(00:00):
Heartfeat St. Louis a k Aholiday bringing you the faults of the city
as we continue our day on iHeartCommunities, the biggest and the largest celebration
and Saint Louis. It's coming upon May twenty first in downtown Saint Louis.

(00:22):
It is a hundred and thirteenth annualMay Day Parade. And I mean
we begin it, okay, yeah, you know, I tried to,
you know, try to add somethingthat you know, due to the age

(00:43):
and and you know, and thebreathing just didn't work out too well.
Anyway, we have the uh,we have my co host, uh Stacy
Goodman statement, Stacy, how youdoing? Fling good? Glad to be
here and I cannot wait for theparade, all right. And we also
have the CEO of the Animal Long, Children and Family Service Center. Uh,

(01:03):
Miss Keisha Lee, how you doing? I am fabulous? Okay,
now which fabulous are you? Oh? Fabulous? Today is the great day.
I woke up this morning. Jesus, They're kind of fabulous, all
right. Then we got miss Nicoleand uh from first student, Yes,
how are you doing? I'm good, I'm blessed, blessed, I'm blessed.

(01:25):
Are you very blessed. Okay, that's what I'm talking about the follow
up questions. You know, couplepeople be like, oh I'm good,
and well how good are you? Now? What good? What level?
Or good? Are? Right? Can they do be different ones? You
can be fabulous and you know anyway, uh, maybe a parade going out

(01:46):
May twenty first downtown Saint Louis FirstStudent. It's going to be doing what
they did last year. They're gonnabe picking people up for the parade and
then taking them back to a centrallocation as well. So the so you
want to talk about that? Soyou guys are back again this year.
So where is it such a locationto be picked up? So the pickup

(02:07):
location is going to be Union andNatural Bridge. It's Snook's parking lot,
and then the drop off location willbe Olive and twenty third are going to
be running every thirty minute, everythirty minute, yes, during the parade,
before the parade and doing the paradeevery thirty minutes. People will be
able to get a ride down andride back. Yeah. Now you are

(02:28):
the regional director of whatnot. Iam the regional recruiter for First Student,
recruiter for first time. So youlook for people to get a job.
That's right, Okay, Okay,so are y'all hiring? We are hiring
and all of the location so anywhereyou want to go, we are definitely
hiring. So you're hiring and peopleget paid. Right, it's paid training.

(02:52):
You're able to get your CDL throughthat paid training, and from there
is up and there from there.Okay, so you get paid for the
training, you get free cd cdl'slicense after you train, and then you
get a job and you get paidon the job. Yes, Oh,
well, you know I need aphone number something, girl, I need,

(03:15):
I need something. We go thewebsite. You could go to work
at first dot com and you couldchoose which location you want to work at
and apply. As soon as youapply, you should receive a call to
schedule in person interview with whatever locationmanager you apply for. Now, the
one thing that people have to understandyou have to be a kid friendly person,

(03:38):
correct, Because you guys deal witha lot of kids, yes,
a lot of little personalities, differentpersonalities, and a lot of kids love
their school bus drivers. So youhave to be able to interact with those
kids. Usually in most cases, they're the first person you see in the
morning and then they're the last personyou see dropping them off. But then
not only that, they're trusting youto get them too and from where they

(04:00):
need to go. Well, youknow what I noticed is is that I
used to work in the you know, the school system. I'm not gonna
say where I worked, but anyway, because y'all y'all gonna be like he
just worked all over the place. One of the things that I found is
that the bus driver that the kidshad a good relationship with was the bus
that we never had issues on.Yeah, that's correct, you know what

(04:25):
I mean. So you know whatI'm saying. So when people are going
out for these bus drivers job,it's best for you to build a great
relationship with the kids. Now they'regonna test you at first. Oh yeah,
they're definitely, they're gonna see howfar they can go. They're gonna
find out what that line is theydo when they find out that line,
yeah, they'll never cross that line, and that relationship begins, and you

(04:47):
know that type of thing. It'sdefinitely a level of respect. And not
only that, when the bus driversnot only get to know you, they
get to know the parents. Iknow, when my kids was in school.
The bus driver knew my name, she knew if I wasn't at that
stops, she wasn't gonna let mychild off. She will call you know.
So it's a level of respect withthe parents and the kids. And

(05:08):
then with the kids knowing that youknow their parents and that you have a
good relationship with their parents, they'regonna act right. Oh yeah, they
find some mac right some way, somehow. All right. So you guys
are gonna be doing that for theAnimalon made they parade. Yes, and
once again, thank you guys fordoing that for the parade and Miss Keisha
one h Maye parade registration yeah, hold on, registration is still going on.

(05:31):
We're happy to have first student backfor the second year in a row,
So no excuses, get them babiesdown to that parade. We got
a safe way to get you there. We're gonna post the schedule on our
website as well as on the AniMalon Parade page. And it's gonna be
nice. Second year in a row, second year in a row for the
transplortation for first student, We're happyto have them, we really are.

(05:55):
How much of an impact is itwith having first student and being able to
have people buster transported downtown to participatein the parade, because the parade used
to be in our community, rightand now it's downtown and we get a
lot of people saying, you know, they moved it from where we can
get to the parade, and nowthe bear not the bearer case. But
you have the roundabouts on Natural Bridgenow, so it's not safe for the
parade to go down Natural Bridge. So having first student step up and say

(06:19):
we'll get people to and from safelyto the parade means a lot. You
can get the babies down there, your cousins, everybody get on the bus
and eric condition is safe way totravel to get down there, enjoy the
day. So it means a lot. What can we expect from parade this
year? What's the kind of surprisesdo you have? I mean, what's
gonna be something new? We haven'tRegistration is jumping. Let me tell you.

(06:42):
Registration is jumping. It ends Aprilto thirty years so get your registration
in noway. But for the FamilyFund area we have SLDC is a sponsor
for the Family Fund area. We'rehaving carnival games for the kids who're gonna
be giving out stuff while We're goingdown the alone floats. Nikes back as
a platinum sponsor. We have aMidwest Bank Center as the vendor area sponsor.

(07:04):
We have William C. Harris backfor the pre show. This is
a new thing. So the preshow would be on the steps of the
actual Annie Malone main building right thereat twenty six twelfth Annie Malone driving the
real neighborhood. So we'll have apre show right there. But that's something
new, and I'm excited about thekiddos. I just love seeing the kids
and I love seeing us. Ireally do like we enjoy the day we

(07:27):
come out. We have a greattime. We have been McLamore as the
parade Marshow this year. Last yearwas BJ the DJ, and these are
big shoes to live up to rights. We sit there thinking like, okay,
he didn't play. He had hisown DJ going down the parade.
He out there talking to people withthe mic. We had so many good
pictures and it's that music, Likethat's why I wake up to the torque

(07:49):
music. You know it's going,but it's I love us and I love
the music. Were like, howcan we bring that same type of energy
and make sure we keep it goingfrom you to year. Is there anything
that someone can do to help theparade even if they are not a sponsor?
Can they volunteer any kind of Yes, Yes, we are looking for
parade volunteers. You can sign upactually online when you go and it says

(08:13):
regis for the parade. There's alink on there that says volunteer. We
really need volunteers because we usually wehave a large section with Mason's and this
year all the masons are coming becauseone of their head people is going to
be here, so they usually helpus do the marshaling for the parade,
so we'll be down a few marshals. We really are looking for volunteers for

(08:35):
the parade, and they can signup online to help us do that.
And what's the website for them tosign up www dot any malone dot com.
And we also have any Malone dotorg, whichever one you guys.

don't think you're at the wrong spot, you're the right one and you'll be
able to find the page and register. All right, Well, anyway,

mean go to the website. It'swww dot work at first dot com.
Work at first dot com, atfirst dot com. And we want to

(09:20):
thank you guys so much for yourcontribution of being a sponsor and getting people
to and from the parade. Wereally really appreciate First Student for stepping up
to the plate with that. Onceagain, Miss Keisha league out on the
second BJ what about I heeart becauseI heard supports Annie Malone to our end.

(09:41):
