Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to the Creative Construction Wisconsin Home I Provement Show
on Fox Sports ninet twenty and your iHeart Radio app
coming live from the Donovan of Jorganson Heating and Cooling Studios.
I might be given alongside my co host, he's the
owner of Creative Construction with scottson Bingo. Emmins, what's going
on in Bingo?

Speaker 2 (00:18):
I'm doing great, doing great, And just so you're talking
about Donovan and Jorgason, right, yep. People don't realize that
its air conditioning season sooner than anythink, right, and uh,
you know I could be Monday. Yeah, I know, this
is awesome. This is awesome. And then what people don't
do is they always think that they need to change
the air filters for the furnace. They didn't realize that
they need to change it for the air conditioners as well.

(00:41):
And you should get And then there's always there's an
old old lives old legend. Back in the old days,
you couldn't change the air condition of the sixty five degrees,
you couldn't have them work. Quicks are maintained right now?
What those heat you know, heating plankets that donavand Jorgenson
have and anything deep do it down like they can
check it at thirty degrees so you don't have to
wait too it's emergency. You could have that checked out
ahead of time. Have a clean, filtered maintenance. And do

(01:02):
they have a program yet.

Speaker 1 (01:03):
They do their maintenance program. It's one hundred and ninety
nine bucks. And I signed my my.

Speaker 2 (01:09):
House unless you one of Mike's kids.

Speaker 1 (01:11):
Yeah, and I did it. I signed it up for
my daughter, who then told my son and he goes,
what about us? So the whole mcgiffern clan is on
the maintenance program. Donovan Jordans and hid He Cooling celebrating
forty years in business. Now that's not a lot for you,
your creative construction Wisconsin. But you know what, that's a

(01:32):
long time for a couple.

Speaker 2 (01:33):
I was with il. He's fifth generation, right, I guess
he's got one hundred and twenty one years.

Speaker 1 (01:37):
I'm like, man, unbelievable.

Speaker 2 (01:39):
I mean he was here before the trees were built.

Speaker 1 (01:42):
Yeah, yeah, he was that company cutting it down. I'm
sure her. I'm excited at our special guest. She keeps
telling me she's so nervous, but she's not that nervous.
She's been she's a veteran of this thing, has done
it before. However, big change has happened in her life.
Angela Design Goal Lighting something different.

Speaker 2 (02:03):
He's still a lighting lady though.

Speaker 1 (02:04):
She's still the lighting lady, but now started her own company.

Speaker 3 (02:08):
Oh well, thank you so much for having me here today.
I'm very exciting to share my new company information. I
did start my own company, Design Goal Lighting, and it's
home of the outdoor lighting options.

Speaker 1 (02:23):
Okay.

Speaker 3 (02:23):
And what makes me different and sets me apart is
I really want to be a lighting resource wherever you
are in your lighting journey. So perhaps I could help
with just design, or I can take you through all
the way to full installation with a maintenance option.

Speaker 4 (02:42):
As you talked about before, was.

Speaker 1 (02:44):
Still mostly outdoor space.

Speaker 4 (02:46):
Correct, one thousand percent.

Speaker 1 (02:47):
Okay. I was at a basketball game last night sitting
next to Tom mowbray and asked me who's going to
be on the show today? And I told him and
he said literally tomorrow, which is today now. He said,
my wife and I are we're starting to plan what
we're going to do in this outdoor space and we
don't have any idea. And I said, listen, because Angela

(03:10):
will help you she will help you. They they bought
this place, I think in Richfield, and he said, look,
we love we love the space. We've got more outdoor
in the back then than we've had before, and we're
starting to kind of plan that. And so if somebody
like Tom, who is starting this from scratch, and they

(03:31):
it's just dark back there and they have a deck,
but they don't have any lighting at all, this perfect
opportunity for them to have you come in and start
to talk them through some of their options.

Speaker 3 (03:42):
Exactly, if I was meeting with Tom, he might say,
would you like to walk around outside? And I would
say absolutely, but let's start inside. Let's see what you
see when you look out your windows and into that
back area.

Speaker 2 (03:57):
Point people think about, yeah, what it looks like when
you drive by in this are you looking out every day?

Speaker 1 (04:01):
Correct?

Speaker 4 (04:02):
One thousand percent.

Speaker 3 (04:04):
And then as we put together a plan, we talk
about where do you spend this when you where do
you spend your time when you're outside, and what does
that space look like. And there is a real opportunity
not only to light up, as you said, the architecture
in the home as you approach, but also uplight and

(04:25):
down light the tree so when you're inside looking out
at that beautiful outdoor living space all year round, you
can enjoy it with the outdoor law.

Speaker 2 (04:35):
Well, you could get like a little searchlighte for that
bullfrog that goes.

Speaker 1 (04:38):
Hold on no time out. Do you think you're rambling?
Is that where you just went with the facial reactions
that you looked at Patty And we're going to get
to Patty here in a minute. No, No, that was
really good. And I'll tell you why. Because people, I
think when they look out at their outdoor living space,
if they haven't if they haven't had the experience of

(05:00):
either being at a friend's home, that really took advantage
of it. Especially here in Wisconsin. Right, you get to
utilize that outdoor living space in your mind like twelve
months out of the year. Right, you can't enjoy if
the lighting is correct in the wintertime, whether you're out
there cooking out or not. You want to be able

(05:20):
to come home, put those on and enjoy it yourself
rather than just do it for the neighbors.

Speaker 3 (05:27):
Exactly. And you know what, they go on automatically dusk
until dawn. You don't need to turn them on. And
I think you're exactly right in the wintertime. It kind
of keeps away the wintertime blues because instead of looking
out at total darkness every night at you know, perhaps
four thirty, as easily as early as four thirty, you
are looking out at the beautiful nature, perhaps that patio

(05:47):
area with a splash of color from a beautiful plant.

Speaker 1 (05:52):
Can you you cannot, you cannot just drive through a
neighborhood without looking at some of this stuff. Can you
like the passion you have for it is? I'm telling Angela,
when you talk about this stuff, you kind of light
up and this is your world. And I love that.
But I would assume that at eight o'clock at night,

(06:13):
to drive through a neighborhood with you would be no, no,
pull up, a little bit, stop, back up, let me
look out? And it is it all about when you're
trying to get into the head of the homeowner as
to what they're their thought process was.

Speaker 4 (06:28):
You know what? It is?

Speaker 3 (06:29):
One of my favorite things to do is to drive
through a neighborhood at night and review the outdoor lighting.
I think when the outdoor lighting is done properly, it
creates safety, security as well as beauty and makes it
so much fun to come home each night.

Speaker 1 (06:46):
You know, the security question, I would assume that that
that's part of this, right. You want to make sure
that it looks great and it's functional. It's what you
want as a family to be able to look out
and enjoy it. But also the security side is something
that we have to have in the back of our
mind as we're doing this. When I was over on

(07:07):
eighty eighth Street, we ended up like we had this
beautiful backyard and we had some lighting back there and
it was great, but we didn't have lighting by our garage,
and my wife's car kept getting broken into. So we
had to put a sensor light that I thought actually
took away from the ambiance, but it was function We
needed it, and it's kind of stopped her car from

(07:29):
getting broken into. But the way Current Electric had the light,
and he was very smart where he said, look, we're
going to have the light more towards the car and
the alley than towards the backyard, but you're going to
get some of that And it did take a little
bit away, but it certainly made us feel a little
bit safer and it kept her car from getting broken

(07:50):
into about you know once every month, Yes, well.

Speaker 3 (07:54):
One thing outdoor lighting can do is eliminate those dark spots.

Speaker 4 (07:58):
And so when you think of.

Speaker 3 (07:59):
A beautiful illuminated property, it's the architecture of the home,
it's the trees. And what's happening is you are presenting
very softly, a safe place to drive home to each night,
versus perhaps the house that's across the street that doesn't
have any lighting or just the house lights on and

(08:22):
there there is a great opportunity to move around that
property without ever being seen. So and then the other
thing outdoor lighting can do is increase safety on the
property when it comes to walkways, steps taking you down
to the lake, making that safe zone there are no
trips and falls on your property while adding beauty.

Speaker 1 (08:44):
Yeah, one hundred percent. If we can move the microphone over,
Patty Barris, B green Pro, Patty, how are you.

Speaker 5 (08:50):
I'm great, Thanks, I'm so glad to be here.

Speaker 1 (08:52):
It's so nice to meet you. Talk a little bit
about be green Pro and if you want more information
on past d company, it's bgreen dot pro is their website.
Talk a little bit about what you guys do.

Speaker 5 (09:05):
So b green Pro was born about fifteen years ago
when I wanted to give people a choice for traditional
lawn care or more natural lawn care. So that is
what we've been doing ever since. We serve all of
southeastern Wisconsin, and we do lawn care, we do treecare,
we do insect management, deer management. We even do some snow.

(09:29):
We make our own products for snow. We make our
own fertilizers. So everything that is people, pet, pollinator, plant
and property friendly.

Speaker 1 (09:39):
No no, say that one again. Go ahead, good luck
with that people.

Speaker 5 (09:43):
Pet, property, plant, and pollinators.

Speaker 1 (09:45):
Well done, miss Patty, well done. So this company started
in twenty eleven and reading the bio a little bit
about you on your website. After seeing question lawn and
property care practices taking place during cold season months, we
decided that consumers deserved have a greater awareness about sustainable

(10:05):
care for launch, trees, insects, pets, and snow services that
are available. So it was you were walking through your
neighborhood and thought, man, something's missing.

Speaker 5 (10:16):
So I've always been an environmental advocate, and my husband
has always been in lawn long I guess long care.
He's a manufacturer now, but he he has taught me
a lot about the industry over the years. And I
have some other family and friends that are in the industry,
so I know just enough to be dangerous, and I
know a lot about environmental friendliness and sustainability. And so

(10:41):
I was walking through the neighborhood with my kids back
in twenty eleven, and my oldest son was sixteen went
to Arrowhead High School, and my other kids were, you know,
younger than that. I actually had three boys in three years,
so that was a fun household. But we saw a
lawn care company in the middle of February actually starting

(11:01):
lawn care services. And I knew enough about lawn care
that there was no good reason on earth for somebody
to be doing lawn care when the ground was frozen.
And it really is not about doing anything for the
consumer or the planet. It's really about bringing in revenue
at that time of the year for a company that
might need to be generating some revenue. So I actually

(11:24):
said to my son, if we had a lawn care company,
we would do things so much differently. And at that moment,
I looked at my four kids and they were all
staring at me, like, well, Mom, why don't we And
so I felt really convicted that either I do something
about a problem that I know I have knowledge and
experience to help or I spout off my mouth and

(11:45):
add to the problem. So we did. We started a company.
My son Robbie and I actually used our email addresses
to send out a letter. We got twenty five customers
and now we serve almost two thousand people across southeastern Wisconsin.

Speaker 1 (11:59):
Unbelievable. Great. You know what. I love the fact when
you talk to Angela and she said, look, I started
my own company, and there are some reasons behind that, right,
I know that your husband husband had some mouth his views,
and she thought, well, this is the time and the
fact that she said, okay, I'm going to here's the

(12:19):
space that I'm going to be able to help people.
And then you said the same thing, Right, somebody needs
to do this and I have the knowledge to do it,
So let me start a company that's going to be
able to help people and educate people as to why
this makes a lot of sense. When we had we
had a couple of dogs when we lived on eighty
Ah Street over the years, and we would get we

(12:42):
were in the Cops Park neighborhood newsletter and they people
would send out and I never even thought about this,
what type of salt to put down on icy sidewalks.
That's pet friendly, And I thought for me, I thought
I never thought about that. But that part of it

(13:03):
is part of what you talk about as well. Correct.

Speaker 5 (13:05):
It is because ice melt or salt is one of
the things in the industry that is unregulated by the government,
and so they can put anything. Companies can put anything
they want on those packages, and consumers don't really know
what's inside of those inside of those containers. So we
actually manufacture our own ice melt. It's salt free, chloride free,

(13:26):
and also salt is really it's really damaging to the
lake ecosystem. So our product is safe for lakes, it's
safe for pets, and it works down to below twenty
five degrees.

Speaker 1 (13:39):
Is the product you use? Is it bought at can
you go to a big box store buy it? Or
is there? Do you manufacture the product?

Speaker 5 (13:50):
So we do, we make our Oh wow, it's for you.
Thank you?

Speaker 1 (13:54):
Yeah you bet. Let's move Angela what a you know?
And in the second segment, we're going to talk about
an outdoor living collective that you guys are working together on.
But I don't know how you guys met, but what
a perfect kind of like Batman and Robin team. You
guys are thank you for bringing Patty in. How did
you guys meet?

Speaker 3 (14:16):
Well, we have run across each other in numerous networking events,
but recently there is Women Making an Impact, which is
a wonderful networking group that meets weekly in downtown Delafield
and it's women business owners getting together, sharing information and
empowering each other. And Patty and I reconnected and we

(14:40):
are teaming up to share our services and put together
a group of businesses that focus on outdoor living.

Speaker 2 (14:48):
Man, I have a question, what is your range listening? Once? No,
where do you go all to? The station goes up
pretty far?

Speaker 3 (14:56):
Oh, excellent question. Eastern Wisconsin is my territory. I do
have a cottage up north, and so I do travel north.
I guess where I'm spending most of my time right
now is in Lake Country.

Speaker 4 (15:13):
Okay, but happy to travel.

Speaker 1 (15:16):
Where up north is your cabin?

Speaker 4 (15:18):
It's in Shawno, beautiful Shona, Wisconsin.

Speaker 1 (15:20):
We used to go to Bury Lake up and there's
a day. Yeah, there's a casino up there too, And yeah,
I tried my brother John. We were doing a show
around the corner up in that area. And you went
to the casino. I thought, well, you know my other
older brothers, they'd be at like a minor league baseball
game and I would join them. So I went over

(15:42):
to hang out with him in the casino. I put
my hand on his shoulder and touched his slot machine
and he said, don't talk to me, don't touch me,
and don't touch my machine, and so I turned it.
I go, I thought, we're going to fellowship a little bit,
hang out together. He goes, we could do that tomorrow,
and I just walked away. So the shauna area is beautiful. Yeah,

(16:02):
how is your outdoor lighting in the shauna area. I've
got somebody out there I can introduce you to if
you need some help.

Speaker 4 (16:08):
Well, you know, I can't turn it off.

Speaker 3 (16:10):
So it is beautiful up there as well. And we
are on the lake, so we have peer lighting, which
is something wonderful when again, when you're inside looking out
or just spending time on the deck to look out
on the lake and to see that very soft, delicate
lighting on the pier is absolutely beautiful. And not to mention,

(16:33):
when you're on the lake coming back home, you know
which house is yours?

Speaker 1 (16:38):
Yeah, it's perfect for that. Yeah, my sister's got one
up and got a cabin up and walk pack on
the chain of lakes. And that is you want to
be able to know which one is yours if you're
coming back from dinner on the boat and it's getting.

Speaker 2 (16:52):
Has it happened to you as you walk into the
wrong holls?

Speaker 1 (16:54):
No, I didn't, I didn't know. I just follow her.
She knows where she's going. Hey. When somebody ask you, Angela,
the purpose of outdoor lighting, and you had kind of
talked about it, the ambiance and the safety side of it,
is this category has really exploded, especially I think in
the state of Wisconsin, because people feel like you can
only use outdoor for about six months sometimes, but when

(17:18):
you utilize the lighting part of it, I think you
can at least enjoy it even if you're not out there.
But the purpose of outdoor lighting, I think individual households
have different reasons for the purpose of outdoor lighting.

Speaker 4 (17:33):
Correct, agreed.

Speaker 3 (17:38):
What I'm trying to do right now with outdoor lighting
is have that feeling when you're inside going out that
it is one space, like almost when you're in the
house going from the kitchen to the dining room, not
like it's two different environments and lighting can be a
big part of that if you have that consistent feel

(18:00):
as you go from space to space. So when working
with a homeowner, how what lighting needs do you have?
Is it when you're coming home? Is it in the backyard?

Speaker 4 (18:14):
Is it safety? Is it security?

Speaker 3 (18:16):
How can I add lighting to make that space take
you from to compliment on what you already have?

Speaker 1 (18:23):
Yeah, one hundred, miss Patty.

Speaker 5 (18:26):
So I wanted to add to that. So in my business,
I see a lot of customers that have a special
part of their yard. They really want to highlight a
special tree. I'm really fond of trees. I think trees
are like old friends. But people have trees that have
been there in their yard for a hundred years, or
maybe a flowering tree or a centerpiece landscape, and they
really want to highlight that. And Angela can definitely come

(18:48):
in after you know, I'm caring for that beautiful space,
and then she can highlight it so that the homeowners
can really enjoy it. And also like pools and spaces
where people these outdoor barbecue areas are becoming much more
popular and just highlighting those really special areas of a yard.
So I'm seeing spaces more and more people want to beautify,

(19:10):
and so we do that at Bgreen Pro and then
Angela can come in and we compliment each other that
way by she can she can really highlight those areas
with her lighting.

Speaker 3 (19:20):
One example of that is I'm working with a homeowner
right now who has a large backyard and their kids
play soccer back there and they would like to enjoy
watching them, and they don't want them to play in
the dark, and so we're doing some beautiful downlighting from
trees that replicate moonlight that will make the green or
the grass just pop at night, but also allow the

(19:42):
kids to play well after it gets dark and they
can enjoy watching them from the house as well.

Speaker 1 (19:47):
Our special guest in studio. We're going to get to
a break and we'll continue on the other side. Angela
Lingo from Design Goal Lighting Go to look at her website.
It's beautiful Design goal Lighting dot com, design Go Lighting
dot com, and Patti Barris from B Greenpro in studio
alongside Bingo, Emmons and I and will continue our conversation

(20:08):
about the outdoor living space on the other side of
the break. This is the Creative Construction Wisconsin Home Improvement
Show on Fox Sports nine twenty in your iHeart Radio App.
Welcome back to the Creative Construction of Wisconsin home improvement
show on Fox Sports nine twenty. In your iHeart Radio App.
I'm Mike mcgiver alongside Bingo Emmins. He's the owner of

(20:29):
Creative Construction Wisconsin. Coming live from the Donovan and Jorgans
and Hiding and Cooling Studios. Our special guests in studio
Angela Lingle. She is the owner of Design Goal Lighting.
Go to Design go lighting dot com to see more
information on her company, and Patti Barris from b Greenpro.
Bgreen dot pro is their their website. If we can, Angela,

(20:53):
let's start this segment Outdoor Living Collective And when you
guys decided, look, we're gonna come together and work on
this together. Talk a little bit about what you feel like.
The mission statement of Outdoor Living Collective is going.

Speaker 2 (21:09):
To be sure.

Speaker 3 (21:10):
The Outdoor Living Collective is a group of businesses that
exist to help share information about our services with our customers.
We want to help our customers as we meet with them,
create the most wonderful outdoor living space as possible. I
know when I meet with somebody, I'm usually spending about

(21:33):
ninety minutes with them at that initial meeting learning about
their outdoor lighting needs. And then as I do that,
I'm also finding out what's important to them as we
walk around the property. So I would like to take
then that opportunity to share information about my partners in
this collective that can help them enjoy their outdoor living space.

Speaker 1 (21:58):
What other type at least orries, what other type of
partners do you hope to join and and get involved with, you.

Speaker 4 (22:04):
Guys, excellent question. We have.

Speaker 3 (22:09):
Four D exterior scapes and they do premium water features. Yes,
we have easy window cleaning to help you see you
know your outdoor living space.

Speaker 1 (22:21):
If you if you can spend the money on the outdoor,
you might want to be able to see it right,
exactly right.

Speaker 2 (22:27):
He's been on a station, Yeah, York, Yes, yew York.

Speaker 1 (22:32):
He was really good. He kind of lit up when
you talked about what what The question for him that
he lit up was what what what sets you apart?
Because some of the things that they do with that
company sets them apart for sure.

Speaker 4 (22:47):
One thousand percent.

Speaker 1 (22:49):
Absolutely, any any other categories. I what about furniture and
stuff like that?

Speaker 3 (22:55):
Absolutely by the yard furniture they have a location an economy.

Speaker 4 (23:00):
Walk is part of that talk.

Speaker 1 (23:04):
Yeah, good point there.

Speaker 3 (23:08):
Bayview Shade and Blind, I think they've been a guest
as well, but they have beautiful shades that can come
down on a gazebo that create a beautiful atmosphere at night.
B Green Pro is a huge part of the collection. So,
you know, just talking to the homeowner finding out what
they need to make that outdoor living space as enjoyable

(23:32):
as possible, and then being a resource for them and
just sharing information about trusted partners. And the idea is
if we're all doing that together, we can help create
these beautiful spaces with trusted resources.

Speaker 1 (23:48):
You know with Bayview Shade and Blind and I decent
business with those guys, and it's a family run company.
It's a great company. A friend of mine had them
come out. He's got this big zebo out in Sussex
and he was able to have the shades and on
three sides and each one just by a pushbuton it
can come down halfway the whole way, the whole out

(24:11):
his whole outdoor living space completely changes and depends where
the sun is at that point, which shady's going to
have come down or at night, if he wants to
have some privacy, he can put all four down. He's
got a big screen TV out there, he's got a grill,
he's got the fireplace, and to go watch he loves

(24:32):
Nebraska football, in Nebraska basketball. Now if the badges are playing,
I'm not going to his house because there's no fighting.
We're not arguing here. But that's that space for him
is like an oasis.

Speaker 4 (24:44):
You know it is.

Speaker 3 (24:45):
And I think what you're talking about too, when you
have all those things coming together is home automation and
outdoor lighting, shading that can all be brought together with
one wonderful app on your phone. And that's another member
of our group as well, IQ Automation, which does smart
home technology that brings all those services together into one

(25:10):
app on your phone.

Speaker 1 (25:11):
Hey, Patty, if I can go to you again, Patty
Barriss with green a pro Bgreen dot pro is the website.
What I like about this idea of having all these
companies come together with Outdoor Living Collective is if you're
talking to a client or a potential client and then
they ask you, hey, listen, here's what we want done.

(25:32):
But do you know anybody in this space or do
you know anybody, Do you work with anybody with the
lighting part? You're able to then say, yeah, let me
tell you about this group that we work with. And
I think everybody then can help each other because as
a consumer, it started for me when I needed Bengo
to come and fix the ceiling in my kitchen and

(25:55):
I said to him, we want to take out this
light in the kitchen. Put can lighting and he said,
call Current Electric. And these guys are great. And so
it's asking people in your space to help with other
things that maybe you're not, like the lighting part is
not your expertise, but you know somebody exactly.

Speaker 5 (26:16):
I really believe that when you refer somebody, it's a
direct reflection of your company because you're you're trusting somebody
enough to give them to your precious client. And so
I really think that when we can build this team
of trusted referral partners, we not only serve each other
by being able to support each other's businesses. I'm a

(26:38):
big advocate of small business, but we're also really serving
our client better and being able to give them what
they need, and they're trusting us more for that as well.

Speaker 2 (26:47):
When you get a referral from you know, especially like me,
because I don't want to refer somebody and then they
don't do a good job because it makes you look bad.
So if you get a referral from it, you trust
them and your person is referring to trust them, because
you know I had after all the years of doing business,
you don't ever prefer our person that they're one one.
We'll call you up and say, why do you send
me that guy?

Speaker 1 (27:07):
Right?

Speaker 2 (27:07):
You don't want that?

Speaker 1 (27:08):
Well, I can tell you that Current Electric now is
a big client at the mcgiffern agency. We do a
lot with them, and it started that day. We had
Current Electric come out and my wife and I had
a budget in mind, and they came out at eight
am and walked us through what it was going to
look like. And my wife doesn't like any negotiation part.

(27:28):
So Terry went upstairs to your office and I said, okay,
let's talk price. And it was right where we needed
to be and I said, so when can we get
this done? He said, how about buy eleven? I go
buy eleven. He goes eleven o'clock today. I'm ready to go.
I've got everything I need in the car and so
I was like, it's great. Well, at quarter to eleven,

(27:49):
my wife called me at the office and she said,
I love these guys. Let me tell you, Michael what
they did. They're done. It costs us less than they thought,
and here's why. And then they did this no charge.
There's no charge. On my way home, I stopped at
the current Electric office and I said I need to
see the owner, and she goes, can I ask why?
I said, yeah, I'm really mad at him, and she
goes why. I said, my wife likes him more than

(28:11):
she likes me. I gotta get flowers. And Chuck Smith
walked out laughing. He said, hey, man, talk to me
about what's going on. And we and him and I
have been friends and they've started advertising with me. This
is a long time ago. And it was simply because
of that Bingo introduced me to them. They came out
and said, look, we're going to take great care of you.

(28:33):
And it was because Bingo said, listen, this is my client.
I'm going to introduce you to him, but you better
take care of him. And so I really like this
whole idea of putting this group together with the kind
of the same mission statement. When you talk to Angela.
The first thing she said was, look, we want to
help people that servant leadership. Hart and Patty, I think

(28:55):
this is a really good.

Speaker 5 (28:56):
Idea, absolutely, And I think you hit on something too,
is that I know one of the number one ways
that I get business is by referrals, and I love
to refer companies that I know will serve my clients
well too. And just listening to you your good experience,
when you have quality, when you have service, you're sharing
that company with so many people and and that's that's

(29:20):
really what we want, is we want that quality, we
want that service. We want we want to be able
to share things that are going to make people's lives
easier so that they become our fans and they want
to share our services too.

Speaker 1 (29:32):
Hey, Angela, when you when you talk about all the
different areas of the home and the outdoor living space,
is it is the backyard part the the biggest part
of your business? Or is it the front yard? Is
it decks and patio? Is it pool spas? You know,
the pond lighting? What area is the most what area

(29:56):
do you spend the most time with?

Speaker 3 (29:59):
I think when meeting with somebody and first putting together
a design, it is usually the front of the house
and coming home. I think that is what they have
seen the most as they have seen examples of outdoor lighting,
is they have driven past other homes. So we do
usually start with the front of the home and what
does that look like? And then we start to take

(30:22):
a walk around and we start to talk about the
possibilities and different lighting effects and the possibilities for the backyard.

Speaker 4 (30:31):
And you see their eyes get kind.

Speaker 3 (30:33):
Of large because we're talking about things that they hadn't
considered before or knew that were possible for their property.
And so I think it starts in the front, but
a lot of the most appreciated lighting that I will
install is in the backyard.

Speaker 4 (30:52):
And one thing that.

Speaker 3 (30:53):
I do have that allows me to share my vision
is I have a wonderful demo can't so if they're
looking at doing the front of the home, they like
the idea of the back but can't quite envision it,
I have a wonderful demo kit that can show them
exactly what the outdoor lighting will look like before they

(31:16):
make any final decisions.

Speaker 1 (31:17):
Hey does outdoor lighting And I'm sure you get asked
this a lot increase your your energy bills by a lot,
by a little, and and does everybody have the the
timer where it's going to go from dust from dust
to dust till dawn.

Speaker 4 (31:35):
The most popular setting is dust till dawn.

Speaker 3 (31:38):
Okay, but you have and that's done with an astronomical timer.

Speaker 4 (31:42):
But you also have.

Speaker 1 (31:43):
The option three. I have three of them. I can't
spell it, no car Thanks for bringing that up then, well,
because I had this whole confused look on my base.

Speaker 2 (31:58):
That's a big word, so they'll say it looks like
when you got the water doctors on, you know, microcoprial whatever.
They say, stuff like, what do you mean what you're
talking about?

Speaker 1 (32:05):
Dumb it down, baby, dumb it down? Sorry, Angela, go ahead.

Speaker 4 (32:09):
That's awesome.

Speaker 3 (32:10):
It tells the lights when to go on and off,
and the most popular setting is dust till dawn, but
it can also go dust till midnight, dust till one am.
The important thing to remember is you never have to
adjust the settings. It knows when to turn itself on
and when to turn itself off.

Speaker 1 (32:27):
LED lights everything.

Speaker 3 (32:29):
Is LED energy efficient. You mentioned the cost of running it.
The average cost of running twelve fixtures monthly is a
dollar twenty, so it's very energy efficient and cost effective.

Speaker 1 (32:44):
Yeah, you know. According and this is this is research
on my side. According to Energy dot Gov, LED lights
use as much as ninety percent less energy than regular
light bulbs. So good good, And you only utilize LED.

Speaker 4 (33:00):
We do.

Speaker 3 (33:00):
We only use LED and they range in watts from
like two to nine watts.

Speaker 1 (33:05):
So miss Patty, that kind of fits right in with
your your your deal, right, You're you're happy she uses
LED lights.

Speaker 5 (33:13):
Yeah. Everything we do at Bgreen Pro is sustainable. In fact,
we took a measurement of how how much chemical content
we were able to save over the last fifteen years
and it's actually millions of gallons of chemicals that we've
we've prevented from going into the environment. And our lawns
are beautiful and green. So it is really important to

(33:34):
us to have those sustainable methods of supporting our clients.

Speaker 1 (33:38):
Hey, we didn't ask about your territory. You Brookfield, della Field, Pwauk,
you Cononmwalk, Merton, Watertown Walk, Sussex, along with many more, Right,
but that Lake Country is kind of that's where your
base is.

Speaker 5 (33:52):
Lake Country is our base. I would say seventy percent
of our business is in you know, this Waukesha County
area around Lake Country, but we do go all the
way to Lake Geneva. We have some beautiful, wonderful customers
in Lake Geneva, and we go all the way to Germantown.
So all of southeastern Wisconsin is in our footprint and
we love serving all of those clients and moving to

(34:14):
Madison soon. So we'll be going really Madison.

Speaker 1 (34:18):
Just because there's clients there, or you just want.

Speaker 5 (34:21):
To expanding our territory, and we're not that far from
Madison now, so we really feel we could serve that
client base as well, and we think that those clients
would love some of our sustainable services as well.

Speaker 1 (34:33):
If somebody goes to your website and sides to either
hit the contact page or call in, do you send,
do you have a sales team that comes out, or
do you come out, or tell me a little bit
about the process if they want to get involved with
B Green and what that looks like.

Speaker 5 (34:50):
So we can give you an estimate over the phone
in about ten to fifteen minutes. We have some amazing
technology where we can map out your property lines and
we take out all the areas that we wouldn't be
treating is.

Speaker 2 (35:05):
That one of the lads with a drone to go
on people's It's similar, it really is.

Speaker 5 (35:10):
We don't have the drone, but it is one of
those services. It's it's it's pretty amazing. I sometimes I
can't believe what technology can all do. But we can
get a very accurate almost picture of your of your home,
the size of your yard, where your gardens are, what
kind of what, what space is, where your trees are.
We can see your barns, your your pools, your garages,

(35:32):
all of that. So we can get a really good
picture of what you have on your yard, and we
can give you an estimate. It's a free estimate within
within ten to fifteen minutes.

Speaker 1 (35:41):
Patty, you would have loved this. When we're over on
eighty eighth Street, there was a guy who's best man
in my wedding now is best man in his wedding.
Brian Kleismid is a landscape architect in the city planner,
and he came over for lunch and we lived on
the corner of eighty eighth and Townshend and we had
a patch of about out maybe six yards by whatever.

(36:03):
It just wasn't a big patch, but I couldn't grow
get grass there no matter what I tried. And I
asked him and he said, can I have it? And
I said, can you have what? He said, Look, my
whole backyard is like all my landscape has done. Can
I do whatever I want here? And my wife, who
also knows Brian really well, we all went to high
school together group corners, She goes, yeah, let's do that.

(36:26):
I'm telling you people at when he was finally done,
people would walk by, go out of their way and say,
this is like the botanical gardens of eighty eighth Street.
And what I didn't realize, and you guys will understand
this more than most. For me to get off work,
come home, get out of the backyard and water and
weed and it did great.

Speaker 5 (36:47):
Things for my soul, Oh my goodness.

Speaker 1 (36:49):
And people walking by going out of their way. He
also had a thing that he does called greenwall, and
it's for like condominiums and office complexes where they can
have vines growing right. Yes, up, Well, he wanted to
go vertical and see with that, So we put two
of those in and we would have lights on them,

(37:11):
or we would have like yellow tomatoes growing.

Speaker 5 (37:14):
Oh my goodness.

Speaker 1 (37:15):
Yeah, I went past the house and they cut them
down and I was like, Oh. People would walk by
and there were these big white people would go what
are those and I go, it's art. What is it
to you? And the one guy said it looks like
something you would tie your horse up to. I go,
that's what it is. Then. But once those yellow tomatoes

(37:35):
came in, or we put lighting for different holidays, huh,
it was real. It was beautiful.

Speaker 5 (37:41):
It is yeah, And let's face it, a home is
probably one of the biggest investments most people will ever make,
so you should be able to enjoy it. And I
think you know when you have that that beautiful landscape, gardens,
lighting like Angela can can light up those spaces, it
just helps you to really appreciate and enjoy that investment

(38:04):
that you.

Speaker 1 (38:04):
And increase the value of the property. Angel dude, you
go grab the microphone. No, take it right. And so
I was surprised that your answer about the front of
the home like that shocked me a little bit because
I kind of thought I knew the answer and I
was leading it somewhere when you said the front of
the home, is it all about curbo peel?

Speaker 4 (38:24):
You know that's a big part of it and really
your home. You enjoy it so much.

Speaker 3 (38:28):
There's something special about each and every home and the
architecture of that.

Speaker 4 (38:32):
And so when you're able.

Speaker 2 (38:34):
Especially stuckle homes especially, do.

Speaker 3 (38:36):
You know that is very true because they're unique and
they're beautiful.

Speaker 2 (38:39):
Oh that's why we get along. It does. Yeah, you
light up stuck Holmes fantastically.

Speaker 1 (38:43):
They look fantasy except for the cracks, didn't We talked
about that last week.

Speaker 2 (38:46):
L's where you put the light in front of it.

Speaker 1 (38:48):
Ye rights front and highlight highlight of course. Look for
people like gets stuck going. Don't think it's ever going
to crack. You have that conversation with it quickly, don't you.

Speaker 2 (38:57):
Well, there's two kinds of stuckome right, that's cracked, it's
it's going to crack. There you go a hundred years,
it will crack.

Speaker 1 (39:04):
That's a little stucco humor here on the and the
creative construction with scott'son Home Improvement Show. But then getting
back to the increase of value for the property. Look,
if you're looking at home, you want to see it
in the morning, you want to see it in the afternoon,
and you want to see it at night.

Speaker 3 (39:22):
One thousand percent, and if you're selling your home, it
is a very good investment to invest a little bit
in some beautiful uplighting on your home to set that
home apart from others you know online as well as
when people are driving by each and every night, they're
going to fall in love with it when they see

(39:43):
that accent lighting.

Speaker 1 (39:44):
And if and if the grass doesn't look good when
you have the lighting up, guess what, Patty Barriss can
help you with that. In fact, if you go to
our website five tips for growing your best lawn naturally naturally, Yeah,
there's five good I have good points for people, and
we probably won't be able to get to them, but
go to that website Bgreen dot pro bgreen dot pro

(40:08):
and you can find really nice videos. By the way,
you look great on camera. Sure she looks great in person?

Speaker 5 (40:17):
Yeah, yeah, I'm not.

Speaker 1 (40:20):
Why why do you do this to me? Did you
get beat up a lot as a kid or with
with that mouth ears, you're just getting me in trouble
all the time. There you go, well, all of a sudden,
now I'm no, you look great and put both of
you trust me. These girls bring a lot of beauty
into the studio that we normally and don't worry if
Spencer knows what I'm talking about, but thank you so

(40:42):
much for to get to a break. Other side of
the break will continue our conversation with Angela Lingle Design
Go Lighting. Go to Design Go Lighting dot com outdoor
lighting space. And then when when you want to take
a look, make sure that lawn is really good. There's
a lot of services that be Green Pro does long
hair services, yard yard and garden past control services, Dear

(41:06):
Repellent they do a lot, and then some snow things
as well, that pet safe ice melt that we had
talked about in the first segment. All of that information
on her website at Bgreen dot pro. This is the

who you're gonna want to call for all the questions

(41:49):
you had for me last night that I couldn't answer.
Trust me, miss Angela can answer those. And Patti Bears
she is b Greenpro. Go to bgreenpro dot com. Guys.
During the break, we're talking angel a little bit about
some commercial stuff that you guys do as well. And
it's not just residential that you work.

Speaker 4 (42:08):
With, correct, No, we do quite a bit commercial as well.

Speaker 3 (42:12):
And what that does for businesses is it allows them
to stay top of mind by changing their color perhaps
and their lighting and become part of the community, whether
it be a high school basketball game or celebrating Saint
Patrick's Day. Their business reflects what's going on.

Speaker 1 (42:29):
So it's a wonderful Do you do a lot of
seasonal lighting, holiday lighting stuff like that.

Speaker 3 (42:34):
We do do holiday lighting as well. That'll come up
later in the year. But outdoor lighting, with the color changing,
there's really an opportunity to glow warm white every night
and then during the holidays kick it up with some
color and then just enjoy lighting year round.

Speaker 2 (42:48):
Like a little key patty to change the color Yeah, there
you go.

Speaker 4 (42:50):
From an app on your phone.

Speaker 1 (42:52):
Hey Patty, winter time are you guys? Do you slow
down quite a bit?

Speaker 5 (42:57):
Well, I feel like we're always busy these days, but
we do. We do some snowplowing only in the Lake
Country area, and of course we have our ice melt,
which we actually delivered directly to your door, so we
stay pretty busy with that as well.

Speaker 2 (43:11):
Wow, you won't need a Monday though.

Speaker 1 (43:13):
No, it's getting nice this time of year. Are most
of the phone calls regarding spring? And when do you
start working? Does the the the ground have to unthought
for you guys to be able to start doing what
you do, uh, to be able to help people have
a really nice green grass.

Speaker 5 (43:31):
Actually, we really work according to nature, so you hit
it right on the target. We actually really watch for
soil temperatures and we get out there when nature is
calling for us to do service. And we also use
really highly nutritious slow release fertilizers. We do make our
own fertilizer and it we put a very good fertilizer

(43:52):
on in the winter so it helps wake up the
lawn in the spring and then we come back and
we really get it growing green.

Speaker 1 (43:59):
Where where are you guys located that you You must
have a pretty big space to be able to do.

Speaker 4 (44:03):
All this we do.

Speaker 5 (44:04):
We're out in oconom Walk and we formulate our own products.
We do use some other manufacturing facilities to actually make them,
but everything that goes in the bag is what we
formulate to go in there.

Speaker 1 (44:18):
I have to ask you this in twenty eleven when
you started this company. If I told you in twenty
twenty five, here's what your company is going to be,
twenty employees, You're going to be in this area, here's
what you're going to be doing, what would you have
said to me?

Speaker 5 (44:33):
I actually just never really imagined where it would go.
I am really a big I believe in entrepreneurship. I
believe in teaching kids hard work, and so I just thought, well,
we'll start this company. We'll give my kids some work ethic,
they'll earn some money for college, and who knows where
it'll go. But we're so proud of our team, and
we love our customers and we really love our planet.

(44:55):
It's why we do it.

Speaker 1 (44:56):
Man. Good for you, miss Angela. You know, starting your
own company is a big stack up, and I got
to give you credit. You know, when you came in
a little bit early and we had the conversation as
to why you did this. And I love that that
your husband's on the mend and feeling a little bit better.
But to be able to continue to do what you
do in your passion for outdoor lighting in front of

(45:18):
the house that I learned today back to the house side,
all of it, I think is a wonderful step for you.
And you've got some really good preferred partners that you
work with. I'm having fun with it with this transition
in your life.

Speaker 3 (45:31):
I've never had more fun in the outdoor lighting world.
This is my passion and I am just looking forward
to adding a little sparkle throughout southeastern Wisconsin.

Speaker 1 (45:43):
Man that there's a slogan right there. You know, got
design goal lighting add a little sparkle to your outdoor
living space. Guys, it's great to see you bingo any
race car stuff you're doing.

Speaker 2 (45:54):
I'm just going to bring about the temper dream stuff.
I guess right, because I get everybody calling me tell
me it's me warm out a warm on on Monday
and say, hey, it's gonna be warm on next week.
Can come into my house. We'll get to you z
that's not working Monday, do you know that?

Speaker 1 (46:07):
Because it's gonna be sixty he's going to play golf somewhere.

Speaker 2 (46:09):
He's actually actually no, yeah, no, I think they're they're
all going to I think everybody's going to Madison. I
think everybody's going to Mason. And you're trying to wrap
up this job. We got like two nice days. Why
don't I wrap the job?

Speaker 1 (46:19):
You get it done?

Speaker 2 (46:22):
And I spent some time yesterday talking to the Madison chapter,
everything about you know, joining the Madison Chapter of Now as.

Speaker 1 (46:27):
You are of course that servant leadership heart there it is.
Angela is so good to see you again, Miss Patty.
It's really good to meet you. And and that company
b Green Pro that's interesting. And this outdoor living a
collective that they've put together to be able to to
look if you have, Angela come out and she had
and you say, look, we're gonna have the lighting done,

(46:48):
but the lawn looks horrible. Guess what I've got somebody
for you. We need to have you know, the wind,
the window shades, Bavy shade and blind just open a
new location in Economy Walk. Yeah, they just open then,
and really proud of it. So, guys, it's great to
see you. Angela, it's really nice to meet you. Patty Bengo,
it's uh, it's always good to see you, brother. Thanks
for ripping me today. Get me in trouble with with

(47:10):
miss Patty. You look great in person.

Speaker 2 (47:12):
Don't forget don't forget their racing of Phoenix tonight and tomorrow.

Speaker 1 (47:15):
Yeah, I can't wait. Yeah, I've got three different TVs
because I want to get every single angle. This is
the creative Construction of Wisconsin Home Improvement show on Fox
