Hey, y'all, it's Denise's podcast. I got a fun interview
for you today from country superstar Landy Wilson. She has
seven number one singles on country radio and she just
dropped a new studio album called Whirlwind, so good you
guys have to listen to it. Plus she's in the
Twister soundtrack and Oh, Yellowstones coming back? Is she gonna
(00:25):
be in it? We also talk about that little rumor
that's gone around before Laney Wilson doesn't write about love songs. Well,
she had to wait until she meant the right guy,
and I think she has. We have a lot to
talk about today, so let's get to it then. Hey, Lany,
how are you?
Speaker 1 (00:41):
I am great? How are you doing today?
Speaker 2 (00:42):
I am doing excellent, but not as good as Lanny Wilson.
Like if I eat all my vegetables and I'm nice
to my husband. God, can I be Landy Wilson?
Speaker 1 (00:50):
Oh my gosh, you're funny.
Speaker 2 (00:52):
I'm seeing right now. Congratulations on the success of your
new album, Whirlwind.
Speaker 1 (00:59):
Thank you. I mean it's been crazy, it really has
been a whirlwind. And the way everything's going, I kind
of feel like this is going to start another one.
Speaker 2 (01:08):
Just watching your career grow, it's amazing. Triple threat singer,
songwriter and actress. I heard you're going to be back
on Yellowstone again.
Speaker 1 (01:16):
I am going to be back on Yellowstone and I'm
very excited to be talking about it. For a long time,
they told me I couldn't say anything, so it feels
good to say I'll be back on Yellowstone.
Speaker 2 (01:26):
Is your music also going to be featured on Yellowstone
again this season?
Speaker 1 (01:30):
I'm hoping, So we're not sure just yet, Like I
don't have my lines and my script just yet, but
we'll see what happens.
Speaker 2 (01:38):
How do you manage all of this? This is a
dream for somebody just to have a number one single
hit on country radio, and here comes Lanny Wilson, who
is true country. And you stood in your own beliefs
and look at those success you've had. Congratulations.
Speaker 1 (01:52):
I'm getting tired of myself, Denise, I'm missing But it's funny.
I'll be riding down the road and I'll see my
face on a billboard and kind of just like forget
that it's me.
Speaker 2 (02:02):
Yeah, And you're even at the box office with Twisters.
You're everywhere, girl. What do your parents think? They have
to be pretty proud.
Speaker 1 (02:09):
They're very excited, And the truth is they're they're just proud.
And I mean they were my believers before anybody, you know,
And so in a weird way, I don't really know
if they're like shocked or surprised, because they tell me
all the time they're like, we knew that you could
do it.
Speaker 2 (02:25):
Ah, that's good to hear. I love your post with
your supportive family, your mom and dad. That's awesome. Hang tight, honey.
We are playing that song and I have to tell you, ooh,
the beat, this is how I'm keeping in shape. Oh girl,
I will do squats to that song every time it
comes on. I'm popping out a quick twenty because the
beat is no such a jam.
Speaker 1 (02:43):
Yeah, maybe I need to do that when I'm singing
it every night.
Speaker 2 (02:47):
Oh girl, I don't know. You're like in the best shape.
Speaker 1 (02:50):
That's right, That's right. You got to keep it tight.
Speaker 2 (02:52):
That song is a jam. I love it. But you're
also writing some love songs now and you're inspired by
your boyfriend and hear, oh.
Speaker 1 (03:01):
My gosh, he's easy to write love songs about. I
tell you that I finally found somebody who can keep
up and he gives me a run for my own money,
and he's got his own thing going on, and just
he's my biggest cheerleader. So it's really easy for me
to write music. And actually the next single, the song
(03:22):
was written for him, It's got four by four by you.
You know, for a long time I felt like I
had not found the one that I could really like,
write love songs about and mean it. But like I
said earlier, he kind of makes it easy.
Speaker 2 (03:36):
Do we hear any wedding bills in your future?
Speaker 1 (03:38):
Hey? I hope. So I think that I have found
somebody who can put up with me.
Speaker 2 (03:42):
So that's awesome. I'm happy for you with everything happening,
what's next with you?
Speaker 1 (03:48):
With this record coming out and everything. What I've realized
is like opportunities just keep coming in and I'm open
to all of it. I really am. I'm excited to
see what's next, and I don't want to be scared
to step outside of my comfort zone and try things
I've ever done and while still staying true to myself.
Speaker 2 (04:07):
You have done that, and you have a lot of
great collaborations with other artists too. Any collaborations that we
can look forward to in the future.
Speaker 1 (04:14):
Oh my goodness. I'd love to do something with Stapleton
or Eric Church. I'd love to do something with Miley Cyrus,
Teddy Swims.
Speaker 2 (04:22):
I got The list is long, and at this point
they're coming to you, aren't they.
Speaker 1 (04:26):
Some of them are, but I think there's still some
I need to track down myself.
Speaker 2 (04:30):
I don't know, lady. It was such an honor talking
to you. You're so much fun and just so down
to earth. I cannot wait to keep cheering you on
and keep doing my squats in the studio because you're
gonna have more known minds coming my way.
Speaker 1 (04:42):
Thank you, sister.
Speaker 2 (04:43):
Have a good one, lady, and God bless you too.
