Speaker 1 (00:03):
Wake up. It gets my day going and makes me laugh.
It Mac and Schmitty in the morning on Star one
oh five point seven. I got order Schmitty. H Happy Monday,
Happy Monday, I may say, a very sweet Monday is
in order for a Schmitty.
Speaker 2 (00:21):
Yeah, spoiler alert, Michigan State One, if you did stay
up for yet another night game, how is it that
we got a Friday and a Sunday night game?
Speaker 1 (00:31):
Beautiful, wasn't it? And then like you're giving you a
reprieve because it only started it at almost nine o'clock
last night as opposed to ten.
Speaker 2 (00:39):
I don't know if you guys saw the viral video
I shared on my Facebook at Schmidt in the mid
when Tom Izzo was doing his postgame interview on Friday
night and the reporter said, you know, it was a
great win against Bryant, how are you feeling with New
Mexico coming up Sunday at eight forty?
Speaker 3 (00:55):
And he just puts his heads in his head.
Speaker 2 (00:58):
In his hands, like you gotta be kidding me, And
I think all of pure Michigan is like, I.
Speaker 3 (01:03):
Know, Tom, I know they're given us another night game.
Speaker 2 (01:06):
So if you went to bed like I did at
eleven thirty last night, We're gonna get through it together.
Speaker 4 (01:10):
Right, Movies, music, and all the gossip in one place.
Speaker 1 (01:15):
It's the celebrities gooop on Star one oh five point seven.
Speaker 2 (01:19):
Well, the rumors have been flying for a couple months,
but over the weekend it was confirmed by the couple
Tiger Woods and Vanessa Trump are officially dating. Tiger is
sharing multiple pictures to his ex account, including one where
the two are looking very loved up and cuddled, and
in a message, Tiger rates, love is in the air
(01:41):
and life is better with you by my side. We
look forward to our journey through life together. At this time,
we would appreciate privacy to all those close to our hearts.
There had been some rumors, like I said, flying, the
two were somewhat a couple, but this is the official confirmation.
Apparently the two started dating back around Thanksgiving. You'll remember
(02:04):
Vanessa was actually married to Donald Trump Junior from two
thousand and five to twenty eighteen, while Tiger, of course
was married to Swedish model Elin Nordgrend. So this is
kind of the first really really major relationship for both
of them in quite some time.
Speaker 1 (02:19):
Really interesting to see him go public like this. I
always find it interesting when people get divorced but then
keep their same old last name, specifically women. Obviously that
happens more often with paperwork. Do whatever, it's paperwork, you
think it is the easiest reason I can.
Speaker 2 (02:33):
Tell you from trying to change my last name, and
it's the real pain. Speaking of love in the air,
it looks like it's finally happening. Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos
and Lauren Sanchez are getting set to walk down the aisle,
according to multiple reports, after a two year engagement, the
jet setting couple has been sending out wedding invites saying
(02:54):
they plan to tie the not this summer in Italy.
It's been quite a whirlwind romance for the since twenty nineteen,
and they have been fighting rumors for the last year
and a half about getting married ever since Jeff proposed
to her back in twenty twenty three. No further details
on this, but weird, I did not know this. I
(03:14):
knew that Jeff had previously been married to Mackenzie Scott
for almost twenty five years. I had no idea he
had four kids.
Speaker 1 (03:21):
Oh really, yeah, I don't ever hear about the visa.
Speaker 2 (03:23):
Oh yeah, sow further details. Since we know more about
that now, let's get to the wild. Video from Walt
Disney World over the weekend a very scary situation when
a fire broke out backstage at Epcot. Video shared on
social media Saturday showed a dark plume of smoke billowing
(03:44):
from the Orlando theme park, guests actually recording it in
absolute shock as they were taking some of the trams.
Speaker 3 (03:50):
Into the park.
Speaker 1 (03:55):
WHOA, that's right there.
Speaker 2 (03:59):
Disney staff saying some people were forced to evacuate. Remy's Ran,
a two week adventure, which I've always heard is one
of the coolest rides. The timing not great, as this
is just the start of peak spring break season. Officials
say no injuries from the situation, and as of this morning,
I do believe parts of Epcot were reopened, but I
(04:20):
believe the entire park had to be closed for this.
Speaker 1 (04:22):
I gotta tell you two things. One, I wanted to
go on Remy and we couldn't because the line was
still standing long. Two, that place is all packed in together,
where all the buildings are sort of connected, and I
feel like everything is made of wood. When I saw
the story of the weekend, I was like Oh my gosh,
that's a tinderbox.
Speaker 2 (04:39):
I mean, have you did you see the billowing smoke
and the flames. It was really insane. The video is
up for you with your scoop at West Michigan Star
dot com.
Speaker 1 (04:48):
Sometimes because I'd get a good feeling ye starting a
fine points seventy and I was sure in Michigan and
Michigan State fans feeling pretty good about heading to the
Sweet sixteen. But there was a lot to get you
feel and good if you're watching the tournament, and especially
a moment on Friday that has gone fine role because
he just kind of encapsulates the fact that this is
still a game being played by young men by being
(05:09):
played by kids. And it was in the Liberty Oregon
game at the end, not much to play for opening
round game, and it was not closed organ Ducks winning
by twenty nine points in the final minute of that
second or excuse me, of the first round of the tournament.
Well rather than kind of mailing it in, which is
likely to be free of any kind of dramatics or
(05:30):
foul since the score was so blopsided, there was a
player sitting waiting to enter the game, and referee Roger
Ayers noticed that the kid from Liberty was sitting there
waiting to come in and recognize the moment that if
he didn't stop the play, there's a good chance the
kid would never get in the game, and there's a
(05:51):
possibility that they would never be able to play in
the NCAA tournament. So he decided that there was a
wet spot on the floor. These guys don't know a full.
Speaker 3 (06:01):
Gift time to me at sublaw tournament.
Speaker 2 (06:04):
I like the Roger Rick to stop the game, to
get the seventh well man get in here, to get
his opportunity.
Speaker 1 (06:10):
To play up. That's certain. Here's the thing, there was
no wet spot. He completely faked the whole thing just
to get the player in there. They were running the
clock down, and he knew that that was his last chance.
Such a cool move to do, and that abled J. C. Shear,
a red shirt freshman shire Excuse me, thank you Schmetti
forgetting those game minutes and really cool story to have
(06:33):
for the rest of his life and tell his family
because that's important.
Speaker 2 (06:35):
I mean, now he'll be listed in the box tournament score.
Really neat cool, look good dude. All right, speaking of
so much of this basketball action, Let's take it back
a week to the SEC women's basketball tournament. A famed
Texas women's basketball coach so impressed by a trio of
student journalists who drove more than sixteen hours to cover
(06:59):
their team, he offered to be a reference on their resume.
Vick Shaeffer is a very very well known name head
coach of women's basketball at the University of Texas at Austin,
and he noticed the trio of young reporters for the
school's student paper, The Daily Texan, drove over one thousand
miles from Austin to Greenville, South Carolina to cover this
(07:22):
tournament and took time out of his press conference.
Speaker 5 (07:25):
So, if I'm not mistaken, are y'all my three that
drove sixteen hours? Yes, sir, I want you all to
know when it comes time to get a job, you
put me on your resume.
Speaker 1 (07:35):
That's really unique.
Speaker 5 (07:37):
And I'm proud that you guys are here, and I'm
proud that you take enough pride in your job that
you would do that because you don't have to do that,
and I think people need to know that.
Speaker 1 (07:47):
So thank you for being here.
Speaker 3 (07:49):
Isn't that cool?
Speaker 2 (07:49):
When you were into the comments people were sharing stories
about just story after story of coach Schaeffer being a really,
really great guy and the team ended up losing, and
he still took that time out to be like, this
is pretty incredible.
Speaker 1 (08:03):
Yeah, to see the reward for that dedication, pretty cool.
Speaker 6 (08:06):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (08:07):
Feeling good coming on you a couple times a day.
We'll lift you up again this morning, coming up at
nine twenty.
Speaker 4 (08:11):
Here on Stock Movies, music and all the gossip in
one place.
Speaker 1 (08:15):
It's the celebritiescoop on Star one oh five point seven.
Speaker 2 (08:19):
Well, the news broke late Friday. Boxing legend George Foreman
has passed away at the age of seventy six. Big George,
as a lot of people knew him, a two time
heavyweight champion participating in some of the biggest boxing events
of all time. He burst out of the scene in
the nineteen sixty eight Summer Olympics in Mexico City, where
(08:40):
he won gold. Turned pro in nineteen seventy three, of course,
at twenty five, facing Mohammad Ali in one of the
most memorable boxing matches ever, coined the Rumble in the Jungle,
Ali winning that by eighth round TKO. But as people
point out years later, the men became exceptionally close. In fact,
(09:02):
when Muhammad Ali passed in twenty sixteen, George said, I
lost my best friend outside of the ring. You knew
him as the lean main grilling machine inventor.
Speaker 1 (09:15):
Had a busy day. My lean mean fedroducing grilling machine
is great. To come home to it. Lets you prepare
a hot, delicious meals in just minutes. My excell launche
grill with keimper to control it is a knockout.
Speaker 3 (09:27):
That's right now.
Speaker 2 (09:28):
Besides that, his family said, a humanitarian and olympian, a
two time heavyweight champion of the world, he was deeply respected,
a force for good, a man of discipline, conviction, and
a protector of his legacy, fighting tirelessly to preserve his
good name. For his family, we honor the extraordinary life
(09:49):
of a man we were blessed to call our own again.
George Foreman passing away at seventy six.
Speaker 3 (09:56):
I mean fils young.
Speaker 1 (09:57):
Crazy to think of the life that that guy led
to the most iconic moments in sports history, and then
you know got me through college Jumpanini's really really.
Speaker 3 (10:05):
So good to put his name on it.
Speaker 2 (10:07):
Justin Bieber all about self reflection these days that includes
another post we saw over the weekend, talking about keeping.
Speaker 3 (10:15):
His anger in check. It's very interesting.
Speaker 2 (10:18):
It's just a selfie of him with a hood up
that reads I got anger issues too, but I want
to grow and not react so much, shaking my head,
followed by a post where he writes, I think I
hate myself sometimes when I feel myself start to become inauthentic.
Then I remember we're all being made to think we're
not enough. I still hate it, though, and I change
(10:38):
myself to please people. But he also shared some never
before seen pictures of his son Jack, so a lot
of fans pointing out that it seems like this journey
of self awareness and reinvention has everything to do with
him being a new dad.
Speaker 1 (10:54):
I hope so, because like all this stuff coming online
feels like the need for validation from strangers or to
get some sort of feedback there, and I just don't
feel like that could be helping him in his.
Speaker 3 (11:05):
He makes good.
Speaker 2 (11:06):
Like if you read through the comments, he is getting
a lot of positivity back from fans. Finally, you will
never guess who wants to help reunite estranged brothers Prince
William and Prince Harry it's none other than Snoop dog Uh.
The rapper who actually lives very close to the Duke
and Duchess of Sussex in their la home, has said
(11:27):
he would be more than happy to act as peacemaker,
so he's talking to the Mirror. In a new interview,
he said, Harry and William I've known for a long
time now. Harry actually asked me to perform at William's
bachelor party, but I couldn't make it anything they want
to perform at now I am there. He adds they're brothers, man,
(11:47):
Anything that gets them in the same room and being
brothers again will be worth it. Life is way too
short to not make things right, and if Snoop can
help heal that relationship, let's do it.
Speaker 1 (11:58):
I mean, honestly, if William or Harry hear that message,
they got to be like, all right, let's just bury
the headget so we can hang with Cavy.
Speaker 2 (12:04):
Come on, all of your celeb Scoop at West Michigan start.
Speaker 1 (12:09):
Back and schmitty And not all projects are a couple
of projects.
Speaker 3 (12:11):
Huh No, And apparently this one is not.
Speaker 2 (12:14):
Have you guys ever hung a picture wall a picture
gallery wall? I have not, and apparently my husband Chris
and I attack this in a very different way. So
what kind of picture gallery wall did you do?
Speaker 1 (12:27):
Like?
Speaker 3 (12:27):
How many pictures?
Speaker 2 (12:28):
Were they? Different sizes, different textures? Was it a huge wall?
Speaker 1 (12:32):
Yes, different sizes, different colors, different spots on the walls.
Speaker 2 (12:35):
Because I had friends of mine that were like, woved
on that, and then I saw the wall and I
was like, you hung five pictures. I'm talking like, we're
gonna have between fifteen and eighteen pictures we're hanging.
Speaker 1 (12:45):
Okay, that's a bunch. We probably have about a dozen.
Speaker 3 (12:47):
So we're doing this.
Speaker 2 (12:49):
That was my whole big plan for yesterday because we
had nothing going on and this project has been hanging
over me for almost a year now. I knew exactly
what I wanted to do this with this wall as
soon as we moved, and I figured, like, it's just
gonna be throwing three m hooks up there, so why
don't we just kind of start doing it. Chris was like,
(13:10):
I'm sorry, are you kidding me? He goes, there's construction
paper downstairs. We will map this out. We will then
move it to the wall where we will be able
to move pieces of paper around and then I will
be getting dry wall anchor hooks.
Speaker 1 (13:21):
Yeah, like just.
Speaker 2 (13:22):
Entirely different things. And I was like, that sounds like
it's gonna take days. I want this done in like
forty minutes. So I found this gentleman online. Nick Lewis
is his name. He actually runs a really fantastic interior
design YouTube channel. And you have to understand the scene
that Chris and I have just gotten done arguing about
this for like twenty minutes, and he goes, listen, Okay,
just bring up a YouTube video how to and we'll
(13:45):
go from there. But I think I think you're going
to be shocked to what people tell you to do.
The first thing on this guy's video.
Speaker 1 (13:51):
Which leads me to my first don't of gallery walls,
which is, don't just start putting stuff on the wall.
Speaker 2 (13:57):
I mean, Chris absolutely melts down. He is on the
floor cackling, and he's like, I told you, I told you, so,
I've got pictures spread all over the living room floor,
we're cutting construction paper, we're doing the whole thing, and
I'm just sitting there seething. He's I cannot stand when
he's right, especially about home projects. Yeah, I mean, and
(14:19):
Chris is so good at home projects that I'm just like, so,
what did we do yesterday?
Speaker 3 (14:24):
Nothing.
Speaker 2 (14:24):
We did not put anything on the wall, We did
not get anything figured out because he thinks we need
two more of these kinds of frames to balance out
the other frames.
Speaker 3 (14:33):
And so I am going to wait for him to
leave for.
Speaker 2 (14:35):
A weekend and I'm just gonna throw it up there
because I've put it on my list of projects that
I can no longer do with my spouse, and anyone
who is married has an absolute list of those.
Speaker 1 (14:46):
My question for you is if you do do that,
if you say you know, I'm not waiting for mister
order and instructions. We're putting this up and he gets
home and he sees it and he wants to redo
it himself. Are you cool with it? Or are you saying, like,
don't touch it.
Speaker 2 (15:00):
I have a hundred percent expecting him to tear it
all down. I just but as a as an very
emotional aries who does not like being wrong, I will
put it there just to add the work out of
pure petty. So I put this on our Facebook and
you can see a little, uh well preview of what
I'm hoping The gallery wall looks like that's not Chris.
Speaker 1 (15:19):
Just putt just put photos of you and the kids.
Did it leave him? Right?
Speaker 2 (15:24):
I put this up and I asked a project you'll
never do again with your partner. And I'm not sure
what happened with Abby, but all she posted was plan
a wedding.
Speaker 3 (15:35):
There's got to be a story there.
Speaker 2 (15:36):
But at the same time, girl, if you had a
man that was even slightly interested in what you were
doing for your wedding planning, that's a win.
Speaker 1 (15:44):
I just was like making a buffet open bar.
Speaker 3 (15:47):
Chris said, what time is it and where do I
get my suit? Six?
Speaker 2 (15:50):
One six, four five eight one oh five seven. I
want to hear the projects that are a no go
with your partner or spouse. You did it once, never again?
Life lesson in marriage.
Speaker 1 (16:02):
Here are the.
Speaker 3 (16:03):
Facts with human Torch was denied a bank loader head.
Speaker 1 (16:07):
Catcha all right, let's get to the news. Nobody really
needs kick us off with our first.
Speaker 3 (16:12):
Ted bi ooh, how embarrassing.
Speaker 2 (16:14):
An Air France flight was forced to turn around and
declare an emergency after a passenger lost their phone. They
were one hour into a nine hour journey from Paris
to Guadalupe. Apparently their safety concerns over the phone's lithium
ion battery catching fire. They had to turn it around
(16:36):
and go back to Paris, find the phone, then take
off again, reach their destination almost five hours late.
Speaker 1 (16:43):
No way, I'm getting on board that flight again. Not
a chance, ad Bi. She met a serial bank robber
and crime novelist allegedly added again. Serial bank robber who
also reads crime novels in their spare time, was arrested
in Detroit. Dorian Trevor Sykes arrested after Robert I two
Detroit area financial institutions a year after getting out of
(17:04):
jail for doing the same thing in his spare time.
Though he writes crime novels like King of Detroit, The
Good Life and Born to Die Are Life. I mean,
they say, right, what you know.
Speaker 2 (17:15):
Dangerous or misunderstood? A Kansas man wants to legalize raccoons
as pets.
Speaker 1 (17:21):
You know what, I would have thought this was silly,
but then you know, you go down the raccoon tick
ticktock wormhol Schmitt, and pretty soon you're like, you know,
that could be pretty cute.
Speaker 3 (17:31):
Yeah, I mean, who's who's worried about rabies?
Speaker 1 (17:34):
Man granted dying wish to be buried in Snickers coffin.
A British man known for his sense of humor, Paul Broome,
had joked for years, Well he got his wish. He
was buried in a coffin that looked just like a
Snicker's candy rapper. It said, instead of saying Snickers, it
just said I'm nuts on it. Schmitty. Oh there ausho
(17:54):
was not nuked in the middle of that thing, just saying.
Speaker 3 (17:57):
Abe all right.
Speaker 2 (17:58):
A Disney World rock I had to be stopped after
a dad left the log with his son to take
a look around. Yeah, this happened on Tiana's Bayou Adventure.
Apparently a dad and his son decided to jump out
of the log. The ride had to be paused for
more than ten minutes, for a full thirty to forty
minute delay.
Speaker 3 (18:20):
Apparently, facebooks that the man started.
Speaker 2 (18:22):
Shining his phone flashlight around because they got lost and
he couldn't find the exit out of the water ride.
Speaker 1 (18:28):
That's a dad move, sch Beni. This is an update
on a story we gave you. Man who swallowed diamonds
finally passes the evidence two weeks later. So you might
remember a man who got arrested for swallowing seven hundred
and fifty thousand dollars Tiffany diamond earrings. Well, it took
two weeks, but he finally passed him. Here was the
(18:49):
weird part. There were two more diamond earrings and police
have no idea where they came from or why he swallowed.
Speaker 3 (18:56):
Oh you need met a musical?
Speaker 1 (18:58):
He's got expensive tasa yet. Yes, that's this week's best headlines.
You see great ones out there Cinamar Way at West Michigan, Star.
Speaker 4 (19:07):
Movies, music, and all the gossip in one place.
Speaker 1 (19:11):
It's the celebrities gup on Star one oh five point seven.
Speaker 2 (19:15):
Well, if you're a fan of the show Impractical Jokers,
one of its biggest stars is being accused of sexual harassment.
Joe Gotto is acknowledging he exercised poor judgment, but is
denying a TikTok user's claims of assault. So a TikTok
user known as Juicy be alleged in a series of
(19:36):
viral videos that Goto assaulted her back in twenty twenty
three when she was just nineteen. Goto said in a
statement over the weekend, I've used poor judgment and as
a result, have violated the trust of the people I
love most, But anyone who knows me at all knows
full well that I wouldn't assault anyone. He added, working
(19:57):
on myself is an ongoing process, and I am now
going to take some time away from the public eye
to focus my energies where I need to. So that
was early on Sunday. Then later yesterday a second allegation
came out.
Speaker 3 (20:12):
He was accused of.
Speaker 2 (20:13):
Behaving inappropriately toward one of his former employees. So People
magazine publishing the story yesterday, citing an anonymous woman who
claims she worked for Joe while he was on Impractical Jokers,
and she's saying he acted in a way she describes
as sexual harassment. The woman says she first met Goda
when she was fifteen, but once she turned eighteen, his
(20:36):
behavior toward her changed and became much more flirtatious. She's
claiming Godda would ask for back massages, invite her to
his room to cuddle, and allegedly asked frequent questions about
her intimate life. He would become frustrated when she would
refuse his advances, and then would treat her rudely when
(20:57):
she would reject him. Now People's sources don't provide any
physical proof to back these allegations, and Goto has also
denied these allegations to people. So far, him and his
rep have not officially come out on this second allegation,
but I would not expect to see him in the
show anytime soon.
Speaker 1 (21:14):
Yeah, I'm going to take an extended leave of absence,
like I don't know, maybe forever. Yeah, that seems like
what's happening.
Speaker 3 (21:20):
So I don't think this.
Speaker 2 (21:21):
Was purposeful, but some very interesting knowledge dropped over the
weekend surrounding the movie Wicked. So I'll take you back
during the press tour when Cynthia Arrivo and Ariana Grande
were discussing the chance to start together in this huge movie,
talking a lot about the song Defying Gravity. In one
(21:42):
certain interview, Cynthia had been asked, are you excited that
it was Ariana Grande cast? Cynthia said, there was no
surprise whatsoever. I said, thank God, thank goodness, because it
was not the two ladies that I was auditioning with.
We didn't know, oh who those two ladies were until
over the weekend when Mama Mia star Amanda Sayefried admitted
(22:07):
she was one of the two actresses that actually got
to sing with Cynthia.
Speaker 6 (22:12):
I you know, I knew it was coming, so I
was able to really prepare. And I'm telling you, I've
never felt that solid in my voice than I did
at the auditions. And that's kind of the that's kind
of what I got out of it. I do again
think everything happens for a reason. I mean, that's what
we listened to define gravity every day.
Speaker 1 (22:32):
I'm glad it's not ruined for you. I'm glad it's
still a happy thing.
Speaker 6 (22:35):
Oh oh my god. It's funny though, Like I also
got to sing with Cynthia and like that was a
moment in itself.
Speaker 3 (22:42):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (22:42):
That was from the Happy, Sad, Confused podcast and this
immediately hit my TikTok on Saturday with people going, oh,
apparently Cynthia didn't think she was very good.
Speaker 3 (22:54):
And I don't think Cynthia ever thought those names were
going to get out into the public.
Speaker 1 (22:58):
Uh. Kind of funny right there, I do. I would think,
you know, if you're Amanda you lost out to Ariana
Garande in a singing role, I don't think you could
be too upset with yourself.
Speaker 3 (23:06):
All right.
Speaker 2 (23:07):
Finally, Taylor Swift is back on Instagram after quite a
long break, focusing all of her energy on her longtime.
Speaker 3 (23:15):
Pal Selena Gomez.
Speaker 2 (23:17):
This is all for the big album dropped with Selena
and Benny Blanco, that new album I said I Love
you first. Taylor is a huge fan. She was off
Instagram for a hundred days. Her last post was in December,
where she was honoring her final eras tour concert. She
posted the album said Selena Gomez Benny Blanco, I love
(23:41):
this album so much.
Speaker 3 (23:43):
Oh my God.
Speaker 2 (23:45):
With about seventeen d's, which is not surprising. Taylor and
Selena are exceptionally close. But leave it to swift Us
to turn this into some drama because they have pointed
out that Taylor has continued to stay completely silent on
supposed best friend Blake lived least legal drama, And remember,
she did not refute any of those stories about her
allegedly being pretty upset that Blake dragged her into the
(24:07):
legal proceedings and that she might be subpoenut.
Speaker 1 (24:09):
Yeah, I mean, from her perspective, what does she have
to gain by talking about that. I don't think it's
good for you.
Speaker 3 (24:16):
Decide for yourself.
Speaker 2 (24:17):
I've got it up for you with your scoop at
West Michigan Star dot Com.
Speaker 1 (24:20):
Star Foint seven. It's Mack and Schmidti and I always

Speaker 3 (24:33):
This is a seven pm match.
Speaker 2 (24:35):
It's going to be so much fun and one of
your stay up late nights with the kids. Go ahead
and guest today's number one answer, and I've got your tickets.
One hundred men surveyed. Name a place where you can
be bothered by the person sitting behind you?
Speaker 1 (24:49):
The name a place from bothered clicking in the car,
every single place I drive to when my kids are
sitting bying me?
Speaker 3 (24:55):
All right? Six one, six four or five eight one
oh five seven. One hundred men surveyed.
Speaker 2 (24:59):
Name of where you can be bothered by the person
sitting behind you?
Speaker 3 (25:04):
Number one answer, and you're going to the Grand Rapids Rise.
Speaker 1 (25:07):
You would start with a five twenty seven, Good morning Star.
Who's this Whitney, Whitney, Let's see if we can get
you into our Grand Rapids Rise. Gotta tell me one
hundred guys were asked to name a place where you're
sometimes gonna get bothered by the person who is sitting
behind you. What do you think that top answer is there, Whitney.
Speaker 4 (25:24):
We're gonna go with a movie theater.
Speaker 1 (25:26):
You're going with the movie theater. See, I was thinking
right off the bad people were gonna go with airplane
because always the paint of the butt when somebody's shoving
their knees into the back of your seat, or they
get angry at you because you decided you would take
all of that one inch that your seat unless you
recline and go back and they somehow take it personal.
Either way, it's always annoying. But you know what, it's
(25:49):
a good thing. You said. We are gonna go with movies.
Who who's we?
Speaker 4 (25:53):
Me and my two kids, Claire and Carter.
Speaker 1 (25:56):
Claire and Carter, Well Claire, Carter, Whitney, You're all going
to the Grand Rapids Rise because movies is the tenser.
So yeah, somebody chatting it up in the back of
right behind you while you're trying to watch the movies.
Always annoying. Congratulations, guys, thank you so much. You are
very welcome. Rise tickets all week long. Right here when
(26:18):
we play Battle of the Sexes again tomorrow eight fifteen
here on Star one oh five point seven, she's doing
a fine points. Yeah, A good morning to you. It's
Mack and Schmidding. Welcome into your Monday morning. And of course,
you know a lot of competition going on right now,
a lot of competition. Talk with the NCAA tournaments and
you know you're doing brackets with maybe coworkers and family
(26:39):
competition in general. It's a good thing. Spirit of competition.
I love when my kids get competitive about things, but
there are certain things that just have no business being
a competition that we all turn into competitions. I just
want to know from you, what is something that is
definitely not competitive, but you make it competitive and maybe
all of us do. And I noticed this yesterday when
(27:01):
I was at Costco Connor and I my son that
we went on a run to go grab some little things,
and there were multiple situations that came up that I
realize I have turned everything into a game with my
kids in a competition. It started at McDonald's. We were
stopping off for grabbing a quick lunch at a burger
and you know how they have the double drive through lanes. Well,
(27:22):
I pulled up at the same time as a car
pulled into the drive through lane that is next to it,
so we're basically ordering roughly at the same time. I'm sorry,
but that's a competition. When you get in line like that,
I want to get my order in first because I
want to be in front of that car.
Speaker 2 (27:38):
Hot hack, buddy, use the app pull up seven seven
four Q and you go.
Speaker 3 (27:43):
I've never won time using I drive through and over
a year. Really, Oh, it's such a great.
Speaker 1 (27:47):
Th that's wild. I've never used an that for it.
Maybe I'll have to do that.
Speaker 3 (27:50):
You'll get that person time.
Speaker 1 (27:52):
But then it goes forward from there because then I
go to Costco and I stop, and I always go
get my gas. And that's the same thing. You're picking
which of those six or seven different lanes that they
have is gonna move fastest for you and what side
of the car, because I can apparently never remember every
single time I have to look at that stupid thing
next to your gas meter there. But like we do
(28:14):
that and I pull in right next to it, and
we're basically measuring whether I get to the gas pump
before another car that pulled in at the same time
as me. It's the register at Costco. These are not
competitive situations, so man, it's a Sunday.
Speaker 3 (28:27):
Take a breath.
Speaker 4 (28:28):
Jeez.
Speaker 1 (28:30):
Do you have things though that in your head turn
into competitions even though they definitely should not.
Speaker 2 (28:34):
I probably every drive in the morning on one thirty one, Yeah,
because at the time I drive in, I'm coming in
with all of the third ship factory workers.
Speaker 3 (28:43):
And you're not going ninety You're not.
Speaker 1 (28:46):
Going finding parking spots getting that perfect That's a game
that you always are playing in life, right Like, I'm sorry,
but I always want to get a parking spot. If
my wife points one out that's sort of close, I'm like, no,
there's not a chance I'm taking that spot. We're so
much better of a family than this. Honey. Let's pull forward.
Speaker 2 (29:07):
You take one next to the car corral, don't you
by the whole side of your car's dinged up and
looking like trash.
Speaker 1 (29:12):
My car's not that nice, MIITTI. I'm not afraid. If
it means victory, I'm willing to make the sacrifice sometime.
Speaker 6 (29:22):
Does get a.
Speaker 1 (29:25):
Let's dive into it. Feeling good right now? On starting
oh five point seven what's you bring in today, Smittie.
Speaker 3 (29:29):
Well, I'm so excited to see this.
Speaker 2 (29:31):
Months after a young hockey player checked in at Mary
Free Bed, he has earned his tap out. Eleven year
old Mason Madden has been at Mary Free Bed for
months working through his rehabilitation. It all started in January
of last year when he started suffering some leg pain
while playing for the Grand Valley Stars.
Speaker 3 (29:52):
He absolutely adores hockey.
Speaker 2 (29:54):
At first, his parents thought it might be a leg
injury and they spent most of last year trying to
f you're it out. That's when he checked into Helen
Devoz Children's Hospital and they found a tumor on his
spinal court. After emergency surgery to remove the tumor, Mason
has spent the last few months relearning how to walk
and do everyday tests. His goal now not just to
(30:19):
walk again, but to get back out on that ice,
and that's how he was greeted on Friday as he
officially checked out of Mary Free Bed. The halls were
lined with staff, including a couple members from the Grandville
varsity hockey team, giving him the tap out.
Speaker 3 (30:38):
He deserved very cool stuff.
Speaker 2 (30:43):
His mom and dad talking with Wood TV saying they
are just blown away by the support system that they've seen,
the love from the community.
Speaker 3 (30:52):
It's positively phenomenal.
Speaker 2 (30:54):
Mason even got to play a little sled hockey with
some Grand Rapids Griffin's Earth last week.
Speaker 3 (31:01):
While he does enjoy the.
Speaker 2 (31:02):
Sled hockey, it's back on the ice fully that he wants.
Even if you think you're strong, says mom. Everybody always
needs some help and this was a pretty cool moment
to show everyone coming together for.
Speaker 1 (31:14):
That love to see it. I mean, he's gotten so
much support, hockey players for all over the community coming
to visit him.
Speaker 3 (31:20):
There, great video. Yeah, West Michigan Star dot com.
Speaker 1 (31:24):
Schmitty We've been sipping on it here in West Michigan
for thirty three years now and we celebrate today Oberonday.
Schmitte is upon us the annual celebration. Of course I
didn't realize this, but it's such a big part of
Bell's overall business. It accounts for its thir a third
of its business to this day. Just Oberon, pretty cool
(31:44):
Oberon day today, gonna be big crowds there at Kalamazoo,
all sorts of fair theme, carnival games, live music going on.
They actually did have a ferris Wheel Lands that they
had to take down and replace with heated tents because
of this weather that's going on out there, and they
but you're still gonna get of course, Oberon. But then
there's some exclusive flavors. They're gonna have orange vanilla, mango
(32:07):
hobbinero and strawberry lemonade shandy. I've actually had the mango
hobbinaro really super good on it, really like it. It's
all going down today at Bell's Eccentric Cafe in Kalambazoo
goes from eleven am until eight pm. But there's also
events happening all over the place, including in Holland today
at Hops from five to eight, on Wednesday at Pepinos
(32:27):
and Jennison from six to nine, and on Friday at
Vitelli's in Hudsonville from six to nine pm as well.
Just celebrating all things over.
Speaker 3 (32:34):
I'd like to shout out locally.
Speaker 2 (32:36):
Logan's Alley tapped there first at seven am this morning,
so some of us already started.
Speaker 1 (32:40):
And they're early risers over at Logans. I love it
feel like good coming at you a couple times a day.
I always here to pick you up with some positivity
we'll do it tomorrow at six forty five in nine
to Money, Mack and Schmidty in the morning weekdays starting
at six am on Star one oh five point seven
