Speaker 1 (00:03):
Use headlines and the talk you need. This is Charleston's
Morning News with Kelly and Blaze on ninety four to
three WUSC.
Speaker 2 (00:12):
Welcome into a Friday edition of this show. We're talking
about the President Trump potentially securing a deal regarding the
China tariff war, who the President himself said, it's just
too bad it wasn't reported enough. Soon.
Speaker 3 (00:25):
We're a very good check with China and the trade deal.
Speaker 2 (00:28):
We have a deal with China, as.
Speaker 1 (00:31):
You know, but we were traightening out some of the
points having to do mostly with rare earth.
Speaker 2 (00:38):
Mag ditson. He goes on to say in some other
important things.
Speaker 3 (00:42):
Yeah, he said, it's very complex, and so you know,
this is not something that you get done overnight.
Speaker 2 (00:50):
Well, and it's you know, the unfortunate timing of the
news cycle. It just got buried. So thank goodness here
we are talking about this morning. But I do find
it in interesting with the dust up with Elon that
I'm reading more and more about Musk and his ties
with China and how the two riff on that and
(01:10):
are divided on China and given the EV market and
you know Elon's business and so I mean some are
saying it needs to be investigated now at this point
with the fallout, you know, even Seizing Space actually got
bannoned out here saying that he wants to deport Elon.
(01:32):
You know, you got to remember, you know, as the
president does that China and no one should ever forget
is our biggest deal political adversary. And so you know,
Elon apparently feels differently about China, and some are suggesting
I was listening to it was a bright Bart podcast
(01:52):
last night that they were saying that this may soon
come to head to their differences. They're having a hash
out sit down conversation today Elon and Trump. So you
better bet this is going to come up potentially, well,
who knows.
Speaker 3 (02:08):
What's going to come up. I mean they need to
bury the hatchet for the good of the country. Yes,
And and Elon's going to lose this battle because I
don't think Mega is going to side. You know, if
you listen, and I was in it. I listened to
the left wing outlets a lot because I pretty much
am familiar with the right. What the right wing outlet
(02:28):
is going to say and what they're reporting, So it's
I'm always curious to see what, you know, what the
left is how they frame these stories, and you know,
and they're framing it as you know, this this huge
fight in Mega is divided and it shows the cracks
in the Mega party and they're going to have to
(02:49):
choose the side. And which side are they going to choose?
I don't think that's going to happen.
Speaker 2 (02:53):
They're on Trump's side yet again they're wrong, and.
Speaker 3 (02:56):
You know, and Trump has to is in the position
where he has to look out for the entire country.
Elon has to look out for Elon and his companies.
So I can see his position, you know, as far
as it because he's a businessman, and he's also running
a publicly traded company, right Tesla and SpaceX publicly traded,
(03:18):
I don't remember. But anyway, you know, he's the head
of these huge companies and he has people to answer to.
You know, he's not the sole owner that can just
go do what he wants and drive the business into
the ground if he sees fit, or if that's what
his preference is, to go concentrate on something else. He
has to satiate his board and the stockholders and make
(03:43):
the decisions that are right for his company. And that's
going to be naturally at odds with what some of
what Trump wants to do to do the same thing
for the United States of America.
Speaker 2 (03:55):
Well, this tantrum was disrespectful and I don't know how
it possible Elon in any way could think that this
would be you know, a good thing for his brand.
And I've talked about Elon's we both have, you know,
his his virtues of whether it's you know, rescuing Twitter
on X and how what that meant to our free speech,
whether it's maybe saving America you know, fiscally and financially
(04:19):
with the work at DOGE and uncovering so much that
abuse of our we the American taxpayers money. But he's
also you know, you can't sit here and demand subsidies
on one end while uncovering these ridiculous subsidies on the other.
It makes you look hypocritical. I mean, at the very least,
(04:41):
I would think this looks completely unprofessional of him. It's embarrassing.
It just it's coming across as unhinged and frankly baffles
me as a business owner.
Speaker 3 (04:52):
Well, the right is you know, some on the right,
these spokespeople that they I won't say, send out that
in a lot of cases even just pretend to be
spokespeople for the right, right so they can get their
face on TV. A lot of them. It's funny the
subtle digs that they take, and sometimes not so subtle.
Steve Bannon wasn't so subtle, no, you know when he
(05:14):
said the government needs to seize SpaceX after Elon, you know,
threatened to pull the rocket the dragon, which is the
only we saw how we rescued those astronauts in space,
and so right now it's the only link between the
space station that we have. And so Steve Bannon says, well,
(05:37):
the government needs to seize the company then, and yes,
deport Elon, which doesn't make any he says he's here illegally,
but Elon's been a naturalized citizen for years. But it's
funny the subtleties to which these other commenters go to
kind of get their digs in. But so pretty much
they're calling out and they haven't used the word drugs,
(06:00):
but they're intimating that Elon's drug use is causing his
erratic behavior.
Speaker 2 (06:07):
Oh he did call I saw a live I don't
know if it was live, but I saw clip last night.
Was been in actually calling out drug use.
Speaker 3 (06:14):
Well, I just said other than Bannon.
Speaker 2 (06:16):
Oh okay, I didn't hear that part.
Speaker 3 (06:18):
But these other you know, these other so called spokespeople
on the right that you know, get on TV that
are guests on all these shows that don't necessarily represent
the Trump administration or the right for that matter, but
they position themselves as such. And you know, so they're
talking about, you know, intimating that his drug use is
(06:40):
affecting his behavior and how he's acting all erratic and
the subtle digs that they they take it him and
you know, and we're.
Speaker 2 (06:49):
Going to bring up the fact that Elon comes from
a divorce broken home at the age of ten and
doesn't have a great relationship with his dad. Like how
far down the emotional ridiculous hole going to go with
some of this?
Speaker 3 (07:01):
Well, I would say, you know, with Elon's behavior, there's
a whole lot of people that are geniuses and a
lot of times they're on the fringe of the spectrum actually,
and they're quirky.
Speaker 2 (07:13):
I mean, there's I mean, there's all kinds of stuff
out here. I don't know to believe, but some are
reporting that nobody in the White House surrounding the President
even likes the Elon and this has been boiling up
for some time. Can you imagine the books that are
going to come out of this.
Speaker 3 (07:26):
Maybe they're going to have a field day with it.
They already are. Look at the you know, I haven't
been listening to the TV, but you know it plays
in the background in here, and that's been plastered all
over the TV all morning long.
Speaker 2 (07:37):
And what really should be the largest headline of this
Friday edition of the show that Trump had an hour
and a half phone call with Chia of China to
potentially end this tariff war that unfortunately was buried by
baby Elon's disrespectful tantrum. That is my opinion. Certainly we
invite tours seven to one talk seven two five five.
(07:58):
Jose has been waiting on the line. He says, Blaze,
it's all ruse.
Speaker 4 (08:01):
The whole thing between mister Musk and the President is
choreographed so that the moves media can focus light on
the people that are holding up the big beautiful bill.
And I believe it's all been discussed and it's all
going to come out today in the press conference with
a big bow on it.
Speaker 2 (08:17):
I am not buying that.
Speaker 3 (08:18):
No, I'm not either and a lot of people in
a lot of callers that has got off the line
with Roy and he said the same thing that this
is and he said, you know, I don't know, but
this could be a masterclass of fort hs. And I'm like,
and I told Jose the same thing. I understand why
people think that, but I think it's too risky because
(08:39):
if it doesn't work, you just blew everything up in
your face. And if you're a good risk manager, you
probably don't want to go that far.
Speaker 2 (08:47):
Look at the numbers. As a result of this feud,
Tesla's stock has sunk fourteen percent. That is a racing
about one hundred and fifty billion with a b dollars
in market value. You think from Musk, who has already
taken a massive hit from all of this, that he
would do this and agree to this. Now, this is
(09:09):
not a trip and distract. Unfortunately, I think it would
be easier for us to handle because it's awkward and
it makes me sick a little my stomach.
Speaker 3 (09:16):
Well, I mean, the main reason they think this is
because they think it's forcing the Democrats hands hand in
redacting and releasing you know, the Epstein files. But even that,
I don't understand because it's not the Democrats that are
holding it up, it's Pam Bondi and stuff. Ironically enough,
at this point it's like, go ahead and get it
(09:37):
out there.
Speaker 2 (09:38):
Well, and there's another layer to this, and how incredibly
disrespectful it seems. At the very least, that's a nice
way of putting it, that Elon is intimating that Trump
is a pedophile our president. I mean, that is disturbing.
Do you really think that if there was something huge
here that the previous regime wouldn't have wielded this like
(09:59):
a mas of weapons so as to win the previous
election back in November.
Speaker 3 (10:04):
Come on, yeah, they would have used it against him
already totally. And it's pretty well documented that Trump once
he found out, and yes there's pictures of him with
Jeffrey Epstein, and yes he's met with him before, as
has anybody. Everybody, every single person in a position of power,
has some kind of connection to Jeffrey Epstein. But Trump,
(10:27):
it's well documented, distanced himself from Epstein once he found
out what a creep he was. And that was years
and years and years ago, before any of these scandals
came out, and before we knew what we now know
about Jeffrey Epstein.
Speaker 2 (10:43):
So yeah, like I said, kicked him out of Morro Lago.
I mean, they're having us sit down to Elon and Trump today.
Let's all hope, wish and pray. Someone actually mentioned last
night there's like a forty eight hour rule when you fight.
Have you heard of that? Maybe between you and your
spouse or whatever. Is there some kind of forty eight
hour rule?
Speaker 3 (10:59):
I mean, I'm maybe in some kind of self help,
you know stuff. I don't know.
Speaker 2 (11:04):
I came across that last night where they were like,
give it forty eight hours, so we'll see.
Speaker 3 (11:07):
Yeah. Well, I mean, I mean you can say that
about just about anything, right, give time for the dust
to settle. And we're not talking about Trump's conversation with
Jiji and Ping. We're not talking about Trump's a meeting
with the German Chancellor in the Oval Office where he
got in his face too. And you know, because today
is the anniversary of D Day, we should point out
(11:31):
and Trump talked about that in the Oval Office with
the German Chancellor.
Speaker 2 (11:36):
Well I'll point out we are talking about it, so
happy to hear it. Seven thirty. Welcome in. We'll continue
to revisit the big Ugly fight erupting from the Big
Beautiful Bill. But there are a lot of things to
talk about on this Friday edition of the show.
Speaker 3 (11:48):
Certainly is recovering this morning's top stories. Is economic uncertainty
affecting your bottom line? Economic uncertainty is taking a toll
on retirement accounts. According to Fidela the Investments, which is
the largest provider of four oh wen K plans in
the United States, average individual retirement account balances have decreased
(12:08):
by four percent. The findings come even as savings rates
hit a record high in the last quarter. The analysis
was reported on the heels of news that the US
gross domestic product shrank zero point three percent during the
first quarter of this year, which shows you how important
these trade talks with Shishi Ping are and the meeting
(12:30):
with the German Chancellor and everything else we've been ignoring
in order to talk about Trump and Elon's spat.
Speaker 2 (12:39):
Yeah, and when you say we certainly not us, but yes,
the propaganda press who are going to continue to be
running with this. But you know, doesn't this with regards
to the reaction weeks back or even months at this point,
because Trump's in office what four months now announcing the
tariffors and how it affected the market, and many people saying,
just ignore what's going on with your bottom line and
(13:01):
your four to oh one k. Well that's hard to
do when your four oh one k and bottom line
has been affected for the last four years, frankly. And
then this didn't help, and then you have the reactionary market,
and then who do you believe and do you do
anything or you just stay the course. It all depends
on are you drawing from your retirement, you know, do
you move your money into gold? I mean, there's a
(13:24):
lot of things to dig into with this one.
Speaker 3 (13:27):
You shouldn't be reactionary, as my opinion on a lot
of this stuff, unless you really know what you're doing.
And there's not that many people that really know what
they're doing. And that's not an insult I'm one of them.
I mean, who has time to go through the minutes
of these companies? You know what, if you're going to
individually pick stocks and play that game, you better damn
(13:49):
well be sure that you're informed with what's going on
in these companies that you're investing in, and you need
to go read the minutes and you need to take
the time to do your due diligence on each of them.
A lot of people don't have that time. That's why
they're in mutual funds and gold and things like that.
And if that's where you are, you know, I would
and I'm no financial expert, and maybe I'm totally wrong,
(14:11):
but I'd say just leave it alone and don't touch it.
And unless you're at the end of your working career
and you're going to have to rely on that money
sometime soon, then yes, pay extra attention to it and
maybe move it somewhere safer, and you know, get a
financial advisor that you can trust. And there's a lot
(14:32):
of those too, that same thing. They don't know what's
going on. It reminds me of when they took a
group of monkeys and compared their picks toial financial advisor's picks,
and the monkey's actually performed better. So go find yourself
a smart monkey.
Speaker 2 (14:47):
That's why I say it depends on where you are
in your retirement journey, how people react. And look at
just two months back with regards to the tariff fights,
and here we are to this day where there's a
hour and a half call with Trump and it's turning
out that it looks like we're coming to an end
of this drama. But if you jumped two months ago,
(15:08):
you lost money, and if you stayed the course, you're
okay and maybe gained you know, financially, yes.
Speaker 3 (15:14):
And you know, and I deal with these type things
in real estate all the time too, where people literally
have these hair brained ideas. They were coming to me
like last year, the year before, and they're like, man,
this market's really taken off and it's a bubble and
it's going to crash, and I'm going to sell my
house and go rent and then when the prices go down,
I'm going to come back in. And I'm like, that's
(15:35):
the worst idea I ever heard. Literally, So anyway, you know,
unless you really again know what you're doing, find yourself
a smart monkey, or leave your money alone. We appreciate
you listening on this Friday morning. I hope you're doing well.
So they're all right with men and women's sports, but
this is just going too far. In California, track Star
(15:58):
has lost your state tuttle for the way she celebrated
her win at the championships. The governing Board for Sports
in California The CIF disqualified Clara Adams from North Salina's
High for grabbing a fire extinguisher and using it to
pretend to put out her spikes as if they were
on fire after she won the four hundred meter event.
(16:20):
The CIF says it was unsportsmanlike. Clara's dad says the
stunt was done away from other competitors and wasn't meant
to be disrespectful. He also said, the crowd loved it.
You gotta admit, I mean that's pretty funny.
Speaker 2 (16:32):
I think it's epic. And you know what, Dad, take
your daughter out of California. Please get the hell out
of there.
Speaker 3 (16:38):
And the dad is I think actually the one I
read in the story where he handed her the fire extinguisher. So,
but I mean, that's funny.
Speaker 2 (16:48):
You didn't actually pull the pin, right, Yes, so she
sprayed her shoes. I don't thought she said she mimicked
doing so, so she actually she used it.
Speaker 3 (16:59):
She pulled the pin and used in sprayed the fire
extinguisher on her.
Speaker 2 (17:03):
Spikes own shoes.
Speaker 3 (17:05):
Yes, pretending to put out her spikes as if they
were on fire after she won.
Speaker 2 (17:10):
Well see, now to me that that adds a little
bit something extra to the story because maybe someone thought
she was actually in peril.
Speaker 3 (17:17):
Oh come on, I'm just saying, I think that's quite
a stretch.
Speaker 2 (17:22):
Well, I don't.
Speaker 3 (17:23):
They don't like that she celebrated. They're all right with
men with pps competing against the women running around the track.
Speaker 2 (17:31):
Agree with you on that, but they're not alright.
Speaker 3 (17:32):
With you know, you know, a display of bravado and celebration.
I think in the NFL, if they spike the ball
or whatever.
Speaker 2 (17:41):
I'd like to see the video how far away she
was from other people at the end of the day.
Stripping her of her title is way too far, especially
given which you know, the idea that you're okay with women,
you know, losing titles to men in their own leagues.
That's absurd.
Speaker 3 (17:57):
Well, they say she was not around the other competitors.
The crowd loved it. And even if she was close
to the other competitors, So what.
Speaker 2 (18:03):
I can't even believe. I mean, it's California, Like I said,
get dad, take your daughter and run.
Speaker 3 (18:09):
I think that's pretty epic. Actually, I think that's funny.
Speaker 1 (18:14):
