(00:03):
Sam without getting too in depth fromthe last season, just where are you
right now? How you physically mentallyall that right now today? Well,
I worked a lot of myself inthe past a couple of months, and
uh, right now I'm just ina good good players and just ready to
play hockey. So that's what mattersfor me right now. What's the challenge
of getting back to being a professionalhockey player? Given the time to take
(00:25):
off your workouts, skating all thatstuff, Just how do you get back
on track? I? Um,I think it's just a matter of having
a different mindset of it. Youknow, I didn't play for a couple
of months, so for sure mybody is uh, it's not really used
to that stress again. So Ijust got to be patient with with the
process and I know eventually I'll getback to where it was. So it's
(00:48):
the goal still to be like acenter or do you still see yourself as
a wing? Just how do youview yourself as an NHL player? If
you get to that, it termsup your positions. Well, I know
I can play boats. It's justa matter of where the team wants me
to play. Um, you knowlast year happened to play center. When
they they call me up and itwent pretty well. So if it's the
case again, I'll be I'll beready and the sun the waring, I'll
(01:11):
be ready to big stake away fromthe time you had in Pittsburgh's plus year.
Um no, I think it's uhthe schedules a bit different. You
know, they play every like twogames like two days, and uh they
don't really practice that much compared tothe d h L. So uh that
was one thing that I noticed thatwas different. So, um, you
(01:34):
know, you just gotta be likefor someone that was not really always in
the roster, just so matter've alwaysbeen ready and uh you know, you
never know when when I'm gonna callyour name, So just gotta be ready
and free plays the same you mentionedabout your game game maybe different, Joannice,
(01:55):
I didn't really uh did it thatmuch. It isn't wait much this
season, so um, you knowit's a process and I'm just being patient
with it. So I just wantto too much pressure on on a timeline.
So um, you know, Iknow all the time's gonna take care
of itself, so I could haveupdated that and being competent with it.
What is it like being in anenvironment like this or even a few games
(02:19):
he did have with Wills coming back. Just being a hockey player, being
with who makes things like that? What do you mean? I'm just being
in part of this environment? Isit good to be part of the enviromentrate?
Like? Uh, I play hotI'm three or four years old,
so that's what I like to do. Uh of my life? And you
know, things I mean really changed. What was happy to be at the
(02:40):
rink and be on the ice? Were you giving a raid in some stick
tips? We saw you guys arecomparing your your sticks out there? Was
there? Yeah? I agree? You mean yeah, um no, because
like he just only I think heonly brought it skates to camp, so
all of his spears like new stuff. So he's using stats. Uh.
Stick who was saying that it stickwas so whippy? Because it says if
(03:02):
you're just laughing about it, indeed, think you could be able to compete
for an NHL spot next season comingin the training camp. Came very close
in trying to camp last year.Yeah. Uh, To be honest,
I don't have an answer for you. Um. I'm just being patient with
the process, like I mentioned, and uh, you know, we'll see
where where it takes me. Andif I got to go back to Wells,
(03:23):
they'll be fun. And if Imake a team they'll be fine too.
So, um, I just wantto be better as a person than
um every day and hockey will comesecond after. So it's just a matter
of getting my my health that towhere it was. Every good feeling I
needed to take a couple more becauseof the experience. For sure, it's
(03:46):
gonna help me. Uh. Youknow, I've taste. I've had a
taste of it, so I knowwhat it takes it to be there.
But it's just a matter of beingable to be uh consistent enough to be
able to stay there on a longrun. So uh, you just gotta
show up every day, every everynight to be ready to play and play
your best stuff. Sam having abit of that taste that you just mentioned.
How beneficial was it to kind ofbe around the guys here the moment,
(04:11):
Yeah, for sure, it's alot of learning. You see those
guys work in their tail off everyday and you know they're there's like Crosby
geno Let's actors, the best ofh their generations pretty much. So uh,
you know, it just says it'sjust fun to be around them and
learn from them, and be ableto compete against them in practice and see
them make some really nice plays ingames as well. Soames Sam's back
