“How much would you pay to sit in traffic for 75 minutes—with a stranger driving and your wallet crying?”In this laugh-out-loud episode of The Ben and Skin Show, the crew dives into the gritty, chaotic, and wildly entertaining reality of navigating New York City. Join Ben Rogers, Jeff “Skin” Wade, Kevin “KT” Turner, and Krystina “K-Ray” Ray as they unpack Skin’s recent trip to the Big Apple—and all the madness that came with it.From a jaw-dropping $350 Uber ride from JFK to Central Park (“It was more than our plane ticket!”) to a wine-snatching street encounter that left Skin’s daughter in tears, this episode is packed with unforgettable stories, sharp observations, and the kind of banter only this crew can deliver.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Been and Skin Show ninety some point one the Eagles.

Speaker 2 (00:02):

You gotta have the iHeart app use the talk back feature,
all that good stuff, and you'll get a chance to

Speaker 1 (00:17):
A four pack. So you're gonna be able to take
three of your homies.

Speaker 2 (00:21):
Tom Cruise versus Oasis. We'll talk about that at the
bottom of the hour, but right now it's time for
this Skinnies Track, another edition of things Skin is tracking
all right. Spent the weekend in New York, Long weekend.
I was off Friday and off Monday. We flew to

(00:43):
New York Friday morning. We got back late last night.
All of us have been to New York, right, Yeah,
what is your New York vibe?

Speaker 3 (00:52):
It's fun. It's a lot more busy, busier than I
would prefer. Like. I like smaller ish cities, you know,
like a awesome andgo. Chicago is fantastic. Sarasota, yes, that's
your jam. I love the beach. So yeah, I'm not
like a big city vacation person.

Speaker 1 (01:09):
Are you a New York guy?

Speaker 4 (01:10):
Tissel?

Speaker 1 (01:10):
Absolutely love it. I love going in in the fall too.
Oh my god. Yeah, I'm only three times though, but
I love it.

Speaker 2 (01:18):
I've been to New York with Ben. Oh you were
there too, KT, Yeah, for the Super Bowl Super Bowl fifty.
How your feelings on New York, Benny? Yeah, I took
Cat on a trip there not too long ago. I
guess it was right around the time we were launching
the Freak and it's fine.

Speaker 5 (01:35):
Oh no, I'm just like man, I don't like crowds.
I don't like overpaying for things, so it's not really
for me.

Speaker 1 (01:43):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:44):
Yeah, the crowd thing is unavoidable. I mean, it's the
most densely populated place in the United States by a
long shot. I mean, and it's also so crazy because
you can be one and a half miles from something
and it's going to take you forty two minutes to
get there. The uber from the airport to the hotel.

(02:07):
You know, there's two airports. There's LaGuardia and then there's JFK.
JFK is the bigger airport. Just guess the uber. We
we stayed right over by Central Park, Okay, okay.

Speaker 4 (02:18):
Nice.

Speaker 2 (02:19):
And the person we were with was like, no, I
gotta you know, there's four people. I gotta do a
you know, what's it called uber black or whatever?

Speaker 4 (02:26):
Oh yeah, the super one.

Speaker 1 (02:27):
Guess what?

Speaker 2 (02:28):
An uber black from the airport to the middle of
Manhattan over by the Central Park costs cost. Yeah, just
the trip.

Speaker 1 (02:35):
The trip JFK is. JFK is out past Queens.

Speaker 4 (02:40):
Okay, okay, yeah, that's that's a bit of a halt
of one hundred and fifty bucks.

Speaker 1 (02:46):
One hundred and fifty bucks. Anybody want to go higher? Lower?
I don't have a good frame reference for what it is,
but i'ld say higher.

Speaker 3 (02:53):
Yeah, higher, I'll go two fifteen to fifteen three and
fifty dollars.

Speaker 4 (02:58):
Damn, you're out there, due, dude, you're JFK's out there. Okay.
And how long? Yeah? How long was the trip?

Speaker 2 (03:04):
An hour and fifteen minutes. It was more than our
plane ticket.

Speaker 1 (03:08):
That's unbelievable.

Speaker 5 (03:10):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (03:11):
And then uh, but there is if so if you
take a cab, like nobody takes cabs anymore.

Speaker 4 (03:16):
I usually do, actually when I go on vacation.

Speaker 2 (03:18):
Yeah, so the flat fee for the cab from the
hotel back to the airport eighty five dollars.

Speaker 1 (03:24):
Nice, yep, flat fee.

Speaker 4 (03:25):
See, this is why we take cabs.

Speaker 1 (03:27):
This is why you take cabs.

Speaker 2 (03:28):
And then the other thing is, I mean, you can
get really anywhere and sometimes even get there faster if
you're willing to get on the subway.

Speaker 1 (03:35):
A lot of people aren't willing to get on the subway.

Speaker 2 (03:37):
And then a lot of people don't want to use
their brain to go Okay, wait, I get off on
this train and then I go to this train and.

Speaker 4 (03:43):
I get it.

Speaker 1 (03:43):
But dude, it saves you so much money. The subway
is so much money. Saved you so much money.

Speaker 2 (03:49):
And we we we'll go out to the boroughs. So
we'll go to Brooklyn. So you're crossing over the bridge
and all that kind of stuff. So Ubers are in
play for sure.

Speaker 1 (03:56):
Now.

Speaker 2 (03:57):
The other thing is getting in a cab, were getting
in an uber and being in those tight Manhattan streets
and amazing. And so back in the day, you know,
there's bicycle delivery. People will now Amazon Prime, think about
all the deliveries that happened with Amazon. Amazon Prime has

(04:18):
a bunch of people on bicycles, huh, and man, they
are just whipping around and driving through traffic, and it
is crazy. It's like that whole thing of evolve and
adapt and these people are just so used to that chaos.
You look at stuff and going, oh my god, that
person's gonna die.

Speaker 1 (04:37):
They're used to it.

Speaker 2 (04:39):
Yeah, every single day they're weaving in and out of that.
It's just that's their life and that's what they're accustomed.
You know.

Speaker 5 (04:46):
A little thing no one talks about is trash trucks,
which you'll jam with the side of the road because
all these businesses put their trash out front, right there
on the street.

Speaker 1 (04:53):
Yes, these trash trucks are huge.

Speaker 4 (04:55):
Yes, you gotta make room for them.

Speaker 1 (04:56):
And these cabs are just they're good, that's what they're doing.

Speaker 2 (04:59):
There was one because there's also like car stores and
stuff like in the city. So there's this one gigantic
truck trying to take a turn onto a narrow street
with cars on it.

Speaker 1 (05:10):
Yeah, like those old cities.

Speaker 5 (05:11):
Anything on the East Coast is not my thing, man,
They're just so they got so overcrowded. They were so
small originally, and it's just chaos. I kind of like
all this new stuff here, you know, in DFW.

Speaker 1 (05:24):
I'm a big fan of that. And you don't dig
San Francisco either, do you?

Speaker 3 (05:27):
No?

Speaker 1 (05:28):
Yeah, awesome though, lost.

Speaker 5 (05:31):
I mean any of these I'd go to any of
these cities for a couple of nights, right, I just
don't want to be there a long time. And then
if I have my kids with me, then that's a
whole other level of stress or whatever. But again, you know,
going there with my wife for a couple days, going
to some great restaurants, I dig that for sure.

Speaker 2 (05:47):
My son is going to be eighteen here in a month,
and he's talking about for a senior trip, wanting to
go to New York. And I'm like, all right, I
can deal with eighteen. But my wife took my daughter
to New York when she was sixteen. I don't know
if I told you guys that story where they were
just sitting at a restaurant out on the patio and
a presumably homeless man walked up, yelled something at the

(06:11):
top of his lungs, grabbed my wife's wine, slammed it,
and then smashed it on the table in front of them,
and everyone's just standing there, going, WHOA, that's a little aggressive.
And of course, my daughter's sixteen years old. That's her
first experience with something like that, and the tears come
running down the face.

Speaker 4 (06:28):
Yeah, well just happened.

Speaker 3 (06:30):
Yeah, traumatizing. She probably never wants to go back. Yeah,
she loves They went and saw Hamilton. She loved it,
all right, she absolutely loved it. It's a good four
or five day town. It is a great to get
the hell out of there after a while though we
were I would have loved to have been able to
stay a couple more days. It would have been perfect.

Speaker 2 (06:47):
But man, anytime I can squeeze in that New York
state of mind, that is a really really fun energy.

Speaker 4 (06:53):
All Right.

Speaker 5 (06:53):
There you have it. There's things skin Waight is tracking
coming up next. In the Hollywood Shuffle, this man told
us to go have a great summer. He said, let's
go get him, and then Oasis trashed him. That story
is next
