Speaker 1 (00:00):
We are in Cleveland, Ohio, at the Connor Palace, and
it is a beautiful noise in here, isn't it? The
Neil Diamond Musical. A beautiful Noise at the Connor Palace.
I'm Judy Diamond, So why not bring Neil Diamond from
Connor Palace in Cleveland too? The Fabulous Fox in Saint
Louis And we are with a cast member.
Speaker 2 (00:20):
We are with.
Speaker 3 (00:20):
Mike Accardo who plays Burt Burns and Keeve Diamond in
a Beautiful Noise the Neil Diamond Musical. Both parts correct?
Speaker 2 (00:29):
And how does that work?
Speaker 3 (00:31):
Well, one's in the first act, the other one's in
the second act.
Speaker 2 (00:34):
Oh did you land these roles?
Speaker 3 (00:37):
It was an interesting process. MI in Chicago and my
agent says, uh, I got an audition for you for
a Beautiful Noise in national tour. It's a self tape world.
Now you know you're not going in to read for anybody.
You do it in your basement. So I sent my audition,
you know, a couple of scenes and song, and then
it was like two months. I didn't hear anything, and
(00:57):
my agent goes, are you still interested in that beautiful noise?
Speaker 2 (01:00):
To it?
Speaker 3 (01:00):
And I went suare and like a month after that,
he goes, they want to see you in New York
for the final callbacks for the Principles. I was like, really, okay,
then you got to shell out six hundred bucks to
get yourself to New York. It turns into an expensive audition,
but it was worth it.
Speaker 2 (01:16):
Yes, because you got the part. Again.
Speaker 1 (01:19):
We're talking to Michael Lecardo from the Neil Diamond musical
A Beautiful Noise, and we're taking it from Connor Palace,
beautiful Cleveland, Ohio to the Fabulous Fox, playing two roles.
And you know, without giving too much away, the body
of work of Neil Diamond is already amazing, and this
is just so incredible.
Speaker 2 (01:39):
It's about his life.
Speaker 3 (01:40):
Yeah, through his eyes and he the Neil now is
on stage with his psychotherapy and they're going through all
of his catalog wondering why. And he wrote these songs.
The Noise, the Beautiful Noise are all the noises in
Neil's head. And they are the hardest working ensemble that
(02:04):
they are a character of themselves and they're truly amazing
patch of young people who do all the heavy lifting.
I'm the youngest of the old guys. And I've got
a Princess track. You know. It's like I come in
for a couple of scenes in the first act and
a scene in the second act, and I'm so grateful
(02:25):
for it at this time of my career to be
afforded the opportunity to get fifty two straight weeks of work.
It's never happened in my career. And I've been doing
this for forty years because I've never had a national
tour or Broadway play, and that's the only way you're
going to get, you know, So I'm going to ride
this is as long as I can. It's lovely and
(02:45):
it's a joy, and I love everybody in the cast
and the creatives and stage management. It's just been a
joy so far.
Speaker 1 (02:52):
And Neil Diamond had everything to do with this whole
musical everything.
Speaker 3 (02:57):
Yeah, he wrote all the songs obviously, and all this
stuff has been approved by him. His buddy Bob Gaudio
is the one of the is the developer and producer
of this show. And he was in a performance of
Jersey Boys with Bob Gaudio and he said, Hey, Bob,
how do I get one of these? Because there's no
(03:19):
there are no documentaries about Neil Diamond. There are no
biographical tales about Neil Diamond. This is his and now
that he's not able to tour anymore, he did this
show to get it going on Broadway, but ultimately he
wanted to take it on the road because he lived
on the road. And we're playing huge houses out here
(03:42):
and they've been full, and it's just the beginning. This
is I'm looking at it as Neil's final tour, however
long it will last. I want to be a part
of it. I'm really proud to be a part of it.
We were in in Providence and Neil's wife, Katie came
(04:03):
to the opening night performance and she came on stage
for the curtain call with Nick and she called and
got Neil on FaceTime and we all sang Sweet cair
Line together and how cool was that? The cast was
just like, how cool was this? And Providence just went
(04:27):
not just to treat the.
Speaker 1 (04:29):
Body of work and how many songs Neil Diamond wrote,
and you say his final tour, but it's also the
beginning for a whole new generation crop of young people
to discover the incredible body of work and the talent
of Neil Diamond.
Speaker 3 (04:45):
Sure, absolutely, Oh Yeah, he sold one hundred and forty
million albums. And how many people have recorded his songs?
How many records of they sold? Did you ever hear
about a frog who dreamed of being a king and
then became one? He became the king bigger than Elvis. Hey,
it took its toll on him and his relationships and
(05:08):
wives and family, but that's what he was made to do,
you know, the road became his family.
Speaker 1 (05:14):
Well, Michael Locardo, I am so thankful you're a part
of this. Thank you for talking with us.
Speaker 3 (05:19):
Oh, it's my pleasure.
Speaker 2 (05:21):

Well, you are going to be in for such a treat.
Why I should ask you? Actually?
Speaker 1 (05:37):
Have you actually performed at the Fabulous Fox at Saint Louis?

I first got the schedule, I started looking at all
these theaters and I went in order and I got
to the Fabulous Fox in Saint Louis, and I was astounded,
and I'm so looking.
