(00:00):
From your perspective in terms of justallowing him to get through his situation.
Uh, you know, with Sam, you know what, I respect to
him. I think we're just rightnow. We're just happy he's here,
um, and you know, he'sin a great spot. We're kind of
looking forward with all that. Um, he's a great kid. We're we're
happy he's involved in all this andhe's doing he's doing. Uh, he

(00:20):
was fantastic about there to day,so I'm sure he had a lot of
fun, which is I think reallyimportant right now. So we're just kind
of moving forward all that at theend of the season from him in that
you know, short kind of stint. Yeah, I mean it's a it's
a heck of a jump going fromjuniors to the American League. But every
day we saw progression, um,and he's got a lot of tools,

(00:43):
you know. I think one ofthe biggest things is he's playing against men
all of a sudden, um,and he's doing a great job of getting
physically ready for for just advancing inhis career. Um. But yeah,
just what we liked was each daythere was a progression, he picked up
a little bit something, a littlebit smarter, under stood out to play
against his competition, and uh,you know it just shows kind of his
hockey smarts, which is something wealways value. What parts of his game

(01:08):
would you like to see progress doingthe coming season? Uh? Well,
I think, um, you know, he his his calculator as far as
his offensive defensive risk just because ofthe role that he's playing, you know,
with his with his junior team,he's got to do everything, which
is which is great because he isexposed to all these different situations. Um,

(01:30):
and then when when you start movingup the levels, you know,
your decision making has to be maybea little bit more calculated. And I
think he's understood that just from hisshort time with us. He's a real
smart kid student of the game.Um, he's got a lot of tools.
Like I said, obviously the physicalcomponent for any eighteen nineteen year old
year old trying to move up theirranks, and he, like I said,
he's working on that. And Ithink that in itself because of his

(01:53):
hockey smarts and his school set, will you help him progress? Yo,
He'll blow up clause. I hopeI said that right. Um, just
he got in the one game foryou last year. Just any impressions of
him in that one game as wellas just being around the team in general.
Yeah, I mean he played agame for us the prior season as
well. Yeah. Um, andwe like his his hockey sense for a
goaltending and he's able to read playsand get there. There's a couple he

(02:15):
made some incredible backdoor staves for us, and you know, he we made
a lot up a lot of greatas on him that that game that he
did play in Hartford. But hestands. He's big in the net.
Um, he can react quick toto some plays that you think he's out
and all of a sudden, youknow he's got a foot on it or
sticking on it um. And he'sgot a nice calm demeanor where he doesn't
seem to get rattled at all.Kind of like the feels real confident with

(02:38):
him in the net. If helets one end, you don't think there's
going to be any type of youknow, falling off a cliff, but
it you just think Pope probably stoppedthe next one. So his mentality is
just strong. Steve justin from Europeto North America's a common theme for Fords
and d Is there anything unique forgoaltenders in that situation, like playing the
puck around the board, it's traffic. Usually usually there's just a lot more

(03:00):
traffic um in North America. Tighteryou know, smaller rain, tighter confines.
Pucks are getting the net faster, bigger bodies are around the net.
So you've got to be able tobattle and find you know, find the
pot battle for a second, bebound. Their shots are coming from the
wall and six feet closer than itwould be in your in your in your
native way in But uh, yeah, that's usually what we find with what

(03:23):
the goalies coming over. That's that'sthe biggest one. Sticking with goalies.
What did you see from Taylor?Where do you think his game is at?
Did you see him out there today? Yeah, he looked awesome,
um. And he had a greatseason for us and you know, exceeded
my personal expectations for him. Hedid get some opportunity to to injuries and
you know, different circumstance and hewas really able to take advantage of it.

(03:44):
Um And he just got to continueto work on his pace and progress
and um, he looked great outthere today. He made some unbelievable saves.
His lateral quickness is astonishing. He'sa big body and he's got a
nice again. He's another goalie thathas that kind of walks around with a
bit of swagger. Do you attributeto that improvement to a little bit of
everything or is there anything that reallystepped out to you that Yeah. I

(04:05):
mean our goalie coaches, Kane's Tieand e Hio do they do a great
job with with our goal attending AndI think they They're constantly in work,
they work on his technique and they'renot trying to change him into some like
cookie cutter goalie. They stick withhis strengths and give him the confidence that
he knows you going to make asave. And he's a confident kid.

(04:26):
Like I said, um, andI think one of the main things is
his fitness level has gotten better.Um, so he can you know,
sustain the same type of explosiveness throughouta sixty minute game. I'm able to
make those saves later like he didtoday in the in the in the small
area games we played late the guysthat a long day to day and he
was still going to post to postno problem. Tyke Lever was in and

(04:47):
out of your lineup, but yousee from him in the is rookie here
and what does he need to doto become more of a full time age
player. Yeah, you know he'sgot a ton of energy. Um,
he creates some real chaos out there, works really hard. H what really
will like by his teammates, Um, and he goes to the net.
I think with him, it's justcontinued to progress his execution and raising the
level of that and really kind ofdefining his game and what he's doing to

(05:13):
be successful sticking to that, notveering and trying to be, you know,
a different type of player than what'sgonna help him at it be his
best. So, yeah, hehad he made a lot of steps.
He might have been a most improvedplayer throughout the season, but you know
he's got a lot of ross skillsjust need to be kind of molded a
bit. Circling back to Samon movingforward with him, what qualities does he

(05:35):
have to allow him to the pictureand potentially be a professional center? He
started a transition later in his juniorcareer. Bit, Yeah, you know
what allows him maybe potentially fill thatposition for you guys, Yeah, he's
a moose. I mean he canhe can battle down low with anybody and
he wins those battles most of thetime. So whether it's in the defensive
end or the offensive end down low, he's just really hard to play against.

(06:00):
Get the puck from him. Andthen when he's defending, he's just
he defends hard, um and that'sone of the things with the center,
and we can defend as well ashe does, and then he's able to
get the puck in distribute and keephis feet moving. I think that's what
we liked a lot about putting himin the in the middle of the ice.
He's just, Um, he's acompetitor and there's not too many guys
like as a young player in theAmerican we haven't seen too many guys hang

(06:24):
on a park as long as hehas below the dots with big guys on
him, you know. So um, we really like that, and then
how he defends his commitment to it. Some early impressions of Brady and first
time seeing him, Yeah, he'sa he's a good, good player.
I mean, I don't have atime. It's you know, one session
we had the skating session yesterday whereI watched, Um, you could see

(06:46):
some of the skill and sorry, some of the skill in the in the
small games there but there's so manybodies out there right now. I think
just talking to the scouts and everyonethat drafted is really excited to have a
player of his caliber coming to theorganization. And it'll be a little bit
longer before I more than a oneye fifty five minute practice before I give
you a full evail. But youknow, from what I could see early,

(07:09):
just talented young kid who who isreally eager and he's extremely happy to
be in Pittsburgh. What are yourconversations with Kyle Dubis been like so far?
I know he oversaw winners with theToronto Marley's and even Newfoundland Growlers.
What's he expect from the minor leagueteams to this organization. Well, I
think, you know, we're goingto do our best and to put together

(07:31):
a high, highly competitive team.Um he's a little bit busy right now
since I've been here. There's someother things going on too, so you
know, those conversations have been alot of it's been filtered through Eric Keasley
and um tonk stop Lists and otherguys in the organization. But I know
what the ultimate, uh, theend goal looks like for us. But

(07:54):
I think at this time there's someother you know, there's some other irons
in the fire. You had thedraft coming up, there was the Combine,
there's a draft, there's free agency, so there's a lot going on. Ka
