Speaker 1 (00:22):
KSR Pre Show is always being brought to you by
Italics bying Italian Dining in Lexington.
Speaker 3 (00:28):
And we're here after Father's Day weekend.
Speaker 1 (00:31):
Billy, I hope that you were able to spend some
time with dear old Dad and had a good time
with your dad over the weekend for Father's dere Yeah.
Speaker 2 (00:37):
Man, I had a great weekend, trying to hold on
to sports as much as possible before it goes away forever,
or at least for a few months until football season
starts with the US Open, the College World Series, the
NBA Finals. But Friday night we went to Freedom Hall
and we went to an LFA fight, so it's like
the minor leagues and we went to c Yeah, yeah,
and it was. It was fine. It was. It wasn't
(00:59):
as good as some events in the past, Shannon, But
I don't know. It's always a little bit more fun
than I think it's gonna be when you see somebody
get clocked in the face like that. I don't know,
So it's a little different than the Shannon the dude
running around the ring. What are you talking about the
getting a chair?
Speaker 1 (01:15):
I mean defending my title, being the longest reigning champion
in OVW history.
Speaker 3 (01:19):
If that's what you mean, then that's fine.
Speaker 1 (01:20):
Please see I was giving away tickets for that on
QMF last week, so you know I was thinking about
going to it. I didn't make it out there, so
you're saying it was it was okay though, right?
Speaker 4 (01:30):
It was?
Speaker 2 (01:30):
Yeah, it was fine. You know, it's not a ton
of people that show out for that, so no matter
where you're at, you're gonna have a good seat in
the house there. But no, it was fun. Got to
cook out with my dad on Sunday and watch a
little bit of the US Open, which is always a
tradition in our household on Father's Day, so it was
really nice. What about you, dude, what did you get it?
Speaker 3 (01:48):
Did the cookout thing?
Speaker 1 (01:49):
We also watched some of the College World series, the
Global Game, which we'll get into in a little bit.
Speaker 3 (01:53):
That was that was a crazy game.
Speaker 1 (01:54):
But yeah, you know, it's always good to be able
to spend some time with with dad on Father's Day.
And that's what it's all about, right, just spending some
good quality time it is.
Speaker 2 (02:04):
And then you know, coming off of the heels of
that show we did with the US Army on Friday
was a lot of fun. Ryan Lemon impressing us all
with his deadlifting ability, how about that?
Speaker 1 (02:12):
Yeah, my guy, Ryan, I mean he picked up two
hundred and forty pounds like it was a baby. I
was like, wow, okay, I mean I believed in them
sort of. But then when he picked that two forty up,
I was like, oh my gosh, my guy does have
some old man's strength. Did you go over there and
try it at any point?
Speaker 2 (02:29):
No, I you know, I'd hate to show righting up
or really anybody that.
Speaker 3 (02:32):
Was how could you show? I mean, because he dominated it.
Speaker 1 (02:37):
I mean he picked up that two forty and not
only did he pick it up, he stood there with
it for a good thirty seconds and posed for the.
Speaker 2 (02:43):
Crowd country strong like he said that old man's strength was.
I was impressed, and you know there was a thought
he could have maybe done three hundred. He may have
strained a little bit, Shannon, but you know what, have
a lot of respect for those guys and everything that
they do with the US Army and enjoyed talking to
Sergeant Adams and uh, you know we've done shows with
the Fire Department now the US Army, Shannon. So it
(03:04):
just kind of illuminates all the great heroes out there
that actually have a tough job unlike me and you
know out here.
Speaker 1 (03:10):
Yeah, yeah, so big thanks to the US Army for
having us out there. And we'll be on remote tomorrow,
but we can't say where, right, it's a it's a secret,
no crowd show, no crowd show.
Speaker 2 (03:19):
All right, Friday, We're at Mike's Landing, so one of
our favorite shows. That's right now. Okay, Now, Mike's Landing.
Speaker 1 (03:25):
Isn't that the place that we had the cabin and
you got locked in the bathroom.
Speaker 2 (03:30):
That's that's correct.
Speaker 1 (03:31):
Okay, that's how I remember Mike's Landing from here on out.
That's your along with the two mimosas Billy getting locked
in the bathroom for over an hour. That's how I
remember the Mike's Landing show. So yes, we're gonna have
a cabin again, maybe the same one. We will have
a cabin, and I think, I think, for old Tom's sake,
we need to lock you in the bathroom.
Speaker 2 (03:47):
For I've requested to not have that same cabin ever
since that year. But that is that is a fun show.
There's no cell phone service there. As I learned as
I was trapped in the bathroom for an hour, that
that situation was fine for twenty twenty five minutes. But
I was, you know, forty forty five, and I was
starting to get a little lancey, and Shannon is just
evil laughing in the background the entire time. I still
(04:09):
have the video, like no help, like not trying to
get me out, just him dying, laughing the entire time.
Speaker 1 (04:14):
You know, like when your phone gets full of storage
and there's like a bunch of videos you have to
delete to you know, free up some space. Of course,
every time I come across the video of you getting
locked in the bath that's one I will not delete,
like just by principle, Like okay, I'll delete all these
other things, these other videos, not deleting videos of Billy
being locked in the in the cabin.
Speaker 2 (04:35):
It might mean looking through the whole of the door
knob that we had punched out trying to that was
that was, that was all in the maintenance man.
Speaker 3 (04:43):
So look forward to that coming up on Friday. All right.
Speaker 1 (04:45):
So on Friday afternoon, Billy we got the news that
Derek Shay is now the new tight ends coach at Kentucky.
God who has a background in Illinois. That's kind of
where he came from. He played at Western Illinois then
Eastern Illinois, so that's kind of like his his his
home base where he came from. But now here at Kentucky,
you're gonna be taking over for Vince Marrow, at least
on the tight ends positions when it comes to the duties.
(05:07):
But I know that Vince had so many roles that
he filled here at Kentucky. I think it's probably going
to be dispersed among a few people, not all on
Derek Shay, is the way I understand it is that right.
Speaker 2 (05:19):
I would think. So as much as we called Vince
Marrow the tight ends coach, we knew that most of
his job was on the trail recruiting, and so maybe
Derek Shay can have a more I guess focused to
look at the tight ends and maybe that can be
a benefit. But this is the guy that was on
the staff last year. He was with Marshall I believe
a year before that, so it does have some experience,
(05:41):
but they promoted within kind of tough to do anything
else when you're sitting in June trying to find a
new hire. And that goes to the point of Vince
really put Kentucky in a tough spot when he decided
to do this at the time that he did. So,
looking forward to hearing from Derek and hopefully he's a
good guy.
Speaker 3 (05:58):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (05:58):
So Vince Beta's rounds on lovel radio shows on Friday,
including an interview with Terry Miners where he opened up,
you know, about his relationship with Stoops and basically said
there was a communication breakdown that led to Vince seeing
Louisville as a better opportunity for him and mentioned that
the way things are now, this is the new college
(06:19):
football and Jeff Bram he felt like, really got ahead
of all of it.
Speaker 3 (06:23):
And if you didn't hear that interview, with Terry Miners.
Speaker 1 (06:26):
It's posted up on Terry's or the eight forty WHS website,
I think on Terry's website as well.
Speaker 2 (06:32):
His podcast feed. Yes, yeah, yeah, if you want.
Speaker 3 (06:34):
To check that out.
Speaker 1 (06:34):
But you know, I think fans are sort of over
it at this point, but I think still in shock
a little bit. I don't know if you saw this morning, Billy,
but Athlete Advantage posted a video of Vince Merrow kind
of saying his final goodbyes to Big Blue Nation.
Speaker 3 (06:49):
I'll leave it this morning. This morning. This was posted forty
minutes ago.
Speaker 2 (06:53):
Oh I haven't seen this.
Speaker 1 (06:54):
Okay, well, okay, it's a minute fifteen. I was going
to cut it down to like forty five seconds or
thirty seconds.
Speaker 3 (07:00):
Do you want to hear all of it or what
do you want?
Speaker 2 (07:02):
You said it a minute fifteen, Okay, just play the
whole thing and that's okay? Too much long?
Speaker 4 (07:06):
All right?
Speaker 1 (07:07):
This is uh, this is Vince Marroy heartfelt goodbye to
Big Blue Nation.
Speaker 5 (07:10):
Listen, I want to talk to you guys, the Big
Blue Nation. I really love you guys, and I really
really appreciate because you guys really helped me build my
career with your support from when I first came here.
I remember if Buddy told me why you're going there?
You you guys gonna be fired in two years. I was
the lowest paid coach. I heard all the jokes. I
(07:31):
wanted to build and bring players in so we can
win and we can have some pride and dignity. It
is hard. I'm not going to even sugarcoat it. It's
hard because of my loyalty to really you guys, the fans.
But this is a job opportunity. I feel like I
can't pass up. I passed up several other ones that people,
(07:54):
you guys as the fans know. But just like a
lot of you guys, you got family. He's a lot
of you guys had opportunities with different jobs, and you
move and take it. You doing what's best for your family.
I'm doing what's best for my career. I really enjoyed
being here thirteen years with you guys, because you guys
(08:15):
are a really good fan base to the Big Blue Nation,
one of the best. I'm pretty sure y'all gonna boo
me when I come back, though, but I really do
love you guys.
Speaker 1 (08:24):
Oh yeah, we're gonna boo you. Evince, don't worry about that.
So there you go. There was the heartfelt goodbye message.
Does that make you feel any better? Well, I guess
you're the one who's actually going to be cheering for
Vince at Lobelle to succeed anyway, So maybe you're the
wrong person to ask. Maybe I should ask the fan
base eight five nine, twenty two eighty seven, or at
Shannon the dude at Billy or sports on Twitter, what's
(08:45):
your reaction to that video from Vince?
Speaker 2 (08:47):
Well, you know me, I get it, like as the
one person that wished him the best of luck. I
get what he's doing what's best for his career. But Vince,
I feel like all the talking engagements he's done over
the last few days to believe everything's just going to
be the same between him and the fan base Shannon,
and I think that's where the delusion for me sets
in a little bit, because you can go to you know,
(09:09):
to your new career and to your new job, but
when it's the one that's in direct competition with you,
then feelings aren't going to be the same from the
fan base. So I think that's a little naive from Vince.
You know, he had a tweet that said something to
the effect of I never said anything bad about Lexington.
It's one of the best cities I've ever lived in,
hands down. I will miss the good people there, and
the University of Kentucky Alumni Association responded with like an
(09:32):
l's down TWEETZ, I know, I love that. I did
see that, so I obviously, I don't think it's going
to be the same obviously between Vince and the fan base,
you know, but he did give twelve years and did
a lot of things, good things for Kentucky. So I think,
just like many coaches in the past, BBN will look
back and think what he did. But it's not going
(09:53):
to be soon, and he does have to realize that.
Speaker 1 (09:56):
Yeah, I mean, he said he was loyal, and he
was loyal. He did turned down on other jobs to
stay at Kentucky, but at the end of the day
he left and went to Louisville. I love you, Vince.
I know you were loyal for a long time, but
you left for Lobell Again.
Speaker 2 (10:13):
It's a slap in the face of this fan base.
Speaker 1 (10:15):
I don't think having a you know, heartfelt goodbye and
putting some little piano music behind it is going to
make Big Blue Nation feel any better about what happened.
It's just not you went to Lousbelle. We talked about
this last week. You don't go to Louisville, and you
don't go to Tennessee. You go anywhere else. We're gonna
love you forever. It doesn't matter if you're not at Kentucky.
But when you go to Louisville, that's different.
Speaker 6 (10:37):
It is.
Speaker 1 (10:37):
And anybody who thinks differently than I don't think you
have a good understanding of this rivalry. I mean, it
is the most hated rival you have. And you went
straight from Kentucky to Louisville. And I know he tried
to put a spin on it, Like you know, it's
just like any of you. If you were to get
a better job, that's going to help you and you know,
feed your family. I mean, come on, man, like you didn't.
(10:59):
I don't even think he got more money, did he?
According to the the is it the same amount of money.
So let's let's not act like they were paying them
double to come to Louisville.
Speaker 2 (11:10):
Well, you know the reality of the situation is Vince
saw the writing on the wall. Like many of us.
I think we are predicting an under five hundred season
from Mark Stoops in Kentucky this year, So he is
one year ahead of Kentucky dropping Stoops in his assistance.
So that's what I see it. And they say, you
know what, you know, go do your thing. Best of
luck to your Vince. But to hear things like him
(11:31):
and Stoops weren't talking for the last couple of weeks.
It was like a bad marriage, you know. Vince regrets
that the news got out before he could talk to
Mark Stoops. I absolutely hate that Shannon.
Speaker 1 (11:41):
Kind of putting the heat back on Stoops. Is he
not by saying that that you know, there was no
communication a communication breakdown, I believe is how he put it.
Speaker 2 (11:50):
Well, yeah, I remember on Friday, what did he say
about the offense? He was like, I wasn't always working
with uh, you know, the best offense or with the
you know, things in the cupboard or whatever it was.
Speaker 1 (12:01):
And I know, like, you know, you break down the
numbers and it shows that by the numbers, he was
slipping a little bit. But do you think that the
guy just completely lost his touch and forgot how to recruit?
There's going to be ebbs and flows when it comes
to recruiting, especially when you're at Kentucky.
Speaker 3 (12:16):
Maybe not when you're at Alabama. Maybe when you're at Alabama.
Speaker 1 (12:19):
Or Georgia football, you can consistently bring in top recruits
every single year. But we're talking about Kentucky football, and
Vince Merrill was able to bring in guys that we
never thought would even consider playing at Kentucky. He had
him on the roster out there on the field. Again,
you go back to, Okay, well, as you know lately here,
you know, these guys have it, these big recruits haven't
(12:39):
even started, haven't even played. I still think he's one
of the best recruiters out there, and I can't downplay
what he meant to this team.
Speaker 2 (12:46):
But he's at Lowell. Now that's a great point. We
have to recognize all the good that he did for
the university, but we can also recognize that the landscape
of college football has changed and the importance of getting
you know, ten to fifteen three stars from aio is
is different nowadays, when you're using you know, funds from
the athletic department to pay players that maybe had started
(13:08):
an SC school SEC school last year. It's just it's
just completely different, and so you know, can Vince pivot
and become somebody that's good in that space. I'm sure
he can. And his relationship with Bram is gonna help
that bring in those guys to Louisville. But you know,
the we talked about Eric Wolford getting the raise and
he doesn't develop anybody, Shannon, So like, you know, maybe
(13:29):
this is just a complete philosophy shift, or maybe it's
you know, people seeing or jumping off the ship before
this last year.
Speaker 1 (13:35):
But did you see the guy at the College World
Series with the Vince Merril shirt on was behind home play.
Speaker 2 (13:41):
I only got it tweeted at me like two or
three times by somebody. Maybe that guy.
Speaker 3 (13:46):
Shirt says Vince Merrow biggest hill turned since John Ceno.
Speaker 2 (13:50):
I like it. That shirt was, Yeah, it was.
Speaker 1 (13:53):
It was posted all over over Twitter yesterday throughout the
weekend eight five nine, twenty two eighty seven. We'll talk
more about the College World Series coming up next. We'll
take your phone calls as well at Shannon the Dude
at Billy our Sports on Twitter. If you can't call in,
or just hit us up on the text line. Billy's
got that five O two two six five six six
five six. We're going to take a break. We'll be
right back. It is the KSR pre Show. Welcome back.
(14:15):
It is the KSRP Pre Show. Shannon the Dude and
Billy religeb five nine, two eighth, twenty two eighty seven.
Got some open lines if you want to get in tonight, Billy,
it's game five Pacers Thunder. You know, the Pacers completely
blew it last game. They had a chance, they were
up going into the fourth quarter, had a chance to
go up three games to one. All of a sudden,
(14:36):
you win that game, Billy, You put OKC in panic mode.
Speaker 3 (14:39):
But the Thunder come back.
Speaker 1 (14:40):
Shay Gillig as Alexander was doing Shay Gillig Alexander things,
and Thunder come back and win game four, Game five.
Tonight back in OKC, and now I think all of
the pressure has sort of shifted back onto Indiana at
this point.
Speaker 2 (14:55):
Yeah, that was that was your chance to go three
to one and then really have a good shot at
winning this thing. But you know, you gotta tip your
cap to Shay Man. I think he scored eleven in
the final three minutes, which is a finals record, I believe. So,
I mean, this guy, you know, quickly becoming, if not already,
one of the best Kentucky players in the NBA. There's
no doubt. So I'm excited to see that. You said
that's tonight.
Speaker 3 (15:16):
That is tonight. Who did good?
Speaker 2 (15:19):
I'm going OKC.
Speaker 3 (15:20):
Yeah, I think so.
Speaker 1 (15:21):
I picked OKAC in six. I think Pacers don't win
another game. I said that on Friday. I'll say it again.
Speaker 2 (15:26):
But you don't think they win another game?
Speaker 3 (15:27):
No, no, you.
Speaker 1 (15:28):
Were telling me that your favorite story from over the
weekend involved the the Pacers OKC game with steven A Smith.
Speaker 2 (15:36):
Yeah, so this is my favorite story of the weekend
because there's a lot of drama involving steven A. Because
somebody took a photo of steven A at the last
NBA Finals game playing Solitaire on his phone, and you know, look,
we're calling steven A out. People are posting the photo.
Stephen A responds online, says, all right, you got me,
ha ha ha. Yes, I can multitask, especially during timeouts.
(16:00):
You know, story's over, well, steven A. The fans found
out that you were playing it during the game as well,
not just during time out. I've played Solitaire before.
Speaker 1 (16:08):
I know you cannot get in an entire game of
solitaire during a timeout. Time outs are like what three
minutes something like that, two or three minutes. Yeah, you
can't get an entire game of Solitaire in that quickly.
So yeah, well you're doing Steven Asmith playing solitaire.
Speaker 2 (16:21):
Watch the game? So look bad look for Steven A.
You know a line about it, you know, pie on
the face. But fair or foul for Steven A who
makes millions of dollars, if not hundreds of millions to
be a talking hit on ESPN is at an NBA
Finals game playing solitaire during the game. Can we take
anything that he says seriously? Or this is this normal
(16:43):
human behavior?
Speaker 1 (16:44):
He looks so uninterested in anything going on, especially when
you're at the NBA Finals and you're playing solitary. You're
telling me playing cards is more entertaining than watching the
pacers and Oka.
Speaker 3 (16:54):
See.
Speaker 1 (16:55):
I guarantee you if this New York Knicks were playing
in the finals, he wouldn't be sitting over there playing solitaire.
So yeah, I think it's a bad look for Steven Asmith.
And then to go back and lie about it. But
you know, some people like to.
Speaker 3 (17:06):
Take a book and read a book at a ball game.
Speaker 2 (17:09):
But here's the difference.
Speaker 1 (17:11):
Matt Jones is not on the you know, Cincinnati Reads
postgame show. You know, so I think it's a little
bit different when you're just, you know, a regular spectator
versus somebody who's getting paid to be there and you're
playing Solitaire on your phone.
Speaker 2 (17:24):
No, I'm with you, Like, Look, I'm not going to
be a hypocrite. You know, I've I've played a Solitaire
or Clash of Clans during a UK game or something
like that, Shannon, just to distract yourself, get your mind
off of it. But if you want to say that
you're the authority on something, especially at the biggest stage
in the NBA Finals, you can't be caught on your
phone on solimn or the authority of Solitaire, Steven aoodle
(17:48):
jump and people catch you at the game or something
like that. Guy so disliked you can't even find one
other person in that arena to play cards with them.
He's going to play by himself Solitaire. Man, it's a
solid game. Though, Like you, there's somebody listening right now,
maybe at work now, possibly with a Solitaire game, Bob.
Speaker 1 (18:04):
No, if you're listening to the KSR pre show, you're
so entertained you don't need another form of entertainment during
the KSR pre show.
Speaker 2 (18:11):
Oh you're listening to the pre show playing solitaire, right,
trying not to do work on this Monday morning.
Speaker 3 (18:15):
That's right.
Speaker 1 (18:16):
Hey, the NBA Finals are here, as we just mentioned,
and this is your last chance to bet on the
NBA till next season. Maybe you can, you know, throw
on a bet then play solitaire while you're watching the game.
Speaker 3 (18:24):
If you're that it's right bored by the game itself.
Speaker 1 (18:27):
But I got to say that the NBA Finals and
really the NBA playoffs I think have been the best
playoffs I.
Speaker 3 (18:32):
Can remember in a long time.
Speaker 1 (18:34):
And you can get in on the betting action with

over unders, Billy, I saw it reminded me. I saw
this story this morning, and I got to get your
take on it, even though I just got to see
if you're right or wrong?
Speaker 2 (19:17):
Basically, Oh, did you see this?
Speaker 1 (19:19):
There is scientists have settled the over under on the
Great toilet paper debate?
Speaker 3 (19:25):
All right?
Speaker 1 (19:25):
Are you an over or an under guy? When it
comes to putting the toilet paper roll on the holder?
You know what I'm saying?
Speaker 3 (19:32):
Are you ok?
Speaker 1 (19:33):
Does the toilet paper come from the top or the bottom?
Because there's only one right answer.
Speaker 2 (19:37):
Well, see, I'm Beday living Shannon, So this is really
valid encounter. Say, I'm sorry, Billy, I forgot you.
Speaker 3 (19:44):
Shoot water in toilet paper?
Speaker 2 (19:47):
I think it's over though, Isn't it is that the answer?
Speaker 3 (19:50):
Yes, it is. It's the only correct answer.
Speaker 1 (19:53):
But according to scientists, Billy, they say, under all right,
this is this is a new study that came out
according to the science too. By the way, do we
have scientists to study toilet paper really? But they say
the under position is safer and more effective because the
over method requires a second hand to touch the role,
which raises the risk for contamination. I don't care what
(20:14):
science says over is the only answer. I don't want
to be sitting there trying to look up underneath of
a toilet paper roll, search and trying to find where
the tissue actually starts. It's one hundred percent over and
if you're doing it under, you're doing it wrong.
Speaker 3 (20:29):
I don't care what science.
Speaker 2 (20:30):
I just don't like the way it looks. If it's
under it's like dangling.
Speaker 1 (20:33):
Well yeah again, you got to like you got to
reach your hand up underneath there, like look and go, okay,
where where does it start and where does it end?
It's a whole mess. If it's on top, it's right there,
it's visible. That's why that's the right answer.
Speaker 2 (20:44):
Now, I'm with you. If I was in the TP life, Shannon,
you know, it's just been a completely different lifestyle for me.
Uh you know, you'd go to a public bathroom and
have the worst toilet paper possible or something like that.
Now I can't even go to the bathroom anywhere but home.
Speaker 1 (20:57):
Just send the word over or under to Billy five
O two two six five six six five six over
or under. I want to I want to take a
poll from the KSR appreciative but day you know, oh yeah,
or be day. I guess that's your third option. Or
you can send it to us on Twitter as well.
All right, before we go to break, let's go to
a call real quick. Let's go to John Short, Morning, John, Johnny.
Speaker 7 (21:18):
What's up morning?
Speaker 6 (21:20):
Everybody all America.
Speaker 3 (21:21):
You're a great American.
Speaker 2 (21:22):
What's up?
Speaker 6 (21:25):
Well? Wish Vince Mary Whale? But when we play little
we're gonna be gonna him easily.
Speaker 7 (21:29):
We're gonna be.
Speaker 6 (21:29):
About forty fifty bigans. But listen, do wish well? But man,
it's how you play. We're gonna beat him.
Speaker 3 (21:37):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (21:37):
But you don't wish them. You don't want them to
win a Louisville though, right, not like Billy. You don't
want you want them to lose at.
Speaker 7 (21:42):
Louisville, right, well, non losing listen to one losing?
Speaker 3 (21:46):
Yeah, Okay, okay, I just want to make you.
Speaker 6 (21:49):
Miss you miss well man, will here you can touchy? Yeah,
but but life goes on.
Speaker 2 (21:54):
That's right, that's right.
Speaker 6 (21:56):
What is going on now? Okay? The world he's we
know today at Murray State in Arkansas. I was willing
to stick with it. Half Beast commers. I like to
see Murray sip Lakey game, but police for Arkansas to
lean Well, you.
Speaker 2 (22:10):
Know you know what Arkansas to beat Murray State, do you?
Speaker 6 (22:12):
John well Sia smooth halfee says, didn't move one lousy
Saint U c l A and I I know the
sevenfog games. Yeah, yeah, Now we'll say that the hate
kist and Murray State man beating Murry saying much longer
because he's gone.
Speaker 3 (22:30):
That's right, Joe, I gotta let you go. We're up
against it.
Speaker 2 (22:32):
Thanks for calling a five, nine to twenty two eighty seven.
Speaker 3 (22:34):
We'll be right back.
Speaker 1 (22:35):
Wow, John Short, that's another long forgotten really good baseball
song by Alabama, the Cheap Seats.
Speaker 3 (22:42):
You ever heard this one? Billy, I have good stuff. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (22:45):
So the College World Series for Murray continues today at
two o'clock.
Speaker 3 (22:50):
They play Arkansas. That's gonna be a tough game.
Speaker 1 (22:52):
They lost their first game against the U c l
A six to four, uh over the weekend, and now
it's it's winner go Home for Murray State again. That's
two o'clock to day, an elimination game. I'll be watching
that one. Did you see the Lobio game yesterday at all?
Speaker 2 (23:07):
I tried not to watch the Louisville game, but it
sounds like you enjoyed it, Shannon.
Speaker 3 (23:11):
Well, I mean it was a good game.
Speaker 1 (23:12):
I mean, if you just I mean just looking at
it from the perspective of two teams playing baseball and
take the lovell out of it. But Lobull came back.
They were down three to one and then basically the
wheels just fell off for Arizona. It was like a
comedy of errors and just nothing went right for Arizona
in the eighth and Lobill came back and ends up
(23:33):
winning the game. But you know, it's one of those
like where you watching it going okay, Lobell just can't
score a run and then all of a sudden they
just break it open in the eighth and move on
to the next game. So it's winner go Home for
Lobill as well. But College World Series has been pretty
entertaining as well for those of you who have been
watching it.
Speaker 2 (23:48):
So yeah, I saw Dan McDonald had a pump up
speech for the Cards that helped. I turned on the
Murray State game late. They were down six to one
or six zero at that point and then started chipping away.
But now, like you said, winter or go home, and
they've got a tough opponent and John Schortz on the
other side of that.
Speaker 1 (24:05):
Yeah, I mean, I couldn't believe that before the break
John short when at Arkansas.
Speaker 2 (24:09):
Allegiance it dies see over schools.
Speaker 1 (24:13):
Look, I mean, I've pulled for the SEC most of
the time, but I do have you know, there are exceptions,
especially when you're playing a Kentucky school and a small
Kentucky school at that.
Speaker 2 (24:24):
I love.
Speaker 1 (24:24):
By the way, all the misconceptions that are going on
out there on social media about Murray State talking about
Skirka having to mow the lawn, and you know, he
came on here and had to dispel that rumor because
I keep seeing it pop up the Murray State coach has.
Speaker 3 (24:37):
To mow the lawn.
Speaker 1 (24:38):
It's like we already found out that's not even true.
Of course, if you're Mario and it's on Facebook, you'll
believe it.
Speaker 5 (24:44):
Though.
Speaker 1 (24:44):
Right while we're talking about baseball, I do want to
give a shout out to Nick Minion, and I know
it was a frustrating ending for the season for the Batcats.
But as of right now, Billy, he has the fourth
best recruiting class in America.
Speaker 3 (24:59):
Wow, that's pretty awesome.
Speaker 1 (25:01):
Right, I mean, competing against all these great schools from
the SEC. They're during the top twenty five all season
long and right now for next season even though it's
still early. Benji owned getting right to work and has
that number four recruiting class in college baseball.
Speaker 2 (25:15):
Well, you love to hear that he did such a
good job resetting from a year ago when his entire
starting lineup left him. Now you get it, guys like
Tyler Bell and Ryan Schwartz coming back. You've got Ben
Cleaver I think coming back as well. So I mean,
now you pair that with such a good recruiting class
and they're ready to go again. And that's what you
have to do to compete in the SEC, right, I mean,
the SEC baseball conference arguably better than it in football
(25:39):
and in basketball.
Speaker 1 (25:39):
So ay Top nine two eight twenty two eighty seven.
Bob and Jamestown, Hey, Bob, Bob, Well.
Speaker 7 (25:46):
What do you say, guys? You know, talking about the
bathroom paper issues. I got it a happy live, Happy live,
got one going up and one going down.
Speaker 8 (25:59):
So it depends on side by side, and.
Speaker 7 (26:04):
Got a urinal in there so she can keep the
lid down too. Got everything covered.
Speaker 3 (26:10):
All right, Bob.
Speaker 2 (26:11):
Is like a public restroom when you go into there's
a urinal, there's double toilet paper, one up, one down. Wow,
it's a fancy Yeah.
Speaker 7 (26:19):
Good talking to you guys. Good to subscribe.
Speaker 1 (26:22):
Thanks for coming to see the band. We appreciate that.
In Somerset, yeah, we get to see miss Miss Bob
and Jamestown as well, so that was cool. The response
is so far on Twitter and you said on on
the text line are over right?
Speaker 2 (26:37):
Yeah, it's for the toilet paper roll. It's over. There's
been two responses that have been under and then one
strange response on Twitter that one person said what did
he say?
Speaker 1 (26:48):
Said?
Speaker 3 (26:48):
I wonder if you have cats, and you said, you
can't wrap your brain around why that is?
Speaker 2 (26:53):
Yeah, isn't it obvious? I mean do they just like
roll it down?
Speaker 4 (26:56):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (26:56):
Because cats, you know, they want to pall at everything,
so they if you had it over, they would paw
out the toilet paper roll and just roll all your
toilet paper off the roll.
Speaker 2 (27:06):
Oh okay, see now it does make sense.
Speaker 5 (27:08):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (27:08):
I mean I've never had cats, but but I can
understand that.
Speaker 1 (27:12):
You know, I thought about you over the weekend US
Opens going on, as you know, you're the golfer. I'm
not a crazy finish a sixty four foot putt that
looked like it was way off but then curves around,
goes right into the cop It was pretty awesome.
Speaker 3 (27:27):
What was the guy's name, JJ Spond that won.
Speaker 2 (27:29):
JJ Spawn who bogeed five of his first six holes.
Speaker 3 (27:32):
Get this.
Speaker 2 (27:32):
On Father's Day. He was up at three in the
morning because his daughter had a stomach ache. He was
trying to get medicine for her at CVS at three
in the morning. That's where he plays the final round
of the US Open. He goes out there and wins it.
So a really good story to see JJ Spawn win.
But you know, a really difficult course and we saw
some frustrations from some players. I mean Wyndam Clark took
(27:55):
out some lockers in the locker room. He was so angry.
Rory McElroy was, you know, hitting tea markers and throwing
his clubs. Shannon the players were pissed.
Speaker 1 (28:05):
Yeah, I don't understand that. I never understood hitting and
punching like walls or a locker room. Like the wall
and locker room didn't do anything. Dude, maybe you should
be punching yourself. You're the one who's screwing up. It's
not the club spout. Why don't you hit it straight?
Speaker 2 (28:17):
And there's no place for that, especially like a historic
place like Oklaht and these nice locker rooms and Wyndham
is beating up lockers. I hated to see it.
Speaker 5 (28:26):
You know.
Speaker 2 (28:26):
There was a lot of rain and they went to
a rain delay at one point, and it probably because
of that. The best part of the day Sunday was
they played old Tiger Woods highlights during the rain. Delight Shannon.
It was just like old times to a degree. I
felt like that was probably maybe the best part of
the US Open this year. But a good story and
a hell of a last put by JJ Spond to
win it.
Speaker 3 (28:45):
Let's go to Logan. Hey Logan, what's up?
Speaker 9 (28:49):
Hey, guys, hope you're doing good. Hate to beat a
dead horse, but I just do just have a couple
of things about in the whole ventorneel. First off, you know,
I love Vince, He's done good for us, but I
feel like as far as what he can do, his results,
his prime, I feel like a lot of that's passed.
I don't know if it was mad or someone else
(29:09):
brought up how Nil kind of changes the way that
he is valuable, Not to say that he's not, but
I don't think Louisville's going to get in the same
returns on Vince that Kentucky did say, you know, six
seven years ago, you know next, I don't care who
they get on their roster, you know what goes on
with Louisville. I think that Louisville and Kentucky both have
(29:30):
the same chance of winning a title, which is zero percent.
Louisville may get there because of a weak acc but
I just don't think that they could ever stack up
against the big ten in the SEC, those powerhouse schools.
Speaker 3 (29:42):
That's yeah, that's the thing.
Speaker 1 (29:43):
When you talk about success and how do you measure success,
you mis measure it and wins.
Speaker 3 (29:49):
Is Vince going to get more wins at Louisville? Of
course he is.
Speaker 2 (29:52):
You know why he's not playing in the SEC.
Speaker 1 (29:54):
He's not going up against Tennessee and Georgia and I
Alabama and Auburn and all these teams in the SEC.
Speaker 2 (30:00):
Of course he's going to succeed there.
Speaker 1 (30:01):
Louisville is a good program, but let's not act like
they're playing the murderer's row of schedule like Kentucky is
every year.
Speaker 3 (30:09):
Next week, call Logan, we appreciate it.
Speaker 2 (30:11):
Yeah, and Logan's right. I mean, you know, with the scheduled,
Louisville will have a better opportunity than Kentucky to make
the College Football Playoff. And heck, I mean TCU made
the National Championship a couple years ago, so I mean
it's possible for a middle team, middle of the road
team or school to make it. But you know, in
the nil world, I think, you know, while we've seen
(30:32):
parody in the Diego Pavia's makes teams like Vanderbilt have
better seasons, it also makes the top of the top
even better. I mean, did they pay twenty million for
Ohio State's roster last year? And I mean they're going
to do that every single year, right, And you don't
think Texas isn't going to do the same. You know,
there is you know, caps coming. I guess essentially when
it comes to what athletic departments can pay out. But
(30:54):
you know, you got to think that there's always going
to be an advantage with these bigger schools, even though
Louisville has a path maybe a little bit more clear
than Kentucky.
Speaker 1 (31:02):
And yeah, as the college football playoffs continue to expand,
who has a better chance of making the college football playoffs?
Of course it's Louisville just based on record alone, right right,
Definitely not strength of schedule or quality of wins.
Speaker 2 (31:17):
But well, and that's the argument for taking away the
Louisville game when you go to nine conference games, because
you simply it's tough to win that many games. I
would still hate to see.
Speaker 1 (31:26):
That follow up from Friday, speaking of Louisville, the semi
truck driver that was hanging off the side of the bridge.
Speaker 3 (31:32):
Did you see the pictures of that.
Speaker 1 (31:33):
I mean, not only was the semi truck hanging off
the side of the bridge, it was on fire. It's
like we keep going up one level every time we
have a semi truck hanging off the bridge. It's not
just good enough for the bridge to have a semi
truck hanging off of it. Now we've got to add
fire to it and luckily though, I saw on the
morning news that the driver only had a broken ankle
(31:55):
and some scrapes on his arm. You tell me, you're
driving a semi truck, you go off the side of
a bridge, it catches on fire, and you escape with
a broken ankle and a couple of scrapes. You're the
luckiest man on earth. I mean, that could have ended
badly in so many ways. You could have burned up,
you could have fallen off the edge of the bridge.
And he escapes with just minor injuries. So that was
(32:17):
a miracle.
Speaker 2 (32:18):
That's amazing to hear that. He's that they are okay.
That's now three truck wrecks in the last eighteen months.
What is here in the city of Louisville now the
Clark Memorial Bridge one. You know, we saw the footage
of that. That seemed like a freak accident, right, that
pushed the female truck driver off the edge. But these
last two, like, what's the issue? Like, do you think
people are just distracted by their phones? They get going
(32:39):
with a little bit too much momentum shinning. It's it's
impossible for us to tell you the reason why these
trucks crash. But if we're going to see it this frequently,
I mean, spaghetti junction may need to change a little
bit if that's the case.
Speaker 3 (32:50):
Yeah, I don't know.
Speaker 1 (32:52):
I mean we could speculate and say it's just people
being distracted.
Speaker 2 (32:55):
Which likely do you think they reduced the speed limit
maybe to try to comeback that you can't you can't
have three and eighteen months.
Speaker 3 (33:03):
Yeah, I mean, I don't.
Speaker 1 (33:05):
I don't know that it's actually going to stop people,
and you can. You can try to do it by
lowering the speed limit, But when's that ever stopped anybody
from breaking the speed limit?
Speaker 3 (33:12):
Who dropped the speed limit?
Speaker 2 (33:14):
Well, that's what I was gonna say. I think most
people probably are five to ten miles per hour over
the speed limit when they're on the end. We maybe
build up a higher wall. I don't know, I'm just spitballing.
Speaker 3 (33:25):
Build that wall. If you're going over.
Speaker 2 (33:28):
Top of the I couldn't tell did he go through
the wall or over top of it.
Speaker 1 (33:32):
I'm just saying if we build the wall a little higher,
maybe there would be a less likely chance for the
thing to go over top of it.
Speaker 3 (33:38):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (33:39):
I'm not an archite. I'm not a scientist that I'm
not an architect.
Speaker 2 (33:42):
Stop driving. I want public transportations.
Speaker 1 (33:45):
Trying to use some common sense. Buckle up, put your
phone down. Pet peanuts, Yeah, peanuts on that zero return.
Speaker 3 (33:53):
I said, yeah, what's up, peanut?
Speaker 4 (33:58):
Yeah, well, the tolet paper is I don't do either,
bore down.
Speaker 6 (34:05):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (34:06):
Since I about built my ass four years ago, I
never installed a toilet paper roll thing. So uh, I
just bought them towers and about four rolls in it.
Speaker 2 (34:16):
So you okay, so you just sit up there, just hitt.
He sets it vertically.
Speaker 4 (34:21):
Then I guess, yeah, it's on its side.
Speaker 3 (34:25):
So yeah, okay, Well then you don't get the man.
Speaker 1 (34:29):
You're a man, all right. I didn't consider the fourth option.
All right, what else you got, peanut?
Speaker 4 (34:36):
All right?
Speaker 2 (34:38):
All right, there you go. That's you know, just wanted
just to know there was a fourth option for your
toilet paper roll.
Speaker 1 (34:43):
I guess, uh says if you want, Billy, what's stranger
speaking of? We were talking about golf a minute ago.
What stranger me getting four money sent to me uh
at my house for the last five years, or Scottie
Scheffler saying that he's getting venmo request from fans when
he's not uh, hitting people's bets on DraftKings.
Speaker 2 (35:02):
Did you see this?
Speaker 3 (35:03):
I did.
Speaker 2 (35:04):
Unfortunately, I think this is much more common than we think,
the abuse of athletes by gamblers or stupid teenagers, people
that don't get it. Shannon, I cannot believe that you
can go after athletes in today and age. I mean,
I guess I can believe it, and it's happened all
even when athletes didn't have cell phones and social media.
(35:24):
But how much of a low life do you have
to be to be going after somebody like that? I
hate to hear that.
Speaker 1 (35:29):
I'm just trying to figure. I guess it just leaks out.
Somebody gets Scotty Scheffler's Venmo and then it just goes
out there. Or can you just get on venmo and
type in Scotty Shuffler and then it just pops up.
Speaker 3 (35:38):
I would think it.
Speaker 1 (35:38):
Would be private. It had to have leaked out from
friends or from somewhere.
Speaker 2 (35:42):
Yeah, I'm not sure, you know. Venmo is a very
public thing, right, They have an option that you can
it can you can reveal the description of your payment
to everybody. It's like a feed, right, social feed like Facebook.
So it is a little odd. I'm not sure if
it was. If you can make your account private or
not get on here right now, I guess that's like
you didn't didn't hit my bet, let me request twenty
(36:04):
dollars here, he.
Speaker 1 (36:05):
Is here, he is Here's the thing has no friend,
So I'm I'm hesitant to say this is probably somebody
that just created a Scotty Shuffler venmo. But it pops
up there and it is a picture of Scotty Shuffler.
But I'm not with his kid too. I'm not convinced
that is the real Scotty Shuffler. I think that's probably
somebody who saw the same story that we're talking about,
(36:26):
created a venmo named it Scotty Shuffler, and now people
are sending money to that Scotty Shuffler.
Speaker 2 (36:31):
So well, I doubt they're sending any money. They're probably
just requesting money because I mean, well, no, he said
he was getting money sent to him too, like tell
people were sending him. People that were winning the bets
were like sending tips to him, like hey, Scotty, good job.
Speaker 1 (36:44):
Here, here's fifty bucks or whatever. Not the Scotty Scheffler
needs more money. But then there were like you said,
people that were requesting money from them too.
Speaker 2 (36:51):
So well, well, if you're generous and would like tip
this morning at Billy Dash Rutledge Dash one on Venmo,
I am the haybel toss champion, if he wanted to
give me an.
Speaker 1 (37:00):
Remember we mentioned this before and more people sent money
to my Venmo than you're a Venmo, and I do
remember you got really upset about it. So eight five nine,
twenty two eighty seven.
Speaker 2 (37:09):
Money. You don't have to send us any money our day.
This is a this is a free service, this is
a free show. I'll send us a tip.
Speaker 1 (37:17):
Yeah, you to start putting my tip jar outside the
studio and see them at remote remote That's right, hey,
bands do it everybody, you know. I go through the
self scan and the person watching me scan my stuff
that I'm buying.
Speaker 2 (37:30):
What's a tip? Tip?
Speaker 1 (37:32):
Cultures out of control? That's another story for another day.
Eight five nine, twenty two eighty seven. Final segment coming
up next on the KSR pre show.
Speaker 3 (37:41):
Welcome Back.
Speaker 1 (37:41):
It is the final segment KSR pre show Billy do
you remember the uh the guy that created that claustrophobic
submarine and was taking billionaires down to see the remains
of the Titanic.
Speaker 2 (37:52):
Yeah, it was like an Xbox controller.
Speaker 3 (37:54):
They were contract Yeah yet out that's the thing.
Speaker 1 (37:57):
Well, you know, even if I got the money to
go do something like this, I probably he wouldn't want
to go do it because I don't really care to
see the Titanic and a bunch of remains from a boat. Secondly,
I might have a little you know, I may have
a question or two about somebody who's got an Xbox
controller controlling a submarine like that. Doesn't look legit anyway.
(38:19):
Have you seen the new documentary on this on Netflix.
I haven't seen it.
Speaker 2 (38:23):
Oh, there's already a dock on the whole situation. Yeah, okay, good,
I'll check that out for sure. Have you seen it?
Speaker 4 (38:28):
No?
Speaker 1 (38:28):
No, But I want to watch it. I've got that
on the list. So maybe I'll watch it at some
point this week and we can talk about it. But
I was playing Pearl Jam because there was a story
that came out that said that the CEO actually wanted
to take Pearl Jam on that trip in that submarine.
Speaker 2 (38:44):
Down to see the Titanic.
Speaker 1 (38:45):
And I'm glad that the band declined, because I mean,
could you imagine that the CEO took Pearl jam from
the world or the stupid submarine would be awful. I mean,
you know, he could at least have offered that to
Nickelbacker somebody instead.
Speaker 2 (38:59):
But this is like the cheap version. It was the
TMU version of the submarine. You know, we see these
celebrities already going up in the space. Give it another decade, Shannon,
we'll see some people going back to the Titanic.
Speaker 1 (39:10):
I have simple desire to go see a wrecked ship
or to go into outer space, doesn't matter if I
had billions of dollars, still not.
Speaker 3 (39:18):
Going to go do it.
Speaker 2 (39:19):
So but yeah, we'll watch that on Netflix.
Speaker 1 (39:21):
Also saw, speaking of Netflix, Squid Game, did you ever
watch the new Ones?
Speaker 7 (39:27):
Coming out?
Speaker 2 (39:27):
Season threes coming out in like ten days, so.
Speaker 3 (39:30):
We'll have that to time.
Speaker 2 (39:30):
Oh that's soon, ten days. Shout out to Cliff and
Tim who have sent Venmos.
Speaker 3 (39:37):
Billy Venmos. He doesn't need your tips.
Speaker 2 (39:40):
Oh I do. And Shannon's like, you got to split
your tips. Yeah, during the break works you ain't getting
any of them.
Speaker 1 (39:45):
You've worked at a restaurant before, right, I thought you
said you had, No, you never have. I sometimes you
got to split your tips.
Speaker 3 (39:53):
That's just how it works.
Speaker 1 (39:54):
Like you know, when you're in a band together and
you're playing, you make money, you got to split your tips.
Speaker 3 (39:58):
That's how it works.
Speaker 2 (39:59):
Let's go to the tucky Joe. What's up, Joe? Hey Joe.
Speaker 8 (40:03):
I was just, uh, I'm gonna wish you all a
happy summer because I think I think it happens on Friday.
Speaker 3 (40:10):
You think what happens on Friday, summer?
Speaker 8 (40:13):
Summer, Summer comes ime in the morning.
Speaker 4 (40:15):
I think you come.
Speaker 3 (40:17):
Yeah, summer happens on Friday.
Speaker 8 (40:19):
Okay, Yeah, I'm gonna say I'm not afraid. I'm talking
about the Hall of Paper. I am deadly an over
