We got another one, yup, Evan Longoria signed his one day deal and will be retiring as a Tampa Bay Ray and MJ is not a big fan of it. We also pivot back to Adam Silver's comments about expansion in the NBA. We hit the text line and read back messages from listeners, and close the show with Ian Furness as he shares what he has planned for his show.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Someone sent me something today of a caller in Boston
when I was on a station up there, and he said, Hey, Mock,
I just want you to know that, next to Jerry Callahan,
you're my second favorite host in the history at his station, and.

Speaker 2 (00:17):
Uh, you know, you could be number one. Love the show.

Speaker 1 (00:20):
I love those calls. Those calls are great. We have
the voice text line set up for that. You can
always go to the new and improved iHeart Radio app
and then go to ninety three to three KJR and
leave a voice text on the microphone icon button. Just
hit the microphone icon button. You can be profanity laced.
Christopher Kidd will beep it out. But tell me on

(00:41):
the text line at four nine four five one, what
is the premise? What is the point to a one
day contract?

Speaker 2 (00:51):
Why? Why? See?

Speaker 1 (00:54):
I actually respect the fact that Ken Griffy Junior at
the end of his career.

Speaker 2 (01:00):
He came back and played with the Mariners. That was
his final team, so he didn't need to do some
BS one day contract. Same thing with Scottie Pippen with
the Bulls, Scottie Pippen's last team after going to Houston
and Portland, he ended up with the Chicago Bulls where
his career started. That's fine, But the one day contract,

(01:23):
what's the point, kid? I think it's more so symbolizing.
It's like a dave of appreciation.

Speaker 3 (01:33):
It really is, and that's it seems silly, but when
you look at the legacy and what this player accomplished
for that organization, it's saying, here you go, here's one
last who row. Especially for thousands of fans that love
or really care about this guy, it's more so about

(01:53):
them as well. So I get where you're coming from.
But I feel if Bobby he's probably gonna get that
one day contract coming back to Seattle. Russell Wilson potentially
coming back to Seattle for that one day got it done?

Speaker 2 (02:08):
Did he do it? Yeah?

Speaker 3 (02:09):
I believe Marshawn did.

Speaker 2 (02:11):
I think. I don't know.

Speaker 3 (02:12):
I'm pretty sure he did. I can't remember off top.
But the biggest thing is you get to officially retire
with that team. Yeah, you build built your legacy, and
that's more so what it's all about. Because it's nostalgic
all the things that a fan enjoys about the game,
there's also that one player that they probably enjoyed. He, she,

(02:34):
whoever it may have been. So if they can get
back for one day, especially if things didn't in the
way you'd wanted to with a bunch of players that
are now gone. I mean, Dk Metcalf, would he get
a one day Maybe not, Maybe he won Richard Sherman,
that's still on the we're still waiting for that.

Speaker 2 (02:50):
But probably not Thomas either.

Speaker 1 (02:52):
Right now, well, he seems to have it seems like softening,
right he seems.

Speaker 3 (02:56):
It seems like there's polity. I could understand why. It's,
I guess something that's done in sports as opposed to not.

Speaker 1 (03:05):
Here's why I will defend Marshaun Lynch on this. I
will defend the Seahawks on this. Led him to a title.
I got no problem with that. He led him to
a title. Now, Brady didn't do that in New England.
He didn't go back and sign a one day contract.
But you know, they do the Patriots Hall of Fame
up there, so he got inducted into the Patriots Hall
of Fame, which obviously you know.

Speaker 2 (03:27):
But I just don't like it. I I for me,
it's just.

Speaker 1 (03:31):
Stupid and it's silly, and it's superficial and a little pretentious.
The whole thing just bothers me. It really bothers me.
By the way, we will get to that on the
you know, for the what do you say text of
the day, it's four nine four five one. Do you
like the one day contract?

Speaker 2 (03:51):
Do you like it? You might have? You have done
a poll in a long time. It's been a minute.
I tried to do one last week, but then they
wouldn't because I had the pros in the poll. Yeah,
I know. I just it's like, oh my lord, like
the one day contract. Oh man, at.

Speaker 1 (04:11):
Least as bad as the helmet condoms look, they're for
a purpose to to to prevent further concussions, even though
on a helmet during a game it looks silly af
but at least I get that part. I get it,
like they're trying to prevent any further damage concussions to,

(04:33):
you know, to that player's cranium.

Speaker 2 (04:36):
I get that part.

Speaker 1 (04:38):
One day contract, Oh man, that is just it's it's
just I don't get it.

Speaker 2 (04:44):
Four nine four five one. On that, all right. Adam Silver.

Speaker 1 (04:50):
Spoke to the media at the finals in Oklahoma City,
and we've got the the full version, extended version of
Adam Silver being asked about the possibility of expansion.

Speaker 4 (05:09):
What is the current temperature among the Board of governors
to expand the NBA and you know, whether it's Seattle
or another American city. Just what have you guys found
in your committees so far?

Speaker 5 (05:23):
Joe, let me answer expansion two ways. One there, of
course our expansion of current NBA teams. The current sense
is we should be exploring it. I don't think it's
automatic because it depends on your perspective on the future
of the league. As I've said before, expansion in a
way is selling equity in the league, and if you
believe in the league, you don't necessarily want to add partners.

(05:45):
On the other hand, that we recognize there are underserved
markets in the United States and elsewhere, and I think
markets that deserve to have NBA teams, probably even if
we would expand more than we can serve.

Speaker 1 (06:02):
All Right, So the NBA just signed a brand new,
eleven year, seventy six billion dollar contract media rights deal
with Disney, NBC, and Amazon. Warner Brothers, Discovery TNT is out.
So the NBA is now carried on those three entities. Disney,
which is ESPN, ABC, NBC, and Amazon didn't give us

(06:27):
anything there he did say it's something that it's what
let me hear the beginning of the answer when he says, Okay, Joe,
we're looking into it, but there's no guarantee or something
like that.

Speaker 2 (06:42):
I want to hear that again, Joe.

Speaker 5 (06:45):
Let me answer expansion two ways. One there, of course
our expansion of current NBA teams. The current sense is
we should be exploring it. I don't think it's automatic
because it depends on your perspective on the future of
the league. As I've said, for expansion in a way
is selling equity in the league, and if you believe
in the league, you don't necessarily want to add partners.

(07:08):
On the other hand, that we recognize there are underserved
markets in the United States and elsewhere, and I think
markets that deserve to have NBA teams, probably even if
we would expand more than we can serve.

Speaker 1 (07:23):
Very diplomatic, very vague, little word salad, but bottom line,
when are you gonna announce?

Speaker 2 (07:30):
Let's just get down to it.

Speaker 1 (07:32):
Let's just get down to brass tax commissioner, when are
you gonna announce? Because you have and you don't need
to go through it. But it bears repeating here. We
are seventeen years later, and I'm gonna imagine, you know,
and that if the NBA does announce at the owners

(07:56):
meetings next month in Las Vegas, that here's thirty one
and thirty two Seattle in Vegas, how many years to
those franchise? Now, Seattle's on standby, right? You know the
Toddlight Wiki group, you know, you know that, you know
that whole thing, that Seattle's ready to go. We got

(08:18):
the arena. Obviously, it's gonna take time. You're gonna have
to go through the operating expenses. Who's gonna be the
president of basketball operations, who's gonna be the general manager,
who's gonna be the head coach?

Speaker 2 (08:31):
What are we doing?

Speaker 1 (08:31):
They're gonna have an expansion draft, all that stuff. Every
time the new teams come the league, you're gonna have
an expansion draft. But if Adam Silver, who likes to
quote evolve when it comes to the league, if you
don't think expanding is good for the league. I'm not

(08:55):
saying doing six teams, I'm not even saying doing four teams.
But if you don't, I think adding two more markets, specifically,
let's just say Seattle in Vegas is good for the league.
Then I have no idea what you're looking to do
to evolve this league going forward, you know, And let's

(09:16):
concentrate on this country and not worry about countries you know,
out of the market, right, Let's worry about this country
and you know, and what we're gonna do before we
start looking at Mexico City or London.

Speaker 2 (09:38):
I mean the people here and.

Speaker 1 (09:41):
I imagine who it was like, I forget who we
talked to last week or a couple of weeks ago.
They were saying that when the Sonics were taken away.
I think a lot of people here at that time,
and just what I've gleaned and talking to a lot
of people, they thought, oh, okay, they'll be back in
two years, okay, not too five five two became five,
five became ten, ten became fifteen, and fifteen is now

(10:05):
seventeen in counting. And the worst part is that we
don't have a light at the end of the tunnel,
a rainbow after the humongous thunderstorm.

Speaker 2 (10:22):
We don't have that light at the end of the
tunnel right now.

Speaker 1 (10:25):
We don't have it because the NBA is continuing to
be vague.

Speaker 2 (10:33):
And I get it. You want to make sure everything
is lined up.

Speaker 1 (10:36):
And I just you know, you heard things like gotta
wait till the Celtics are sold, check, gotta wait till
the Tea Wolves are sold.

Speaker 2 (10:44):
Check.

Speaker 1 (10:45):
Now we're potentially waiting to see who the ownership group
in Vegas is, and now that Vegas is not going
to they don't want to put the NBA team at
Ti mob Marina with the Vegas Golden Nights. They want
to have their own building. Fair enough, but it's like
how much longer does Seattle have to wait? How much longer?

(11:07):
Because it's beyond this right now has become such a
travesty in sports history, And it's like, I mean pretty soon.
Like if I was Adam Silver, I would be doing
everything I could to try to get this thing done

(11:32):
sooner than later. That's all I'm saying. I would not
push this thing off. I would be trying to do
it and getting it done very soon. So we'll see.
July's the day, okay, And I mean at July the day.
July is the month where the owner's means will be
and we hope at that point there will be something

(11:57):
substantial that we can look at and say, all right.
October twenty twenty seven, LFG, here we go. By that time,
it will have been nineteen and a half years. So
let's go. And it might not be October twenty twenty seven.
It could be October twenty twenty eight. Hell, at the
NBA at this juncture, I just to me, if you're

(12:20):
Adam Silver and you want to do something right, to
rectify the biggest wrong, not only in NBA history but
maybe in sports history, get this thing done, a sep
Just get it done.

Speaker 2 (12:34):
That's all you gotta do. Get it done, and get
it done as soon as possible. Please. We're all begging you.
That's it.

Speaker 1 (12:43):
Because you see the ratings in what they are now
for the NBA Finals. Imagine having a top ten market
like Seattle where people will want to wrap their arms
around the NBA again. I don't blame everybody here for
being turned off and put off in boycotting the league.
I don't blame you should If you want to do that,

(13:05):
that's completely your prerogative, and for what the NBA did
to this city, you're completely within your.

Speaker 2 (13:11):
Constitutional rights to do so. I just want the league
to announce, give me, give us something that's saying that
maybe at the owners means, Okay, we don't have a
definitive date, but we're gonna announce whether or not there's
gonna be expansion in August or in September. Give us something.
We're begging you. We're literally, I'm literally begging you. I

(13:35):
like to be in an NBA city, and Seattle is
one of the best basketball cities in the world. Okay,
it deserves to have the NBA. It should have it here.

Speaker 1 (13:47):
And it's been way too long, and right now, what's
transpired for seventeen years now has been felonious, felonious, literally,
and I'm tired of it. And I know all of
you are too. I get it. It sucks to where
you're you know, you're somewhere, and we all want the

(14:10):
same thing, don't we.

Speaker 2 (14:11):
We're all on the same page.

Speaker 1 (14:13):
As much as we might disagree whether you know, John
Schneider did the right thing and moving on from Geno
Smith for Sam Darnold and DK metcalf or Cooper cup.
I think it's pretty safe to say the one thing
that everybody here can sort of concur about is the
fact that we all want the Sonics back. I just

(14:33):
patience is a virtue and it's a virtue that people
in Seattle should not be held to because it's been
seventeen fing years and people here are sick and tired
of it. I've been here four months and I can't
take it. I want the NBA in the city that
I call home. I want the Sonics back, and I

(14:55):
know you do as well. So please, Commissioner, somebody do something.
Oh man, all right, hope it's there. Your thoughts on
the one day contract four nine four five one.

Speaker 2 (15:10):
You want to get in on?

Speaker 1 (15:11):
Uh what I just said there about Adam Silver, He said,
kind of a whole lot of nothing.

Speaker 2 (15:18):
Well, we could do it, but it's not automatic. You know,
you're taking equity out of the what what there's thirty
two NFL teams.

Speaker 1 (15:29):
Just make thirty two NBA teams and be done with it.
Stop like like, don't don't give us this word jargon
and word solid crap. Four nine four five one. The
what do you say? Text of the day. Next on
MJ in the Midday Sports Radio ninety three to three
kJ R.

Speaker 6 (15:42):
FM, casting live from the R and R Foundation Specialist
Broadcast Studio.

Speaker 7 (15:48):
Now back to MJ the Midday.

Speaker 6 (15:50):
On your Home for the Huskies, Kraken and Sounders Sports
Radio ninety three point three kJ r FM.

Speaker 1 (16:03):
All right, what do you say texts of the day
four nine, four five one here on MJ in the midday, Kid,
you want to lead.

Speaker 2 (16:17):
Us off from the two five three?

Speaker 3 (16:20):
So what if Katie comes back to sign a one
day contract with the Sonnets before retiring after the team returns.

Speaker 2 (16:25):
Now, that would be awesome.

Speaker 3 (16:26):
That's going to be a storyline we all wait over
for almost two decades to see.

Speaker 2 (16:31):
Not Corny.

Speaker 1 (16:32):
That would be cool because he didn't leave here on
his own and they were moving. That's a different scenario.
That's a difference. That would be awesome. That actually would
be really cool. And I guess we both kind of
with this one went over ahead. Marshawn actually didn't sign
a one day contract. He came back and played a
game here in twenty nineteen. He came back to the

(16:54):
Seahawks and actually playing. They need a running back, so
he came back. So I'm okay with that, Okay with that,
it's all good. So but Katie, that's an exception because
he played, he loved it.

Speaker 2 (17:11):
Here, he was here for a year, he lived in
Mercer Island. He didn't want to leave, and that would
be that I'd be there. I'd be there with a
freaking pomp poms. I'm green and gold pomp poms.

Speaker 1 (17:23):
If Kat came back here, I definitely would absolutely. How
about this, what's he saying from Tim in the four
two five is that if they can do to the league,
therefore dilute the talent in the league.

Speaker 2 (17:40):
But they're still not sure they really want to. Yes,
can we can get a new Sonics team here, but
it's gonna suck for ten years. I don't care. I
don't care.

Speaker 1 (17:51):
If he just get us a team, we know they're
not gonna be good for a while. That's okay.

Speaker 2 (17:56):
You never know. You never know. You could get lucky
and hit the US, you know. I mean, you just
could hit in the lottery and then all of a
sudden that turns into you could hit you know, the
next Cooper flag. You don't know. This is if I'm
a four two five.

Speaker 3 (18:12):
They've been saying the science will come back any year
now for the last decade.

Speaker 1 (18:17):
I know, I know from the two oh six NBA
is gonna pass over Seattle. They don't care for the PNW.
Vancouver Grizzlies removed quickly. Well, Vancouver should never had a team.
They should never had a team.

Speaker 3 (18:31):
From the two O six, the Portland Trailbladers are going
to be solid pretty soon. This will put a freeze
on NBA's bension question mark. The Celtics sale put a
hold on Seattle getting a team. The NBA wants to
know how much Portland will sell for.

Speaker 1 (18:45):
That's an excellent point. And you know what, I think
we're now waiting on that crap too. I think we
have to wait on the Blazers to be sold because
then when the Blazers get sold, they're worth more money
and the league's worth more money. So it's like, how
to wait for the Celtics, Jack, you have to wait
for the Tea Wolves. Check Now the Blazers, it's like,
oh my lord.

Speaker 2 (19:05):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (19:06):
From the two five to three, the one day contract
is for the player, not the fan.

Speaker 2 (19:12):
Fair enough, Still don't like it.

Speaker 3 (19:14):
From the two six, our guy Marcus I wanted to
sun his back for the fans that want them back.
I know I'd hate not having the Mariners, but now
the complaining is getting out of hand, so I couldn't
care less.

Speaker 1 (19:27):
From the four to two five, Adam Silver basically said
owners don't want to split the profits between more teams,
and it sounded a lot like it's not gonna happen. Yeah,
let's hope that's not true.

Speaker 3 (19:41):
This next one is from the four two five.

Speaker 2 (19:50):
One.

Speaker 3 (19:50):
One day contracts are a non story. I don't know
why it bothers you a lot. I've never heard anyone's
been talking about them.

Speaker 1 (19:58):
Well, i'll tell you what, I'll piggyback up three six. Oh,
you can't call out Maile Karen's gym. If you're gonna
be about one day contracts, MJ Male Karen's if you're
gonna be about what, well, not about one day contracts.

Speaker 2 (20:12):
I don't like them. That's the whole point. Uh. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (20:16):
From the two o six, only one of the Sonics
back of Chrins Hanson is the owner.

Speaker 2 (20:21):
Chris Hansen.

Speaker 1 (20:22):
Yeah, he was supposed to be the owner, like over
thirteen years ago when the the Kings were almost gonna
move here from the four. From the two five three
mark with a C. This is your psychiatrist. Give it
a rest. It's overtaking your life. You're becoming an angry
young man, becoming becoming Oh I am one.

Speaker 3 (20:42):
From the two O six just rename ma Owners and
Kraken the Seattle Cheap no Stars.

Speaker 1 (20:48):
Mmm, I know, I know, I saw I saw that one.

Speaker 2 (20:55):
How about this one.

Speaker 1 (20:57):
One day from Jim in the four two five one
day contracts allow player and organization to let all involved
fans included enjoy said players time, not a dog and
pony show. Have your opinion, but let them have their
day from the three to six to oh.

Speaker 3 (21:13):
In order to overcome a sports curse, you got to
spend some money and be committed to defeating said curse.
This is why the ms will be cursed until the
team is sold.

Speaker 1 (21:27):
But the team isn't for sale. That's the that's the problem.
They're not for sale, you know. And if they were,
then you'd have oh no, who knows, Maybe you know
some big wig at Amazon or Microsoft or Boeing could
could buy them and put money into the team.

Speaker 2 (21:45):
How about for the two five three?

Speaker 1 (21:46):
I agree it's stupid, but for the player and the fans,
it solidifies them as the last team they did business with.
Send them off in a nostalgic way.

Speaker 3 (21:55):
From the two five to three. Who cares? The NBA
is unwatchable. You can get from half court to the
bucket without dribbling, it's just hoist threes and dunks.

Speaker 1 (22:06):
Yeah, yeah, Hey from the two pho six mark, if
you don't like Joe Buck, you'll fit right in here
in Seattle. Joe Buck and Troy Aikman are not well
liked here, known anti Seahawks bias whenever they call Hawks games.

Speaker 3 (22:21):
Or that they just keep it real and you guys
just don't like it.

Speaker 2 (22:23):
Is that true?

Speaker 3 (22:25):
I don't I'm just watching the game. I don't know.

Speaker 2 (22:27):
I think they're just honest. Okay, what's wrong with being
brutally honest? Nothing? Nothing.

Speaker 3 (22:32):
If they say the Seios are gonna win nine games,
is that really a stretch?

Speaker 2 (22:37):
Probably not.

Speaker 1 (22:39):
No, No, just think about it out loud. And by
the way, I just so you know, and I don't
like Joe Buck, but every city in America has said
when he did baseball and football with Fox, oh, Joe
Buck is biased against our city. Every city's done that everyone.

Speaker 2 (22:55):
It sounds like he just is keeping it a little
too real.

Speaker 3 (22:58):
Yeah, and fans don't like the realness about what he's
talking about.

Speaker 2 (23:02):
Whether he's right or wrong.

Speaker 1 (23:03):
Fantastic announcer, there's no doubt about it. From the two
oh six Evan Longoria's presser yesterday was over the top
by his rhetoric, super pretentious. Basically, it took two years
to plan this day, just to get it right. First
pitch and buttoning the jersey. Please watch from the two
oh six, Ugh, no, I'd rather stick temples. I wuld

(23:27):
rather stick ice picks in my temple than watch that crap. No,
thank you or another part of my anatomy. But I
wouldn't do that either. No, I'm good.

Speaker 3 (23:36):
From the four to two five, the NBA keeps kicking
the can down the road on the return of the Sonics,
and yet it still supports poor franchises like the Bob
Charlotte and the New Orleans Pelicans.

Speaker 1 (23:49):
Yeah, New Orleans and the disaster. They don't, they don't.
They shouldn't have an NBA team. From Marcus from the
two oh six, I wanted the Sonics back for the
fans that want them back. I think you read that
one right, or no, say it again. Did you read
the Marcus one? I wanted the Sonics back for the fans. Okay,
I thought you did because it sound starts to sing similar,
So that's a how many things? From the two to

(24:12):
ozho six let's see here the two five three, Adam
Silver is a slease ball.

Speaker 2 (24:21):
Well, I mean, you know, I not like his predecessor
David Stern. Oh no, uh, one more for the three six. Oh,
as long as Wilson puts Garver in the four hole
or the five hole.

Speaker 1 (24:41):
And then puts a DH next to his name, you
can't question anything else. Garver has only proven over two
years to not belong in Major League Baseball. And don't
even bring up Solano. If you have Garver as a
backup catcher and play him once every five days, all right,

(25:01):
fair enough? I Garver is yeah, I'm not a fan,
not a fan at all. And and Bryce Miller, I
mean I hope he can get it back, but I
just don't see it this year. Man, He's just been
so horrific this year. Last one for me is from
Margut Keith Miller. Out of the two five to three,
I need a one day contract with kJ R. Oh,

(25:23):
fair enough, now, that would be interesting, That would be
very interesting. From the three six, oh, gotta have Kevin, Harlan,
Reggie and Stan van Gundy. You had me at Harlan
in Van Gundy. Leave out Reggie, No, thank you. How
about this as a fifty five year old lifelong super
Sonics fan. I wish that you guys would not talk

(25:44):
about the NBA until they right the wrong and give
us our Sonics back. Well, then we wouldn't be talking
about the NBA for a while. I don't want to,
you know, I just no, no thanks. And the last
one from four two five, Bryce isn't any more of
a hole than Julio. Send them both down. Well, I

(26:05):
wouldn't send Julio down. Julio's he does his up and
down wrote like you know, roller coaster type season, like
he does every year he's on brand. But you know,
Bryce Miller, I mean, it's painful to watch this guy.
And I just can't believe that he's literally gonna be
in that starting rotation every fifth day. I don't understand.

Speaker 2 (26:28):
Why.

Speaker 1 (26:29):
What more does he need to show you that he's
killing this team. I mean literally, he's absolutely destroying this
team when he goes out there, and I, you know,
I don't get it.

Speaker 2 (26:39):
That's the part I don't get. It's Dan Wilson, if.

Speaker 1 (26:42):
It's Gerard Depoto, I don't understand that much. Speaking of Julio,
he speaking of on brand Julio oh for five yesterday.
It was totally on brand yesterday, oh for five, although
he did go two for two and two for four
of the previous two games, but oh for five yesterday,
Leon Brand.

Speaker 2 (27:01):
So that's the what do you say text of the day.

Speaker 1 (27:05):

We've embraced him like one of our own until he
busses us off. He's Mark James MJ in the midday

Speaker 1 (27:31):
F M, all right, thanks to Mike Benton for coming
on today. Tomorrow we will have Hugh Millen coming on
at eleven r QB one and then Brendan Haywood, one

(27:54):
of the only people in the world who is a
teammate of Michael Jordan and Lebron James, join us. We'll
talk about the finals, we'll talk about a lot of things.
B Wood can go in a bunch of different directions
and yeah, yeah, there's h I'll say this. You talk
about who has no chill is on Pablo Torre. It's

(28:19):
like maniacal on this story with Bill Belichick and his girlfriend.
He will not let it go and I'm here for
all of it. Pablo Go, Pablo Go. Injected in my veins.

Speaker 2 (28:31):
Brother. Just keep doing what you do.

Speaker 2 (29:53):
All right, mayor so long weekend. Let's start game three
tonight in Sunrise between the Stanley Cup between the Oilers
and Panthers. I've never seen a team more gassed in
overtime than the Oilers were after tying it.

Speaker 1 (30:12):
Up with seventeen seconds left in regulation. They had nothing
left in the tank in the bonus period.

Speaker 8 (30:19):
Yeah, yeah, that's you know, when you get that goal,
you've probably expended so much to get there, I guess
at that point. But you know, I felt like I
felt like Florida was the better team in overtime.

Speaker 2 (30:34):
So they were, Oh, they certainly were.

Speaker 8 (30:36):
But I also believe that this is a series. It
is going to go a long way. Now, what's Mikey
what's right, NuGen Hopkins Hopkins yes or no tonight?

Speaker 2 (30:45):
Do we know?

Speaker 8 (30:45):
Game time decision? You take him out of the lineup,
and now you're taking two top six forwards out of
your lineup like with him and already out. That's a
tough that's a tough battle, man. So but hey, give
me a good series. I can tell you this. We've
had two Stanley Cup games so far and they've both
been great and final games. We've had one or two
NBA Finals games so far. One was great, the other

(31:07):
one was predictable.

Speaker 1 (31:08):
Well, the well, the other one's don't great. The climax
was yeah, you're right, right, climax, Well, I like both
games have sucked really awful.

Speaker 8 (31:15):
Yesterday was the most This is why this is this
is be a criticism of the NBA. It's the most
predictable thing in the world. Like you get the split,
team that gets the split's gonna basically Maile in the
next game.

Speaker 2 (31:25):
Yeah that's what they did. Yeah, you know, yeah, that's
what they did.

Speaker 1 (31:28):
That's exactly what they did. Can Indiana win one at home? Possibly,
but they're just prolonging the inevitable, which is losing And yeah, fortunately, right,
it totally does feel that way. What did you get
the sense overall from Lane Lambert being introduced today and
just the reception and just what the media takes on this.

(31:50):
Obviously it's the third coaching change in the first five
years of the franchise, but just like, what did you
get an overall sense of the Lane Lambert era beginning today?

Speaker 8 (31:59):
Well, I think a couple of things jump out one
and I'll talk to him about this. He's coming on
at two o'clock with us. I you know, it's a
two way street when someone gets hired the guy, you know,
the team has to want you, and you have to
want the team or the organization. And you know, he
mentioned that a couple of times in the press conference
that he wanted to or he was talking about the

(32:20):
you know, the atmosphere around here, the facilities and the
fan base and you know, coaching as an opposing coach
here a couple of times at Climate Pledge and so
he was sold here on this From a coaching standpoint,
I think you have a guy, you know, as a
season war on last year watching Bilesma. It just I

(32:42):
don't want to be that guy, and I don't want
to be disrespectful and this is going to come across
as being harsh. I felt like he was maybe over
his skis. I think maybe the game had evolved since
you had success in Pittsburgh. It got it evolved past him.
The use of analytics and video and different things like
that that are so important in today's world. I'm not

(33:02):
sure if he ever adapted to that. This guy has,
you could tell it in his presence. He's you know,
I mean, he's worked in Toronto, worked in the Island,
He's worked at so many different levels. I think he
comes across as a no nonsense guy. I think you're
gonna see a tougher team, a team that won't back down,
a team that will respond. But I like the guy,
you know, I like the guy. He's he got a

(33:23):
very good demeanor. I'm looking forward to sitting down with
it too.

Speaker 2 (33:25):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (33:26):
I look forward to hearing that interview and we'll have
that and I know you got the Mollywap guys on. Okay, yeah,
bye bye, by the way, don't I hope they don't
let up because of that one, like Little Lucky Lucky
win yesterday, because this team has been Hey, Ian, I
did some research and I'll leave you with this before
we got to let you go for your show starting

(33:48):
here pretty soon.

Speaker 2 (33:49):
But I said, the lob is back.

Speaker 1 (33:52):
The left on base for Seattle two point zero and
the ten losses Ian they've left sixty five runners on
base in those ten losses. They're fifteen for eighty with
runners in scoring position for a one eighty eight batting average.

Speaker 8 (34:06):
Well, I'm shocked the head that many guys on base.
I would I would just say, don't worry about the
Molly Whoppers quote letting up. Let me introduce you to
the Chris and Nate. That's not going to happen.

Speaker 2 (34:22):
Listen.

Speaker 8 (34:23):
It's it was still a one in five week even
with a win yesterday.

Speaker 2 (34:26):
That's right.

Speaker 8 (34:27):
Yeah, yeah, I mean it's funny how the timing works out.
That win yesterday, though, does change how we feel about
a lot of things, because if they don't win that game,
if they win that game, say that game would have
been Saturday and they won that one and then lost yesterday,
I think we feel a lot different instead. Kirby's back. Yeah,
a Rosarina was really good. You know, they won a

(34:48):
game without cal so you feel better, But it doesn't
erase one and five, so we'll we'll talk to those
guys coming.

Speaker 2 (34:54):
Up about today.

Speaker 1 (34:55):
Yeah, they lost ten of their last fourteen either as well,
so let's not Yeah, oh no, don't worry, you won't
be disappointed.

Speaker 2 (35:01):
I never am, I never am.

Speaker 1 (35:03):
Infants coming up next live from the Cracking Community, Ice Plax,
and he will have the head coach of the crack
in Lane Lambert coming on at two o'clock. Thanks again
to everyone who listened, and Christopher Kidd will see you
tomorrow Seattle, right here on MJ in the Miday Sports
Radio ninety three three KGRF
