Austin and we are here with our guy Billy. Last
time you saw us, we were interviewing WW former WWE
superstar Maven and Billy. Of course, Billy always has intentions
(00:54):
to get on these things with us, but as we're
kind of discussing off air, it's a busy time for him. Now.
Obviously you know he's back coaching. He's up in Northern Kentucky.
The season starts, it's only in a couple of weeks,
and school starts is a little bit right before that.
So Billy, glad to have you back. Man It's good
to see that beautiful baby face of yours. Man, how
you been, Yes.
Speaker 2 (01:13):
Sir, I'm glad to be back. That was my first
time seeing like the video.
Speaker 1 (01:18):
Intro for those Oh yeah, what do you think of it?
Speaker 2 (01:19):
Watch on YouTube? That was beautiful? Can be hypo, really
really cool. I'm excited, Yeah, and I'm excited to be back.
On the podcast. Today talks some summer Slam, you know,
biggest event of the summers coming up this this coming weekend.
You're you're gonna be in Cleveland. You are your boots
on the ground. That's right for summer Slam? Are you
getting excited?
Speaker 1 (01:38):
Oh dude, I can't wait. I got the rental car ready,
I got the hotel stand at some crappy hotel in Cleveland,
just right next to the airport. But uh yeah, I've
already read bad reviews on it. I'm ready it. It
should be a fun time. It's like, I think, a
four hour drive from here, a four or five hour drive.
But I'm heading up to Cincinnati tomorrow for the uh
the Creed concert with the three Doors down. I'm gonna
(02:01):
stay the night there and then I'm making the trip
up to Cleveland. So it should be a good time.
I'm excited we've been to This is gonna be my
second WrestleMania. We went to one a couple of years
ago and we still have plans on possibly going to
the Royal Rumbles. So we're looking forward to having the
full crew at a p l E coming up. But
you know I'll hold it down.
Speaker 2 (02:21):
Yeah, yeah, you'll definitely hold it down. Obviously. I wish
I could be there, Just a little too busy right now.
Gonna be at Luke Holmbs this weekend in Cincinnati, So
that's right.
Speaker 1 (02:30):
So you're my favorite, one of my favorite country concerts
out Luke Tombs Live. He's probably got to be one
of my favorite artists most recently, for sure.
Speaker 2 (02:39):
So you're gonna be in my neck of the woods tomorrow.
Speaker 1 (02:41):
That's right, that's right, And tell me that. Yeah, look
at that, Look at that. So yeah, we'll be at
the River Bend. You know. Listen, you're Billy Prickett. All
you gotta do is just show up anywhere in northern
Kentucky and they just roll out the red carpet for you.
So I should have hit you up so I can
get meat and Greek path, No, for sure.
Speaker 2 (03:03):
So biggest event in the summer. Man, you're heading down
there or up there, I should say, to Cleveland, we
got uh pretty stack card. Uh you know, Roman reigns,
blah blah blah. Let's get into a little bit. Let's
let's start. I'm gonna let you lead this all since
you're gonna be there. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (03:18):
Yeah, let me let me switch on over to my
my Wikipedia generator here, and uh, there's I don't know
how because usually you're the one that that does this.
So have they been really accurate? If you remember like
having the one, two, three matches that like the order
of matches you.
Speaker 2 (03:34):
Think it's just that's the order that they've been announced based.
Speaker 1 (03:38):
That makes that makes a week.
Speaker 2 (03:40):
We can go in whatever order. You just start us
off with. Let's start with some of the mid card
stuff and work all.
Speaker 1 (03:45):
Yeah, well, let's just start with uh, let's just start
with the the w W Women's Championship. I'm sitting here.
We got Bailey and Naya Jacks. Nya Jacks of course
winning the Queen of the Ring a couple of months ago.
And you know, when we talk about women's wrestling, and
we talked about these two in particular, you know, I
always see Bailey as a pseudo friend of the show
(04:07):
because we were supposed to have her on months back.
It was really cool to see her win the championship
and get her moment in Philadelphia WrestleMania. But I don't
know nothing. Nothing about her title reign was really like
excited me at all. So I'm interested to see kind
of what you think. I know we were talking off
airy didn't watch last week's Monday Night Raw, but from
(04:27):
the women's perspective, and since we were there in person
watching Bailey win the title and we kind of see
them slowly building up Naya Jacks, what do you necessarily
think about this? What do you think about her title
reigns so far? I mean, I remember that was like
the big height that she finally had a WrestleMania moment.
She's finally watched over by Triple h apart her first
real singles run under the Paulo bec era. What do
(04:50):
you think about Bailey so far?
Speaker 2 (04:51):
I think Bailey's title rain is kind of the theme
of many of the title reigns that started at WrestleMania
this year, where it was a great moment when it
happened to WrestleMania, right a great match with the O Sky,
she was the rumble winner, a you know, good road
to WrestleMania, leading to boom big moment baby Faces over,
she wins the title, and ever since then, it's like, honestly,
(05:13):
as somebody that doesn't watch every single minute of wrestling
every week, I'm like, what, I can't remember last time
Bailey's had a memorable title defense since WrestleMania, Like.
Speaker 1 (05:23):
I feel like I can remember the last time really
seeing her on screen.
Speaker 2 (05:27):
I know, I know. So it's very odd, and I
think you could say the same thing about again, a
lot of these title rings, Damian Priest, you know, even
Front of the Show, Cody Rhodes, And I don't think
it's anything against them. I think the booking of their
title reigns is really odd and they haven't been featured
like you know, the big time world champions that they
that they should be featured as. Yeah, so that's that's
definitely been a gripe of mind with you know, some
(05:49):
of Triple H's booking lately. I'm overall a fan of
Triple H and how he runs things, but there are
you know, little things like that where I'll have a
gripe here in there. That's certainly one of them. Bailey's
little ring a little underwhelming. Now she's going up against
Naya Jacks at Summer Slam. Ever since Naya return they've
been building her up, you know, pretty the Queen of
(06:09):
the Ring ring was a good, you know, kind of
launching pad for her. So I think this might they
might take the title off her here again, there's not
much reason to keep it on her unless you just
want to stretch this feued out for some reason. If
you want to keep this going, and you know eventually
Naya is going to win the title. I'm pretty confident
in that that's whether it happens this Saturday down the road.
(06:31):
But I'll go ahead and take my pick. Nia Jacks
win's the championship.
Speaker 1 (06:36):
I think I'm gonna have to agree with you there.
And oh, it's even just popped in my head as
I said that. We went to Summer Slam a cup.
So we went to the Summer Slam where Bailey returned
and she started damage control. We went to the WrestleMania
where obviously she won, and I don't know, it's just
like you said, they've been building a Naia Jackson. That's
what seems like it's it's most possibly going to go
see he's been having the ring time, the squash matches
(06:57):
and just the awesome got a factor in the whole
Tiffany Stratton thing. She's carrying the money in the bank briefcase.
But you know, if if you want to think about
it from a storyline perspective, her and Nia Jacks have
been like really really close. I think it was on
SmackDown this last week where she tried to attack Bailey
with the briefcase and Bailey just kind of like roughed
(07:18):
it up, and so like Tiffany put like tape on
it and stuff like that, and it looks all damaged
and used. So it seems like her and Nia Jacks
have like a storyline pack of some some sort. So
I don't necessarily know if if they're what their plan
is with Tiffany Stratton to keep that that that briefcase
on it for too long, because I think that she's
possibly have the title immediately. But you know, they've been
(07:39):
telling the story of her and Nia Jax kind of
being the bullies and they are like best friends backstage,
so it'll be interesting to see that happen. I'm gonna
go with Nia Jax myself. I've been kind of loving
her run since coming back. I think it's her time
to put it on and I think it'd be really
interesting to see. She even mentioned on our on our
(08:00):
Body Battlegrounds podcast not too long ago, and it's something
that I've been clamoring for for a while. She mentioned
the blood Line being a part of that, and I
think that that's something that they can possibly think on
expanding to the women's division. Is she can possibly be
that female force. Hey, that's just kind of wishful thinking
me thinking down the block because once again, there's still
the whole Tiffany Stratton thing. But I would love to
see her part of the Bloodline and especially what they
(08:22):
end up doing later on in the night if that happens.
Come to fruition, a lot of the gold can be
on the blood Line, including Nyajack, so I think that'd
be pretty cool.
Speaker 2 (08:31):
Yeah, I think the Tiffany factors is a good thing
to bring up, because it's like, that's another reason to
put the title on Naya, because they can kind of
have that you know, friendship, but then there's still like,
you know, looking over your shoulder a little bit because
she's got the briefcase, I've got the title, so that
could be some fun, you know, a little folder for
them to play with over the next few months.
Speaker 1 (08:51):
Yeah, and you can you can eventually lead back to
the match maybe at WrestleMania for Bay lead to base
Tiffany Stratton for the belt. I think that that could
be a money feud too, so I'm looking forward to
seeing that. I thank me personally after looking over this
card that may be the one that opens the show.
If not here here's my other prediction. I think it's
going to be this next match speaking of title reigns,
(09:12):
and you might feel in the same predicament that me
and I guess the rest of the IWC is feeling.
I'm go aheading and labeling us as part of the
IWC on this one. But Logan Paul and La Night Yeah, yeah,
he's I mean, this is the time for La Night right.
I mean that the logan pole, like the rain hasn't
it hasn't really lived up to anything. I know, it's
(09:33):
been cool and probably on WWE's in that. You know,
he's the logan Paul in his podcast, he's carrying the
the United States Championship while hanging out with the Olympics team.
He's interviewing like Kevin Durant and like he's with this
guy Speed. These are huge social media influencers and obviously
the crossover with the NBA and the Olympics and stuff
like that. So we including Logan Pole at least you
(09:55):
including Logan Paul in this kind of myth title reign.
Ever since getting in about it year ago, and like
I said, we understand. We come from radio. We know
what like ratings are and shoving things down people's throat
giggy that they don't want. Do you think that you
know this this is like another one of that, or
do you think that Logan's kind of justified the US title.
Speaker 2 (10:14):
I think it's been for what it's worth, like a
decent enough rain, you know, with with a guy like
that who's not always around, there's always going to be
little flaws in the title reign. But like you said,
it's all about exposure for them, and we all expected
l A. Knight and Logan Pole to happen at WrestleMania
and for La Knight to get a WrestleMania moment when
(10:34):
the title there. Clearly they didn't want to do that
that quickly. I think they just wanted Logan Pole to
hold onto the title for for a little longer. So
now here we are, you know, four five months later
at SummerSlam, and we have the match that we thought
we would get at WrestleMania. So I think this is
a no brainer. L A. Knight wins the title. They've
been building him up, you know, he's he's one of
(10:58):
their future guys, like he's gonna be top guy, He's
going to be a world champion one day, and I
think the US title is a is a great place
for him to to kind of, you know, get his
feet wet as a champion. And I think that now
is definitely the time for it. I think it's been overdue, frankly,
but again it's because of the whole exposure thing with
Logan Paul and wanting to you know, like you're saying,
(11:20):
get that title on mainstream and when he's doing his
podcast all that stuff. So I think that's been good
for them. But but now's the time to switch gears
and give it to one of your you know, your
future stars in La.
Speaker 1 (11:33):
Night and he was kind of just thrust it into
the Cody Rhads thing, not too long ago for the
King and Queen of the Ring thing in Saudi Arabia
for the p l E. They it was first talked
about at first like it was going to be the
US title on the line for the the w W Championship,
and even Cody Rhods got on the show and just
even thought that that match wasn't even all that fulfilling
(11:54):
for him. But here once again, I don't want this
to be a slide on Logan Paul, because he's great
as far as guys, it's just kind of come into
the business, especially like social media influencers. And I was
listening to a podcast the other day where they were
talking about our friend Maven and the tough Enough and
how how how tough, and maybe it's just like a
sign of the times with how tough road, how tough
(12:16):
life on the road was in WWE years ago, back
when they were doing the pull the Man off the
Street and see if they could be a WWE superstar
thing kind of the same thing with Logan. But he
gets it. He knows the character aspect, he knows how
to well and he's been around the business. He knows
how to sell. He's got great facial expressions. I think
this rivalry at La Night has had a lot of
tread to it because they've been both showing up La
(12:38):
Night's showing up to his house at his pool, and
they're they're really hot on the mic with each other,
and I think that that's gonna be fun, and I
think I think, hold on, I'm pretty sure Logan Paul
is from Cleveland, so I think that they's got a they.
He's supposed to be, supposed to have some few tricks
up his sleeve, but he seems like the kind of
guy what's best for business. I think, even being a
(12:59):
hometown guy, the fans are going to be excited to
see him lose in favor of La Night. So I
think he's gonna do the job and we're going to
have a new US champion with La Night, and much
deserved because a lot of people still kind of reeling
off that money in the bait decision of him not
even making it. So I think this was a good test.
Everyone's been patient and now hopefully this is a time
(13:20):
to go ahead and pull that trigger with La Night
and put a title on them.
Speaker 2 (13:23):
Yeah. Well, and just to confirm, Logan Paul is from Westlake, Ohio,
which is topy six minutes outside of Cleveland. So yeah,
so yeah, that on it. But yeah, I think that,
I mean, maybe they could throw a curveball at us
and have Logan Paul go over and keep stretching this
feud out. But it feels like this feud has kind
of been like brewing for a long time. Yeah, like
(13:43):
even through like La Knight was in the money in
the Bank match, but he was still feuding with Logan
Paul during. Yeah, like it's been building for a long time.
Speaker 1 (13:51):
So last time you were here and we're at SmackDown
that they were kind of feuding too, remember we actually yeah, yeah, yeah,
we thought that Logan Paul was going to show up
because my model stuff.
Speaker 2 (14:00):
Yep. So I think it's time to blow this thing off,
give it to La Night, Logan Pole probably takes some
time off or something, I'd imagine, yeah, and go from there.
So our guy us Champ love to see it.
Speaker 1 (14:14):
Yeah, I would love to love to have him on
the podcast. Sometimes I don't know if we're ever gonna
get at the shout, but you know we've talked some
things into fruition before, so I would love to see that,
just to hear the actual Yeah, would be pretty cool
from him and I, once again, I think it's gonna
be fun. I kind of agree with you, Logan, Paul
is probably gonna have it. It's the brock lesnar thing
is probably gonna go on hiatus and you'll you'll most
(14:37):
likely see him back for the bigger pl E's like
the road to WrestleMania. He'll probably take a couple of
months off. We'll see him around Survivor Series, Royal Rumble again,
and so that should be pretty fun. Another match we're
going to go to. Speaking of the more I'm just
starting to agree with your sentiment, the more I'm starting
to look at these these matches. Yeah, the Intercontinental Championship
(14:59):
rank exkew me Sammy z Ain. He's taken on bron Breaker.
It's the rematch from what they just had a couple
of weeks ago. What are you feeling about the Sammy
the Sammy's Ain title reign. You know, once again, fun
moment we were there for WrestleMania. Just kind of like
the other two people that we mentioned with the Bailey
and Cody Rhodes kind of been Sammy's Ain has been featured.
(15:19):
It's not like he hasn't been on screen. It's not
like he's and he's been a fighting champion. He's had
his matches and he's had good matches. But I don't know, man,
just him as a champion just has it resonated with me.
And the way that they've been building bron Breaker is
like beating people, injuring people, killing Ricochet and then for
him to just lose the halluva kick at what was
(15:40):
the last poe? Why am I spacing money at the
think when he had money in the bank. Maybe that
was just a nod to Sammy z Ain give him
a win in his hometown since they screwed him with
Room and Rain just a couple of years ago. But
I was not a fan of that. I was vocal
on the internet with how Sammy's Ain had no business
beating bron Breaker, but maybe that they were, you know,
just kind of softening him up for this one. I
(16:01):
think this is bron Breaker's time right here. I think
he's a he's a walking future WrestleMania Maine event. That
dude is a stud. He's got the genetics, he's got
the look, he can work probably better than most of
the roster and He's lightning freaking fast. So the way
that they've been building him is kind of like a
little mini Goldberg run. With this Goldberg can actually freaking work.
(16:22):
No disrespect to the actual Golberg because I grew up
in that time and I love watching Goldberg. But when
we're talking about in the in the era where guys
focus on your moves and your your ability to do
things in the ring for such a long period of time,
bron Breaker fits that mold, and I think that they're
protecting him really well. Right now, this is the time,
just like that la a Night, go ahead and pull
the trigger on him, give him that Intercontinental championship, because
(16:44):
I think Sammy's reign as Intercontinental Champion has just kind
of been men to me. What say you?
Speaker 2 (16:50):
Yeah, I've I mean, I hated Sammy winning the title
clean at WrestleMania. I hated him beating bron Breaker, who
they they've just was broughab this guy from the main roster.
All right, and here's another triple h ripe. I guess
brought him up from the main roster, making him look
like an absolute monster, right Goldberg type of run. But
(17:11):
you know what Goldberg did, He won like one hundred
matches in a row, like he was undefeated, that was
his big thing. You could have done the same damn
thing with bron Breaker, and instead, his first big pl
match for a title, he loses to Sammy freaking Zane.
I'm sorry, I like like Samy Zaan's cool, like he
(17:31):
is what he is. He's never gonna be like a
top ten favorite of mine by any means, but I
get why people like him. Okay, But on the same token,
it's like, I'm supposed to believe that this guy knocked
off not only Gunther at WrestleMania, who was had the
longest title reign in Intercominental Championship history, and he beats
(17:54):
Broun Breaker, who, like you said, just kill Ricochet on
television a month before that. Surely this guy could beat anybody. Then, Yeah,
he'd be a ninety nine overall on W two.
Speaker 1 (18:05):
Kud Dude like runs thirty miles an hour or something
and runs of ropes at a historic pace, and like
he's a freak.
Speaker 2 (18:14):
I could not believe that decision by Triple H and
and it's probably a thing where like they just wanted
to save I do think bron Breaker will go over here.
Maybe they want to save it for a bigger pay
per view in Summer Slam. But at the same time,
now that we're talking to all these matches, we're predicting
a bunch of new champions and they usually they did
it at WrestleMania. Maybe it'll do it again, but they
(18:35):
You can't get in a habit of always having the
big moments on the just the big shows, right because
everybody's gonna start to expect like, oh, well, okay, he'll
he'll win the title WrestleMania and they'll lose the Summer Slam.
Whoever won a Summer Slam, they'll lose the Survivor Series.
Whoever wins the Survivor Series, you know, they'll lose it.
The rumble. You can't just save it for the There's
gotta be some stuff in between that give us something
(18:56):
chilling in between that, and especially with mid card titles
like the Inner kind of on championship. Money in the
Bank would have been a fine time to put the
title on Broun Break.
Speaker 1 (19:04):
Yeah, there's no in this position.
Speaker 2 (19:06):
And if you wanted to save it for Summer Slam, sure, okay,
do like a double count out or something like, don't
have Sammy's Sammy's Ain go over the guy that you
just brought up from the main roster are making look
like a freaking monster, and then all that to lose
to a little plucky you know, underdog Sammy's Ain. Come on, man,
come on. So whatever, hopefully they're right the wrong here,
(19:28):
give give Braun the title. And yeah, I mean Samy's Ain.
He doesn't do much for me. I'm not trying to
hate by any means. Sure, I get I get why
people like him. I get why he is where he
is today, you know, on the roster and all that,
but it doesn't do much for me. And I think
that Broun will have a much more you know, entertaining
and have more substance to the title reign.
Speaker 1 (19:50):
Yeah, when Sammy's Ain has something to dig his teeth
into as like an actual performer, because he is entertaining,
he has his own comedy thing. And I know that
they're going to be hosting that. I know he's been
killing it with that when they do the p l E. Things.
But when you think about like his stuff with Kevin Owens,
his stuff with the Bloodline, there's stuff the sink his
teeth into and we were just left with kind of
after the the I know, we're harping on the Cody
(20:13):
roads and finishing the story, but they had the whole
rocky build up and you can't beat Gunther, and then
he did and it was a great moment, and it's
just like, all right, now, what so you're like teaming
up with Jay almost every week you're beating some version
of the Judgment Day on television and you just, you know,
you kind of interject yourself cause I know it was
a couple of weeks ago where they had a Seamus
(20:34):
and Gunther or Gunther, Seamous and bron Breaker kind of
fight for the number one contender spot for that money
in the bank pl and you know, of course bron
Breaker ended up winning that one. And it's it's, I
don't know, just as a character thing, Sammy's ain't as
much more entertaining, but just after after the whole rocky thing,
after the whole underdog thing, you reach the top of
the mountain and it's just unfortunately for him, it's like
(20:56):
where do you go from here? Because some people are
better off left with just the chase, and I feel
that that was probably better fit for Sammy and as
we kind of talk about Sammy and Jayu, so there's
a lot of talking speculation about you know, possibly joining
up and going back into that bloodline thing because it
doesn't seem like they're ever really pulled the trigger on
jay Us to go ahead and do that. So and
(21:18):
maybe they might even do it down the road. But
with you know, Survivor series and roll Rumbo approaching in
a couple of months, and of course everyone thinks a
direction of the bloodline feud is going to go. You
stub Jimmy to return, and it's going to be interesting
to see how Sammy's ain't intersects himself into that. I'm
pretty sure that's where it's going to go anyways. So yeah,
I'm with you. I got bron Breaker winning. That's three
(21:38):
title changes that we had so far. Sort of feels chock.
And you guys can also let us know what you think. Please.
You can always use the talk back Mike feature if
you're listening to this on that free iHeartRadio app you
can see on the screen right now. Everywhere that you
can follow us all of our social media accounts. It's
all very very simple. Every social media account that we
have is at baby Face's pot and you can interact
(21:58):
with us on there. Know what you think, let us
know if you have any predictions, any swerves, or anything
like that. We'd love to hear the feedback and feature
you on our social media. Is just as well. Absolutely
going through this, going to this next match. And here's
where I think we break the spell with the title changes.
And I know that you're not gonna like this, but
we get into the World Heavyweight Championship match. Jamian Priest
(22:20):
our Guy El Campillon Poppy money in the bank, Damian
Priest is going to gets Gunther. This is Gunther's first
world title shot a major, major pay per view, and
everything just feels right, like this is gonna go gun
through right like he's he's done so much. He always
does the fun, empty arena like promos when he's walking
(22:42):
through the arena before the show, and he cuts his
cunning lines and he's he's really interesting. I love Gunther.
He's slowly kind of getting up to one of my
favorites right now because he's a legitimate badass and he
looks the part. He plays the part. Every time I
hear him chop somebody, it just makes my chest turn red.
I mean, maybe that's just a ptsc from getting shot
(23:02):
by cash Flow around this time last year at the
golf Scramble, But I know what that feels like, and
I know that Gunther's probably has one of the hardest
hitting tree trunks as a hand. But they're doing stuff
with Damian Priest dude. I mean, if you look closely there,
it seems like they're not really trying to separate him
from the Judgment Day But he has a he has
a different mentality. He's definitely playing like the not he's
(23:26):
definitely playing like the older father, the wise person of
the group. He's at ned the guy that's been there before,
and he's obviously been around wrestling for a long time.
He's worked his way up to get this championship shot,
cash it in at money in the bank. Friend of
the show of course, can't forget that. But and they're
also doing this peacock thing with them. They made a
whole special and usually that's these are the signs of
(23:47):
we're trying to switch someone to make you think someone different,
make you think somewhat differently of how you feel the
regular Damien Prize Judgment Day bad guy. It seems like
they're kind of slowly turning him and they want to
make him a legit contender. And I honestly thought that
he was going to lose money in the bank to
seth Rollins And obviously that whole stuff kind of got
(24:09):
mixed up with old sam Punk and Drew, But I
still think that they're one to add to his resume.
I think he beats Gunthera right here.
Speaker 2 (24:17):
I sure hope not, dude. I mean I would feel
the same as I did when Sammy's ay and beat
beat brawn Breaker at Money in the Bank. It like
Damian Priest front of the show. Not hating at all, but.
Speaker 1 (24:30):
Go watch Billy's reaction to Damian Priest casting the money
in the bank.
Speaker 2 (24:34):
Yeah please, I just at this point in his career,
I don't I don't see. I don't see world championship
material with Damian Prices, simple as that. And that's not
like that. That's fine too, Like not everybody has to
be a world championship material, like you can. You can
be very valuable piece of the roster without being the
top guy. And rawll Ever since Damian Price cashed in
(24:56):
one month, you know, one World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania,
which was ridiculous. I should have put it on Drew McIntyre.
They should have given him his moment, They should have
let him have a title reign. Instead we get Damian Priest. Now,
all of a sudden, you have a bunch of like
random he faced jay Uso, which was just like a
thrown together match like whatever, cool, okay, and then uh,
you know he had the matchkins Seth and money in
(25:17):
the bank. I really feel that Seth Ron should have
gone over there. So you have Seth versus Gunther at SummerSlam.
Now we just have some weird like Damian Price is
a heel, but he's not a heel. But there's like
the ultimate you know, heel badass blah blah blah for
a Summer Slam, you know, co main event match. I
(25:38):
don't understand that. I don't understand when have we ever
had a heel versus heel world championship match at a
pay per view like Summer What are we doing here? What? What?
What kind of heat does Damian Priest versus Gunther have?
Bro like that? That's not that is not a SummerSlam
worthy world title match. It's simple as that they should
have put the title on Seth. They should have just
made Seth a transitional champion, beat beat Damian Price, Damian
(26:01):
Priest to goill handle his judgment day business, the weird
stuff that's going on there, Fed Balor turn on him,
all that stuff that's like brewing blah blah blah, and
then you set up just Seth versus gun Through beats
a very formidable opponent and Seth and Seth doesn't lose
anything by losing that match by any means, right, you
know that that's a good spot for him on the
roster right now to put over younger talent you know,
(26:22):
have little title ranks here and there like that, you know,
kind of like the John c and Randy Orton ten
years ago type vive and that should have been that,
and instead we have this has got to be the
most random world title match they could have ever put
on paper for the second biggest pay per view of
the year. That's Mike Griston.
Speaker 1 (26:45):
I know you'd be very vocal about it when we
talk about it. Damien Priest doesn't doesn't irk me all
that much, but there's just something about to where I'm
seeing him. I'm just thinking, Okay, now now, what now what?
But what in the company's eyes, they're just looking at
two big, huge dudes. Once again, I keep saying they
look good. They both, I mean, they both look like wrestlers.
(27:05):
It should be a good, hard hitting match, but the
story just kind of isn't there. And what what sucks
about that is while they're trying to build him, you know,
they've been having this Gunther thing in the works for
a while. They gave him like the All Star They
gave him like the All Star treatment when they were
when they were building him up for the King of
the Ring, all the qualifying matches that he had, you
(27:27):
know with of course Jay Usso and Randy Orton, they
had him beat all stars to get there. So now
he's at the top. But that also makes me think
he's established. He can lose this match. It's it's not
like the one with with bron Breaker, where he've been
building up this absolute monster that's been beating everybody in
squash matches. Damian Priest, I feel, does have the character
(27:49):
enough to kind of sneak this one out. And I
also think he does it clean and he's kind of
like the afterthought of the whole Judgment Day stuff. Right now.
They did some really good teases with this whole Seth rawl,
saying where Seth rollins is like, if you lose, then
you have to lead the judgment. Darry there was stuff
with him and Finn and then the whole you know,
obviously everything going on with the the Live Morgan Rea
(28:10):
Ripley dom thing that's kind of taking precedents over that.
So it'll be interesting to see. But I think that
I think this is where Priest keeps it here. So
but but you're going with the Gunther to win.
Speaker 2 (28:20):
Yeah, I'm going with Gunther And I could see where
they keep it on Priests because they just keep doing it.
Like you should have lost the Drew McIntyre Clash of
the Castle. He should have lost to Sethrons some money
in the bank. He should lose the gun through here
at Summer Slam. But maybe Triple H just like is
in love with this dude and just wants to like
have him a dear title reign for some reason. Yeah,
this is the most overrated title reign I've ever seen
in my entire life. I'm so out of it, Like,
(28:43):
let's move on, let's let's move on. We did the
Damian Priest project, it was what it was. It we're six,
you know, not six months into it, four or five
months into it. Blah blah blah. It's time to it's
time to go a different direction. Put the title on
gun Through. It's it's been long awaited, much much you know,
deserve for Gunther. And one thing, one more thing to
say about this match. This is some ship that I
(29:04):
would expect out of a w This This is an
AW title match right here.
Speaker 1 (29:09):
Call a triple age.
Speaker 2 (29:10):
Where it's like Gunther, oh, Gunther win this win, won
this tournament. So and he has this record this year
and blah blah blah. So so he is the number
one contender and Damian Priest is the champion. So there
we go. There's our title match. No no story, no reason,
just the fact that Gunther won that tournament and this
is our current champion. This is what we're gonna do.
Speaker 1 (29:32):
Donth was waiting in line for it anyways, after winning
the King of the Rings. So was whatever storytelling that
they were gonna do that would lead us to his opponent.
It was either going to be him or Seth. Anyways,
I just always thought that him and Seth have more
unfinished business. They have better matches back in the past,
and so I thought that that would be the guy
to kind of put him over. But yeah, we're left
in this interesting predicament, this ae W predicament.
Speaker 2 (29:54):
Yes, a random thrown together world title match. You don't
even know who the heel, Who's who's the face? If
Damian Price is the is the baby face? I'm sorry
that's news to me because why when did he turn babyface?
Speaker 1 (30:10):
Sea mcmannon has been hanging out with Tony Kahan. Maybe
he got back to Triple H and it's kind of
given the business structure out, this is what you gotta do.
Maybe brought back some of that uh, pure Columbian stuff
for him to try.
Speaker 2 (30:21):
That's all I gotta say.
Speaker 1 (30:23):
Good, I got I got you. So you're going with
gun throw, I'm going with Damian Priest at the boy.
I think you're about to be mad. Dude, You're about
to You're You're you're gonna be the guy that cancels
their WWE network. Now a right, canceling, We're gonna be
We're gonna be canceling w W E will here. Here's
one thing that a lot of people and they talked
about very controversial let's stick with the judgment day. Rhea
(30:44):
Ripley returned just a couple of weeks ago after getting
I Guess You Got injured written off written off TV
for a couple of weeks. Through the uh the King
and Queen of the Ring that was left up for grabs,
liv Morgan won the titles. She took that from if
she took that from Becky Lynch, and then that's where
(31:05):
everything with the whole Dom thing started. I thought it
kind of started off slow, but as they picked up
into it, it's become one of the most interesting things
to watch on her all. And as much as I
love as much as I love the visual of Live
Morgan on my screen, and it's just, I mean, it's
(31:25):
it's amazing to see. She's been talked about sinking your
teeth into something and she's been doing this. They've been
really running with splitting the lines of the PG thirteen
that kind of stuff. And I mean, listen, she's hot,
she's blonde, she's young, so she really knows what to
do to get us horny Mark wrestling fans invested. I'm
(31:48):
speaking for myself, but for longest time, I just thought
that she was kind of uninteresting, but she's really kind
of developed in this storyline and everything that she's done
with Dominic. You have Ria Ripley coming back and now
kind of Dom's in the middle. Here's what I think.
I think Live Morgan retains in this one. I think
(32:09):
they've been doing a spectacular job with the whole Dom
thing and just kind of looking over her shoulder and
being scared of Rhea. Obviously, if you look at some
of the plants and some of the crumb trails, the
breadcrumbs that they've left on raw, it looks like Live
Morgan has something up her sleeve. I don't know if
that's necessarily with Dom that helps her out in this match.
(32:29):
I don't know if Dom tries to get up and
help Riha or maybe this can finally be the dissension
of the Judgment Day that I mentioned earlier, because if
you can go back and look on social media, she
trashed the Judgment Day's little clubhouse. She got rid of
the PlayStation that Dom wanted, No more nuggets for him.
Carlito seemed to be very pissed this last Monday night
(32:50):
that there is no more PlayStation and I feel them,
but Live Morgan is a woman scorned and on the
Judgment Day poster she scratched and ruined everyone's name except
for Finn Balor. Ben Baalor was the only person on that.
It was like a briefcase or something. I can't remember.
Excuse me if I don't remember, but in this graphic
that she just kind of scribbled out like a pissed
(33:12):
off teenager, Finn Balor was left untouched. And he's kind
of an interesting cog in the story because a couple
of weeks back when they did the whole card thing
and Live Morgan told Dom come meet me here, it
was Finn Balor was the one that took the card,
and Finn Balor is the one that's kind of getting
in between Live and Dom. So it'd be interesting to
see what Finn Baalor does. He just signed a new
(33:36):
deal about last week, so he's in it for the
long haul. What makes me think that they love Finn Balor?
Obviously they were the first to put the Universal the
Red Championship on him way back in the day. It
seems like they probably want to put him out on
his own at least, even if he has like Live
(33:56):
Morgan or something like that. At least be a singles
competitor and get him out of the judgment day shadow.
I really this one's hard to predict, and that's cool
because as much as I love the book in my head,
I also just love being surprised, and I really don't
love to predict all the intricacies that go on. But
with everything surrounding at the Dom Ria, the possible Finn
Balor thing, this has been a magnificent storyline. I think, uh,
(34:20):
Live Morgan keeps a championship here.
Speaker 2 (34:22):
Yeah, I'm with you. I think that there's so much
meat left on this bone that you can't blow it
off by just having real all right, all right, yeah
I can't. I don't think you can. You can just
have Ria comeback in the first match. This is not
a one match fewd is what I'm getting. Yeah, right,
(34:43):
there's so much story left to tell, And I agree
with you. I think that Finn Balor Is is the
X factor here, and I think that Live Morgan will
have something up her sleeve. I think she has to
right there. There's no way that she can beat you know,
Riha Ripley without some sort of you know, Tom going
on for her for her side. So I think that
It makes a lot of sense too, just storyline wise,
(35:05):
like she went after Dom, right, she went after Dom
to to irk Ria, who you know is her longtime rival.
You know there there's been a lot of history between
those two. So she goes after Dom while she's gone,
gets Ria to return, and now all of a sudden
they're they're going at each other, and all along she's
had Finn Balor in her back pocket, knowing that whenever
(35:26):
this match does happen, when I get Ria one on one,
that I'm gonna have Finn Balor on my side to
help me win the match and retain my title and
get the ultimate revenge on on Ria Ripley. So storyline
wise makes a ton of sense. Then you can go
into you know, Live in Finn You got Dom and Rhea,
(35:46):
you know, kind of like a mixed a mixed tag
team few and maybe maybe you can do that for
the title even they've done that in the past with
some matches, So I think this would be a lot
of fun. And I do I do not see Lim
Morgan's title reign and ending. So one of the probably
well we'll get to the main event, but my first
one where that's the champion actually retains the title, so
(36:08):
our girl, Live Morgan is still the world champion.
Speaker 1 (36:10):
Never forget when we were at WrestleMania and we thought
that we had the opportunity to meet Live Morgan because
we saw it on the board right there in the front
of our face, but we were too awestruck to actually
read like the the the edit and attack, yeah what
it said.
Speaker 2 (36:24):
We just saw. We saw Live Morgan on a screen
where they were doing we never told this story in
the podcast, where they were doing like meet and greets
occasionally in front of this ring, and we look at
the screen and all of a sudden we see Live
Morgan and then like the time said like eleven.
Speaker 1 (36:40):
Thirty or something, right, it's like ten o'clock, dude.
Speaker 2 (36:44):
We should just get line right now, will be the
first ones, like blah blah blah. So like we actually
like did that. We started to get in line, and
then I looked back up at the screen and I'm like, oh,
that says Monday at eleven thirty. Keep in mind.
Speaker 1 (36:58):
Getting there before we even flew out our flight.
Speaker 2 (37:01):
Our flight was at like noon. We're like, we can
maybe fit this in a eleven thirty, right. That was
Gpsno we were from the airport.
Speaker 1 (37:09):
Oh my god, that was great. You know, I still
think that somehow we could have made that work. But
maybe well, I don't know. Hey, as long as it
leads to hot makeout session with her and Finn Balor
on television, I am here for Yeah, that's too too
hot competitors right there. I don't know, I don't know.
I think Finn Balor is married though, But that's It's
not below WWE to have you make out with one
(37:30):
of your other co workers for storyline purposes. Let's go
on to another hot feud, hot but in a different way.
Office reference. Right there, we finally have the blowoff match.
It should be the one everyone's looking forward to. CM
Punk and Drew McIntire And I know CM Punk neither
of these guys have a title, But what's your what's
(37:50):
your opinion before I get into the actual uh, before
we talk about the results of the match, what's what's
your opinion on on CM Punk's return here in the WWE.
They're feud. I know it's been a little bit hot.
It just if you watch the whole the network or
I'm sorry, the YouTube special in WrestleMania, they had a
(38:12):
lot more other things planned out for CM Punk. Obviously,
he got injured. Unfortunately, that seems to be the theme
every time the last couple of times seeing Punk's actually
stepped in a match, so that's kind of hampered, you
know what we've been able to see of his return
so far since it's been strictly nothing but promos on
his end. But good thing for him is seeing Punk's
generationally one of the best persons to work the MIC.
(38:35):
He could keep a feud and a story going without
even ever happening to wrestle a match. But good enough
for him that we're finally getting this because you don't
want the people to grow stale of that act, so
it's going to be interesting to see them kind of
tie it up. Obviously, this is a blood feud. CM
Punk has been the major thorn in the side of
Drew McIntyre ever since getting injured, and at the World
(38:57):
Rumble he obviously stopped him from actually kind of loosened
him up for the cash in at WrestleMania, then a
Clash of the Castle. This is supposed to be Drew's
big moment. They've been leading this up like there's no
way Drew McIntyre is gonna lose in the UK, he
does again, he gets screwed by CM Punk, and then
(39:17):
that third time at the Money in the Bank also
screwed by CM Punk. So they're they're making it and
I was not. I was a fan. I was not
really one of the people that were super mad at
that wasted opportunity for the money in the Bank briefcase,
because I think that there's sometimes doesn't have to be
every single year that that money in the bank briefcase
automatically gets the championship because wrestling fans talked about things
(39:39):
being way too predictable and getting mad at that. So
in that case, you already know whoever the money in
the Bank winner is is going to be the next championship.
Like we are. We are like adamant that Tiffany Stratton
is eventually going to turn in and win the Money
in the Bank Championship. But I'm fine with it being
used for this storyline right here because at the end
(39:59):
of the day, it's telling the ultimate story about how
Drew is is absolutely obsessed with winning this thing and
still taking his eye off the ball and doesn't see
Sam Punk coming obviously those three times, so or I
get into the prediction. I kind of want to see
what you think about this. You can go ahead and
start and talk about Sampunk's return, this whole feud and
ultimately who do you think is gonna win.
Speaker 2 (40:20):
Well, it's been extremely impressive how they've told this story
over the long period of time that they have usually
when that happens, and a lot of it has to
do with the fact that sam Punk, you know, was injured,
you know, so you weren't blowing this off with like
match match match match then able to get a little boring.
But the fact that they can keep this feud hot
for you know, since basically Sampunk returned right like that.
(40:44):
This was pretty much like Seth Rollins and Drew mcintyreck
on of the two that were that were vocal about
seem Punk and his return and how how they didn't
like it and whether that's k febril. You know, it's been.
It's been brilliant television. That's great.
Speaker 1 (40:58):
I forgot to add, Yeah, Seth Rollins is the special guests.
It's it's also kind of random if you ask me,
but keep going.
Speaker 2 (41:06):
Yeah, sure, And honestly, I mean, if Sampunk didn't get
injured at at the rumble. He clearly would have been
in the title match at Wrestling, Yes, it may have
been triple threat. I think it probably would have been
one on one him and seven, but who knows, maybe
would have been triple threat. But but these three have
been kind of interesting, like cogs in this storyline in
(41:27):
different ways for months and months and months now, and
it's been one of the hottest feuds we've seen in
a while, right, I mean, Drew has been on top
of his game. I think this is really brought out
the best in him. I agree it's unfortunate in one
sense that like because of this feud, that's the reason
that he's not the champion in a way, right because
(41:50):
if you if you put the title on Drew at
Clash right like everybody expected, then you know he's defending
against Gunther here at Summerslammy. You don't get this match
with Sampunk, which has been the plan obviously for a
long time. So I see why they did what they
did every single time with Drew because you wanted to
lead to this blowoff match with CM Punk at Summer
(42:11):
Salmon that there'll be more matches after this, no doubt
about it. But it's been unfortunate. The fact that Drew,
who has been carrying Raw pretty much this year, I
would say, I don't think that's a stretch to say
that has not been the world champion other than the
you know, minute and a half at WrestleMania. Because of
the fact that the CM Punk feud almost like is
(42:33):
more important than the world title right now. Whether that's
a good thing or a bad thing, that's up for
the audience. I agree, I mean, but not every title
or every few needs a title. So I honestly I
think this one could main event. Like I don't know,
it depends, you know about the rem and Range situation.
If Reman Rains returns, I think that ends the show
and we'll get to that next. But as far as
(42:55):
like just you know, being the hottest match on the card,
this one is definitely Yeah, definitely holds that candle. So
I'm excited to see it. It should be really really fun,
you know, these two can definitely go hopefully. Seem Punk
you know, doesn't have a lot of ring. Russ he
hasn't been obviously as a wrestled in a while, and
you know, coming off an injury, and he is he's
(43:17):
been very injury prone as of late as he gets older,
so hopefully, you know, they work a good, safe match
and put on a show. As for who wins, this
one is unpredictable.
Speaker 1 (43:30):
And that's good.
Speaker 2 (43:30):
That's a great thing. I honestly it could go either way.
Me being a kind of a Drew Mark and a
big fan of his, I want to say they give
him the win, but also like, just see him. This
is like his return match, see him Punk, Like, do
they really have him take a loss here? I don't know.
(43:51):
It's tough. It's tough, and with Seth Rowlins being the
special Guests rep that adds an interesting wrinkle to it.
But I'll go with Drew. I'll stick with Drew. I'll
stick with my guy. But again, fifty fifty, I could
definitely see this going either way.
Speaker 1 (44:05):
Yeah, I'd like it Drew one personally, I think, you know,
and seeing Punk's also in the business of he's making money.
I don't think he really cares about, you know, wins
and losses at this point. I think it's about staying relevant.
It's about elevating guys that need to be elevated, which
is why I can see Drew winning. But at the
same time, this is your first match seeing see him Punk,
and especially barring something that happens, he has to make
(44:27):
a call middle of the match because he can't get
if he gets injured or whatnot. I think I definitely
see se him Punk winning this one somehow, And I
think as much as as much as Seth Rollins and
character doesn't like Drew McIntyre, I think they're going to
be put in a position to where he pins, kind
of like how the How the Summer Slam was years
(44:47):
back with Brett Hart, Shawn Michaels and the Undertaker, where
Brett Hard it was swinging to hit Shawn Michaels, but
it eventually ends up knocking out the Undertaker and then
he counts that and he's looking in Shawn Michael's eye
as Sean has to count and make his most hated
enemy the winner of the match and the champion. So
I think that that could be another thing here where
(45:09):
where seem Punk is is handed the hand of the
victory by Seth Rollins. I would love to see it
to be Drew though, just because like you said, he's
he's he's been carrying Drew's been carrying Raw. He's had
one of his best characters he was. He's vicious on
the internet. He just took a picture with a jungle
jack a couple of weeks ago. So they're breaking He's
breaking the fourth walls with all this stuff, and it's
(45:31):
been entertaining because that's the most entertaining thing about wrestling
in today's landscape is show us like real things. And
obviously there was some animosity was seeing Punk coming back,
and I'm pretty sure you know they're pros and they
worked it out, but these two were very visible and
you could take real heat from that. When it comes
to Seth Rollins and Drew McIntyre, so I think I
(45:52):
think seem Punk wins. I think he moves on to
facing Seth and they can kind of do their own
thing without a title. I think Drew eventually finds himself
back into the world title picture and then I think
he'll be fine eventually. But I think this few probably
belonged to c him Punk.
Speaker 2 (46:10):
Yeah. Again, it does not surprise me either way. I'm
very excited to see how it goes. Should be. It
should be a fun, a fun match to the crowd.
I hope is gonna be really hot for it.
Speaker 1 (46:20):
I just I I just hope that for everyone's sake,
Cmpunk doesn't get injured. Because you know, I'm a big defender,
especially I choose my sides. I've chosen my side when
it comes to the the ae WWWE thing. I'm obviously
falling more in the WWE part. But I don't want
aw fans. I don't want those losers to feel validated
(46:41):
with the cm Punk getting injured right here. I want
him to shine. I want him to shove it in
their face. And this is a perfect time. So the
anti ae W in me says, let's go see Himpunk
for this because I know all the internet marks are
gonna hate it.
Speaker 2 (46:54):
I love it.
Speaker 1 (46:56):
Let's do it, Let's let's move on. You called it
the main event time, and I am regardless. I think
this is what's going to end the show because whether
if it's Roman or not, I think there is gonna
be some sort of big reveal at this show. There's
gonna be some major heat moment here. It is it's
Cody Roads versus Solo Soakoa or the universal for I'm
sorry for the undisputed WWE Championship, which has made its
(47:18):
way on the baby Faces podcast. So we've also held
that title from Cody Rhoads. It was awesome. I still
think about that time where we met Cody Roads and
he came in here and he was hanging with us
in the freaking studio and putting us over and we
got the hold the belt. That's awesome and all that.
But I do think he retains right here. I don't
think unfortunately, I don't think this is now. I say
(47:42):
that because once again, I don't even know really with
this match. I don't know what they can do with it.
There's so many avenues that they can go with so
many outside stories being involved. Now do they put the
title on Solo? Is this the I mean, they've been
really building Solo up for trying to give him a
little bit more personality. They added Jacob Fatu to the bloodline.
(48:03):
I know a lot of people are just kind of
met by this. I've I've heard it called the Wish
dot com a bloodline. But I I like everybody involved.
I like I like Tongaloa, I like Tomatonga and Jacob Fatu.
Is that we talked about future main ev enters. I
think he's in that same vein as bron Breaker. Right now,
when you're looking at guys that you absolutely do not
(48:26):
want to fuck with, and he's one of them. He
is probably the best wrestler out of everybody right now
in the Bloodline. Roman excluded, and I know a lot
of people were talking about how they were fearful of
him overshadowing Solo, But Solo's done a good job ever
since he's come in with having some personality just as well,
he's assumed the role of the tribal chief. He's taken
(48:47):
shots at Roman reigns. As I've said before, his rivalry
of Cody goes back a couple of years ago when
Cody rohad says you're not ready, and now Solo's kind
of on his own run. Uh, I don't no. So
you have one Friday Night SmackDown. If you're hearing this,
we haven't recorded before Friday Night SmackDown. But the two
tag teams tongaloa Toma Tonga are going to be fighting
(49:09):
for I don't know if it's maybe I should look
that up. I'm pretty sure it's. Uh, Tongolo and Toma
Tonga are fighting d I Y for the tag titles.
Maybe they're wanting to put the titles back on the
blood Line but then where does that leave you with
with Cody Rhodes, you know, and they've been doing a
lot of stories with a lot of foreshadowing with him
and Randy Orton. I'm sure he's seen online, uh, the
(49:30):
way people have been pointing out the way Randy Orton
when he's in segments with Cody Rhoades, he's kind of
I in the title a little bit, and they've dropped
some bread cumb crumbs or bread cumbs. They dropped some
bread cumb crumbs with with Cody Rhodes and with Randy
Orton just kind of side one on them. Maybe maybe
Randy Orton wants that last title run. So I mean,
(49:51):
there's so many different avenues you can go when there's
who knows the Roman Reigns and we're all we're all
talking about Roman Reigns. But Jimmy Uso was eliminated to
buy that when they first started the Bloodline thing a
blood Line two point zero a couple of months back.
So maybe he's the big return. So why don't you
tell me who you think is gonna win? I think
I think Cody keeps it right here. I also don't
(50:14):
think Roman Reigns returned this Sunday.
Speaker 2 (50:17):
I'll tell you exactly what's gonna happen. All right, So
let's go. All right, They're gonna have a pretty a
decent match. Uh, Solo is gonna be in control for
most of it. Sorry to clear my throat real quick
because I'm about to drop.
Speaker 1 (50:33):
Some knowledge, drew some gospel hint.
Speaker 2 (50:36):
Yeah, exactly right. Uh, Solo is gonna look really really strong, absolutely,
and he's gonna look like he has Cody Roads beat.
Just when you think that he does, Cody Rhodes wins
with like a roll up or something weird like that,
kind of you know, like a WrestleMania eight Brett Hard
and Roddy Roddy Piper roll up type team. Okay, all right,
(50:56):
So then Solo was looking around stunned like you thought
he had to. He thought he had him right where
you're one of him. He gets rolled up, boom flat,
you know, blink of an eye. He lost the title match.
Him and Bloodline enter the ring, beat down on Cody Roads.
Boom boom, boom, beating, kicking, punching, all that stuff. Que
Roman Rains music, Boom Roman Rains comes out with Paul Hayman.
(51:18):
Paul Hayman's laughing his ass off as Romans storms the
the Ring takes out the whole bloodline, all right, boom
clears the ring, clears the Ring. That leaves just Roman
Reigns and Cody Rhodes, right, and there's no love lost
between these two. So I don't think Roman Rains is
gonna come back and be some like oh blah blah blah,
baby face blah blah blah. I think he's still gonna
be the badass that he is. I think he's just
(51:39):
gonna give Cody Roads just like a dismissive, like smirk
type look, and he's gonna he's gonna leave the ring,
and we leave SummerSlam with Roman reiins that at the
top of the ramp, you know, doing his whole little thing,
while Cody Rhodes is just looking like I like you
just saw a ghost, right, That's how I see it.
(52:00):
And then moving forward from there, I you know, I
don't think that it's gonna be Cody versus Roman or
anything right off the bat. I don't even know if
we get Cody verse Roman again. To be honest with you,
I think that, you know, we're gonna lead to a
bloodline feud where Roman, you know, brings some guys by
his side, probably you know, the USO's and others have
(52:22):
been speculated. We'll see how that evolves. Sammy's. Ay, then
you go into a bloodline civil war type deal at
Survivor series. You know the Rocks the Rock involved with that,
and you know, we'll see. I probably that that's probably
where where this goes. Right, the Rock is on Roman side.
But then I think you know, either the Rock or
Roman turn turns on each other. We get that singles match,
(52:45):
no title, just a singles match Rock versus Roman at WrestleMania.
All right, that means Cody Roads is still the champion
for the foreseeable future until this Randy Orton feud comes
to fruition, which maybe that happens around like the Rumble.
Maybe that happens with the Rumble and Orton takes the
title off Cody. Okay, stick with me here. John Cena
(53:09):
has to be in the picture at some point. In
my opinion, it's his it's his career ending year. Right.
Maybe Sena wins the Rumble. I don't know if they'll
have him win the Rumble, but maybe. All right, then
you're leading to Orton versus Sena for the title. Maybe
Cody Rhodes as a triple threat. All right, be following me.
(53:32):
You got Rock versus Roman at WrestleMania and then maybe Okay,
so Cody is technically on Raw right the only reason
he's on SmackDown is because he's the champion right now. Okay,
So if he loses the championship, I assume he goes
back to Rawdy on SmackDown right now, But the only
(53:54):
reason he is is because he's the champion. Right The
last time he has been, you know, drafted to a brand,
it was Raw, all right, but he won the Rumble,
he went after the SmackDown champion. He's now the SmackDown champion.
He's on SmackDown. But once he loses that title, maybe
he goes back to Raw. Gunther wins the title that
Summer Slam holds it to WrestleMania. Maybe we get Cody
versus Gunther ultimate good guy American guy versus you know,
(54:19):
German heel badass guy at WrestleMania. So I'm just again
just booking for the future, trying to trying to see
how this might play out. But if if I'm booking,
if I'm behind the scenes. That's kind of my tentative
game plan between now Wimania.
Speaker 1 (54:35):
I'm glad that you came up with that on the
fly because I'm I I have no clue where this goes.
I am and I'm fine with that. I'm fine being
just shocked. I know what I want to see. I
definitely want to see the Rock back. I just know
that with The Rock involved with Cody Rhodes, like they've
made that such a personal thing. And maybe it's just
because we went to WrestleMania, we were just more invested
(54:56):
in the build up, and I think that that was
probably the best build up of any WrestleMania match ever
with everything leading up the final Boss Rock was amazing
him teaming up with Roman and kind of being like
an undisputed force. But you know, they have their things
planned out and they do things so well. I keep
saying that they keep dropping the breadcrumbs. But you had
(55:16):
that weird off interaction with The Rock and Cody the
night after Mania, and they had the Rock hand Cody
back something that we still don't know what it is.
He mentioned that this isn't going to be the last
time we see each other. I can possibly still even
see that being a WrestleMania main event match for Vegas,
and I could still see them keeping us on our
heels for Rock Versus Roman main event for possibly another
(55:41):
year until when they are fully one hundred percent on Netflix.
I can see that that, you know, being but I
guess that the deal is it's gonna be on Netflix
by January anyways, But I could still see in them
dragging that out another year of giving us what they
wanted to. We could have had it last year. We
could have had it last year, but the Cody cry
Babies ruined it. I say that, but I we had
(56:02):
We had a great time. It was an amazing main event.
Everything everything worked out. But then I'm also still irritated
by the continue the continuation of it because Roman still
technically has a title. He still has a title rematch clause.
And as much as I've heard people say that the oh,
the head of the table means more than the championship,
(56:24):
well I like to look on the other side and say,
him winning the championship is what made him head of
the table. It's what made him and him beating his
other cousins Jimmy and Jay and making them fall in
line and he was he was you know, bestowed the
lay upon him by his dad like that. That was
like the capping of it. That wouldn't have happened if
(56:46):
he's not the championship. And he was just so obsessed
over having that championship have with the point of having
his family members get involved in almost every match and
doing everything that they could to retain it, so that
having the championship meant so much to Roman Reigns, and
especially when they brought out the new title and they
went from the two belt thing to the one Roman
(57:06):
that was his baby, so you had such a personal feud.
I can't see him necessarily just like overlooking Cody Rhodes,
you know, I could see possibly Roman Reigns does come back,
and what if he does acknowledge Solo so CoA. What
if he does come back and he helps Solo so
CoA wins, And then you kind of just have like
a slow build to where you know, Roman's like, this
(57:28):
is him for the greater good and he wants to
keep it in the bloodline, so he could be the
one to defeat Solo rather than him have to go
after and chase it. But you still had the opportunity.
You still have just the possibilities of Rock versus Roman
next year, or Cody versus Roman or Roman Cody three,
or you have solo. I don't know what's he here's
(57:48):
a fun thing about that though, Even though I just
said the whole head of the table isn't as much
as a championship thing, WWE's done a masterful job and
at least making sure that this feud whatever that they're
involved in, doesn't need the title. So I'm also thinking
that this leads eventually to Roman and the Rock next year.
(58:09):
Even like I just said earlier before, I could possibly
see them pushing it till next year. But I think
this is where we finally lead to Roman versus a Rock.
I think the Rock maybe shows up. I'm still not
even sure on that, but our friend Vigilanti talks to
me to shout him out right now, was talking to
him and he's kind of got me full on convinced
that Jimmy's gonna do the return at Summer Slam. Maybe
(58:30):
he gets beat down. Maybe that's what opens up to
Roman coming back. But also heard on another podcast like
I hope when Roman comes back it's like a standalone thing.
You get his you get his entrance, and you just
get the holy crap, he's back. So if you have
another red hot babyface in there, like Cody Rhoades, I
feel like that sort of takes away from him because
Roman Rings, I think is obviously gonna come back as
(58:52):
a babyface, and I think if he comes back in
the same ring as Cody, they're both kind of sharing
the babyface moment, and I think it should be Roman
all along to be the only baby face in the Rings.
So whether he shows up on a raw or SmackDown,
that's where I think he comes in. I'm not necessarily
one hundred percent sure that he comes back on Summer Slam.
I think it's gonna be Jimmy, just kind of like
last year Jimmy came back and stopped Jay from winning
(59:14):
the Tribal Chief Head of the Table. What was it
called the Tribal Combat match. Yeah, he stopped them from
winning that. So maybe it's two years in a row
that they do that. I think Roman probably, Roman definitely
needs come back sooner, sooner than later. And maybe it's
maybe it's solo winning this weekend and he comes out.
He has a coordination. Now everyone acknowledged me, and that's
(59:35):
where Roman Reigns comes back. I just don't want Roman
Rains to come back in a convoluted there's heels, baby
faces in the rings several. It should just be him
and solo when he comes back, But I say, Cody
still wins it.
Speaker 2 (59:47):
Yeah, Now it's gonna be interesting. You know, there's a
multitude of ways they could go with it, and the
whole Cody Rock X factor is interesting too, for you know,
what I laid out did not include Cody and Rock
at all. So I think they do have to blow
that off at some point. Yeah, really really, Like I
don't have much I don't know how everybody feels. I
don't have a ton of interest in seeing Cody versus
(01:00:09):
Rock one on one, especially at WrestleMania.
Speaker 1 (01:00:13):
So interesting. I kind of want to see that.
Speaker 2 (01:00:16):
I mean, it's just like we just did that thing
we say last year.
Speaker 1 (01:00:20):
Yeah, with them doing it the whole night one.
Speaker 2 (01:00:22):
That kind of that kind of ar me, Like I
already scratched the itch for me.
Speaker 1 (01:00:26):
But I don't know, maybe you should have just had
Cody Rhodes go through the Rock first and and then
if he beat the Rock, then he can challenge Roman
Rings for the championship rather than rather than the Seth
Rollins getting involved. And also someone did mention I'm pretty sure,
I don't know if it was Bully Ray, somebody a
prominent figure online mention it. And even with the Seth
was kind of weird in that rivalry too, that you had.
(01:00:47):
You had the heat between three guys and Seth kind
of just interjects himself just because he's a main guy.
He's been there for a while and they had nothing
to do with him after you know, they had nothing
to do with him, and then now Set's kind of
doing the same thing. He's kind of taking the heat
away I think a little bit from Drew McIntyre and
see him punk. So the last couple of pay per
(01:01:08):
view seem punk is are the Seth Rollins kind of
been thrusted into things. So I don't know, I just
maybe feel that that first night of WrestleMania, now looking
back at it, if you wanted to do Rock versus
Cody at any point, maybe you should have had that
the first the first match of WrestleMania instead of the
tag match. But you know, I'm still happy with what
played out. I still had a good time, and at
(01:01:28):
the end of the day, it's still all cinema. They've
done a great job. I could sit here and pick
apart at all that I want. I'm not any movie critic,
we are not wrestling journalists that if that's not us,
we do not claim to have the inside information, and
if anything, were critics. Just like everyone else, we sit
and talk about the acting job, what the story job was.
We can literally care less of the outside politics that
(01:01:52):
come through it and some of the some of the matches,
because really all I care about is the entrances, maybe
the first minute and that final five minutes, for the close,
the whole thirty minutes in between that I'm sure most
of these matches are going to be, and how most
of the matches have been under triple H. I really
don't care about. I just want to see the entrances.
I want to see how big of a star you are,
how this starts off with the heat, and I want
(01:02:12):
to see the final five minutes of the match. How
do they conclude this? But maybe that's just my eighty
HD talking.
Speaker 2 (01:02:18):
We're on the same page there, but we will probably
get slammed for saying something like that, which I don't
get I don't know. I think we are very much
a minority of wrestling fan Austin.
Speaker 1 (01:02:28):
But yeah, we just don't take the wrestling part too
seriously as everybody else does. And I guess I can
sort of see that if you really do love it,
But WWE is always pressing in itself one more of
the storylines and then you're just pleasantly surprised when, oh fuck,
that was actually a good match, I said.
Speaker 2 (01:02:44):
I mean, don't get me wrong, I love a good match,
right yeah, if you keep me hooked for twenty minutes,
I mean, hats all to you, because it's hard to do.
Speaker 1 (01:02:51):
It's got to be a good story. It's got to
be a reason. Moves have to mean something, and they
have to go for a greater meeting rather than just
this is a dream match, this guy versus this guy
in the biggest stadium, at the biggest stage, at the
biggest pay per view. Like, I mean, that's cool on paper,
but it like it doesn't really, it doesn't resonate with
the guy like me and we also, I mean, we're marks,
(01:03:12):
but we look at a little bit more casually because
wrestling doesn't surround our lives like some people.
Speaker 2 (01:03:19):
Yep, that's pretty much the theme of the podcast. If
if we have a new listener out there that's wondering
what we're all about.
Speaker 1 (01:03:25):
Oh, so you have you have two title changes on
the show, or yeah, three title changes on the show,
and you have two that stay, two that stay with us?
Speaker 2 (01:03:33):
Yep? Right, And I'm Lidy retain in the champs.
Speaker 1 (01:03:38):
Yep, okay, gotcha? And I also I had Damien Prise retaining,
and I have Live retaining and Cody Roads retaining, so
the US Championship, Intercontinental and the other women's championship. I
also have a Switching Hands. You can find more of
that out. I'm gonna put together a little graphic and
like I said, you're more than welcome to go ahead
and hit us back on social media. I'm talking an X, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, Facebook,
(01:04:03):
at baby faces pod. Go ahead, check out that graphic.
Let us know what you think. We'll go ahead and
repost all that stuff and check out the screen right
here everywhere that you can find us. And it's gonna
be a good time. I can't wait for uh, I
can't wait for this weekend. It's gonna be a concert
filled weekend. I get to reunite with my bud Billy. Yes,
we're definitely going to hit it up, do something, go
grab a beer, go just just catch up what whatever
(01:04:25):
we can do. But it's gonna be it's gonna be awesome.
You know, I can't believe summer is already over, dude.
This is like one of the shortest time. It seems
like literally not that long ago, we're both freezing our
ass off in Philly and now we're literally into football season.
Speaker 2 (01:04:40):
Yeah, like it's right there.
Speaker 1 (01:04:42):
So it's it's absolutely crazy. So you got Summer Slam,
the biggest party of the summer Cleveland brown Stadium this Sunday.
I'm pretty sure tickets are still available. They're opening up
more spots. It's gonna be really really fun. You can
go check that out. And hopefully after this will be
in some better graces of some people. I'll get to
I get to move around with some of the movers
and the shakers in the press box. Uh, maybe get
(01:05:03):
to see some of our guys up there, kind of
talk to them. We'd love to have some more WWE
people on in the future. You know. Also hit us
up if you have any indie wrestlers or anybody, uh
that would possibly love to come on this platform, let
us know. We'll reach out to them, we'll try to
get them on the show. But you know, obviously we're
looking for the big fish with the WWE two, so
we're hoping to get those. But everyone is welcome here
on the baby Faces Podcast. Billy got anything to say
(01:05:25):
to the fans, Uh.
Speaker 2 (01:05:27):
It's gonna be should be a fun weekend. You know.
SummerSlam always for me is like like you're saying, like
the last big cha bang before, you know, getting back
and especially when you're a kid, like getting back to
like all that. So it still has that sort of
like nostalgic type feeling for me. So I'm I'm definitely
excited about that. I'm excited for you for you to
(01:05:47):
see it live, right. I wish I could be there
with you, but I'm glad you'll be stopping by by
my neck of the woods up here. Sure, oh n
k y and looking forward to to hanging out again.
It's been it's been a while, you know. It's not
the I need I need to be within arms reachia
for the screen.
Speaker 1 (01:06:05):
Man, I know, it's it's it's a little bit tough.
What's funny. I was, I've been doing some door dashing
on the side and I literally about like a week ago,
I meant to text you this, but I I delivered
to like a house that was like right next years.
I'm pretty sure was your neighbors. Oh, and it was
just taking that taking that left down that street, and
I think I may have cried for a couple of minutes,
but you know, they had they had to call me
(01:06:26):
and say, hey, Austin, where's the food? Why are you
just sitting out in your car crying? Okay, to snap
out of it. You got them their stuff and we're
we're on. The day's finally come, so we'll we'll get
to hang out. Babyfaces reunite. Make sure a follow us.
You'll be able to see all the fun exclusive content
looking to put for put forward some press box stuff.
It's going to be interesting as now that we got
(01:06:47):
the whole media avenue open for us, we're gonna be
hitting different press boxes around the arenas to the things
that we can make, So be sure to check that out.
He's Billy the Kid. I'm Austin on air. You're listening
to the baby Faces podcast on I Heart Radio. We'll
see you guys, next time.
