Communication Nerd, Good morning, Maggie Rothenberger, President CEO and Executive ELF.

(00:25):
Good morning.

Speaker 2 (00:26):
Hello, and here.

Speaker 1 (00:27):
And headliner for the Partners for Comedy at the Improv
coming up on Wednesday, November sixth at seven pm. Bill Crawford,
Good morning.

Speaker 3 (00:37):
Sir President. Hi, how is everybody good to be here?
All right?

Speaker 1 (00:40):
So, I know you just dropped in briefly to say
hello to these folks. I know you're busy on this Sunday.
Love the folks, So all right now, only I only
got to keep you here a minute. So why what
do you think of the Partners for Quality?

Speaker 3 (00:53):
What I mean, first of all, I love the work
that they do. Second of all, they asked me, which
is a big part of why I'm involved with Partners
for Quality, and I believe this is our third annual.
Now it's an annual show, and we started at Mike
Spier Bar. We moved it to the Improv because, you know,

(01:13):
the demand just got too high. Honestly, like we're we're
doing so good with this comedy show that we wanted
to do it again. And so I have some familiar
friends Jeff Conkle, mister Wednesday. Anybody who listens to DVE
Morning show would know him, and and Sean Collier who
does our movie reviews. These these are veteran comedian friends
of mine. We have some other special guests that are

(01:36):
going to join us at the Improv on November six,
and I can't wait because this show is really fun.
These people are really fun. Everybody that comes out to
support is there to have a good time, and it's just.

Speaker 1 (01:46):
A great getting bigger and bigger of you after Sure
Stadium twenty Bill, thanks for talking body.

Speaker 3 (01:54):
No, it's great to see you guys, and I can't
wait for November six.

Speaker 1 (01:57):
All right, there you go. Hey, Bill hav an awesome weekend.
That was sweet of him to do that, absolutely all right.
So all right, so we're talking about the you know,
the Partners for Quality. You can get tickets at PFQ
dot org. But let's talk about the organization, all right,
Partners for Quality. Tell us everything we need to know,
tell you everything, everything and everything, wow, everything, which I'm

(02:21):
going to be honest. You have so many different facets
of but you do so much, but we do kind
of boil it.

Speaker 2 (02:27):
I will first of all thank you for having us
yet again, and we really appreciate all of your help.
And I'm gonna be honest, this is the CEO. I
think part of the reason why Bill left is because
last year I had, you know, done my little routine
and I think he's scared.

Speaker 1 (02:44):
Yeah, you know.

Speaker 2 (02:45):
Yeah, he a little intimidated. And uh yeah, I got
some lass last year which was a lot of fun.

Speaker 1 (02:51):
That's why I introduced you exactly.

Speaker 2 (02:54):
And not only that, but to be perfectly honest, I
I also have to have a second career because now
you never know, they.

Speaker 1 (03:01):
Go the way the economy is. Yeah, we all need
an extra.

Speaker 2 (03:04):
Big Yeah, that's why we're here for donations right now.
I'm just joking. No, So Partners for I was going
to say Partners for Comedy. Partners for Quality is an organization.
It's a management organization that has subsidiaries underneath it that
do all the good work. So to be honest with you,
while we do work hard, all of our programs are amazing.

(03:25):
So we provide supports to about five thousand people in
Alleghany County and we have actually expanded just recently into
Washington County.

Speaker 1 (03:33):
And who are these people that you help out?

Speaker 2 (03:35):
Yes, there are people with behavioral health and intellectual disabilities.
So we have Milestone Centers which operates both behavioral health
outpatient service coordination along with IDD services which are also
known as intellectual and developmental disabilities. Allegheny Children's Initiative which

(03:56):
helps people under the age of twenty one. And I
know we have children in there, but we know that
twenty year old is not a child. But they have
a long, long history of helping out families in Alleghany County.
And then Citizen Care which only supports people with intellectual
and developmental disabilities and they serve quite a few people

(04:17):
and have community homes in this area. And then of
course we have the Foundation and then Exceptional Adventures, which
is our travel and experience company.

Speaker 1 (04:26):
Now we're going to dig into a little bit, you know,
deeper aways. But let's get back to partners for comedy
benefiting partners.

Speaker 2 (04:34):
Just say this wrong all day equality Right, people are
going to be googling partners for comedy.

Speaker 1 (04:42):
I do all right, Tammy. The show benefits the organization
and tell us everything we need to know about the
comedy show. We just we just had Yeah w DVEs.

Speaker 4 (04:52):
Bill Crawford is our main headliner with an awesome lineup.
Last year we packed the place. He had so many
great Pittsburgh AIA comics. There was not a dry eye
in the house because they were, you know.

Speaker 1 (05:04):
Laughing, Bill was making them.

Speaker 4 (05:07):
Yeah, I think so hard. But tickets are thirty eight
dollars and you can go on the improv dot com
slash Pittsburgh or you can go of PFQ dot org
and get your tickets. So please come. Uh, it's a
fun time. It's a great venue, and we even have

(05:28):
maybe you'll get a chance to meet some of our
individuals that'll be there because they love to laugh also,
and it's just gonna be a wonderful night. So please come,
please join us.

Speaker 2 (05:36):
Yeah, and I just wanted to piggyback off of that, Tammy.
One of the things that I enjoyed about this, especially
at the Improv, is that they did an amazing job
with table service. So if you just want to come out,
have a glass of wine, a little or derb and laugh,
it is a perfect evening. And that's the part that
I really love. Now, I'm not gonna lie. I had

(05:58):
maybe more than one glass of wine, but we we did.
It was wonderful and we did pack the place and uh,
it was just it was just a great night. And
thirty eight bucks. It starts at seven. I think we
ended up out of there.

Speaker 1 (06:13):
But about nine.

Speaker 2 (06:14):
Yeah, you know, but it was the chairs were comfortable,
you could hear everything, and you were very present, and
you were able to really talk with.

Speaker 1 (06:23):
The The money it was to a good pause.

Speaker 4 (06:25):
All proceeds go to partners for fun Cloth Comedy. I
told you it wasnation and which goes to the individual.

Speaker 1 (06:33):
You do have some fun fundraisers. The last time I
saw you, guys, it was the duc Derby.

Speaker 2 (06:38):
I know, we're going to start talking about those damn
ducks again. It was so windy, but it was a
perfect day. It was beautiful. It was a beautiful, beautiful day.

Speaker 1 (06:46):
Are we going to have the Duck Derby in twenty
twenty five?

Speaker 2 (06:48):
April twenty six, hail Red, Yeah, Oh it's Tammy she
probably has a day for twenty twenty six too, so
you know, yeah, absolutely all right.

Speaker 1 (06:58):
So this money that you you raised with the fundraisers
are the earmark for for certain things or just go yes.

Speaker 2 (07:04):
So one of the things I would urge any of
your listeners if they had any questions to go to
PFQ dot org. Our annual report is online and it
features where this money goes. So every year, our board
of directors at Partners for Quality earmarks about one hundred
thousand dollars that goes right out to the people that

(07:27):
we serve and or their families for anything that they
want not need, We provide the needs. These are called
difference Maker grants and people can apply for the grant
and say, hey, you know what, Unfortunately I don't earn
enough money at my part time job at Giant Eagle,
and I want to get my nails done every two

(07:47):
weeks and that's going to cost two hundred and fifty
dollars a year that I just can't afford. People can
apply for that and a grant from our foundation and
then go get their nails done, and we have provided.
Last year, we act actually maxed out one hundred thousand dollars.
So anything that is coming in of any of our
events or any of our donations, that's where this money goes,

(08:09):
or it goes right out.

Speaker 1 (08:10):
Back to the film once again, let's right where this
money goes. Who are the individuals you have people that.

Speaker 2 (08:16):
Are supported within our agencies with behavioral health, mental needs,
or intellectual and developmental disabilities or autism.

Speaker 1 (08:24):
All right, let's break down some of the agencies in side.

Speaker 2 (08:26):
Okay, so we have Milestone, which operates both behavioral health
and intellectual and developmental disabilities. They're typically in Monroeville on
the eastern side of Alleghany County in Pittsburgh. And then
Citizen Care which is on the western side that provides
people supports to people with intellectual developmental disabilities. And then

(08:47):
Alleghany Children's Initiative actually is based right out of the
South side in Pittsburgh and supports families in the entire
area and in Washington County.

Speaker 1 (08:55):
You cover the whole area.

Speaker 2 (08:56):
We do, we do, it's everywhere.

Speaker 1 (09:00):
We are everywhere, but the Partners for Quality essentially what
you do, you do all the dirty works the agencies
can concentrates.

Speaker 2 (09:08):
Correct, that's correct. We are actually one giant organization, but
we allow we try and make sure that our programs
run their programs and they don't have to worry about
things like it or you know, communications and legal stuff
and hr issues. That's all within us. So that our
programs work on programs to serve people and that's where

(09:30):
all the energy goes.

Speaker 1 (09:31):
Okay, So if somebody is looking to help you out,
maybe you know they aren't able to go to Partners
for Comedy, which the event is coming out at the
Improv coming up on November six at seven pm and
get more information.

Speaker 2 (09:43):
Right for thirty eight dollars.

Speaker 4 (09:44):
Right?

Speaker 1 (09:47):
Do you are you looking for? You know, volunteers, you're
looking for maybe somebody who's maybe wants to you know,
be part of the agency.

Speaker 2 (09:54):
What yes, Yeah, I'm gonna let Tammy answer that because
she has a big note here on her her cheat sheet.

Speaker 1 (10:01):
Oh we don't want to take away Tammy start no
no no, oh no no no no.

Speaker 4 (10:05):
Myself myself for our events the foundation and also Exceptional
Adventures area we always have we have different events that
if anybody is interested in volunteering, you can go to
the website and contact us page and we will definitely
get back to you with your answers or with other
events that you could come to also too, if people
want to get involved for this event and not being

(10:27):
able to attend business organizations. We still are always looking
for sponsors, community partner type people too, so again reach
out to our contact us on the web page or
myself at foundation at PFQ dot org. So, yes, anybody
interested if they can't make it, we always have something
going on and need something.

Speaker 1 (10:48):
Well. I don't mean to put you on the spot,
but are there any particular sponsors that have maybe worked
with you with the duck Derby or maybe other guys
you would like to mention?

Speaker 2 (10:57):
Oh, thank you very much.

Speaker 4 (10:59):
All right now out for the comm partners for comedy.
We have USI Insurance back with us who's always with
us at our events, and we also have Blackburn's Physicians
Pharmacy which also you know out with the Duckys and stuff.

Speaker 2 (11:12):
And they help us. Yeah, Blackburns helps us with a
lot of our adaptive equipment that people need and making
sure that the people we support have everything that they need.
USI has has been our insurance broker for many many years.
I'd actually don't even know their start date, but they've
been amazing partners. And let's face it, everybody knows North

(11:34):
Shore Tavern and we are there all the time, so
they kind of sound yeah they really Yeah, they help
us immensely. So yeah, but we're always looking for community
partners and obviously you get you get a little bit
of advertising and you know, for us and with us,
and you know, it just makes you feel better.

Speaker 1 (11:54):
And when you get involved with one of their fundraisers,
you're going to have fun, yes.

Speaker 2 (12:00):
Yes, yeah, yeah, we you know, being in a nonprofit
human services environment, you know, if you're not able to
have fun with the people that we support and with
our staff, then you know what, there's really no point
in you kind of being here. So that's why we
love it. You know, we're all a bunch of jokes
and we try and have a lot of fun. I mean,

(12:23):
this is this is the best part of being in
a nonprofit and serving people.

Speaker 1 (12:27):
All Right, we only have a couple of minutes left,
so again, kind of tell us everything that you guys do.

Speaker 2 (12:32):
Yes, we provide in home supports, we provide community supports,
we provide counseling therapy, all of these things with all
in our agencies. Greg has done an amazing job with
all of our websites. So if you need further information,
PFQ dot org.

Speaker 1 (12:48):
All right, Partners for Comedy to Benefit Partners for Quality
is coming up. All right, Tammy Big Finish, tell us
everything we need to know about the big show coming
up on November sixth.

Speaker 4 (12:58):
November six seven pm Pitch Improv. You can get your
tickets for thirty eight dollars on improv dot com, slash
Pittsburgh or PFQ dot org. Come laugh with us.

Speaker 1 (13:08):
All right. So this is the third year.

Speaker 4 (13:10):
Third annual with Billy Crawford as our headliner.

Speaker 1 (13:13):
Brings his friends. Oh ye all in Pittsburgh. The mirth
and merriment all provided, and Maggie's doing.

Speaker 2 (13:18):
A yeah, and you get to see me try and
be a comedian for five minutes.

Speaker 1 (13:23):
It last year.

Speaker 2 (13:24):
I did, I did.

Speaker 1 (13:25):
I wrought the house down.

Speaker 2 (13:26):
Yeah I did. I did. I was very excited to
be there, and uh, it was really neat being up
on stage. So you can tell I'm a pretty big introvert,
so it was really difficult for me to get up
and talk to everybody.

Speaker 1 (13:38):
Do you did you write it out or did you know?
I don't.

Speaker 2 (13:42):
Yeah, I didn't pen it out, but I have it
in my head. So I told you earlier before we
got on air that I've been practicing with my husband.
So yeah, so I'm working it out, So come see
whatever I can offer. I mean, Greg is going to
be mortified as somebody who you know, has to kind
of make sure that I'm operating within the boundaries of
the agency, but you know that's his job.

Speaker 1 (14:02):
Partners for Quality, through its family of agency, supports people
by providing services that promote choice, personal satisfaction, and the
realization of their hopes and dreams. Of fantastic organization. You're
here in Pittsburgh, so please get your tickets for Partners
for Comedy at the Improv Wednesday, November six at seven pm.
Get more information on the organization and the comedy show
