Speaker 1 (00:00):
Thank you, ma'am.
Speaker 2 (00:01):
Dying for in the morning quickie on ninety a rock
brought to you by the bar too. For it is
currently seventy two degrees outside. You can kind of feel
the mugginess a little bit when you walk out there,
as opposed to the last few days here otherwise cloudy skies.
High of ninety outside the bay, about eighty eighty inside
the bay.
Speaker 1 (00:18):
A good morning, oh, good morning, crash And speaking of
the number eighty eight, that is the age of Pope
Francis upon his passing. In case you missed it, it was
announced this morning that he had passed away. Of course,
this coming after his public appearance yesterday for Easter Sunday,
you know, gave the blessing, even had a little surprise
appearance in the popemobile.
Speaker 2 (00:38):
Crowd was going nuts to me, let's see him out
there actually doing it. Yeah, So it was just a
big day apparently before his death there, I mean, yeah.
Speaker 1 (00:46):
Which you know, he was just recently, what not even
a week or two or a couple of weeks ago,
released from the hospital after his you know serious bout
you know, almost he almost died from that double pneumonia
and which only has one long. He lost part of
the long when he was younger due to another illness,
so he's been legendary. He took office in March of
(01:07):
twenty thirteen. Was known for being informal in his style.
He's very humble. He also, you know, included not living
in the papal apartments but instead, you know, insisted on
living in a modest guesthouse, among other things, his.
Speaker 2 (01:21):
Own food too. I mean, it was like he was
all the help. When you live in that path and
the Vatican, everything's done for it. It's like its own
little city. And in fact that he cooked his own meals.
Speaker 1 (01:31):
Yeah, he'd buck tradition at times and even addressed some
major controversies, including sexual abuse by priests and mandated new
reporting roles. He also stressed that the LGBT community be
accepted and welcomed, among other things, and he also slightly
opened the door for women to become more active in
the business of the church, just not as deacons or
priest which. Francis will be the first pope since Pope
(01:53):
Leo the Eighth to be buried outside the Vatican. He'll
be laid to rest in a simple wooden casket. It
over in Rome, his body will be moved to a
chapel right away and be placed into a coffin immediately.
They say, the funeral will be simple, skipping many of
the fancy touches that he did not like. No date
has been set yet for his funeral. Meanwhile, what happens now?
(02:16):
When will we receive or when will we see a
new pope that'll be elected by the College of Cardinals
in a private gathering, which that meeting is secret with
no electronic communication to the outside world. They say, cardinals
who are under eighty are summoned to the Vatican in
which then they vote in secret on paper ballots. The
ballots are burned and white smoke signal signals a successful election. Meanwhile,
(02:39):
if no result is reached, a runoff election occurs between
the top two candidates. And they say, all this can
take hours or days.
Speaker 3 (02:49):
What if they get locked up? But who do put
it in that spot? Right there? Is it going to
be anybody else? That's going to be a first? All
kinds of interesting things going on there, man, Yeah, all.
Speaker 1 (02:59):
Right, yeah, he was still he was. He was the
first pope to be elected from the Americas. And did
you know he also used to be a bouncer at
a night club back in the day. Yeah, he in
addition to being a let's see her, he was a
bouncer or a dorman. He did, but he was also
a sweeper and worked in a chemical job and also
(03:19):
teaching in high school a long long time ago before
transitioning to this.
Speaker 3 (03:23):
Yeah, okay, true story.
Speaker 1 (03:25):
I think the next one's going to be Italian. Yeah,
because he was. He was from South America, is from
like right, he was, but his family Italian as well.
Speaker 3 (03:34):
I think the one before that I think might have
been from Germany. So I think this time could be
an Italian.
Speaker 2 (03:38):
I was just overhearing another broadcast talk about you know
what noster domis had predicted about a particular pope and
the next succession and all that stuff we'll talk about
in the POSHA podcast.
Speaker 3 (03:51):
The star got is coming up, all right.
Speaker 1 (03:53):
So, for the past year, the Tampa Bay Area is
solved the largest increase in grocery prices of any metropolitan
area in the continental US.
Speaker 3 (04:02):
Y one number one.
Speaker 1 (04:05):
New study but conducted by a smart asset found the
grocery prices went up four point three percent between March
of last year and March of this year. Why all
they see in the continental US, Florida is the hardest
to get to rout. There's no rail, there's no other
mass infrastructure going on other than trucking, and the Tampa
market in particular is somewhat isolated, so almost all food
(04:25):
items are brought into our area through trucking. And guess what,
there's also a nationwide truck driver shortage. So a lot
of things leading to this.
Speaker 3 (04:34):
We're making some money, be kind a trucker right now.
Speaker 1 (04:35):
It's all for real, which unfortunately don't expect prices to
go down for at least another six months, especially with
the uncertainty surrounding the future of the tariffs.
Speaker 3 (04:44):
Just another reason not to move to Florida.
Speaker 1 (04:49):
It's terrible, something not so terrible, Snoopop. You know yesterday
was Easter was also four twenty and so Snoop reposted
a photo of himself us as the Easter Bunny and
then gifted us with the video for Last Dance with
Mary Jane, Doctor Dre and Jelly Roll are in it,
and there's even animated depictions of the late Great Florida Man,
(05:11):
Tom Patty Swells, Bob Marley, Tupac, method Man, Redman, be
real and whiz Khalifa Wow all right? Which Speaking of
Jelly and his latest interview alongside Luke Bryan on The
Jennifer Hudson Show, she asked the question, what's the most
embarrassing thing that's ever happened to you while performing? And
before Luke could even say a word, that's when Jelly said,
(05:32):
I pooped myself one time.
Speaker 3 (05:34):
I did.
Speaker 1 (05:34):
I'm sorry.
Speaker 3 (05:35):
I was confident it was all air.
Speaker 2 (05:37):
It was not never coast the fart man, never come on, Jelly,
never crust a fart.
Speaker 1 (05:44):
And then the world first. Beijing hosted the world's first
half marathon featuring humanoid robots competing alongside human runners this
past weekend. The race saw twenty one bipedal robots from
various Chinese companies navigating a thirteen point one mile course.
They say the stand up performer was a tig On Ultra,
(06:04):
which the robot completed the race in two hours and
forty minutes. But before you get too impressed, guess what
the fastest human finish the same race in an hour
and two minutes.
Speaker 4 (06:15):
We're a number one.
Speaker 1 (06:18):
We're a number one.
Speaker 4 (06:19):
It was It was funny watching the video because that
robot was controlled by a remote control. So there was
a guy just like a foot behind him, just running
behind him, and they had to change batteries and it
was like an old pit crew following him.
Speaker 1 (06:31):
It was also interesting seeing some of the other robots
that performed on this as well, falling over and yeah
not a you know, robots of different strengths and statures.
Speaker 3 (06:40):
The fact that robots were running at a race, yeah,
horrifies me.
Speaker 1 (06:44):
I I was warming up doing push ups before the race.
The robot it was, yike.
Speaker 2 (06:48):
Kind of opens it up for one other versus robot.
Stuff's gonna happen down the road. There's any suggestions on
the talk back.
Speaker 1 (06:55):
About the hot dog eating competition right now?
Speaker 2 (06:57):
Laugh there, Yeah, get him too as well. Get those
questions for Star Gouds there. Just apply your birthday to it,
the birthday of anybody else involved in your very interesting question.
We'll put those in que for the Star guid it's
coming up.
