(00:00):
This is between two shows podcast oniHeartRadio. Hey, what's up. I'm
Dave and I'm Jen and it's Phil. All right, Jen, you start
by telling us about your wonderful uberdriver experience. Listen, I've been taking
ubers for years. Okay, Ihave never had a big issue with an

(00:22):
uber. Okay. I might havegrown up in one one time and that
was a big issue for me andfor the driver. Well, really,
eighty dollars cleaning fee is tacked onthe air bill, you know, so
be careful there. But AnyWho,as we are getting an uber home on
fourth of July night, I havea rather misogynistic driver who proceeds to tell

(00:43):
me that women think that we're busierthan we are, that we don't really
have any worries in the world, that really men are the ones who bare
all the burden of everything. Okay, and tell him how this came up.
Well, so, our buddy Regiswas in the car and we drop
You have a buddy named Regis.Yeah, you are hilarious. I'm taking

(01:10):
that's fantastic. We dropped Regis offfirst, but while we're driving with him
in the car, I was tellingRegis and I have told him this a
million times. He's heard this fromme a million times, that he needs
a dog, you know, heneeds a little companion, somebody hang with,
you know, take him around tothe park whatever. I was like,
buddy, you need a dog.And as soon as I say that,
the uber driver says, women theythink they know what men want.

(01:33):
And I'm like, oh my god, if you couldn't have been more condescending,
Oh my god. So I'm sureJin's blood pressure just skyrocket at her
face just flooded with blood. Yeah, absolutely, so not happy, okay,
but I did try to bring himover to my side, so I
was like, actually, no,I have a full time job and two
children and two dogs and family membersand I take care of a lot actually,

(01:55):
And he just kept on. Hewas like, oh, you think
you have a lot to do,but really it's the man that bears all
that bird. I'm like, dudu. I wanted to punch him in the
back of the head so bad.And Heath stayed quiet, thank god,
because you know, Heath is like, listen, he's the one driving us
home right now. Let's get outat our home safely, and then you

(02:19):
can tell him what you think ofhim. Okay, I'm a good call.
He is smarter than I am.But yeah, I was not thrilled
with that fella. I gotta tellyou. But worst Uber driver experience,
I'd say, typically in an Uber, I don't talk to you. Okay,
if you pick me up, Isay, hi, is your name
so and so to make sure thatthat's Uber, And then I say okay,
Hi, I'm Jen. I getin, I say okay, well

(02:42):
take me to my place. Blahblah blah. That's it. The whole
ride. Do stay silent, andthen you get dropped off and you say
thanks so much for the right, have a good night. You get out
and that's it. But I thinkit's a great opportunity to have a conversation
with someone you don't know, maybeget to know him a little bit.
So we use Uber twice headed toour cruise. Wanted to take us from

(03:02):
the hotel to the ship, andthen once we got back from the ship
to the hotel in our car,and we had two very different drivers.
Now they were both outstanding rating, right you know, they both had the
premium rating five stars. Whatever.Yeah, first guy didn't want to conversafe
at all. I told the kidsbefore we got in I said, we're

(03:23):
about to have some fun with theZuber driver. I just feel like this
guy, I think his name islike Demetrius or something. And I said,
this guy is gonna be so cool. We're gonna have fun. It's
gonna be a twenty minute drive. It's gonna go by so fast. We
get in the car, I'm upfront with him, tracing. The kids
are in the back, and everyquestion I asked him was like one answer,

(03:45):
like, hey, man, whereare you from Saint Augustine? Okay?
And I said, so do youhave family here? Oh my god?
He said yeah. I was like, you know, Dave's trying to
ask him all these questions. Thisman is thinking in his head, oh
shut up. I don't want toone of those guys. But I mean,
how does the guy with no personalityget a five star rating on Uber?

(04:10):
Maybe that's why that's a five starrating, because people don't want to
get in and talk. No,they don't want to get to their destination
with minimal speaking. I don't know. I felt like, look, I
see both sides of this, becauseI can understand you want to have a
little conversation, make the make thetrip go by a little bit. Quicker.
But at the same time, ifyou're reserved and you don't want to
say anything, I get it.But I've never ever taken an uber.

(04:32):
I've never never taken it, nevertaken an oper Have you ever taken a
taxi? I have taken a taxionce. Did you have a wonderful,
glowing conversation with that? I rememberthat. It was so long ago,
yeah, nineteen eighty two. Itwas DC Cab. I think you remember
that movie with mister t. No. Went to Miami, Florida once and

(04:54):
I took a taxi from the airportdown to High Lea Gardens, which was
a long, long drive. Ididn't realize how long of a drive it
was. He was like forty minutes. Oh god, yeah, but I
was down there for a basketball trip, and I, again, I had
no clue how far it was.I didn't say that much along the way,
and he didn't say that much alongthe way either. But I mean,
that's okay. So that thing,it's very quick and like, hey,

(05:15):
how are you doing? Good houseyour day? Oh it's great,
okay, thanks and whatever. Butyou don't need to be like, so
what's your mother's maiden name? No, how many kids do you have?
What ages are they? Where didthey go to school? You know you
can read the room though, Imean right, I mean if you talk
to him he says something in alittle conversation, then that okay, I
get it. That was the experienceon the way back there go. His
name was Jeff See I remembered hisname. He was a very nice guy.

(05:43):
He also asked questions, kept theconversation going. We found out a
lot about him, he found outa lot about us. And that twenty
minutes boom went by lickety split. And it was a good conversation. It
was a It was a fun dude, and you still feel safe and secure
in your home. You've told thesuper driver all about you. We're from
Ironton, Ohio. I've got threekids and a wife, and I'm on

(06:04):
the radio and I tell you he'sgonna find you in a heartbeat. Buddy,
Oh my mean but he's a goodguy. A quick question though,
So you said Phil to read theroom right, So when you get a
feeling you might feel a little morelike, Okay, well I can talk
to this guy. But when youget the feeling of no, they're not
having it, maybe you should shutit down. Dave didn't do that,

(06:25):
though. Dave continued to ask asmany questions as he could think of.
It was like twenty questions for Daveon this twenty minute drive and this guy
sitting here like, I'm giving thisman one word answers. Why is he
not shutting up? Yeah, likehe's gonna give you a bad rating,
and be like, don't pick upthis chatty, Cathy. I don't want
to tell you. Is that athing? You race this passenger too?

(06:45):
I mean they do in there.I don't know what care that they're texting.
There are other people at you.I would pick him up if you
don't want to talk today, don'tpick this guy. Yea. By the
way, his name's Dave. He'sgot a wife and three kids. He
lives in Ironton, Ohio. He'son the rood your tone him everything after
my god, cash Cab. Iwill totally play Cash Cab to win some

(07:10):
money and to talk to that funnice fella because that's a game show.
But in real life, dude, nobody wants to talk to you. I
gotta tell you. It's tough, right, you know. I mean,
like I said, just read theroom. But my parents always told me
when I was a kid. Don'tget in cars with strangers. So that's
I think that's why. Well,Yeahura in twenty twenty four. We don't
care. We call the strangers topick us up and give them money and

(07:32):
give them our address, like,oh, hi, this is my full
name and address. If you coulddrop me off there, that'd be great.
Oh, by the way, i'ma little test save God. Well
that seems like a rap. Checkback weekly in case we do something.
