Speaker 1 (00:00):
The a team.

Speaker 2 (00:00):
On a Wednesday edition of the program Sports Talks seven nineties,
we take you up until six o'clock tonight, kind of
transitioning out of Astro's tenth Inning Show into Bigger Fish
to fry. At the moment, it's the Rockets, it's the Warriors,
it's the playoffs for the fifth time Rockets Warriors getting

(00:23):
together in a post season series twenty fifteen. We were
also innocent back then as the Rockets. Actually, really that
playoff run was so much fun because that involved the
comeback against the Clippers, trouncing the Dallas Mavericks in five
games prior to that, and then you.

Speaker 1 (00:42):
Found yourself in the Western Conference five.

Speaker 3 (00:43):
The MAVs know that defense wins championships, then are they
just learning it now?

Speaker 2 (00:47):
No, they got their one one off championship with Dirk
and they'll never win another one again. I'm very confident
in saying that, especially in light of recent events. They're
so much further away after going to the finals.

Speaker 1 (01:01):
Last year than they need to be.

Speaker 3 (01:03):
So when the Rockets win the West this year in
Game six in Houston against Oklahoma City does like I'm
trying to think of somebody that would have even been
there for it.

Speaker 1 (01:15):
In the organization.

Speaker 3 (01:17):
No, uh, I'm trying. I'm running through there. Oh does PJ.
Washington get flown to Houston to give them the Western
Conference Championship trophy?

Speaker 1 (01:26):
Let's see, Wait a second, what's the equivalent.

Speaker 3 (01:30):
Well, I'm just saying the Mavericks are the defending Western
Conference champions. So when the Rockets win the Western Jacket thing?
Does do they need to find somebody with the map
to represent the Mavericks? There was there then and still
there now.

Speaker 1 (01:43):
Nico Harrison, I don't.

Speaker 3 (01:45):
Really want to see. I mean, I don't think he'd
be well received receive here.

Speaker 4 (01:49):
They would start chanting keep Nico, give him a standing ovation.

Speaker 2 (01:53):
Yeah, I think any team not in Dallas fan base
would do that.

Speaker 1 (01:57):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:57):
So twenty fifteen five games the playoffs between the Rockets
and the Warriors.

Speaker 1 (02:03):
That means the Rockets one, just one of them. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (02:06):
I'll never forget though, James Harden the shot of him
going into the locker room and throwing down a it
was like a like a curtain, like a in their building.
Uh huh yep, because they were it was a closed loss.
It's actually a very spacious area.

Speaker 3 (02:25):
It's similar to how the how Toyota Center is set up,
except that brick wall leading right to the visitors locker
room isn't there. There's a big long walkway for both
teams home and road, but a huge open area which
is where they put all the additional media. They're much larger.
Here's your food for the night war the media. It's
all down there. But as he's making his way out,

(02:46):
there's a curtained off area where they set up workout
areas for the visiting team, the Rockets, you know, their
training table and some of the other things. And you
got a little bit better glimpse of it when the
little when it was knocked over.

Speaker 2 (02:59):
Let's say, yeah, Yetta, remember that was Jason Terry at
the end of his line, Pablo Prigioni. There were guys
that were you know, that was Jay Smooth, Terrence Terrence.
Is it Danny Williams.

Speaker 3 (03:13):
I don't think he was on the playoff team. He
might have been an eighteen nineteen rocket. Now I'm talking
about twenty fifteen.

Speaker 1 (03:20):
I mean a twenty fifteen sixteen rocket.

Speaker 2 (03:23):
Maybe I'm I'm thinking of a different but anyway, point
of all that was Dwight Howard. That was James Harden.
What we didn't know is that the monster was just
waking up in the Bay Area because the next year
was when they were just unbelievably good and the Rockets
and Dwight Howard and James Harden were in the midst
of a divorce and that was going to be a
forty one and forty one club that was the eighth

(03:45):
seed and just squeaked out on the final day and
just got trounced.

Speaker 3 (03:48):
And it was even more unfortunate in that they got
blown out in the two games. Steph Curry did play,
He only played in two games, and he barely played
those games.

Speaker 2 (04:00):
What they were, but they were, and they were about
to add Kevin or they did add Kevin Durant that offseason.
So and then they go on their run. The Rockets
retool for a year. They have the awful loss to
the Spurs in twenty seventeen where James Harden got blocked
by stupid ass Monogenobili and then no showed in the
very next game at home as they rolled over and
died against a Spurs team that then lost Kawhi Leonard

(04:24):
because ja Ja Pacculia injured him.

Speaker 1 (04:27):
Funny how that always happened to the rules. Yeah, it
did change the rules.

Speaker 2 (04:30):
It also changed the trajectory of yet another Warriors title
run or tried to a title run.

Speaker 3 (04:36):
Because it's not like somebody's gonna get hurt in every
postseason game they play, But so far it's happened, It's
happened in every series. Well, I'm being serious to this year. Yeah,
they played one game post regular season. I won't call
it a playoff game.

Speaker 2 (04:49):
But was praying to the sports guys sacrificing all sorts
of limbs on other teams.

Speaker 1 (04:55):
They have made a deal with the devil.

Speaker 2 (04:57):
Every single time they won a championship, they have had
massive injuries to multiple opponents.

Speaker 1 (05:03):
So let's people act like that's not a factor. It
just no.

Speaker 3 (05:06):
They just forget about it, And so does How do
you forget about it? Because all you know, every year.

Speaker 2 (05:11):
The best player or one of the best players on
several of the teams you beat to get there.

Speaker 1 (05:16):
That's a thing.

Speaker 3 (05:17):
Well, what I've said to keep people from trying to
remember all the minutia of it is injuries in the
postseason in the NBA are a humongous determining factor as
you make your way through trying to win four series.
If you're really, really good, you still probably caught a
break on an injury. You still probably caught a break
with a call or multiple versions of both. Even if

(05:38):
you're very good, it's not to say you might not
have won anyway, you're that good.

Speaker 2 (05:42):
And if it turned and it turns out that when
Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson go down, apparently Steph Curry's
not superhuman and couldn't carry them to a title because
he was the greatest player ever against the Toronto Raptors.

Speaker 1 (05:52):
This is gonna be so much fun.

Speaker 2 (05:54):
Oh, I know, I'm gonna have a heart attack because
I'm so sick of this franchise and the it's it's
fine if you win, but like, just acknowledge some of
what's being said that's rooted in absolute truth in facts,
not just the injuries. But let's fast forward to the
injury to Chris Paul in twenty eighteen, which was only
the second most bitter pill to swallow for Rockets fans

(06:15):
in that series, because Game six and especially seven were
completely slanted by terrible officiating.

Speaker 3 (06:21):
And we really missed all the threes and close enough
to win, right, Both of them without.

Speaker 1 (06:25):
One of them on the road.

Speaker 2 (06:26):
Ye, So I can't if a if a series is
going to be that tightly contested after the second best
player on one of the teams is out and then
you add not one, but two god awful officials to
a Game seven that's in Houston and they've got a
double digit lead, and then dumbass Warriors fans are just

(06:50):
gonna say we shouldn't missed twenty seven street deep poys
like it's so arrogant actually and based in complete and
utter just disdain for what actually happened to just act like,
oh yeah, full strength Rockets would beat them again. That's
what they did though, And then in twenty nineteen, honestly,
the whole run it back thing, I don't know, like,

(07:10):
how would you characterize that loss, because I know Kevin
Durant got hurt in the middle of that series, and
really you could argue hasn't been the same since from
a physical standpoint, even though he's still very good, good
enough to maybe trade for him this offseason here in Houston.
But it's just you knew when eighteen went down the
way it did, it just never felt like and James

(07:32):
Harden was better in nineteen.

Speaker 1 (07:34):
That's the crazy part.

Speaker 3 (07:35):
Yeah, if the first four games had gone a little
bit more of your way and it was still two
to two, but you had a chance to win all
four of them, and you managed to win Game three
in overtime here and win Game four, and you had
a chance to win game five, maybe I should have
just said that if you could have gotten game five, which.

Speaker 1 (07:51):
They came fast. Typically is the series they didn't a lot.

Speaker 3 (07:54):
You played a six game series against a team that
clearly had your number, clearly was the best team in
basketball and was likely to play for the title. All
six games were super close, decided by six to.

Speaker 1 (08:09):
A seventh game. I know.

Speaker 2 (08:10):
But that's why when you say they have your number, player,
like you said they when you say they have your number,
technically that is true because they're always winning. But to
me that almost screams, don't you don't have a chance,
because it's just a foregone conclusion. But what you just
said after that tells me no, Like the Rockets were
in all these games, just like this year, single digit games.

(08:31):
The biggest win in this season series belongs to the Rockets,
and it was a double digit victory.

Speaker 3 (08:36):
It does the one thing about it feels like what
you're describing what I'm saying, how it feels like it
you can't beat them, that they it's a foregone conclusion
that why bothers show up? That is also true, why
bothers show up? You played them four times, they beat
you all four times. You're right they you're not going
to beat them. And the Rockets happen to be the
team if I'm not mistaken, that saw them more than

(08:58):
anybody else during that time period.

Speaker 2 (09:00):
Yeah, they were also the only team that had even
a remote chance of beating them other than a full
strength Cleveland Cavaliers team. Funny, when two of their other
three best players weren't sidelined, they won.

Speaker 3 (09:11):
Imagine that it is an ancient history because the head
coach is still there, two of their five starters are there,
and they both still matter. But this Rocket side of
things is just so dramatically different. All they know about
this series is when they all arrived, nobody had beaten
the Warriors in a Rockets uniform except for Jeff Green,

(09:33):
and that was going back to last year when Eme
got here, When Jalen and Alpino, nobody's beaten the war
none of them and they went through an entire year
last year without beating the Warriors.

Speaker 1 (09:41):
They broke that. So they aren't a lot of other
teams they were five hundred.

Speaker 3 (09:45):
Oh well, yeah, the quality of their basketball team clearly
has changed, but specific to this team, a lot of
history here, generically speaking. That's why we start with this
because we got several days not only before the series starts,
but in between games one and two, and in between
games two and three. There's only series in the NBA.

(10:07):
We'll leave you with this for the next two hours.
There were two series of the eight that they set
up where there was dramatic rest time at the beginning
of the series. They'll play Sunday night, they'll play Wednesday night,
and then they will play on Saturday after travel. So
that's two days off in between both of those sets

(10:29):
of games and the two series they gave those times
to those dates to include the Los Angeles Lakers and
their old out of shape drunk Corps just to pile
on the Luca Dallas nonsense, and the old Golden State
Warriors led by two of the oldest really good postseason

(10:49):
players in twenty twenty four twenty five. We'll see if
it matters but by being in the seven eight game,
Golden State gets four days off before the series.

Speaker 1 (10:58):
It's gonna matter.

Speaker 3 (10:59):
Then they're gonna get two days off in between each
of those games. The end of the series, if you've
kept it to say two to one or two to two,
well then you'll get into the normal mode of playing
just about every other day and we'll see what happens
at that point. We've got days days. I tell you
to hear from you guys and to talk about what's
going on in this series and in this welcome back
to the playoffs. Very good Houston Rockets team right here

(11:23):
on your home for Rockets basketball Sports Talk seven.

Speaker 5 (11:25):
Ninety the A teen on Sports Talk seven ninety two
lifelong Houston sports guys named Adam talking your team.

Speaker 6 (11:41):
Adam Clinton and Adam Wexler are the eighteen eighty a.

Speaker 1 (11:54):
It's a Wednesday issue of the program.

Speaker 2 (11:56):
It's Sports Talks seven ninety four o'clock hour underway.

Speaker 1 (11:59):
We will take you until six o'clock tonight.

Speaker 2 (12:02):
As we've kind of transitioned out of Astros Baseball of
the losing variety Astros falling in the finale the rubber
match today up in Saint Louis four to one.

Speaker 1 (12:14):
Newt Bar.

Speaker 2 (12:15):
He was a thorn in the Astros side during this
series and particularly today. Three run home run wound up
being basically the difference in a four to one loss
where the Astros offense, yet again Knemick is being kind,
and they dropped two out of three in Saint Louis.
They've got the Padres coming up this weekend, as they'll
have the off day tomorrow, Padres will be here in town.

(12:38):
But man, the Astros offense could really use an injection
of I don't even know what you would call it
at this point. It's just the pitching is absolutely good
enough to get the job done, even the bullpen at times,
but the offense has just not done much of anything
out of the gate, save for a couple of different
occasions where they've blown up.

Speaker 1 (12:57):
In one of those whoa what happened there?

Speaker 2 (12:59):
Kind of nights, we talked a lot about the fact
that the Rockets and the Warriors last segment, Rockets and
the Warriors getting together for the umpteenth time. I think
I'm struck by how many people in the It's crazy
to think that it's been five years last time these
two got together or More importantly, the last time the
Rocks were in the playoffs.

Speaker 3 (13:19):
Twenty nineteen the last time they played in the playoffs,
and twenty.

Speaker 2 (13:22):
Twenty in the bubble was the last time they were
in the postseason because that was the Lakers, which is
who will await you in all likelihood in the next
round if they take care of business against the Timberwolves
and you beat the Warriors, so you're gonna have back
to back nauseating. The NBA clearly would prefer this team
when this series matchups, makes.

Speaker 1 (13:41):
It even sweeter if it doesn't happen.

Speaker 4 (13:43):
Yeah, you know what I I gotta say, I think
it's I think it's disingenuous to be utterly dismissive of
that type of thing. I was talking to somebody about
this today, and you know, Scott Foster's gonna walk through
the door at some point.

Speaker 1 (13:59):
Maybe he's healthy. What do you mean, you got hurt
this year? You got hurt here in Houston. Actually is
he out still? He hasn't.

Speaker 3 (14:06):
I don't believe he's refereed to games since it was
one of the games I was doing in March. I believe,
and I noted during the broadcast, Scott Foster's walking to
the back.

Speaker 1 (14:16):
What was the injury. I think he hurt his calf,
so it was like a strain.

Speaker 4 (14:21):
I mean, I don't know that they are official for
the officials.

Speaker 2 (14:25):
We should we should have those in the NBA and
really in any league, especially if it's somebody that they
consider one of their best and therefore is going to
be out there for very important games. But I just
you know, I have a fundamental problem with and you've
you and I have talked about this at nauseam before
the fact that you know Tim donahe and what happened
with him. Scott Foster is on record as texting him

(14:48):
hundreds of time in and around the games in question,
and he's still employed by the league. That's a fascinating
aspect of this whole thing to me. And he's still
in the middle of all of these pivotal games that
you know, basically teams like the Rockets and other non darlings.

Speaker 1 (15:10):
At the moment.

Speaker 2 (15:11):
I'm not saying the Rockets couldn't become any media darling,
but currently they are not. They do not employ Steph Curry,
they do not employ Lebron James.

Speaker 3 (15:18):
I think it would be almost impossible for them to
become a media darling. Why because they're in Houston? Like,
how bad would the Lakers?

Speaker 2 (15:27):
What were the Warriors before this era? They were just
a team in California?

Speaker 3 (15:30):
But right nobody I didn't say totally impossible, yeah, and
that they could be very difficult.

Speaker 2 (15:35):
All it takes is you drafting, Like Cleveland was never
a darling until Lebron got there.

Speaker 1 (15:40):
How about san Antonio is never going to be a darling? True?

Speaker 3 (15:44):
Even with a player that the NBA would love to
have on a team that is considered a darling.

Speaker 1 (15:49):
But doesn't.

Speaker 2 (15:49):
This is what This is another thing that's fascinating to
me about the NBA. You're clearly a distant third right
now in the Big three? You are, okay, don't you agree?

Speaker 1 (16:00):
Sure? Yes, absolutely so. In NFL's not in.

Speaker 3 (16:03):
Terms of how much money they keep bleeding out of
their TV partners.

Speaker 4 (16:06):
But I get it, that's just Stat's like picking up
the phone for a Luca trade.

Speaker 2 (16:10):
It's not the NBA's fault that somebody's doing that. Why
wouldn't you take the money?

Speaker 3 (16:14):
And the thing is everybody's doing it. Do you have
a network, a streaming platform? Throw your money at us
please and they're all doing it.

Speaker 2 (16:21):
Yeah, yeah, But I like, I just feel like if
you're like, Okay, for example, right or the Yeah, the
Rockets somehow get the number one pick in the draft
and they draft Cooper Flag, Well, that's a guy that
I think, at least for the first year.

Speaker 1 (16:38):
I mean, we see how it goes on that level.

Speaker 2 (16:40):
The NBA, I mean, they're desperately wanting to inject star
power into the league because Lebron and Steph aren't gonna
play forever. They're both gonna be gone in the next
five years theoretically, and then it might be still around.
Steph might be, but I doubt it. No, you won't
be uh and Lebron certainly won't be. So you've gotta
you gotta do something like is SGA going to carry

(17:02):
your league? Especially in the market he's in.

Speaker 3 (17:05):
This is a big problem for them, and I don't
know how much it has to do with Houston. I
also don't think maybe Zion and Victor, but pretty much
everybody else is just a good player.

Speaker 1 (17:16):
Cooper Flag, to me, is just a good player.

Speaker 3 (17:18):
He's not a we need this player to succeed because
we absolutely can't wait to have him as our marquep guy.

Speaker 1 (17:23):
It puts butts in seats.

Speaker 3 (17:25):
Except for one element of him, which is different from
the last one. Two three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve, thirteen, fourteen, fifteen.
Tell me when to stop, say stop stop, Okay, I'll stop.
Before I get to a foreign player with very very
light skin color, I think we have to at least
acknowledge it might make a difference to them in this case,

(17:47):
in that Cooper flag is white.

Speaker 1 (17:50):
Because of Caitlin Clark, and what's happened in the WNBA.

Speaker 3 (17:52):
Has nothing to do with Caitlin Clark because of the
way that the players, the teams, and the league have
handled that is effingly embarrassing.

Speaker 4 (17:59):
Yes, I don't think this league would do that continues
to by the way.

Speaker 1 (18:03):
That's that's a it's a conversation.

Speaker 3 (18:05):
I'm somewhat happy we don't speak about because I wouldn't
even know where to begin.

Speaker 1 (18:10):
How they've they've done.

Speaker 3 (18:11):
It's here's something to make and yeah, I'm just not
sure that the Rockets will end up in that spot.
But all this stuff doesn't really matter to the basketball
or inside the locker room or inside the arena, except.

Speaker 1 (18:23):
It matters to the fans.

Speaker 3 (18:24):
That's why we bring it up so often, the knowledge
that we shared with you before last night's Memphis Golden
State game. By the way, Golden State won last night
one twenty one, one sixteen.

Speaker 2 (18:36):
They had advanced, barely held off the Grizzlies. By the way,
that is an accurate portrayal of how that game went.

Speaker 3 (18:43):
Yeah, they played two men. They played two against five
and then four when Jah got hurt, and there two
were better than the Grizzlies four. Because for much of
that time. Uh, there's a lot of reasons why the
Grizzlies made far too many mistakes after they'd played well
enough to stay in the game and come back and
tie the game and take the lead.

Speaker 1 (19:01):
It's not just the turnovers, it's how bad they were.

Speaker 3 (19:03):
You can't the turnovers they had the beginning of the game,
you know, the first fifteen or so, just so bad.
And then the free throws that were missed late in
the game or in the fourth quarter. Can't have that,
and you probably want to go ahead and inbound the basketball.

Speaker 4 (19:15):
You got, you gotta throw the ball in. It was
a six second violation, not one of.

Speaker 3 (19:19):
The four mistakes. According to the last two Minute report,
that were made in the game. It was inaccurately timed
roughly six seconds for Santy to hang onto the basketball
and not inbounded the down three coming out of a timeout, couldn't.

Speaker 1 (19:33):
Get the ball in bounce.

Speaker 3 (19:34):
Game over essentially, But yes, I think that's a fair assessment.
They think there's a huge element, one thing that took
place in that game last night that matters in this
series coming up between the Rockets and the Warriors. I'll
save that for an upcoming segment, but I think it's very,
very important if you were watching closely last night, but
the Warriors got a monster effort from the player they

(19:55):
sought to make this team way way better. If not
for the Luca trade, everybody would be talking about this trade,
at least I would think they would, and I certainly
would be, and I was at the time. They traded
away a whole hummer a plus level. He's not average
Andrew Wiggins and got an elite player. He's still is.
He not playing at an elite level. He somehow managed

(20:17):
to play better in the playoffs for most of his
career and when he gets to the playoffs, because last
yesterday was not a playoff game, was a play in game.
He'll probably play at that level. But try to walk
yourself through last night's game with the Warriors team prior
to the Butler trade.

Speaker 1 (20:34):
Memphis is gonna win. Yeah, because Memphis wins that game.

Speaker 3 (20:36):
If they don't make that deal, Steph probably could have
had forty five points.

Speaker 1 (20:39):
Yeah, and they still would have lost.

Speaker 2 (20:40):
Oh but you can till he hit those two clutch
threes late, he was missing much easier shots all over
the court.

Speaker 3 (20:48):
Yeah, mistake made when he hit that three in the
corner and Scottie Pippen Junior ran into him, turned it
into a four point play. He's become a little bit
more I guess of a just jacket up kind of guy.

Speaker 1 (21:00):
Eventually, some of them will go in against the Rockets,
right and you cannot.

Speaker 3 (21:04):
You cannot stay with him for an entire possession, win
the possession and then let him get a scramble offensive
rebound to a wide open Curry. It happens to everybody
a time or two. The Rockets should be much more
capable of preventing that. The Grizzlies were not, and most
teams that play the Warriors are not. They put all
the time and effort into chasing him all over the court,

(21:25):
doesn't get a good look, never even sees the basketball.
You get what you want when Draymond throws up a
ridiculous shot because all of his shots are and they miss.
And then you let Moses Moody run through traffic, grab
the ball, tip it out to Curry thirty five footer, splash, Yeah,
and the place goes berserk.

Speaker 1 (21:41):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (21:41):
And you you're the best rebounding team in the league,
the Rockets.

Speaker 1 (21:46):
You. By the way, we haven't asked this question, and
I know.

Speaker 2 (21:49):
That there's all sorts of stuff to get to until
you know, we get to the opener and throughout the series,
do you start Steven Adams.

Speaker 3 (21:57):
It kind of along the lines at the point I'm
waiting to make all right.

Speaker 2 (22:02):
Well, then we'll make it later on because we do
need to get to the fact that the Texans are
talking about, well, the draft.

Speaker 1 (22:08):
It's a week from tomorrow, believe it or not the
text believe it. The Texans will be drafting new players.

Speaker 2 (22:15):
So we will touch on that when we come back
here on the eighteen, the eighteen.

Speaker 7 (22:22):
On Sports Talk seven ninety what.

Speaker 1 (22:25):
Two three you love me? So it is the eight team.
Sports Talks seven.

Speaker 2 (22:39):
Ninety Brian mctagger's tweet about what the Astros are slashing?
I had quote tweeted it and said, wonder what changed?
Brian wade in and said, well, they were six and
thirteen this time last year, so they got better. I
don't know, man, were the Astros this and em from

(23:00):
just their slashing numbers this time last year?

Speaker 1 (23:02):
No, okay, this is significantly worse.

Speaker 3 (23:05):
But like I said, we talk about them when we
watch them each day and listen to them each day,
like they're four and fourteen and they luckily they're not.
Luckily they're two games under. They've not had a huge
long loose. I mean they got swept in one series.
Every other series has been two games to one the
rest of the way one way or the other. Unfortunately

(23:26):
the one today went the other. And that's why they've
been unable to get back to or obviously above five hundred,
because they refuse to go streaking.

Speaker 1 (23:35):
They are the anti Frank the tank.

Speaker 2 (23:38):
So I hope it's not called outside So are there
is their offense akin to the Astra or the Texans
offensive line from year to year?

Speaker 1 (23:49):
Yeah? That's nasty, isn't it.

Speaker 8 (23:51):
Uh?

Speaker 3 (23:51):
I don't think the Texans could eventually when they got
far enough along. There was no way they were gonna
win with that offensive line. But their offensive line was
clearly worse in twenty twenty four, and they in a
number of different ways. In the most hardcore, concrete way,
they were exactly the same. They won the division with

(24:13):
the exact same record. They manhandled their opponent at home
in the playoffs with the exact same record. They went
on the road in the playoffs and lost, just as
they had done the year before, to the number one sew.
All the things were the same, even though they clearly
got worse. So can the Astros overcome that and produce
the same kind of season with a significantly worse offense

(24:35):
if this plays out this way all year? My answer
is absolutely positively not. No way is this team going
to the postseason as division champions with an offense like this,
No shot, And I don't believe it's going to be needed,
because their offense will not play like this all season.

(24:56):
Eighteen games, you're now a little bit past the ten
percent point, So you got another ten sections of the
season or nine roughly. You just got to play a
whole lot better than this, and you got to put
the ball in play a lot more often. You got
to take advantage when the meat of your order, the
specific players you put in the three spot, the four spot,
the five spot, when you anticipate them to be run

(25:16):
scoring opportunities because the guys in front of them or
at the end of the lineup like Jake are getting
on base for them.

Speaker 1 (25:22):
Well, so far, so bad.

Speaker 3 (25:24):
It's been a festival of not coming through for their three,
four and five hitters for eighteen games.

Speaker 1 (25:30):
Is Nick Serio going to come through for us next week?

Speaker 4 (25:33):
In? Uh?

Speaker 1 (25:34):
Where is it this year? Again? You don't know where
the draft is bad? How dare you? Well? Last year?
When was it in Kansas City? Was that last year? Sure?
Then Nashville? Maybe that was last year.

Speaker 3 (25:45):
I've gone to one road draft, covered it for the
Deuce over in Chicago.

Speaker 1 (25:49):
That's all that I remember.

Speaker 4 (25:50):
I actually will fuller year. Okay, I actually think Green
Bay could be cool. I'm I think it's a very
cool idea. I'm glad they decided maybe we shouldn't only
get sound from dumb Jets fans at every draft because
we only have it in New York. It's nice to
get them from everybody else.

Speaker 1 (26:05):
That's sad sadly act and.

Speaker 3 (26:08):
You can really this is a cool event for the
people that put it on inside the league and all
their partners, because you get to do something a little
bit different, and we've seen some really good venues.

Speaker 1 (26:16):
We've seen some good setups.

Speaker 3 (26:17):
There's good lead up, some of the outdoor stuff they're
able to do in some places, and then you just
get a bunch of fans out there to enjoy what
otherwise could be considered a pretty boring event for the
pace that it goes at, and it does have a
tendency to drag on. I'm sure people that have their
team like second and third round and you're a really
bad team, so the first night, this is awesome. We're

(26:38):
drafting fourth or fifth, sixth, we gotta know who's gonna
change the fortunes of our franchise. Well, you're probably picking
early in the second and third round also, and you
might just not have quite as much excitement over that
next caliber of player, but probably enjoy it. Nonetheless, Green
Bay this year the site something we've been doing throughout
the days leading up to the draft, and we have
the benefit of also getting to hear from Nick Cassario

(27:01):
bring some of that audio to you in a very
literal version of Wednesday's BS coming your way at the
bottom of the hour. But each and every day leading
up to the draft, so until next Thursday, we'll give
you a player that we do believe could land on
the Texans in the first round. Should nothing change, we'll
leave it to col to tell us.

Speaker 1 (27:23):
We're the bit pick in the twenty five draft.

Speaker 9 (27:29):
The Houston Texans select.

Speaker 4 (27:32):
Gray Zabel, offensive linemen out of North Dakota State. Now
to preface this, when I did my research this before
the press conference, there's a little quote in there that
comes on about small school players. But let's just go
ahead and talk about Grey's Abel, who did visit with
the Texans last week. Number one toughest nails, dude. Dude
is gonna be able to give you quality reps on

(27:54):
the inside or on the outside. Hey A, see, you
know how you talk about how god awful this off line.

Speaker 1 (28:00):
Is, Well, yes he can fix it at one of
multiple spots.

Speaker 4 (28:04):
You want to how I know this because if he
played four different positions during his time when he was
at North Kota State. A North Dakota State Bison roster
that recently won yet another FCS national titles. So think
of like Alabama or like teams you know that are
really good at winning something that I know Texas fans
don't know about really right now, that is what North
Kota State is at the FCS level. Great anchor, good

(28:27):
small hips, able to work upfield as great as a
run blocker, exceptional and pass protection. The number one offensive
linemen in pass pro regardless of FBS or FCS level.
He doesn't lose sight of his target and best of all,
he does a good job of setting blocks, sustaining blocks,
and not letting anybody get in the backfield.

Speaker 1 (28:46):
One of the best pass protectors in this year's draft.

Speaker 4 (28:49):
But there is a caveat and a major caveat here,
and it all comes down to the fact that, yeah,
Nick Casserio not really down with drafting the smaller school players.
In fact, ninety percent of the time actually has to
go through the evaluation when it comes to selecting guys
that weren't playing at the FPS.

Speaker 9 (29:10):
Regardless of how much a player has or has not played,
there's obviously going to be an adjustment period that takes place.
So is there an opportunity to evaluate that, Like you
said in the Senior Bowl or East West or something
like that. I mean, I'd say those two games done
a pretty good job of maybe bringing in some lower level,
smaller school players. But it's it's a huge jump, there's
no question about it. So how are they going to

(29:31):
handle it? So you have to again, it's all right,
here's the player, here's what we think he does.

Speaker 4 (29:36):
Well.

Speaker 9 (29:37):
You might have to not downgrade it based on a
level of competition, but there's a difference. You know, what
the guy does against the LSU versus what he does
against you know, Western Tennessee State or something like that.
If that's who they're playing every week, you're not going
to eliminate a player. But you know, not every player
can make that jump. So I mean it's case by case,
like a lot of this is. But there's a projection

(29:59):
element that.

Speaker 3 (30:00):
When he says you aren't going to eliminate that type
of player, he means everybody else. I guess because he,
to be literal, has absolutely eliminated that player. There has
not been a single player drafted in the Nick Cassario
era that would fall into the category of he played

(30:20):
at North Dakota State or the like, no matter how
great he was no matter how great his tape is,
no matter how great he might have performed in postseason scenarios,
no matter how well he grades out physically during testing
at Combine or Pro Days and all of that stuff.

Speaker 1 (30:36):
I think this would.

Speaker 3 (30:37):
Cover the four worst football programs he's drafted a player from.
And I don't mean them any insult because they're actually
good programs, but from Texans Casario draft history, if I
had to rank him, somebody's going to end up near
or at the bottom. Pittsburgh He's drafted one player from Stanford.

(31:00):
He's drafted two players from Sorry fort Worth. I'll say TCU,
and I don't mean it because they were in the
playoffs during the Nick Cassario era, so I have a
hard time including them on that list. And I guess
I'll add Oregon State. These are top flight major programs,

(31:22):
tons of NFL player history for all of them at
different periods of their respective universities. And that's the very
very bottom of the barrel caliber college program They've drafted
from Alabama players left and right, multiple players from most
of the biggest, baddest, most successful universities. And we're also

(31:42):
talking about an offensive lineman here.

Speaker 1 (31:45):
He can be one of your leaders.

Speaker 3 (31:47):
He's not somebody that you're wondering, well, I don't know
if he's going to be able to handle this in
this situation. You want to know if CJ. Stroud can
handle things in this situation here. You want to know
if some players can really get through this big game scenario,
if your offensive lineman is good enough to beat up
NFL players when it gets to game or Week eighteen

(32:07):
you need to win, or when it gets to a
playoff game you need to win. I'm sure that player
will be just fine, but Nick's never done it. He's
literally never drafted. It doesn't mean he won't, but he's
never done it.

Speaker 4 (32:18):
Let me just say real fast, if he had an
Alabama logo instead of a North Coosta State logo, number
one player on Nick Asserio's born, I almost can guarantee it.

Speaker 2 (32:27):
But the competition that that player has played against is
significantly better.

Speaker 3 (32:31):
I'll give you a trivia question on that. Forty starts
in his career over his five seasons, he's twenty three
years old, he played against one team in the FBS.
What one team in those forty starts did he play against?
It's in the FBS. It was not Kansas. It's a

(32:53):
university that has just now gotten into the business of
retiring numbers.

Speaker 1 (32:59):
Oh it was college last year or two years ago.
It was last year. Yeah, Colorado.

Speaker 3 (33:03):
That's the only team that North Dakota State played during
his starts over the last five years at the FBS level. Again,
there are smaller colleges or small college players in the
NFL all over the place.

Speaker 1 (33:17):
Randy Moss, Steve McNair.

Speaker 4 (33:20):
The greatest wide receiver to ever exist, came from Mississippi
Valley State. Yes, I mean those are outliers, right, but
it's outliers. But when he I think he will, I'm
okay backing not only this pick for Houston, but backing
the simplistic idea of Greysabel is going to be a
plus level, ten year starter for whichever team drafts him.

(33:42):
When you look right now at teams like Denver and
Seattle and Los Angeles all doing their due diligence homework
on a guy like Greysabel, and they're picking ahead of you,
why is he not worthy of.

Speaker 1 (33:54):
The twenty fifth pick?

Speaker 3 (33:55):
If you are Nic Cassario, yeah, I'm a little bit
I do question what he might best be suited for
and you laid it out. He started at four different positions.
Last year, he was their left tackle. The two years prior,
the majority of his starts came at right tackle. He
also has starts at right guard and left guard. Size Wise,
I don't think there's any problem. I'm not sure that

(34:15):
they'll get into the stupid conversation of his hand size
and wingspan. But when you're talking about tackles, some NFL
teams like to weigh that far too much. I would
call him on the smaller side and both of those categories,
but not enough to wear up. Can't play him out
on the edge. His wingspan's too small or his arms
are not big enough. I just don't believe that's the

(34:36):
determining factor towards success and failure. If you know how
to block, your technique is good, your power is strong,
your base is good, your footwork you'll be fine.

Speaker 1 (34:46):
I don't know what he is.

Speaker 3 (34:47):
I honestly do not know what position he's best suited
for in the league. And of course, if you're talking
about the Texans new O line coach, new OC and
eight billion new offensive linemen, I have no idea where
he even begin as a Houston Texan next year, if
with the twenty fifth pick in the twenty twenty five
NFL Draft, the Houston Texans select North Dakota State offensive

(35:10):
lineman Gray's Abel. One thing I did see in Dane
Brugler's guide on draft picks, which is outstanding, the best
that probably stands out to Texans followers and people inside
the organization, coach and NFL scout, random NFL scout.

Speaker 1 (35:28):
It's a good thing. So I don't have to hide
his identity.

Speaker 3 (35:30):
But he did said this about Zabel, football, farming, and
his family. Not sure he cares about much else. That's
what you want in lineman on either side. Like it's
straight off of the offensive lineman dinner and they handed
out T shirts.

Speaker 1 (35:47):
This is what it would say on it.

Speaker 4 (35:48):
Or defensive lineman. You want them country fed if you will.
Kate Stower would get an honorary invite to the Onlignement. Obviously,
all right, we will continue comedy with Serio. I'm telling
you now, that is what Wednesday's BS is, and that
is next.

Speaker 1 (36:06):
There's Sports Talk seven ninety.

Speaker 4 (36:07):
You're not gonna wanna miss it.

Speaker 5 (36:10):
The eighteen on Sports Talk seven ninety, A little help
over the hump with some Wednesday BS, two.

Speaker 1 (36:21):
Adams, and a whole lot of bit stealing.

Speaker 5 (36:23):
Bit stealing with the bit stealers better known as the eighteen.

Speaker 3 (36:30):
Yep as you know, maybe it's time for real life
amendment to that open because BS does stand for something
very very specific.

Speaker 1 (36:40):
It's not bit stealing the way we're playing it today.

Speaker 3 (36:43):
We're playing it for what it actually stands for and
just giving you some absolute, total utter nonsense. We got
about forty minutes with Nick Cassario today. It's much appreciated
his time, a little less from the information and encompassing
that forty minutes of conversation. We did get one curse
word from him. I thought that was pretty interesting. I
did not see that one coming. I did not expect

(37:03):
it either. I will share that with you, of course.
Bleeped variety, but comedy is a given. If I want
to find a way to fill up a segment or
an entire show with Nick Cassario sound bites, it won't
be one minute and thirty five second long. Answers about
the process they go through and how they want to
build the team, and how they want to make decisions
that are best for the team, and how he wants

(37:24):
to do everything he can to make this team, you know,
the one that Calan Hannah and the late Bob McNair
can be proud of. He's a servant to the team
and to them, and we get it. We understand how
you feel about your job. But you brought it up
the other day. You know the comments he specifically the
Nick Cassario likes to talk in a certain way, and

(37:45):
you know what would that sound like?

Speaker 1 (37:46):
And what are we going to get tomorrow? Which now
is today?

Speaker 3 (37:48):
So Wednesday's BS is just pure Casario comedy. I have
ten Cassario comments from today. There are all ten seconds
or less.

Speaker 1 (37:58):
Okay, thank goodness.

Speaker 3 (38:00):
Otherwise they're not very funny because there would be in context. Yes,
these are all out of context, or they're gonna make
you head tilt, double take, spit take, or what have you.
So I'll give you the simplest one for those that
are not aware of what's going on and how things
actually play out. On Thursday night, Friday night and Saturday

(38:21):
night next week, the National Football League will hold their
player draft and teams each year well in advance of
the upcoming year. You're gifted one selection per round, and
you can do with those as you please over the
years that reach that draft night, but what actually happens
on that night for this team and every team. Nick
was nice enough to explain that to everybody earlier today.

Speaker 9 (38:43):
There'll be players that pick on Thursdays. There's gonna be
players to pick on Friday. Honestly, there can be players
for us to pick on Saturday.

Speaker 1 (38:50):
Gosh.

Speaker 3 (38:51):
So he's just letting you know this is what can happen.
There will be play the robotics just trying to keep
it the cold, hard facts. Something we talked about yesterday.
The team is re upped with three defensive players with
an extension. They traded for C. J. Gardner Johnson, they
signed EJ. Speed, they signed Sheldon Rankins. They'll probably be

(39:14):
able to absorb the loss of Eric Murray, and they
have a pretty talented group was on its way back.
There'll be some changes, clearly, but there were good and
they're gonna be even better. And I'm not sure about
what the other side of the ball is like, but
we brought up this very fact that he seemed to
agree with, and when he was talking about the twenty
twenty five Houston Texans draft class.

Speaker 9 (39:34):
I'd say, whoever we bring in. I mean, it's gonna
be hard to make this football team.

Speaker 4 (39:39):
You're gonna be the twenty fifth player, their number one
pick has a chance of being cut cut when camp
I mean, that's the root of that statement. That's what
that's saying.

Speaker 1 (39:50):
It's what he's saying.

Speaker 3 (39:52):
But what do you think makes it easier for a
player just to make any NFL team?

Speaker 1 (39:56):
What do they have to have? Talent? Talent?

Speaker 9 (39:59):
This program is mental and physical toughness. It's about competitiveness,
and it's about putting a team first. So the rest
of it, I mean, it's not about talent. I mean,
talent's a part of it, but it's really not about talent.

Speaker 4 (40:10):
So you're both wrong. So that's how he's been drafting
offensive lineman this whole time.

Speaker 3 (40:14):
Yeah, that because he was asked a question very very
specific to the team's evaluation process on their offensive line evaluations.

Speaker 1 (40:23):
But that's meat and potatoes.

Speaker 3 (40:24):
That's real stuff. We'll have to save that for a
little bit later. Now we'll just kind of run through
the excellence of Caserio. This is what gets me at
every press conference he's ever done pre draft. I think
it is so funny that he tries to pull this
one off on everybody.

Speaker 1 (40:40):
Pull this, pull the wool over everybody's eyes. No good
opportunity for us.

Speaker 9 (40:45):
Here, four picks in the top ninety or whatever it
is right now.

Speaker 3 (40:49):
The top ninety or whatever it is right now. I
know you, Nick, I don't just know you're the GM
of this football team.

Speaker 1 (40:56):
I know you.

Speaker 3 (40:57):
Everybody knows you. Whatever it is, he does it every year. Oh,
we got a couple picks in the second or third round,
whatever we have. We're picking twenty six or thirty first,
whatever it is.

Speaker 4 (41:07):
He says it every year about some facet of why
what he absolutely positively knows front and back. He's known
it for weeks. He's into his head. It's up on
every board in their room. Everybody inside the organization knows it.
Everybody he's talked to for the last thirty days knows that.
His wife knows it, his kids knows. Everybody knows it.
We've got three picks in the top ninety or whatever
it is. It's hilarious. Why, I don't know. It's like

(41:30):
a crutch.

Speaker 2 (41:31):
He's funny, right, But is he like is the crutch
that he wants people to think?

Speaker 1 (41:35):
He's not a cybord? I think so I think so
he's trying to fight casual.

Speaker 2 (41:38):
If I'm more relatable or if I say this, I'll
seem more relatable versus a guy who's just.

Speaker 3 (41:43):
And there's always the element of I don't want to
tell you today. On Wednesday, April sixteenth, we have the
twenty fifth pick, the fifty eighth pick, the seventy ninth pick,
and the eighty ninth pick.

Speaker 1 (41:52):
Four picks in the top ninety.

Speaker 3 (41:54):
When they get to Thursday of next week, April twenty fourth,
and he's made a deal, and now it's not true.

Speaker 1 (41:58):
So this way he's he's ill. I know that.

Speaker 3 (42:03):
What else does if you're a cyborg, if you're nick,
if you're the vest, you brought it up. I think
last couple of weeks he tends to speak in a
certain way, use certain words.

Speaker 1 (42:13):
I think these words would fall into that category.

Speaker 9 (42:15):
I think the big thing right now is just kind
of aggregating a lot of information and just kind of
distilling it down into a clear picture of what we
think we have with each player.

Speaker 3 (42:23):
How do you come up with the players you want
to pick? I just get my group together and we
distill it down into the picture we want.

Speaker 1 (42:29):
Are they like making a beverage.

Speaker 3 (42:31):
They're aggregating their information and they're distilling it down into
the information they want.

Speaker 1 (42:35):
I think I've heard that before. It's there.

Speaker 3 (42:37):
There are nothing wrong with these sayings, and he's not
saying anything wrong. And other gms use different big words
that we scoff at, like James Gladstone will all his
career in Jacksonville. But for the purposes of today's lighthearted
festival of BS, we've dropped that in there.

Speaker 2 (42:53):
I will admit that it is easier to listen to
this nonsense that he spews. GM speak if you well,
when they're winning more often than not. When he was
doing this and Lovey Smith was the head coach, I
wanted to kill myself.

Speaker 4 (43:06):
It's a lot of curiosity. You're saying that this is
a yearly occurrence, right, oh yeah.

Speaker 9 (43:11):
And honestly, it's the same every year. Every year is different.

Speaker 1 (43:14):
Wait what I mean?

Speaker 9 (43:17):
Honestly it's the same every year, like every year is different.

Speaker 1 (43:20):
Which is it say he contradicts himself.

Speaker 9 (43:23):
Yeah, I mean, honestly, it's the same every year, like
every year is different.

Speaker 3 (43:26):
But that was a comment he made today and he
was I'm not going to give you any context, because
I'll just leave with what he said.

Speaker 1 (43:34):
But obviously he's done this now.

Speaker 3 (43:36):
This is his fifth pre draft presser back in twenty
twenty two.

Speaker 9 (43:42):
Casario, I mean, honestly, it's like silly season. I mean,
there's so much misinformation that's out there from you know,
who we've brought in for visits, what pro days I've
been to, what players we've worked out that we haven't
worked out. So you try to put that all aside.

Speaker 1 (44:00):
Nick Cassario, twenty twenty five.

Speaker 9 (44:01):
In fact, today, let's say, honestly, this time of year
is a bunch of noise out there. That's a bunch
of garbage.

Speaker 1 (44:07):
He does.

Speaker 3 (44:07):
He has to remind us he's right. There is a
lot of noise and it is of little consequence.

Speaker 1 (44:12):
Though.

Speaker 3 (44:12):
After the Texas draft Player X, y Z, and immediately
we will all run to they brought in player X
for a visit. They had a private workout with player
why this was one of their top thirty visits with
player Z.

Speaker 2 (44:25):
If we have that information, he would be so good
in politics, just talking in circles, not saying much of anything, and.

Speaker 1 (44:33):
Just driving you crazy. Base our little bit.

Speaker 3 (44:35):
We've got six more installments of until next Thursday about
with the twenty fifth and the picking of the draft,
the Houston Texans will select.

Speaker 1 (44:43):
I hope it plays out that way, but who knows.

Speaker 9 (44:45):
Right now our schedule pick at twenty five pick a
twenty five grade. If we don't, we don't.

Speaker 1 (44:52):
Honestly, I want to know what he's like in his
personal life.

Speaker 4 (44:54):
Now.

Speaker 3 (44:55):
He did give us the information we've been wondering about.
We've had a chance to talk to Nick. We've seen
him work on the Rams staff and the Patriots staff
in the past. But what exactly is the offense going
to be? What offense are they going to run? And
Nick Casio and explaining that the big picture of football
and then the smaller picture of what the Texans are

(45:16):
going to do offensively.

Speaker 1 (45:18):
He really he let us all know.

Speaker 3 (45:20):
He let the other thirty one teams know weeks before
the season started.

Speaker 9 (45:23):
Look, football's football, like, offense is offense. We're all of
a sudden going to put in an offense that you know,
it wasn't around. You know, that's brand new that nobody's
ever seen before.

Speaker 1 (45:32):
It's not gonna be a brand new. Football is football,
but also offense is offense. Facts.

Speaker 9 (45:38):
Look, football's football like offense is offense.

Speaker 1 (45:41):
We're all football's football.

Speaker 3 (45:43):
He didn't have to say anything about defense because they're
so awesome over there. And this one is for our
Longhorn hater, which means he's not sitting in this room.

Speaker 4 (45:51):
No.

Speaker 3 (45:52):
Nick Casio made a funny about the Longhorns today. He
and his staff spent some time in Austin for their pro.

Speaker 9 (45:58):
Day in Texas case. I mean they got, you know,
five hundred kids that are gonn get drafted this year,
so I mean it's good to see them all in
one spot.

Speaker 1 (46:06):
Five hundred, five hundred kids. Did you know they had
that man on the wrong mister irrelevant two hundred plus
times over. I bet you they'd take a long horn.

Speaker 3 (46:15):
If they do, that would be pretty good, especially if
it's early with the quality of players. Golden is somebody
they could draft. I doubt at twenty five. Banks is
somebody they could draft. I doubt at twenty five. I
think they're actually both going to be off the board.
Barn Is not a player they're likely to draft. Might
have the best NFL career of those three. Isaiah Bond

(46:38):
had a seventeen page report letter sent out via press
release about his countersuit. We brought up the suit against
him that he turned himself in for or he charges
against him, so who knows. But there are quite a
few other players also that later on in the draft
would make some sense for this Houston Texans team. That's

(46:58):
just ten. This was about a thirty five minute conversation.
I easily could have pulled forty. But that's all you're
getting today for Wednesdays Casario Comedy on Wednesday's BS.

Speaker 5 (47:10):
The eight on Sports Talk seven ninety.

Speaker 1 (47:17):
Do you like Huey Lewis in the news? Oh man
late for class? So you just did complete opposite.

Speaker 3 (47:26):
I went right to the actual scene in the movie
where you hear this, soe.

Speaker 2 (47:29):
Well, you also used the movie where the song actually
was in versus just mentioning an artist that is mentioned
in another movie that it's in.

Speaker 3 (47:36):
Right now in the movie you were referring to that
just turned what Huey Lewis music. Do you actually hear
in the movie.

Speaker 1 (47:45):
Hip to Be Square? Yes?

Speaker 2 (47:47):
Because Paul Allen bites it spoiler alert, I think it
when that is that a raincoat?

Speaker 1 (47:51):
Yes it is. It's called Hip to be Dead In
eighty four when sports came out.

Speaker 3 (47:58):
If I told you if I asked you what your
favorite Jared Leto movie was, that one for sure, no question.

Speaker 1 (48:03):
You know about me and Jared Letto, right, he.

Speaker 3 (48:06):
Probably has some sort of hall pass from the other
person that lives in your house opposite.

Speaker 4 (48:11):
She hates him, No, you hate him? Yes, she's indifferent.

Speaker 1 (48:18):
So called life.

Speaker 2 (48:19):
He's so he's in a band called thirty Seconds to
Mars or something like that.

Speaker 1 (48:22):
That's why he's famous because he's a music.

Speaker 2 (48:24):
Sixty whatever it's called. Sure, and he was very flirtatious
in the past during interviews.

Speaker 1 (48:34):
She just does not that's not gives off a vibe
she's not down with.

Speaker 2 (48:38):
It's never been her mom for a very simple reason.
She likes to be respected in her industry. What a concept,
I know. And uh, I think she thinks that I
have overblown this, that the amount of interest on his
side of things, which I say nay to that. And

(49:00):
it's on site if I ever see him, it's you mean,
it's on There are two there are two band members
who are very One of them is way worse about
being flirtatious with her. I don't even care that I'm
airing this out. I actually would like to say who
the guy is. Are you not like everybody here loves
this band and it sucks. It's okay, and he sucks

(49:21):
the most.

Speaker 3 (49:22):
We can get back to the person in question, like
he's a he's been in a movie or a doc
a film about somebody you probably would be interested in.

Speaker 2 (49:30):
He has three names. He was a killer so Jared
Letto again? Uh huh, No, see, I like he's great
as an actor. Okay, well, shouldn't that be a Nimes? No,
we're not talking about Jared Leto the musician.

Speaker 3 (49:41):
We're talking about Jared Leto the actor, Chapter twenty seven,
Mark David Chapman.

Speaker 1 (49:45):
This is like, right up your alley. He's a better
musician than actor in my opinion. I'm not.

Speaker 3 (49:51):
I don't know anything about his Mars music.

Speaker 2 (49:54):
Wex is indifferent to the planetary.

Speaker 1 (49:56):
Yeah, yeah, that's it. He get beat up in fight Club? Sure?
Yeah did he? I know he died over by the way.

Speaker 3 (50:03):
Did he ever get to Jodie Foster in Panic Room
or did she stay in there?

Speaker 1 (50:06):
I think she stayed in there.

Speaker 4 (50:07):
I read did Jefferson kill him?

Speaker 1 (50:12):
In what movie? Panic Crew?

Speaker 4 (50:14):
Okay, well he wasn't Jefferson in that film.

Speaker 1 (50:17):
He is Jefferson in every film. To me, he killed
other people as Jefferson.

Speaker 4 (50:20):
He is among the all time greatest actors of our generation.

Speaker 1 (50:25):
He actually is a good actor. He's very good, so
much so that he can retire and not we never
have to hear about it.

Speaker 3 (50:30):
And then, lastly, on this extremely important closing out the
hour topic, was he not as you said, he's a
good actor like he was in Dallas Buyer's Club.

Speaker 1 (50:39):
He went to the best actor in that film. I
mean he was, but so was the other guy.

Speaker 10 (50:44):
You know.

Speaker 2 (50:44):
I got real skinny for that film, and then I
just stayed skinny for The Wolf of Wall Street where
I talk about cocaine in a public rest.

Speaker 1 (50:51):
That's what he talks about. Cocaine. Well, it's one of
the things he talks about in that scene. Do you
know what else he talks about in that scene? Yeah,
of course I do. M Mmmm, I'll turn my mic off. Dude.

Speaker 2 (51:06):
That that movie is so good, with so many different
iconic performances, and none of them are Leo.

Speaker 1 (51:15):
He's fine.

Speaker 3 (51:16):
So who so clearly partially skinny? Jonah Hill had an
iconic book.

Speaker 1 (51:21):
He wasn't partially skinny.

Speaker 3 (51:23):
Well, he's been much much bigger and much much thinner.

Speaker 1 (51:26):
Okay if you want to call him in between, but
he was fat Black.

Speaker 3 (51:28):
Movie Billy Bean Jonah Hill, He's Pete is not skinny.

Speaker 1 (51:34):
Twenty one Jump Street. Jonah Hill is very skinny.

Speaker 3 (51:37):
The one that was choking on Ham and Wolf of
Wall Street performance in between his Veneers Elite, his treatment
of Gosh. I can't remember the guy's name, the guy
who went to jail for everybody. It was character right,
his performance when Brad that Brad the handoff.

Speaker 2 (51:54):
I mean, Brad had quite the homecoming on the yacht
once he got out of the clink.

Speaker 1 (51:58):
Okay, that's enough.

Speaker 2 (52:00):
So when we come back, I have a bone to

Speaker 2 (56:59):
O'clock all, right we, uh we just got done talking
about the. Draft we heard From Nick. Cassario we'll have
plenty of, That BUT i have a bone to pick
with some, people these people wex these people, that as
you mentioned in our first full hour on the, show
which was, three, right we came in right at three o'clock.
Today you mentioned this once we, started you, know kind

(57:21):
of meandering away From astro's tenth inning, Show minutia and
monotony and their offense is. Terrible that the no one
on this team basically The Houston. Rockets in other, words
they don't know what they don't. Know The warriors are
four and oh all time in the prior playoff series
and they've all happened in this run Of Steph curry's you,

(57:44):
know utter and just, great just total. Greatness he's the
greatest player who ever played THE nba. Ever just ask.

Speaker 3 (57:50):
Anybody there's three players past fifteen years CURRENT nba that
are on the top fifteen players in the his of the.

Speaker 1 (58:00):
Game steph's one of. Them top, fifteen meaning where does he.

Speaker 3 (58:04):
Fall probably, eleven, twelve, thirteen fteen or.

Speaker 4 (58:07):
Fifty see listen you, people do you hear? That some
of you need to be shaken and woken? Up that's
where he. Is but, first he's not a top ten.

Speaker 3 (58:15):
Player from these other retired, players we get people forget
let's literally forget about.

Speaker 2 (58:21):
Them they didn't even they don't exist because they didn't
see them, play which by the, way is even way
worse for today's.

Speaker 4 (58:28):
Generation AS i sound like an old. Man you, know
they've got.

Speaker 3 (58:32):
YouTube, yeah there's things that you can say in his
favor from this generation because nobody else is there Like
michael's got his six and that's what always keeps him
above everybody else in addition to everything. Else but if
somebody were to get to that point that it would
help their. Case this GENERATION nba. Talent, okay how many

(58:53):
which player either late In jordan's career to today or
the last twenty five, years whatever time period you want
to use this. Century who has the most titles as a.
Contributor it's? Him, yeah, yeah And draymond for crying out, loud,
right but he's not at that, level so we don't say.

Speaker 2 (59:10):
Him which, again we talked About draymond as if he's
like a member of The Bad. Boys you know what
the Bad boys would have done To Draymond, Green they
would have handled. Him it would have been a one
year experiment where he tried to act like a tough
guy and then he would have gotten decapitated by real.

Speaker 3 (59:22):
Men, yeah four titles for the two of those three
THAT i. Mentioned lebron has four. Titles steph has four.
Titles but here's the.

Speaker 2 (59:29):
Thing everything about The warriors franchise that we all despise
aside and like of them are. Valid by the, way,
not the least of which is they're, arrogant just, condescending
douche of a. Coach i'm, sorry but if you're winning
seventy three games AND a you don't win the, title

(59:49):
AND b a chunk of that, season you just kept
humming right along As Luke walton filled in for, you
have that creative.

Speaker 1 (59:58):
Coach i'm, sorry you're just, not at least not for that.

Speaker 2 (01:00:00):
Season Like Phil jackson had a terrible back and he
was walking around like he was one hundred and twenty year.
Old he never took a bunch of time off and
then HAD i don't know text winner or who else
was on that, staff just keep on going with the
seventy two Win Chicago. Bulls it turns out that the
players are like ninety five percent of.

Speaker 1 (01:00:19):
It Jerry.

Speaker 2 (01:00:20):
KROWS i, know organizations win championships in your, opinion but
now it's the, players and usually the team with the
best player, wins which brings me to this. SERIES i
had utter defeatist after utter defeatus last night three by my,
count just for the purposes of this segment on my,
phone that you would basically why even play the? Series

(01:00:42):
it's already? Over, oh my, gosh, anybody but too much.
TRAUMA i can't do this. Again and let's be, honest
it's The warriors series to. Lose and if this person's
listening right, now very very close personal friend of, mine
BUT i wouldn't have, it AND i wasn't having it
with the other person who is chiming in THE nba
wants The lakers and The warriors so, bad so why

(01:01:05):
do we even play the?

Speaker 1 (01:01:06):
Series then we brought it, up AND i don't think
we ever got to a.

Speaker 3 (01:01:09):
Conclusion and now we know seven of the eight playoff
teams and we'll Assume memphis is the.

Speaker 1 (01:01:13):
Other so. Bump.

Speaker 3 (01:01:15):
Okay, see out of the, conversation you've got six potential
opponents For houston to. Play if you ranked, them the
team you'd least like to play is. One the team
you'd most like to play is. Six where would The
warriors have, fallen BECAUSE i would assume they'd be pretty
high on that.

Speaker 1 (01:01:32):
List you give me the teams just BECAUSE i can't
think on The.

Speaker 3 (01:01:36):
Lakers, Clippers, Grizzlies, Timberwolves, Warriors so.

Speaker 2 (01:01:42):
The grizzlies would be at the top of your list
because there are just an utter disaster they'd be six
the easiest.

Speaker 1 (01:01:48):
One, okay so the hardest at the.

Speaker 3 (01:01:50):
Top the teams you would least like to, Play you're all,
right quote unquote for your, purposes for the needling, purposes
the teams you're most afraid, of, right which is what
this comes down, To, Right so who's about would be
at the top of the?

Speaker 1 (01:02:03):
List?

Speaker 2 (01:02:04):
Uh, okay thunder because they're LIKE i, said all don't.
Count and then you said with the second one THAT
i have to eliminate is who The.

Speaker 3 (01:02:11):
Lakers i'm trying to make this as simple as. Possible
you take The Western, Conference, yeah don't Say Oklahoma? City,
yeah who's the team you'd want to play the? Least
who are you most afraid?

Speaker 1 (01:02:20):
OF i.

Speaker 3 (01:02:20):
Don't i'm only phrasing it that way to get you to.
React but which teams would be at.

Speaker 1 (01:02:26):
The top of your? List who would you least like to?

Speaker 3 (01:02:28):
See and the point IS i find it hard to
believe you wouldn't and everybody wouldn't Include Golden state very
close to the top of that. List And i'm not
saying first. Rounds i'm, saying, literally if you have a postseason,
series who would you least like to be playing in
that because they're most likely to beat. YOU i Think
golden for, Me Golden state and The clippers are one and.

Speaker 1 (01:02:47):
Two The clippers are the first team that came to.

Speaker 2 (01:02:49):
MIND i don't look at The warriors, like, oh they're
most likely to beat The, Rockets so.

Speaker 3 (01:02:55):
How many other teams would you? Like would you have for?
First it's kind of, like how like people are trying
to tell you they're not going to beat this. Team
it's over its. Defeatist and my point Is i'm not
so put off by that BECAUSE i don't like this.
MATCHUP i do think they are correctly put in place
betting wise as a significant. Favorite it's free money right, Now,

(01:03:18):
well it's it's the way it has to be for
them to not lose their. Backsides they have. To this
is how it has to be because they know where
the money's all coming. In if The warriors were dogs
in this, series it would have lasted one second.

Speaker 1 (01:03:29):
With the amount of money that would have come in on.

Speaker 4 (01:03:31):
THEM i just don't understand what people. LIKE i know
people are. Large what are they? Saying they're what twenty
one and?

Speaker 2 (01:03:37):
Seven they're the, best second best team in the league
record wise since The All star, break.

Speaker 3 (01:03:42):
The warriors might have drawn favorite status from the gamblers
even if they didn't make this, trade even as the
seventh seed that was forty six and, thirty because of what,
experience just because that's how the money would be played
by the people.

Speaker 1 (01:03:57):
Who Play i'm WATCHING tnt last, Night Golden. State they
Have Steph.

Speaker 2 (01:04:02):
Yeah i'm WATCHING t AND t last, night And Charles
barkley picks The, rockets which is like a lot of
people think is the kiss of, death and Then Kenny
smith picks The rockets, too And shaq picks The warriors
because of, Experience but like they none of those three
guys were, like oh, yeah it's Definitely, warriors which is
WHAT i was kind of.

Speaker 1 (01:04:21):
Expecting.

Speaker 3 (01:04:21):
Almost that's the thing between WHAT i think the generic
oh factor is from the fan base both. Places, yeah
this is this is a bad, matchup but this is.
Unwinnable the league wants, it they just not and now
they Have butler forget.

Speaker 1 (01:04:35):
It it's just not gonna.

Speaker 3 (01:04:36):
HAPPEN i think the national media is a little less
like that than.

Speaker 2 (01:04:40):
Expecting Kendrick perkins is, like you better watch your, Backsides Golden.

Speaker 3 (01:04:44):
STATE i probably wouldn't lean On kendrick for my evidence as,
Such but you're, right does he well because he's one
of their, Yellers like one of the people that's on
the network that isn't a yeller that covers the, Game
i'd probably lean on more of what they. Say and
at this point in, time While i'm not telling you
he's picking The rockets to, win he's encouraging people to

(01:05:06):
not assume this series is they can't. Win you guys
have got to give The rockets more. Respect you've got
to recognize that the PLAYER i just cast as a
first Team All defensive Player Amen, thompson is on a
team that can beat. Them they've played well, enough they're
going the way that they play, LIKE i know what
their downfall. Is you know what their downfall is going
to be if they don't beat The. Warriors it's pretty.
Simple they had a miserable year shooting the basketball Against Golden.

(01:05:29):
State they shot worse Against Golden state than any other
team in The Western which, is how do you BEAT
i mean holding them to ninety six like they just
did to beat them the middle Of great And. All
But i'm not gonna expect that four times in a
seven game. Series but The rockets have to score some
to win this, series no matter how great their defense.

(01:05:50):
Is defense and rebounding absolutely should Travel Homan, road and
it should obviously play in the. Postseason it is a
great way to Build. George memphis did it the opposite,
way and it's why they didn't win. Yesterday it's why
they got beat by them late in the. Season they
are one offense all, day every, day and it got them.

Speaker 2 (01:06:10):
Beat, Yeah AND i was watching some of those you
know transitions last night and, thinking, geez, like just if
you it's not even like about grabbing a, rebound or
they were faster to the. Ball it was, like don't
hand them the, basketball don't throw it at a big man's,
feet don't be so clumsy, eatie like all of these

(01:06:31):
things that were factoring Into i'm, like and The warriors did.
What they had a twenty point lead against, them and
they they did blow the. Lead they blew. It The
grizzlies came back and, Led yes they. DID i mean
that Is i'm not saying The rockets can't blow a,
lead but they would have had the lead to blow
to begin.

Speaker 1 (01:06:47):
With that's the Difference memphis. WAS i remember the.

Speaker 3 (01:06:50):
Thirty one point lead that The warriors, had, right but
they blew to The.

Speaker 2 (01:06:54):
Rockets this is that's the difference between just whatever you
want to call this generation Of.

Speaker 1 (01:06:59):
Warriors, yeah but they.

Speaker 2 (01:07:00):
Don't that was what actually made The warriors so unbeatable
because they had the.

Speaker 4 (01:07:07):
Shooting but a lot of teams nowadays have that. Shooting
i'm not saying it's that, shooting but you know WHAT i,
mean offense is off the. Charts they played defense and
they Had Steph curry on the, floor who doesn't so
AND i know he was trying last.

Speaker 2 (01:07:19):
Night it was, adorable but like he's he's awful. Defensively
SO i JUST i don't. KNOW I i think what
you said that it's just a foregone conclusion or that
people are coming into this saying it's Like i'm really
actually surprised about. It and the word fear was used
in a different text, thread And i'm just, Like i'm

(01:07:41):
not having.

Speaker 1 (01:07:41):
This Man like The, ROCKETS i know that it's not it's.

Speaker 2 (01:07:45):
You, know two through eight or whatever if you want,
to you, know factor in the play in. TEAMS i
know they're separated by like nothing but The rockets, defense
The rockets rebounding and The rockets not having a star,
player which could be to their, benefit actually is something
that no one else is bringing to the, table Including.

Speaker 3 (01:08:06):
Okac two things that we'll talk about next, segment how
not having a star player could be beneficial To houston
and the element that you brought up when you just
brought Up Zach edes's. NAME i was going to tie
what happened last night Between memphis And Golden state into
The Rockets warriors. Series coming. Up those two items coming
your way next here on.

Speaker 1 (01:08:26):
The eighteen.

Speaker 7 (01:08:28):
The age On Sports talk seven.

Speaker 8 (01:08:30):
Ninety you've got a host of things to get into
still before we sideways out of here at six, o'clock
and it revolves around The Houston rockets and the.

Speaker 3 (01:08:44):
Postseason there are two spots left in the, postseason one
for each. Conference it will not be determined Until. Friday
the winner of tonight's games between the two teams that
finished outside of the top eight and have no business
playing basketball, anymore we'll get the opportunity to play tonight
and then again On, friday and if they win that
game and that, game then they'll get to lose to

(01:09:05):
The cavs And, thunder. Respectively doesn't happen very often the
tenth team in the standings has never made the postseason,
before even with the advent of the play in. Tournament
the team in ninth has done it on three, occasions
the team in eighth has done it on five. Occasions
team in seventh pretty much does it every. Time so
we'll see what shakes out, tonight but much more, importantly

(01:09:28):
what's going to shake out On. Sunday the last of
the first round series will get tipped off At Toyota
center On sunday.

Speaker 1 (01:09:36):
Night the last game. One you got four On.

Speaker 3 (01:09:38):
Saturday you got four more coming up On, sunday the
first of back to back late night tip offs here In.
Houston back to back in terms of games one and.
Two tip times are identical and they're, late but not
back to back in terms of when those games will be.
Played after arriving In, houston Probably, saturday The warriors won't
Leave houston until at the earliest late Late wednesday, night

(01:10:01):
but much more Likely, thursday because they have one game
On sunday and then one mower Game game two not Till,
wednesday two days off in. Between they also have two
days to walk To San francisco For Saturday's game. Three
but we each have something to describe for this upcoming.
SERIES ac is gonna. Have why not having a star,

(01:10:21):
player which The rockets arguably do not, have at least
as compared to the other playoff, teams might play to their.
Advantage And i'm gonna tell you something that happened in
last night's game that should have you quite concerned about
what The rockets may have in their plans For Golden.
State so The rockets just Played Golden state and beat
them At Golden state coming from behind after a slow

(01:10:45):
start in the first, quarter great second, quarter kind of
a close game after, that and The rockets got a
great finishing kick to win that game going. Away part
of it was due To Jalen green having his first
good three minutes of basketball in five games Against Golden.
State he scored ten s Eight rockets points and turned
a six point game into a thirteen point, game but
his numbers overall Against Golden state were. Awful but that's

(01:11:07):
not the. Point what happened in last Night's warriors game
that could apply To houston's philosophy on how to Beat Golden.

Speaker 1 (01:11:14):
State what did The rockets do for the last eight?

Speaker 3 (01:11:17):
Weeks they went double big a lot they did a
little bit of Against Golden state and seeing them twice
in the last couple of, months it's.

Speaker 1 (01:11:24):
Worked out tremendously.

Speaker 3 (01:11:25):
Well some of their lineup numbers are heavily in their
favor when that lineup is on the. Court just Having
Steven adams on the court at, times even Without shengun
has heavily played in their. Favor it didn't necessarily have
a lot to do with That Golden state. Game so
they Beat Golden state And adams played seventeen minutes off the.
Bench in game by game plus minuses sometimes can be

(01:11:46):
a little bit. Screwy they were a plus two when
he was out. There they were a plus sixteen in
the twenty seven minutes That Jabari Smith junior was out
there off of The rockets. Bench SO i take it
a last. Night Jimmy butler was pretty. Good he was
best game in the history of him as A. Warrior
good brief in that. Game it's pretty, brief, yes but

(01:12:07):
he was very. Good AND i think one huge factor
as to, why because The Memphis grizzlies interim head coach
wanted with the lineup that they have granted Missing Jalen.
WELLS i think matters a. Lot they played two bigs
almost the entire, Game. Zachia he played thirty three minutes

(01:12:30):
the majority of, wiss especially in the first. Half we're
Defending Jimmy. Butler The warriors aren't a big. Team they're
actually a very very small. Team When looney's not on the,
floor he played ten minutes last. Night they played super,
small which they very likely might do Against. Houston and
even If looney's on the, Floor, Looney, Butler, green what

(01:12:55):
are you doing with your double big lineup on the
other end of the. Court you're gonna have to be
so awesome rebounding and so awesome, offensively because If Steven
adams is being asked to Guard Jimmy, butler because you're
not gonna Ask alpi to do, it, right and one
of them then has to Guard Draymond, green which might
be a little bit of a breather for.

Speaker 1 (01:13:12):
Them and If looney's in the, game then one of,
them like.

Speaker 4 (01:13:15):
If looney And butler And green are on the, floor
then maybe you can get away with it because somebody
who's much more athletic can Defend Jimmy.

Speaker 3 (01:13:23):
Butler But Jimmy butler Versus zach edy is why The warriors.
Won it should never have taken them that long to
figure it, out and they still. HAVEN'T i guess they
think they were so bad Without. Eadie they couldn't take
him off the floor because he was awful. Defensively he
could not defend him at. All he did a nice
job of standing in the middle of a lane when he,

(01:13:43):
could and people would drive in and it's just look
to pass back out because he protected the, rim. DON'T
i don't think The rockets can do as much of.
THAT i think it will cost them, dearly even though
he had seventeen, rebounds even though he scored fourteen points
and some of his.

Speaker 1 (01:14:00):
To get into the officiating. Today we got three more.

Speaker 4 (01:14:01):
Days but that's WHAT i took out of last night's
game as it relates To Rockets. Warriors you better put
the right caliber defender on the floor with your five
against their.

Speaker 3 (01:14:12):
Five and hat tip to the emay and his. Staff
hopefully they recognized it in the meeting earlier this. Month for,
sure they definitely had the right guys out there and it.
Worked it might not work every, time BUT i would
love to see them recognize. THAT i don't want to
See Jimmy butler out top in space trying to drive
By Steven adams.

Speaker 2 (01:14:32):
Easily how about the other underlying factor here which no
one else can. Say The rockets are the only team
that can say, this not just about The, warriors but
about The.

Speaker 1 (01:14:42):
Thunder they're the only team that's played both of them
five times a.

Speaker 3 (01:14:46):
Year, yeah a lot of, experience and you know what
works and what. Doesn't you Should and, they, LUCKILY i,
guess have played them twice since the deal was, made
so they've even seen This Butler curry team. Twice but,
yeah having to play ten of your eighty two against
those two teams when nobody else had to play even
nine of their eighty two against.

Speaker 2 (01:15:03):
THEM i know that The rockets don't have the best
quote unquote best player in the, series because that would
Be Steph. Curry by all, accounts they have the best, Defender,
YEAH i don't think they have much second best defender.

Speaker 3 (01:15:16):
Too and the closer we get to the awards being,
announced the more Likely i'm going to say Men thompson
is going to make the first. Team i'm liking What
i'm hearing from those who've been willing to say what
they have or plan to do with their. Votes he's
definitely getting a lot of. Run second best defender Being dylan.
Yep third best Defender. Draymon, okay, Sorry tarry. Close, well

(01:15:38):
do you Think Tarry easton's a better defender Than Draymond?

Speaker 1 (01:15:40):
Green right? Now, NO i, Don't but do you think
those other?

Speaker 4 (01:15:43):
TWO i Think Draymond green's a better defender Than, Dylan
BUT i THINK A Men thompson is better Than.

Speaker 2 (01:15:48):
Draymon, YEAH i, MEAN i could, SEE i would take.
It it's But dylan brings a whole lot more. Offense
that's what the.

Speaker 3 (01:15:54):
THING i fully respect a knight's work From draymon Because
i'm not going to just sit here and, say whooped
he Do draymond hit a shot in last night's. Game
he's such as zero on. Offense he's a zero as
a basket. Maker he is not a zero on. Offense
he's a great. Creator he does draw attention when he
doesn't shoot dumb. SHOTS i, mean he's A westbrook And yiannis.

(01:16:16):
Player UH. Threeso you want to make them their? Turnovers
and then when he.

Speaker 4 (01:16:21):
Does make, one you're, like oh my, god we did
everything we wanted at least in the LOSS i know
the The butler era, lost by the, way but he
did not last last.

Speaker 1 (01:16:31):
Night he was one for. Five he was zero for
three from.

Speaker 3 (01:16:33):
Deep The grizzlies had a, very very very different idea
on how to beat this team than The rockets. Did
The rockets, SAID i don't care who you, are do
whatever you want all game, long as long as you're Not.
Curry and they got torched By, peyton torched By. Pajemski
they had a moment in time Where Buddy healed couldn't,
miss and they just didn't care because they're, like go right.

(01:16:55):
Ahead And memphis, SAID i wonder If Jimmy butler And
Steph curry go, off if we can still. Win they
s where seventy five points between. Them, yeah on forty two.
Shots they fouled them all game. Long they shot thirty
one free.

Speaker 2 (01:17:10):
Throws that don't do, that, No and, honestly on the
other side of, things that is a concern for The,
rockets regardless of would.

Speaker 1 (01:17:18):
Plan forget The. Warriors it doesn't matter what series you're talking.
About they go to THE Nba.

Speaker 2 (01:17:21):
Finals if they're not hitting their free throws at least
a respectable, clip it's gonna lose them at least one
game in the, series if not.

Speaker 1 (01:17:28):
More, yeah that's the other part of.

Speaker 3 (01:17:29):
It probably don't talk about it enough because it's it's
very unlikely to.

Speaker 1 (01:17:34):
Change there's not a drill they're going to go.

Speaker 3 (01:17:36):
Through there's not a session at the, whiteboard there's not
a film session they're going to go through between now And.
Sunday they're a bad free throw shooting, team and it's team.
Wide The knights where. Three i'm, like oh, my.

Speaker 4 (01:17:48):
It's just like the bottom of the. Lead you gotta
put them, in gotta get, there and got to put them.

Speaker 1 (01:17:53):
In and right at the top of that list Is Outbrand.

Speaker 3 (01:17:56):
Shingoon, Yeah Jimmy butler had an alp like night at
the line eighteen attempts to makes.

Speaker 1 (01:18:01):
It's actually very very. Similar not very, good to say the.

Speaker 3 (01:18:05):
LEAST i didn't quite catch your theory on The No
stars as a. Positive can we hit on that? Next,
yeah absolutely hit on that. Next here on the eighteen.

Speaker 5 (01:18:15):
THE a team On Sports talk seven ninety.

anytime you. Want that's where it's. At in case you missed,
it now you heard. It do you have any other
sports related items for?

Speaker 1 (01:20:02):
Today, yeah you got a.

Speaker 4 (01:20:03):
Few, actually one that came from the press conference that
was basically just say good live track for. Us we
got update on Tank. Dell Tank dell who is not
expected to play at the start of the year all this.
Year we don't know what's gonna happen with him in the. Draft,
Well Nick casirio gave us a little bit of an
insight on where Tank dell currently.

Speaker 1 (01:20:22):
SITS i mean making.

Speaker 9 (01:20:24):
PROGRESS i mean, honestly those guys are day to day
trying to put any timetables on it BECAUSE i mean
none of us are, doctors SO i Mean i'm certain
not smart enough to be a. Doctor so when they're
ready to, ready and you, know once they give us the,
information then you know we'll just. Accordingly but hadd a good.
Attitude he's been in. HERE i, mean, honestly you've probably
seen him every, day.

Speaker 1 (01:20:41):
So he's in good.

Speaker 9 (01:20:42):
Spirits he's working. Hard so you take it one day
at a, time and you know when he's, ready he's
ready as.

Speaker 1 (01:20:48):
Usual when he's, ready he's.

Speaker 4 (01:20:49):
Ready why not just say he's not gonna be ready.

Speaker 3 (01:20:52):
In twenty twenty, five because that would be an answer
to the actual. QUESTION i don't mind him not giving in,
answer But i'd like it described a little bit different.
Way AND i even semantically he did not give an
update on him other than his literal whereabouts you said
where he. Sits, well he comes to the facility every.
Day he's been extremely diligent in his efforts to. Return

(01:21:12):
but and there might not be a really good answer
to give to begin with with this particular injury and
series of surgeries from a.

Speaker 1 (01:21:19):
Timetable it's okay to tell us there's there's no real.

Speaker 3 (01:21:21):
Timetable but he basically answered the question like players that are,
hurt here's your, answer when they're ready they're.

Speaker 1 (01:21:27):
Ready we listen to our. Doctors he didn't.

Speaker 3 (01:21:30):
Answer this is a out of the, ordinary this is
significant impact to how you're building your roster at that.

Speaker 1 (01:21:37):
Position but he doesn't have to give the, information so he. Didn't,
no he.

Speaker 4 (01:21:41):
Didn't but at the same, time you want to kind
of have a good inclination on where your team is,
offensively don't.

Speaker 1 (01:21:46):
You, well he, Does, YEAH i MEAN i.

Speaker 4 (01:21:47):
WOULD i hope that he at least internally knows what
the answer. IS i think we do, too because If
Tank dell plays in twenty twenty five or he doesn't
play in twenty twenty, five both scenarios are not relevant
to how they're building their team because they have one
scenario as if he's.

Speaker 1 (01:22:06):
Not, yeah you kind of have to go into that.

Speaker 4 (01:22:08):
SEASON i think that all of us here and most
people in society and definitely in the city Of, houston
are planning on him not being a part of the
twenty twenty five. Roster, however a player that could be
a part of the twenty twenty five, roster who was
a guy that we mentioned On monday that may or
may not be in the range of The texans at
the twenty fifth overall.

Speaker 3 (01:22:26):
Pick, yeah with the twenty fifth pick in the twenty
twenty FIVE Nfl, draft The Houston texans.

Speaker 1 (01:22:31):
Select we're on day three of. That it Was gray's.

Speaker 3 (01:22:33):
Abel, today it Was Luther burden the third the previous,
day and On monday when we opened this, up it
Was Donovan, jackson the local, product and a little report
about his whereabouts was made, today was it, Not, yeah it.

Speaker 4 (01:22:45):
Was he was here In houston AT Nrg stadium when
we were AT Nrg, stadium had one of the visits with.

Speaker 1 (01:22:52):
The texans before the.

Speaker 3 (01:22:53):
Draft so let me ask you, this because we did
not walk in or out at the same.

Speaker 1 (01:22:57):
Time it's like we didn't even know each.

Speaker 3 (01:22:59):
OTHER i ran into almost literally a handful Of texans
players because WHEN i happened to be headed to the team,
auditorium which is near the entrance to the, fields kind
of the far end of the concourse that we walk
on when we are there for, media you cross the
door to The strength Of Performance, center their weight, room
and they were the team of players was leaving at

(01:23:23):
that exact. Moment so the door opened right WHEN i got,
there and a player was in my face so FAST
i couldn't even see who Said oh, my bad to,
me BUT i saw several other. PLAYERS i was curious
if you saw anybody of dote on your way in
or out.

Speaker 1 (01:23:38):
TODAY i Saw Tyas.

Speaker 3 (01:23:40):
HOWARD i saw, him so it looked like he was
trying to get in shape to play guard or.

Speaker 4 (01:23:44):
TACKLE i think it looked like he was getting in
shape to play offensive. Line, OKAY i think that's a good.
Answer but, no it's a good thing because Of Dovin.
Jackson we already brought this. Up he's played left, tackle
he's played right, guard he's played left.

Speaker 1 (01:23:55):
Guard so regardless of.

Speaker 4 (01:23:56):
Where he, fits if he is the pick for The
texans at twenty five or in a trade back, scenario
or they trade up in the day two to go get,
him they're at least getting a dude with multi experience
who may end up becoming a really big staple of
this offensive. Line and best of, all he has a
good relationship with C. J. STROUD i do wonder if
the camera will pan ON Cj thursday, night but the
smile on his face kind of alluding, to, hey we're

(01:24:19):
bringing in The.

Speaker 3 (01:24:20):
Buckeye, yeah the camera panning on TO. Cj Straut if
you missed that earlier this week on here on the eight,
team we put him in The texans draft. Room he's
gonna be in the, text so we'll be able to
see plenty of him during the night when he's the
fourth person on the. Phone, hey is This Donovan. Jackson, Yeah,
hey It's Nick casaria with The. Texan Here's Demiko. Ryans, hey,
man we can't wait to get to work with. You

(01:24:40):
here's our Owner. Kallahanna, hey you're gonna be A, texan
BUT i guess in your, case you're already A.

Speaker 4 (01:24:46):
Texan all, right here's A. C. J. Stroud, hey this
is awesome to be back with. You this is the
greatest day. Ever is that how it's gonna?

Speaker 1 (01:24:52):
GO i think so sounds it sounds like literally almost
a perfect.

Speaker 3 (01:24:56):
Representation looking forward to all of that coverage. There i'm
sure there's other. Items we got a full four hour
show tomorrow And. Friday we'll get to some of those
if we don't get to them. Here and also another
segment to go here on the eighteen.

Speaker 7 (01:25:11):
The eighteen On Sports talk seven.

Speaker 17 (01:25:13):
Ninety final segment of A wednesday edition of the.

Speaker 1 (01:25:28):
Program It's Sports talks seven Ninety wax AND ac with.

Speaker 2 (01:25:31):
You you were asking earlier for me to explain why
not having a star player could be a benefit for
The Houston, rockets AND i kind of talked about this
comparison earlier in the, week if not last.

Speaker 1 (01:25:47):
WEEK i can never remember WHEN i do these. Things you.

Speaker 2 (01:25:52):
Know one of the things that was argued in some
of these these heart rendering texts last, night heart texts
last night was the fact that you, know the player
that's the best in the, series whatever team he's, on
that team always wins.

Speaker 1 (01:26:07):
The, series on and on and on and on and.

Speaker 2 (01:26:09):
On and it's, true The rockets don't have a, superstar
so it's an it's an outlier that teams like The
Detroit pistons and four won the. Championship but The pistons
and four were exactly the type of team that was
needed to knock off that dynasty of The, lakers AND
i realized that was like the very tail, End Karl

(01:26:31):
malone And Gary payton were ring chasing on that, team
taking up valuable minutes that maybe they shouldn't have. Been
Karl malone And Kobe bryant had personal differences off the.
Floor shaq And kobe hated each. Other kobe was about
to make a very OR i guess he already had
made a very bad mistake In. COLORADO i, mean there

(01:26:51):
was a lot that went into, that but there was The,
pistons AND i don't think going into that, series AND
i know it's been a long, TIME i don't think
anybody really gave them a shot at winning that.

Speaker 1 (01:27:02):
THING i KNOW i, didn't AND i was.

Speaker 2 (01:27:05):
Pleasantly, surprised as they just kind of had interchangeable parts
that played very very solid, defense that distributed the offense
to the hottest, hand which is very much an emay
thing to do that playing time in general goes to
the hottest hands on both ends of the. Floor if
you make a bad lapse, defensively he's just as apt

(01:27:27):
to yankee you as if you're not hitting your.

Speaker 3 (01:27:29):
Shots as much as that was clearly and you're one
hundred percent, correct it was more of a five man
team than led by this, player no question about.

Speaker 1 (01:27:40):
It but we talked about it.

Speaker 3 (01:27:41):
Before of those five, players the so called, team if
you're comparing him to The rockets with no, star they
started five. Guys clearly two of them are in The
hall Of. Fame, yeah that's pretty high level team to
have no Stars.

Speaker 2 (01:27:58):
Chauncey billups And Rashid. Wallace Ben, Wallace, Oh ben's A
hall Of. Famer uh, Huh rashid's not. CORRECT i did
not see that.

Speaker 3 (01:28:06):
Coming, well, Obviously ben's there for reasons we don't often
credit players. For but he's an elite, rebounder he's an
elite defensive, player multi time award winner on those fronts
and helped make his team very very.

Speaker 1 (01:28:19):
Good do you have that series pulled up in front of?
You by? Chance who was the little three to ozh four? Right?
Correct who was the leading scorer for The? Pistons was
It rashid in the series? Itself?

Speaker 4 (01:28:29):
Uh?

Speaker 3 (01:28:29):
Huh that they won all but one game in surprisingly right.
Dominated Rip hamilton And Chauncey billups both popped for twenty
one plus in that. Series wallace was at. Thirteen who
does that sound like to? YOU i mean literally these? Numbers,
okay do you Think jalen is gonna score twenty one and?
Out he's gonna be at twenty? One, yeah sounds about,
right you're. Reasonable dyalen will hit for, Thirteen fred will

(01:28:51):
get ten point, Eight men will go for ten ten and. Five, Yeah,
yeah that's The Pistons Hamilton, Phillips Wallace wallace And Tayshawn,
prince all of.

Speaker 1 (01:29:00):
Which played good.

Speaker 2 (01:29:00):
Defense Now i'm not Saying alpera And shingoon's going to
play amazing, defense BUT i don't think he's a matador
like he maybe used to.

Speaker 1 (01:29:06):
Be Oh, no far from.

Speaker 3 (01:29:08):
IT i think there's many areas of stay by the,
way and his one on one defense is only going
to be even on display if he's stuck out on
the perimeter. There he's not going to get posted up
at all in this series because they don't have any
players that post you up that are front court.

Speaker 4 (01:29:23):
Players it's it's a zero. Coach jimmy posts up, sometimes
but he would never post out. Up they're never going
to say go on the. POST i hope he.

Speaker 1 (01:29:30):
Goes he.

Speaker 3 (01:29:30):
Won't what he has to be concerned with is helping.
Team helping his team, defensively but not at the expense
of Leaving Kevon looney for eighteen thousand offensive, rebounds which
is his what he does well Against, houston he usually
does well against. Everybody he offensive, rebounds and he is
an elite defender in the. Paint they didn't need him

(01:29:52):
in their last game against The. Grizzlies he only played ten.
Minutes it's not out OF.

Speaker 10 (01:29:56):
I.

Speaker 3 (01:29:56):
