Speaker 5 (00:36):
Welcome to the show. Wow, I tell you what. It
has been crazy up and down for four weeks now
with your Pittsburgh Steelers.
Speaker 6 (00:51):
Losing games to teams you should beat, beating teams you
should beat, Jets, Jets, Jets, Giants, Giants, Giants. Question mark
is what you need to do? You need to be
able to beat the teams you're supposed to beat. Mike
(01:12):
Tomlin has a certifiable Bona Fide grade A A plus
rating at dumping games two teams he should beat, notably
in the playoffs, notably the Cleveland Clowns coming in.
Speaker 5 (01:32):
Here or several years ago.
Speaker 6 (01:37):
And you're Pittsburgh Steelers, after going eleven to oher in
the regular season and looking like.
Speaker 5 (01:43):
We're we goes D's going to super Bowl. Dump it
to the Clowns.
Speaker 6 (01:51):
Don't even get me started on Leonard Fernette and Blanka
blord Onals. You remember the quarterback for the Lecksonville Kitty Cats,
Black border rules home game AFC playoffs. Jacksonville Kittycats come
in here with big border rules, a.
Speaker 5 (02:13):
Quarterback who throws for one hundred and one.
Speaker 6 (02:15):
Yards and leads his team to victory over your Pittsburgh Steelers,
who again, we.
Speaker 7 (02:21):
Were all certain that Pittsburgh's going to the super Bowl.
Got I feel in Pittsburgh's going to the super Bowl.
Speaker 6 (02:32):
Nope, scratch both of those, let alone regular season, in
season dump games.
Speaker 5 (02:41):
That of Mike Tomlin coach team has delivered to you,
the Steelers fan. So do not begin licking your chop
chops and going at Monday Night football at Mike Domin.
He ain't lose no games on Monday night football.
Speaker 6 (03:00):
In factor, Dad Howard Cosell was still around, he'd be saying,
they built Monday night Football for Mike Domlin.
Speaker 5 (03:09):
Maybe Tomlin's record on Monday Night Football, well it's pretty good.
Speaker 6 (03:18):
It is as if Tomlin and his massive ego, yeah
I said it would Someone like to argue with me
that he is not an ego maniac and full of himself.
He loves the Monday night stage. Obviously, his record is
three defeats and twenty victories for your Pittsburgh Steelers. No
(03:44):
dumping Monday night games from Mike Tomlin.
Speaker 5 (03:48):
Why would he? Why would he?
Speaker 6 (03:51):
I mean, the whole world is focused on Monday night football,
even though Howard Kosel God Rest, his soul is not there.
Like Tomlin does not let down on Monday night football,
because well, he is the center of the universe. We
will get seventy eight Cup two shots of Mike Tomlin,
and the national sportscasters will tell us ad nauseum repeatedly,
(04:18):
over and over, like your grandmother banging you in the
head with.
Speaker 5 (04:22):
A skillet because you ate your dessert first. Again, of
course it's on grandma.
Speaker 6 (04:29):
She keeps putting out the cherry pie alongside your dinner,
and of course you're an eight year old kid.
Speaker 5 (04:36):
You can eat your cherry pie first.
Speaker 6 (04:40):
The national media loves to tell us how Mike Tomlin
is a genius and the greatest coach ever, and how
we in Black and Gold Nation need to well give
our left.
Speaker 5 (04:52):
Kidney if need be. If Mike Tomlin says I need
a left.
Speaker 6 (04:55):
Kidney, the line should be hundreds of millions of Americans.
International football fans willing to give up their left kidney
so Mike Domlin can continue with his incredible mediocre performance. Anyway,

Speaker 8 (07:03):
Set.
Speaker 5 (07:03):
You know, say Tank, you're an idiot. You don't know
what you're talking about.
Speaker 6 (07:06):
Broderick Jones's destined for the Hall of Fame, so we're
really excited about that. I want to say also that
you know a lot of work goes into television.
Speaker 5 (07:19):
It really does. Uh, it just doesn't happen by magic.
Speaker 6 (07:23):
You know some of you young kids out there that
thinks electricity just comes through a wall for free. In
some magic elf and a unicorn make electricity and power
that makes the country go.
Speaker 9 (07:34):
No, no, no, no.
Speaker 5 (07:35):
Note, there ain't no lepre Con and Unicorn here.
Speaker 6 (07:38):
It takes a whole team. We got our relationship with
Point Park College. Hey, look, if you've got students in
high school that are looking to get into broadcasting, you
want to explore Point Park College in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Uh,
They've got an incredible, incredible program. One of my good
(08:01):
friends from high school, Ed Waggle, went to Point Park and.
Speaker 5 (08:05):
Said, a tremendous career.
Speaker 6 (08:06):
You do not know Ed's face, I promise you, but
you have heard Ed's voice for ads during the Super Bowl.
Speaker 10 (08:15):
You have heard Ed's voice for ads for Fox with
Daytona five hundred and ABC with the Indianapolis five hundred. Yeah,
that's my good friend Ed Waggle.
Speaker 6 (08:30):
It's funny Ed Ed had that broadcaster's voice in tenth grade. Hello,
I'm Ed Waggle, and you're like, this guy got a
tape recorder in his throat. But it takes a lot
of effort to put everything on.
Speaker 11 (08:44):
We do here.
Speaker 6 (08:45):
Let's talk stealers in our I think this is our
seventh or eighth year for radio and now TV with
twenty two to the point and we've got some great
interns from Point Park College, Peyton and Nate helping. Of course,
it all goes because of a great sponsors, Italian Village Pizza.
Italian Village Pizza. Italian Village Pizza. You gotta call them,
(09:09):
You gotta call them. You got to come to their restaurant.
We're oute twenty eight Waterworks Small Tuesday nights, Mike and
I'll be filming Let's Talk Stealers television show.
Speaker 5 (09:21):
You can come ask questions of the pro quarterback.
Speaker 6 (09:25):
I played left bench at pitt I don't know what
help that could be to you at all. I can
tell you how to drink Coca Cola and ask the
mascot to get out of the way because so you
can watch the guys playing the game on the field
question and answer period. We've got a trivia questions where
you'll win gift certificates to Italian Village Pizza.
Speaker 5 (09:49):
Come on down.
Speaker 6 (09:50):
It's a very interactive show. Throw a piece of wooly
salmon at me. If you want, throw a lobster, Yeah,
do that, That's what I want you to do.
Speaker 5 (09:58):
Go to Holies, get a lobster and throw them at me.
Speaker 6 (10:02):
I will have the interns from Point Park collect them
and I will eat wet that weekend. And of course
we can't thank enough the guys who make parking chev vodka.
Speaker 5 (10:14):
It had a great name for a vodka. There's a
word colloquialism that means, you know, like we speak yinzer
in Pittsburgh. That's our local colloquialisms.
Speaker 6 (10:28):
Down south, they go, you know, how yell do and
you know with the yawls down south where we speak
unzer here, that's a colloquialism. And the good folks at
Lawrenceville Distilling Company, Jodah Grout and his brothers have really crafted,
hand crafted some wonderful, wonderful spirits and they've named them
(10:51):
with Pittsburgh, you know, colloquialisms like parking chair vodka. Who
didn't put a parking chair out to save their space
in front of their house over the air in Homestead,
you know, or Greensburg, even our Latrobe where you're from,
And I'm sure down in Stubenville, un Wheeling to this
day people still save their parking spot in front of
(11:12):
their house with a parking chair. Well that's the people
at Lawrenceville iss Stilling who make Parking Chair Vodka, some
other great gins, aer Gin. They've got an abstininth, the
line of Scrimmage. Joe DeGroot, one of the owners down
there at Lawrenceville Distilling, crafted a wonderful drink just for
(11:32):
our Let's Talk Stealers TV show. I guess I could
drink it on the radio.
Speaker 5 (11:36):
You guys want here?
Speaker 6 (11:37):
Waitmen, waitmen, No, that wasn't a line of Scrimmage. That
was a Booblez or Lafroy water or something. But I
have had the Line of Scrimmage drink and is an
excellent Check them out at Lawrenceville Distilling. Also, their news
(11:58):
store is coming real soon around Christmas time. And I
can't also thank enough for our newest sponsor, Red Fox
Winery and Lounge, just a little bit south of Pittsburgh.
If you guys know where Hickory, PA Is, it's around
that area out in the countryside. Beautiful, beautiful country setting.
(12:22):
The whole interior is made out of beautiful oak wood,
varnished woods, kind of like a high class barn, something
the Melons who owned Melon Bank would own if they
owned a stable for their horses. It would be all
polished and beautiful and spectacular and you could eat in it.
(12:47):
I just can't say enough about Red Fox Winery. It's
really special. They do weddings there, they do corporate events there.
We were just there here in a lie sing a
couple of weeks ago. Really great local singer. They have
entertainment on the weekends and especially in this fall season.
(13:07):
The pumpkins and the trees and everything.
Speaker 5 (13:10):
It's just beautiful.
Speaker 6 (13:11):
So can't do let's talk Steelers without our great sponsors
and the guys at Point Park College and everybody that's
involved in the twenty twenty four campaign. All right, back
to your Pittsburgh Steelers. I want to talk a little
bit about your upcoming opponent before we review the last
(13:31):
game over the J. E. T.
Speaker 5 (13:33):
SSTs and I.
Speaker 6 (13:36):
Started out this segment about talking that Mike Domlin and
the Steelers have dumped some games they've meant and should
have won throughout the years. Now, when you look at
this Giants team on paper, yes, say to yourself, we
(13:58):
should have no fun problem. We should be having lots
of fun because when a two to five team comes
to Pittsburgh, we should be well, you know, ready to
rock and roll.
Speaker 5 (14:14):
That's what scares me. But when you look at the opponents.
First of all, here's the deal.
Speaker 6 (14:20):
The Giants are only averaging fourteen points a game, thirtieth
in the league, only thirty two teams.
Speaker 5 (14:30):
In case you didn't know that, ain't real good. Ain't
real good.
Speaker 6 (14:37):
You're Pittsburgh Steelers defense ranked second in the league, allowing
only fourteen point three points a game, and that's been
against some healthy offenses. Anyway, let's get back to the
Giants' schedule and what they've done so far before I
(14:57):
start pontificating on what could happen up this weekend here
in Pittsburgh. So and I think this is important to
look at the caliber of opponents that the Giants basically
have lost to. They've got five losses to wins. The
Vikings are a team on the rise. Did you catch
that game last week? Vikings versus the Lions?
Speaker 5 (15:22):
Wow?
Speaker 6 (15:23):
Came down to the last second kick by number thirty
nine if you Detroit.
Speaker 5 (15:26):
Lions with that field goal.
Speaker 6 (15:29):
The Vikings put up twenty eight points, Giants six. I
view the best version of the Steelers right now. Best
version that's the version against the Jets. Very similar to
this Vikings team, very similar. The Giants then went on
(15:49):
and lost to the Washington team football team in a
close matchup. Now, look, Washington's not set in the world
on fire. Team giantsen took on the Browns where they
got their one victory against Well, the Browns really stink
this year. Twenty one points they manage against the Browns,
(16:11):
but they won a game. Now, the Giants lost to
one of their longtime foes, the Cowboys, another declining team,
twenty to fifteen. Okay, so the Cowboys put up twenty points,
the Browns fifteen points, the Commander's twenty one points. See
(16:33):
where I'm going with this. If this offense for your
Steelers starts humming come Monday night, and if the number
two defense points allowed fourteen rears their ugly head and
rips people's heads off, Giants ain't going nowhere.
Speaker 5 (16:55):
Although the Giants did get their.
Speaker 6 (16:57):
Second win against the Sea Chickens out there twenty nine
to twenty. Then the Bengals don't underestimate the Bengals this season, don't.
They got a player named Joe Burrows. Okay, if you
think the Bengals are out.
Speaker 5 (17:11):
Of this thing, you're out of your mind, all right.
That is the first segment of Let Stock Steelers. I'm
your host, Tank Tantlinger. We'll be back.
Speaker 6 (17:19):
We're gonna follow up on this Giants. We're gonna talk
about the Jets game. We're gonna talk about a subject
that's well, it's really irking a lot of people. Proderick Jones.
Speaker 5 (17:31):
All right, we'll be right back to let's ducks this. Yeah,
I mean he does both.
Speaker 12 (17:36):
I mean his forty times crazy for the linebacker and
just the way he plays with just like I said,
and the more reps he gets and the more action
he gets, he's he's just gonna get play faster and
faster because he's gonna go to see things faster. And
so like I said, I'm excited to see him bro,
excited to make it.
Speaker 5 (17:51):
Through physically and confidence is playing it one game.
Speaker 12 (17:54):
Yeah, definitely not feeling I made it through through well.
Definitely pretty sore for not playing for a few weeks,
but it just like I said, I feel I f
I feel really good. And it wasn't more of a
limited snap count this past week, but I feel like
I'm you know, getting really really really close to one
hundred percent. So just feels great to be back out there,
be with the guys, you know, being injured sucks, and
(18:15):
so just being back out there with the guys and
what a game to come back to Sunday night prime
time was just awesome. So just looking forward to just
getting better every week and so just continue to rehab
and continue to stay on top of it so that
nothing else happens.
Speaker 6 (18:27):
Break down to the half time, like when you guys
are able to take the Yeah, like you just sitting
up this week too, you put some notes up like
I was at the work.
Speaker 12 (18:36):
Yeah, I mean we just you know, you know, go
over some stuff and those some notes wise and then
the w when there's when we're trying to make adjustments,
we look at what they've what they beat us with,
and so those are we just trying to lock in
on a few things and stuff like that. And ultimately
we just played fast and executing the second half and
just be able to hold those guys to a shout out.
Speaker 4 (18:55):
It was huge for us.
Speaker 12 (18:56):
And so but I think the main thing for us
coming up this week is we just gotta start fast.
You know, I think those two.
Speaker 11 (19:04):
We're from that time with im drank football Tea.
Speaker 5 (19:09):
Here that is first Steelers.
Speaker 1 (19:13):
Chuck and Donkey's friends out all them that be no
why yet the Steelers brot Saw and Rockie and Fan
and Lee.
Speaker 5 (19:25):
We love your Pitts.
Speaker 3 (19:26):
First Steelers many years income.
Speaker 5 (19:31):
Hey, welcome back to Let's Talk Stealers. I'm your host,
Tank Tantlinger.
Speaker 6 (19:36):

Speaker 6 (19:46):
Really excited are Let's Talk Stealers Let's Talk Steelers TV show? Yeah,
and I ain't talking no public access twenty two to
the point out of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Sunday's at ten thirty.
Speaker 5 (20:03):
Starting November ninth. Yeah, that's the Commander's Game. Yep. That's
when we go on air.
Speaker 6 (20:08):

he is Mike McMahon, the former NFL quarterback, And together
we make up the team known as Let's Talk Stealers.
Really excited about that? Tune into the show on twenty
two to the point, it's going to be very exciting.
If you're in the Pittsburgh area, go to our Facebook
(20:28):
page and YouTube page. First of all, do that one
lucky winner. If you like our Facebook page or YouTube page.
Got to do both is going to win a Mike
Webster jersey. Yep, I said it a Mike Webster jersey.
So go to Facebook YouTube. Let's talk stealers, stil hyphen
(20:49):
r s stellers.
Speaker 5 (20:50):
Like a grandpa used to say, twenty two to the point, Sunday's.
Speaker 6 (20:56):
At ten thirty in the morning, before you go to
the Gay Haim, you can listen to Tank and Mike.
All right, let's get back to this New York Giants
team talked about in the first segment.
Speaker 5 (21:09):
How your Pittsburgh Steelers under the doodle ledge. There's a
word for you. Under the doodle age of Mike Dumlin.
Speaker 6 (21:18):
Have dumped some games that they should have won in
the three hundred and forty two years that Mike Tomlin
has been here, notably the playoff losses to the Browns
and the Jaguars, two teams the Steelers should have have
vicerated on paper, and they dumped the games. Mike Tomlin
dumps games to inferior teams all the time throughout his
(21:39):
seventeen years. The Giants of New York City come in
here at two and five. Although I do not see
Tomlin dropping this game on a Monday night game he
is twenty and three on Monday nights, he likes the
national spotlight. Monday Night Football loves him. We will see
(22:02):
more images of Mike Tomlin than I care to see
in six years in one evening. We all here in
Pittsburgh know what the national media does with Mike Tomlin.
You know, they just you know, the second coming of
In fact, they have suggested a few of them that
we remove Lombardi's name from that coveted trophy and we
(22:28):
put on Tomlin's. No, I'm just joking, but there are
people out there. I bet you ten bucks. I bet
you one million dollars elon Musk, since you're throwing around millions,
that I can find one person that would say, yeah,
I would take Lombardi's name off and put Mike Tomlins
drove me on there. Please million bucks for Tank. That's
(22:54):
easy pickings. I don't expect the Steelers to win, and
we're gonna get in to that a little bit in
this segment.
Speaker 5 (23:02):
What the game looks like.
Speaker 6 (23:03):
Then a third segment, we're going to talk about problematic
players in Broderick Jones and George Pickens. You're listening to
Let's talk Steelers. I'm your host tank Tamtlinger again. Check
us out on Facebook YouTube Let's talk Steelers.
Speaker 5 (23:18):
Like both pages and.
Speaker 6 (23:20):
You'll be entered to win a Mike Webster jersey here
in twenty twenty four. All right, back to analyzing the
Giants' performance up to this point. Look, they've got they're
two in five when they've played good football teams.
Speaker 5 (23:42):
The Eagles put up twenty eight points and kept them
to three.
Speaker 6 (23:47):
Last week when they played the Vikings, they lost twenty
eight to six. Okay, when they've played subpar teams like themselves,
they've been in the game Commanders twenty one, Giants eighteen,
Giants twenty one, the Clowns fifteen, the Cowgirls twenty, Giants fifteen.
(24:15):
But when they've met good football teams they have faltered significantly.
Speaker 5 (24:21):
The Bengals seventeen to seven. Don't sleep on the Bengals, men,
Eagles twenty eight points. Last week they put up the
Giants three, the Vikings twenty eight to six.
Speaker 6 (24:32):
So on paper, as we go into the Monday night matchup,
who doesn't love Monday night football, man, your Steelers should
win heartily. I mean, we put up thirty seven points
against the Jets last week. That's the first time since
twenty twenty one that the Steelers have put up that
(24:54):
hive of a point total, and it was thirty seven
points they put up in twenty twenty one. Coincidentally, if
anybody's keeping score, Arthur Smith now has two games of
four hundred yards plus of offense. Met Canada, dry up
and send me home. In the three seasons Matt Canada
(25:16):
was here, he never produced one game of four hundred yards.
You gotta admit it, Steelers Nation. This Arthur Smith's offense.
I don't know if it's a Super Bowl offense, but
it's much better than Matt Canada's offense.
Speaker 5 (25:31):
For darn shore. So as you look at this Bengals
team coming in here.
Speaker 6 (25:38):
This is what the old Tanker sees as far as well,
really the relevant topics that are on the table for
the Giants. So the Giants at two and five come
in here, they're only putting up fourteen points averaging a game.
Speaker 5 (26:04):
This Steelers defense.
Speaker 6 (26:05):
Is only allowing fourteen points a game. I don't see
the Giants putting up more than ten points.
Speaker 5 (26:12):
Ain't gonna happen.
Speaker 6 (26:14):
Ain't gonna happen if that defense performs like it did
last week. You know the Giants quarterback Daniel Jones. Yes,
you know Daniel Jones. He's one of the Yeah right,
who what Daniel Jones ain't never heard of them?
Speaker 5 (26:31):
Tank? Well, he ain't gonna be heard of long. This
is the NFL, not for long league.
Speaker 6 (26:37):
He got pulled against the Eagles last week in a
fourth quarter for Drew Luck. Head coach dabble up there
made no qualms in pulling the Giants starting quarterback Daniel
Jones against the Eagles. So if you think there's any
kind of disarray going on at our quarterback situation, the
(26:58):
Giants really out of situation going on up there. The
confidence has to be wrecked for Daniel Jones, the Giants
starting quarterback coming into this game against the Steelers. If
he's watching tape right now and he's looking at Cam
Hayward flying up the middle and Superman from Pranet Clipton
(27:24):
known as TJ. Watt coming off that edge, punching balls
out of running back's hands, eating quarterbacks like a jaguar
eats chickens one at a time, six at a time,
and just inhaling them. Young Daniel Jones has to be
I mean, unless he's stupid, he's got to be afraid.
Speaker 5 (27:43):
They you know, they say in the army. You know,
when you go through airborne school, they say, you.
Speaker 6 (27:48):
Know, if you're not afraid to jump out of this
plane for the first time, there's something wrong with you,
and you got mental problems.
Speaker 5 (27:55):
You've got to be scared.
Speaker 6 (27:57):
Well, if Daniel Jones is not afraid of what's about
to happen to him here in Pittsburgh on Monday night
with that defense let.
Speaker 5 (28:05):
Alone Patrick Queen, Eldon Roberts.
Speaker 6 (28:11):
And the rookie Peyton Wilson, then he's got a screw
loose with him.
Speaker 5 (28:18):
I'd be terrified.
Speaker 6 (28:20):
Then you look at players on the rise, players on
the rise with Loudermolk and a couple of the other
defensive linemen. And here's the worst part. Here is the
worst part for young Giants quarterback Daniel Jones. The left
(28:43):
tackle position. I called to Joe Thaisman, if you remember
what happened to him, is very important. The blind side
left tackle Dan Moore is doing a solid job for
your Steelers. By the way, Andrew Thomas was the starting
left tackle four the New York Giants.
Speaker 5 (29:02):
He went down.
Speaker 6 (29:05):
If I'm saying his name right, Joshua ez do eddie
do easy you e du you pronounce it on the run.
Third year man Joshua ezdu Uh is struggling, strugggling big
time at left tackle. You got a situation where Alex
(29:31):
Highsmith is back. Baby, the boys are back in town
with Alex high Smith. You have a situation. And look,
I know you know this, especially last weekend, the Jets
were double and triple teaman t J. Watt at times
they really were. So look, I know you all have
(29:54):
been versed in the fact that and Bud Dupree is
a great example that. And I unlike to Bud when
he was here, he was a very sociable.
Speaker 5 (30:04):
Player.
Speaker 6 (30:05):
He loved and appreciated the fact that he got to
play professional football.
Speaker 5 (30:11):
There was no ego about Bud Dupree. He'd sign any autograph.
He was a nice guy.
Speaker 6 (30:16):
Really hated to see him, but he went to Tennessee
and he got paid. And that's why you play professional sports.
I know you all know this that when like the
Jets and like the Giants, will have to do to
double team TJ. Watt, to triple team him, to chip
(30:37):
him with a running back, to be an annoyance to
slow him down, freeze up, whether it's herbig when he
comes back, or Alex Highsmith on the other side, and
it does make them shine like it did for Bud Dupree.
But what you saw last week with Tarot Austin's offense
(31:01):
starting to happen. One of my all time favorite coaches
in Pittsburgh history, one of the recognized nationally as one
of the very best defensive minds of all time, was
Dick lebou.
Speaker 4 (31:15):
He gave you Blitzburg. Blitzberg, right, that's Steelers football. Blitzburg,
that's Steelers defense.
Speaker 6 (31:28):
Terror Austin, who I played football with a pitt He's
been around some of the very best the game has
ever seen, coaching wise, player wise, you started to see
a little bit last week with his Steelers defense daring
to blitz a Hall of famer in Aaron Rodgers.
Speaker 5 (31:47):
What do you think, mister young Daniel Jones is gonna
look like when he blitzes no this week comes all?
Speaker 13 (31:54):
Right?
Speaker 6 (31:56):
The other thing that I'm driving to with t Watt,
the game wrecker as he's being called now, the game wrecker,
not only does it free that up that other outside
linebacker right to make a play and make big time plays.
It also presents to you blitz package, Jez. Blitz package, Jez.
Speaker 5 (32:22):
Follow me on this.
Speaker 6 (32:24):
TJ Watt right tackle locks onto him. TJ starts to
get by him. That running back knows his primary job
is to help the tackle with superman over there right,
So all of a sudden, that running back's getting a
little jittery because TJ's almost killed his quarterback twice. He
(32:44):
not even waiting. He knows TJ's comedy. He goes flying
up there right well. That running back is there to
provide extra production for his quarterback, and a dropback scheme
has now left his quarterback vulnerable not only to high
Smith or Herbig on the other side. But if I
(33:06):
blow the free safety up in the middle a gaps
between the center and guard, you gotta now worry about
Herbig and high Smith on the other end. Now you've
got a corner coming off a slot blitz. You now
have a free safety coming off the a gap. All
(33:27):
kind of possibilities because the game wrecker TJ. Watt demands
two our three guys on him at times. God forbid,
that right guard doesn't you know no one's coming right,
He doesn't see the linebacker coming He immediately turns his
head because he knows his pile there at right tackle
(33:49):
needs help with TJ.
Speaker 5 (33:50):
Watt slides to the right.
Speaker 6 (33:55):
Now that gap, that a gap between center and guard
is twice as big, twice as big.
Speaker 5 (34:02):
You got high.
Speaker 6 (34:02):
Smith coming, and now all of a sudden you're blowing
that strong safety up the middle. It could be a nightmare,
nightmare for the Giants. All right, I'm Tank, We'll be
right back to Let's talk steal us. We're from that
time with not drank football.
Speaker 5 (34:23):
Dyeah, that is first.
Speaker 1 (34:26):
Stealers, Chuck and Donkeys friends.
Speaker 2 (34:30):
Out all that be, go get the Steelers, Brot, Saw
and Rockie and and Lee.
Speaker 5 (34:40):
We love your pits.
Speaker 3 (34:41):
First Stealer's many years incoming.
Speaker 6 (34:47):
Hey, welcome back to let stock Stealers. So we set
our intrepid interns, Nate and Pirate Peyton down to Market
Square in Pittsford this week just to talk to Steelers,
get a pulse of what they feel about Russell Wilson
and the Steelers and fields, et cetera. Got some great
(35:09):
answers and so let's listen to that now from the guys.
Speaker 11 (35:21):
What's going on Steelers Nation?
Speaker 14 (35:23):
It's hired Payton here from let's talk Steelers. We're here
in market square, who's currently Spaceburg going on today? And
right behind us is Pittsburgh tradition for Manny Brothers.
Speaker 11 (35:34):
Well, I mean, it's just what TJ. Watt showed us
last game.
Speaker 6 (35:37):
Right.
Speaker 11 (35:37):
The defense can have some struggles.
Speaker 9 (35:39):
They let two drives go down to twenty yards lot
and then we get turnovers, and those turnovers literally accounted
for ten points just by TJ. Watt knocking the ball
out two times.
Speaker 11 (35:49):
So TJ.
Speaker 9 (35:50):
Watt is a game wrecker, and that's what we want
to see for him. And then when he can't wreck
the game by himself, our defense just hold it steady enough.
Speaker 13 (35:59):
I had no doubt we were winning, no doubt, bottom
line for the best. That's the way you have to
walk into any situation. You know either you're a winner
or you're not. But if you fail, you fail forward.
So you always had the failure in your back pocket.
But when you fail, you fail forward. And that's shown
(36:20):
time and time again with the Steelers. Regardless of how
our record's been, we put out in bottom line, we
work hard and we don't quit, and we're not losers.
Even if you do.
Speaker 15 (36:30):
Feel I thought it was tremendously creative. Their general manager
is amazing with some of the stuff that he's done.
It to be able to bring in Fields and justin
Wilson for virtually no cost.
Speaker 11 (36:46):
A six round draft choice for Fields.
Speaker 5 (36:49):
Just tremendous.
Speaker 16 (36:52):
They want to win, and they want to win now,
and that will probably be Wilson, but long term it's
got to be Fields, and Fields has looked pretty good,
not great, So I see the sense in starting Wilson now.
Speaker 15 (37:09):
And I wouldn't be surprised if he plays the rest
of the year because I heard that if Fields plays
fifty of the snaps over the course of the year,
that sixth round draft choice turns into a fourth round
draft choice, So all the more reason for them to
play Wilson. It's a good bit the rest of the way.
Speaker 11 (37:28):
Well, it's a hell of a lot better than Matt
Canna knows. That is for chore he was awful, But
I mean, I think he's been doing good. We've been
putting up points on the board. I think a lot
of that has to do it.
Speaker 9 (37:38):
Nausey Harris got some like rocks out of his shoes,
so he's playing with like quicker feet and then again,
Justin Fields is letting us actually have a quarterback running game,
which we've.
Speaker 5 (37:49):
Not had in a long time.
Speaker 13 (37:52):
He's not my favorite Steeler player of all time, but
my family like knows him personally. Charlie Betch he does
a lot of great things to the community. He's good
friends with my brother and my sister, and he does
a lot so he gives back to his community. So
I'd have to say that Charlie Batch is my favorite Steeler,
my favorite Steelers team of all times, so I'm twenty nine.
(38:15):
My favorite Steelers team was probably like two thousand and
six seven when you know it was Toy pal Mall Toy,
Paul Malu, Randwell, heinz Ward, Larry Foot like I'm going
to walpens in defense, Ben Rothsberg, and Willie Parker, Keith Miller.
That team when the immaculate not inception, but the immaculate
(38:38):
interception with Toy Paul mal I think he ran it back.
They're playing the Cardinals something like that, and when Santonio Holmes,
I think it was him. He like had his two
feet in and he went like this and he got
the ball and he was in bounce. But so probably
probably the wowest Steeler.
Speaker 5 (38:59):
Member injuries, and they have.
Speaker 15 (39:03):
They've got aligned with a lot of potential, but with
a lot of new people in it and with the line.
Usually that works best when there's continuity and they've had
a chance to play together and they haven't.
Speaker 5 (39:15):
Their new center, the rookie, seems to be doing a
great job. That was a tremendous addition.
Speaker 15 (39:21):
So I think they've got the potential there on the line.
It's just a matter of getting everybody healthy and getting
it played together.
Speaker 14 (39:29):
I want to talk about some underrated players this year
for the Steelers. Number one Zach Frasier, the center from
West Virginia in the second round.
Speaker 11 (39:38):
He has been outstanding.
Speaker 14 (39:40):
He's got a couple of issues with snaps, but he
has been outstanding as a pass blocker and a run blocker.
He is looking like the future Steelers center for the
long term.
Speaker 5 (39:49):
He's the guy.
Speaker 14 (39:50):
He's a hard nosed Steeler football player, and I'm looking
forward to seeing him anchor this offensive line for the future.
Speaker 6 (39:59):
All right, So no doubt about that. Steelers fans are
always opinionated. So as we preview this Giants game coming
up again, they're coming in here at two and five.
Their five losses were significant, and they lost to teams
that are on the rise. The Vikings are in the
(40:21):
NFC hunt along with the Lions. Great game last week,
if you missed, that came down to a field goal
by number thirty nine of the Detroit Giants.
Speaker 5 (40:33):
Those two will see each other in the playoffs, no
doubt about it.
Speaker 6 (40:37):
But the Vikings ain't just eviscerated the Giants in Week
one or two, twenty eight to three or fourteen.
Speaker 5 (40:45):
No doubt about that. The Eagles last week eviscerated the
Giants so badly. Their starting quarterback that you've never heard
of for the.
Speaker 6 (40:55):
Giants, Daniel Jones, was pulled against the Eagles in the
fourth quarter.
Speaker 5 (41:01):
This is a team in disarray.
Speaker 6 (41:03):
Now. I'm not going to dabble into Giants football too much,
but I don't know if they got the great guy
up there in their head. Coach dabbled double. I think
he's dabbling around with coaching football after three seasons. That
man has not long lived in New York City. The
way they treat the players, whether it's baseball, basketball, football,
(41:25):
and coaches up there. I want you to focus in though,
on a matchup that I think to be really interesting
as we head into this Monday night matchup.
Speaker 5 (41:38):
Against the Giants.
Speaker 6 (41:42):
George Pickens. George Pickens. Wow, you know George has flashes
of Hall of Fame written all over him, Donney, especially
those catches against the Jets last week. Kidn't catch anything
you throw at him. And then he has flashes of
(42:02):
ab and nuttiness in him. Look, if George Pickens can
grow up real quick and get a Jerry Rice work ethic,
We're all going to drive up the Canon. It's only
an hour and a half away and watch him put
(42:23):
on his gold jacket in about twenty five third while
I'll be dead. You guys can go drink one for
the old Tanker that day. If not, he's gonna go
the way of Ab. There's no in between with this guy.
He's too talented, too talented for there to be an
in between.
Speaker 5 (42:45):
This goes one of two things with Pickens.
Speaker 6 (42:48):
Either he gets his head out of his third point
of contact and becomes a great wide receiver, or he
goes the path of ab, which ain't a good path.
Speaker 5 (43:03):
Ain't a good alley to walk down, right. All kind
of bad.
Speaker 6 (43:07):
Things happen in alleys, and at the end of the
alley for George Pickens, if he goes the ab alley
is a bunch of Sterno bums heating up tuna fish
at two in the morning, freezing to death in.
Speaker 5 (43:20):
An alley in Cleveland.
Speaker 6 (43:23):
That's what I waits George Pickens, if he doesn't get
his head on right now. How is that applicable to
this weekend's matchup with the Giants.
Speaker 5 (43:33):
The Giants have their own diva problem.
Speaker 6 (43:39):
In the form of a cornerback number three, the undated
Banks for the New York Giants get ready for this matchup.
I mean the ego between the two of them is
off the charts. Deontay Banks up there playing corner is
(44:02):
their best corner. He's gonna get matched up against George Pickens.
The media in New York City.
Speaker 5 (44:10):
We always know is brutal, brutal. Well, they've been brutal
on Banks much.
Speaker 6 (44:17):
Some of this sounds familiar if you've heard this. He
takes plays off when he's not involved. He gives a
half hearted effort. At times he thinks the world revolves
around him. Sound like anybody you might know. George Pickens
(44:41):
not blocking. So this matchup at corner between Pickens in
the corner.
Speaker 5 (44:48):
Deontay Banks for the Giants is a battle for the
ages of the divas.
Speaker 6 (44:55):
They will both put on their lipstick and their nylons
and their high hills, and they will prance out.
Speaker 5 (45:01):
There for the world to see. This could be a
heck of a matchup.
Speaker 6 (45:08):
Now, George Pickens matched against the Jets corner, it's one thing,
but against a diva quarterback who can play at times,
this is as a hugely interesting, interesting makeup to it,
no doubt about it. All Right, it is time to
head into the locker room for let's stock Steelers.
Speaker 5 (45:32):
Essay.
Speaker 6 (45:32):
On Wednesday, the locker room made itself available to guys
like me with microphones to chat to.
Speaker 5 (45:39):
You're gonna hear from.
Speaker 6 (45:40):
Friarmouth a variety of the players addressing Russell Wilson, the Jets,
the Giants, the state of nation with the Steelers. So
it is tang for Steelers. Well, let's stock Stealers. So
we're gonna take the show out with locker room interviews
this week. God bless you, God bless you, God bless
(46:01):
the United States. Let's talk steal us at that point,
I mean, it's been two different quarterables that have done it,
so there's obviously more to it than just what we're
seeing under center.
Speaker 5 (46:10):
Yeah, for sure.
Speaker 17 (46:10):
I mean I think, you know, Justin and Russe has
done a great job. You know when when their respective roles,
you know that they've been able to execute the game plan,
moving them trying to do and stuff like that. So,
you know what, I thought it was cool, you know
when when it wasn't going as quick what we wanted
to early on, you know, Russ was able to you know,
handle the diversity and able to get the ball, distribute
the ball to the playmakers and us we're able to
(46:32):
make plays.
Speaker 6 (46:33):
Not just this past game, but again, it seems like
a lot of games this year, you guys have played
way better in the same half in the first half.
Speaker 5 (46:39):
Not so much What are you guys not doing right
in the first time? What are you guys doing so
well that to make that's legend of success in the.
Speaker 17 (46:44):
Second Yeah, I mean I think there's two things I
think we're able to, you know, adjust on the fly,
you know, get to the halftime, able to figure out
talk together as what we're seeing, what we're trying to
do or we're gonna try and attack in the second half.
And then the second thing is I think we're just
able to, you know, build momentum going into halftime. I
think we've scored points on I think every single time
(47:05):
going to halftime. Defense makes it being made a hell
of play able to set us up for a touchdown
before the half. So we're able to gather momentum and
keep it.
Speaker 5 (47:12):
Yeah, I scored thirty seven points. You had over four
hundred yards.
Speaker 12 (47:15):
Obviously there's a lot of optimism about that.
Speaker 5 (47:17):
But is there like I mean, you said you didn't
start that fast, Like.
Speaker 6 (47:20):
Is there an idea that there could be even more
than what we saw last week for this offense?
Speaker 5 (47:24):
Yeah, for sure.
Speaker 17 (47:25):
I mean, anytime you can distribute the ball to you know,
the playmakers we have and we're able to make plays,
there's gonna be a lot of points to have. But
I think it's also starts with, you know, you know,
not kicking our own self. I mean, I think you know,
we had three h three and outs early on.
Speaker 5 (47:37):
You know, we're not we can't do that.
Speaker 17 (47:39):
Once we get that first first down, we got to
continue a role and I think we were able to
do that later in games, but we have to start faster,
for sure. Shout out Dan more telling me to shout
him out. I think he's playing pretty good football and now,
so it's good.
Speaker 5 (47:51):
For him development. I did boop past. Yeah kind of
how you guys continue to maybe develop new problem.
Speaker 17 (48:01):
Yeah, you know, we always got to develop obviously. You know,
we've been working with Justin. You know, majority of the
time Wrest has been hurt. But when Rust coming back,
he's done a great job, you know, grabbing us for
extra reps, stuff like that. So it's gotta build chemistry
with the quarterbacks. Continue to you know, go from there
and and then hopefully this continues to go throughout the
whole season.
Speaker 1 (48:16):
You've talked about the effectiveness of the home crowd and
Sunday have three prime time games and over weeks.
Speaker 5 (48:22):
How unique is that help center you have a second
street week through that kind of time.
Speaker 17 (48:25):
Yeah, it's an awesome opportunity. You know, I think that
was the best environment that I've been in playing for
a Steeler that I've been here. So credit to the fans,
credits the atmosphere it was. It was it was a great,
great venue to play in. And I'm hopefully continued on
Monday night and hopefully we can give him something to
share about it's easy to share when you're putting up
thirty seven points and you shout.
Speaker 11 (48:43):
It out, Dan, it's six different combinations along that line.
Speaker 5 (48:47):
Yeah, it's kept it together.
Speaker 17 (48:49):
And yeah, I think the ad line has been great.
I mean they're really close unit.
Speaker 13 (48:54):
You know.
Speaker 17 (48:54):
I think Isaac does a really good job, you know,
kind of being the head of the group, keep making
sure everyone' accountable and stuff like that. So credit to him,
Credit the O line. You know, Mason's done a really
good job coming in Ryan as well, you know, all
of them, Spence coming in when the numbers called and executing,
and so it's been awesome.
Speaker 5 (49:10):
It's just gotting repute on THEO joneson and what is
it about? Does Prince state tight end? Yeah, the THEO
is a really good tight end.
Speaker 17 (49:16):
You know, I've really watched too much film on him,
but from what I've seen, he's coming into his own
over there. I'm happy for him. You know, he's got
a really unique opportunity with with thereon
