That was a good That was a beautiful moment when
the Buddy saved Joe Biden.

Speaker 3 (00:15):
You're listening to the forty seven Morning Update with Ben Ferguson.

Speaker 2 (00:19):
Welcome, It is the forty seven Morning Update. Ben Ferguson
with you, and here are three big stories that you
may have missed that we talked about this week. First up,
there is a radical judge. It was busted actually harboring
people that are considered terrorists from these hardcore criminal gangs.
What happened to him. We'll have that story for you

(00:39):
in just a moment. Also, Donald Trump decided to meet
with retail CEOs about tariffs and what was the takeaway
deals are starting to get very close to getting done.
And finally, Linna McMahon joins us from the Treaty Room
at the White House to talk about waste at the
Department of Education and working with DOE. Is the forty

(01:01):
seven Morning Update and it starts right now.

Speaker 3 (01:03):
Story number one, there's a pretty.

Speaker 2 (01:05):
Interesting trend that is happening now with the Democratic Party.
They are now in love with terrists, terrorists that are
in radical gangs in this country, and they're doing everything
they can to protect them, and say the American people,
we've seen this from congressmen and sentators that are running
down to meet with MS thirteen gang members held in Venezuela,

(01:26):
for example. And now we may know a little bit
more about just how corrupt the Democratic Party is, how
compromised they are by these gangs that have been declared
terrorists organizations look to the New headline. A Democratic judge
in New Mexico has been forced to resign from his
bench after immigration agents arrested a alleged trend diiragu gang

(01:51):
member living in his home. The illegal alien entered into
the US in Alpaso, Texas, before being released on an
immigrantion parole. Due to overcrowding, he eventually moved. We've now
learned to New Mexico well. Federal prosecutors in the District
of New Mexico alleged at the twenty three year old

(02:12):
was illegally in possession of a firearm and has direct
ties to the hyper violent Venezuelan gang. Earlier this year,
President Donald Trump in the US State Department declared the
gang to be a foreign terrorist organization. Police arrested Lopez
while executing a search warrant on February the twenty eighth
at the home of don On, a County, New Mexico

(02:34):
magistrate judge and his wife. The Albuquerque Journal is reporting now.
The report follows a detention hearing where prosecutors claim the
illegal alien is a flight risk and an alleged trende
Aragua gang member Kanu. A former police officer, allowed the
gang member to file a request for immigration relief using

(02:55):
the judge's residential address. This isn't a Now, that's not all.
We also now in court exhibits have seen pictures that
were posted on social media of the foreign national with
the judge. Yes, they're good friends. Court records obtained revealed
that Lopez, a Venezuelan national, entered the United States illegally

(03:18):
an Eagle Pass during the peak of the Biden border
crisis in December of twenty twenty three, and then due
to overcrowding in the Eagle Passed attention facility, he was
released three days later. Social media posts obtained by the
US Attorney's Office for the District of New Mexico show
Lopez and other illegal aliens at a shooting range. They

(03:40):
appeared to be in possession of multiple firearms at a
large quantity of handguns and rifle ammunition. In one image,
the man is also holding an AR fifteen style rifle
in one hand and a semi automatic pistol in the other.
A video shows the Venezuelan migrant in possession of another
AR fifteen equipped with a suppressor. He fired the rifle
until empty and then reloaded it with a new magazine,

(04:02):
which he continued to fire. The prosecutor stated now the
photos and videos show Lopez displaying the Trendeo Raga gang tattoos.
The United States government recently declared this violent gang to
be a quote transnational criminal organization. As well, Investigators found
additional firearms in a neighboring home owned by Nancy Kano's

(04:23):
daughter that would be the judge's daughter. Lopez was seen
in possession of several of these firearms. Investigators report that
the Venezuelan national move to Olpasso after being released by
border patrol agents. There he roomed with five other people,
court document state, and while living there, Lopez met Nancy
Kano and began doing construction and handy man jobs. Kano

(04:47):
extended an offer for the illegal alien to live in
the casida behind her home. Now, other images from Lopez's
cell phone obtained by bright Bart News show graphic images
of multiple decapitated and mutually bodies. Let me say that again.
Other images from Lopez's phone obtained by Breitbart News show

(05:07):
graphic images of multiple decapitated and mutilated bodies. Lopez is
currently in the Donna Ana County Detention Center, where he's
charged with being an illegal alien in possession of firearms. Now,
it's not clear if Judge Conno or his wife Nancy
will be charged with harboring an illegal alien or providing

(05:28):
material support to a foreign terrorist organization. But if you
want to know whose side the left is on, well
just take a look at this new Mexico Democratic judge
and what did it cost him when he was busted
for all this? I only I just had to resign
after Ice arrested the gang member in his home.

Speaker 3 (05:46):
Next story number two.

Speaker 2 (05:48):
Monday was a very big day at the White House,
not just because it was the Easter egg role, but
Donald Trump also met with major US retailers to discuss tariffs.
This time, the President set down with major retailers including Walmart,
Home Depot, Lows, and Target to discuss the broad based
tariffs likely to raise the cost of everyday goods that

(06:10):
they import. Now, big US chains like Walmart and Target
they rely heavily on imported goods, and tariffs, including the
one hundred and forty five percent levies on China, are expected.
They claim to add strain on Americans already burdened by
prolonged inflation. That is, obviously their talking point is they

(06:30):
want everything to go back to cheap Chinese goods, regardless
of what it means for American workers. Now, this meeting
was important and it adds to what we have seen
over the last several weeks as prominent CEOs of express
support for President Donald Trump's economic policies, highlighting potential benefits

(06:51):
for their industries as well in the long term. The
CEO of JP Morgan Chase has acknowledged the strategic use
of tariffs as economic tools, stating that if they are
slightly inflammatory but beneficial for national security, then it's acceptable.
The CEO of Goldman Sachs know that the business community
understands the administration's engagement and appreciates the efforts to involve

(07:16):
them in policy discussions, which is exactly why the President
decided to bring in companies like Low's and Walmart and
Home Depot and Target. The CEO of Bank of America
also highlighted that favorable regulatory changes under Trump's administration could
provide companies with the certainty to be more aggressive as
interest rates decrease. Additionally, as you know, tech leaders like

(07:39):
Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, and Jeff Bezos have showed interest
in engaging with Trump's administration, drawing to his pro growth
agenda and favorable economic policies such as tax cuts and
major issues of deregulation. Now, these developments indicate a trend
among corporate leaders to align with President Trump's economic policies,

(08:03):
focusing on potential benefits such as tax reductions, deregulation, and
increase capital investment. Now, as for these new companies that
have come to the table like Walmart and Home Depot,
one of the things the President has made clear things
are going to change. It may not be what's best
for your company in the short term, but it's what's

(08:23):
best for Americans. In the long term, including American workers.
He's also making it clear to these companies that Liberation
Day included allowing American workers to get back into manufacturing.
And that's exactly what the message need to be to
so many of these companies that were relying on cheap
goods and cheap labor in China. Trump's tariff policies have

(08:47):
obviously sent ripples across numerous industries around the world, and
the President said that was all part of the strategy. Now,
US stocks are going up and down as many are expecting,
with year treasury notes and the US dollar also coming
under some pressure. The present made it clear this is
short term for a massive shift in how this country

(09:10):
works when it comes to importing goods from countries, especially
that are adversaries to the United States of America. And
having these important conversations the White House clearly means that
the conversation is moving forward and getting closer to resolution.

Speaker 3 (09:25):
And here is story number three.

Speaker 2 (09:27):
What was the biggest waste of tax dollars that you've
uncovered at DOGE And let's start there.

Speaker 1 (09:34):
Well, I can tell you know what they First of all,
let me say I welcomed the DOGE group that came
in and has been looking at a lot of the
wasteful spending that has been going on. I think one
of the things that jumped out at me was that
we had about six hundred million dollars that we were
spending on teacher training programs. Now that's a hundred million,
So now that sounds, you know, incredibly like a good

(09:57):
amount of money to be spending on a good thing
to train our teachers. But what we really were finding
was that most of the programs at that point were
really focused on DEI training, yeah, and not on what
excuse me, you would typically be looking at, you know,
for teacher training. And so we took back that money

(10:18):
and we shut down that kind of training program. So
that was one that just jumped out at me.

Speaker 2 (10:22):
So is it fair to say the Department of Education?
And I have a sister, she's in an inner city
school and she's doing the best that she can. My
mom was a teacher, my aunt was a principal. Like
I come from that world. But what is sad to
me is it seems like the Department of Education has
basically decided we're going to indoctrinate kids instead of educate kids,

(10:43):
and we're going to do it in a way with
using taxpayer dollars to indoctrinate them and what we believe
in instead of reading, writing, and arithmetic. How far off
am I on that from a national standpoint.

Speaker 1 (10:52):
You know, far off on that at all. And what
we have really seen, I mean, think about this, Ben.
The Department of Education was established in nineteen eighty and
since that time, we have spent over three trillion dollars
in education, and our performance scores have continued to go down.
And you know, I don't I don't say there haven't
been things that have been tried. I mean, the Bush

(11:13):
administration tried no Child Left Behind. Yeah, Barack Obama tried
race to the top. But we're failing in the mission
of teaching our our students. And I think the reason
for that is we have gotten away from basics. We've
gotten away from teaching reading and teaching arithmetic. And so

(11:34):
what we're finding in schools that are showing improvement in
scores is that they have returned to the science of reading,
teaching phonics, teaching repetitive you know, just memorization like in
mathematics for your times table and things like that, and
then building upon that base. You know, up through third
grade you are learning to read, and after third grade

(11:56):
you're reading to learn, and if you can't read, you
know going to be able to learn. So we found
that a lot of the fall off, if you will,
in education is because we're not teaching the basics, and
so a little return to that basics is great. Now
a lot of other things it can be introduced that
can be helpful, like AI Yes, because they're.

Speaker 2 (12:16):
How far behind are we on technology? Oh, just because
it seems like we're back twenty years ago and all
of a sudden, now are thirty years ago in technology
and we're having these kids go out in the world.
I laughed the other day I was talking to a
group of students and the students said that at they're
high school, they were still teaching them to do photography

(12:38):
and develop film. And You're like, for what reason that
doesn't happen anymore?

Speaker 1 (12:43):
You're not going to use Is that going to be
their major when they go off? Right a career path
that they want to be on, If it's a career
path they want to be on them off for that right.

Speaker 2 (12:51):
However, it's digital Now pictures are digital, and they're like
the teacher has been there and said, well, this is
how we've always done it. That was a response to students.
I'm like, we're paying that salary to someone who's literally
saying I refuse to move forward.

Speaker 1 (13:03):
Yeah, And I just think that just goes to the
bigger problem of how I think education is not in
touch with the communities. It's not in touch with the
industries that we need. And that's what we need to
make sure of that we are educating our students for
you know, for their for their livelihood. What you know,
what what does industry need? What does the community need?

(13:26):
You'll hear most universities say that we want to make
sure we can keep students in the community when we're
when we're training them. But if you don't understand what
the community, what industry, what business needs, or what technology needs,
et cetera, you can't construct a proper curriculum to fill
you know, that need, and you'll find we won't be successful.
