Speaker 1 (00:03):
Wakem It gets my day going and makes me laugh.
Speaker 2 (00:09):
I love it.
Speaker 3 (00:10):
Mac and Schmitty in the Morning on Star one O
five point seven.
Speaker 4 (00:13):
Well, good morning, j Middy morning.
Speaker 5 (00:15):
Welcome back to all of our spring breakers too, Yuess.
Speaker 4 (00:19):
The trap is over. Back to school. We all must go.
You know what. It's not fair though they went on
spring break right and last week Monday time was like
thirty something, feels like in the teens. They got to
come back to ninety sixty degree very mild temperatures like
this day.
Speaker 5 (00:34):
Yeah, this week's going to be another roller coaster, so
if y'all missed that while you were in Florida last week.
It's gonna be April and West Michigan. We're having a
good time, but I know it's going to be a
big week. We're already starting our Easter plans for this weekend.
I know some kids have days off again at the
end of the week for Easter, so it's gonna be
one of those just crazy, get back to it kind
(00:54):
of grinds.
Speaker 4 (00:55):
Is April one of the busiest months of your year.
It has to be, right because it was your birthday,
it was young Fee's birthday, then you got Easter I
mean you could.
Speaker 5 (01:03):
It's more so because we all have different days off,
with my kids going to two different schools. It's really
really crazy. Yeah, crazy good but nonetheless very very intense.
But that's actually really interesting you bring up because at
seven ten this morning, we're going to talk about the
April Theory, which is something I discovered over the weekend
that I have to share with every single person that
is back at it this morning. The April Theory. This
(01:24):
is really good stuff, all.
Speaker 4 (01:25):
Right, it sounds like something. It sounds like a conspiracy
theory had.
Speaker 1 (01:28):
No very very good movies, music, and all the gossip
in one place.
Speaker 3 (01:34):
It's the celebritiescoop on Star one oh five point seven.
Speaker 5 (01:38):
Well, it was kind of perfect weather yesterday to just
sit inside and watch the Master's final day of competition
in true dramatic form. At the end, it was the
irishman who finally got something he has been trying eleven
years to do, Rory McElroy landing the green jacket.
Speaker 4 (02:00):
Boy has his masterpiece, a green jockety.
Speaker 5 (02:07):
Very cool moment, but like I said, very dramatic. At
the Masters as it went into a final sudden death
style round with Justin Rose, the sudden deaths playoff even
saw Rory miss what could have been a good put
at the end to finish before having to head into
that playoff win. But he did it, only the sixth
(02:27):
golfer to complete that career Grand Slam, which is four
major championships in the Master's era. Very cool moment with
his wife still wife, by the way, remember even though
there were some of those divorce proceedings, they said that
they had reconciled. His daughter Poppy was there as well,
getting very emotional while thanking them. So it was very cool.
Speaker 4 (02:46):
It was an awesome moment. You know, I gotta feel
bad for Justin Rose though. That guy has now finished
second at the Masters three times and two of them
were playoff laws.
Speaker 5 (02:57):
But he's one of Master's right, No, he's never one
of Masters. Oh, because there was a Rory has gone
this close like eleven times.
Speaker 4 (03:05):
This has been the monkey on his back that he
couldn't get off.
Speaker 5 (03:08):
All right, let's talk about Coachella over the weekend. Unbelievable
list of celebrities, including Lady Gaga as one of those
huge headliners, and people were blown away over two hours
of this set. And she actually started with some throwbacks.
(03:41):
I mean there's probably at any point twenty thirty maybe
fifty dancers on stage with her. She goes from her
incredible Born This Way album into her current hit Abra
Catabor to Judas to poker Face, unbelievable. She even dropped
quite a few easter eggs that fans have pointed out thinking,
this is kind of the precursor to what we think
(04:04):
is going to be the biggest Gaga tour ever for
that new Mayhem album. Her Mayhem Baal Tour starts in
just a few weeks, and she is ready for it.
If you saw any of the videos from Friday Nights.
Speaker 4 (04:14):
Has she announced all the stops on that yet?
Speaker 5 (04:16):
I believe so. Yeah. And she's going to start with
a totally free show in Brazil.
Speaker 4 (04:20):
Very cool.
Speaker 5 (04:20):
Yeah, And Amy lou would if you are a big
White Lotus fan. The HBO smash hit Not Real down
with Saturday Night Live's joke about her. Over the weekend,
the actress weighed in on the long running SNL sketch
called the White Potus. It's kind of a political skewing
of the show, and over the weekend, Amy was part
(04:43):
of this. She was played by cast member Sarah Sherman,
who started by wearing massive fake teeth. This is something
Amy has dealt with for quite a while. She's got
these big teeth, bit of a gap in the middle.
She's even brought up that she's tired of discussing this
in interviews, and she did not hold back on her
Instagram stories, writing, while in honest mode, I found the
SNL thing mean and unfunny. While I feel righteous and
(05:07):
I might delete this later, honestly it was completely inappropriate
and not necessary, saying to conclude today's rant, HBO kind
and supportive, never wronged me, NBC SNL downright mean. She
even admits that SNL reached out to her yesterday and
actually issued an apology.
Speaker 4 (05:26):
That's the part I actually find the most surpassable of anything.
I would be curious is to know where that came from.
If Keenan Thompson was like, Hey, you know what, I'm
really not a bad guy. I'm not into jokes about
people's looks.
Speaker 5 (05:36):
Is that all of your celeb scoop at West Michigan
Star dot.
Speaker 1 (05:39):
Com Sometimes because I get a good feeling, Yeah, well,
welcome into Monday.
Speaker 4 (05:46):
We're bowering you through a Bankaemitty with feeling good right
now on Starlet on five point seven. And if you're
a sports fan of enjoyce some you know bag spall
in the afternoon and maybe some golf, I would say
that those are the two most boring sports to listen to,
or at least the most two nappable sports. And on
Saturday Schmidi they all came together at the Detroit Tigers
came in America Park because Jason Bennetti and Eddie Dirk's,
(06:09):
the TV broadcasters for the call, decided to have a
little fun Masters style with the game.
Speaker 6 (06:15):
Job on six.
Speaker 7 (06:16):
He's spent dynamics so fine today, one hundred and.
Speaker 4 (06:20):
Three yards out, he lects for the eight hunder from
sixty feet six inches. He goes fastball just off the
edge of the green.
Speaker 7 (06:29):
You could argue that baseball was a sport that actually
could be called my golf. Very calming tappa and he
just taps it to him with it throws a face
job three two here.
Speaker 4 (06:43):
On six Jackson job on the mound for the Tigers
right there by the way. His dad was actually a
professional golfer, so they felt like it was the right
moment to do that. But pretty fun way to celebrate
the Masters.
Speaker 5 (06:53):
Let's give a big shout out to the incredible women
part of the East Grand Rapids JV Girls tennis team.
Brian Davis is a name a lot of people would know.
He's been on the sidelines making those calls for a
few years now, but it was back when he decided
to join the Navy that his life truly changed. He
was stationed in Virginia and one night, who's on his
(07:14):
bike and unfortunately got into crash, flying off a bridge
and breaking his bag. So Coach Davis came home with
a new light, one in a wheelchair. But he's been
powering through it thanks to the East Grand Rapids community
and the support surrounding him. He's been having a wonderful life.
But unfortunately, just as he was getting back into the
(07:35):
rhythm of things, Bryan's wife was in an accident while
driving his specially equipped vehicle. Luckily, his wife was unhurt,
but the van was totaled. That means Coach Davis doesn't
really have any mobility right now, especially to get to
those all important East gr games. So leave it to
his amazing players, his thirty six daughters he calls them,
(07:58):
who have now come up with an incredible fundraiser to
buy coach Davis a new vehicle. This is unbelievable. Just
hear how his players and assistant coaches talked to thirteen
on your Side about the incredible impact he's made.
Speaker 4 (08:14):
Coach Brian has always been very empowering. It's just really
important to me he has away with the kids. They
want to be there because of Brian. He's always just
coming to practice with a smile. He's super positive and
nice and encourages us.
Speaker 5 (08:26):
Isn't that amazing? Brian said, I just don't feel like
thank you is enough. So if you want to be
a part of what these incredible women are doing, you
can just check out help coach Brian get back on
the road.
Speaker 4 (08:37):
The gop on me is going wild. Some incredible kids
in a real testament to him too. Feeling good coming
at you a couple times a day. I always look
at a perky up and share something awesome with you.
We'll do it again this morning at nine to twenty.
Speaker 1 (08:48):
You're on Star, Movies, music and all the gossip in
one place.
Speaker 3 (08:53):
It's the celebrities goop on Star one oh five point seven.
Speaker 5 (08:57):
Well, it was wild in California as the first weekend
of Coachella wrapped up in Indiokelly but a very very
scary moment during Green Day's set Saturday night when a
rogue firework shot off straight into a crowd of people.
Speaker 4 (09:19):
Everybody.
Speaker 5 (09:23):
Luckily, no one was hurt. Green Day was just finishing
up their set when a fireworks display obviously went wrong,
shooting off into the crowd. One video has someone on
X saying a firework exploded next to me and all
my friends. I can't hear out of my right ear.
Multiple people were hurt. That was insane. We thought it
(09:44):
was a terrorist attack. Now, later on that night, both
a rep for Green Day and aeg their company said
that no one was seriously injured by the fire. Thankfully
it was just a palm tree that got taken out.
Speaker 4 (09:57):
I mean, that's wild. And Green Days had some problems
that shows. Remember back in September in Detroit they had
that drone come down where they had to be exited
off the stage.
Speaker 5 (10:05):
And we're get so nervous about any kind of pyro anymore,
and then to think that it could have been a
terrorist attack in that moment, I mean, people were like
scattered sprinting out of there. It's pretty wild video. Today
is the big day for the first all female space
trips since nineteen sixty three. It is Jeff Bezos's Blue
(10:26):
Origin flight. This is the one that'll be carrying Katy Perry,
journalist Gail King Visosi, is fiance Laurence Sanchoz, of course,
at three other women. It's set to take off at
seven am Eastern, so that's in just about an hour
for Central excuse me, so that's just about an hour
for us in the Eastern time zone. Katy Perry herself
so excited about this, giving a behind the scenes look
(10:50):
at the capsule over the weekend, saying she has dreamt
about going to space for over fifteen years. Here I
am scene number two, and these are all of my
astronaut Cirly friends. This is my call name Feather here
on the New Shepherd.
Speaker 4 (11:08):
I think I'm gonna sing. I'm gonna sing a little bit.
I gotta sing in space.
Speaker 5 (11:12):
I think it's kind of cool. Her call name is Feather,
but it looks pretty sweet. And again, we're just about
an hour away from lyftoff.
Speaker 4 (11:18):
For that, that's really neat. I'm excited for Katy Perry
and Gail King and everybody involved at the same time.
I guess I just wish it were three women who
had maybe been working for Nasha for a very long time.
Are I'm sure, But I'm just saying I don't. Yeah,
I don't need celebrities on these ships whatsoever. I think
there's opportunity.
Speaker 5 (11:36):
Kind of cool for the other space crew. They've done
a lot of interviews where they're like, we're actually really
excited to kind of meet some of these people. They've
gotten their story out with Gail because the three other
women include a mom that was told she was never
going to space and has been working decades for this moment.
Speaker 4 (11:50):
That's what I love, all right.
Speaker 5 (11:51):
Finally, a Minecraft movie is officially the highest grossing Hollywood
release of twenty twenty five. If you were one of
those families that went to see Jack Black and Jason
Momoa in action, you were alone. The Warner Brothers video
game adaptation had another blockbuster weekend, surpassing five hundred and
(12:14):
fifty million bucks. By the way, top expectations for this
movie was maybe three hundred million. This is a smash
hit for the studios. They would Leaven admit, we had
no idea that this would happen, that this would be
so big, and it has no look of slowing down.
This is going to be massive. Both US and Canadian
(12:37):
theaters say they are still seeing crowds come back for
a second and third time to see this movie.
Speaker 4 (12:40):
I mean, my kids did love it. I am shocked
that it is this big. At the same time, you
can guarantee now we'll get a Minecraft too, and a
Minecraft three.
Speaker 5 (12:49):
Like what other video games we'll get. Yeah, all of
your celeb scoop at West Michigan start dot com hostet.
Speaker 4 (12:54):
On a fine point see them feel good for Rianni
of the eighties still now with you, Smack and Schmidti.
And here we are in April. Rebirth is in the air.
Speaker 5 (13:02):
Smidding well, we're halfway through April. That's why I thought
this was such a perfect time to talk about the
April theory, especially if you are a family getting back
into the swing of things this morning, even if you
didn't go anywhere for Spring break last week. Your kids,
at least one of mine, have been off for over
a week and a half. Bed times are back, alarms,
(13:22):
breakfast routine, and a lot of moms, especially I think
talking to friends of mine are feeling just so drained,
like you've made it through the first quarter of the
year right and just doesn't feel like you're getting a
handle on things. And so I don't know how my
algorithm does it. But over the weekend I was served
this video and it says, what is the April theory?
(13:45):
It started as a TikTok trend from a mom who said,
this is not just an aesthetic vibe. It's not just ooh,
spring time and Easter is here and all these things.
This is seasonal and science backed, and it's the reason
that your nervous system may not ever fully reset properly.
(14:05):
I read through this, it is unbelievable. The April theory
is a theory that your new year should start right now.
This should be your new year, not January, not February,
but April. It's renewal, its growth, the fresh start effect.
Whether it's love, career, your personal goals, motivations, or family,
(14:27):
you scientifically do better in April. Increased sunlight makes your
mood and serotonin levels better, which gives you a bigger
drive to get the things done that you want to
get done. It's a perfect time to reset, and in fact,
there are countries around the world that actually do their
New Year in April for this exact reason. You can
(14:48):
actually base yourself around the growing season. You eat healthier
in the April to August months. I was blown away
by this, and I specifically wanted to talk to moms
because I feel like we all are in this personal
failure cycle. It's like, Okay, we got the kids back
from Christmas. Break right, it's a new year, new beginning.
(15:10):
No boo, that's terrible. We are in dark winter months,
at least here in West Michigan. The kids are tired.
We've just gotten done with sixty days of holidaying, most
of us the ones hosting and creating the magic. Now,
I think in April, we're like, okay, let's talk about
(15:31):
fitness goals or eating better, or spending more time with
our kids. Let's open up the house and get the
sunlight in. I am all for the April theory. My
new year is no longer starting in January.
Speaker 4 (15:42):
I like that. Ever again, You're I mean, I feel
like we're moving to the bear schedule of things in
the winter. Are we just gonna hybriding, We're gonna be inside,
We're gonna cozy up and sleep and then we're gonna.
Speaker 5 (15:52):
Get Guyans backed. It's incredible, you guys. I'm gonna post
this article on our facebooks that you can see it.
Like I said, all you moms running around seven twenty
in the morning, making sure that backpacks are good to go.
What's for hot lunch? Has the carpool been notified? This
is what you need to read. We are doing just fine.
We've got everything on task up to date. We're just
(16:14):
putting so much pressure on ourselves in the wrong part
of the year. April Theory, here we go. We're halfway through.
Now you can set those goals.
Speaker 4 (16:21):
I really like that. I hope it feeds into positive
energy because I feel like I do April Theory every
single month, maybe even every week, where I'm just like,
all right, new week, this is the week where I
start exercise.
Speaker 5 (16:32):
However, is you're starting in the dark, cold, wintry month.
Speaker 4 (16:35):
There.
Speaker 5 (16:35):
I'm telling you, I'm high fiving every parent through the
microphone right now. The April Theory. We are good. We've
got this. I'm gonna post it up and you just
keep telling yourself today this is my start. This Monday
is my start. And if you started it with a
tan because you went to Florida, you're ahead of a
lot of us, So just use that as your glass
half full.
Speaker 4 (16:55):
Uh, don't rub it in too much, though, so human
torch was denied a bank of nuch. Let's break into
the news that nobody really needs, but we all are
going to click out anyway. Give us this week's first
bye ooh.
Speaker 5 (17:08):
A penguin was reportedly the cause of a helicopter crash
in South Africa. Joring NBC, the helicopter was about fifty
feet into the air when a cardboard box slid off
to the right onto the pilot's control lever. Apparently the
box hit a penguin in it. Thankfully, none of the
occupants were injured and the penguin was unharmed.
Speaker 4 (17:31):
I was so confused how a flightless bird was responsible
for Alecto.
Speaker 5 (17:35):
Twenty twenty five. Y'all that Bengo card gets weirder and weirder.
Speaker 4 (17:38):
B ch Betty. China putting out a warning this weekend
for small people to stay indoors. I'm sorry. Apparently it's
because wind speeds are going to be so high that
China has warned all residents under one hundred and ten
pounds to stay inside, and all I can picture is
a whole bunch of Chinese Mary Poppins just flying.
Speaker 5 (17:57):
Have you seen the failed videos?
Speaker 8 (17:58):
No?
Speaker 5 (17:59):
Yeah, no, it's all right. Did we really need this
bathroom study? I guess so almost half of gen Zer's field.
They should be compensated sitting on a flight next to
someone who farts.
Speaker 4 (18:13):
I think you were going that direction with that?
Speaker 8 (18:17):
Wow?
Speaker 4 (18:17):
Yep, hang on, I gotta compose myself after that, Just
a second Schmittie, all right. Nine year old drove himself
to school after missing the bush in Kansas. Nine year
old found driving a Chevy SUV after a concerned citizen
called it in and said the individual appeared too young
to drive. Police caught up with him when he got
(18:39):
to school, noting he made it. The boy parked better
than most people. Park officers gave him no tickets, no punishment,
in staid they'll leave it up to the parents. I'm sorry,
but that's new bike material right there, for sure that it.
Speaker 5 (18:53):
Doesn't ride the left lane, all right. Finally, an EMU
went for an unauthorized jawned down a highway in the up.
If you've been seeing this video go around, it's the
side of US forty one, which is near Scandia in
the Upper Peninsula. The video captured by John Waldo before
he called for help to catch Blue. That's right, Blue
(19:16):
was an emu. He's got two EMUs siblings named Yoshi
and Spaz, which have not yet escaped. The owner was found,
thanked everyone for their time and said, I won't lie.
Speaker 4 (19:27):
He will probably escape again. Hey, that wildlife in the
up s Middy, never know. And finally, just in time
for Easter, woman goes viral for dying her Easter eggs
in her toilets. Yes, video of a Minnesota content creator
dying her Easter eggs in the toilet has massed over
three million views, sponsoring going off on widespread outrage. Middy,
(19:49):
you can't do that with eggs in this economy. That's
this week's headlines, you see it. A great one's out there.
Always sent them our way, Ats West Michigan, Star.
Speaker 1 (19:59):
Movies, music, and all the gossip in one place.
Speaker 3 (20:03):
It's the celebrities goop on Star one oh five point seven.
Speaker 5 (20:07):
Well, Britney Spears is on yet another vacation in Mexico,
but it's what her entourage was seen carrying off the
plane that had fans talking this weekend one of her
security guards carrying a baby doll through the airport, wrapped
in a pink blanket. It honestly is being treated and
(20:27):
looks like a real, actual child like. Brittany is following
close behind holding almost what looks like a sippy cop
kind of and her security guard is holding this baby doll.
It's in one photo where you can actually see the
leg of the toy and the foot popping up from
the blanket where fans are like, oh, this is a
(20:47):
baby doll. It's just a doll that she brought on vacation.
It's not the first time Brittany has shown off her
doll collection. We've seen Instagram posts from her in the
past where she has shown different baby dolls. One point,
she talked about a nursery she built for her beautiful
baby doll named Brennan. She said, I'm turning forty ages
nothing but a number, so play on my friends. I
(21:09):
totally no.
Speaker 4 (21:11):
I hope that it's part of some therapeutic treatment to
get through past trauma as a child. I don't know.
Speaker 5 (21:17):
I just held those baby be Real dolls are used
for that. A lot of women use them after they've
had miscarriages or other traumatic events. They are supposed to
be very helpful, so I am also hoping that is
what's going on. Yeah, Yeah, post Malone very excited about
another new album dropping and confirmed after headlining Coachella this
weekend it is going to be very country yet again.
(21:41):
Speaking about how kind the Nashville community has been since
he started working on his chart topping twenty twenty four
album F one trillion, he said, every time he gets
together with his crew in Nashville, it's just fun. He's
talking about artists like Ernest Hardy and Thomas Rhett, people
he loves collaborating with, and said, yeah, I am definitely
(22:03):
still going country. He said he's done two trips to
Nashville for this upcoming project and has probably made about
thirty five songs. He says it's just a matter of
which one's rock and which ones sock. It's actually wild.
I didn't realize it until I was reading this. He
has dropped a new album every single year since twenty
(22:24):
twenty two. He says some are better than others.
Speaker 4 (22:27):
I'm just gonna say the guy's genre list, don't you
think like all most at this point.
Speaker 5 (22:31):
Well, he does admit like it takes a lot of
time to figure out what I do and don't want
to actually release. But when asked, does that mean you'll
continue your trend and we're getting another new album in
twenty twenty five, he said, hopefully we will have some
music releasing very very very soon. Finally, this is a moment,
and I don't mean to be it's funny, and she
(22:52):
handled it beautifully. A reporter innocently confused about the Upper
Peninsula asking the now national champion Western Michigan Broncos how
they made it all the way to Saint Louis because
I don't think she knows where Kalamazoo is located.
Speaker 6 (23:11):
Because I've never been to the Upper Peninsula. Pat, I
guess for you or if anyone can answer this question,
do you know how, like, how does one journey from
Kalamazoo to Saint Louis. I imagine it's not an easy
trip to make.
Speaker 4 (23:23):
Well, we're on a lower pitnis, so it's a really
easy journey to make. Okay, it's literally like five hours.
Speaker 3 (23:28):
That's the highway to Chicago, twifty five down.
Speaker 5 (23:33):
Yeah, yeah, yeah. The reporter immediately realized what she did.
They were like Actually it's it's pretty simple. We're maybe
an hour and a half outside of the border. You
ahead to Chicago, you take fifty five down and she said,
let's just go ahead and forget that incredibly stupid questions.
I asked, Yeah, video's pretty great. I got it up
for you with your scoop at West Michigan.
Speaker 4 (23:53):
Start off that battle five points. Yeah, it it's Mack
and Schmidti. Let's battle and get you out for some laughs.
Coming up at the Alligan County in September, Smitty.
Speaker 5 (24:01):
This is like quite a collaboration. You're gonna see Jeff
Dunham and Gabriel Iglesias. This is September fifth at the
Alligant County Fairgrounds. We've got your battle question scoring new tickets.
One hundred men surveyed. Name something a police officer would
be embarrassed to admit they misplaced.
Speaker 4 (24:18):
Something that'd be embarrassed to admit they misplaced. Uh, you know,
how about just the criminals. You can't lose those more
than anything else. A whole time off for.
Speaker 5 (24:28):
Very much longer six one, six, four, five, eight, one
oh five seven callers seven, you've got a shot at
the number one answer one hundred men surveyed name something
a police officer would be embarrassed to admit they misplaced,
and you're on your wad. See Jeff Dunham and Gabriel
Iglesias with Star one oh five point seven?
Speaker 4 (24:47):
Well, good morning Star. Who's this Brie? Where are you
coming from today?
Speaker 2 (24:51):
All?
Speaker 4 (24:52):
All right, Bra, let's get these tickets for Jeff Dunham
and Gabriel Iglesias for you just got to tell me what.
One hundred guys were asked to name something that a
police officer would get embarrassed about losing. What do you
think Their top answer was gun your weapon? Yeah, that
was immediately where I went to as well. However, for
(25:12):
some reason, weapon is the number four most common answer.
I don't know how, I don't know why, but I
agree with you, but it was not the top one today.
I'm sorry, thank you, Thanks Brey. Hi Star, who's this Tammy?
I just got a great guest from Brie. When one
hundred guys were asked to name something a police officer
would get embarrassed to admit they lost or misplaced, she said,
(25:35):
But I think everybody was thinking, which was your gun?
Your weapon? But that's the number four most common answer.
There was something people put a lot higher than that.
So what do you think it is, Tammy. I think
it would be the car. Yeah, you lose the car,
whether there's criminals in it or not. It's not going
to be a good day at the office for you
if you're a police officer, that's for sure. Cars the
top answer. Wait to go, Tammy. You're going to see
(25:58):
Gabriel Igu Glacias and Jeff Dunham. You get them both
at the Alligan County Fair.
Speaker 6 (26:03):
Ah, thank you so much.
Speaker 4 (26:05):
Yeah, it's gonna be a great show and we're looking
to get you in all week long as we battle
Battle of the Sexes each weekday eight fifteen here on Star.
Congrats Stammy, thank you. Come on and see it's Mack
and Schmidt. He hope you had a nice relaxing weekend.
Enjoyed yourself. I had some action happened yesterday, Schmidty. That
was very unexpected. Have you ever just found yourself in
(26:27):
the midst of an emergency that involves strangers where you
had to jump.
Speaker 5 (26:31):
In suddenly, Not that I can think of now.
Speaker 4 (26:33):
Yesterday we were on our way to drive my daughter
Charlotte to her friend's house and it was the craziest thing.
So we're driving in this neighborhood by my house, so
lots of houses, and my wife and I are doing
the Zillow thing. We're looking at all these houses on
the river, imagining that, you know, we could afford them
and want to live there. And I'm driving in. Out
of the corner of my eye in my rear view,
(26:53):
I see what I believe to be a figure flop
down to the ground. And I look at it and
I'm like, I think that was a person. I stopped
my car in the middle of the road SCHMITTI and said,
I think I just saw a person fall down to
the point where we have to go back and check
on them. And I turned my car around in the
middle of the road in this neighborhood and an elderly
(27:16):
man had fallen taking his trash out to the curb.
He was already somebody who was elderly seventies or eighties,
had a cane, was a bigger guy. And I come back.
He had hit his head. He was bleeding pretty badly.
You know what, Your cuts on your head are always gushers, right,
and he So it's just this insane situation that we
(27:37):
came back to you. I don't even know how I
saw in my rear view mirror. We get back and
then we wind up helping the man up. I get
him up and I'm asking him, you know, like are
you okay? Should I call an ambulance? And he's like no,
And his wife comes out and she's helping too. But
I'm lifting this guy up with my wife and we
carry him inside. We get him to his garage door,
(27:58):
and then the three of us came fit through this area.
So he puts his hand on his car, and then
he and his wife walk in and we're like, are
you okay, and she's like, yes, you know, we'll be okay.
And they go in and they closed the door, and
like then we breathe right, We're like, oh my god.
That was so insane, And all we felt for the
rest of the day was guilt.
Speaker 5 (28:16):
I would have called nine to one one.
Speaker 4 (28:17):
All we felt for the rest of the day was guilt. Smitty.
Speaker 5 (28:19):
This is so they're probably alone.
Speaker 4 (28:22):
Not only that, not only that, Schmitty, but like, as
you replay things in your head twenty twenty vision right,
like you could see what you should have done, And
immediately I was like I should not have gotten him up. Correct,
he wasn't lying on his back, he was already moving.
This wasn't one of those situations, right, and he wanted
he said, he's like, helped me up and I and
so I was just reacting in the moment, all adrenaline,
(28:42):
and afterwards, I'm like, shouldn't have helped him up. I
should have made him sit there. I should have asked
him a ton of questions, made sure there was no
concussion going on. When his wife came out, I should
have said, hey, just go grab something to clean up,
you know, his head. Let's make sure he doesn't need stitches.
All of these things that I wished that I had
wished I had done in the moment that I did
(29:03):
not in a situation where I was just helping somebody out.
Speaker 5 (29:06):
But you also aren't a medical professional. You wouldn't know
those things, which is why nine to one one, I know,
like maybe it's just you know, one of my best
friends is a nurse, and so we've just hung out
so many times where she's had those things happen. I
just know, like, whoof this is. I'm in radio, Let
me go ahead and sit here with you and grab
your bottle of water, but call nine one one.
Speaker 4 (29:23):
I asked this on Facebook, and you know, several people
everybody said they helped, Melissa saying help semi versus three
car accidents. Shammon saved a woman choking, which I've had
daydreams of before but never actually had that situation.
Speaker 5 (29:36):
Why ye also be CPR? Sort of mine?
Speaker 4 (29:39):
Calvin CPR on an elderly person in her yard in
front of their family, saving somebody else's life while their
family looks on. Are you kidding me?
Speaker 5 (29:49):
It's a two minute video American Heart Association teach you
all how to be CPR certified.
Speaker 4 (29:53):
Beg's Staying Alive. That's what I think of the CPR song.
Have you ever had a situation like this where you
had jump in and help? On Facebook and Instagram? At
West Michigan.
Speaker 8 (30:03):
Stop sometime does I get a good feeling?
Speaker 4 (30:12):
Well, let's start this week the right way. Shew feeling good?
On start one oh five point seven? What's happened to Minnie?
Speaker 8 (30:17):
Well?
Speaker 5 (30:17):
I love seeing men just overcome with emotion at how
lucky they are to have each other. And I know
a lot of people this morning are talking about the
incredible Masters win for Rory Malclroy, after drying for eleven years,
officially putting on that green jacket yesterday. But I wanted
to point out an incredibly cool moment with his caddie.
(30:39):
His name is Harry Diamond. Rory and Harry have known
each other since they were kids, and in the press
conference following his master's win, he literally gets choked up
and starts crying at how important it is that his
best friend, also his best man, was by a side.
Speaker 2 (30:55):
Damen. Yeah, I've known Harry since I was seven years old.
I met him on the putting green at Hollywood Golf Club.
We've had so many good times together, you know. He's
been like a big brother to me the whole way
through my life. And to be able to share this
(31:18):
with him, after all the close calls that we've had, yeah,
this one, you know, this one is you know, just
as much as it is as it is mine. He's
a massive part of what I do and I couldn't
think of anyone better to share with him.
Speaker 5 (31:37):
Isn't that incredible? By the way, the Hollywood Golf Club
he was talking about where they played his kids. This
was their reaction to the win yesterday. Pretty incredible stuff
when you realize the history. But it's definitely a beautiful video.
West Michigan Star dot Com.
Speaker 4 (31:58):
All right, schvity of course, as we come in, you know,
spring break is over with before you know, and it'll
be wrapping up the school year and those high school seniors,
oh but the out the door onto their next adventure.
And down at Louisiana, there's a teacher who is not
only helping them in the classroom, but goes way above
and beyond. Her name is Kate Fletcher. She's an English
(32:19):
teacher at Louisi County High School in Louisiana, and she
has been doing a run now for nine years. It's
called the Lion Pride Run, and she started at four
am and ran more than forty miles all to raise
funds for her students as they head off to college
and other careers that they're going to be working towards.
(32:41):
And she says, I love teaching, I love running. This
is an opportunity to just to combine those two things
and help the kids of Louisa County Public schools. So
get this. She is raised in her nine years of
running the shmitty AE hundred thousand dollars plus for those kids.
Absolutely unbelievable. She was talking about just how hard it
(33:01):
gets sometimes, but that the kids and the parents and
then fellows, students and teachers all had her back.
Speaker 8 (33:06):
This is the ninth year that we've given away scholarship
funds raised by the run I do. I was dragging
a little bit, especially coming into town, and then when
I came around the corner and I saw everybody and
the band was playing, and the cheerleaders were jumping around,
and my whole third block class is here with posters.
Speaker 4 (33:26):
Yeah. So they were giving her that spirit, but you
know what, they're drawing inspiration from her as well as
Senior Isaiah Holland shared.
Speaker 3 (33:32):
I definitely get inspire by this pleasure because you know,
she's not one to be like, oh, you know, I'm
scared to kind of do this.
Speaker 2 (33:37):
No, She's like, I'm gonna do it. I'm gonna be
that person, I'm gonna make an impact.
Speaker 4 (33:40):
I'm gonna be that person and I'm gonna make an impact.
So educators like that show the next generation of kids
that it takes all of us stepping up to help
each other. O love that feel like I'm coming at
a couple of times to day. I always want to
share something great with you. We'll do it tomorrow. I'm
six forty five and nine twenty here on Star
Speaker 3 (33:55):
Mack and Schmidty in the morning weekdays, starting at six
am on Star one oh five at point seven
