Speaker 1 (00:00):
This morning, y'all, I was just reflecting on the goodness
of God, and I want to pray about that today, Father, God,
in the name of Jesus. Today we acknowledge that you
are good, not just in what you do, but just
in who you are. Your goodness is not fleeting, is
not changing. We can trust that it's steady, that it's unfailing,
(00:23):
and that it's ever present. Today, God, we take the
time to remember just how good you've been in our lives.
You were good when you formed the world out of nothing.
You were good when you created us in your image.
You were good when you breathe life into our dust,
loving us before we ever made the choice to serve
you or even love you back. You were good when
(00:44):
you led your people out of slavery part of the
Red Sea and allowed them to walk on dry land,
even destroying their enemies. You were good when you made
a way where they're seen to have been no way.
You were good when they wondered and you stayed guiding
them with a cloud by day and fire by now. God,
you provided manner and the wilderness, water from the rock,
(01:06):
mercy even for their grumbling hearts. God, today we're so
grateful that you're still good when you whisper peace into
our ancients and minds, when you bring comfort into our
broken hearts. When you open doors, we didn't even know
the knock on. When you closed doors, we never would
have even had the strength to walk away from on
(01:27):
our own. God, you are good when the sun is shining,
when prayers are answered, when healing comes, just like your promise,
when we experience your favor and the blessings overflow. God,
you are good. But you're also good in the waiting. God.
You're good in the valley's God in the moments when
we don't understand God, because even then you're near to us.
(01:49):
You never leave us, You never forsake us. You were
good when you're sitting Jesus, not to condemn the world,
but to save the world. You were good when he
touched the leoper. Good when he welcomed the outcast, lifted
the head of the ashamed, and called the children close
to him. You were good when he went to cavalry.
You were good when he took on our said our shame,
(02:11):
our punishment, and then poort our forgiveness for us instead.
And now, Lord, you are good to us in a
thousand ways, every single day, and every breath we take,
and the kindness of a friend, and the laughter of children,
and the meals on our table, and provision for our
lives in the strength you give us to face another day,
(02:32):
and the promise that nothing, not life or death, not
height nor death, can separate us from your love. God,
Let us never take your goodness for granted. Open our
eyes to see it. God, even in small things, a sunrise,
a quiet moment, a song that stirs our soul, remind
(02:52):
us that goodness and mercy are following us, even when
we feel pursued by fear and sorrow. Lord, you are good,
and you've always been good. We trusted you will continue
to be good in our lives. Your goodness is not
just what you do, it's who you are. So God,
we praise you for it. We rest in it, we
(03:13):
rejoice in it, and we thank you with heart filled
with gratitude that you are good in Jesus' name. Amen.
