 2 (44:53):
No, no, I felt that. I felt it. You failt it? Brother, Well,
you're giving out the good inf today. That's right.

Speaker 3 (45:01):

them Johnson sent you to the Rocking Chair of Memphis.
Fifteen forty two Elvis Presley. We are talking with our

(49:32):
automotive specialists and Terry. We're going to our phone lines
to talk to unforgetful.

Speaker 4 (49:40):
Hey, unforgetful, hey, miss Just how you doing terrry? Yes,
I'm one of these ones. Don't like to have no debt.

Speaker 3 (49:47):
Man.

Speaker 4 (49:47):
Yeah, I want to ask the question is do you
think it's the best way to go?

Speaker 2 (49:52):
What's that?

Speaker 4 (49:53):
If I want to buy me a car, I want
to save my money. So what I do is I
make a thousand a week. I put two hundred dollars
in the bank every week, every week, yeah, every week,
and I got it up to about let's say a
year or two, got up to about ten of what

(50:15):
ten of fifteen thousand or twenty thousand, whatever. And I
got all that money, and I go buy a car.
That's the best way to go.

Speaker 3 (50:25):
Let me, they're let me ask that the question this way.
I'm forget and thank you for asking. That's a really
good question. So right now, I have not seen zero
percent financing. I think the lowest rate I've seen on
particular vehicles is zero point nine percent for thirty six months.

(50:45):
But there was a time, and we'll probably get it
back to where manufacturers will have zero percent financing for
sixty months. Let me answer the question this way, So
you just gave me the scenario where you're making your
one thousand dollars a week, which you're tucking away two
hundred dollars a month. Should you go in the money?
You say, should you go and take that money to

(51:05):
buy a car?

Speaker 4 (51:07):
Yeah? Because the bank you're going to put the entries
on that money for me? You know they don't.

Speaker 2 (51:10):
I want you to follow this with me, though. Check
I gave you that a little plu to go to
this point.

Speaker 3 (51:16):
If there is a zero percent financing available for sixty
months and you qualified for it, no, don't.

Speaker 2 (51:26):
I'm forgetful. Let me finish my thought.

Speaker 3 (51:29):
Okay, keep your money in the bank, because you can
finance a car for sixty months with zero percent finance.
And yes, you want to finance that car because you're
going to pay the money over sixty months interest free.
So that's the route you want to go. Now let
me move to where you're going. Let's say a zero

(51:49):
percent isn't available, but let's say you can get a rate,
which my friends did. Yes, they got a rate through
their credit union. I think it was five point something percent,
which is pretty low in this market because because folks
with eight hundred scores right now, believe this or not,
are getting six seven eight percents, and they think that's high.
And they think it's high because they've seen rates around

(52:10):
the COVID time rates were down, you know, one point
two point nine percent.

Speaker 2 (52:16):
So let me asker you it this way.

Speaker 3 (52:17):
I'm forgetful, and then I'll let you come back in
with some more questions or another question if you need to.
If the rate is one point nine two point nine
something low like that, and you approve for it, keep
your money in the bank or put that money in
the stock market, because you can make more money investing
your money somewhere else, not just sitting in a checking account,

(52:40):
though you need to invest it wisely, but you finance
it if you can get a low rate like that.

Speaker 2 (52:46):
Unforgetful.

Speaker 3 (52:47):
Now, if your rate is gonna come back, here's what
I'm gonna let you finish your question after this statement.

Speaker 2 (52:51):
If your rate comes back at twenty percent, but you.

Speaker 3 (52:55):
Got the money in the bank to buy that car,
And again, get what a financial a financial advisor? Because
I am not a financial advisor. I don't I don't
pretend to be a financial advisor. But if your rate
is twenty percent, but you got the cash to buy it.
It might be smart at that point to pay cash
for it or use your money as leverage to get
get a loan against your money, perhaps at a lower rate,

(53:18):
and do it that way.

Speaker 2 (53:19):
But I don't figure.

Speaker 3 (53:20):
If I gave you three answers to the one question
to give you options, what do you think about those
three options.

Speaker 4 (53:25):
I'm gonna be honest with you, Terry, you lost me
because all I want to do is just buy a car.

Speaker 3 (53:30):
I want to let me make it, let me repeat,
let me summarize and make it simple because if you
said that, somebody else, somebody else listening may be lost too.
So let me summarize it to make for sure you
get it. Hold on a second. Your question. Your question is, Terry,
if I have listen now, no listen. I want to
make sure you because if you said you didn't get it,

(53:51):
somebody out there listening probably saying the same thing. You've
got twenty thousand dollars in the bank, as the example,
but you can finance a twenty thousand on a car
with zero percent financing?

Speaker 2 (54:02):
Which route would you go? Unforgetful, would you use.

Speaker 3 (54:05):
Your money or would you finance this twenty thousand on
the car at zero percent financing?

Speaker 2 (54:10):
Which one would you go with?

Speaker 4 (54:13):
Oh, I'm going into a dealership to.

Speaker 3 (54:15):
Buy a car back because you really don't know? Okay, well, Terry,
you explained. Either he's gonna use his money or use
what the dealership tell him, So go to the dealership.

Speaker 2 (54:26):
Unforgetful, I feel a way.

Speaker 3 (54:28):
Let me but let me just I know he's off
the line, but let me just let me just summarize
here just in case if he didn't get it.

Speaker 2 (54:34):
Unforgetful, let me slow it down for you.

Speaker 3 (54:36):
You've got twenty thousand of your heart earned money sitting
in the bank and you're checking or save his account
drawing probably nothing near nothing interest. But you can go
to a car dealership and the manufacturer is offering, if
they're offering a zero percent financing on the twenty thousand

(54:57):
on the car, which route The question is which route
would you go? The smart answer would be let me
