Speaker 2 (00:09):
I love it.
Speaker 3 (00:10):
Mac and Schmidty in the Morning on Star one oh
five point seven. Good morning, toe is SCHMITTI, Good morning.
Happy Friday, the final Friday in March. You know, I
felt like January lasted at least six months, But after
that this has been flying by.
Speaker 4 (00:24):
Now it always goes, isn't it?
Speaker 3 (00:25):
Pretty much? And today it looks like the start of
a possibly wet weekend in some areas across West Michigan.
As we'll see, high's today reach up into the upper sixties,
but with it some windy conditions at times, clouds coming in,
some showers occasionally, especially in the early afternoon Today Show.
Speaker 4 (00:43):
But it's not snow.
Speaker 3 (00:44):
It is not snow, and it won't be snow this
weekend because that's really the forecast that we're looking at.
This tempts will remain in the sixties basically through the weekend.
Speaker 1 (00:52):
Movies, music, and all the gossip in one.
Speaker 3 (00:55):
Place, it's the Celebriti scoop on Star one oh five
point seven.
Speaker 4 (01:00):
Well, the big baby news.
Speaker 5 (01:01):
Megan Fox has officially given birth. The actress and her
ex machine Gun Kelly, sharing a very sweet black and
white photo on their Instagram yesterday of their first child together,
not much except a couple of very cute little hands,
captioning the post she is finally here, our little celestial seed,
(01:22):
along with today's date, which had been yesterday the twenty seventh,
which most believe was the date of birth. Meghan has
yet to post anything further on that, but of course
it came with some drama. You'll remember, Meghan and MGK
called it quits during their Thanksgiving trip to Colorado last year,
and since then, Megan's ex Brian Austin Green, has been
(01:44):
very open about his concern for Megan with this breakup,
Brian actually sharing yesterday some scream rabs of MGK in
his DMS, with at one point machine saying stop asking
when our child is going to be born? Are you
the Feds? Quit calling TMZ and focus on that apology
(02:05):
you owe me for speaking on my name in public.
Speaker 4 (02:09):
You chose the wrong one.
Speaker 5 (02:11):
To bleep with, mister child actor, go back to serial commercials.
Real Brian is kind of laughing it off and going
child actor boy, LEO, you better be careful.
Speaker 4 (02:23):
He might be coming for you next. Oh, I mean
drama drama.
Speaker 3 (02:27):
I was gonna say. I don't think that's gonna help
Machine Gun Kelly's cause very much if he does want
to be part of the life that I did love
that she called it their celestial seed is something right.
Speaker 5 (02:38):
I actually had no idea that these two word dating
and now they're broken up for good. If you ever
watched The Girls next Door on e you will know
former Playboy playmate Holly Madison, who is claiming she has
officially done with Ghost Adventures lead Zach Baggins.
Speaker 4 (02:55):
Did you call play for dating for like the last
five years, No, but I wish I did so.
Speaker 5 (02:59):
Bridget Marca hosts The Girl's Next Level podcast. She invited
her friend Holly onto yesterday's episode.
Speaker 6 (03:06):
Zach and I broke up for good, for good, Like
I know, we've been very off and on. You guys
are probably like you guys broke up like last spring, right,
I know.
Speaker 4 (03:13):
People are like, so are they together?
Speaker 1 (03:15):
Yeah?
Speaker 7 (03:15):
They together?
Speaker 2 (03:16):
They don't together.
Speaker 4 (03:17):
We're just like, who knows, very off and on. It
was on the day.
Speaker 6 (03:20):
Yeah, I was off and on over the course of
like the five and a half years we were together,
but very off and on over the past year, like
very very much. So we broke up and and I
mean like unfollowed on social media, which, like we've never
unfollowed each other before. We can throw all a breakup.
Speaker 4 (03:35):
So that's when you know it's serious. Yeah, so serious.
They are done for good?
Speaker 3 (03:39):
Do you think he was haunted by his past relationship?
Speaker 5 (03:42):
Ba shang, we're here all morning. Finally, Gary Turner is
shutting down rumors that he is going to be a
part of Bachelor in Paradise, saying not the case. He
is not planning to hit the sands of Mexico anytime soon.
Speaker 4 (03:58):
The Golden Bachelor TMZ.
Speaker 5 (04:00):
He turned down and offer three weeks ago when producers
did reach out to have him join the Bachelor in
Paradise mix, throwing in some of their golden contestants alongside
those beachy hunks for the first time ever.
Speaker 4 (04:14):
Gary's main reason for.
Speaker 5 (04:15):
Passing on the project He's basically been there, done that.
He says, he already knows the women that are heading
to Bachelor in Paradise and he has already established there
is no true romantic spark. However, he is open to
the idea if they invite new women into the mix.
Speaker 3 (04:32):
Very interesting.
Speaker 4 (04:33):
I remember you, Gary, I just want to see at.
Speaker 3 (04:35):
Least one really good May December relationship come out of
this whole thing. SCHMITTI that's all.
Speaker 5 (04:41):
Gary did say he has offered to make cameos in
the show and said he'd even.
Speaker 4 (04:45):
Be down to host a date. Oh like Dad on
the date.
Speaker 5 (04:49):
All right, all of your celeb scoop at Westmichigan Star
dot com.
Speaker 3 (04:54):
Sometimes I get a good feeling, well, let's dip into
it for your frien and morning feeling good on sale
O five points. See having it's Mack and Schmidty and
cookies always make me feel good, or at least they
make me feel things because I like to eat those feelings.
Cookies often follow in that category, specifically Girl Scout cookies
this time of year. And I thought this was really
(05:14):
kind of cool. We are going to see the founder
of the Girl Scouts from all the way back in
the nineteen twenties gracing a US quarter. Yeah, this is
really cool. Part of the Smithsonians American Women's History Museum.
They are going to have that American Women Quarters program
continue that has already featured incredible women like Eleanor Roosevelt,
(05:36):
Maya Angelou, Astronauts, Sally Ryde and others. Well, now it
is going to feature Juliette Gordon Lowe, the founder of
the Girls Scouts, and it's kind of interesting. So on
it is going to be a trefoil cookie, which I
think is the worst Girl Scout cookie SMITTI, I think
they picked the worst one, like come on, give me
some moment on there for sure, But of course one
(05:58):
of the original favorites, the treefoil cookie. Two Girl Scout
Awards and a nineteen twenties Girl Scout uniform on there.
And in case you're curious, it will cost you exactly
twenty four of those quarters in order to buy a
box of Girl Scout cookies. They already got my money
this season because I saw one of the girls use
the boxes as like a robot armor and was doing
(06:20):
the robot dance in the store. I just had to
give her all my cash. But big thing, these are
actually going to go into regular circulation. You might see
him in your change as soon as next month.
Speaker 5 (06:29):
Fun All right, have you heard of rock Steady Boxing.
It's a Byron Center Jim that in the past has
been focused on workouts tailored for people battling Parkinson's. Well,
they have introduced a new type of session to help
you with grief. That's right, boxing your way to some closure.
It's a pretty fantastic program. Coach Amy Hoyer is a
(06:50):
big reason that she has introduced the concept of grief
boxing because she's met so many wonderful people that are
having such a hard time with grief. She realized putting
on a pair of boxing gloves maybe the best therapeutic outlet.
She explains to Fox seventeen. It's not always death. It
could be the loss of a job, the loss of
(07:11):
a dream, and when you don't get those emotions out,
it's actually really detrimental to your physical health and overall
well being. So grab the gloves and get going. Jane
mun did just that. She's been attending Rock Steady for
eight years instead it has been instrumental in her healing.
Speaker 7 (07:29):
It feels good that that release that you get when
you are physical, just from past.
Speaker 3 (07:35):
Experience releasing pent up emotions. Tied to her friend Shelley,
I cried.
Speaker 7 (07:40):
A lot of tears, and I'm grateful that I have
that outlet because I think tears are so healthy and
just a good release of emotion as well. It's hard
to explain, but it just helps release some of that
heaviness that maybe you feel after a loss.
Speaker 5 (07:57):
I think Coach Jamie explains it perfectly. When you're hitting
the back, you're taking over some control in whatever you've lost,
even better after each session. CoA Chamie offers resources to
help grief boxing.
Speaker 4 (08:09):
I love it. You want to check out more rock
steady boxing.
Speaker 3 (08:12):
Environs Winner smart idea. I mean, when who among us
hasn't wanted to just rage out or express our feelings
by hitting something.
Speaker 4 (08:20):
Close to especially when you're sad big time.
Speaker 3 (08:22):
All right, feeling good coming at you a couple of
times a day. Always want to lift you up and
share things that people are doing out there to inspire others.
Let's do that at nine s want to hear on Star.
Speaker 1 (08:30):
Movies, music, and all the gossip in one place.
Speaker 3 (08:34):
It's the celebritiescoop on Star one oh five point seven.
Speaker 5 (08:38):
Well, after all the drama with Northwest, daughter of Kim
and Kanye showing up on that Diddy track with her
dad's new single, she's doing again, this time with FKA Twigs.
Her rap career seems to be taken off. The singer
just dropped her new music video for Childlike Things and
none other than Northwest, showing off some skills wrapping.
Speaker 4 (09:01):
In Japanese the one.
Speaker 5 (09:05):
No I meet you, I'm not gonna lie. I think
it's actually really catchy and I kind of like it.
(09:27):
There's been a bit of backlash from fans, obviously, saying, dude,
your daughter's still so young, don't be bringing her into
this world just yet, unless she's really got some good
protection and good support around her. As for Kim, she's
loving it. She shared some more behind the scenes shots
to her Instagram stories last night from that Fka Twigs video, saying,
I am just so proud of my baby.
Speaker 3 (09:49):
I mean, I can definitely understand people who are like, oh,
you know, this is too much. Don't put them in
the public eye this early. These are Kardashians, right Like,
these are.
Speaker 4 (09:57):
Up in front of the camera.
Speaker 5 (09:58):
Yeah, exactly, that's all they Jojo Siwa is getting a
ton of backlash over a very specific part of her
new tour. She just announced her dream Guest VIP package.
So here is just a little tease into what you're
going to see.
Speaker 1 (10:14):
After three long year, I'm going back on tour.
Speaker 3 (10:21):
Goes You Alive is so much more than just a concert. Yes,
we're gonna have a live performance.
Speaker 1 (10:26):
With new hits, old hits, all the hits.
Speaker 8 (10:27):
Then there's gonna be a crowd party, crowd interaction.
Speaker 2 (10:30):
It's gonna be the best mode.
Speaker 5 (10:32):
Of So here's the thing that people online were pointing out.
Her dream guest VIP package runs you over nine hundred dollars,
and it will.
Speaker 4 (10:43):
Include your chance to.
Speaker 5 (10:45):
Test out a drum kit, make sure the DJ booth
is working, everything is set. Here's the comments online.
Speaker 4 (10:53):
What in the what?
Speaker 5 (10:54):
She's clearly not selling tickets, so now she's asking fans
to set up her shows.
Speaker 4 (10:59):
Jojo c having a nine hundred.
Speaker 5 (11:01):
Dollars VIP ticket package where you're a roadie is absolutely insane.
This feels like a nine hundred dollars health and safety
risk experience. Jojo is on the defensive this morning, saying, listen,
my whole thing was that fans could get an immersive
behind the scenes experience. I never meant for it to
sound like I was having them pay to work for me.
(11:25):
Her team is kind of in damaged control right now.
That tour kicks off July ten.
Speaker 3 (11:29):
I mean, that is silly. I don't I don't think
it was intended like you're going to do work for
us so much as it was as she described. However,
I think it.
Speaker 4 (11:37):
Does kind of sound like she's putting you to work,
though done it.
Speaker 3 (11:39):
I think at jojo' Seawood, tickets closed with a nine
dollars in value, more so than nine hundred, though it's close.
Speaker 5 (11:44):
Finally, I thought this story was so funny. If you
watched The White Lotus, it is a hit on HBO.
I believe in its third season. You've heard a lot
of talk about scenes involving actor Jason Isaac. Well, there's
been some very intense hence storylines is how I will
put it, and in the most recent episode, Jason is
(12:05):
wearing a Duke basketball t shirt, so the point where
Duke had to put out a statement saying they want
absolutely no part of this. For instance, there's been murder
plot lines, shady business dealing plot lines, there's been some nudity.
Speaker 4 (12:21):
These statement reads.
Speaker 5 (12:22):
Duke appreciates artistic expression and creative storytelling, but characters prominently
wearing apparel bearing Duke's federally registered trademarks creates confusion and
mistakenly suggests an endorsement or affiliation where none exists. So
apparently some publicity is publicity. Yeah, if you're duke, you
(12:44):
don't want any part of this. All of yours celebscoop
at West Michigan Star dot com.
Speaker 3 (12:48):
Good morning to you, SCHWITTI. And you know, with spring
break coming up here pretty quick, summertime temperatures on the way,
you mentioned the word vacation, Yeah, I think my heart skipped.
Speaker 4 (12:57):
Beat Michigan vacation.
Speaker 5 (12:59):
Let's be very clear, I want Michigan vacation. Because we
were just talking about this yesterday. I got a sneak
peak of the Grand Rapids Cottage and Lakefront Living Show,
which opens today at Devas, and they've got a for
sale and for rent board right when you walk in
of all these stunning vacation homes, cottages, great places in
the woods that are for sale or rent. And that
(13:21):
is how my family has done it for my entire
thirty plus years of life. We have rented a place
that we go every single summer. And I thought there
is something about living in Michigan specifically. I think that
makes people so nostalgic and so proud of where they
vacation in Michigan. Like I don't go places in the summer.
I don't go outside of our state.
Speaker 4 (13:42):
I love it.
Speaker 5 (13:42):
I love it here, and we only get those three
or four months of absolute golden goodness. So I posted
this on Facebook, and I had so many people kind
of throwing it back to where they went growing up.
And my number one spot forever will be the shores
of Lake Huron between Oscota and Tawish.
Speaker 4 (14:00):
I loved.
Speaker 5 (14:02):
We had a cottage smack dab in the middle of
Eastawas and Oscota. I know all the restaurants we went
with the same families every year. I love lake you're on.
It tends to be a warmer, great lake. It's it's beachy,
it's sandy underneath, it's not rocky. I love the sunrise
side of Michigan. I love it.
Speaker 3 (14:20):
I'd like that you call it the sunrise side of Michigan.
Speaker 4 (14:24):
The welcome you.
Speaker 3 (14:25):
Of course, I think that that is cool because you
you know, you don't often always hear people go right
to the east side, but there are some beautiful areas
out there. You're one hundred percentur right.
Speaker 5 (14:35):
I go ahead, Sarah Lake, she says, Saint Ignes has
always been our thing. We want to cross the bridge
and be over on that other side. Michelle shout it
out Saugatuck and Douglas Traverse City. John said, it's the
only place I've ever been.
Speaker 4 (14:51):
It's so good.
Speaker 5 (14:51):
We've never gone anywhere else. And I know that there's
probably some of those hidden places too. I've never stayed
in Fennville.
Speaker 4 (15:00):
There were two.
Speaker 5 (15:00):
I noticed two cottages for rent when I was at
Duvas last night in that area, and every time I
see someone there and their sunset shots over the lakes, Yeah,
oh my gosh, it's beautiful.
Speaker 3 (15:11):
You know, we used to sneak up to. I mean,
everybody knows Torch Lake is you gottle gorgeous water, But
that was where my cousin's cabin was, right on Clam River,
which if you know Clam River and Torch Lake, they
couldn't be more opposite. Clam River is straight up brown,
but it feeds right out into Torch Lake. And as
a kid, I just remember going to their cottage over
and over again, and when you'd finally get to that
(15:32):
spot where it was almost like a line in the
water where you just pull out and all of a
sudden you're basically in the Caribbean on a sandbar. Like
there's not a lot of places in other states around
the country where you're gonna get things like that.
Speaker 5 (15:45):
We're really hoping to do this very soon with our kids.
But my husband grew up on a boat and their
vacations would just be sailing the coastlines.
Speaker 3 (15:53):
That's so odd.
Speaker 5 (15:54):
You would from Holland and they would go to Charlevoi
and then they would go up and around to Mackinaw
Island and then they would circle down like just we're
so lucky to be here. And I'm just in my
fields about figuring out the summer vacation for my family
this year that I want your Michigan spots six one six, four,
five eight, one oh five seven, or if you're like Mike,
(16:17):
any place without cell phone service.
Speaker 4 (16:20):
My guy can lead us to talk back to Insider.
Speaker 3 (16:23):
I heard radio apps Back and Schmidty in the morning
on Star one oh five point seven.
Speaker 4 (16:28):
Time Spilling two, take time spill the two.
Speaker 3 (16:31):
Sweetheart. All right, start one o five point seven. Let's
do this tee time for your Friday where we always
want to hear your dirt, the gossip and all the
drama going on in your life. It's just easier to
deal with than our own. All right, hit us up
online at West Michigan Star and of course way in
six one, six, four, five eight one oh five seven
smite you mentioned it. I think this is illegal. I'm
like Maggie, I'm going off with Jerry said, all right,
(16:54):
Uh so we got a message that says my dad
is ready to nark on my sweet old neighbor. She
lives alone, and about a year ago she started feeding
the deer and everything else that live in the woods
behind our houses. Cool, but now our yard and hers
has piles of deer poop everywhere all the time. My
(17:15):
Dad's a patient and nice guy who's only politely brought
this up to her a couple of times, and she's
completely ignored him. Last week, he got a smelly smear
on his new running shoes and exploded, yelling that he
was going to call the city personally. I'm rooting for
my neighbor because I love looking at the deer too.
Speaker 5 (17:35):
No, I'm interested, Like, don't deer just have teeny tiny
little balls of droppings?
Speaker 4 (17:42):
Like this doesn't seem like that big of a deal.
Speaker 3 (17:44):
Oh I disagree. I got a deer poo all over
with my sideyard and it adds up, especially because there's
usually four of them. That come grazing together.
Speaker 4 (17:53):
I mean, we live behind woods and all over the place.
Speaker 3 (17:56):
That's good. She's bringing them onto the yard. It sounds
like feeding them right, And I don't know what their
digestive tracks are like, did they poop fast? Do they
go out?
Speaker 4 (18:03):
Jerry says this is illegal.
Speaker 5 (18:05):
I know someone who had DNRS show up at his
house and threaten him with fines for feeding deer. It's
not safe or healthy for the deer, it's not safe
or healthy for other wildlife.
Speaker 4 (18:15):
So that's where I'm going.
Speaker 5 (18:16):
If this is a legal, honey, you gotta stop because
let me tell you those DNR finds that is what
really adds up.
Speaker 3 (18:22):
Well, I got Jackie on the line from Grandville. What
do you think, Jackie?
Speaker 8 (18:26):
So if I already talked to the neighbor and they're
not really listening to me, I would spend an anonymous
letter as corney as that sounds okay, kind of scaring
them but not threatening, but letting them know. You know
the next step is going to be animal control because
there are laws against actually doing that, and you're going
to affect everyone's landscape around you and property values and
(18:46):
everything else.
Speaker 3 (18:47):
That's a good point.
Speaker 8 (18:48):
It's one of those things. It's not really a matter
of opinion. It's just what's right and what's not right.
So if they're not going to listen when you talk
to them, use an anonymous letter, and the next STEP's
going to be animal control.
Speaker 4 (18:58):
See that's this person is not listening to an anonymous letter.
Speaker 3 (19:01):
That's what I mean. Like at this point, I feel
like she's she's an old lady. What are you really
gonna do? Uh, Steven from Jennison, what do you think? Man?
Speaker 8 (19:08):
That's a tough one.
Speaker 7 (19:09):
Man.
Speaker 5 (19:10):
I think, uh, you know, elderly lady is gonna do
what she wants to do.
Speaker 3 (19:16):
That's not really a situation.
Speaker 8 (19:18):
You can talk sense the too, So I don't know.
Speaker 1 (19:21):
I think you just write that out like.
Speaker 4 (19:23):
How elderly is she? And I'll just leave it at that. Yeah,
how much longer is this gonna be a problem?
Speaker 3 (19:28):
Obviously? Though, Who hasn't stepped in some dog poo and
then just freaked out right at that moment, like you just.
Speaker 4 (19:33):
Thought, who is different to me than deer boob? I
don't know.
Speaker 5 (19:35):
I'm gonna have to take a research here in my
backyard because y'all must be having some kind.
Speaker 3 (19:39):
Of specially ge geometric deer or something six one eight
one oh five seven. And of course don't we share
your drama with this too? Hit us up at West Michigan, Star.
Speaker 1 (19:53):
Movies, Music and all the gossip in one place.
Speaker 3 (19:56):
It's the celebritiescoop on Star one oh five point seven.
Speaker 5 (20:01):
I mean, I've got to say this would be iconic.
None other than Carlos Santana wants to collaborate with Taylor Swift.
The rock legend, is on the latest episode of The
Talk Shop live stream and said it has been an
absolute dream of his to work with the thirteen time
(20:22):
Grammy winner. One of his dream collaborators. Santana revealed projects
he'd like to record with Swift, including several covers like
No Woman, No Cry by bar Bob Marley and the Whalers,
Just Like a Woman by Bob Dylan, and Natural Woman
by Carol King. For Santana, the entire idea around a
(20:43):
potential album with Taylor Swift would be focused on Goddess energy. Specifically,
Santana says he wants to create an album that both
validates and celebrates God's female side.
Speaker 4 (20:56):
Doesn't that sound incredible?
Speaker 3 (20:57):
I Mean, look, what artists wouldn't Love to Do It
album with Taylor Swift. At the same time this guy
played it would stock and he's still out there today
shredding it up.
Speaker 5 (21:05):
Well, what artist would you trust to redo? Bob Marley,
Bob Dylan, and Carol King. Wow, I've got some more
details for you with our West Michigan Star dot com scoop.
Gene Hackman and his wife Betsy's bodies are still unclaimed.
This is a very sad update on this ongoing case.
(21:25):
More than a month after the Academy Award winning actor
and wives' bodies were found, there is still no one
reaching out for them. The Office of the Medical Investigator
in New Mexico confirmed the list of unclaimed descendants is
updated online every week. Gene and Betsy's names still appear
on the list. Officials say it's not unusual for bodies
(21:49):
to remain unclaimed for up to a month after passing away,
but it is unclear why Gene and Betsy haven't had
any family reach out. They think possibly they're still working
on funeral arrange. But remember, there is a lot about
Jean's will that could be fought out here. For instance,
the way he had it written, all all of his
(22:10):
wealth and estate went to his wife, Utsy, and then
with her passing technically after him, everything apparently goes to
charity and other organizations she has chosen. Jean has three
kids who have spoken out in the press about figuring
this out.
Speaker 3 (22:26):
Yeah, that's just said all the way around. I mean,
you really hope that resentment about money and past stuff
is not the reason why these two people are still
sitting in a more.
Speaker 5 (22:37):
Am I thinking of the iconic voice like he did
Shaggy Ands, he did the top forty Forever, Jacy Casem
That's exactly what we saw. Remember that was like four
or five years before he was eventually finally laid to rest.
With that finally, it was a very big day in
court yesterday as the woman who shot and killed eighties
(22:59):
and nineties star Selena learned her fate and she will
not be free from behind bars. The decision coming down
yesterday when she stepped in front of a parole board
in Texas. This is Yolanda Saldabar's bid for freedom. The
parole board citing her violent nature with this crime and
claiming she still does pose a continuing threat to the community. Yolanda,
(23:21):
of course worked for Selena until March of nineteen ninety five,
when she was fired after being accused of embezzling money.
It was just two weeks later that Yolanda showed up,
shot and killed Selena, who was only twenty three years
old at the time. Her family was at the courthouse
yesterday saying on Instagram we received news the person that
took our beautiful sister will not be released. We believe
(23:43):
she should spend the rest of her life in prison.
As for her family, who wished to remain anonymous, spreading
false stories in the news, you've only proven to the
world you are a family of cowards. Thank you to
all those who have shown love and support and agree
that trash belongs in the trash can. Don't mess with Texas.
Speaker 3 (24:03):
Wow.
Speaker 4 (24:03):
Yeah, so still behind bars today.
Speaker 5 (24:05):
You can see exactly what went down with your scoop
at West Michigan Star dot Com.
Speaker 3 (24:11):
It's back in SCHMITTI ready to battle on this Friday morning,
Battle of the Sexiest time. Look at it gets you
out tonight with our grand Rapids Rise.
Speaker 5 (24:17):
The Columbus Fury is in town. It's Harry Potter night too,
and I have it on good authority. You can actually
meet some of your favorite Harry Potter characters at Van Handel.
All right, the Battle of the Sexes question. One hundred
men surveyed. Name something in your house that gets childproofed.
Speaker 3 (24:34):
You know, there's a lot of things, but the one
that bugged me the most was door knobs because I
could never get this.
Speaker 4 (24:39):
As an adult.
Speaker 3 (24:40):
Yeah, it was so hard to open up door.
Speaker 5 (24:42):
But I will say now that we have toddlers, they
come in real handy.
Speaker 4 (24:46):
Because you're going in for that Take five. You're gonna
sit for that.
Speaker 5 (24:50):
Take five six one six four five eight one oh
five seven dollars seven. We've got one hundred men surveyed.
Name something in your house that gets childproofed. You've got
the number one an answer. I've got Grand Rapids Rise
tickets with Star one oh five point seven.
Speaker 3 (25:08):
Good morning, start. Who's this?
Speaker 8 (25:10):
This is Carrie from Temper, Hey, Carrie.
Speaker 3 (25:12):
From cam would let's see here. One hundred gentlemen were
asked to name something in the house that gets child proofed. Carrie,
what do you think That top answer is?
Speaker 8 (25:23):
All right, we're Jimmy's answer of medicine.
Speaker 3 (25:27):
Ooh, the medicine chest. Medicine cabinet is the number five
most common answer, but it should be way higher on
the list. That's a dangerous one. Thanks right, thanks carry,
thank you. Hi Star, who's this Tim? I just heard
a good guest from Carrie. One hundred guys were asked
to name something in the house that gets child proofed,
(25:47):
and she said the medicine closet, the medicine chest. That
was the number five most common answer, though, But what
do you think the top one is? Tim?
Speaker 8 (25:55):
Oh, you don't want them to fall down the stairs.
Speaker 3 (25:57):
No, you don't want them to fall down the stairs.
Throw in one of those baby gates over there, and
that's why stairs is the number four most common answer.
Good tried, Tim, Hi Star, who's this Nicole? Nicole? I've
heard the number four and number five most common answers,
so we're moving in the right direction, but still haven't
gotten the top one. When one hundred guys were asked
to name something in the house that gets child proofed,
(26:21):
so far I heard the medicine cabinet and stairs, which
were number five and number four respectively. But what do
you think the top answer is, Nicole? Outlet the outlets. Yeah,
you got to go and stuff all those blockers into
every outlet. That you've got, and then what happens while
your kids just go and peel them out because you
gave them something on the outlet to play with. It's
(26:42):
a fun little game we all get to play with kids.
Outlets is the top answer to go away to go
all right? Yeah, it was outlets, followed by doors, then cabinets,
then the stairs in the Madison cabinet, rounding out those
top five answers. Well done, thank you, you're so welcome.
You're going to the Rise tonight versus the Columbus Fury,
and we'll have more tickets all season long for the Rise.
You go in some right now West Michigan Star dot com.
(27:07):
And of course it feels good when you're finished, and
it's always nice to have things neat. But nobody looks
forward really to spring cleaning.
Speaker 4 (27:13):
I kind of do, yeah, I do.
Speaker 3 (27:15):
I organization.
Speaker 4 (27:16):
It feel like it's just very renewing.
Speaker 3 (27:18):
Oh like that. Yeah, well, if it brings you joy.
Here's some things that you probably haven't been cleaning to
many that maybe you are some of them maybe, all right,
these are apparently the top five things that people forget
to clean that are important to clean when spring cleaning
comes around, you ever cleaned your dishwasher filter?
Speaker 4 (27:35):
Yes, yeah, Chris is very into that.
Speaker 3 (27:37):
He's very into that. Maybe Michelle's done it. But if
you told me that dishwashers had a filter, I've found
it out right now, right in this moment.
Speaker 5 (27:44):
Do it and then look at your dishes and be like, wow,
I was so gross before.
Speaker 3 (27:48):
All Right, this one's personal because I know that you're
gonna tell me range hood filters. Range hood filters. So
if you've got like one of those ranges above your stone,
here's how that I am we do. It's been broke
for over a year and a half and we haven't
cleaned it one single time because of that. Not good.
Another one I didn't know existed fridge coils. Do you
(28:11):
pull your fridge out from the wall and do the
coils behind?
Speaker 4 (28:15):
My father in law did when we moved in.
Speaker 5 (28:17):
And I'm going to tell you this one of the
the grossest things I've ever seen in my life.
Speaker 3 (28:22):
And that is the only time I have ever cleaned
a fridge coil is literally upon moving into a new
place and pulling out a refrigerator to put it in.
Speaker 4 (28:31):
Because otherwise, because now we do it every six months.
Speaker 5 (28:34):
Really, because I was so grossed out, and I'm like, dude,
that's where we keep our food.
Speaker 4 (28:38):
That's god. I'm just feel like somehow's getting in there.
Speaker 3 (28:40):
All right, This one I know you've done. We all
do it, whether or not you do it as often
as you should. Not so much. Air conditioning filters got
to do that if you've got ac Like I feel like,
at least every other year you do one of those refreshes,
those renew air conditions.
Speaker 4 (28:55):
So I'll have to tell.
Speaker 3 (28:56):
You this is fair, all right, Smindy. Last, but not least,
this is one that I know people clean. I don't
clean it because it's literally, to me, like my worst nightmare.
If I can think of a job that makes me
gag harder than any other job that is required you
of you as a homeowner, it's this. I'd rather clean
a million bathrooms than to unclog and pull the stuff
(29:17):
out of drains, to pull hair out of drains. Both
my wife and daughter have super long, thick hair, and
I don't know what it is about it, but pulling
out that mess of what looks like the girl's head
from the r kind.
Speaker 4 (29:31):
Of strangely satisfying.
Speaker 3 (29:33):
It's so disgusting.
Speaker 5 (29:35):
I will give you one that's not on the list,
and y'all can thank me later because this could actually
save your home.
Speaker 4 (29:41):
Clean your dryer.
Speaker 3 (29:41):
Hose ooh yeah, that's what I don't know.
Speaker 4 (29:44):
Clean your dryer hose. I'm not talking your dryer vent.
Speaker 5 (29:47):
I mean the kind of connected aluminum hose from your
dryer to the outside. It is egg gonna dryer clothes
faster and be make you really question your existence with
what could be on your clothes that you're wearing out
in public.
Speaker 3 (29:59):
What the one thing you either just put it off
because you hate it or you always forget. You can
hit us up on Facebook at West Michigan Star sometime.
Does that get a good feeling? Yeah, they'll let that
glooming these soundside follow you inside. Feeling good right now
and starting a five point seven what's happened to smiddy?
You know?
Speaker 5 (30:17):
I will tell anyone that one of my most favorite
meals in the whole wide world is mac and cheese.
I love the craft cheesiest mac blues, and so does
one Holland teen, Charlie diister Mars. He's fourteen and has
founded a nonprofit called Mac and Cheese Ministries.
Speaker 4 (30:37):
I love this. He's helping to curb the.
Speaker 5 (30:39):
Issue of food insecurity all across West Michigan. So he
sat down with Box seventeen and actually said the first
idea came to him because he loves mac and cheese.
Speaker 9 (30:49):
Ever since I was little, Mac and cheese is in
my absolute favorite food. When I was in fifth grade,
my friends and I wanted to start a mac and
cheese club. What better idea to take mac and cheese
in Jesus and like do something good with them.
Speaker 5 (31:02):
And they have been doing a ton of good. They've
hosted picnics, fundraisers, five k's to deliver as much mac
and cheese as possible to food pantries all across West Michigan.
Speaker 4 (31:14):
Ottawa County. Specifically, over thirty.
Speaker 5 (31:17):
Two thousand people struggle with food insecurity, and Charlie knows
that's almost eleven percent of their population.
Speaker 4 (31:23):
This is a serious issue.
Speaker 5 (31:25):
Him and his dad go around and they add to
micro food pantries, neighborhood pantries, literally any place in need,
they show up, mac and cheese in hand, ready to
help out.
Speaker 4 (31:36):
It's gotten to be such a big deal.
Speaker 5 (31:38):
Charlie was even invited to do a TED talk last
year that he says is the entire point of this mission.
Speaker 9 (31:46):
Our goal from the beginning was not only like just
reread Jesus's love through Mac and Cheese, but one of
the things that touched my friend's and I so much
from the beginning was no kid should not be able
to experience Mac and Cheese.
Speaker 4 (32:00):
Amen.
Speaker 5 (32:01):
My brother Mac and Cheese Ministries so far has donated
over twenty thousand boxes to feed those in men.
Speaker 3 (32:08):
I mean, that's awesome. What a good heart and good taste.
I love it do That's awesome, schmiddy. This is so
sweet A bittersweet, of course, As any dog owner pet
owner would tell you, those final days if your pet's
life are really tough and you just want to make
them as fun and as pleasurable and as packed with
life as you can. But it's often done by the
owners and not complete strangers. But for Honey, a fourteen
(32:31):
year old yellow lab in Indianapolis, she just got an
incredible farewell thanks to her entire community. Her owner was
a truck driver, had recently passed away, and immediately Honey
was taken to a nonprofit there in Indianapolis called SORE,
which supports people in pet stirring times of crisis. Well
her health was really declined and she wasn't getting any better.
(32:52):
So the group decided to ask on social media if
there were any truckers out there that would volunteer to
give Honey one last ride in honor of her late owner. Well,
not one or two responded, not even dozens. More than
a hundred people commented offering to give Honey this final ride.
So she didn't just do one, She did three final rides.
(33:14):
Her favorite thing, getting the sit shotgun rested between tree
seats and her favorite pitch stop of the mall, going
to get some chicken nuggets at Wendy Schmidty, grabbing some
chicken nuggies. Robert Axom was one of those truck drivers
that decided to take time out of his busy schedule
to help out Honey, and he was all for it.
It's always surprising to see what it is that brings.
Speaker 2 (33:36):
You know, people together in whatever way that is, for
anything that you know could make an animal happy.
Speaker 3 (33:43):
I'm all the way in on that, anything that could
make an animal happy, all the way in on that.
Angela Hobson, she is the director of Sword and she
gets it. Some people might think this is silly, but
for honey, it was huge.
Speaker 2 (33:55):
It's affirming that you take like I know some people
think it's silly too do all this for a pet
and before they're going to pass, but it has been
transformative for her happiness.
Speaker 3 (34:07):
For her happiness, chicken nuggies in one last ride for
a sweet.
Speaker 4 (34:10):
Puff, that's also my happiness.
Speaker 3 (34:14):
You guys, mind if we just roll through the drive
through on a nice truck ride. I like that feeling
good coming at you a couple of times a day.
I always want to share something uplifting with you. We'll
do it again on Monday, six forty five and nine
twenty right here on Star Mack and Schmidty in the
morning weekdays starting at six am on Star one oh
five point seven
