Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's time for the news news flash. It's a Rocking
Robin's newsflash.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
We are off on a Thursday afternoon Rock and Robin's
newsplash one on one point five. I'd be a yeah,
fam as, we welcome in Robin Colbert's after a day off.
I was in the big city yesterday. Actually Grover's hometown.

Speaker 1 (00:18):
Oh, Milwaukee. Yeah, Grover is Robin's dog. If you've never
heard that before, we talked about it. Grover Cleveland.

Speaker 2 (00:25):
Yeah, is which president got shot in Milwaukee?

Speaker 1 (00:28):
Was that Teddy? That was Teddy Teddy Roosevelt.

Speaker 3 (00:30):
Yeah, Grover Cleveland so far is the only two term,
non consecutive term president of the United States.

Speaker 1 (00:38):
Oh, look at that little segue. We're going.

Speaker 2 (00:41):
Yeah, we maybe know what we're doing.

Speaker 1 (00:44):
Maybe was that planned?

Speaker 3 (00:46):
No?

Speaker 1 (00:48):
Yeah? Oh love Milwaukee. Yeah, it's fun.

Speaker 3 (00:50):
Yesterday the campaign trail through Wisconsin. Today, it's kind of
a snoozer after all the attention yesterday. Kamala Harris and
Tim Walls campaigning in Oak Claire, as did Trump's VP
pick JD.

Speaker 1 (01:03):
Vance.

Speaker 3 (01:03):
Harrison Walls are campaigning in Arizona today. Not sure if
Vance is still following them. He has been though all
week since they kicked off their campaign together in Philadelphia.

Speaker 1 (01:14):
So go on the latest.

Speaker 3 (01:15):
Marquette poll showing the presidential race in Wisconsin, Yeah, toss
up as far as Donald Trump and Kamala Harris. But
in the US Senate race, incumbent Democrat Tammy Baldwin continues
her lead. She's leading Republican Eric Hovedy by seven points.
On the roads, a fifty four year old Middleton man
arrested on a fifth offense o WI. He was driving

(01:37):
the wrong way on University Avenue. It's happened early yesterday
morning in Middleton. Police say he admitted he had several
drinks and some shots, but then he refused to perform
field sobriety tests.

Speaker 1 (01:50):
Can we just get him the hell off the road? Yeah?

Speaker 3 (01:52):
I knownse oh no, he was driving on a revoked
license and on probation for a prior ow I Sometimes
they just yeah, there's a problem there.

Speaker 1 (02:01):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (02:02):
Madison police investigating after a vehicle was found submerged in
stark Weather Creek. This was late Monday night along Clyde
Gallagher Avenue. Witnesses reported seeing people run from the vehicle
after the crash.

Speaker 2 (02:15):
That's hard to get out of a submerged vehicle too dangerous. Yes,
I've always heard the tip is you want to go
to like the back of the vehicle where that where
the glasses right, Yes.

Speaker 3 (02:24):
And then try to break that out in the back.
But also and you a coworker of our Sean Preeble,
bought me a handy dandy. I think you got a
deal on Amazon one of those window break something who
can break out its tool to break out your window.
Because of course the pressure if you go, you know,
submerge in the water and the pressure you can't get

(02:44):
those windows down, and that can be.

Speaker 1 (02:46):
Let's hope your bug is never submerged. I just take
the top down. I wonder work underwater. Let's not on.

Speaker 3 (02:55):
How about this for a discovery in the Wisconsin River,
A red Pontiac ran was pulled from the river yesterday
and you're the lone rock bridge. It's believed to have
been submerged for over thirty years.

Speaker 1 (03:07):
Wow.

Speaker 3 (03:08):
Yeah, saw County investigators not just trying to figure out
how did it end up there?

Speaker 1 (03:12):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (03:13):
This is hoped like there's no a body in there
because I kind of want to learn more about this.

Speaker 1 (03:18):
A submerged vehicle, what's it it? Stay tuned.

Speaker 3 (03:20):
Madison has the third largest debt increase so far this
year out of one hundred larger cities here in the US.
A new report by wallet hub looked at data points
that included differences and personal and auto loans and credit
card debt. Boston was number one, North Las Vegas number two,
and then good old Madison number three. Winston Salem, North Carolina,

(03:41):
and Detroit had the lowest increases.

Speaker 2 (03:44):
So this wasn't the city of Madison. This is the
people that live in Madison.

Speaker 1 (03:49):
Yeah, not like government debt. Yeah, this is just a person,
got it? Yeah, got it? So fifty years this is
before you were born.

Speaker 3 (03:56):
I remember it, though I was quite small fifty years ago.

Speaker 1 (04:01):
Today this happened.

Speaker 4 (04:02):
Therefore, I shall resign the presidency. Affected at noon tomorrow,
Vice President Ford, we'll be sworn and as president at
that hour in this office.

Speaker 3 (04:19):
Former President Richard Nixon giving that national broadcast address with
a whole Watergate scandal that he would be resigning the presidency.
And I remember that day. Of course. My father, John
Colbert's been in news forever and a day retired a
few years back, but we were living up in Lacrosse,
and I remember him coming home from work that day

(04:39):
and asking me if I knew how to say Gerald Ford.

Speaker 1 (04:44):
Because that was just such a geek.

Speaker 3 (04:46):
But I remember it as a child, sitting there, him
telling me we have a new president.

Speaker 2 (04:52):
And he Jerald Ford, the only president ever to not
be elected.

Speaker 1 (04:56):
Yeah, it's weird. It's going to slid right into that role.
He did a fun fact. But that's crazy. Fifty years
fifty years today. Wow, sometimes I feel like things never changed. Oh,
this is kind of time.

Speaker 3 (05:08):
This is kind of fun as far as fun with politics.
So Steve Martin is ending speculation over whether he's going
to return to SNL to play Tim Walls. Oh, he
would be a great he would be, but he says
he's not really an impressionist. And so I think somebody
else another name that's been tossed out. I think this
one is even better. Jim Gaffkin. Oh okay, I could

(05:30):
totally see him. Yeah, and Tim Walls, and then for
jd Vance, Zach galifan Akus that.

Speaker 1 (05:38):
Would be a good fit. Yeah, the Hangover movies, Yeah,
that would.

Speaker 3 (05:41):
I can see that happen. Well, it's my uh Maya
Rudolph and she has said that. Yeah, she says she's
signing back on to uh to do some more. Kamala,
do you screw that up? I do that all the time.
I have to remember if somebody like you just you
just said it right now, so horrible if I just
follow with that.

Speaker 1 (06:01):
But no, I've gotten pretty used to what you said.

Speaker 3 (06:04):
Nearly probably every day, I say ad a bajillion times
the day.

Speaker 1 (06:07):
These days. She was an avity Rockheit. So yeah, Kamala, Kamala,
do remember that? Kamala?

Speaker 2 (06:12):
All right?

Speaker 1 (06:12):
I got it.

Speaker 2 (06:13):
Thank you, Robin coming back, def lemparn Stevie, Geita Miller Rush.
