Speaker 1 (00:00):
All right, welcome back to the Cruise Show podcast. My
name is Jeff g. Producers the Cruise Show hosts of
the podcast. Cruise is here, Yo, Jackie is here, and
we have a big announcement coming up later on this week.
I can't wait for everybody to hear that. Are you
guys excited about that?

Speaker 2 (00:13):
I'm excited.

Speaker 3 (00:14):
I honestly thought right now for a second, like, wait,
what's the big announce Wait what is it?

Speaker 2 (00:17):
Yeah, I wasecut.

Speaker 4 (00:19):
I'm still thinking that, but I'm excited.

Speaker 5 (00:21):
Wow, we could keep a secret, I guess. I mean,
although all of you should know, I do know what.

Speaker 3 (00:26):
It took me a second once you said like, oh,
we have a big surprise, I'm like, what is it?

Speaker 5 (00:30):
It is Monday. It is Monday, Monday.

Speaker 1 (00:32):
But Yah had a meeting about it this morning and
went pretty well, oh really it was a lot of fun.
So I'm excited and stay tuned for that. But let's
go ahead and get into the week with some of
the biggest things happening in hip hop and the culture.
So Drake is back at number one, all right, So
and he knocked off Kendrick. Kendrick had that research after
the Super Bowl and after the physical vinyl copies went out, right,
But Drake and Party next Door are number one now,

(00:55):
no telling how long though last.

Speaker 5 (00:57):
There, but they're number one.

Speaker 1 (00:59):
Okay, consider that and with all the social we've been
seeing from his tour in Australia, the pregnant woman giving
out money and doing all those things and the DeMar
de Rosen Jersey.

Speaker 5 (01:11):
Is Drake back? Is he back? Is he back in
the midway or is he not back at all?

Speaker 4 (01:16):
I think he would be back if he dropped an
album solo, not with Party next Door.

Speaker 5 (01:21):
This is a collaborative album, So I don't know. I
don't know if it's if Drake is back, but Drake
is here.

Speaker 3 (01:32):
I think Drake is back in a mid type of way.

Speaker 5 (01:37):
Yeah, I would say too, Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:39):
Because just because like if you think about the whole
album that they drop some sexy songs for you, it's
like there's not a lot of like hit hard hits
on there. There's only like a few, maybe less than
a handful. Yeah, obviously Nokia is one of them.

Speaker 2 (01:54):
And I hate that. I love that song.

Speaker 5 (01:57):
It's a good song.

Speaker 3 (01:58):
And now I was talking about it with Jordan who
helps us out here on the show.

Speaker 2 (02:02):
Too, she asked me. She's like, dude, I hate that
I love it too.

Speaker 3 (02:05):
Now do you think that you hate you hate that
you love it because it's Drake? And I was just like, yeah,
I think so, because, like you know, I mean, everyone
wants to, like say, pick a side Drake or Kendrick
or whatever. And I think being in LA where, well,
I can speak for myself, like I'm more on Kendrick's side,
but I just can't, like, you know, I can't deny

(02:26):
that it's catchy, that Nokia is catchy as hell.

Speaker 4 (02:29):
No, and Drake has made many hits, countless hits, and
unfortunately we can't take that from him. I'm just like yeah,
but like not like he has those hits right and
he knows how to make them.

Speaker 5 (02:39):
It's not like he's completely done.

Speaker 2 (02:41):
Yeah, I will say, like, I think you're right cruisive.

Speaker 3 (02:44):
Like if he made a solo album and kind of
stick to that type, like to like old Drake, I
think he would he would.

Speaker 4 (02:51):
Be Yeah, if he was rapping, rapping and this wasn't
like an R and B album, yeah, dog, I mean
you know it'd be up for conversation for sure.

Speaker 1 (02:59):
I do think that it's there's a music between separation
in person, right, I think people dragging the person will
live forever.

Speaker 5 (03:07):
A minor is gonna live forever.

Speaker 1 (03:09):
Oh yeah, No, figure out a way to drop some
hits in between that that certain people will like.

Speaker 5 (03:14):
Maybe the women will like this one.

Speaker 1 (03:16):
Maybe he'll drop a you know, a rap, you know,
a song that people will like.

Speaker 5 (03:20):
Whatever.

Speaker 1 (03:21):
He's good at doing that, But I don't know if
from a personality standpoint, dude will ever be able to recover.

Speaker 4 (03:29):
Yeah, he'll never be able to shake off those allegations,
that's for sure.

Speaker 3 (03:31):
No, especially so many people in like just not just
the general public, but in the like industry too, have
shown support for Kendrick was singing along to not Like Us,
dancing like Hella athletes, HELLA celebrities, like everyone kind of
picked a side.

Speaker 4 (03:49):
So yes, it's like Drake will always have that stink
on him, right yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1 (03:53):
And no matter what he does, like, people are gonna
question it, right, so it'll be like, yeah, but even
if he's giving him money away to fans, talked about
it last week on the show, right, you know, yeah,
but he's just trying to buy their affection. Nothing he
does is genuine, like Kendrick has fully Polke holes in
everything that Drake was about.

Speaker 5 (04:09):
Yeah, it's kind of crazy, dude. Is it worse than
what fifty did? The job Rule?

Speaker 4 (04:14):
I don't remember that far back. I think fifty demolished
rules Spotlight. Yeah, he took his career and left him
with whatever was left right, and we never really saw
job Rule the same after what fifty did.

Speaker 5 (04:29):
Yeah, and it took him a while to actually come back.

Speaker 1 (04:31):
What how what was his comeback moment the Fire Festival too.

Speaker 5 (04:35):
I don't know though, No I know, but he started
to get some love right around there.

Speaker 1 (04:41):
Now some of the singles we play here too. Now again,
I think maybe it's been forgotten. So maybe that's what
Drake is hoping before that eventually times on his side.

Speaker 3 (04:49):
I hopeful, Like I don't know, it does suck because
you know, I think that Drake is so good at
what he does that like it just also sucks that
like even as a person, you're kind of like, damn, well,
like can I ever bounce back?

Speaker 2 (05:05):
You know, like everything I'm gonna be judged either way.

Speaker 5 (05:08):
You know.

Speaker 2 (05:09):
That's kind of I think what he's in the back
of his.

Speaker 4 (05:11):
Head wherever he goes he's thinking they they've sung that song.

Speaker 5 (05:14):
Please heard that?

Speaker 1 (05:15):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (05:16):
Please nobody play, Please nobody say something. Don't play what
you don't see the letter A.

Speaker 3 (05:21):
You literally can step outside without someone saying a minor.

Speaker 4 (05:24):
It's always head everywhere worried that someone's gonna say something
or sing it or you.

Speaker 1 (05:30):
I was at the Kings game the other night. It
was our meaning Heritage knight shout to Vic one and
everybody was. It was a good time out there, right, Yeah,
thanks to Toyota.

Speaker 5 (05:38):
Are founding partners here on the Crucial.

Speaker 1 (05:40):
And so they did a thing where it's like what
song do you want to be? Like the song of
the night kind of thing, right, So it was it
was Kendrick's not.

Speaker 5 (05:47):
Like us, It's like guns and Roses and then something.

Speaker 1 (05:49):
Else, right Yeah, And of course everybody picked Kendrick And
again this is hockey, not necessarily Kendrick's demo.

Speaker 5 (05:56):
By the way.

Speaker 1 (05:57):
Yeah, right, that a minor hit in the song, bro,
and they know it, and they know it and Vic
punched out the pedophile and everybody's saying it anyway, that is.

Speaker 5 (06:06):
Going to be around forehead. White people love.

Speaker 4 (06:09):
It, Black people love it, Latinos love it. These people
love it. Kids love it, adults love it.

Speaker 3 (06:13):
I mean after the super Bowl performance, even prior to
the super Bowl performance, my niece sings TV off, she
sings not like us and she's about to turn four, Like.

Speaker 5 (06:23):
Mustard Mustard part is everywhere. That's my son's walk up song. Now.

Speaker 3 (06:29):
Yeah, and then now my niece will randomly just go crazy, scary, spooky, hilarious.
And I'm just like, we were at Knots and she
was doing that right, we were just waiting in line.

Speaker 2 (06:37):
I was like, what the heck, that's so cute.

Speaker 5 (06:39):
Man. All right, well, let's move off with Drake real quick.

Speaker 4 (06:42):
Here.

Speaker 1 (06:42):
If I had to ask you who the coolest person
on earth is, who would you say is the coolest
person on earth?

Speaker 3 (06:48):
It's a good question, So like it could be anybody
or just let everybody.

Speaker 4 (06:52):
I think I know who anybody go. I think it's
Adam Sandler. I think it's the coolest ballad. It's the
coolest person. He's he's very humble, he's very very good
to people. He dresses the way he wants to dress.
He doesn't care about all of that.

Speaker 5 (07:08):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (07:08):
Yeah, and that's someone who just moves with complete confidence
but says he has none no confidence, which is crazy.
But when I say that, I'm not like saying like
you know, like like he's like, I've seen a lot
of interviews, right, I've seen the tell me what you wear,
so tell me what you were And he's like, I
don't know, pants, some shoes.

Speaker 5 (07:24):
He got this shirt last week.

Speaker 4 (07:26):
Like he's just he's confident in in a way that's
just special that not a lot of people have.

Speaker 1 (07:31):
Yeah, and his longevity and quality of the stuff he
puts out has been there as well.

Speaker 5 (07:35):
Who's the coolest person on earth? Jackie? I don't know,
is it a woman? You know what?

Speaker 2 (07:43):
Yeah, I think I'm gonna go Keky Palmer. Keky Palmer.
I think he is the coolest person.

Speaker 3 (07:48):
Like she is just so genuine, Like she's so funny,
She's just so authentically herself. Like I like, I've never
seen Keiki like a like a bad I'm ever heard
a bad story about Kiki Pomer. I've never seen her
like lash out, like somebody like caught her on a
bad day. And even if she does like lash out,

(08:08):
it's like, well you kind of.

Speaker 4 (08:10):
Deserved it, like, you know, yeah, if you got a
problem with Kiki Palmer, that's your problem.

Speaker 2 (08:14):
Yeah, right, you started, You're the problem, the problem, the problem.

Speaker 1 (08:18):
I think now, I do think there's a few people,
right Snoop could fall in that category.

Speaker 5 (08:23):
I think Rihanna could follow in that category as well.
Super cool.

Speaker 1 (08:25):
But I was having this argument with myself in my
brain this morning after seeing that, after seeing Timothy Shallomey
win last night, right, he won the SAG Award for
his portrayal of Bob Dylan, Right, I started to think, Man,
this motherfucker is the coolest dude on her cool You
want to know why because in his speech yesterday said
I want to be great, and I want to be
great like not only Daniel day Lewis and Marlon Brando great,

(08:48):
I want to be great like Michael Jordan, you.

Speaker 5 (08:50):
Know, like yeah, and he's loves Frank Ocean.

Speaker 1 (08:54):
The dude can wrap Kendrick Bar for bar loves hip
hop to me, and I'm like, this might be the
coolest dude on the planet.

Speaker 4 (09:02):
He's definitely the coolest youngest person probably right when you think, dude,
like I just.

Speaker 1 (09:08):
Stand like he to me is really his stock is
gone up. I can't figure out the Kyl thing yet,
But not for me to figure.

Speaker 5 (09:14):
Out right like that. That's like, you know, that's not
for me to figure out.

Speaker 1 (09:17):
But like, to me, he's become a cool ass dude
because he's everywhere, but he's not just everywhere just to
be everywhere.

Speaker 5 (09:25):
He's with the right people.

Speaker 1 (09:27):
Yeah, and he's and he's really making his mark in
this business.

Speaker 5 (09:31):
You know.

Speaker 1 (09:31):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (09:31):
I did watch the Saga Wars last night and that
like part of his speech where he was just like,
look and like he said, I want to be great.
He's like, and I know that's kind of weird to say.
Not a lot of people say that. He's like, but
I truly am striving for that, and that's I think
that was pretty cool. That's admirable to admit that, like, hey,
I'm trying to be the best of the best.

Speaker 4 (09:50):
Yeah, yeah, for sure, and in a room full of greatness.

Speaker 5 (09:53):
Yeah dude, that's what he said. Yeah. Yeah, man, I
don't know for me.

Speaker 1 (09:57):
His stock's going up, bro, you know, Like I mean,
I remember some of the first movies he did, and
just to watch what he's doing now is really amazing.
And like I said, just that factor that people in
hip hop like him, you know what I mean. His
artsy crowd likes him, you know, like I think he's
just very well liked in a way respective for all
the stuff he's doing. You know.

Speaker 2 (10:14):
Yeah, Kristen Bell did a really good job yesterday.

Speaker 5 (10:17):
Yeah, she's cool too.

Speaker 2 (10:18):
At the Saga word, Selena Goman is finally won.

Speaker 3 (10:23):
And the one time that Steve yeah, Steve Martin, No,
Martin Martin.

Speaker 2 (10:29):
Yeah, that they didn't show up.

Speaker 4 (10:32):
Cod Oh damn, he's going around and off COVID's back.

Speaker 2 (10:38):
God, did you also seeking.

Speaker 5 (10:40):
COVID are back? Well, one is questionable.

Speaker 3 (10:44):
When Colin Farrell want something, who was it that was
announcing it? And she's like, oh, the person that gave
me COVID at the at.

Speaker 2 (10:50):
The oscars or something, Colin Farrell.

Speaker 3 (10:52):
And he was just like, oh, in my defense, like
so and so gave it to me Like it was funny.

Speaker 2 (10:57):
It was just like a funny interaction.

Speaker 1 (10:59):
Yeah, all right, Well, hopefully we could keep COVID away
from all of us.

Speaker 4 (11:02):
Right, you know, what's the over under of me getting
COVID this year?

Speaker 2 (11:06):
This year?

Speaker 3 (11:07):
I'm well, can we do itely? I'm gonna say at
least twice you get it this year?

Speaker 5 (11:10):
Twice? Of course you'll get it once. I'm gonna go
with I'm gonna go with April.

Speaker 2 (11:16):
April, Okay, April towards the end of the year.

Speaker 4 (11:19):
I'm gonna say zero times, but optimistic, I'm gonna say zero.
But but let's let's fight. You've been on your health journey,
you've been yeah, so we'll see.

Speaker 5 (11:32):
