Speaker 1 (00:00):
Right now, we're gonna head out to the high line
and bring on saving On Jones one of the newest
Denver Broncos saved. Thank you so much for the time, man, congratulations.
What was it like receiving that phone call from the
Denver Broncos just a little bit ago.
Speaker 2 (00:13):
Well, first of think, I mean, thanks for having me
on the show man. I appreciate it, and it's a
blessing of being this position I am right now. But
I mean receiving that phone call was just felt like
every kid's dream, you know, you know, their dream to
being an NFL And I felt like the phone call
right there was when my dream was answer, my dream
became a reality. And then I mean not from there.
(00:36):
It's a dream that I made, but it's a dream
that I want to continue to have. Man, I mean,
I'm just here to do my best work.
Speaker 3 (00:44):
There's something really interesting about your your profile. You were
a three sport athlete. Now, how did all of those
three sports help you translate those skills to get to
this point now?
Speaker 2 (00:58):
I mean, I feel like when it comes to a track,
until just just being able to have those those type
of those you know, the main thing I used to
work on was my get off, and of course not
get off football wise, but get all track wise, which
helps correlate to football. When it comes to basketball. I mean,
if you're in a if you're in a loosive basketball player,
(01:19):
I feel like that translates to to the field, especially
that defensive end position, because I mean being able to
have good work, good footwork and basketball means you have
good forwork in football too.
Speaker 4 (01:32):
So you're a loser. Had a kid through and through.
I believe you came up there.
Speaker 2 (01:35):
You know, been down the South, you know.
Speaker 4 (01:37):
Your whole life a little bit more humid than it
is out here. Have you ever been out the Colorado before?
Speaker 2 (01:43):
Man? I mean actually I've never been out there before.
I mean the first I've been most recently was Seattle,
and I mean I don't think it was that bad
as what it is going to be in Denver, But
I mean I'm kind of used to our weather. You know,
in Louisiana is almost never a good day. It's either
really hot or really cold. So I mean I feel
(02:03):
like I'm ready.
Speaker 4 (02:05):
Well I'll tell you this though. The weather's temperate, but
it's it's very, very dry, So load up on some chapstick.
I come from Arkansas, I know how it is out here,
and you gotta get used to that elevation.
Speaker 2 (02:15):
All right, I'm gonna keep that in the back of
my mind.
Speaker 1 (02:18):
God good advice.
Speaker 2 (02:20):
I say.
Speaker 1 (02:20):
One of the things that I noticed here is you
had twenty seven straight starts to finish your LSU career,
and that I mean that right there. I mean, the
availability is one of the best abilities in this game.
What would you sort of credit that ability to stay
on the field and then produce this just a high level.
Speaker 2 (02:40):
I mean one of the main things is just the
staff we had. I mean the staff we had that
was amazing and along with the facility, it was top notch.
And just the resources that LSU gave us. I mean
that's one of the main things. And I mean the
other thing is just me going out there to seek
out those resources to hold my body.
Speaker 3 (02:57):
You know.
Speaker 2 (02:58):
I feel like I feel like when you've become a pro,
that's something that's a lot of things that most pro
work on, and I felt like I found out early
that I need to start working on that.
Speaker 3 (03:08):
Now. Of course, I have to ask you this question
because when we look at every prospect, every prospect has
all these great things to say about how they love
the game. But one thing I'm going to ask you
about the art of competition. Now, if I were to
ask you to give me your definition of competitiveness as
(03:29):
you describing yourself, how would you frame that out?
Speaker 2 (03:35):
I mean, I feel like it's a quite simple answer, actually,
and I see competition that's iron sharpened and iron I
mean it could be one of the best. Like, Okay,
for example, you know, I went against Will, she was
a top five pick. I went against him every single
day in practice, and I felt like that was one
of the main reasons I was able to elevate my
game to the next level, and while also she was
(03:56):
also able to get better throughout the season of just
us going against each other.
Speaker 4 (03:59):
Repeat, Well, you just gotta stole my question there, because
I was gonna be like, what was it like going
up against Will every day? And does he owe you
a portion of his signing bonus for having, you know,
prepped him for being a top four pick there of
the NFL.
Speaker 2 (04:14):
I mean, I ain't gonna bring it up to him.
Speaker 5 (04:16):
But you know, maybe, well, hey man, we we were
really thrilled to have you got a long litty of
LSU defensive ends making it in the NFL.
Speaker 4 (04:26):
SU defensive lineman making the NFL. How do you stack
up with that that history of LSU defensive lineman.
Speaker 2 (04:32):
I mean, just just knowing that that that history behind me,
and about the d lineans that went from LSU to
the NFL and how they been playing a lot of
years there. I just feel like I would say it's
a it's a bad tip on my shoulder, but I
feel like it's a really good tip of my shoulder.
Just to know that that, you know, I have a
standard top hell up fold at l s U and
(04:52):
I want to be able to do that well.
Speaker 1 (04:55):
Savey On, We are really thrilled that you were a
drafted by the Broncos tonight and we can't wait to
meet when you come out here to Denver. Thank you
so much for the time, man, congratulations, Thank you all right,
Save you On Jones
