Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's good to see you, man.

Speaker 2 (00:00):
How uh you know, I do think that every draft
sort of has a bit of a theme. Every draft
is sort of a storyline for you. What is going
to be the storyline of this draft?

Speaker 3 (00:10):
You know a lot of these players we drafted were
players we targeted. You know, we felt like the draft
kind of fell our way. You know, we made some
of that happen with the trades we made. I think
we made four trades and and so that kind of
set that, you know, the first trade kind of set
up the rest, you know, the first day, and then
you know, obviously the rest of the trades set up
the rest of the draft. And so I thought it
kind of fell our way this this year. And it
doesn't always happen like that.

Speaker 4 (00:31):
The only pick you picked, it was your original pick
was in the first round, a twenty baron fell in
your lap.

Speaker 1 (00:35):
And then you played the board and moved around.

Speaker 4 (00:37):
How exciting is it for you to be able to
move around?

Speaker 3 (00:39):
Well, that's what it's all about. That's say you have
your best drafts, you know, is it moving around? You
take a risk, but man, it typically works out and
you get more picks and you have more flexibility. And
I say that too often, but to have flexibility is
how you really hit.

Speaker 1 (00:50):
In this draft.

Speaker 2 (00:52):
I want to ask you specifically about Argie Harvey. I
loved your point that you made, Yester it about his vision,
and boy it really it really shows out. Was that
one of the priorities when you were looking at running
backs and you know you're thinking about what that room needs? Yeah,
did you start there or was some other things that
I guess facets of running back?

Speaker 3 (01:10):
We just turned on the tape and let it, let
the tape talk to us, and then and spoke very
very quickly, and he jumps off the tape.

Speaker 1 (01:16):
He has a great vision. But then that burst.

Speaker 3 (01:19):
You know, he can create on his own when it's
not blocked well, and that's hard to find in a
back and and when he creates on his own, he
can take.

Speaker 1 (01:25):
It to the house any play and so that that's
fun watch. Well, on that.

Speaker 4 (01:28):
Note, Loner doesn't exactly have a ton of tape out there.

Speaker 3 (01:30):
Well, he had he had four catches, as you know,
and they were all touchdowns and now efficiency he also
had a two point catch, so he's five for five.

Speaker 1 (01:37):
So how do that? Though?

Speaker 4 (01:39):
I mean, he doesn't have any tape from seventh grade
on to the you know, how do you how do
you say this is enough for us to make this decision?

Speaker 1 (01:45):
Fifty seven plays?

Speaker 3 (01:46):
And so it's you know, he played foot you know,
he obviously he's a basketball player. I don't even know
if he put on pads. I don't think he had,
you know, And his first time putting on pads is
at Utah. And so when you watch him, I wouldn't
saw him at CEU, you know, and just wanted to
see him.

Speaker 1 (01:59):
Man, he looked really good pads.

Speaker 3 (02:00):
He wore his pads well for a guy who hadn't
put him on very long in his life, you know.
And and football takes a bit, but man, he could
lower his pads. He blocked. I mean he's working the
blocking part of it, but he only had four catches,
but he was open a lot and they didn't throw
him the ball, and so he can stretch the field.
He's sudden out of his But he watched his pro day, Man,
it was really good. He's got really good hands, as

(02:20):
you can imagine for a basketball player.

Speaker 2 (02:22):
He came into this drafts not needing to look really
at the quarterbacks. How different was that for you?

Speaker 1 (02:27):
And I mean, it's been a minute. It's been a minute.
It's kind of nice.

Speaker 3 (02:31):
You know, obviously we evaluate the quarterbacks, but it's nice
to focus on the rest of the team.

Speaker 1 (02:35):
You know.

Speaker 3 (02:35):
We obviously we love our quarterback room, and so it
is nice. I mean, it's the challenges all over, you
know this The draft's always a challenge.

Speaker 1 (02:42):
Who you take, when you take him, do you move
back or not?

Speaker 3 (02:45):
And but it's certainly nice not to have to worry
about the quarterback position.

Speaker 1 (02:49):
Yeah, all the.

Speaker 4 (02:49):
Storks with microphones and pens, we were picking running back
in the first round.

Speaker 1 (02:52):
You got us.

Speaker 4 (02:53):
But as far as the jahne bearing thing goes, like,
at what point, what was the inflection point where you
started raising your eyebrown and said, hey, maybe because for me,
when when Miami didn't take him, I'm looking him like, hey, yeah, I.

Speaker 3 (03:02):
Thought I thought he would get to us when they
didn't take him, and then, you know, I think we
were worried maybe Arizona Cincinnati, but started, you know, once
he kind of hit those key spots, we felt pretty
good that he would be there. And then do we
trade back? And we and we just said, man, let's
just take this player. He's the best player on a board,
really good player, and we could you know, obviously we
you know, people are saying you should have taken this
or that you can always use corners and we need

(03:23):
depth to corner and he we feel like he's an
elite player. And I mean we talked a lot about
the joker position right on the offense, but this joker on.

Speaker 1 (03:31):
Defense defense exact.

Speaker 3 (03:33):
Uh, you could play him anywhere inside, outside, He could
play safety, and he could he can thrive in all
those positions.

Speaker 2 (03:39):
Dime.

Speaker 3 (03:39):
You know, you watch him at Texas Man, I studied
this guy during the season. Then you know, then I
get Sewan on board. And and when you when you
watch a player during the season, you watch three three games,
you move on to the next player, you write him up.
But when you can spend a day just watching one player,
and it's just like, oh my gosh, this guy's really
really good. You know, when you watch all his man coverage,
you watch his own, you watch the quarters, and you again,

(04:00):
you do a deep.

Speaker 1 (04:01):
Dive and you're like, this is our guy.

Speaker 4 (04:03):
You obviously you drafted Pat Bryant, and I believe I
was texted while you were up there at the podium.
The you guys are signing the Arkansas state wide receiver
recording could be wrong on that.

Speaker 1 (04:11):
I'm not sure. Okay, I'm not sure what they're doing.
What did you see more than me? Yeah?

Speaker 4 (04:18):
What did you say? What did you see?

Speaker 2 (04:19):
It?

Speaker 1 (04:19):
Pat that? You know they really sold you on him.

Speaker 3 (04:22):
Oh he's you know, he's just the size, the ball
skills for someone his size that can run routes, run
the whole route, tree, can transition in and out, he
can he can stop. The big guys sometimes have a
hard time stop and then starting, and he can do both.
I know he ran four six one, but if you
look at some of the other metrics at GPS, you
know he was in the four four sevens.

Speaker 1 (04:39):
So we don't just look at the forty.

Speaker 3 (04:40):
We look at the twenty, We look at we look
at everything, and then you just watch him play. The
physicality fits kind of what Sean wants in a receiver.
He'll block ball skills, outstanding, big playability.

Speaker 1 (04:52):
They go to him in the clutch, you know. And
you watch the Rutgers.

Speaker 3 (04:54):
You watch the Rutgers game, which is the most crazy
game I've ever seen.

Speaker 1 (04:57):
Three game winners. I think that's unbelievable.

Speaker 3 (05:00):
So just love the way competes, Love the way he
plays with passion and in alpha.

Speaker 1 (05:04):
You know, I on the offensive side.

Speaker 2 (05:06):
All right, last couple here for you. Really appreciate time
as as always, George. So you between free agency and
the draft, now, I mean you add your udfas, but
that's going to be the roster that you're going to
be competing with in twenty twenty five. Sean sort of
said at the end of the season, you guys were
primed as he sought to compete for the division. How
do you feel like this team has assembled sort of
filled some of the gaps that you feel like you

(05:27):
needed to do.

Speaker 1 (05:28):
No, I like where we're at.

Speaker 3 (05:29):
You know, I think we did fill a lot of
holes and it never stops filling holes. And we haven't
been together yet, you know, we haven't. I mean that
they're working out in phase one. We'll get the rookies
in here. We like our team. I'm not going to
get into, you know, all that stuff. I'll let Sean
kind of talk, but we like this team. It'll be
great when they all come together and see them work together.
But like where we're at, felt.

Speaker 4 (05:50):
Like that this draft was in addition to filling you
know the things that you needed. But it also felt
like at the end that this was sort of a
resounding vote of confidence in some of the younger guys.
You guys drafted the last couple of years, would you
say that's a fair acess I do. And and some players,
you know, they can play right away. Some it takes
a year, some it takes two.

Speaker 3 (06:06):
And we feel like some of our second third year
guys will to start hitting their prime much like Riley Moss,
much like Nick Bonito did, And so you know, we
look for that push. And then these coaches do a
great job at developing players, and so does our sports
performance side.

Speaker 1 (06:18):
So we feel good.

Speaker 2 (06:20):
You have some decisions to make with some guys that
are in the final year of the contract with Zach Allen,
for example, like that you guys said you wanted to
wait in his laughter the draft.

Speaker 1 (06:28):
How are you feeling about some of those guys as
they stacked.

Speaker 3 (06:30):
Yeah, we'll get there, you know, we just want to
soak in this draft. And I'm probably gonna have a
take a nap my wife where my daughter has a
prom to night.

Speaker 1 (06:37):
I gotta try to hurt so there.

Speaker 4 (06:39):
Yeah, George, all right, I appreciate you guys, thanks time,
I appreciate you very much.

Speaker 1 (06:43):
