“Is the safest place during a tsunami really… the middle of the ocean?”In this wildly entertaining and slightly unhinged episode of The Ben and Skin Show, hosts Ben Rogers, Jeff “Skin” Wade, Kevin “KT” Turner, and Krystina Ray dive into the deep end—literally—with a tsunami-triggered conversation that spirals into rogue waves, sea cats, and the mythical existence of a woman named Susan Nami.KT kicks off the chaos with his Weekday Update, reporting on a massive 8.8 earthquake off the Eastern Coast of Russia that sent tsunami waves rippling toward Hawaii, California, and even prompted a bizarre advisory in North Dakota. The crew reacts with a mix of genuine concern and hilarious disbelief, especially when KT confesses: “I don’t f with the ocean.”

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Been and skin Show ninety seven point one. The Eagle
coming up at the bottom of the hour during our
news quickie, what happens when a school board member may
have porn on his computer during a meeting. Huh. We'll
get to the bottom of that story, but right now
it's time for this. Are you excited?

Speaker 2 (00:23):
Featuring veteran news anchor kt fun tweets Last night we
had a fatty, a big old earthquake. This is on
the eastern coast of Russia. It was an eight point
eight on the Richter scale.

Speaker 1 (00:37):
That's huge.

Speaker 2 (00:37):
Uh And on the UH, I was just thinking, like
eight point eight, Well, how do you even measure that?
You know, the biggest one is in nine point five?
The World Series one is the big one that I
think of, even though I was one year old about
it nineteen eighty nine.

Speaker 3 (00:53):
Nineteen eighty nine, you guys know how big that fat
he was? I mean night to make that other thing.

Speaker 2 (01:00):
Yeah, no, this is six point nine because this is
the sixth largest ever, right number six.

Speaker 1 (01:08):
Yeah, going back to your poop segment, I gotta go
measure a fatty.

Speaker 4 (01:11):
So did I know there was There was a ton
of concern and just justifiable concern, and I saw people
in Hawaii, like I saw a dad holding an infant
up on like the sixth floor or some floor of
a building, going, yeah, we've been everyone's been pulled off
the beach, out of the pools, and they say tsunami's coming,
and he was terrified. But I believe that that has

(01:32):
subsided for the most part.

Speaker 2 (01:34):
Right, Well, some tsunami waves did reach Hawaii, California, and Washington.
So an earthquake in the eastern coast of Russia, it
was in the ocean, right in the ocean, Yeah, caused
fear on the west coast of the United States. Even
North North Dakota is putting out like, hey, just so
you know, there's a tsunami advisory. You're in North Dakota,

(01:56):
you're fine, but if you have friends on the coast.
That was a joke, right, I think it was a joke,
but it's still like crazy. And I'm sitting there going, okay,
I couldn't even like sleep last night. While I could
never sleep, but I was like, I kind of don't
want to go to bed until I find out what
happens with this tsunami.

Speaker 3 (02:09):
I don't f with the ocean, the.

Speaker 2 (02:11):
Ocean is just I have the same feelings about this
story as I had about the submersible. That story creaked
me out. I was also obsessed with it, but it
creeped me out because the ocean.

Speaker 3 (02:21):
I don't mess with it.

Speaker 1 (02:22):
Bro Is that because of Atlantis.

Speaker 2 (02:25):
No, it's just it's like a it's it's the unknown.
I think how deep and dark it is. I don't
like flying over it, like getting in it. In general,
it's just not good.

Speaker 1 (02:37):
You guys like getting seaweed in your toes.

Speaker 3 (02:41):
No, I jump. Who doesn't jump every time?

Speaker 2 (02:43):
A seaweed?

Speaker 4 (02:44):
Yeah, you think it's a shark.

Speaker 1 (02:47):
It's a shark, whisker.

Speaker 2 (02:49):
It's a cross. It could be a catfish and catfish
you kind of have a little teeth. A lot of
catfish in the ocean. Nothing sucks worse than trying to
jump in the ocean. Christina, That's such a difficult task.
It's exhausting.

Speaker 3 (03:02):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (03:02):
I'm the same way. That's why to me, Like I
told you my wife went on that cruise. It's just
not appealing to me in any way. Like you're out
in the international waters, it's you gotta worry about pirates, sharks, roofies. Yeah,
it's there's nothing but danger at every turn.

Speaker 2 (03:23):
What's creepy is though the tsunami takes the water in
and then brings it.

Speaker 4 (03:28):
Back at you as the tectonic plates shift or whatever,
that water rushes into that hole and then it spits
it back out.

Speaker 3 (03:34):
I don't even know how it works.

Speaker 1 (03:36):
I like Ben's description.

Speaker 3 (03:38):
It's the best thing I've got heard so far.

Speaker 4 (03:40):
Yeah, yeah, I mean it's it is. It is tectonic
plates that are supposedly always shifting, and when they get
jammed up, there's all that massive friction and then finally
they just explode.

Speaker 2 (03:54):
I saw one video of a guy who was on
He had his boat uh docked I guess or on
the coast of Wahi, and he showed it.

Speaker 3 (04:03):
There's a bunch of them.

Speaker 2 (04:03):
He goes, we've all been told to evacuate, and because
of what's going to happen here, the safest place to
be during a tsunami is out at.

Speaker 1 (04:11):
Sea, in the middle of the ocean.

Speaker 2 (04:13):
So they were all going out to the middle of
the ocean from their island in Hawaii.

Speaker 3 (04:20):
This doesn't sound like good advice. This is like your
truck driving.

Speaker 1 (04:24):
That's why it's that's why it's being relayed.

Speaker 3 (04:26):
Does that's why he likes it?

Speaker 4 (04:27):
You're right, Christina, Here, he says in a tornado drive away,
outrun the tornado. Like. One of the things I worry
about being at.

Speaker 1 (04:35):
Sea a rogue wave. Okay, you know what that is.
It's when a wave goes road.

Speaker 4 (04:40):
It's like, all of a sudden, a tidal wave smashes
the side of your boat and it's just a rogue
wave out in the biggest wave ever. It is just
out chilling in the middle of the ocean. Perfect storm. Yeah,
tsunami I'm assuming could cause multiple rogue waves.

Speaker 3 (04:54):
Yeah, no doubt. Why would just kind of happening.

Speaker 1 (04:55):
So why would you go out there? But Kevin, I
don't know, because it's.

Speaker 2 (04:58):
Still it was gonna wipe out your if it gets
its craped together as it gets sucked into the middle
and then comes at you with a force almost like
the wedge on kick returns. Yeah, it comes, it's coming
at you. It's gonna destroy you. That's what I think
they were thinking.

Speaker 3 (05:13):
Either way.

Speaker 2 (05:13):
I mean my tornado thing too. By the way, let's
not gloss over that I'm still here.

Speaker 1 (05:20):
Okay, that's nice that he proved a lot there.

Speaker 4 (05:24):
Well, but the three of us, we all don't subscribe
to your dumbass tornado thing, and we're still here in
your face.

Speaker 1 (05:32):
Well, we'll see how it pans out. Do you think
I hope that this one day pans out. I hope
that one of us dies from a tornado so we
can finally settle the score. Do you do you think?
Do you think anywhere in the world there is a
person named Susan Nami? I thought about that today soon Ami, Yes, yeah,
Do you think somewhere in the world there is a

(05:52):
Susan Nomi?

Speaker 3 (05:54):
Uh? Sure, there has to be.

Speaker 1 (05:56):
That your job to me. I'll agree with your torn
tornado opinion if you can book her, all right, If
you can find her and book Susannami, then I will.

Speaker 3 (06:07):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (06:07):
She's a researcher with a PhD who is affiliated with
the University of Tabriz in Iran.

Speaker 1 (06:12):
Get her on.

Speaker 2 (06:13):
She's a researcher in the Department of Theoretical Physics.

Speaker 1 (06:16):
First question, does she pronounce it Iran or Iran or
whatever you just said? That's the first question. Yeah, Hey,
I got a question for you. Yes, all right, all
right there it is the weekly Weekday update
