Speaker 2 (00:05):
This is the.
Speaker 3 (00:06):
Perfect song Chumbawamba. I get knocked down, but I get
up again. It's classic Kids one O three point seven.
Welcome to your Friday at eight twenty. Got more Heart
tickets for you. They're coming to the Chase Center August tenth.
I'm Christy, that's producer Karina and I played the Chumbawamba
because a lot of times it feels like life is
knocking us down. But just a message this Friday, as
(00:30):
you take it into the weekend, that you can and
you will get up again. Sometimes life be life in
Let's keep it real. Sure that's true, whether it's your kids,
or bills, or work, or just something you're going through
in your personal life. And I wanted to share this story.
This guy, Jacob Jake Schmidt. I don't know if you
(00:50):
saw this in the news. He was in a violent
crash in Utah. He was, I guess, hiking in the mountains,
fell and then all of a sudden, sorry, he.
Speaker 4 (01:04):
Broke his leg in several places. He didn't just quit.
Speaker 3 (01:08):
He ended up making a splint for his leg, crawled
for eleven hours through the dark until he eventually made
it back to his truck, drove himself to a nearby diner,
and then asked a staff member to call nine to
one one, and then they eventually took him to the hospital.
He didn't have anything with him except his dog Buddy,
(01:32):
and he said, Bud he had a collar light to
guide him. And they eventually made it, and he wanted
to give up. He's not even going to front.
Speaker 5 (01:39):
Everybody wants to act tough, but I wanted to give
up every time, all the time.
Speaker 4 (01:42):
But it's like either I die here or I figured
it out how to keep going.
Speaker 6 (01:46):
So that was it.
Speaker 3 (01:47):
So I just wanted to share Jacob's message with you
this morning, whatever you're going through in life, because like
I said, life be life and sometimes and sometimes just
getting out of bed is a win.
Speaker 4 (01:57):
Yeah, take that win, and just know, don't give up.
You got this.
Speaker 1 (02:00):
Yeah all right, that positivity And I'm so glad Buddy's okay.
Speaker 4 (02:05):
Of course you care about that. I'm glad they're both okay.
Speaker 3 (02:11):
And you're gonna be okay too with whatever you're going
through this morning. Just trying to spread some joy. Now,
let's get to this music. Some Wham and the Boss
coming up on Classic Kids.
Speaker 5 (02:20):

Opera, Karina's Family Drama.
Speaker 1 (02:37):
My sister Cindy, she started texting me at five thirty
this morning. We're having a little family get together tomorrow.
Speaker 4 (02:44):
Uh huh.
Speaker 1 (02:44):
So I have my uncle that came into town from
San Diego, and so she texted me.
Speaker 4 (02:48):
This morning, Hey, can you give me a favor today?
Speaker 1 (02:51):
Can you drive to Pacifica and pick up Uncle and
Angie and then stop by the Chinitos pick up some
food and then take them to Mitchell's to get some
ice cream, and then bring.
Speaker 4 (03:00):
Them all the way home to Balajo to Ballejo. And
I know that we.
Speaker 1 (03:04):
Work in the city, but to get to Pacifica, that's
about what thirty to forty five minutes.
Speaker 4 (03:09):
And so I said no.
Speaker 1 (03:13):
I said, I'm not door dashed, and I'm not uber
or lyft. Why can't they just get dropped off over
here by the station and then maybe I'll take them home, but.
Speaker 4 (03:22):
I'm not taking them anywhere else. This is your family
visiting from out of town, Karina. This is my family.
Speaker 1 (03:28):
But I'm just saying, like, why are you texting me
this early in the morning. Why didn't you give me
a heads up? And maybe I would have felt nicer
about it and want to go pick up my uncle
and my cousin who's in town. And so she's like, oh,
that's messed up, so you can't go pick them up, Like,
why is that my responsibility?
Speaker 4 (03:46):
I don't know? Am I wrong?
Speaker 6 (03:47):
Yes?
Speaker 3 (03:48):
This is your family visiting from out of town, Karina.
Speaker 4 (03:52):
Why can't you go get them?
Speaker 1 (03:53):
I was hoping they could like take Bart and then
take a lift or and uber from me here. I
know they could hop on the fair. That's another option
I gave her. Why don't they just get on the ferry? Hey, guys,
get off the airplane. Catch Bart that you've never been
on to the San Francisco Ferry.
Speaker 4 (04:10):
Look up the schedule. So she said, okay, girl, I'll
remember that. I'll remember that the next time that you
need a favor, like come on.
Speaker 3 (04:18):
So she's upset, that's okay because we'll remember that Karna,
Karina's not driving and Cindy's not trying, and Uncle Ricardo
and Angie are one fog bank away from becoming Pacifica locals.
Speaker 4 (04:38):
Will they ever get a ride or will they be
lost wondering forever.
Speaker 3 (04:42):
We'll find out next week on another episode.
Speaker 7 (04:45):
Of Karna's Family Drama.
Speaker 4 (04:48):
Won't be lost if they take the ferry.

where Aaron Punton, a twenty two year old, went out
for a.
Speaker 4 (05:23):
Night on the town.
Speaker 3 (05:24):
She was partying with their girls, had a few too
many cocktails, and when she woke up the next morning,
she realized she had brought a stranger home. Wasn't a
strange man, it was a seagull. What Aaron had picked
up a seagull on her way home from the bar.
How do you just randomly pick up a seagull? Alcohol
make you do some crazy stuff?
Speaker 4 (05:44):
Look good? Old my, he's a beauty actual wants to
stop my room and everything, but I've got auction web.
Speaker 6 (05:51):
No.
Speaker 3 (05:52):
She woke up this seagull is flying around her living
room and people were like, how are you able to
actually like capture the seagus A. Well, he wasn't moving
very fast because the seagull had bird.
Speaker 8 (06:03):
Flu, you know, wow, So.
Speaker 4 (06:07):
He was moving a little slowly. She took him to
the vet.
Speaker 3 (06:10):
The next day, this woman I picked up a seagull.
Speaker 8 (06:13):
With bird flu and brought it home. Oh god, I
can't with people. Man that would rough on my feather.
Speaker 7 (06:20):
Take you.
Speaker 1 (06:28):
No, we've been tipsy before, grizzy, but we're not bringing
home with seagull.

Drive with Christy Live on Classic Hits one oh three
point seven. It's time for the Great Debate.
Speaker 3 (07:00):
Run Forest Run Stretch Jump. Is that something we need
to be telling our kids? Okay, Every Monday Wednesday and
Friday got a new debate. And I don't know if
you saw this in the news in the past couple days.
The country is bringing back this presidential fitness test. If
you grew up as a kid in the eighties or
the nineties, you remember having to do this. At least
(07:23):
I do, because I used to dread it when we
had to run that mile, do the sit and reach,
do the sit ups. You could do the push ups
or the pull ups.
Speaker 4 (07:33):
Yeah, but it was like, dang, we gotta do this.
Speaker 1 (07:35):
I know, Christy, I'm like bad childhood memory trauma man.
Speaker 3 (07:42):
Even in the Navy, you know, because I'm a Navy veteran.
Shout out to my fellow vet hanging for your service.
We had to do a test. It wasn't anything like
super strenuous. It was basically this.
Speaker 4 (07:53):
You had to run like I think it was like
a mile and a half. You have to do some
sit in reach, sit ups.
Speaker 3 (07:58):
Well, it's the same thing, exactly, same thing in the nighties,
a fitness test.
Speaker 4 (08:02):
But now they're bringing it back.
Speaker 3 (08:05):
Do you feel like they should be bringing it back
or do you feel like, no, the kids today don't
really need it. That is the question for this morning's great.
Uh huh, tive me a second?
Speaker 4 (08:20):
Five my sound Eva, Christy. Do you think school should
bring back the fitness test? I think so?
Speaker 3 (08:28):
Really, you know what, Actually it's hard. You know, it's
hard because not every child is like is built the.
Speaker 4 (08:38):
Same, and people have different abilities.
Speaker 3 (08:40):
So you can't necessarily say, like some child could like
run a mile and half for different reasons, you know.
So I don't think it comes down to oh, well
they're lazy, blah blah blah. So it's hard, but I
think there should be some sort of physical something.
Speaker 4 (08:56):
Yeah. I don't think there's anything wrong with that. Yeah,
I'm not sup producer. On the same way I was
gonna say, don't bring it back, I feel like, oh,
you don't think.
Speaker 1 (09:04):
I don't think they should bring it back to school because,
like you said, kids are different. There's body shaming. I
think it causes a lot of stress and anxiety. Like
my niece's thirteen years old and she can't handle pe.
Speaker 4 (09:15):
She like freaks out, it's too much. No, but let
me ask you this, what is her physical activity? Huh uh?
Maybe sometimes walking the dog?
Speaker 3 (09:25):
Maybe maybe, Like keep it real, though, is the physical
activity there?
Speaker 2 (09:29):
Though?
Speaker 5 (09:29):
No?
Speaker 3 (09:30):
Okay, so once again I said, like, you know, we
used to be running and playing outside.
Speaker 4 (09:34):
Does it happen anymore?
Speaker 3 (09:35):
So maybe that might encourage a little bit of activity.
Speaker 4 (09:38):
What do you think?
Speaker 3 (09:39):
One eight six six nine hundred one three seven tap
the red microphone on our free iHeartRadio app. They're bringing
back that business tap oohh.
Speaker 4 (09:49):
Gosh to schools.
Speaker 3 (09:50):
Is that a good idea? That is this morning's great debate.
Can't wait to hear what you have to say.
Speaker 7 (09:58):
Next, back to.
Speaker 5 (09:59):
The Great Bait Classic Kids. One oh three point seven
the Presidential Fitness Test. You gotta run a mile. You
gotta either do sit ups or push ups. You gotta
do that sit and reach. You remember it back in
the day growing up in school. Well, now they're trying
to bring it back.
Speaker 3 (10:17):
The question is do you think that's a good idea
for kids in twenty twenty five?
Speaker 4 (10:22):
Chris?
Speaker 9 (10:23):
Absolutely, I think they should.
Speaker 4 (10:25):
Why do you say that because I'll tell you.
Speaker 10 (10:27):
The kids nowadays are stuck in front of their phones
and then just get out there and do something concourage
the activity.
Speaker 3 (10:32):
All right, Thank you so much, Chris, take care, appreciate you.
Thanks Raymond, thanks for checking in. Do you think they
should bring back the presidential fitness test for kids.
Speaker 6 (10:41):
Bring it on fitness to get saying, I have nothing
but great memories in Nachia Valley High School, Concer, California.
Some guys doesn't like it, but the.
Speaker 10 (10:51):
Majority we went with it.
Speaker 6 (10:53):
You know what a great world we.
Speaker 10 (10:55):
Never do Huh?
Speaker 3 (10:55):
All right, then, well, thank you so much. I will
note that Moote appreciate the call and take care. Good morning, Tom,
thanks for checking in for the great debate. They're thinking
about bringing back the presidential fitness test.
Speaker 4 (11:12):
I think actually it's going to happen. What do you think?
Speaker 6 (11:15):
You really stimulated a lot of opinions from my forty
two years of being a physical education teacher. You know,
the whole point of assessments is giving kids feedback, knowledge
of where they're at currently. And I agree that sometimes
we do it and it's more of a of a
(11:35):
body shaming, it's more of a putting them into a box. Yeah,
you can't do that to kids. So what you need
to do is you need to present activity to them
that's non threatening. Get them over the phobia of running.
A lot of kids are out of shape and their
large and they carry excess body weight. It's not easy
for them to run.
Speaker 4 (11:54):
It hurts, tell me about it. I hate running.
Speaker 9 (11:56):
Everybody does.
Speaker 6 (11:57):
Let's get the curriculum there at first. Let's get the
kids moving with a sense of purpose and a sense
of fun and not have a bag, you know, condom
sending and demeaning labeling them, and then you can give
them some feedback on where they're at all.
Speaker 3 (12:14):
Right, Well, thank you so much for working with the
kids for as long as you have, and thank you
for jumping into this morning's great debate. They're going to
bring back the presidential Fitness Test? Do you think that's
a good idea for kids? One eight sixty six nine
hundred one oh three seven? Or tap the red microphone
(12:34):
if you happen to be listening on our free iHeartRadio app,
so that way you can jump in so I can
hear from you and get your vote.
Speaker 7 (12:41):
On next back to the Great Debate Classic Kids one
oh three point seven.
Speaker 3 (12:50):
They're trying to bring back the presidential fitness test where
the kids have to run a mile, do push ups
or pull up, sit up, sit and reach? Do you
think it's good for kids? And twenty twenty five is
the question this morning? Do a new great debate every Monday,
Wednesday and Friday. Randy, thanks for calling.
Speaker 9 (13:06):
Kids shouldn't have to be stressed out about going to
a fitness class. I think that they should, you know,
evaluate kids' fitness level and kind of gear it towards
that and have like different levels. They should have offerings
that was appealed to kids, because honestly, I don't think
not just children, but I just think in general, a
(13:27):
lot of people just don't have enough activity, all right.
Speaker 3 (13:30):
So don't just make everyone do the same thing. That's
not helpful. If you want to get them active, find
something that they like to do to get them active.
Speaker 4 (13:37):
I like that. Thank you so much, Randy. Good morning, Chad.
Speaker 3 (13:41):
What do you think should they bring back the presidential
fitness test?
Speaker 2 (13:44):
I think I think they should bring it back, but
it shouldn't be mandatory. It should be if the student
wants to do it. Really, like was mentioned earlier, some
kids aren't physically inclined to do those things. They're a
little overweight, they're insecure about their cells, you know, And
then to put them on the spot like that and
then you judge him on it, and then it makes
(14:05):
them more insecure, you know what I mean? And if
it makes them fear insecure or offensive about it, then
they shouldn't have to do it. But I think you
should be a volunteer thing.
Speaker 4 (14:14):
Okay, thank you so much.
Speaker 3 (14:15):
I like that perspective, Chad, take care, Frank, what do
you think this morning's great debate?
Speaker 4 (14:26):
Should they bring back the presidential fitness test?
Speaker 10 (14:28):
Now she kids that cannot necessarily run a mile or
do your sit up or push up or whatever. So
my attitude is I like it where you're trying to
motivate kids to get out away from the computer and basement,
but to do what they can do.
Speaker 3 (14:46):
Okay, Well, thank you so much to everybody who jumped in.
If you left to talk back this morning, Unfortunately our
talkback man.
Speaker 4 (14:55):
You know technology sometimes it's given us that little.
Speaker 8 (14:59):
Like loading circle of death, you knowffering, buffering.
Speaker 3 (15:04):
So if you left to talk back, we appreciate it
and apologize we didn't get to it for this morning's
great debate.
Speaker 4 (15:11):
Wait for it up. Okay, don't touch me, Christy.
Speaker 1 (15:17):
Most people for the fitness tests say there should be
some sort of physical activity or reevaluate and customize it.
Speaker 3 (15:23):
For each kid. Yeah, but don't just make everybody do
the push up. Sit up, run man, don't make it round, dude.
I wasn't scared about the Navy. I was like, there's
nothing that scared me about the Navy except the running.
Speaker 4 (15:35):
Yeah, you don't like running, Christy, Hey, running chased me
and then I still have to think about it. Right
running to the dispensary. Take you, Margarita.
Speaker 7 (15:52):
Points with Christy live in Morning Dropping.
