Speaker 1 (00:02):
Wa wakem It gets my day going and makes me laugh.

Speaker 2 (00:09):
I love it. Mac and Schmitty in the morning on
Star one of five point seven Gmta Schmitty Money. Welcome
into your Tuesday. It starts sound a little bit cooler.
It's temperatures covering right about thirty degrees, partly cloudy out there.
We'll see highs today creep up right near forty, low forties.
Maybe even give us a little sunshine. I'm hoping for
that after yesterday. Yeah, I think we could use a

(00:29):
little sun My first baseball practice of the little league
season cancel due to snow.

Speaker 1 (00:36):
Oh nice, nice welcome.

Speaker 2 (00:38):
I was I mean the windshill when our practice was
supposed to start was seventeen like it feels like a
seventeen degree.

Speaker 1 (00:45):
I know our fellow soccer parents were still out there.

Speaker 2 (00:47):
Soccer parents are you know what though?

Speaker 1 (00:49):
And those blankets and snowsuits my friends.

Speaker 2 (00:52):
See, that's cool because when my parents would do cold
soccer games, they would just try and park the car
as close to the field as possible, sitting in that
bad boy the whole time, and just use the horn
as their own personal popping system.

Speaker 1 (01:02):
Not mine. They were out there in the elements doing the.

Speaker 3 (01:06):
Work like movies, music and all the gossip in one place.

Speaker 2 (01:11):
It's the celebrities gup on Star one oh five point seven.

Speaker 4 (01:15):
Man, let's throw it back because Fred Durst and Limp
Biscuit have just announced they are suing one of the
biggest record companies in the world, claiming they've gotten royally
screwed out of millions of dollars in royalties and other
profits over the last couple decades. A lawsuit just filed

(01:36):
against Universal Music Group by Fred and his band claym
UMG have stipped them on their share of royalties despite
their music getting over three billion streams in just the
past two years alone, So there's a lot that they
are alleging here. They claim they did not UMG never
had any intention of paying them royalties, and Fred they

(02:00):
think that other artists may also be getting left out
of streaming money. They claim UMG designed and implemented royalty
software systems that deliberately conceal artists' royalties and keep the
money in UMG's hands. They also claim record deals they
signed when they were just getting started in the nineties

(02:20):
kept them out of boatloads of cash. Fred is claiming
he had agreements with certain record execs where a fifty
to fifty split on certain musical ventures never ended up
collecting on what he claims he was owed under those deals.
Fred's also claiming he was promised ten percent of profits
from Stained after discovering the band and signing them to
a label under the UMG umbrella. He says those payments

(02:43):
abruptly stopped from the record execs in twenty twelve. All
told Fred Durst and Lambiscuit estimate they are easily owed
over two hundred million dollars and they are going after
UMG for all of those damages.

Speaker 2 (02:59):
I'm sorry to laugh, but sometimes lawsuits are funny to me.
These guys would be so happy to settle for twenty
million dollars.

Speaker 4 (03:05):
In their head too, maybe they're looking at what Drake
is saying and they're like, yeah, there's millions of dollars
here that these people are keeping. I think it's interesting
if they call out other artists too, and they go, hey,
have you checked your record books?

Speaker 1 (03:16):
Because you're owed a ton.

Speaker 2 (03:17):
And man, if you're a lawyer for UMG or you
make a bank right now. Because those guys are getting
sued by everybody.

Speaker 4 (03:23):
They are not responding to comment right now. I just
thought this was really kind. Former MTV star Bam Margara
is going to be featured in an upcoming Tony Hawk's
Pro Skater video game after initially being snubbed from the game,
and it's all thanks to Tony Hawk himself. So Bam
was not among the skateboarders announced for the new Tony

(03:44):
Hawk's Pro Skater three plus four despite being in the
original version, but after a big push from Tony, Activision
has announced they are going to include Bam in the game.
So Tony and Bam actually had a skate meet up
back in March where he earlier this month where he
posted this video to his Instagram.

Speaker 2 (04:07):
Oh yeah, this guy's back.

Speaker 3 (04:11):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (04:11):
Tony apparently was so impressed with BAM's skating skills and
how incredibly well he's doing during his sobriety he wanted
to get him back in the game. Activision flew Bam
to La a couple of weeks ago so he could
go to headquarters record his skateboarding moves in their motion
capture body suit, and it's going to be a part

(04:32):
of this new game.

Speaker 2 (04:32):
I mean, this is Tony Hawk just being a cool day.

Speaker 1 (04:35):
Just being a really incredible guy. The game is set
for a July eleventh release. Finally, have you ever wanted
to go see a show on Broadway?

Speaker 4 (04:44):
This is a very big conversation that has started just
how much would you spend for that Broadway ticket? Just
last weekend Othello opened on Broadway. This is the one
starring Denzel Washington and Jake Jillenhall had massive reviews. Just
about every celebrity in hollywo What was at opening night
officially last night? But tickets are over nine hundred dollars

(05:07):
a seat. You can get something as low as just
over two hundred, but don't expect to see much. And
it's got a lot of people asking, Okay, so who
is Broadway really for now? So far this is really
paying off. Othellow has just set a record for the
biggest grossing week for a non musical in Broadway history.
But when you think about it, people are paying unbelievable

(05:28):
prices for things like eggs and groceries, so they're asking
the question, are you really allowing everyone the chance to
see Broadway? Even Broadway players aren't able to really avoid
these problems. Hugh Jackman just announced him and producer Sonya
Friedman are collaborating on Together. It's a company with the
goal of making live theatrical productions more accessible to people.

Speaker 2 (05:51):
It would be fantastic. I mean, when you put Denzel
Washington and Jake Gillenhall in your Broadway show, kind of
expected to expense this box the ticket. You know, Taylor
shows go for crazy amount too. All I'm saying is
that tickets are way out of control everywhere you look.

Speaker 4 (06:07):
And it's not just Broadway, all right, all of your
celeb scoop at West Michigan Star dot com.

Speaker 2 (06:13):
Sometimes I get a good feeling. Let's put a little
positivity in at this Tuesday morning Mac and schmiddy with
feeling good right now. And you know what, if you're
a fan of the Voice, spoiler alert about to tell
me your way al right, if you didn't watch last night,
go ahead, just tune out for about a minute here.
Because we had nineteen year old Iris Herrera from just

(06:34):
North the Grand Rapids in New WeGo. Of course we
met Irish Yaw the first time in her blind audition round.
She's sang you are my Sunshine from the Pine Ridge
Boys back in February. Got picked is the very first
team member of Kelsey Ballerini, who's a first time judge
on the Voice this season. Well, last night it was
time for the battle round. She was taken on another
singer there, Simone Marrijik, and they were doing Lizzie mccelpine

(06:57):
song Ceilings. Listen, listen to Iris's raspy and unique voice
doing this song so cool John as I can, I mean,
just absolutely unique and cool voice. And the judges agreed.

(07:20):
It all wrapped up and of course that big moment
where they get to pick whether you're moving on to
the third round or going home? Kelsey, who is the
winner of this battle?

Speaker 1 (07:33):
The winner of this battle is Iris?

Speaker 2 (07:36):
Iris.

Speaker 5 (07:37):
She's moving out an off house, tough voice.

Speaker 3 (07:42):
I chose Iris because she really knows her voice and
she knows how to use it to show how you
niche she is.

Speaker 2 (07:48):
That's right, that unique voice that she honed right here
in West Michigan. You gonna help her move on to
the third round. No date given yet for when her
next appearance will be, but of course we'll keep you posted.

Speaker 4 (07:57):
Well, what do you do as a mom if you're
trying to help your child find their way into a
competitive sport? When a disability prevents them from competing while
you do what any mom would do a lot of
research and that's what Karen Raduezo did, finding West Michigan
Special Hockey Association.

Speaker 1 (08:15):
You haven't heard of it. It's pretty incredible.

Speaker 4 (08:17):
A nonprofit that brings kids and adults with disabilities together
to play hockey on Sundays at Patterson Ice Center. High
school and college athletes volunteer to play alongside them. Disabilities
include Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, childhood cancer, and autism. They
even have a player in a wheelchair. And for Karen
this was a very big deal.

Speaker 6 (08:38):
For her boy, there was really nowhere for him to go.
There was no sport for him to play. He sat
well endless hours in the bleachers watching his little brother
play hockey, and so we wanted to find a place
for him.

Speaker 4 (08:49):
And that is how so many families have found their
place in West Michigan, where hockey is for everyone. This
went down in Cascade. They actually played their Patriot Cup
right before the weekend and everyone agrees, telling Wood TV,
this is a safe space where you finally feel, no
matter what else is going on, that you belong.

Speaker 7 (09:08):
I guess we have a chance to actually feel like
I'm belonging somewhere, because society tends to be on the
cooler side of disabilities from my experiences, so to be
able to be somewhere and have so safe space to.

Speaker 3 (09:21):
Be myself and accepted, it makes a.

Speaker 7 (09:24):
Huge difference to be out there have smiles on everyone's faces.

Speaker 1 (09:30):
She would know.

Speaker 4 (09:30):
That's Emily Springsdorf. She's been part of the league for years.
As Karen, who is now the league's president, says, hockey
is truly for everyone. You want to learn more westmipatriots
dot com.

Speaker 1 (09:43):
It's pretty cool.

Speaker 2 (09:44):
Feeling good. Kevin ast you a couple of times a day.
Niel lift me up, something to get you through. We're
here to provide. We'll do it again this morning at
Mack and Schmidt. He's feeling good. Open your day with
positivity powered by Overhead door company of Grand Rapids on
Star one oh five point seven.

Speaker 3 (10:00):
Movies, music and all the gossip in one place.

Speaker 2 (10:03):
It's the Celebrities group on Star one oh five point seven.

Speaker 1 (10:07):
Well man, I was hoping this was true, but no.

Speaker 4 (10:11):
Actress Jennifer Aniston and actor Pedro Pascal are not together.
Despite tons of speculation over the last two weeks that
the two are dating. The stars most recently photographed over
the weekend together chatting in the valley area of the
Sunset Tower Hotel in West Hollywood after having dinner at
the Tower Bar. That's really when tons of rumors online

(10:34):
started sparking that they were dating, but sources say not
the case. The dinner was with a group of people,
not just the two of them alone. Jennifer and Pedro
are just friends that have lots of mutual friends and
things are platonic as they have been for years.

Speaker 2 (10:49):
So Pedro Pascal Man has just rocket shipped into like
eight tier status, right awesome.

Speaker 4 (10:56):
Chris Jenner, the mamager of the Kardashian really turning heads
with her latest Instagram post had fans doing a double
take when she ditched that signature pixie cut we've seen
her in for years for a blunt bob, and she
looks identical to her daughters Kim and Courtney. She was
most recently at a party celebrating some family friends, and

(11:19):
social media literally went wild, writing Kim, is that you?
Oh my gosh, Chris, I almost thought this was Courtney.
While this style makes you look so youthful, of course,
other people were pointing out, like, is it kind of
weird that you are a sixty nine year old mom
and you're really trying to channel your daughters as much

(11:40):
as you seem like you are. You should see there's
actually a side by side of Kim. I believe she
was at in Art and Film gala like last year,
and then Chris's look from the weekend. They could be twins,
the same bang, swoop and everything.

Speaker 2 (11:54):
If she starts doing squats while wearing skims, it's gonna
get weird.

Speaker 3 (11:58):
I think she's.

Speaker 4 (11:59):
Already done a skim shit you Yeah, I've got that
up for you at West Michigan Star dot com.

Speaker 1 (12:03):
Finally, this can be very interesting.

Speaker 4 (12:06):
Comedian Rick Intervase seemingly wants to do his own Avatar
style show the Comic, raising some eyebrows after applying to
trademark his name in virtual reality. It would allow the
star and stand up comic to be beamed out in
arenas in digital form, which would allow him to perform

(12:28):
gigs from thousands of miles away.

Speaker 2 (12:31):
Can't even choose your own thoughts. How often have you've
been on a train station and you suddenly thought, well,
I just pushed that blope, and then you go, why
have I thought that? Why a psychopath? No you're not,
You're the opposite, You're a safe pair of ants. I
don't get that one. What I get is I'm talking
to a really sweet old lady and I suddenly start thinking,

(12:53):
what if I just spat in her face?

Speaker 4 (12:55):
Now, this would be very wild to see if other
comics go this same way. So of course we've seen
this before. The estates of George Michael and Freddie Mercury
have actually filed trademarks for this exact same thing. You remember,
ABA did that like fourteen city tour. They were all
avatars digitally on stage, but every single one sold out.

(13:18):
The documents Durvas filed also give him intellectual property over
things like toys, services, clothes, even kitchen items.

Speaker 2 (13:30):
I still am so weirded out by the idea of
metaverse and hologram live shows being all over the place.
I don't know something about it just feels so weird.

Speaker 4 (13:38):
Get ready, Queen guitarist Brian May just recently said they're
looking into something very very similar. All right, all of
your celeb scoob at West Michigan start.

Speaker 2 (13:46):
Doc Yes, we're all about feeling good, except when you know,
maybe you need an ugly cry to feel good. SITTI.

Speaker 4 (13:51):
I mean, it's like every day for us, ladies, and
I've got to talk about it because it never it's
never something you can prepare for. And I'm not talking like, oh,
this makes me emotional. I'm talking the Kim Kardashian mean
that I posted to our Facebook, the ugly cry, just
the absolute shoulder heaving. What the heck came over me

(14:13):
because I've had those moments a few times, and it
got me last night, and now I'm at the point
where I don't even realize I'm doing it. My three
year old daughter had her spring concert last night, and
this is the first one she's ever had in school
because they didn't do it for twos last year.

Speaker 3 (14:27):
Ye.

Speaker 4 (14:28):
And she's up on the altar in her little unicorn dress.
She's belting out the song so you can hear her
all the way at the back of the church.

Speaker 1 (14:38):
She's got all the.

Speaker 4 (14:39):
Moves down, and I'm one of those moms like kneeling
on the floor outside the pew so I can get
the really good video. And all of a sudden, my husband,
Chris looks over at me, he like taps my shoulder,
like what, he goes, you look insane because I'm sitting
there with my phone up and I don't realize, like
she's so good, she's grown, yes, I mean, and there's

(15:03):
children everywhere, So I assume mascara running my mouth is
doing that weird thing because it's barely able to hold
the snot in my nose because I'm just so overcome
with like proud emotion. And I've had a few of
these moments, and sometimes they're just like the dumbest things.

Speaker 1 (15:22):
I had the ugliest cry.

Speaker 4 (15:24):
Do you remember that Super Bowl commercial it was for
I think it was the Google pixel about getting your
dream job? Yeah, that one that in my recliner with
friends over and I was like, okay, okay, get it, dad,
you are finally out there supporting your kids. And then
I have to point out, because I don't know if

(15:45):
y'all are on TikTok or Instagram, but anytime someone makes
a video with the Cinematic Orchestra to build a home song,
you know I'm.

Speaker 2 (15:54):
Talking about.

Speaker 4 (15:56):
Are you kidding me? I can't listen to this entire
song with about sitting. People have caught me at red
lights with this on my playlist in my car, like
white knuckling my steering wheel because I can barely get
a breath in because I'm hyperventilating with tears.

Speaker 1 (16:13):
I just I want to turn that off. I can't
do it. I can't even listen to that song. I
don't know what it is.

Speaker 4 (16:19):
But then afterwards, like you look terrible, your hair's a mess,
your face is all broken out.

Speaker 1 (16:26):
But you feel so good. I mean, I love an
ugly cry.

Speaker 2 (16:31):
I hope that you feel good after this. Because my
wife is the same as you. She is doing it
all the time. There are very few things that draw
even the smallest amount of emotion that I don't see
my wife's eyes just well up with.

Speaker 4 (16:44):
Like ugly cry. I want like next level ugly cry.

Speaker 2 (16:48):
You're right, it's all things to do with our kids.
All things to do with the kids, for sure. I
mean for me, I guess it's that. But it's all
the super super sad stuff or anything to do with dogs.
If go it incorporate dogs, Marley and me. I'm sorry,
I've seen it like fifty times. I can just watch
the final twice.

Speaker 1 (17:05):
I've never seen that movie, and I will not watch it.

Speaker 4 (17:08):
People keep like responding to me like I should absolutely not.

Speaker 2 (17:12):
I had a Golden Retrieve. Everybody who had a Gold
Retriever had a gold Retriever that looked just like that one,
because they're like all the same. And man, it just
gets me every single time.

Speaker 1 (17:19):
You know it's coming.

Speaker 4 (17:20):
Because last night I was doing my reading with my son,
my first grader. Yeah, and we're two chapters away from
the end of Charlotte's Web. Oh, here we go, and
he doesn't know what's coming, and I just know I'm
going to be Chris asked me. He was like, after
we put well the bud, he goes, do you want
me to finish the book?

Speaker 1 (17:35):
I said, I can handle it.

Speaker 4 (17:36):
He's like, because I think you're going to actually terrify
him more with how emotional you're going to get finishing
that book with him.

Speaker 1 (17:43):
What gives you the ugly cry? I'm not talking like, oh,
it was such a beautiful wedding.

Speaker 4 (17:48):
I mean your face looks monstrous because you are so
overcome with emotion.

Speaker 1 (17:54):
Six one six four five one oh five seven.

Speaker 4 (17:57):
And sorry to anyone that was at the spring concert
last night, I'm perfectly fine. I promise I didn't look it,
but I'm fine.

Speaker 2 (18:03):
Now, Like, I just hope that you know, there's some
wife who's elbowing the heck out of her husband's seeing
See it's fun, it's fun.

Speaker 1 (18:10):
Oh, I think I'm in someone's video. It's even worse.
Somebody's trying to get a memory of their child and none.
They're like, Jimitty is so salty.

Speaker 2 (18:20):
And let's find out why she is salty This week,
Mac and Schmitty on starting oh five point seven. I'm
sorry you said you were salty at a basically a
toddler's concert last night.

Speaker 4 (18:31):
Well, first of all, it was three four and five
year olds, so they consider themselves big kids. But yes,
I was because I think this is really rude. So
you've been at a concert for your kids before, right,
are you hyper aware of people sitting around you and going, oh,
the person behind me must have a kid in this
class and really wants to be able to see them perform.

(18:54):
Or would you rather let your kids run them up,
stick their face in my camera, angle, move their arms around,
scream and shout so that I miss a lot of
my daughter performing.

Speaker 2 (19:04):
So what you're saying is basically you saw some parents
let their kids be fairal kids in the middle of
what is a concert that other parents are trying to enjoy,
capture their kids moments, and.

Speaker 4 (19:14):
Sitting there for over forty five minutes to get a
good seat. I'm just wanting a few pictures, a couple
of videos. And I'm going to tell you that two parents,
one right in front of me and then two in
front of her. I was so annoyed. Their kids were
running all up and down the pews. They were like
and I was kneeling on the ground with my phone up.

(19:35):
They could tell that, like might and I'm looking around
behind me before and I go, oh, okay, the person
behind me has a child in this class.

Speaker 1 (19:42):
Perfect.

Speaker 4 (19:43):
I'm going to make sure that, like my kids are
staying seated. They want to be able to see their child,
maybe get some video.

Speaker 1 (19:48):
I think that is so inconsiderate.

Speaker 2 (19:50):
One thousand persons.

Speaker 4 (19:51):
I was so annoyed last night I almost said something.
And I'm a non confrontational person. If Jesus hadn't been
looking at me, I would have honestly.

Speaker 2 (19:59):
Like, like, please paint the picture for me.

Speaker 1 (20:01):
It's going to be up there for three minutes.

Speaker 4 (20:03):
You can't keep your feral children under control for three minutes.

Speaker 1 (20:06):
So I can take a twenty two second video.

Speaker 2 (20:09):
Oh my goodness. By the way, calling other people's children
farrel is one of my favorite things to do for
any parrot that's not taking responsibility.

Speaker 4 (20:16):
Yes, thank you so much for having your elbow in
bald head a part of my child's memories.

Speaker 2 (20:21):
Wait, paint the picture because we talked about how you
were ugly crying while you were doing this earlier part of.

Speaker 4 (20:26):
This, because I'll never have any memory of this because
your dang kids were in my way sit so stalky.

Speaker 2 (20:34):
Honestly, I know, I know that there is gotta be
a video of your face during this entire ordeal. Some
other parrot captured it by mistake or because of sheer
you just captivation because they saw a woman ugly crying
and angry as the fan Sildred like, I would just
love to see it so much.

Speaker 4 (20:52):
Just it's inconsiderate and rude.

Speaker 3 (20:58):
Movies, music and all the gossip in one place.

Speaker 2 (21:02):
It's the celebrities gup on Star one oh five point seven.

Speaker 1 (21:06):
Well, it's the.

Speaker 4 (21:06):
First time we've seen Drake and Josh together talking about
that bombshell documentary Quiet on Set The Dark Side of
Kids TV. It was revealed in Josh's Good Guys podcast.
The episode dropped yesterday where Josh Pack and Drake Bell
revealed the investigation into the abuse that the doc talked

(21:28):
about was actually happening during the break between The Amanda
Show and Drake and Josh. If you remember those hits
on Nickelodeon and we're learning for the first time. When
they were filming the plot the pilot, excuse me for
Drake and Josh, no one had any clue what Drake
was going through because Brian Peck, their dialogue coach and producer,

(21:52):
had not been arrested yet. In fact, you can hear
the emotion in Josh's voice as he realized even at
the time, he didn't know how bad this was.

Speaker 8 (22:01):
The worst part about it being that was my having
the monster in your own in your safe place, you know.
It's like that's that's the only place I feel comfortable
is when I get the set and hang out with
you guys and we go goof around and put on
our masks and wigs and make up and make people
laugh and slide around and get dirty. Like that's where
I feel safe. But it's like it sucks because it's
like that, like you know.

Speaker 5 (22:21):
And then he was gone, and I didn't know anything
except I had a like, I had a feeling something
something happened. And I remember we're in the car. It
was you, me and Jill, and I said you still
talk to Brian, and you just looked at me like, no,

(22:41):
Brian's a really bad guy. And I remember thinking, gotcha.

Speaker 3 (22:46):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (22:47):
Josh even says it wasn't until later when he got
a text from someone on the show telling him Brian
had been arrested and was going to jail, that he
realized this went so much deeper and so much more
horrible than I had ever realized. This is a two
part interview, with the next episode dropping on Thursday.

Speaker 2 (23:06):
I mean powerful stuff in sobering. I'm sure for him
to learn in that moment and to recall it and
just like, oh, this person that we both spent a
lot of time around was a terrible person. A clearly editor,
you experienced it differently than I did.

Speaker 4 (23:19):
Graydon Carter, the former editor of Vanity Fair, joking that
Megan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, was quote slightly adrift
on facts and reality. He's dropping a new memoir and
is specifically talking about the moment Meghan landed that famous
twenty seventeen Vanity Fair cover. Carter said one of his

(23:39):
staff came to him and said, we should do a
cover on Meghan. Carter said, I have no idea who
that is. The staffer replied, oh, she's on suits, and
Carter said, I have no idea what that is.

Speaker 1 (23:49):
Why should we do.

Speaker 4 (23:49):
A story on her, he says. The staffer replied, well,
she's going to marry Prince Harry, Carter said during the interview,
Meghan even said, excuse me, is this going to all
be about Prince here? Because I thought we were going
to be talking about my charities and philanthropy. Carter thinking
to himself, this woman is definitely slightly adrift on facts
and reality and why she matters.

Speaker 1 (24:11):
It's not a very touching portrayal of Meghan.

Speaker 4 (24:16):
Carter also said that he predicted Megan's marriage to Harry
would last just a couple of years rather than decades.

Speaker 2 (24:23):
Well, I can while I think maybe Meghan's drift a
little bit from reality. I mean, she has a princess
for Pete's sake. At the same time, I got no
problem with her wanting to talk about her charitable stuff
and what's going on in her life instead of the
elephant in the room.

Speaker 4 (24:36):
He said that Anna Wintour had some things to say
about her as well, writing half the time she greets
me warmly. Half the time I feel like she's gonna
toss me her car keys. Finally, spoiler alert, if you
have not watched the season twenty ninth finale of The
Bachelor from last night, I will be giving it away,
So go ahead and turn us down for a second

(24:57):
if you don't want to hear grant Ellis found love.
As I roll my eyes, I'm really sorry, vaccelonation.

Speaker 1 (25:04):
I don't watch this show, but it was a proposal
headed two.

Speaker 9 (25:10):
Juliana is so strong and we can help each other
through the good and the bad and everything in the troo.

Speaker 2 (25:21):
Everything, everything, all the thing. So that's how I stand you.

Speaker 10 (25:26):
I can.

Speaker 1 (25:29):
Okay, I'm so sorry.

Speaker 4 (25:30):
I don't watch this show, but y'all really put up
with that voice for an entire season.

Speaker 2 (25:35):
No, it's so funny. My wife is an average Bachelorette
Bachelor fan always watches, and I was watching part of
this last night, and when you said the girl's voice
drives me crazy, I actually thought you were talking about
the other one who comes in second because her voice
is like Courtney kardash.

Speaker 1 (25:50):
I would take that everything.

Speaker 2 (25:52):
Is super slow. Like combined, those two women are a
nightmare for eternity, right.

Speaker 4 (26:00):
Not not not the upset Bachelor nation. Like I said,
I'm not an avid watcher, but that good for you. Juliana,
will Her and Grant love forever. There's videos up so
you can hear even more of.

Speaker 2 (26:12):
That was a lot so squealing. I think there was school.

Speaker 1 (26:14):
West Michigan Star dot com for all your schools.

Speaker 2 (26:16):
We are Mac and Schmidti. Though ancient, every day we'd
like to battle. Battle of the Sex has given you
the opportunity to go hang with Schmidty Friday night, says
our Grand Rapids Rise in action over at Vanandealerina.

Speaker 4 (26:27):
Yep match at seven versus the Columbus Fury. We've got
your tickets ready. With today's number one answer, one hundred
women surveyed. Why would a cheerleader say she had a
bad day?

Speaker 2 (26:36):
Cheerleader lost a pom pom?

Speaker 1 (26:38):
I mean pyramid didn't hold up. You're seen that I have.

Speaker 2 (26:43):
You know, somebody always volunteers to be the top piece.
That shouldn't be the top piece. You know what I mean.

Speaker 1 (26:48):
I'm telling you girls, is a sport, not an art.

Speaker 4 (26:50):
Let me tell you six one, six, four five, eight,
one oh five seven. One hundred women surveyed why would
a cheerleader say she had a bad day? Call her seven?
Number one answer, You're going to our Grand Rapids Rise
with song?

Speaker 2 (27:04):
Good morning Star? Who's this?

Speaker 8 (27:06):
Good morning?

Speaker 4 (27:06):
This with the Angela?

Speaker 2 (27:07):
Angela? Where are you calling us from today? I'm from
DA one. All right, Angela, Le's try and get you
into our Grand Rapids Rise. One hundred women were asked
why would a cheerleader say she had a bad day?
What do you think?

Speaker 7 (27:19):
She fell?

Speaker 2 (27:20):
She fell? She went down? Yeah, that's actually the number
three most common answer. I'm sorry, Hi, star, who's this Melissa?
Melissa just got a great guess, but it was the
number three most common answer when one hundred women were
asked why a cheerleader might say she had a bad day,
I just heard because she fell, which was the number
three most common answer, but not the top one.

Speaker 8 (27:42):
What do you think I'm thinking it she woke up
with a ZiT on her face.

Speaker 2 (27:47):
Woke up with a ZiT on her face, you know,
and I'd throw that under like bad hair day, close
to it, you know, just having a bad day looks wise,
but that is actually the number four most common answer.
I'm sorry, oh man, thank you, high star. Who's this?
This is Mike, Mike, I just heard a couple of
good guesses, but not the top answer. One hundred women

(28:08):
were asked why should a cheer or why would a
cheerleader say she had a bad day? And so far
I heard because she fell, which was the number three
most common answer. And then also I just had the
guess you know, she got a really bad ZiT, and
I threw that in there with a bad hair day,
which was the number four most common answer. So Mike
got a chance. What do you think it is. I'm

(28:28):
gonna say the team lost. We're gonna say the team lost.
You know what, it's hard to have a lot of
team spirit when your team has lost the big game.
And that is why that's the top answer, Mike. Way
to go, heck gyues. You'll be cheering for our team,
our Grand Rapids rise Friday night. You got four tickets, man, perfect,

(28:50):
Thank you so much.

Speaker 7 (28:51):
You're welcome.

Speaker 2 (28:52):
You're very welcome. We'll do it again tomorrow. Another chance
to win those rise tickets comes for you eight to fifteen.
Battle of the Sexies every weekday right here on stuff.
Good morning too, it's Mack and Schmidty. And if you
were not aware, there are some changes going into effect
about where and how kids can ride in cars a
week from tomorrow, April second, they go into effect, and

(29:13):
there's some changes to where car seats have to be,
and how long your kids have to be turned around
in their car seats and facing backwards, and how long
they need boosters. But the change I wanted to talk
to you about was when kids can start sitting in
the front seat. So officially it was you could be
older than four years old, but the recommendation was eight
years old and you had to be above four foot

(29:35):
nine in order to do it. Now they're making the
change as of next Tuesday, or excuse me, next Wednesday.
If there is an open seat in the back of
your vehicle and your child is under the age of thirteen,
regardless of size or weight, they must be in the
back seat or you will get a ticket. And I
bring this up because this literally impacts my kids right

(29:58):
in the zone there. When Charlotte finally got to be
above four foot nine and got to do all those things.
She was waiting for it, and so we started letting
her ride in the seat, like on short trips to
and from school, that kind of thing. Well, my son
was already three inches bigger and twenty pounds heavier than her,
so that quickly turned into him also being allowed to
do the same thing. As of next week, neither one

(30:20):
of them will be allowed to sit in the front
seat when we go anywhere, and there they think like
their greatest freedom is being taken away from them.

Speaker 1 (30:28):
I mean, the front seat is a pretty cool place.

Speaker 2 (30:30):
So I asked this online whether you thought this was, like,
you know, good thing or an overreach, And honestly, it's
a mixed bag. A lot of people going back and
forth saying leave it to the parents, other people saying, hey,
if you look on the back of your visor in
your car, this is what they've been telling you to
do for decades. And I think just in general, it
feels weird to believe that you were able to do

(30:51):
something and then have it taken away for in my
son's case, the next three years, but only being like
a like a year and a half after that that
he's able to go take driver's head. He's gonna beat
than me when he's thirteen years old. And I think
that that part of it does make it a little strange.
And we just keep pushing that line further and further back.
What do you think about.

Speaker 1 (31:09):
We learn more? Yeah, I mean that's what I think.

Speaker 4 (31:12):
I think that when you see, especially tragically fatal crashes,
and they're able to go and look at this and say, oh,
you know, if that child hadn't been in the front seat,
they probably would have survived. I think this is fine
because I'm willing to trust experts for wiser than myself.
Airbags terrify me. Airbags terrify me for my own self.

(31:33):
I mean, even as a fully grown adult, I was
terrified driving around when I was pregnant. Yeah, you've got
to wear your seatbelt a certain way, You've got to
make sure. I mean, all of those things are there
to protect you, but they're there to protect certain body types.
And if I mean, I'm maybe this is just me.
If I'm keeping my kids in the back seat till
they're eighteen, I'm five, I just I get so nervous
about those kinds of things, And how horrible would you

(31:56):
feel in a crash. If you lost your child and
found out if they hadn't been sitting in the front seat.

Speaker 1 (32:01):
That might not have happened.

Speaker 2 (32:02):
You wouldn't been able to do it.

Speaker 1 (32:03):
I mean, it would have been to you. And so
you know they're coming out with these updates.

Speaker 4 (32:06):
I understand that it's frustrating for parents like you that
are in that stage they were able to sit in
the front, But.

Speaker 1 (32:14):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (32:15):
What we gotta do is get kids amped about being
a passenger. Princess, what you want to do in the
back seat, you are a pillow and you're like you,
I have a show for.

Speaker 2 (32:24):
Honey, show them the movie blank Check and say I
am basically the guy who drives around in the limousine.

Speaker 4 (32:29):
You got one of those nice ones to have the
arms that pop down with the cup holders. The front
seat is terrible compared to that bougie back seat.

Speaker 2 (32:37):
It's all about perspectives, and I think that's true in
the laws and whether or not you agree with them,
weigh in on this tell us about you thing. A
lot of people going back and forth right now in
our Facebook at West Michigan Star sometime because I get
a good always here to provide a little positivity for
your day if you had a good on start one

(32:58):
or five point seven? What's going on?

Speaker 1 (33:00):
Oh you guys, if I have to hear this, you
have to hear this.

Speaker 4 (33:04):
Shout out to the Frederick Meyer Gardens for giving me
the best laugh the other day with a video they
posted to their Instagram simply captioned become a Riz Master
with a trip to Meyer Gardens.

Speaker 11 (33:19):
Yo, fam, Welcome to Meyer Gardens, the ultimate vibe spot
in Grand Rapids m I. It slaps in every season.
Stroll in and.

Speaker 2 (33:31):
Get hit by the skivity riz low key.

Speaker 11 (33:35):
You need to cop some fire merch from the devoce
Keeler gift shop. The Carnivorous Clanhouse is high key of bugs,
worst nightmare.

Speaker 1 (33:43):
My favorite one.

Speaker 11 (33:44):
First traps everywhere for insects, the Venus fly trap main
character energy.

Speaker 4 (33:51):
It's so good And that is just a piece of
the more than two minute video. And I have to
tell you, I'm not sure who the employee on this
video is, but you have done such a fantastic job.
I believe your name is Steve. That's what I can
gather from the comments. And it is just top tier,

(34:12):
no cap It's on our stories right now at West
Michigan Star on Insta.

Speaker 2 (34:16):
Well done, Steve, it is so good.

Speaker 1 (34:18):
It's so good.

Speaker 2 (34:19):
Frederick Kier My kids, I think died inside a little
bit just knowing that there's a main character energy for
the Venus fly Trap too. All right, lots of amazing
basketball as we've been watching over the last month, and
lots of incredible stories of young people getting to live
out their dreams and what it took to get there.
That persistence, that resiliency and the faith. Well, that's especially

(34:41):
true for Bailey Signaman Daniel. She was born with the
right arm that was far too small to adequately use,
basically has one left arm, and she has not let
it in that stop her from having an incredible basketball
career that this season became history making because she was
actually cut from her high school b basketball team in
her senior year and it was devastating. She said basketball

(35:04):
was her basically her place of normalcy where she could
go to escape, and she said she wasn't going to
give up and she wanted to try it in college.
So bouncing around a little bit, she wounded up landing
at Leslie University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where she joined the
team and earlier this season schmiddy against Fitchburg State, she
rose up and made history, hitting that one arm shot

(35:27):
flying through the air straight up switch, becoming the first
and only one armed Division three female basketball player to
ever score. I mean, unbelievable. Quiff the coach, to his credit,
he called time out, soaking it all up. He talked
to CNN and said that allowed the team to come
out and embrace her, which they did on the court.

(35:48):
Gave us a second to reflect on the tremendous hard
work and dedication that it takes to get to that point.
And for Bailey it was a reminder of all the
time she felt like she wasn't going to be able
to do it, people tell her she couldn't make her
dreams come true, and instead what she wound up doing
was again making absolute history. This was her chatting it up.

(36:09):
Oh I'm missing it here right here, Schmeddie Bailey talking
with her local news.

Speaker 10 (36:14):
I definitely have a lot of moments where I like
step into a gym and people look at me a
little confused and they're like, you know, why is she here?
Why is she dressing out? Why is she warming up?
Why is she on the bench, why is she getting
put in? Every time I step onto a court, I
really just remember everything that people have told me that
I couldn't do. There are so many people out there
in this world who deal with, you know, holding themselves

(36:36):
back from things that they I feel like our destined
to do. And I hope that my story puts more
people at ease with taking a.

Speaker 2 (36:44):
Risk, persistence, resilience, and faith driving her to make history.
I love it feeling good Kevin at you a couple
of times a day. I always want to lift you
up with some positivity. Let's do it again tomorrow at
six forty five and again at nine twenty here on
Startwear five point seven Mac and Commidy in the morning
weekday starting at six am on Star one oh five
point seven
