(00:00):
Hi, It's Lucy Chapman, andthank you so much for joining me on
this podcast. Here's more, Andyou know when I talk about here's more,
it's not just what's on the show, but here's more about what I
am doing. You guys, Italk about going out and doing stuff all
the time, and I love seeingyou out there. You guys show up,
you spin the prize wheel, youjust say hello, and I definitely

(00:22):
want you to come out this weekendfor the Dormity Family McDonald's Trunk and Treat.
And I've got Dustin Darmody in hereright with me today and he can
tell you a lot more about itthan I can, and much do a
much better job. I'm sure Dustinwelcome, Thank you, thank you for
having me on. But we're reallyexcited here to have our second annual trunk

(00:43):
re treat Dormerty Family McDonald's Trunk orTreat out at our Elkcorn location on Twurter
Fifth and Main. I think mostpeople have heard the term trunk and treat.
They kind of have an idea ofwhat that's about. But if anybody
isn't, or if they just needa refresher, tell me a little bit
about trunk Retreat and tell me aboutyours. Ours is a little unique obviously,
you know, taking place to McDonald's, so we got all kinds of
goodies. So right now at McDonald'syou can go to any one of your

(01:06):
local McDonald's you can pick up aboo bucket. So we've got four options
available for boo buckets. I thinkwe've got what is a vampire Jackal Lanner,
Mummy, and Frankenstein and so thosehave been really popular for us.
So as McDonald's kind of brought backthat famous boo bucket, we've decided we
want to do a fun little eventaround it and have a good time.
So obviously trunk Retreat, there's canbe a lot of trunks out there,

(01:26):
plenty of candy for the kiddos, and you know, opportunity for a happy
meal or two. So excited tohave that fun time with the community.
Well, I'm gonna be out therefrom one to three, so I'm going
to have some fun too. I'mnot gonna be passing out candy. I'll
let you guys do that, Buttell me a little bit about some of
the stuff that they're going you're gonnahave out there. You've got the Marvels.
Yes, yes, so, yeah, we're excited. So we're obviously

(01:49):
we're gonna have the ability to havesome special guests there for the kiddos,
So obviously the goal would be forthe kiddos to dress up in their costumes.
We'll have some fun friends there thatthey can take some pictures with and
kind of tying it into the newMarvel's movie that's coming up with Disney.
Here. When you guys decided todo this, the Dorminy's decided to do
this trunk or treat, It wasa way for you to give back to

(02:12):
the community, and McDonald's kind ofhas a history of doing just that.
I know this is an event we'regoing to do on Sunday, But since
I got you here, i'd loveto know what got you interested in McDonald's.
Yeah. So, actually a funlittle story that folks get to hear
about from time to time. Soboth my wife and myself are the owners
of the locations here in Omaha,Nebraska. We have eighteen locations. We

(02:35):
spanned from Council Bluffs to Gretna, and we actually are both second generation owners
and so fun little cute little story. We call it Love under the arches
and ketchup in the blood. Mywife and I actually met at Hamburger University,
which is a real place where allgeneral managers go to learn and become
managers, and that's where we meteach other. And so we just love

(02:59):
do this kind of thing because weyou know, the team is our mcfamily
and we've just grown up with thesefolks. I mean, we've got a
gal that works for us, beenwith us for thirty three years. Mike,
kiddos call her Grandma. So wejust love the team and we love
giving back to the community because thisis what we do all day every day.
You are, I'm sure experiencing someof the issues that came along with

(03:23):
COVID and McDonald seems to be weatheringit. Well, what do you see
for the future of McDonald's at leasthere in Omaha that you can talk about
is yeah, I'm sure you havesecrets. You can't talk about it at
this point, but yeah, soI can't give away the secret recipe sauce
unfortunately, so but no, Sothe real big thing right now and it's

(03:44):
a wonderful new way for customers toreally enjoy McDonald's and to order and experience
us in a different way is wehave a global mobile app, the McDonald's
App. If you haven't downloaded it, you really should every single day,
significant discounts deals, there's loyalty rewards, and there's really two new ways that
you can kind of visit a McDonald's. Everybody knows front counter, they know

(04:05):
drive through, but now this apphas given a lot more opportunity. And
really what you can do is youcan place your order in advance, and
with wonderful technology with geo fencing,we know when you're three minutes away from
the restaurant. You don't have togo into the drive three lane. You
can pull up in a reserve spotand we'll walk it right out to you.
So if you pull up and yousee that drive three lins too busy,
like, heck with that, I'mnot doing that today, you can

(04:27):
pull into that reserve stall and we'llbring your food right out to you.
Don't have to get out of thecar. It's great for moms with kiddos
in the backseat. We use itall the time. We've got four under
seven, so we're using that asan option for us all the time.
You have four under seven, Yeah, well, God bless you. Because
I don't know how you made itin here today or how you made it
anywhere. Then all right, wellthat is amazing. I like that technology.

(04:51):
So the Darmody family McDonald's event, the Trunk or Treat with the Marvels
going on this Sunday one to threeat the McDonald donald's in Elcorn. Just
look for the arches. Just lookfor the arches. It's going to be
a lot of fun. Bring thekids out. So yeah, come on
out two hundred and fifth and MainMcDonald's Elkhorn, just a couple of blocks
north of Dodge. Again, youcan't miss it. Just look for the

(05:13):
big golden arches. We're going tohave Captain Marvel and Spider Man there so
the kiddos can have some pictures, have a good time, get a couple
of treats. Free event for thetrunk or treat, Yes, and to
meet the all of the Marvels. This is going to be a lot of
fun and you can always find outmore information about this at our website kgour
dot com. And do you havea website that they can go to?

(05:33):
Yeah, they could go to ourDormity family mac donald's facebook page. Everything's
posted their time dates, and allthat kind of stuff. Excellent, Dustin,
thanks so much for being my guesttoday for Here is More. And
I think we certainly got more informationabout some of the stuff that we do
around here. And going out tothe remotes is something that people like to
know what's behind the scenes. Areyou going to be there, Yes,
we'll be there. So we'll probablybe there in costume with the kiddos.

(05:56):
We'll be there with all four kiddos. Oh, we might not be able
to recognize you. Yes, sowe're doing the Mario themes. So if
you see a guy dressed as Bowser, oh no, it's me. Okay.
Well, if you're listening to thispodcast and you're going to the event,
make sure you stop and say hello. I'm Lucy Chapman on Omaha's Greatest
Hits ninety nine point nine kg Rwith Here's More.
