Speaker 1 (00:00):
It spans the gold like a super highway interis. It
is called and download with Danielle. I never know what
you're gonna hear America, will hear my two cents on
Boston's classic rock one hundred point seven w ZLX.
Speaker 2 (00:18):
A Cambridge man and I use that term very very loosely.
Jaden Depena has been charged with two counts of animal
cruelty after allegedly swinging a cat by its tail and
repeatedly slamming it on the ground. According to MSPCA Angel
Medical Center, that one year old cat, who has been
named Stage, suffered a broken tail, long contusions, and evidence
of older injuries consistent with the pass for abuse. That
(00:40):
case came to light after an anonymous tip and video
evidence surfaced earlier this month. Evidently this cat is from
off a building twice set it Angel last year for
a fractured a fracture in the roof of his mouth
and broken toes. But they didn't, you know, there were
no signs of abuse at that point, so it just
seemed like it was an accident that happened. And now
we've gone into this, so the cat has been surrendered.
(01:00):
He's doing much better. He's been treated you scheduled for
a newter surgery. He's coming out of his shell, so
he will be soon available for adoption by the fine
folks over at the MSPCA Boston Adoption Center.
Speaker 1 (01:10):
You know me, I don't claim to be a tough guy,
but give me ten minutes alone with this dude.
Speaker 2 (01:14):
Yeah, this guy's at pos what like just up to you.
I think he's just like just just like, why do
you even have an animal?
Speaker 1 (01:21):
Why? Yeah, yes, they bother you so much. Don't have it?
Speaker 2 (01:24):
Just throw a cat off a building, swinging around by
its tail, like multiple fractures and injuries. I just it's
that's serial killer level stuff. Ten minutes, it's a precursor.
Speaker 1 (01:34):
Give us ten minutes.
Speaker 2 (01:35):
Boston Deputy Neighborhood Director Sierra Demico is accused of repeatedly
striking a woman in the face with a high heeled
shoe during a reported attack involving her father and two
sisters last Friday in the North End.
Speaker 1 (01:46):
Oh, hang on a second, which one? This one? So
good evening everyone.
Speaker 3 (01:50):
My name is Sierra Dimico from the Mayor's Office of
Neighborhood Services.
Speaker 4 (01:55):
I'm your North then West End in Wharf District Liaison.
Speaker 2 (01:59):
Is it to be formerly of the Mayor's office pretty
soon after. The videos of this interaction are pretty wild,
but according to a police report, the incident reportedly began
when her dad, John Demiko, allegedly punched the victim and
threatened her family before his daughters jumped in and joined
on the assault. No arrests have been made, although the
victim did provide police with one of the shoes that
(02:19):
was allegedly used in the attack and reported receiving threats.
Video of that altercation is circulating online. Mayor Ru's office
has not commented on Tomiko's employments.
Speaker 1 (02:28):
Shoe was it? It was a high heeled show.
Speaker 2 (02:30):
It was a high he Okay, yeah, I mean a
stiletto attack is always it's aggressive.
Speaker 1 (02:35):
But it's a different kind of attack than if I
hit you with a sneaker.
Speaker 2 (02:37):
One hundred percent way less surfacing, a lot more. Yeah,
you're gonna puncture some things. Maybe take an eye out.
Lawmakers and educators are backing a bill that would ban
cell phones and personal devices in public schools grades K
through twelve from bell to bell. If passed, districts must
adopt a state approved policy by the twenty twenty six
twenty twenty seven school year, with exceptions for health needs,
(02:58):
i EP students and off campus programs. Supporters say those
bands cut down on bullying and distractions, although some parents
worry about losing communication access to their kids during the day.
This is doctor Anna Nolan, superintendent of Newton Schools.
Speaker 4 (03:10):
We're seeing all kinds of changes in behavior. So at
the school that we piloted this in a year ago,
there was a significant reduction in during the day bullying
that had occurred. Teachers say that they do not have
to fight with students about putting the cell phone away.
Speaker 1 (03:27):
I can't wait to talk to some of my friends' kids,
like my nieces and god daughter and godson. See what
you think about this? Yeah, I wonder if they would
like it or not. I think it's kind of split.
Speaker 2 (03:36):
Like from my friends who have mostly high school aged kids,
they're kind of like some of them are like, you
know what, actually be kind of glad not to have
to be tethered to my phone all day. But some
of them pride out of their cold dead hands exactly.
So if you are a fan of Celsius or Hei noon,
rather might want to check your cans and that's not
code high Noon is issued a recall for two lots
(03:58):
of its Beach Valley Beach for Ight packs, I should say,
after discovering that some cans were mistakenly filled with vodka
Seltzer but labeled as Celsius Astro Vibe Sparkling Blue Rows
energy drinks. That mix up was caused by a packaging
suppli or error. No illnesses have been reported, but the
company does warn of potential unintentional alcohol ingestion. Not great
if you're a sober individual and you rely on the
(04:18):
energy drinks and then oh wait, this is a vodka Seltzer.
Speaker 1 (04:21):
What's what's this? I haven't had a drink in like
what nine months? I think, So imagine if I drank
one of these bis, like if my first drink back
into the game is an accident, I'm going to be pissed.
Speaker 2 (04:29):
Yes, one percent, I would not blame you. They urge
consumers to check lot codes that are listed in the
notice issued by the FDA and dispose of the affected cans,
and thousands lined the streets of Birmingham, England, as Ozzy
Osbourne's funeral procession made its way to the Black Sabbath
Bench Memorial his Hearst carried purple flowers spelling out Ozzy
and a floral cross on the roof. Sharon Osbourne, joined
(04:52):
by children Jack, Kelly, Amy and stepson Lewis, greeted mourners
with Ozzy's signature peace sign. Each family member wore a
special accessory to honor him him, including Sharon's necklace with
his wedding ring and Amy's batproach. Seventy six degrees in
Boston right now, see you, I have eighty three on
the way, some thunder showers in the forecast later, so
just be aware of that.
Speaker 1 (05:10):
I'm Danielle. That's your download. Speaking of Ozzie. H eight thirty.
Every morning we do the check in with Chuck and
we're going to relive last week's check in, which was
the day after Ozzie passed away when we paid tribute
to him.
Speaker 5 (05:21):
So stay tuned for that cool one point seventy seconds
of sports with Tyler.
Speaker 1 (05:27):
You know you're a big travel blog. You got the
Launderwust thing going Wanderwust wander lust, I say, Launderst. Maybe
I did start drinking again. Hello, Seet, grab that wander
lust that is due. But would you ever go to Minnesota?
In the summer. That does sound like a Danielle destination.
Speaker 2 (05:43):
I'm more of an international person, so I mean, I
am going to Saint Louis November, but that's Missouri. But
I don't know that I would go to I don't
know that I would go to night.
Speaker 1 (05:51):
I only asked because the Socks just went and they
had a good time. They took three from the site
for them, we'll take it. And they ended the series
in style too, blowout whin yesterday. A lot of offense
to get to. But first, here's the boys flashing a
little leather.
Speaker 6 (06:04):
Three two runner goes and a ground ball and a
base hitting the last center.
Speaker 1 (06:09):
Climont's heading into third, digging away. Ben.
Speaker 6 (06:13):
Here's the throat of the plate and the ten years
out at home. Let's go, Clement's cut down.
Speaker 1 (06:19):
I love Marlona getting fired up. Let's go, Let's go.
Don't normally highlight plays like that during my quick little
sports report, but I had to because the Socks are
next to last in all of baseball and defense with aris,
so let's highlight those every chance we get. Socks got
the offense going early. Trevor Story at the plate right
here in the second inning.
Speaker 6 (06:37):
Swaying at a drive here by story suck back to
the wall. You go get that balls on the air
head cut out. It's on a line shot, Trevor, sorry
is put the red sox in front.
Speaker 1 (06:48):
That was two seconds here born and out of here.
It was a quick one that there was a line shot.
It looked like a base hit off the wall at
best and ended up going out. So nice job there.
From story to Ibraham Toro had a sack fly in
the third. Jared duran single to center in the fifth
for two of his four RBIs, and that knocked out
Twins started Zebbie Matthews. Twin's got no relief from their pen.
By the way, justin Topa came in, walked the first
(07:10):
two guys. He faith leaving the bases loaded for Yoshidah.
Speaker 6 (07:14):
All right, grab ball through for base in that chases
grand Hair cups story, two rugs in Massa comes through,
red socks open it up six to one.
Speaker 1 (07:25):
Bo Wait, Danielle, there's more. Here's Jared Durant at the
plate in the sixth with Roman Anthony on base.
Speaker 6 (07:30):
They'll swing it up high fly ball right field, backing
up Walder.
Speaker 1 (07:34):
He's turning around.
Speaker 6 (07:35):
That baby's gone way on it.
Speaker 7 (07:37):
Here.
Speaker 6 (07:38):
Here's the leven Tope bront of the year at two
run shot, and the Red Socks are turning this one
into a lapper in Minnesolta.
Speaker 1 (07:44):
Yeah, Durant says trade that. I love Marlone's exclamation point
at the end of that, because Jared Durand's name has
been tossed around like a rag doll about trades, So
get rid of him. Go ahead. That offense is gonna
go somewhere else. I could do this all day, but
we don't have time. The Socks, they weren't even close
have done. They tacked on five more in the ninth
big blowout win thirteen to one. Brian Bao on the
Hill got it done again, seven strong, giving up only
(08:07):
one run. He's now had nine quality starts in his
past ten outings. Socks got the day off today as
they head home for a six game homestand with the
Astros this weekend and then the Royals early next week.
Trade deadline six pm today. I'm wondering if the Sock
is gonna make any moves. We'll see a few highlights
from yesterday. The Mariners are finalizing a trade for Diamondbacks
third baseman Eugenio Suarez, who is the most coveted bat
(08:29):
this deadline season. The Cubs they boasted their rotation, grabbing
Michael Soroka from the Nats, and the Phillies got the
closer they've been looking for when they traded for twins
closer Johann Duran. Finally, one cool note from pass training camp.
I know it's only been a few days, but Drake
mays you have to throw a pick. Just throwing that
out there, maybe that's a sign of things to come.
Let's help when the season starts. All right, that sports,
(08:50):
I'm Tyler. This is the Chuck Noland Morning Show on ZLX.

Do the one Note Challenge one more time. This one. Okay,
we talked off the air. I think this is super
hard Danielle says, it's probably not as hard as I
think it is.
Speaker 2 (10:30):
I think I have an unfair advantage on this one
because it's a song that I used to use a
lot for production elements.
Speaker 1 (10:37):
Okay, go, yeah, all right, so maybe it's not as
hard as I think. All Right, Mars, here we go.
You gotta tell me the name of the song and
who sings it. Here's the note? Get ready? Gotta give
it to you again? On third times a charm? There
it is? Is it ring any bell at all? No?
(11:03):
Oh my god, no, Mars, I'm so sorry. I really
wanted to grill you on Saturday about this name.
Speaker 5 (11:09):

wrong when I think they're gonna be super hardy, they're not.
Third guy, got it, food Fighters learned to fly? Last
hour took twenty five people. Oh wow, Yeah, I got
lucky on this one. You're You're a legend, Steve. Congratulations.
All right, you're gonna go see Lincoln Park tomorrow night
at the Garden. There's second of two shows back to back.
That's gonna be killer. I always feel like the second
night is better than the first. I don't know why,
(12:22):
but you'll have fun at that. And dude, you're invited.
We'll see you Saturday noon to two at the tall

Murder holding it down. The best of the Chuck Nolan
(13:05):

Speaker 1 (13:21):
All right, our guy Chuck is back tomorrow morning, Danielle.
We've been having fun without him, but we're having a
very good time. But he'll be back, thankfully. The Kingdom
z X will be back also, so if anybody doesn't know, so,
Chuck did afternoons here Alex for a couple of years,
just one or two maybe, and his replacement we kept
it in house. We did Kenny, great guy who was
(13:44):
the night rocker forever, was on the morning show forever,
and now he's doing Afternoon Drive and he's coming in hot.
He talked to Joe Perry yesterday, big interview. We're gonna
play a clip of it for you right now where
he talks about Arrasmith. But you can catch the whole interview.
Go to the iHeartRadio app or w ZX dot com
to hear the whole thing. But he I know he
(14:04):
was trying to get something out of Joe, but an
Arrowsmith reunion, and here's how it went.
Speaker 2 (14:10):
See.
Speaker 9 (14:11):
No, well, this question is too good to keep down Joe,
and I know you know what's coming, but I think
I would be fired if I didn't ask this question. Unfortunately,
Aerosmith's fiftieth anniversary.
Speaker 1 (14:22):
Farewell tour was cut short.
Speaker 9 (14:24):
There's been so much chatter online the possibility of a
one off Aerosmith show. We all saw Steven crush it
at the Black Sabbath. Back to the beginning show, he
sounded dynamite. I understand you guys have at least been
talking right.
Speaker 8 (14:38):
Oh, yeah, you know we're actually talking quite a bit.
I know a touring days are over, but I don't
know it's hot to me.
Speaker 9 (14:46):
No, No, but I mean the fans, I mean we
had to understand that where everyone was coming from.
Speaker 1 (14:50):
We understand.
Speaker 8 (14:51):
I mean, yeah, we're all flushing flushing blood, you know.
And from the beginning to the point I would I
don't know, man, I would say, at some point is
going to be some we'll all be together on the
certain stage.
Speaker 1 (15:03):
So you're telling me there's a chance.
Speaker 8 (15:05):
I was a betting man, which I am, or also
wouldn't I would, I would, I would say it's some
at some point, something's gonna happen, but.
Speaker 1 (15:13):
We'll see awesome.
Speaker 9 (15:15):
Well, we the you know, the fans, the members of
the Blue Army will be very thankful when and if
that day comes.
Speaker 1 (15:20):
Joking.
Speaker 5 (15:21):
Wanted to check just.
Speaker 1 (15:23):
Check it in on my buddy.
Speaker 10 (15:25):
It's time to check in.
Speaker 1 (15:28):
Chuck on Boston's Classic Rock one hundred point seven w
z l X. You can check in with Chuck Live
tomorrow when he's back. We're gonna hear so many things.
We have so much to catch up on with our guy.
He has an entire vacation. He has to fill in.
Speaker 2 (15:43):
Ie, what do we need to know about Infinity Pool, whiskey, rum, Swizzles, coffee,
Kelly being almost topless in a video.
Speaker 1 (15:51):
I mean I kind of nailed it. Yeah, I think
that's the cliffs notes for it.
Speaker 2 (15:55):
And Chuck wearing a rash guard with long sleeves because
he's pale.
Speaker 1 (15:58):
Oh god, I can't wait here about it. So every
day at this time at eight thirty, we do the
checking with Chuck. This is the Chuck Nolan Morning Show.
By the way, that's Daniel Murr. She lives here on
z X now every day too. I'm back. Yeah, I'm Tyler.
I'm here with him every day as well. We have
a lot of fun. We're reliving some of our memories
from the first three plus months of the show. While
Chuck has been out worst part, worst thing ever. Last week,
(16:18):
Ozzy Osbourne passed away, just brutal. They had his funeral
yesterday and he said he wanted it to be a
party when he goes out, not like some crying and
you know all that, right, And I think he got
what he wanted. Oh yeah, it was. I mean I
saw some of the clips on social it was incredible.
Speaker 2 (16:34):
It was quite the turnout because I kind of, you know,
speculated about this a while back, like will they do
a big thing like, you know, like the royal wedding,
Like everybody's going to be out and about, and that's
what it felt like to me looking at the footage.
Speaker 1 (16:48):
It really did feel that way. And everybody's still going
on social matter of fact, Jack Jack Zach Wilde less
than an hour ago went on the artist formerly known
as Twitter and said, thanks for making life amazing.
Speaker 6 (16:58):
Odds.
Speaker 1 (16:59):
You've always been and always will be the greatest. I
love you beyond forever. Zach Man, this is a bummer.
We lost oz. The good news is we paid a
killer tribute to him, all right, Yeah, and we are
going to relive that right now. This is a two parter.
This is This is basically you guys calling us to
tell us how much you miss Ozzie and what his
(17:19):
music meant to your life. Good show. What's up? This
is Matt listening to him from Buzz's Bay.
Speaker 3 (17:26):
Back in two thousand and seven, the year oz Fest
was pre I was doing an interview with Lamagoth on
my college radio station. That night, I got to encounter
Ozzie himself. Thought about what to say. I approached him
and said, hey, Ozzie, I'm a huge fan. The first
time I saw Sabbath I was only thirteen, looked at me,
shook my hand and just said the first time I
joined Sabbath, I took as up at thirty straight first
(17:47):
in the laftist.
Speaker 5 (17:48):
I enjoy the show, lad, wow, and that is why
Ozzie is a role model.
Speaker 1 (17:53):
Yeah, oh that's fantastic. That's a good one.
Speaker 8 (17:57):
A shock.
Speaker 1 (17:57):
This is Kevin and weston the Osbourne.
Speaker 8 (18:01):
My first content ever was a Bargain at the Moon
saw at the Boston.
Speaker 5 (18:05):
Got and the place was popping.
Speaker 1 (18:07):
Oddy was popping.
Speaker 8 (18:09):
The second hand bolve was amazing.
Speaker 7 (18:11):
I think I got my first contact high there.
Speaker 1 (18:13):
It was that put Garvey.
Speaker 5 (18:15):
Into Ozzie with that caustic he was the best RBS.
Speaker 1 (18:19):
Alrightp Oz Yes.
Speaker 7 (18:21):
I was fortunate enough to see Sabbath at their final
show in Madison Square Garden the Birmingham Show a couple
of weeks ago. I got to meet Ozzie down in Pennsylvania.
But one of the coolest memories was at that birthday
show back in twenty eighteen. During the sound check for
Bark at the Moon, it was pouring, but the second
(18:42):
Aussie stepped on stage, the rain stopped and the second.
Speaker 1 (18:47):
He left started back up. Again. God bless Ozzy, Prince
of Jorges and rain control. He controlled it. Yeah with
the never cloud seating. We need Ozzie back right. Yeah.
I wish Danielle was with us back in twenty eighteen
for the sea like birthday showed. That was that was
fun scene. But that was like a hurricane down pours
were amazing. Oh my god, we can put some thunder
(19:09):
and the lightning cracking reme thinking like this is perfect
because it's awesome. Yes, like you can't. This has to
be the weather for us. It was so much fun,
so much fun.
Speaker 5 (19:18):
Tony Tony, Tony has a West Coast good morning.
Speaker 3 (19:24):
Hey.
Speaker 8 (19:25):
So yeah, so this proved that Ozzy was human. A
friend of mine was out in the valley doing some
late night in a twenty four hour grocery store. Turned
the corner low and behold there's Ozzy holding a handwritten
shopping list and I'm sure Sharon, and he's like, hey,
you can help me find something, And he ended up
(19:46):
doing the entire shotting he has shipped in and you know,
a memorable sence. I mean, who bumps into Ozzy in
a grocery store?
Speaker 1 (19:54):
Excuse, what's what's the.
Speaker 5 (20:00):
You know you can picture that in your mind, just
totally confused in a grocery.
Speaker 8 (20:05):
Store, looking over and where.
Speaker 1 (20:14):
Oh my gosh, that's awesome, Sharon's sending, Why would you
do that? There's way too much responsibility, way too much.
That is crazy.
Speaker 10 (20:24):
Before you call to deal good call us six, one,
seven and nine three one twenty seven.
Speaker 1 (20:30):
It's the Chuck no Online Show on w c LX.
The Man, the Myth, the Legend. Chuck Olan will be
back tomorrow. That's daniel Murr. I'm Tyler. We are reliving
some of the greatest moments from the first three and
a half months of the brand new Chuck Nolan Morning Show.
If for some strange reason, you're just tuning us in
for the first time in the morning, No, you didn't know.
(20:52):
Bad voice sounds familiar. That is Danielle Murr.
Speaker 7 (20:55):
It's me.
Speaker 1 (20:55):
She lives here now on ZLX, Chuck Nolan moves from
the afternoon to the morning. Kenny youung is in the

I mean, and there you go. That's the ls all right,
So we're into part two of the check in with
Chuck that we do every morning at eight thirty last
week's check in on believe it was Thursday or Friday.
Which day did Ozzie die? Was it Wednesday or Thursday?
(21:16):
I think it was Wednesday. Yeah, so the next day, Yeah,
we did a whole Ossie tribute during the check in,
and you guys took over and and just explained exactly
how you felt about Ozzie. Uh, I know we did.
And here's part two. Good show, Good morning, guys.
Speaker 5 (21:34):
I just want to say, you guys are like the
greatest DJ's ever to come in yesterday and do a
tribute to.
Speaker 1 (21:45):
The French of darkness Ozzy Osbourne was just phenomenal. You
guys are the best. Keep it up and uh blest
in piece.
Speaker 5 (21:56):
It's very nice, very nice, Yes, absolutely, even though I
only had a bull of Sario yesterday.
Speaker 1 (22:04):
All right, that's all right, woe is me? Just look
at me? I barely a please survey. I have some
more I you did and you know what you're meant
for it.
Speaker 11 (22:15):
Thank you, Grandma.
Speaker 1 (22:15):
You're welcome.
Speaker 6 (22:16):
Appreciate that I.
Speaker 1 (22:17):
Learned not so much, but all right, get more great
talk backs from you guys. Thank you. So the soundtrack
of my youth in my life right now, always going
to be in my life.
Speaker 12 (22:28):
I love you, Ausy.
Speaker 1 (22:30):
We're gonna miss you.
Speaker 2 (22:31):
Every once in a while, you have a celebrity or
musical artist that passes away, and you know, standard thing
is everybody goes back and digs out the old photo
they have with the person if they've ever met them, Right,
But you have some people that are so polarizing that
everybody has a story and everybody.
Speaker 1 (22:48):
Has a photo.
Speaker 2 (22:49):
So then the pictures that I saw yesterday afternoon was
the onslaught on social media of pictures of people even
outside the radio industry, with Ozzie, which it's so cool
to see. It's almost like a little kind of archive
of memories. It was like a little yearbook.
Speaker 1 (23:02):
It's so true.
Speaker 5 (23:03):
And you think of so many stars of his stature
who are untouchable. They're surrounded by security at all times.
They were behind a wall. You never see them. So
many people have stories of meeting Ozsie. The guy at
the grocery store.
Speaker 1 (23:15):
I know that was crazy.
Speaker 5 (23:17):
You know, we had a guy who called up yesterday
afternoon and scammed his way into aaf when Ozzie was
there and camped out in the lobby behind a magazine,
and when the entourage walked by, he went in with
and just blended in there and then went into the
bathroom and came bare.
Speaker 1 (23:32):
He was like Leo and catch me if you can.
He was like a complete imposter, and he ended up
in the studio with Ozzy a I thought that was
the greatest story. After this, I could have been a scenario.
Speaker 2 (23:41):
In which you know, I'll be invited him inut and forgotten.
Speaker 1 (23:46):
There you go, let's get another talk back here.
Speaker 12 (23:48):
I work as a TV cameraman and one night I
was filming a midnight autograph session with Ozzy after he
finished a show here in Toronto, and when he entered
the back door of the record store, he went off
by himself. So I followed him and filmed him rolling
a cigarette, and I said, Ozzie, what's life like now
that you've quit drugs and alcohol? And he looked me
(24:11):
straight in the eye and sincerely said boring.
Speaker 1 (24:15):
Boring is a little different without a little kick, a
little substance. That's true.
Speaker 8 (24:21):
I would just like to say, with the lost of
Ozzy Osbourne concert only seventeen days ago, you can think.
Speaker 1 (24:28):
Of it this way.
Speaker 8 (24:30):
Only Ozzy Osbourne would be the kind of guy to
go to his own wake while he was still here
to say his final goodbyes.
Speaker 1 (24:39):
Think about it.
Speaker 5 (24:40):
He planned it all out, him and Sharon, so many
of these pieces falling together. The marriage proposal to Kelly Osbourne,
Oh my gosh.
Speaker 2 (24:50):
Even I was critical of that at the time, like, hey,
you really take really steal an Auzzie's thunder.
Speaker 1 (24:55):
But now it all makes sense. And especially with.
Speaker 5 (24:58):
Sharon, she is so detective of Ausy all these years
for her to let her daughter take the spottle away
from Ozzie at that moment at his goodbye show, something
had to be on.
Speaker 2 (25:11):
They wanted him to at least have that because they
knew he wasn't going to be there.
Speaker 1 (25:15):
We wanted to be there, to be a part of it.
She wanted that for him.
Speaker 7 (25:18):
Yeah.
Speaker 11 (25:18):
I saw ozzy first concert at the Orphium nineteen eighty.
Speaker 1 (25:22):
I was fifteen.
Speaker 11 (25:24):
We were so stoned and messed up that when my
friend's father came to pick us up, I opened his
car door and I went to go lean on the window.
Speaker 1 (25:33):
Well there was no window, and I fell over.
Speaker 11 (25:36):
I'm on the ground and I remember my father's my
friend's father just leaning over me saying, gap.
Speaker 1 (25:42):
Get up, get in the cart. Dude, who knew that? Like,
you know, back in the eighties when we were listening
to Ozzie, we'd be on the radio someday doing a
tribute to this guy.
Speaker 7 (25:55):
I know.
Speaker 1 (25:55):
I mean, like I never thought of that. When I
was going Ozzie shows at the Providence Civics, I came
across a ticket stub that I took a picture of
his sent a friend from nineteen eighty nine on the
No Rest for the Wicked tour. I remember standing in
line at night, sleeping over on the sidewalk to get
tickets in the next morning. Ye Like, who knew? Like
thirty years, forty years later whatever, I'd be on the
(26:16):
radio talking about this guy.
Speaker 5 (26:17):
And back then, back then, back then, we were joking like,
oh my god, how much longer is it gonna last?
Twenty twenty five, well twenty twenty actually said in the
nineties that he was going to retire. I forgot what
year it was. He's like, no, one wants to see
an old man on stage.
Speaker 1 (26:31):
And then what does he do? He goes in tours
for the next thirty years.
Speaker 4 (26:33):
That's it?
Speaker 3 (26:34):
What a dude.
Speaker 10 (26:36):
The Chuck Nolan Morning Show on Boston's Classic Rock One
hundred twenty seven.
Speaker 4 (26:41):
W's ZLX and anywhere on the planet on the free
I heard radio app which of course is your number
one pre.
Speaker 1 (26:47):
Set your number one ZLX King of all Kings? Who's
Chuck Nolan? And he is back tomorrow? Daniel Murdray Right there,
I'm Tyler. We're reliving some of our fondest memories in
the first three months of the show, and last month
we had this conversation Danielle about I don't know AI
scanners or whatever in mental cause, do you remember this?
Speaker 8 (27:09):
I do?
Speaker 7 (27:10):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (27:10):
So Hertz is employing new technology where they use have
you ever seen those car washes where you drive in
a new park in the little I think it's called
like the Maverick or the Max or the something mac
and it like goes back and forth over your car. Okay, okay,
So basically that's what this scanner does, and it checks
for damage.
Speaker 1 (27:26):
But if it finds something or this an error, there's
no way to dispute it. So we had a big
conversation about this. I guarantee you it was riven because
I still don't remember. I really don't that because you
don't pay attention I do. What's your name?
Speaker 3 (27:40):
Do.
Speaker 1 (27:41):
Yeah, we'll get to that in a few The best
of the Chuck Dling Morning Show right here on wz elex.
You like je Tush, we'll make it official.
Speaker 10 (27:49):
Leave us a talk back on the iHeartRadio app. And
while you're there, make wc Election your number one pre set.
Speaker 1 (27:54):
It's a hut the online show on Boston's Classic Rack.
Speaker 3 (28:00):
You.
Speaker 1 (28:00):
I'm Danielle Murr. Damn right, you walk and you're here
every day on the Chuck Nolan Morning Show. Now came
over from across the street a few years ago. Yes,
we nabbed her.
Speaker 6 (28:09):
You did.
Speaker 1 (28:09):
I mean, I you know, I flew to a few
places in between, but yeah, you did, but you landed
on the right spot. I did, Buddy, I did every
day on the Chuck Nolan Morning Show. I'm Tyler. Chuck's
on vacation. But we found out he's actually home. He
just got back. Yeah all right, hopefully no home invaders
were there when he got there, like that lady in
South and the South End.
Speaker 2 (28:25):
No, but I think the house is like a million
degrees because he's got the ac issue.
Speaker 1 (28:29):
Oh he's got noise. Does that mean he left that
bastard cat in a hothouse? No, he wouldn't do that.
He's not no, no way Chuck can count No, No,
he really doesn't like that cat.
Speaker 2 (28:44):
He never did that.
Speaker 1 (28:44):
He would never do that. Chuck's back tomorrow. By the way,
So we've been playing some uh some best ofs as
we call them in the industry. We you probably would
think of it as a memory from the first three
months of the show. We talked about rental cars about
a month ago. Can you explain this again, because I
don't know what I don't know what's going on.
Speaker 2 (29:00):
So it used to be that someone would check your
rental car in at the end of the period and
like walk around it and look if there was any damage,
they would make a note. Now they have these new
AI scanners. I think Hurts is the o company that's
employing them regularly right now, and they'll drive the car
through this scanner and AI picks up all damage.
Speaker 1 (29:18):
Right, And somebody had a ton of damage that was
like really nothing right or because.
Speaker 2 (29:23):
I've been doing a lot of research into this because
I'm going to Colorado in September and I'm a very
high level member with HURTS, so I'm like, I want
to look into this and see what's going on with
this program before I decide whether or not I want
to rent from them. And it seems like it's kind
of failing spectacularly because people are like, we drove through,
there's no damage on the car, but it's mistaking things
(29:44):
like water spots for damage. So it's not a perfect
science yet.
Speaker 1 (29:49):
So when we were talking about it last month, what
happened was somebody got charged like a butt ton of money,
tons of money.
Speaker 5 (29:54):
And this is how the conversation went good online show
vacation week a lot of people heading out.
Speaker 1 (30:02):
If you're flying out, sometimes you are a prisoner of
the rental car. Yes, I always have a problem with
the rental car. There's always a problem. It never goes smoothly.
They not something like that always happens. That's what the
reservation's for. Have you looked closely at the bill? Oh,
the charge is the feet.
Speaker 5 (30:19):
It's like especially flooreda is like there's a there's a
sunshine charge, there's a you looked at a road side.
Speaker 2 (30:25):
And there's a charge you had to pee and you
drove to extra miles to a you pulled off for
the Newcomshire State liquor store charge.
Speaker 1 (30:31):
It's amazing feet there's a fee fee.
Speaker 5 (30:34):
There is a fee fee. Yeah, so there's something new. Now,
this is something that Hurts is doing. They teamed up
with another company that builds high speed automated vehicle inspection systems. Okay,
so you drive your car through a scanner on your
way out when you pick up the vehicle, and then
you go through the scanner again when you return, and
this thing scans like an X ray.
Speaker 1 (30:54):
You're not getting anything by that, you know, how anything
Before you leave?
Speaker 5 (30:58):
They say, take take a lap around the vehicle and
check first scratches, dents and all that.
Speaker 1 (31:02):
Write it down.
Speaker 3 (31:03):
Do you do that?
Speaker 6 (31:04):
I do.
Speaker 2 (31:04):
I will take video and photos because I've been screwed
on that before.
Speaker 1 (31:08):
Wow, I will. I will do the whole. I'll go
up and down, close up pictures of the rims because
that's usually what gets h Yeah. And then sometimes you're like, oh,
there's a scratch. I'm like that, but that was that
was there, It was there. You've had to do the battle.
I haven't had to do that. By yeah, I have
photographic evidence.
Speaker 5 (31:24):
I check it carefully. I just say on the way out, hey,
there's this, this, this and this, And they're like, what
are you telling you about. Yeah, exactly, so this while
this guy, I guess went through the scanner. He's charged
four hundred and forty dollars for a one inch scratch
on a wheel, you know, the scuff when you hit
the curb a little bit when you're parking or something.
Speaker 1 (31:41):
Sure, four hundred and forty bucks.
Speaker 5 (31:43):
It was two hundred and fifty dollars for the damage,
one hundred and twenty five dollars for processing, and a
sixty five dollars administrative.
Speaker 1 (31:50):
Oh shut the hell up, what it administrative? An administrative fee?
It's all computed that. Well, we go to pay the
sub You really need to rent a car that badly
when you go away and depending on where you are, yeah, yeah,
come on take a cab.
Speaker 2 (32:07):
Yeah, but if you're not staying in a city area
that has a lot of places don't have like reliable taxi.
Speaker 1 (32:13):
Or uber service, Where are you going that doesn't have
Luber service? Plenty of places a buggy, I mean they
got everybody has. Don't you have relatives that live in
the middle of nowhere?
Speaker 5 (32:22):
Now?
Speaker 1 (32:23):
I do.
Speaker 2 (32:24):
Every time I go to cities that you're thinking with this,
you're thinking with a Charlestown mindset, where you have access
to stuff.
Speaker 1 (32:30):
True, well that's why I don't go places unless that's
that crisis.
Speaker 2 (32:32):
But like I'm for instance, if I go out west
to go to a dark sky location for a photo workshop,
like oftentimes I go to Mount Shasta, which is in
northern California, I have to fly into Medford, Oregon. You
drive ninety minutes down to Mount There's no like ubers
or taxis around there, so you need like you need
a rental car.
Speaker 1 (32:51):
And if you got kids, you can't kids in luggage.
My god, so much stuff.
Speaker 5 (32:56):
Yeah, but it used to be the you know, if
it's smaller than a fall kind of a thing, I'm
not gonna charge you. Now, one in Scratch is four
hundred and forty bucks. People are going nuts. Yeah, blame them, man, No,
And they're just starting to roll this out. They have
one hundred locations doing this and they're gonna do a
lot more. Boy, So you're gonna have to fight fight
(33:18):
the battle here. That's ridiculous. It goes through this scanner
and picks up the slightest thing like that, and they
don't let it go.
Speaker 6 (33:25):
But the problem is, just as well as I do.
Speaker 1 (33:28):
AI is tough man. Yeah, it's gonna change lives and
ways you didn't even think. Yeah, because it catches everything
that the lazy people don't, and this is one of them.
Bust out that wallet, Chuck, It's the Chuck Nolan Morning Show.
