Speaker 1 (00:02):
Wake it.
Speaker 2 (00:07):
It's my day going and makes me laugh.
Speaker 1 (00:09):
I love it. Mac and Schmitty in the Morning on
Star one O five point seven. Good morning, Schmitty.
Speaker 2 (00:15):
Oh, welcome back to it.
Speaker 1 (00:16):
Welcome into your Monday, hoping that you had a phenomenal
Easter weekend fact with family, of course, and now just
the joys of picking up little pieces of green grass
for a couple of weeks.
Speaker 2 (00:26):
Oh no, we don't. We don't do the green grass
at the Schmitty house.
Speaker 1 (00:30):
Not part of your right traditions, y'all.
Speaker 2 (00:33):
If I'm out there hiding eggs and then trying to
clean up the ones my kids didn't find, I'm not
doing the grass on top of it, call me on fun.
Speaker 1 (00:39):
Oh unbelievable. Of course. The big news this morning, Smitty,
coming out of Easter Sunday. Of course, Pope France is
passing away, so breaking news on that.
Speaker 2 (00:48):
We're going to have more about this with your West
Michigan Wake Up. I'll have this covered in scoop as well.
It's actually very shocking news as he was literally just
in public yesterday for one of his most high prof
file public appearances in months for Easter services. But yes,
at the age of eighty eight. Pope Francis has passed
away this morning. Lots of reactions still coming in the
(01:10):
Diocese of Grand Rapids has actually just issued a statement
a few minutes ago, so we will have more about that,
But definitely the biggest story this morning, and bittersweet news
following such a holy weekend. So we'll keep the updated movies,
music and all the gossip in one place.
Speaker 1 (01:26):
It's the Celebrities group on Star one oh five point seven.
Speaker 2 (01:30):
We'll get to breaking news as you are awaken up
this morning. Sad announcement out of Rome. Pope Francis has
passed away at the age of eighty eight, the two
hundred and sixty sixth pope in the Catholic Church's history.
The Vatican with an official announcement at seven thirty five
this morning. It would be local times the Bishop of Rome.
(01:51):
Francis returned to the House of the Father. His entire
life was dedicated to the service of the Lord and
his Church. That was delivered by a cardinal and barrel.
Here is just a piece of what we're seeing in
Rome right now. Bells are ringing across the Vatican. You
can see crowds slowly starting to gather to of course,
(02:14):
pay their respects. We do know the past few months
the Pope has had quite a few different health issues,
but this comes as very surprising news because just yesterday
was his first real public appearance. He did celebrate Easter services,
he greeted crowds outside of the Vatican. Pope Francis becoming
(02:35):
the first pope to be a member of the Jesuits,
the first from the Americas and the Southern Hemisphere, the
first pope from outside Europe since the eighth century, eighty
eight years old. A lot of tributes pouring in this morning,
a man of the people who was actually nicknamed the
People's Pope. So there will be quite a bit of
mourning today, I.
Speaker 1 (02:57):
Mean, without a doubt, especially with it being such a
holy weekend. Come after this too, I've mean hitting people
definitely when it's top of mine.
Speaker 2 (03:03):
Kelly Clarkson fans have been waiting for this. It appears
we could be getting some new music from the artist.
So here's the deal. She posted to Instagram over the
weekend with what looks like album art for a single
called where have You Been? All she captioned was soon
dot dot dot. Fans going absolutely wild at the idea
(03:26):
of brand new music from Kelly Clarkson, and sources say
this is actually a big part of the reason she
took that very odd break from her show back in March. Remember,
she was mia for almost two weeks. She didn't really
give any kind of update as to why she came
back to celebrate her one thousandth episode for The Kelly
Clarkson Show, simply saying she was working on some personal
(03:51):
things and then never really addressed any further reason for
her absence. They're saying it's this that she's actually been
working on a big surprise for fans, and some of
that is brain new music.
Speaker 1 (04:01):
I mean personally, can she just give me covers? I
want Kelly ok as an album? Can I?
Speaker 2 (04:06):
Yeah? No, I want new stuff. I love Kelly Clarkson
and I think some new stuff would be so good. Finally,
Kristen Stewart, the Twilight actress, is officially a married woman,
tying the knot over the weekend. Sources say her and
fiance Dylan Myer said I do during an intimate ceremony
at her LA home yesterday. Actress Ashley Benson and her
(04:28):
husband were among the guests on the VIP list very intimate,
small ceremony. They're saying they're not confirming the news this morning,
but pictures of surface and it does look very very cute.
So got those photos up for you with your scoop
at West Michigan Star dot Com.
Speaker 1 (04:42):
Oyle hoping you had a great weekend, but looking to
get this week off to a great start for you too.
Feeling good on startin Oh five points. Yeah, and it's
Mac and Schmitty and we'll have to clear out the
paparazzi and the throngs of fan fans because we have
the most popular penguin in the world right here in
West Michigan. Committee. Yeah, film a penguin at john Ball
(05:04):
Zoo getting some international attention on Franni as the Zoo
got to announce that he won the international March of
the Penguin Madness competition and became Yes, the won the
title of most popular Penguin in the World. They announced
with a really cute video on social media, as well
as his own winning theme song.
Speaker 2 (05:30):
Hol On knew his.
Speaker 1 (05:33):
Really cute putting it on in the statement saying on
behalf of Phil and the entire team here at john Ballzoo,
we thank you for your unwavering supported love for fil
during this entire competition. Your support not only helped Phil
take the crown, but also brought awareness to penguin conservation
efforts everywhere, Every bracket, every vote, every year helps bring
attention to these incredible birds and the work being done
(05:53):
to protect them. Really really cool. This is the second
year to row. Actually, John Ball Zoo had somebody in
the finals last year, Chester the Penguin Menut, But Phil
is actually the very first ever US penguin to win
the title of all time. No American penguin ever did
it until Phil, the world's most popular.
Speaker 2 (06:11):
All right, ladies, it is our time thanks to First
Lieutenant Gabrielle White becoming the first ever female service member
to complete the grueling Best Ranger competition in Army history.
She's a twenty five year old West Point grad becoming
the first female ranger ever to compete in the annual
(06:32):
three day thirty event marathon. It includes things like helicopter missions,
land navigation, weapon qualification, and various ruling physical tests. Why
was the only woman on any of the fifty two
to two person teams that competed. Overall, it included a
one hundred and three men and just First Lieutenant Gabrielle White.
(06:57):
She was seen climbing ropes, logging through mud, complete eating
pull ups, and swimming across water in the notoriously Tasking Challenges.
This is a big deal because Ranger School only opened
to female soldiers back in twenty fifteen. For a very
long time, there were some that thought women couldn't handle it,
and this woman is proving that all wrong. Female challengers
(07:19):
can compete in one of the military's highest profile event
for soldiers, and they do it amazingly. She is not
only the first woman, but also the first African American
woman to ever compete, completely rewriting history. Well done, First
Lieutenant Gabrielle White.
Speaker 1 (07:36):
Braking barriers, love to see it, feeling good. Always here
to highlight people doing amazing things out there, and we
want to do it again for you today. Coming up
at nine Swami right here.
Speaker 2 (07:43):
On stock, movies, music and all the gossip.
Speaker 1 (07:47):
In one place. It's the celebrities gooop on Star one
oh five point seven.
Speaker 2 (07:52):
Well, the world is waking up to breaking news out
of Rome this morning. Pope Francis has passed away at
the age of the eighty eight. Those are bells still
tolling across the Vatican, including live from Saint Peter's Square,
where crowds are continuing to grow as the news spreads.
(08:12):
The announcement made by Cardinal Kevin Berrell at seven thirty
five this morning, the Bishop of Rome Francis returned to
the House of the Father. His entire life was dedicated
to the service of the Lord and his Church. A
number of dignitaries have spoken, including the royal family, King
Charles and his wife Camilla, issuing a statement minutes ago,
(08:34):
my wife and I were most deeply saddened to learn
of the death of Pope Francis. Our heavy hearts have
been somewhat eased, however, to know that his Holiness was
able to share an Easter greeting with the Church and
the world he served with such devotion throughout his life
and ministry. Part of the reason this is rather surprising
news helped Francis did celebrate Easter services yesterday, one of
(08:57):
his first public appearances in and in fact, Vice President J. D.
Vance met briefly with the Pope yesterday, the eighty eight
year old offering the Catholic Vice President three big chocolate
Easter eggs for Vance's three young kids, as well as
a Vatican tie and rosaries. So very very sad news
(09:17):
this morning again eighty eight years old.
Speaker 1 (09:19):
Yeah, I mean, I feel like it was a blessing
that he was able to be out on Easter Sunday
amongst the people, and I just think that's a really
fitting way for a pope to be spending his final days.
Speaker 2 (09:31):
So it looks like we are not quite done poking
fun at the Blue Origin space mission, at least if
you're Joe Rogan. He dropped a new episode of his
Joe Rogan Experience Friday night, taking aim Katy Perry once again.
Speaker 1 (09:45):
What were they up there ten minutes?
Speaker 3 (09:46):
Well, it was very profound. I don't know if you've
seen Katy Perry talk about it, but she's basically guru.
Speaker 1 (09:51):
Now, yeah, what were her findings? That's my question? Well,
what did you learn?
Speaker 3 (09:55):
See? Which is super important shows you how quick the
flight was. The dead daisy that's like snipped from its
life source was still still alive or still vibrant.
Speaker 1 (10:06):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (10:07):
Remember I had the story back on Friday that Katie
is struggling with the criticism that she is facing over
that flight.
Speaker 1 (10:14):
I don't feel like did we hear the same stuff
when William Shatner went up into space on one of
those Blue or flights, did we hear because I feel
like these I feel like these women are taking more
heat than a lot of others did.
Speaker 2 (10:25):
All right, here is something I did not expect to see. Yesterday,
I believe the first official publication that actress Elizabeth Hurling
is dating Billy Ray Cyrus. Uh yep. They posted a
picture together for Easter yesterday. You can see Billy wearing
some bunny ears and kissing Elizabeth. It simply said Happy
(10:47):
Easter with a heart emoji. A lot of friends of
the stars, including Emmy nominated actress Melissa Gilbert, popped into
the comments like what a lot of confusion. However, Elizabeth's
sun Damien and just commented with a post writing a
really happy emoji face with a heart. So it feels
like maybe it's not a surprise to him, and maybe
(11:07):
the two have been dating for a while, but you'll remember.
I feel like it was just a few months ago
that Billy Ray finally got past some of that drama
with now ex wife Fire Rose, who he was only
married to for less than a year. There was a
ton of drama with that. But yeah, I guess Billy
Ray Elizabeth earlier now an item.
Speaker 1 (11:23):
Yeah, didn't see that coming. Very nineties, very nineties for sure.
Speaker 2 (11:26):
All Right, all of your celeb scoop at West Michigan
Star dot com.
Speaker 1 (11:29):
Hopefully feeling good after her Easter Sunday yesterday.
Speaker 2 (11:32):
I'm feeling a little laggy. I won't I won't lie
to you. I had like nine rolls and four helpings
of cheesy potatoes in an Easter brunch yesterday. But let's
talk about whether or not you did an Easter egg
hunt for your kids. Because I posted this video about
what my husband did. Did TikTok, just because like I
usually post something today, I'm sitting at one hundred and
seventy thousand views. Yeah, I have gotten like five thousand
(11:55):
shares on this thing, the amount of parents that have
popped into my comments like oh, that's such a great idea,
or we do it this way. And I actually got
some really solid Easter hacks for you, so maybe you, like,
I don't know, write these down or go back to
our podcast at West Michigan Star dot com next year
for these. Because Chris went out to the store on Saturday,
he was in charge. We had a neighborhood easter egg
(12:18):
hunt Saturday evening where each kid was supposed to bring
fifteen eggs, and then yesterday was going to be the
one that we did just for our kids. Two kids, right,
two kids. So ask me why Chris comes home Saturday
afternoon with one hundred and twenty eggs. One hundred and
twenty eggs.
Speaker 1 (12:36):
Y'all, because he's looking to do things right. He's not
gonna just you know, put a little effort.
Speaker 2 (12:40):
Went to him, like, what kind of time do you
think we have here to fill these?
Speaker 1 (12:45):
Have?
Speaker 2 (12:45):
Put them all Together's like next level, babe, And honestly,
he goes, I got it, he said, I gotta tell you,
and I'm pretty sure because a ton of people were
asking me where these were from, and I think it
was just locally Meyer. I think we just got them
at Meyer. And he said, when you looked at eggs
to buy, just like plastic eggs, he said, you either
got like six or twelve for ten bucks or I
(13:06):
don't know. They must have been obviously trying to unload these,
because one hundred and twenty was like seven dollars on clearance.
So we had one hundred and twenty easter eggs. Nice
for our hunt. Yep, did it end up giving some
more to the neighborhood hunt than we needed to because again,
one hundred and twenty eggs. So I posted this TikTok
and it was wild. Mackenzie actually hides the eggs empty
(13:28):
for every hunt they do, and then the kids trade
them in for prizes based on color.
Speaker 1 (13:33):
Oh interesting, RELLI, and I was like, so.
Speaker 2 (13:35):
You don't have to sit there and fill every single
one of them.
Speaker 1 (13:37):
I've seen that done with like massive Easter egg hunts,
like when a mall will throw it or something like that.
A lot of times that's time.
Speaker 2 (13:42):
Now does your kids? She's saying, oh, Mama, don't have time.
I've heard a lot about glowing the dark eggs.
Speaker 1 (13:46):
That'd be fun.
Speaker 2 (13:47):
I've never found those. I know. We had six golden
eggs in our one hundred and twenty that the kids
are losing their minds over.
Speaker 1 (13:54):
Yeah, I can't find all the eggs in broad daylight.
Speaker 2 (13:56):
So yeah, finally I've got to give it up for Leslie.
We did an egg hunt today four our families. My
sister in law showed up and my brother had hidden
fifteen thousand eggs what she had no idea, and I
still don't know today whether she's happy about it or not.
Speaker 1 (14:19):
Fifteen facts.
Speaker 2 (14:20):
I haven't gotten a chance to comment back to her
and be like, do y'all have like six or eight
kids per family? Or are we talking like thirty cousins?
Speaker 1 (14:28):
As did this take place?
Speaker 2 (14:30):
Eighteen thousand eggs? And it's always I gotta tell you though,
the theme of almost every comment on the I think
forty five hundred comments I have right now. Husbands, it's
all the basic They're like, yep, these guys go out
and they're like, oh, I'm in I'm in charge of
the Easter eg hunt. Get ready. The bunny ain't got
nothing own me.
Speaker 1 (14:52):
You won't find these until the turn of the century.
These are going to be out there.
Speaker 2 (14:56):
I like it, all right. Did you do an Easter
egg hunt over the weekend? Any fun stories from your Easter?
Maybe something cute the kids did? We'd love to hear
about it. Six one, six, four, five, eight, five seven.
Here are the facts with human torch was denied at.
Speaker 1 (15:09):
Bankl over head nine Gotchadine. All right, So let's save
you a little time from clicking on these at work
at some point today it is the week's best headbine.
Speaker 2 (15:17):
Actually, this one is worth clicking on because I love
peacocks and I want this to happen to me so badly.
A fabulous feathered friend was caught on the loose in Philadelphia.
The best part of this is the Facebook post from
acc to acct Philly stepped out onto their front porch
to find a giant peacock sitting there. They're right, This
(15:37):
fabulous feathered friend was spotted strutting through the city lake youd,
brunch reservations and no time to waste. The group said.
The peacock was safely captured and brought back to a rescue.
Speaker 1 (15:47):
Sadbye, so many. Speaking of animals on porches, alligator caught
on camera ringing doorbell? Where else would this be? Beshides, Florida?
Where yes? Or ring doorbell? And Ava Maria, Florida captured
two gay here's literally.
Speaker 2 (16:00):
Climbering two right, not one, two of them.
Speaker 1 (16:03):
Climbing up the door attempting to get into the house.
I mean you were told we would see you later. Relax,
It's no big deal.
Speaker 2 (16:11):
Got crosswalk buttons in Seattle were tampered with to play
a spoof recording of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos.
Speaker 4 (16:21):
Hi, I'm Jeff Bezos. This crosswalk is sponsored by Amazon
Prime with an important message. You know, please please don't
tax the rich, otherwise all the other billionaires will move
to Florida too.
Speaker 1 (16:33):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (16:33):
It was just after a similar prank occurred in California,
where crosswalks were tampered with Mark Zuckerberg's boys.
Speaker 1 (16:40):
All right over a dozen A dozen Bosman police officers
caught plane crime bingo on duty. Thirteen Bozeman officers, including
two sergeants, found and participated on duty. They have been
suspended for a couple of weeks. Here is that Bozeman
in Montana? Where do you think? What do you think
would be on a police officer crime bingo?
Speaker 2 (17:02):
Karch many Probably nothing politically correct.
Speaker 1 (17:05):
I've seen enough episodes of cop to know that arresting
someone without a shirt on definitely on there.
Speaker 2 (17:09):
Aye, I love this. A pair of Nashville artists have
started an online petition to rename the city's airport Dolly Parton.
Oh that's it, that's the story, because everyone should sign it.
I would really like to fly into Dolly Parton.
Speaker 1 (17:23):
Ad Bye sch Bety Virginia flagged banned in Texas district
because of frontal nudity. The State of Virginia's half bare
chested female flag has been banned in this Texas school district.
And they will not do their section about the State
of Virginia because of the nudity.
Speaker 2 (17:44):
I mean, depending on what grade.
Speaker 1 (17:45):
Level I get it well in Texas. There are now
forty nine states in the US. That's this week's headlines.
You see any great ones out there, always sent them
our away, all right. Hits up at West Michigan stock
It's the celebrity scoop on Star one oh five point.
Speaker 2 (18:01):
Seven Christians around the world in morning this Easter Monday.
After news broke earlier this morning that Pope Francis, the
first Latin American pope, the first Jesuit Pope, has passed
away at the age of eighty eight. Those bells are
still ringing at Saint Peter's Square, where crowds have gathered
(18:22):
to show their respects. Growing up in Argentina, Pope Francis
becoming a priest at thirty two, most notably known for
how giving he was to the poor, to those sometimes
felt outcasted by the church. The official announcement coming from
the Vatican at seven thirty five this morning, the Bishop
of Rome Francis returned to the House of the Father.
(18:45):
His entire life was dedicated to the service of the
Lord and his church. Celebrities have started to pop on
social media to give their respect. Woop Goldberg writing, he
was the closest in a long time that seemed to
remember Christ's love and elopes, believers and non believers. He
made that belief real. Sail on Pope Francis with your
(19:07):
love of humanity and laughter. Vice President J. D Vance,
who actually just met with the Pope yesterday, writing my
heart goes out to the millions of Christians all over
the world who loved him. This is what was so surprising.
He did take part in Easter services yesterday. It's the
first really big public appearance we had seen from him
in months. Antonio Banderaz also writing, Pope Francisco has died,
(19:31):
a man who at the head of the Catholic Church
showed kindness, love and mercy to the neediest people. Very
sad this morning. We'll have more details as soon as
the Vatican makes those public.
Speaker 1 (19:43):
I mean certainly something I think that most of the
Catholic Seino loved about Pope Francis is just his continual
outreach to groups that traditionally were kind of shunned.
Speaker 2 (19:51):
By the cat marginalized. Absolutely, Lady Gaga experiencing a bit
of mayhem outside of performing hits off that new out.
Her mic caught out multiple times at her Coachella performance
of course weekend too. Just wrapped up last night outside La,
but handled it like a total pro. This is her
singing abracadabra, and you can hear like major parts of
(20:14):
the song missing because she starts to understand her mic
is not connected. But we'll the devil. Oh yeah, thank
you so much for saying and dancing all night long.
(20:34):
I'm sorry my mic was broken for a second. Please
you know I sing live, like I said, a true pro.
There was a few issues with some of the technical
side of Coachella this weekend, some violence as well, so
I'm not really sure. I heard very mixed reaction online
about it.
Speaker 1 (20:55):
I mean, Gaga, that doesn't surprise me at all. I
love seeing when an artist like that I can kind
of cake over a moment that you would think otherwise
would be hard to do.
Speaker 2 (21:03):
It shows your true professionalism. And finally, Jelly Roll is
sharing one of his most embarrassing moments from a performance.
He was on the Jennifer Hudson Show when she asked him,
what is something that happened to you live that you
will never forget.
Speaker 1 (21:18):
I pooped myself one time.
Speaker 2 (21:22):
I did.
Speaker 1 (21:23):
I'm sorry, listen it was what they call it.
Speaker 2 (21:26):
I did not. I was confident it was all there.
Speaker 1 (21:31):
It was not. I watched this crowd.
Speaker 2 (21:35):
Go from loving me to just being completely out, just
completely out. That's why we love him out there and
I over shared it again. Yeah, that was Luke Bryan
next to him on the couch and you could just
see the audience like, oh, but he said, yeah, I'm
like everybody else. Don't trust the fart.
Speaker 1 (21:53):
Thank you, Jelly rolls lightly. Tom.
Speaker 2 (21:55):
I all right, all of your celeb scoop at West
Michigan Star dot com showing a fine points.
Speaker 1 (21:59):
You have a good morning. It's Mack and Schmidding. It's
time to throw down. Battle of this Sex is looking
to get you in to see our professional women's volleyball team,
our Grand Rapids Rise. Can it be taken on the
Orlando Belkyrisee.
Speaker 2 (22:10):
Yep, this is next Wednesday night. If you have today's
number one answer, We've got four tickets for you. Six one, six, four, five, eight,
one oh five. Seven hundred men surveyed. Name something every
couch potato needs.
Speaker 1 (22:22):
Ooh, gross pair of sweatpants? Right, grease stains.
Speaker 2 (22:24):
The potatoes washed in a wicause, that's how I spent
my easter, y'all sucking down those cheesy potatoes being a
couch potato. Six one, six, four, five eight, one oh
five seven. One hundred men surveyed. Name something every couch
potato needs. That number one answer, You're coming to hang
with me and our Grand Rapids Rise on Star one
oh five point seven Gordon Star.
Speaker 1 (22:46):
Who's this? Teresa SORIESA? How is your Easter returns? How
many jelly beans do you think you've ingested over the
last twenty four hours?
Speaker 2 (22:54):
I don't need them?
Speaker 1 (22:55):
What's that? You don't need them? I don't need them? Wow,
that's willpower that I just don't have. All right, I
think I think there's about a half pound of jelly
bellies just rotting in my gut right now. But I
want to see if we can get you tickets to
our Grand Rapids Rise here. Let's see a hunter, guys,
We're asked to name something that every good couch potato
(23:15):
really needs. What do you think they said? Is their
top answer? Teresa, the remote, the remotes. See, I actually
thought people would go with like the snacks, because in
my head, the snacks definitely make or break a good
couch potato session. However, you gotta have the TV on,
and there's no way I'm getting up. We're way too
lazy for that. The remotes the top answer when it
(23:36):
goes it was remote, followed by drinks, then the couch.
I suppose that is necessary for being a couch potato snacks,
and then TV. We're rounding out those top answers. Right
to go, Theresa. Yeah, I starting out the week with
some grand Rapids Rise tickets for next Wednesday. They'll be
takeing on the Orlando Valkyriz and we'll get you in
(23:57):
all week long. Another chance to win with that The
Sex Tomorrow eight fifteen here on Star what a five
point seven. Yeah, but come go on into you. It's
Mack and Schmidti hoping that you had just an absolutely
phenomenal easter, especially if you got young kids. They just
have so much fun with it. Yeah, but honestly I
do too, Schmidty and the Easter Bunny this year very
(24:19):
creative with where our baskets were hidden. Yes, in our
house we do both. My wife grew up with the
Easter bunny hiding a basket, and I grew up in
a house where they hit the eggs, and so we
sort of just merged our family traditions together. So they
did their Easter egg hunt this year, my kids. That
took a while to do those up there, but then
the baskets come into it. And we have traditionally hidden
(24:39):
our baskets pretty difficult in pretty difficult places to find,
so much in fact, that we have had years where
we've had to stop the basket hunt because attitudes were failing.
Things were getting too difficult, and you know, they wouldn't
take hints. My kids are pretty competitive. They like things
like this until they don't.
Speaker 2 (24:58):
I'll play the hot and cold game and wrap that
in like five minutes.
Speaker 1 (25:01):
I just have to give a shout out though, this
year to the Easter Bunny because they went above and
beyond and it took my kids two hours. This year,
I got to find their.
Speaker 2 (25:10):
Easter bast stuck with it that long.
Speaker 1 (25:12):
We asked if they wanted I would not. We were
trying to see if they would do the hot or
colder thing. They wanted nothing to do with it. They
wanted the challenge. In Schmitty, they both woke up less
than ten feet away from their Easter you.
Speaker 2 (25:26):
Knew, so you guys knew where the bunny had had
popped it in.
Speaker 1 (25:29):
Okay, the easter bunny had popped in here, Schmitty and
the Easter bunny somehow managed to get them into their
bedrooms without them ever waking up during it.
Speaker 2 (25:40):
And it took two hours.
Speaker 1 (25:41):
They never even considered the bedroom to be a possibility
because how how would the easter bunny get in there
without waking them up? Smitty, There's just no way. However, seemingly,
rabbits are very very crafty. They're obviously quick, so I
can only assume that the Easter bunny, sort of like
the tooth fairy, has those to get in there, Spitty,
because they were both in their bedrooms, in their closets,
(26:04):
hidden in you know, sort of plain sight, and yet
we spent two hours looking for them.
Speaker 2 (26:09):
The basket worth the two hours they.
Speaker 1 (26:11):
Thought it was. As I tell the kids, it's the journey.
It's the journey to get there some because I get
a good Well, let'suppose a positivity out there to start
out this Monday with feeling good. Right now, what's going on?
Speaker 2 (26:29):
Well, we know we love Sandy's Donuts, one of our
favorite spots on the West Side and Grand Rapids, and
thanks to a left behind stuffy they came up with
an incredible idea for a donation drive to our amazing
Helen de Bos Children's Hospital. The idea came to someone
at Sandy's when someone left behind their stuffed pop Randy.
(26:51):
Sandy's posted to their social media page in an attempt
to find Randy's owner. In response, kids started showing up
to Sandy's Donuts with their own own stuffed animal, so
Randy wouldn't have to be alone at the shop. With
this overflow of friends and love, Lindsay, owner of Sandy's Donuts,
decided this could be pretty cool and organized a stuffed
(27:13):
animal donation drive in order to share that love with
the kids at Helen DeVos Children's Hospital. Best part, Randy
did make it home to her owner and now the
kids at Helena Oas have a bunch of brand new
plush stuffies. Thinks of the incredible West Michigan community. I
just thought that was so fun.
Speaker 1 (27:29):
That is awesome. Sandy and Randy belong together. I like that,
all right, chmiddy, this is really cool and also a
local business ingraining themselves here in our West Michigan community.
Even though they've only been opened for a couple of
months now, all aro on the west side of Grand Rapids.
Yesterday Bridge Street Bar gave out hundreds of Eastern meals
to those in need. Now. It's interesting if you haven't
(27:50):
heard of it. That's because they've been opened for less
than two months. Owner Rob Wall just started up Bridge
Street Bar right across from Bridge Street Market, and you know,
he just knows how many people are experiencing tough time.
I said, homelessness over there, so he said the need.
I just see it every day coming down here. I
don't think a lot of things are done on Easter.
There's probably a lot more on Thanksgiving and Christmas especially.
I feel like Easter might get missed, so I wanted
(28:12):
to include it. So he and his staff took to
the kitchen, cooked over two hundred meals and then each
box said, you know, all the fixen's hand mashed potatoes,
corn and bread and they handed them out through their
walk up window to whoever needed a meal yesterday. So
for a new business just getting a foothold here in
West Michigan, I wanted to shout out Bridge Street Bar
for giving back.
Speaker 2 (28:32):
Really good example.
Speaker 1 (28:34):
Definitely feeling good. Always here to tell you about awesome
things happening, especially when they're in our community. Like both
